Barbara Kay is a prominent Canadian journalist and columnist known for her work with the National Post, often focusing on social and political issues from a conservative viewpoint. She has also contributed to other outlets like Rebel News and The Post Millennial, both of which are on Walt's reading list. She is Jewish.

Canada’s post-October 7 antisemitism crisis mirrors Australia’s. It’s small wonder that the Bondi Beach Hanukkah pogrom is perceived by numerous Canadian observers as a bullet dodged.

If it had happened here, we would be sifting through the same forensic breadcrumbs that helped pave the road to Bondi: principles bent for Muslim votes, calculated tolerance for criminal activity directed against Jews and the demonization of Israel in high political and cultural places. 

The question now is: what can we do to prevent such a tragedy in Canada? We should start by believing what Islamists say. Hamas has stated that, "Killing Jews is worship that draws us close to Allah." We should also acknowledge that the phrase "Globalize the Intifada" is incitement to violence against Jews. We should prosecute, imprison or, when feasible, deport those who preach it. 

Second, we must remove the cone of heresy over debates about multiculturalism and immigration. Following the massacre, former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott told Sky News that, "Some versions of Islam are not really compatible with life in a liberal, democratic, pluralist society." He said it and the sky didn’t fall. Fear of radically anti-semitic jihadists is rational. 

As former Alberta premier and federal immigration minister Jason Kenney said in a recent debate Andrew Coyne about immigration, "Social cohesion (is) hard to measure, hard to quantify and sometimes a dangerous thing to discuss. But we damn well should." He’s right. Mental comfort on this file is a luxury we can no longer afford.

The failure of multiculturalism: the British and Irish examples

For decades now the liberal democratic governments of the AABC countries (America, Australia, Britain, and Canada) as well as western Europe, notably France and (above all) Germany, have forced on their people the premise of the Great Replacement, i.e. that multiculturalism is a Good Thing.

It is not. Enter "multiculturalism" in the search window above and you will find numerous articles on the subject proving that the premise is wrong and reporting the results of the disastrous experiment in One-Worldism and the attempt to force human persons to love one another. You'll also find links to a number of videos which have been scrubbed from YouTube by the wokesters who refuse, like the Three Wise Monkeys, to see the truth which is there to be seen.

Today we present yet another article on the failure of multiculturalism, this one by London-based journalist Michael Murphy. Mr Murphy created a fine documentary entitled "Ireland is full! Anti-immigration backlash in Ireland", which we suggest you watch ASAP, before it too disappears. Mr Murphy writes:

Now we know what globalizing the intifada looks like. In Manchester last week, a rabbi addressed his congregation in a robe stained with blood. Hours earlier, on Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day, a jihadi terrorist rammed a car into worshippers at the gates of a synagogue before going on a stabbing spree. By the time officers shot the attacker, two were dead and four more injured, some from accidental police fire.

To show they would not be cowed by violence, the congregation resumed their prayers as Britain’s Special Air Service (SAS) forces patrolled outside. Underneath the defiant posture, though, many of them will likely have wondered whether Britain remains a safe home for Jews. For the first time in centuries, the answer is not straightforward. Neither are the solutions to this predicament. 

Britain’s multicultural project rested on assumptions that have not survived contact with reality. We told ourselves immigrants would assimilate, or at least bring only harmless aspects of their cultures with them. Diversity was held up as our greatest strength. It has been apparent for some time that this was a monumental act of self-delusion. While many immigrants do share our values and become productive members of society, the people who don’t are more numerous than we have long cared to admit, and are wreaking havoc.

Consider the Manchester killer. Jihad al-Shamie was born in Syria and brought to the United Kindgom as a child, attaining citizenship in the mid-2000s. With that passport he was thenceforth regarded by our institutions as British. The problem is that when a bearded man in a suicide vest begins murdering Jews “in the name of the Islamic State,” as he put it, what once seemed like a harmless accommodation becomes an affront to the British people themselves. 

Al-Shamie was less an example of diversity being our strength than a life-long liability. He dropped out of university, spent his life unemployed and housed at public expense, and was earlier this year arrested for rape. His online footprint is limited to a 2012 death threat against a parliamentarian who had defended Israel.

What kind of society not only tolerates but subsidizes such a man? The same country that, when the Islamist refugee Salman Abedi murdered 22 people at a Manchester concert in 2017, consoled itself with the pop lyric “don’t look back in anger.” The same country that for decades ignored the rape of thousands of white girls by mostly Pakistani grooming gangs to avoid accusations of racism. A country that insisted Islam is simply a “religion of peace,” even as Islamism continued to inspire atrocities on its soil.

This posture is clearly self-destructive. It breeds resentment among the native population, and cynicism among immigrants, including those who have fully embraced British society, culture and norms, and who now see Britain as unwilling to defend itself. It has now also made life unsafe for other minorities. 

Britain spent centuries dissolving its own tribal rivalries to unite under the banner of one nation. But it has since managed within two generations to begin to re-tribalize. Its melting pot has proved too lukewarm. Take al-Shamie’s father, Faraj, a trauma surgeon who publicly denounced his son’s killings. He seemed at first to be the model immigrant, until his own views were unearthed: he had called on social media for Israel’s destruction, also praising Hamas and even Hitler. The rot in this case, as with many others, was inter-generational. 

The authorities may have missed a window in 2012 to flag al-Shamie. But they arguably missed a greater opportunity to prevent his family coming to the U.K. in the first place. It has long been a matter of liberal etiquette to pretend that all immigrants arrive with only superficial differences and are, in the round, a net bonus to Britain. 

This mantra has helped the establishment dismiss calls for a more selective admissions system. Yet, too many migrants arrive with the prejudices and ideological baggage one might expect. Polling by the Henry Jackson Society, for instance, found that 53% of British Muslim men believe Jews have too much power, while fewer than a quarter think enforcing Sharia law would be undesirable. 

Al-Shamie senior’s admiration for Hamas is also far from unusual. While most British Muslims would no doubt abhor the murder of Jews, there is a dissonance in the fact that many of them are supportive of Hamas, which is dedicated to killing Jews. Clearly, immigrants need to be more thoroughly screened before they are admitted. 

This reality undermines a central pillar of Britain’s immigration mythology. We convinced ourselves that the great danger was native prejudice against newcomers, despite the country’s exemplary tolerance. The far greater threat has been importing hatreds we had long tamed within our own society. 

At core, Britain’s multicultural experiment is failing because we insisted on seeing the world in our own image. Rather than admit it, our leaders have constructed an alternative reality in which failures are repackaged as opportunities for cohesion, with the leaders of otherwise siloed communities uniting briefly to denounce extremists. But the problem is far more daunting, and possibly intractable, than our politicians are willing to admit.

USA to admit 40,000 refugees. Guess who goes to the head of the line?

If you guessed Palestinians or Afghans, let me remind you that this is President Donald J. Trump's America, not the woke train wreck that preceded it. America is becoming great again! Anyhoo, a report from Reuters today says the new administration is discussing a refugee admissions cap of around 40,000 for the coming year, with a majority allocated to... wait for it... white South Africans!

Some readers may be puzzled by a story about white South African "refugees". Walt has written several times about the plight of the Afrikaners -- those of Dutch descent known as "Boers" (meaning "farmers") -- trying to get out of the moribund black-ruled state before their land is taken from them.

See, for instance, "Aussies welcome Boers fleeing South African land grab", WWW 14/3/18. Woke governments like those of Canada, the Disunited Kingdon and Joe Biden's USA have not welcomed them. "They're white supremacists, you know... believers in apartheid... racists... Nazis... Hitler..."

Not so the government of Australia, which (as the post linked above says) decided seven years ago that they were the kind of immigrants who would contribute something to a country where they would't be subject to anti-white racism.

Now the USA has done a 180 from the woke refugee policies of the Dimocrats. In an e-mail cited by Reuters, Angie Salazar, the top refugee program official at the Department of Health and Human Services, told state-level refugee workers that she expected the cap to be 40,000, with about 30,000 of those spaces allocated to  devoted to Afrikaners.

The 40,000-person cap would be a sharp drop from the 100,000 refugees brought in by Demented Joe in fiscal 2024, but higher than the record-low 15,000-person ceiling set for fiscal 2021 before the end of President Trump's first term. 

A separate person familiar with the matter said that in addition to the 40,000 figure, a cap as low as 12,000 had also been discussed. President Trump froze refugee admissions immediately after taking office in January, but weeks later launched a programme for Afrikaners, saying the white minority group suffered racial discrimination and violence in majority-Black South Africa.

I, for one, welcome the Boers to my corner of the forest. Chances are they'll do well here, like the Heysteks, who immigrated to Alberta, Canada in the late 1990s, when the black Africans took over the most prosperious country in Africa and started running it into the ground. Wanted Canada wide is affiliated with the “BROTHERS KEEPERS” #BKGang organized crime group out of the Lower Mainland. RVMP [sic] refers to this group as the "DHALIWAL CRIME GROUP".

Edmonton Police Service Acting Inspector Dave Paton claimed that Gang Leader Dhaliwal has been orchestrating his extortion network from overseas and his whereabouts are unknown.

Today, the Canadian Broadcorping Castration reports that the elusive Sikh, accused of orchestrating a string of arsons connected to extortion cases targeting South Asian home builders in Edmonton AB, has been arrested overseas. 

The Edmonton Police Service said in a news release that Maninder Singh Dhaliwal was apprehended in the United Arab Emirates on separate charges in late 2024. An application has been filed to have him extradited to Alberta.

The cops investigated 40 related incidents, with the last one — an arson — occurring on 26 July 2024. According to the news release, "This investigation has been a massive effort on the part of EPS investigators, with never-before-seen complexities involving international co-ordination. We are very pleased to see it conclude with the request for the extradition of Dhaliwal." 

A Canada-wide warrant for Mr Dhaliwal was issued last July in connection with a rash of extortion incidents that destroyed new or under-construction homes and left the city's South Asian community on edge. It's the latest in an ongoing investigation known as Project Gaslight, a probe into incidents targeting business owners in Edmonton, alleged to have been carried out by a group of local individuals under direction from India. 

Police allege that Dhaliwal, 34, is responsible for orchestrating the crimes from abroad — recruiting people in Edmonton and paying them to deliver threats and light properties on fire when demands for money transfers went unmet. They were investigating 40 crimes related to the spree, including arsons, drive-by shootings and firearms incidents. 

So far, the investigation to date has already resulted in a string of arrests. Last summer, Mr Dhaliwal and six other Sikhs -- four young men, a 17-year-old boy and a 20-year-old woman -- believed to have been involved in the scheme, were arrested and charged. A total of 54 charges were laid against them including extortion, arson, intentionally discharging a firearm, break and enter, assault with a weapon, and charges linked to committing a crime for a criminal organization.

The Canadian justice system being supremely politically correct, Mr Dhaliwal was released on bail, but failed to show up for his first court date. Quelle surprise! It was then that police suspected he might have left the country. Now -- if the lack of an extradition treaty with the UAE doesn't get in the way -- he will be back in the Great No-longer-white North, to be further dealt with by the law as the Trudeau Liberals experience it.

President Trump's plan to end the Great Replacement

Looks like a pretty sound plan to me.

For some time now, Walt has been thumping the drum for the re-election of the 45th President of the United State, Donald J. Trump, as POTUS No. 47. Tonight, the penultimate step on the path back to the Oval Office was taken as Citizen Trump formally accepted nomination as the nominee of the Republican Party at their convention in Milwaukee WI.

The TV coverage was awful. The leftie talking heads on NBC (terrible, terrible) or PBS (worse still) had their ultra-liberal, anti-Trump bias on full display. (I didn't check ABC or CBS because they didn't carry the convention, atleast not our neck of the woods.) They disparaged President Trump before and after he spoke. [Well, not exactly. NBC cut to Jimmy Kimmel 40 minutes or so before the end of Mr Trump's speech. Ed.] 

They couldn't didn't say so much during the warm-up acts, which consisted of a parade of the Donad's friends (e.g. Hulk Hogan) and family (e.g. Eric Trump), paying tribute to him, almost to the point of deification. (He was blessed by Franklin Graham.) Kind words were also said by a union leader, an e-stripper, a granddaughter, a talk show host and of course, a good many politicos.

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White called Trump "a real American bad ass." Kid Rock performed a song with the chorus, "Fight, fight!" And the great wrestling icon described him as "an American hero." Watching from his box overlooking the stage, President Trump may have even felt like he was witnessing his own celebration of life -- an appropriate video montage was shown -- and perhaps had some disturbing thoughts about how close the event was to being just that.

Thus it was no surprise when President Trump opened with, "I am not supposed to be here tonight. I’m not supposed to be here." The SRO crowd shouted back, "Yes you are!" But he insisted otherwise. "Thank you. But I’m not. I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of almighty God. Many people say it was a providential moment." Here's the full video. 

 

President Trump started off in "unity-candidate" mode. He invoked "confidence, strength and hope" before formally accepting the Republican nomination. Mending division was a theme that surfaced throughout his 90-plus minutes at the podium. (How long, one wonders, could the incumbent have held forth. Ten minutes? Five?) "I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America."

From there, it was on to a remix of President Trumps standard talking points, albeit more subdued than in times past. Iran sanctions, border enforcement, inflation, trade deals, the cost of energy, oil, tax cuts, infrastructure, the EV mandate, the auto industry, illegal migration. Routine topics. But the snappy taglines weren’t as present, and the name-calling had gone from boil to simmer. He spoke Biden's name only twice, instead referring to "that person", "the other guy", "this administration" and "our opponents".

His speech also avoided any direct reference to President Trump's more controversial governing plans and favourite topics, including the 2020 election, the "deep state", the events of January. 6th and his plans to deport millions of immigrants in the country illegally. Reading over my notes, I took the two main themes to be: 

* eneregy self-sufficiency, which he expressed as "Drill, baby, drill!", meaning to unlock the deep pool of "liquid gold" on which America sits. America, he said, could even become an exporter of energy. More energy -- from oil and gas, not the greenscam kind -- will mean lower prices, more jobs and a better economy "than ever before."

* strong, closed borders. "Close our borders!", he said. And start "from Day One" deporting the millions of illegal aliens who are responsible for rising crime rates, cities which aren't safe to live in, and the depletion of social security and healthcare resources. Getting rid of those people, Mr Trump said, would reduce homeless and crime, making America safe once again.

Sounds like a sound platform to me. Raise your hands, all those who do not want the US of A to be prosperous and safe, with a future that is secure for our children and grandchildren! Anybody? Make America Great Again! 

"Project Déjà Vu" proves Greater Toronto a truly multicultural city

This is the third in what promises to be a long line of posts, with identical headlines, about black crime and brown crime in the "Greater" Toronto Area of Canuckistan. We'll get to theat in a moment, but first.... 

Yesterday was Khalsa Day, a celebration of the Sikh religion combined with mostly peaceful demonstrations in support of the Free Khalistan movement. It's a must-attend event for Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface. He's the one on the extreme left [Geddit? Ed.], holding what appears to be a sword.

M Trudeau (for it is he) endeared himself to non-Sikh Indians and real Canadians by promising that he would always be there to defend Sikh rights. 

So impressed was the government of India that they summoned Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner Stewart Wheeler to explain "separatist slogans" shouted at the parade where Mr Sox gave his customary laudatory remarks. 

The leaders of Canada’s two major opposition parties — the Cuckservatives' Pierre Poilievre and the National Democratic Socialists' Jagmeet Singh, Canada's Most Important Sikh (TM) — also spoke at the event. 

All three pols agreed that Sikhs are wonderful people and have enriched the social fabric of Canada, especially Toronto and Vancouver. with their truck-driving schools, pro-Khalistan mostly peaceful demonstrations (such as the bombing of Air India flight 182), and political acumen that has seen them elect scores of turbaned politicians at federal, provincial and municipal levels. 

Of course the 1000s of Hindus and Muslims -- especially those who came to Canada as "refugees" and asylum-seekers -- have made their own Very Important Contributions, to be sure, but the Sikhs are Very Special Indeed, as Messrs Trudeau, Poilievre and Singh never tire of telling you. Got it? 

OK, now we come to the story of Project Déjà Vu, or Project Deja Vu, as it is known west of the Ottawa River. The project began in October of 2022, when Toronto police finally began investigating a synthetic-identity credit fraud scheme that had started some six years earlier. Right on the ball, guys!

Synthetic-identity fraud is a form of financial fraud where fictional personal information is used to open accounts in banks, financial institutions and other businesses. "But," said a spokesthingy for the TPS financial crimes unit, "this isn’t just about fraud. Accounts obtained under synthetic-identity are known to facilitate other serious criminal offences, including the laundering the proceeds of human trafficking, drug trafficking and armed robbery among other serious crimes

"The fraudulently obtained credit accounts were then drawn upon by way of in-store and online purchases, cash withdrawals, or electronic fund transfers. In many cases, fraudulent payments were made into the credit account to allow them to be drawn beyond their defined limits. To date, this scheme has resulted in confirmed losses of approximately $4 million."

The perps are alleged to have created more than 680 unique synthetic identities used to open hundreds of bank accounts. The boys in blue [black, shurely. Ed.] have executed more than 20 search warrants and 80 production orders to investigate this case and seized several dozen synthetic identity documents, electronic templates to create false identifications and false documents, hundreds of payment cards associated with bank/credit accounts obtained under synthetic identities, and approximately C$300,000 in cold, hard, Canadian cash.

12 Canadians (???) have been charged with 102 offences, including laundering proceeds of crime, fraud over $5000, and uttering forged document. Here are their names. Hasnain Akram, 28, of Brampton; Muhammad Hamza Baig, 31, of Ayr; Zelle Ali Choudary, 34, of Brampton; Rashad Iqbal, 41, of Caledon; Ranafayysal Masood Khan, 38, of Mississauga; Anmol Khurana, 27, of Markham; Fahad Ben Mofeez, 30, of Brampton; Muhammad Usman Saif, 32, of Brampton; Ali Sana, 26, of Brampton; Mian Muhammad Saud, 35, of Belle River [Where dat? Ed.]; Sibt Hussain Syed, 60, of Brampton; and Mueed Tanveer, 27, of Brampton.

A perusal of the list reveals three "Muhammads" and an "Ali" but not one "Singh" so it would be wrong to say that this is totally a Sikh thing. But there's not a single Irish or Scots or even English name in the lot. That proves my point, as stated in the headline, that Project Deja Vu demonstrates once again the benefits of mass immigration and government-mandated multiculturalism. Marvelous, isn't it?

According to the website of the Claremont Institute, of which he is a senior fellow, Jeremy Carl's primary focus is on immigration, multiculturalism, and nationalism in America. 

Prior to joining Claremont, Mr Carl worked for a decade as a research fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, serving as a policy advisor to many national political figures. While at Hoover, U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz praised his "mastery of subject matter" and "ability to write comprehensively and with clarity." 

He is the author and editor of several books on energy policy, most recently, Keeping the Lights on at America’s Nuclear Power Plants, lauded by Nobel-Prize Winning nuclear physicist Burton Richter and former Deputy Secretary of Defense John Hamre. His political writing and commentary has been featured in the National Review, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, T, National Review, and the Economist, among others.

Jeremy Carl's latest opus, The Unprotected Class (Regnery 2024), makes a strong argument that anti-white racism, undisguised and unembarrassed, is now official policy in America. 

One class of citizens -- whites -- is openly discriminated against in every sphere of public and private life. The Unprotected Class is a comprehensive explanation of how we got here and what we must do to correct a manifest and dangerous—injustice. 

Launched with an appeal to justice for all, the civil rights movement went off the rails even as it achieved its original goals. Soon its excesses and failures were exploited to justify discrimination against whites in business, education, law, entertainment, and even the church. With the death of George Floyd and the shedding of all pretense of racial justice, vindictiveness, resentment, and hatred were unleashed in America.

The Unprotected Class is available directly from the publisher (a lot cheaper than Amazon!) in hardcover or e-book form. Tell `em Walt sent ya! I haven't actually read it yet [That's a hint, dear reader! Ed.], but if Victor Davis Hanson recommends it, that's good enough for me.

From the website promoting his e-book, Why You Should Not Immigrate to Canada, it appears that the creator, who does not state his nationality, is a Russian who came to Canada "for the milk and honey" (as Don Cherry famously said), and was disappointed. 

In the book, which he summarizes in this video, he describes how he immigrated, his impressions in his first year in the Great No-longer-white North, and how they changed later.

To say he was disappointed is not to say that he's wrong. Poor Len and most of Walt's  Canadian friends say that Canuckistan is a great choice if you're a "refugee" or asylum-seeker fleeing Biden's America. If you're white, from Europe [or the USA! Ed.], not so much. 

If this guy had been from Africa or the Middle East, everything he desires would have been handed to him by Emperor Trudeau, in the name of DEI. That's all ye know and all ye need to know about "post-national Canada".

Multicult fails, France heading for civil war, sez former intelligence chief

"All my accumulated experiences make me foresee a dark, and even very dark, future for our children and grandchildren." That's what Pierre Brochand, the former director of DGSE, France’s top intelligence agency, told Le Figaro in an interview published on March 24th.

The interview is in French (of course) and is behind a paywall, so we're quoting from a translation posted on Remix News, a trustworthy site for European news. Their summary is headed: France's former intelligence chief warns against possible civil war due to mass immigration.

The stone truth which the people of western Europe and North America recognized -- but which their woke liberal leaders won't acknowledge -- is that the mass immigration of unassimilable racial and religious minorities is destroying our societies and our countries. As M Brochand puts it,  "All 'multicultural' societies are doomed to more or less deep rifts. In such a situation, it happens that minorities are violent winners, and majorities placid losers."

According to the former DGSE head, there is so much talk about immigration in France today because it is "increasingly difficult to prevent the French from seeing what they see" -- scenes of urban guerrilla warfare, fights between police officers trying to enforce the law and violent multi-recidivist criminals that were the initial cause of riots, shootings, and arson, as well as ambushes set up against the police squads called in as reinforcements.

M Brochand goes on to say that "a breakthrough personality has suddenly appeared in the formulaic world of politics that has encouraged them to open their eyes." He is referring to Éric Zemmour, who has succeeded in placing immigration at the heart of the current campaign for the presidency of the French Republic. Polls show an overwhelming majority opposed to immigration.

Although M Zemmour has succeeded in fixing voters' focus on the immigration issue, the more moderate Marine Le Pen, leader of the Front National, looks like the choice of conservative voters in the election to be held later this month. An Ipsos Sopra Steria Cevipof poll for Le Monde showed the small-but-perfectly-formed incumbent, Emmanuel Macron, would lead in the first round of votes on April 10th, with 26.5% versus 21.5% for Mme Le Pen. In the April 24th run-off, the pollsters say M Macron would beat Mme Le Pen by 54% to 46%. QED.

The Remix News article notes that Éric Zemmour is drawing the biggest crowds to his election rallies, and breaking audience records during his television appearances? Ironically, it may be M Zemmou's "unacceptable views" which make Mme Le Pen look like a moderate by contrast, although they both advocate the same solution for which M Brochand argues. "If we really want to regain control over our demography, we have no other choice than to make a 180-degree turnaround, that is to say, to send the message, loud and clear, that France will no longer be, for the foreseeable future, a welcoming country. This implies a global approach to the problem and unabated resolve in its implementation."

M Brochand goes so far as to warn that if Emmanuel Macron is re-elected and France does not radically change its policy, a civil war is on the horizon. "I hold the type of immigration, which we have been experiencing for half a century, to be an event 'out of category', without precedent in our history. And, quite honestly, I confess that I do not understand how free and enlightened minds can still underestimate its seriousness."

In order to see the seriousness of it, he explains, "one just needs to enumerate coldly its characteristics" and look at "the impact of what is happening to us." He points to the massive immigration flows, the type of immigration, with mostly migrant settlers, the "absence of political and economic regulation," the fact immigrants are mostly Muslims from outside Europe, their "spirit of post-colonial revenge," their "reluctance to mix" with the French, their "preference for endogamy," their "crystallization in diasporas," their fertility rate (higher than that of the French), and above all their "non-convergent evolution over generations," i.e. the fact that younger generations born of immigrants are "even less integrated with French society than their parents." 

For the former head of French intelligence, "this gradual upheaval of the French population, if not the only challenge we face, is the only one that directly threatens civil peace on our territory."

Le Figaro asked M Brochand if it's already too late to avert the destruction of French society. He answered, "It is very late. Let us face it: We are no longer dealing with dispersed individuals, that is to say, so many 'special cases', but with diasporas -- entities formed by immigrants and their descendants...who are grouped together and whose numbers reach a critical mass sufficient for social pressure to encourage the perpetuation of the beliefs and ways of life of the countries of origin, with which relations remain tense. This way, more or less closed foreign enclaves are spontaneously formed that turn their backs on the host country and its customs."

Sadly, M Brochand is very pessimistic about his country's future: "While I refuse to give up hope, I do not have too much illusion either about the possibility of the authorities regaining control over immigration flows. When we see that the program of the incumbent president, who is running for his re-election, continues to superbly ignore the subject, one cannot but reflect on how much history can be inescapable and irreversible, even when it leads us straight to the greatest misfortunes. 

"All my accumulated experiences make me foresee a dark, and even very dark, future for our children and grandchildren. At best, they are heading toward an unsuspected collapse of their quality of life (an implosion); at worst, we are leading them to terrible confrontations (an explosion)...." 

UPDATED: The menace on Canadian highways

Readers outside Canada may not have understood the reference to Sikh truck drivers in "Canuckistan immigration: Refugees prioritized over skilled workers", WWW 23/1/22. Here's a true (but not funny) story.

6 April 2018 was a clear, sunny day in central Saskatchewan. Roads were bare and dry. Flat and straight too, as roads in that part of Canada tend to be. An 18-wheeler travelling at about 60 mph through a flashing stop signal at the intersection of Highways 35 and 335, and collided with a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos, a junior hockey team enroute to a game.

16 people were killed. 13 were injured, some of them for life. It took the Mounties a full three months to charge the driver of the semi, 29-year-old Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, with 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily injury. 

Mr Sidhu is a Sikh. (Not all Singhs are Sikhs, but all Sikhs are Singhs.) He had come to Canada as a "student", and been allowed to stay as a permanent resident under the forerunner to Immigration & Refugee Canada's TR2PR programme, explained in yesterday's post. 

Another six months passed before Mr Sidhu pleaded guilty to the charges. He appeared in court without the turban which religious Sikh men must wear, but kept his beard and (one presumes) his special holy underpants. Whether he was carrying a kirpan is unknown.

Mr Sidhu was sentenced to 8 years in prison -- 6 months for each life he took. Under Canadian law, a sentence of that length should lead to immediate deportation, once the convict has done his time. But Mr Sidhu's lawyer has already sent volumes of paperwork to the Canada Border Services Agency arguing that his client should be allowed to stay in Canada "on compassionate grounds". 

Somewhere along the line -- surely not while he was out on bail -- Mr Sidhu got married. It wouldn't do to deprive his wife and child of their husband and father. Moreover, his lawyer says, Mr Sidhu is suffering from PTSD. "This never leaves (Sidhu) so he's battling his own post-traumatic stress as are so many people who've been touched by this. He’s...really committed to making something positive out of a terrible situation."

One of those who were "touched", Chris Joseph, whose son Jaxon died in the crash, is one of several Broncos families who have written letters asking for Sidhu to be deported. He told the Red Deer Advocate that deportation is the law and laws are there for a reason. "I can appreciate how 29 families can feel different ways about him but, in my view, the matter of deportation is not about forgiveness. It's not about how you feel about a person. It's not about whether you think he made a single mistake. If he’s deported, I could maybe even toy with the idea of considering forgiveness. But if he’s not deported, then we're going to be even more hurt and I don't think I'll ever get to that place." 

A decision was expected in November, but has been delayed until "later". Nothing to do with the Liberal government's "diversity and inclusiveness" agenda, of course.

Even if Mr Singh Sidhu is deported -- and you are advised not to bet on that -- there will be 1000s of other turbaned truck drivers barrelling along Canadian highways, especially in the "Greater" Toronto Area, just as they would do at home in "Khalistan". That you can bet on!

UPDATE added 8/2/22. A 22-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle from a Mississauga ON residence, then struck two unmarked police vehicles while attempting to evade arrest. Inspector Knacker of the Peel Police says that the vehicle was taken from a residence in the4 morning of 4 February. 

Investigators located the occupied vehicle in Etobicoke ON a short time later. It is alleged that the driver attempted to flee but struck two unmarked police vehicles. He then tried to get away on foot but was taken into custody. A suspect, identified as Gursimranpreet Singh, is now charged with possession of stolen property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Canuckistan immigration: Refugees prioritized over skilled workers

From the Great No-longer-white North comes a disturbing report of the overweaning wokeness of the Liberal government of Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface. "Diversity is our strength!", says Mr Socks, by which he apparently means that "diversity" and "inclusiveness" trump common sense, at least when it comes to immigration policy.

The Liberals' push to Build Back Better [Where have we heard that before? Ed.] is stalled, particularly in the real estate and housing sector, because there just aren't enough builders. Provincial governments from coast to coast to coast (as the saying goes) are crying for skilled workers -- electricians, carpenters, and (of course) the proverbial Polish plumbers. [British readers will get that. Ed.]

The federal bureaucracy in charge -- the name Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada says it all -- admits in a memo obtained by immigration lawyer Steven Meurrens and furnished to the National Post, that "an estimated 76,000" applicants are in the inventory for federal high-skilled worker (FSW) applications, which is more than the number needed to meet targets all the way out to 2023. Over 207,000 people are treading water in the so-called "express entry pool", which includes skilled workers, skilled trades and people with experience living in Canada.

However... Canada’s immigration system for such potentially useful immigrants is severely backlogged. Even though the labour shortage is critical, the wokesters in Ottawa are "pausing" new invitations because the department simply can’t process them quickly enough. Applicants nominated by provincial governments are still being "processsed", but other economic immigrants have been on hold since last fall. 

What (Walt hears you frostbacks asking) is the problem? Simple. The skilled workers aren't as important as these guys.

The Liberals' current immigration plan ["Is dis a plan?" Poor Len Canayen] forecasts bringing in 110,500 skilled workers next year, but the Immigration & Refugees department says in the same memo that could have to be cut by as much as half, because the department has so much other work.

Such as what? "These reductions are due to admissions space required to accommodate the TR2PR stream* and the resettlement of Afghan nationals to Canada." The Liberals initially pledged to bring 20,000 Afghans to Canada, but during last fall's federal election campaign doubled the pledge to 40,000. 

A new immigration "plan" will be tabled in Parliament when the House of Commons resumes in February. The department aims for a six-month processing time for FSWs, but the memo warns that processing times could rise dramatically. 

"Processing times are currently at 20.4 months (over three times higher than the service standard) and are expected to continue to grow as older inventory is processed. The FSW processing time is expected to rise to 36 months throughout 2022." Not much help there for the construction or other industries, but Sikh truck drivers will be easy to find. Pushtu-English interpreters too.

* TR2PR is another Liberal scheme to allow more unskilled third-worlders -- potential Liberal voters all! -- into Canada by the back door. Anyone who got into Canada in any way as a Temporary Resident -- for instance as a "student" (read: truck driver) -- can apply to become a Permanent Resident without further qualifications. 

An alternative to mass immigration?

Note from Ed.: This is for our Canadian readers, although we know many of our American (and Australian and British and French etc etc) would welcome this kind of initiative in their own countries. 

A poll by the well-known (and non-partisan!) Angus Reid Institute, published on the CityNews website six months ago, showed that a plurality of Canadians would like less immigration. 

The Liberal government of Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface plans to accept more than 400,000 newcomers in 2022. While there is some divide based on political stripes, 39% of those polled say the target is too high. A little more than a third believe that 411,000 is a good number and 13 per cent say Canada should welcome more people looking to immigrate. 

More people who voted NDP and Liberal in the past -- 43% and 47% respectively -- believed that Canada's target was appropriate. Residents of Alberta and Saskatchewan -- 50% and 54% -- were more likely to say the target should be scaled back. 

This opinion was also more common among people who've voted for Conservative in the past, 64% of whom disagreed with the target. Less than a quarter who voted Tory previously supported the Liberal plan to admit hundreds of thousands of new Liberal voters. 

Yet in the fall election, Erin O'Tool's CINO (Conservative In Name Only) Party did not raise, let alone oppose, the immigration issue. The only party to call for fewer (and better!) immigrants was Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada. French politics: Is Marine Le Pen going to get "out-niggered"?

In my usual coherent fashion, I will begin this update on prospects for the French presidential election, coming next May, with a story about the 45th governor of the great state of Alabama, George Corley Wallace, Jr. 

Mr Wallace served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives and later as judge in the Third Judicial Circuit Court, hence  his nickname "the Little Judge". He was known as a moderate on racial issues, and was associated with the progressive, liberal faction of Alabama politics.

During his first campaign for the governorship in 1958, Mr Wallace spoke out against the Ku Klux Klan, and although he endorsed segregation his centrist views won him the support of the NAACP. In contrast, his opponent John Patterson accepted the endorsement of the Ku Klux Klan and made racial issues a major part of his campaign.

Mr Patterson won the race for governor by a large margin. After this defeat, the Little Judge determined that in order to be elected governor he would have to change his position on racial issues, and told one of his campaign officials, "I was out-niggered by John Patterson. And I'll tell you here and now, I will never be out-niggered again." And he wasn't!

What (I hear you ask) does this have to do with French politics? Just this. Until recently, Walt's favourite Frenchperson, Marine Le Pen, leader of the conservative/populist Rassemblement National (National Rally), looked a good bet to defeat the incumbent President Macron, if not in the first round, then in the second, which includes only the two candidates who got the most votes in the earlier round. See "Referendum on immigration? What a novel idea!", WWW 10/10/21. 

But suddenly another contender has emeerged, from even deeper in right field. Behold Éric Zemmour, described by the controlled media as "a Donald Trump-like TV pundit". M Zemmour has not officially announced his candidacy, but has been organizing Trump-style rallies, and is expected to throw his chapeau into the ring very soon.

Éric Zemmour is considered even more right-wing than Mme Le Pen, who has noticebly softened some of the RN rhetoric, in an attempt to appeal to more moderate voters. M Zemmour, on the other hand, does not shy from calling a spade a spade. 

According to the Financial Times, he has been convicted twice of "racial or religious provocation", and has just published a book on the sujbect of national identity, La France n'a pas dit son dernier mot, which has sold 100,000 copies in the first week.

According to respected journalist Yves Mamou, M Zemmour represents the France of yesteryear: the France of Napoleon, Notre Dame de Paris and General Charles de Gaulle, a France that does not want to become an Islamic Republic. He often says "the danger for France is to become a second Lebanon," by which he means a country fragmented between sectarian communities that hate and fear one another.

M Zemmour (still quoting M Mamou) is the man who broke through the glass ceiling to insert into the media discussion topics such as "immigration" and "jihad" -- which no one had ever dared to talk about publicly. He is a man who embodies the fear of seeing traditional France -- the one of church steeples and the "baguette" -- disappear under the blows of jihad and political correctness.

The meteoric rise of Zemmour has had a second effect: he has broken a degrading electoral trap in which the French people are stuck: dividing the right to prevent them from returning to power. From the middle of the eighties until now, the media and the left, together, manufactured an industrial-strength shame-machine to stigmatize as "racist" and "Nazi" anyone who dared to raise his voice on issues of immigration.

M Mamou concludes: The Zemmour fight is just beginning. One thing, however, is certain: Zemmour is restoring an authentic democratic debate about topics -- security, immigration, Islam -- that really matter to the French. 

He's right about that, but I'm not so sure about his assertion that M Zemmour has broken the electoral trap, the splitting of the conservative/rightist vote. According to Politico's Poll  of Polls, President Macron is currently polling around 24%, with Mme Le Pen at 16% and M Zemmour at 15%. That sure looks like a split to me!

If only one candidate presented a real alternative to M Macron and his centre-left, one-world policies, he could be defeated. If that candidate were to be M Zemmour, there is the added problem that he's on his own. Without a primary system such as obtains in the US of A, he cannot take the leadership of the RN away from Mme Le Pen. He would be a "party of one".

If M Zemmour runs as an independent, all he can do is "out-nigger" Mme Le Pen, to the detriment of both of them and another seven years in opposition for those who represent the France of de Gaulle. Tant pis pour eux. Tant pis pour la France!

Referendum on immigration? What a novel idea!

How would you vote, dear reader, if you were allowed by your country's political elites to vote in a referendum on how many immigrants (if any) your country should "welcome"? Would you vote for Biden-style open borders? Or would you say "None is too many!"? 

But you won't get to express your opinion at the ballot box, will you? Not in the AABC countries -- America, Australia, Britain and Canada -- whose leaders pay lip service to "the will of the people", but don't want to know about it, when it conflicts with their plans for the New World Order.

If you live in France, however, you may be able to have your say next year.  Marine Le Pen, leader of the Rassemblement National (National Rally), has promised that if she is elected president in 2022, she will call a referendum proposing drastic limits on immigration.

The question will be, "Do you approve of the Citizenship Identity and Immigration bill that will present a comprehensive immigration control plan?"

Mme Le Pen told the meeja that the referendum would propose a complete draft bill that would drastically regulate immigration. Her plan would impose strict criteria for entering French territory and for acquiring French nationality. As well, French citizens would have priority access to social housing, jobs and social security benefits. "Refugees" and asylum-seekers would go to the back of the line. Imagine that!

In addition, her plan would facilitate more deportations, and require applications for asylum to be made overseas. The last point is something that has been discussed previously by the Danish government in recent months, with the Danish parliament voting for a proposal in June that could see asylum claims processed in asylum reception centres abroad.

Mme Le Pen also vowed to halt family reunification migration also known as "chain migration", which often accounts for a large number of migrants accepted every year in various countries such as Sweden where they outnumber new asylum claims. Her plan also includes the end of birthright citizenship, by which a child born of foreign parents is automatically granted citizenship for being born within the country where the mother happens to be at the time of birth.

In 2017, Mme Le Pen made it to the second round of the presidential election, but was defeated by the  "centrist" Emmanuel Macron. Little Emmanuel has not yet said whether he will stand for re-election, but opinion polls show him and Mme Le Pen as the likely two candidates to make it through to the second round, with M Macaroon seen as the eventual winner. Of course pollsters, being part of the controlled media, have been known to fudge the numbers to paint the liberal candidate as a shoo-in over the "extremist".

It must be said, though, that the situation has become complicated this month by a possible presidential run of right-wing talk-show star Eric Zemmour, who could split the far-right vote and allow a centre-right challenger to face M Macron. While he has yet to formally declare his candidacy, the conservative writer and pundit has seen a surge in popularity, according to a report from Reuters. 

A Harris Interactive poll released this week puts him ahead of Mme Le Pen in the first round of next spring's presidential election, with as high as 18% in one scenario, two points ahead of Mme Le Pen but still nine points behind the incumbent Macron. A projected second-round run-off between would put M Zemmour at 45%, to M Macron's 55%. 

But (here's the good news), a second-round vote between Mme Le Pen and M Macron, would be closer. 53% of respondents said they would vote for M Macron in that case, with 47% preferring Mme Le Pen. In today's politics in a country like France, a 6% lead is nothing. One must also allow for the phenomenon observed in the USA, where many voters were reluctant to tell pollsters their intention to vote for the "extremist".

In her presser, Mme Le Pen said that her proposals were "firm but realistic, therefore politically and legally viable and therefore enforceable." She noted that other presidential candidates and potential candidates had adopted firmer stances on immigration as well. 

"I'm not worried," she said. "I am convinced the French people will place us against Emmanuel Macron because we defend very different models of society. He stands for unregulated globalisation, I defend the nation, which remains the best structure to defend our identity, security, freedom and prosperity."

By the numbers: "In 2021, 134,000 foreigners entered the EU clandestinely, 68% more than in 2020. In the central Mediterranean, which particularly affects Italy, we see an 87% increase in landings since the beginning of the year. Arrivals from Libya and Tunisia have doubled. Patrick Buchanan asks: Is America becoming a failed state?

America is unable to win the wars she chooses to fight.

She cannot or will not control and defend her borders from a mass migrant invasion.

She cannot halt an outbreak of criminality and killing in her great cities.

She has not run a trade surplus in four decades.

Her dependency upon foreign producers is unprecedented.

And her budget deficits continue to break records every year — as does her soaring national debt.

Is that not the description of a failed or failing state?

Yes, I know many of our readers are getting tired of seeing pessimistic articles like this, not just in the conservative media but even in the controlled MSM. So let me add that if Mr Buchanan is right [Is there any doubt? Ed.], that doesn't mean the USA is doomed. Patriotic Americans can and must wake up, rise up, and do what must be done to save the country from implosion. 

A good place to start would be for those who voted Democrat in 2020 to realize that they made a huge mistake, and resolve to correct it, starting at the mid-term elections, or earlier in places where recall or other special elections will be held. If you love your country, you know what I mean. Do it!

Biden-Harris in office: the first four months

Sleepy Joe Biden, the man who the lickspittle media claim is the fairly elected President of the US of A, has been in office for four months. "In office" doesn't necessarily mean "in charge". Whoever's pulling Mr Biteme's strings has done a lot to "reset" America. If you're a Democrat, socialist or anywhere on the left end of the spectrum, you would say things are going well. We on the other side of the aisle beg to differ. Herewith a quick look at the Biden-Harris record, so far. 

Unnecessary stimulus The Democrats pushed through legislation for a relief package of close to $2,000,000,000,000 ($2 trillion). That newly minted money stimulated the economy, provided additional aid to the millions of unemployed workers and bailed out some cities and states that were damaged financially by Covid, and the damage done by the Antifa/BLM rioters and looters.

Was that stimulus needed? When President Trump was forced out of office, the American economy was in the middle of a V-shaped recovery from the deep but short-lived recession of the spring of 2020. In Q3 of 2020, GDP grew at an annualized rate of 33%. The growth rate was 4% in Q4, and 6.4% in the Q1 of 2021, when Mr Biteme assumed office.

The relief package will prove to be inflationary. The deficit for fiscal 2021 is projected to rise to at least $3.5 trillion, increasing the public debt (meaning money that you, your children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren etc will have to reply) to more than $30 trillion. When the feds remove that much capital from the market, there will eventually be a capital shortage, i.e. not be enough capital available to business for expansion. That will lead to more inflation.

Since January, the rate of inflation has risen to 6%. You may have noticed that last time you gassed up. Another consequence will be "stagflation" -- the slowing or stopping of growth -- which the US of A has not experienced in four decades!

The Biden-Harris tax plan will only make things worse. Democrats always want to "tax the rich", which to them means not the elites who can employ elaborate tax avoidance schemes, but folks like you and me who work hard and hope there will be a few pennies left after Uncle Sam takes his increasingly large cut. The Democrats want to raise the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, which will cause savvy businesses to move to more friendly jurisdictions, including Canada.

They also want to raise the capital gains tax rate from 23.8% to more than 40%. But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more. They propose to raise the top tax bracket from 37% to 39.6%. All of these Robin-Hoodian tax grabs will reduce capital formation making the capital shortage worse.

Vaccination

When he was sworn in, Sleepy Joe promised to get the anti-Covid vaccines approved during the Trump administration into the arms of at least 100 million Americans within his first 100 days. Thanks to the success of Operation Warp Speed, initiated by President Trump and spear-headed by Vice-President Pence, that goal was met and exceeded.

On the other hand [in the other arm? Ed.], thanks to the flip-flop messaging of Dr Fauci and the administration, antivax resistance has increased to the point where slowpoke [geddit? Ed.] Canada has more people per 1000 who have received at least one dose of vaccine. That's why the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM) remains closed in spite of pressure by Sen. Chuckie "Cheese" Schumer and others to let Americans resume shopping in Canada again.

Illegal immigration

At the instigation of the SJWs who control him, Mr Biteme reversed President Trump's immigration policies, allowing hundreds of thousands of immigrants to escape alleged persecution in their home countries. He professes his belief that America is a country founded on and still rife with "systemic racism". How admitting hordes of aliens who don't speak English and don't share the majority culture will help this is a question for which Sleepy Joe has no answer.

The Trump administration built (or at least started) a wall along America's southern border, and instituted policies to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants from south of the border and the shithole countries of Africa and the Middle East. The Biden administration stopped building the wall (in spite of court orders to finish the job) and reversed the President Trump's policies. The result is a massive illegal immigration problem, which Vice-President Harris refuses to acknowledge or even investigate by, say, visiting the infested counties along the southern border.

Climate change and the environment

Mr Biden makes the requisite obeisance to the importance of reversing climate change [like King Canute? Ed.] and protecting the environment. That's why he stopped any drilling for fossil fuels on publicly owned land, and, as one of his first acts, cancelled the Keystone pipeline expansion approved by President Trump. Then, all of a sudden, there's no gas, or limited quantities of expensive gas, in large areas of the southeastern states.

They say (of course) that's all the fault of foreign hackers who caused the shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline, which has now been fixed. But that incident underscores America's need for energy security, which is not going to come from wind/solar power. The US need to maintain good relations with a friendly source or petroleum products like, say, Canada.

That brings us back to the Keystone pipeline, and another pipeline -- Enbridge Line 5 -- which runs from western Canada through upper Michigan into eastern Canada. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer (Democrat) has ordered Line 5 closed down because, after nearly 70 years in operation, it might suddenly spring a leak into the Straits of Mackinac. Canada has asked President Biteme to intervene with a bit of common sense. Sleepy Joe's response? "Justin Trudeau? Who's that?"

Foreign policy

President Trump's foreign policy was "peace through strength". President Biteme thinks he knows better. He prefers the "turn the other cheek" policies of the Prez. It was President Trump's sanctions which crippled Iran, leaving them with little money to finance Islamic terrorism. Creepy Joe has chosen not to enforce the sanctions, so, right after the fake election of 2020, Iran began selling oil again.

President Trump had negotiated five peace agreements in the Middle East. Now, just four months into the Biden presidency, Hamas and Hezbollah have resumed their terrorist activites in the Holy Land, to the point of a nearly full-scale war. A White House spokesthingy said on Tuesday that Israel has a legitimate right to defend itself from Hamas rocket attacks but applied pressure on Israel over the treatment of Palestinians, saying Jerusalem "must be a place of co-existence."

Apparently the goal is to "rebalance" US policy, after President Trump sided with Israeli on all fronts. Another "success" trumpeted by the controlled media is President Biteme's promise to get American military forces out of Afghanistan by 9/11. Such "turn the other cheek" responses to the aggressions of our enemies can only embolden others, such as Russia, China and North Korea. Is the world a safer, more peaceful place now that the Democrats have taken on the task of promoting peaceful co-existence? Hardly. 

In summary... 

To his supporters and the liberal elites, Mr Biden is doing a great job. It may be that his administration has improved the perception of social justice and equity. But the price Americans are paying for massive illegal immigration, high inflation, higher taxes and a less safe world, is far too high.

Those of us not wearing rose-coloured glasses see problems (read: incipient disaster) in every area. Things can only get worse. Lifetime pct .979.
