Last Monday, our old friend Rex Murphy wrote "Canada is not a racist country, despite what the Liberals say", a great column in the National Post in which he decries the "racism industry" which has been at peak productivity this week in Canada as well as the USA.
Can you imagine the outrage which spewed forth from Canada's liberal elites? How dare a 73-year-old white man who was born in Canada -- well, in Newfoundland, actually -- of European descent, express his opinion on this very fraught subject. His co-worker, Vanmala Subramaniam -- went so far as to say that Mr Murphy should not be allowed a platform from which to preach "hatred". The Rebel's Ezra Levant takes up the story.
Footnote: Ms Subramaniam is one of the 1000s of non-white immigrants welcomed by "racist Canada". Ms Subramaniam in not only non-white, she's also non-black. That doesn't matter, of course.

VIDEO: Trudeau closes US-Canada border, except for asylum seekers
This morning, Just In Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canuckistan, annouonced from his Ottawa residence -- he's "self-isolating", you know [virtue-signalling? Ed.] -- that he had agreed with Still-POTUS to close the World's Longest Undefended Border to residents of the Paranoid States of America, except for "essential" travel. No tourists, no holiday-makers, no cross-border shoppers. Right? Err, not quite. If you're a "refugee" or an asylum-seeker, you're welcome to cross at the hole in the fence [unofficial entry point, surely! Ed.] near Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC.
Around 1000 people a month have been entering Canada for nearly three years, there at Roxham Road and at other informal border crossings in order to request refugee status here, crossing over farmers' fields or well-trod paths to get around the Safe Third Country Agreement with the USA. That deal doesn't allow people to request asylum at official land border points, but people can lodge claims once inside the country illegally. Go figure!
Following his speech this morning, Mr Socks entertained questions, and was asked if the border would be closed at Roxham Road as well as "official" points of entry. He replied that everyone was being screened for Covid-19, so don't worry about it. On Tuesday, Wild Bill Blair, the Minister for Public Security, said the same thing. But, he explained, rather than following the normal protocol of referring them to temporary shelter -- most often in Montreal -- "alternative accommodation" has been arranged to house the "asylum-seekers" during the "voluntary" isolation period.
Details on that were not immediately available. Shuttle buses marked "Queen Elizabeth Hotel" were not seen by the reporter for The Rebel who tells us in this video what he did see. Canadians will not be pleased....

UPDATED: VIDEO: Saint Greta visits an Aussi pub
Walt welcomes a new agent, assigned No. 35, and thanks her for alerting us to the existence of this short (2:08) video of the Chief Climate Alarmist, Greta Thunberg, addressing the crowd (Barry Mackenzie?) at the Armatree Hotel in Armatree (duh), New South Wales, Australia. Warning: Saint Greta may not have actually been speaking at the time and place suggested!
More recently, the precocious teen has been in Davos, Switzerland, for the annual gabfest of the big swinging dicks in finance and economics. She has been repeating the same old rant about how they (the dicks) are not doing enough to save the world from destruction. (Michael Moore said this week we've only got four years left!) In response, US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin suggested that Ms Thunberg isn't the best person to give advice on economic issues related to climate change -- at least not until she goes to college.
At a presser at the World Economic Forum, Mr Mnuchin criticized the latter-day Henny Penny for calling on all and sundry to divest immediately from fossil fuels. Asked how such restrictions would affect the American economic model, Mr Mnuchin responded, "Is she the chief economist or who is she? I’m confused.... After she goes and studies economics in college she can come back and explain that to us."

During the Christmas rush, things tend to pile up on our desks -- Ed.'s and mine -- to be seen later... or never... We were doing a bit of dusting and cleaning... the old D&C... today, while we got over Ma Nifkins' jellied gin -- and found a note of the URL for this video, posted by Ezra Levant on YouTube on December 17th.
A few days earlier, lawyers for Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of All Canuckistan (except Alberta and Saskatchewan) made a shocking decision -- one which must have been approved by Mr Socks hisself. They -- the ones that work for Elections Canada -- decided to investigate Mr Levant and Rebel News for publishing and promoting The Libranos: What the Media isn't telling you about Justin Trudeau's Corruption.
The book came out during last fall's election campaign, ya see, so obviously it was calculated to influence Canadians to vote Not Liberal. And that would be wrong! Right? Two other books, by John Ivison and Aaron Wherry and John Ivison, both paid indirectly by the Liberal government, also appeared during the campaign, but that's OK because both Mr Ivison and Mr Wherry are sweet and sweeter (respectively) on the King of Blackface. It's only Ezra Levant who has to STFU during elections.
For criticizing the Liberal government, in print, during the election period, Mr Levant faces a possible fine C$5000 ($3850 in real money). It's not a lot, and Mr Levant could save himself a lot of grief (not to mention many guineas in legal fees) by bending the knee to Elections Canada and admitting he was a bad boy. But what about free speech? How come Messrs Ivison and Wherry can publish books, but not Mr Levant? Doesn't everyone enjoy freedom of speech, or is that only for liberal/Liberal media typists? VIDEO: The Rebel's May 3rd interview with Maxime Bernier
Ed. here. Some churl has e-mailed to say that WWW seems to be turning into the Max Bernier channel, or maybe the People's Party of Canada channel, because we've run several videos featuring Mad Max and Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson. Let me `splain. While most of our readers are in the Excited States of America, we do have a significant number from North of 49.
They tell us the lamestream media of Canuckistan seem to have agreed (or been directed by Justin's minions) to not give any airtime to, or even mention "Max Bernier's People's Party", as they call it disparagingly. The Sunday morning snorefests -- they have those in Canada too -- regularly feature Elizabeth May, "leader of the Green Party", which until Monday last was a party of one, i.e. Ms May. But do they ever invite M Bernier to weigh in with comments on such "non-issues" (as the meeja would have it) as immigration and climate change? Noooo.
So for those who are wondering where Max has been and if he's saying anything about the things that matter, here's a 49-minute conversation between M Bernier and David Menzies of TheRebel.media, in which they discuss everything from immigration and censorship to political correctness and the media conspiracy to demonize conservatives.

One of Walt's agents was in Toronto -- the font of all evil in Canada -- a few days ago to take in the first rally in that "world-class city" of "Mad Max" Bernier's People's Party of Canada. Here's a ten-minute video from The Rebel showing the reactions of people who came looking for a real conservative leader... and found it!
CBC News didn't cover the PPC rally very fully. The comments of some of those interviewed by The Rebel make the reason clear.
The PPC followed up the Toronto rally by holding organizing meetings for some Ontario riding associations (or "Electoral District Associations", as they're called in Newspeak). A regular reader of WWW was elected to the executive of one such group. He reports that those assembled in the meeting room of a local library were indeed a "basket of deplorables"... and proud of it!

UPDATED: VIDEO: Government-sponsored refugees trash Toronto hotel
This is an update to "Ungrateful 'refugees' destroy Canadian hotels", posted here on August 3rd. The video included with that one was produced by The Rebel media, and revealed the shocking way in which Syrian "refugees", brought to Canada by the Liberal government, trashed hotels in which they were put up, at Canuck taxpayers' expense.
Trouble with that video was that it had evidence, in the form of letters from hotel managers, but not much by way of actual photos or videos. In September, a trio of residents of Scarborough ON (aka Scarberia, the easterly part of Toronto) decided to go and have a look for themselves, to see if the troubles with the third-worlders had perhaps been exaggerated. Here's what they saw at the Radisson Hotel in Scarborough.
Some of the "refugees" sent to Toronto had been put up in dorms at some of Toronto's universities and colleges, but had to move out by August 9th, so the premises could be cleaned up -- no small task -- so as to be ready for students arriving to begin the new term. So the progressive Muslim-lovers running the country (and the city of Toront) pressured more hotels into taking more of the wretched refuse who Prime Minister Trudeau promised to welcome in his "tweet heard round the third world" following the election of President Trump.
The hotels were told they would be stuck with the dirty migrants for only one month, or two months max, as "permanent accommodation" would surely be found by the end of September. ("Permanent accommodation" for people whose right to remain in Canada has yet to be determined. How strange is that?!) Well, the end of September came a week ago, and the hotels were told that, errr, the unwelcome guests would have to stay another month, or two months max, because... well, you get the idea.
But don't worry, the hoteliers were told, all expenses will be covered by the government. Whether that includes the expense of cleaning, disinfecting and fumigating remains to be seen. Also to be determined is the question of compensation for the millions of dollars in business being lost when people check TripAdvisor and heed the warning to avoid the hotels which have been turned into hostels, with all that term implies.
UPDATED 12/10/18: CBC News reports that the Radisson Hotel at 55 Hallcrown Place, in the 401 and Victoria Park area of Scarberia (NE Toronto) was targeted in an arson attack on October 2nd. The hotel is "home" to 577 "refugees", none of whom was hurt or forced to leave by the small fire in a corridor, which was quickly put out. One "refugee" from Sudan said she believed the hotel was targeted because of the refugees staying there. "I know there are some small groups...," she said, "[who] are saying, 'They are taking our money, they are taking our taxes', just to give them a better life.'" Wonder if TripAdvisor or Trivago know about this.

Syrian refugee charged with murder of 13-year-old BC girl
This is... or was... Marrisa Shen, a girl from Burnaby BC who didn't live to see her 14th birthday. She was last seen leaving her apartment building around 1800 on 18 July 2017. Surveillance footage later showed the teenager entering a nearby Tim Hortons minutes after she left her apartment across from the city's Central Park. She stayed there for an hour and a half. Her family reported her missing to police at 2330, and her body was found in the brush in the southeast corner of the park a little more than an hour later. Police have not revealed how she was killed, nor if she was sexually assaulted.
Last Friday, Ibrahim Ali, 28, of Burnaby was charged with the first-degree murder of the young girl. The sum total of what the police and the lamestream media are saying about the accused is that he is "a Syrian national and permanent Canadian resident" who arrived in Canada "17 months ago". By my calendar, that would be around Valentine's Day of 2017, or about four months before Marrisa was killed. He was arrested in Burnaby on Sept. 7.
Disregarding M-103, Walt has some innocent questions: What is Mr Ali's religion? Is he by any chance a follower of the Prophet? Is he one of the 50,000 Syrian refugees that the arch-virtue-signaller Justin Trudeau, brought to Canada in a fit of misguided humanitarianism? If not, how did he get to be a permanent resident so quickly? What was Mr Ali's employment status at the time of his arrest? Was he working, or sponging off Canadian taxpayers like so many of the other 49,999?

UPDATE ADDED 1800: The contest announced above is over. Our very own Ed. hunted up the Vancouver Sun and found "Ibrahim Ali, 28, charged with first-degree murder of Burnaby teen Marrisa Shen", which includes this paragraph: Ali is a Syrian national and a permanent resident who came to Canada 17 months ago, Richardson said. She did not know whether he was a privately-sponsored or government-assisted refugee, but believed he does have family in Burnaby and is employed. As if there was any doubt about the "refugee" part.... The last two words came as a surprise though.

VIDEO: CBC stunned by American prof's criticism of Chrystia Freeland
About three months before WWW made its debut in the blogosphere, Walt had the pleasure of meeting with the delectable Reshmi Nair, who was then a rookie bingo-caller with Canada's CTV News. Ms Nair went on to bigger and better (?) things. Having drunk multiple doses of liberal Koolaid, she is now occupies an anchor's chair at Wallyworld [Newsworld, shurely! Ed.], the CBC's answer to the Clinton News Network. Canada's state broadcaster evidently equips its staff with powerful PC filters which protect them from seeing or hearing truths which conflict with the prevailing liberal orthodoxy. That, at any rate, is the opinion of Frank H. Buckley, Foundation Professor at the Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University. He joined The Rebel's Ezra Levant last week to discuss his recent appearance on the CBC where he criticized the Liberals' incompetence during the NAFTA negotiations.
That Professor Buckley should lay much of the blame for the Trudeau Liberals' failure to get a deal with the USA at the feet of the poster girl for gender equity, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, comes as no surprise to me, since I've been saying the same things for some time now. I've also questioned the reasons for the Canadian Broadcorping Castration's love affair with the fragrant (and sometimes braless) Ms Freeland. Check out these posts:

Could it get even worse? Answer: Again, yes. It's entirely possible that the Canadian sheeple may be gulled by the CBC and other lamestream meeja into believing that failure to get a trade deal is actually a victory for Mr Socks in that he stood up the Orange Monster from Down South, with the result that they re-elect him and the insufferable Ms Freeland.

VIDEO: Ungrateful "refugees" destroy Canadian hotels
OK, forget about Zimbabwe. Stick a fork in it. It's done. Let's turn instead to the Great No-longer-white North, which is having its own problems with dark-complected people -- Haitians and Nigerians, to be specific -- coming in the 1000s to cross the world's longest undefended border (TM) near St-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC and other fenceless border posts. The Liberal government line is that dealing with them -- giving them food, clothes, housing and welfare cheques -- is a "challenge". Michelle Rempel and other (somewhat) Conservative MPs call it a "crisis". The province of Québec has said it just can't take any more, so the Liberal federal government is shipping the latest arrivals to Ontario. Well, not all of Ontario, only the "sanctuary city" of Toronto, which is where the bogus "refugees" wanted to go anyway. Seeing the horde heading west on the 401, Toronto Mayor John Tory (Tory by name, liberal by nature) cried out to the feds for some help. Since he couldn't very well say Toronto didn't want the border jumpers, he said only that the city had no room for them, its homeless shelters being already full of "refugees" from Syria and a few born-in-Canada drug addicts and mental cases.
A grand meeting was called, at which the mayors of Toronto and surrounding municipalities -- the so-called Greater Toronto Area -- were asked if they'd mind taking a few. Out of that came the rumour that Frank Scarpitti, the mayor of neighbouring Markham (aka "New Beijing"), had offered to take as many as 5000 of the welfare shoppers. Sheila Gunn Reid, host of The Gunn Show on The Rebel, has dared to ask who's going to pay to clean up the university dorms, hotel rooms and other "temporary accommodation" once the "refugees" have been given permanent homes. Apparently the flood of Syrian refugees -- 50,000 or them -- which flowed through Toronto hotels following Mr Socks' fit of virtue-signalling in 2015 made quite a mess: urinating in the lobbies, making fires in the rooms, stealing microwaves, smashing furniture and generally behaving like ungrateful third-worlders. If I were going to stay in a GTA hotel -- not likely because I try not to travel to places where I'll be a vizmin -- I would certainly ask, when making a reservation, if they have had any refugees staying there lately.
Meanwhile, in a related story, the Angus Reid Institute -- a polling firm steadfastly neutral on political issues -- today released results of a poll of 1500 members of their Forum, conducted between July 25th and 30th. A majority of Canadians polled said that the number of asylum-seekers crossing into the country is too high. 65% of those polled said they felt that it was "too many people for Canada to handle", with only 29% stating that it's a "manageable number of people." Only 6% said they felt Canada could handle more border crossers.
Politicians always say that the only poll that counts is the one on election day. Canada's next federal election is scheduled for October of 2019. The province of Québec has said it just can't take any more, so the Liberal federal government is shipping the latest arrivals to Ontario. Well, not all of Ontario, only the "sanctuary city" of Toronto, which is where the bogus "refugees" wanted to go anyway. Seeing the horde heading west on the 401, Toronto Mayor John Tory (Tory by name, liberal by nature) cried out to the feds for some help. Since he couldn't very well say Toronto didn't want the border jumpers, he said only that the city had no room for them, its homeless shelters being already full of "refugees" from Syria and a few born-in-Canada drug addicts and mental cases.

VIDEO: Katie Hopkins: Don't let the USA become "Americastan"!
Katie Olivia Hopkins will celebrate her 43rd birthday in five days and Walt will join the many others wishing her many happy returns. She's my kind of people! [Does "kind of people" = "peoplekind"? Ed.] Mrs Hopkins is an English media personality, who first came to notice in 2007 as a reality television contestant. Nothing wrong with that. She might even become a politician some day. Like tomorrow! Later on, she became a columnist for British newspapers, initially the Sun and later the MailOnline.
Mrs Hopkins has been accused of racism by the usual gang of leftie journalists and politicians, SJWs and assorted snowflakes for daring to tell the truth about the hordes of bogus "refugees", asylum-seekers and other third-worlders who have turned London into "Londonistan". Last May she lost her job as a presenter on London radio station LBC for her comments on the Manchester massacre. (WWW 23/5/17).

Climate Barbie apologizes for tweet praising Syria
Following Walt's posting of "Canuck Minister tells The Rebel to stop calling her names" (WWW 4/11/17 - includes video), Ezra Levant, whose The Rebel website coined the name by which Catherine McKenna would prefer not to be known tweeted: "Appointed to fill a gender quota; unable to control her emotions when criticized; spends taxes on vanity photo shoots. #ClimateBarbie fits."His point is not that Ms McKenna, like Chrystia Freeland, is one of the terminally entitled limousine liberals who gets her hair colour out of a bottle and any ideas which may temporarily reside in her head from the Toronto Red Star. The problem is that Climate Barbie is a classic example of the Peter Principle. The Peter Principle (by Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull, 1969), for those who haven't read it, states that people rise in an organization until they reach the level of their incompetence. Ms McKenna, now nominally in charge of one of the more sensitive portfolios in the Canadian cabinet, has actually risen above that level.
Yesterday, taking a break from defending herself for defending herself, the Climate Barbie was forced to admit that "clearly a mistake was made" after a tweet from her official departmental account praised Syria for joining the Paris climate agreement. The tweet has since been deleted, but we have a screen shot. Here 'tis.
The celebratory Nicaragua and Syria tweet was sent from @ec_minister. Its description says it is run by Environment and Climate Change Canada, Parks Canada and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency. Ms McKenna tweeted her response to the controversy from her personal account, @cathmckenna. "Clearly a mistake was made from my Dept twitter. We've been clear that the murderous Assad regime must end attacks against its people."
Well, maybe we're being a bit hard on Climate Barbie. Surely it's a bit unfair to ask the Minister of Stopping the Sky from Falling to take responsibility for communications sent out by the minions under her... errr... control. Walt suggests that in future she delegate adverse comments (along with whines about being called names) upwards to her boss, the self-proclaimed feminist Junior Trudeau. He's good at apologies, and totally undeserving of his rep for being a bit of an airhead himself.

VIDEO: "Canada is open!" comes back to bite Junior Trudeau
How President Trump must be laughing! Back in January, with a couple of days of being sworn in, he made good on his promise to cut illegal immigration and send all the bogus refugee claimants, asylum-seekers and criminal trash back where they came from. Much hand-wringing ensued, amongst the chattering classes in the New York-Washington-Los Angeles corridor. If all the illegal aliens were deported, who would clean their toilets, mow their lawns and diaper their kids? The illegals themselves went into panic mode until a white knight (pun intended) took the stage, in the form of Canuck Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, son and heir of PET Himself. "Canada is open!", he told the world. "Send us your huddled masses, your filth, your scum. We'll take all comers!"
Canada already had the reputation of lying prostrate with her legs open (so to speak), offering "refugees" and other invaders free housing, free medical care (including dental care which Canadians have to pay for), free education... hell, free everything! The trouble was it was so damned hard to get to. And it's cold too! So lassitude led a lot of the illegals who had already made it to the Land of the Free -- the one south of the 49th parallel -- to stay right where they were. Until President Trump started signing executive orders. Then, suddenly, Canada started to look pretty attractive, in spite of the cold.
There's nothing colder than a prairie winter, the frostbacks say. (And remember, "Don't eat the yellow snow!") That notwithstanding, this past March saw what the Canuck government called "a bit of a spike" in the number of "refugees" crossing the undefended border at places like Emerson MB. Sure enough, March's trickle has become a flood, not at Emerson, but at the small Québec border town of Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, where the scabrous masses are crossing the ditch which marks the border at the rate of 150 per day. That's according to the government. RCMP and border security agents say (off the record) that the real rate is double that.
To be clear, what these "asylum-seekers" -- mostly Haitians this time -- are doing is illegal. RCMP officers stationed at the ditch dutifully shout out warnings that this is an illegal border crossing and that anyone attempting to enter Canada will be arrested. The warnings are immediately ignored, because the entire point of this trek is to get arrested, to get out of the American immigration system and into the Canadian one, where their cases will take years to be heard, while the claimants suck on the Canuck tit the whole time.
The oh-so-polite mounties help the "migrants" with their designer luggage and herd them aboard the bus which shuttles back and forth, 24/7, between the border and Montréal's Olympic Stadium -- the infamous "Big Owe" -- where they are put up until "permanent accommodation" (!) can be found. That's a telling phrase, coming from the mouth of Québec's Minister of Immigration, for it gives the lie to the Liberal fiction that not all of the invaders will be allowed to stay.

Let's do the math. 150 border-jumpers per day (at Lacolle alone) X 365 days a year X 50% means over 100,000 unemployed, unskilled and unwelcome "newcomers" will have been admitted to the Not-so-great, Not-so-white North in 2017. An article in last week's Economist predicts, with the magazine's usual air of superiority, that popular Front National leader Marine Le Pen will lose the second round of France's presidential election. Oh yes, they admit, she looks almost certain to make it through the first round, on April 23, but all the polls indicate that she will lose in the second round on May 7.
That sounds a lot like the certainty with which the same oracle (and all the lamestream media) predicted the election of Hellery Clinton. We know how that turned out. French sociophysicist Serge Galam knew -- in advance -- and probably made a lot of money on election bets. In his paper The Trump Phenomenon: An Explanation from Sociophysics, he wrote: "The Trump phenomenon...according to a model of opinion dynamics from sociophysics...was in principle predictable from the start."
Now Prof Galam brings his unique analytic method to the French presidential contest. In the final one-on-one match-up, he says, Marine Le Pen could well win. Why?
