Can you say "stalemate", boys 'n' girls?

Call me a traitor if you like, but it has to be said that the US of A has form for starting wars which it can't finish. Before Afghanistan, Iraq and Vietnam we can point all the way back to the War of 1812, which then POTUS James Madison said would be "only a matter of marching", all over in a month or so. Does this sound familiar?

Since the outcome of the War of 1812 is barely mentioned in US schools nowadays, let us review how Madison's little excursion turned out. There was fighting, mostly on the Canadian (British, in those days) side of the Great Lakes. The Royal Navy attacked and burned the American capital, causing Dolly Madison to pack up her dishes and flee the White House. The Americans won the final battle (New Orleans) nearly a month after a truce had been agreed. The borders of the US of A remained as they had been ante bellum. Much treasure and blood was expended, but nothing was gained.

Walt predicts a similar outcome for the American-Israeli war on Iran.

Again, call me a traitor if you like, but I don't see a lot of winning going on here! The Israelis are said to have invaded Lebanon, but that's a sideshow. The Big Show is Iran. The mission (so far as we can understand it) is to (a) terminate the Chief Mullah and so (b) to effect the overthrow of the Islamist theocracy, while also (c) ensuring that Iran would never have nuclear weapons and (d) the supply of Big Oil would be secure forever more, Or (e) all of the above.

Three weeks in, after the loss of dozens of American lives and expenditure of many millions of dollars, as nearly as Walt can see, only (a) has been accomplished. So what? The same gang of mullahs may be hiding behind a cardboard cutout of the Son-of-the-Mullah, but they're still in control. A few oil tankers are getting through the Strait of Hormuz, but the US is clearly incapable of keeping that channel oopen to the point where President Trump is almost screaming "A little help here!?!?" at America's fair weather friends.

I can't see any favourable outcome to this conflict. POTUS says it'll be over when he thinks it's over, but when will that be? Seems to me the stage is being set for a declaration of victory and a "withdrawal" under cover of a cease-fire which will be touted as a Big Win, just like that over Hamas a few months ago.

Many Americans have been killed. US military bases in the Gulf are burning. America's so-called allies are running for diplomatic cover. The only "winning" is being done by the Israelis, who are finishing what they couldn't do in 1967. Clearly the US of A has lost control of a war that will not end until Iran says so.

Any realist has to call the situation a strategic stalemate, with intense air campaigns failing to force capitulation or halt Iranian retaliations. While initial strikes damaged infrastructure, Iran has continued targeting energy routes in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a protracted conflict with no clear endgame. Iran has successfully targeted global energy security, creating a protracted war.

The stalemate is causing major global disruptions, with oil prices rising over $100/bbl and increasing economic uncertainty in other regions, notes. It's hard to see how this ends except in a "draw" where both sides declare victory, or settle into a low-level, long-term confrontation that could reshape the region. Or not.

I would dearly love to be wrong. I would like to see the people of Iran liberated from the yoke of Islamist oppression. I have similar hopes for the people of Venezuela and (even more so) the people of Cuba. But we're not there yet... are we...

VIDEO: Taliban fighters being trained by British officers!

Further to our report on the outbreak of hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan, we pass along this shocking video, which reveals that British army officers -- the first one shown is a Scot, the second English -- are training the Afghan Taliban for combat!

We don't refer to this as "boot camp" becauase it appears that these soldiers of the Prophet have no boots. Perhaps, after the battle, they will be able to get some off the feet of the other soldiers of the Prophet. Good luck lads!

Muslim civil war flares up again

While we were preoccupied with ICE, Cuba, Epstein and other things closer to home, the followers of the Religion of Peace(TM), having tired (for the moment) of attacking Jews and Christians, have resumed attacking each other.

Pakistan's defence minister said yesterday the country is in "open war" with Afghanistan, after Islamabad launched airstrikes on Kabul as part of a wave of attacks across the country. "Our patience has now run out," said Khawaja Muhammad Asif following the attacks.

The strikes came after the Afghan Taliban [You mean there's more than one Taliban? Ed.] announced a major offensive against Pakistani military posts near the border on Thursday night. Thanks to "Angry_Old_Man_2" at Blazing Cat Fur, we have a photo of Talibaners being trained for the assault.

The latest attacks follow months of clashes between the two neighbouring nations, despite agreeing last October to a ceasefire, which has proven to be more an idea than a reality.

Walt sez: Have at it boys. May the best Muslim win, and may Allah step lightly on your heads.

Good news from Occupied Germany

If you've been waiting for my comment on the staged, boring, counter-factual, dismal, CNN interview of the Cackler and her valorous protector... you just had it. Let's turn our attention to das Vaterland, where, right now, millions of people are voting against migration and wokeness.

Why, here's a voter right now! His sign asks German chancellor Olaf Scholz how many more Germans must die at the hands of Islamic terrorists. He's referring, no doubt, to atrocities like the recent stabbings in Solingen. See "More 'Allahu akbar!' in Germany... implications for USA and Canada". WWW 26/8/24.

This weekend, in the German States of Saxony and Thuringia, comes the reckoning for Herr Scholz and his Social Democratic Party (the German equivalent of America's Dimocrats), who, under the leadership of Angela Merkel, encouraged the occupation of Germany by hordes of "refugees" and asylum-seekers who are hell-bent on establishing a European caliphate.

In those states (which, significantly, were part of East Germany), the rightist Alternativ für Deutschland (AfD) is on the cusp of winning the most votes in German state elections for the first time since the days of Hitler.

For the gliberals, progressives, and one-worlders, that's a nightmare -- like the rise of MAGA in the US of A -- but others, particularly in the east, say the AfD is the last chance to get their country back. Cries of "Deutschland den Deutschen!" are loud in the land!

Just as in America, the temperature of German politics has been rising all year. At an SPD rally in Thuringia, protesters (like the one pictured) shouted "Liar!) at Chancellor Scholz. Chants of "Volksverräter" -- "Traitor to the people" -- were also heard.

Polling shows the SPD (and its Green and Liberal coalition partners) are doing so badly in Thuringia that they may not even get a single seat in the state parliament. The AfD, by contrast, tops the polls with 30% to the SPD's 22%.

Meanwhile, in neighbouring Saxony, the AfD is running neck and neck with the conservative CDU. The knife attack in Solingen, in which a Syrian asylum-seeker and jihadi wannabe killed three people, has fuelled fierce criticism of how successive "liberal democratic" governments have handled migration. In a response which can only be described as "panicky", ministers announce tougher asylum regulations and knife crime laws.

[How much tougher? Ed.]  Well, for one thing, they are actually in the process of deporting a handful of "irregular migrants" who asylum claims were denied.

Yesterday, a deportation flight bound for Afghanistan left Leipzig with 28 -- count `em, 28 -- Afghanis on board. That leaves only a million or so benefits-shoppers still in Germany. According to the Ministry of the Interior, those on the flight are convicted criminals from various states across Germany. Der Spiegel reported that each deportee, all of whom were male, received a payment of €1000 ($1100 in real money). The spokesthingy for Saxony’s Interior Ministry was unable to confirm this.

The flight marks Germany’s first deportation of Afghans back to their home country since the Taliban retook power there in August 2021, after the Biden Bug-out. In a presser following the flight's departure, a government spokesthingy emphasized that Berlin was not in direct talks with the Taliban. Rather,  he said, it secured the deportation through the mediation of "key regional powers" whom he carefully refused to name.

He did add, though, that the German government has made "intensive efforts" to deport migrants who have committed serious crimes back to Afghanistan and Syria in the wake of a knife attack -- not Solingen, but the "Allahu akbar!" incident in the southwestern city of Mannheim at the end of May. The German immigration control authorities have laboured mightily, it seems, and brought forth... well... see above.

"Allahu akbar!" in Vienna

As is well known, there is no prostitution in countries where the Religion of Peace (TM) dominates in law or in fact. Prostitution is haram... dirty... taboo... not good. In other countries, where people are not wise enough to follow the teachings of the Prophet, prostitution and prostitutes must be eliminated. Thus such societies can be cleansed.

That explains the news just in over the AP mojo wire from Austria, where police in Vienna launched a criminal investigation after three women were found dead in a brothel yesterday. (Brothels are legal in Austria.) A witness discovered traces of blood outside the building, located near the Danube River, and alerted police.

"The bodies of the three victims had cuts and stab wounds," said a spokesthingy for der Polizei. Police found a fourth woman inside the brothel, and are questioning her as a witness. The identities and ethnicity of the three victims remains unclear.

A 27-year-old man was arrested in the vicinity of the brothel while carrying a knife, which the cops say is the murder weapon. The man arrested, who is even now helping police with their investigations, is... wait for it... an asylum-seeker from Afghanistan.

A sensible view of demands to retaliate against Iran

Most of Walt's readers don't read (or haven't heard of!) the National Post. Founded by Conrad Black, sometime Canadian (when he wasn't busy being Lord Black of Cross Harbour) and arch-conservative, the Post (and its group of Sun newspapers) is the only media outlet in Canuckistan which takes a reasonably balanced view of the world.

One of the Post group's premier columnists is Kelly McParland, who wrote an excellent piece today on the stupidity of the Excited States of America's entering yet another war in the Middle East. Mr McParland argues that the Republicans who are pressing Crooked Joe Biden to hit back at Iran for the drone strike that killed three US soldiers [How come all three were black? Ed.?] are all but insane to advocate such folly.

Worse, they are urging a course of action which President Trump has rightly and repeated condemned. I've emphasized Mr Trump's words in Mr McParland's column, which I'm reposting, in a slightly shortened version. (To read the entire column, click on the headline link.)

Biden pressed to start another 'stupid' war

If you disliked Donald Trump but were determined to say something positive about him, you could always cite his consistent criticism of “stupid” American wars. It’s a position that hits home with a lot of people — Democrats as much as Republicans — who have lost loved ones in distant countries over matters a lot of Americans don’t view as their responsibility to solve.

Trump has been nothing if not consistent on the point. While campaigning for re-election in 2020 he boasted of his efforts to reduce U.S. military deployments overseas and pledged to "keep America out of these endless, ridiculous, stupid, foreign wars in countries that you’ve never even heard of."

He regularly assails the Biden administration over its defence performance — particularly the bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan, insists he could end the Ukraine war in 24 hours as president, and says the White House "has brought us to the brink of World War III."

His admirers like to cite his record of having "no wars" during his four years in office — a claim with some merit compared to recent predecessors. One 2017 study concluded that crucial Trump victories in three key states in the 2016 election may have been helped by concern over high casualty rates under previous administrations. All of which makes it a bit odd that top Republicans are loudly demanding the sort of retaliatory action against Iran that history suggests would be an excellent way to start yet another ill-fated U.S. military entanglement....

"The only answer to these attacks must be devastating military retaliation against Iran’s terrorist forces, both in Iran and across the Middle East. Anything less will confirm Joe Biden as a coward unworthy of being commander-in-chief," said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who is backing Trump’s renewed bid for the presidency.

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell charged in a statement that "the entire world now watches for signs that the President is finally prepared to exercise American strength to compel Iran to change its behaviour."

He said U.S. enemies would continue to be emboldened "until the United States imposes serious, crippling costs — not only on front-line terrorist proxies, but on their Iranian sponsors who wear American blood as a badge of honour." Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and John Cornyn both fired off tweets insisting the White House aim hits directly at Iran, while Trump himself used the attack to criticize Biden for his "weakness."

Given the Middle East’s status as one of the world’s most relentlessly volatile regions, Iran’s success in spreading its tentacles throughout the region, the tensions already centred on the bitter confrontation in Israel and Gaza and the growing boldness of Iran’s determination to taunt western powers, it’s difficult to see how yet another one-off U.S. retaliatory effort could accomplish anything other than increasing the danger the region’s many festering hot spots erupt into one giant conflagration.

In other words, just the sort of "endless", "stupid" foreign war that Trump has so often derided, and just the sort of quagmire the mullahs in Tehran would love to see sweep over the region. Chaos and conflict work to the benefit of regimes like Syria’s and Iran’s, helping focus hatred on foreign powers rather than the brutality and repression they inflict on their own people.

A few quick missile strikes on known Iranian dependents in Syria or Iraq, or even Iran itself, might raise cheers for a day or two in Washington but would be yet another opportunity for Tehran to recruit the sort of fanatics who think spilling more blood is a good reaction to all the blood that’s already been spilled. Jumping impulsively into doomed conflicts is indeed a trait that has brought the U.S. tragedy and humiliation time and again.

Vietnam was a quagmire. It was far harder for the Obama and Trump administrations to get US troops out of Iraq than it was for the Bush White House to get them in. The US disaster in Benghazi may not have killed Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign all on its own but was certainly a nail Republicans hammered at enthusiastically. And Joe Biden’s rush to flee Afghanistan was a fiasco from which he’s never managed to recover.

It’s easy to understand the temptation to use Washington’s immense military might to strike back at a country that works so hard to bring despair to so many people. But in pressing Biden to risk lives for the sake of a quick headline or two, Republican leaders are demanding a response that’s diametrically opposed to what their favoured candidate has been preaching since the day he entered politics.

Would they be making the same demand if it was a Republican sitting in the White House, forced to confront the prospects of setting off a regional explosion, complete with body bags being shipped back home? If so it would be evidence they’d learned no more about the dangers of stumbling into foreign wars than the presidents who sent U.S. sons and daughters into Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, and came to regret it.

Everything happened at once, Part 3

21 years ago today

Yes, I am well aware that this is the 21st anniversary of 9/11. And I know the topic of who dunnit and what happened after that has been done to death. But I think it's worth revisiting as Americans ask themselves which is the right party to entrust with national security in these ever more troubled times.

Recommended reading: The Greatest Story Ever Sold: The Decline and Fall of Truth from 9/11 to Katrina, by New York Times columnist Frank Rich, Penguin Press, 2006. As you would expect, considering who Mr Rich worked for, the book is an attack on President George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and the Republican Party.

But... in revealing how the American people were suckered into supporting an unprovoked war on Iraq (and later Afghanistan), Mr Rich reveals how Deep State, which is non-partisan, co-opted his newspaper and the rest of the lickspittle media. 21 years later, the same mass media are conspiring, at the behest of Deep State and the WTF giants who fund them, to gull you into believing that you should overlook the disastrous failures of the Biden administration and leave them in control of Congress. "Don't worry folks, everything's gonna be OK. Trust us (again)!"

When the Islamic extremists -- the jihadis -- attacked the US of A on 9/11, Americans almost unanimously rallied behind its new, untested president. The papers, notably but not only the NYT and WAPO, and the TV networks, particularly CNN, organized the cheerleading, which went on 24/7 until years after the resolution authorizing the invasion of Iraq had been passed.

That there was no basis whatever for the claims that the Iraqis had, or were about to have weapons of mass destruction (WMD), or that Saddam Hussein was in cahoots with Al-Qaeda, was ignored or suppressed, just as all those stories about the nefarious dealings of Son Hunter are being suppressed today.

One is reminded of the story of the famous American painter, Frederic Remington, who was sent by William Randolph Hearst, the master of yellow journalism, to cover the incipient Spanish-American war. When he reported from Havana that there was nothing going on, Mr Hearst allegedly replied, "You furnish the pictures. I'll furnish the war."

So it was after 9/11. The priority of the Deep State behind Dubya was not to vanquish Al-Qaeda but to consolidate its own power at any cost. It was a mission that could be accomplished only by a propaganda presidency in which reality was steadily replaced by a scenario of the White House's own invention. Thus it was that America was led for a second time to intervene in the Muslim civil wars, and attack a small and impotent country which had never attacked it.

The Republicans and the lickspittle media intimidated the Democrats into incoherence and impotence, and turned the presidential election of 2004 into an irrelevant referendum on macho imagery and same-sex marriage. Mr Rich's book shows, with a day-by-day timeline, how the institutions that should have exposed these fictions -- the mainstream news media -- were too often left powerless by the administration's relentless attack machine and their own unquestioning political correctness.

Nothing has changed. If anything, the situation has worsened. The Biden administration controls the media. Deep State controls the administration. Are Americans going to be fooled again?!

One final thought. Among the political leaders who rallied behind the Bush War effor was none other than Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.  During the run-up to the last election campaign, Demented Joe claimed that despite voting to authorize military force against Iraq in 2002, he opposed the Iraq war from "the moment" it began. That's a lie. Read "Biden's Record on Iraq War", FactCheck.org (a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center), 10/9/19. What follows are excerpted from the article.

Biden never outright opposed military action in Iraq in the immediate days after the start of the invasion, as he claimed. He now admits his recent comments went too far. During the second Democratic primary debate on July 31, Biden said his “bad judgment” in voting to authorize President George W. Bush to use military force against Iraq in 2002 was “trusting the president saying he was only doing this to get inspectors in and get the U.N. to agree to put inspectors in.”

In a speech days before the 2002 vote, Bush did say approving the resolution “does not mean that military action is imminent or unavoidable,” but he also laid out in detail why military action “may” be needed. And on the day the war broke out, Biden acknowledged, “We voted to give him the authority to wage that war. We should step back and be supportive.”

It wasn’t until Nov. 27, 2005, that Biden acknowledged on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that his 2002 vote authorizing force in Iraq was “a mistake.” “It was a mistake,” Biden said. “It was a mistake to assume the president would use the authority we gave him properly. … We gave the president the authority to unite the world to isolate Saddam. And the fact of the matter is, we went too soon. We went without sufficient force. And we went without a plan.”

Right now, the Democrats and their propaganda machine are manufacturing -- just as in 2001 -- "threats to national security", which they are trying to lay at the feet of President Trump. Don't listen to them. Listen to me! The greatest threat to the safety, security and well-being of America and Americans does not come from within Mar-a-Lago, but from within the White House. Keep that in mind when you vote in November.

OK, al-Zawahiri is dead... but al-Qaeda is not. What now?

President Brandon announced yesterday that al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed by an American drone strike which struck a "safe house" in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he was said to be hiding. The Taliban had promised, when they took over Afghanistan after the American bugged out, that the country would no longer be a haven for Islamic terrorists. But they lied, and everyone knew that.

Al-Zawahri and the better known Osama bin Laden plotted the 9/11 attacks that brought most of us in the West our first knowledge of al-Qaeda, the organization of Islamic extremists responsible for terrorism in the name of Allah which has killed many 1000s worldwide. Bin Laden was killed by US Navy Seals in Abbotabad, Pakistan on 2 May 2011, but al-Qaeda lived on, and lives on now.

A good question to ask, then, is: what happens next? Let's not kid ourselves that the Islamic terrorism will stop. The execution of al-Zawahiri, just though it certainly was, may well have opened up the hornet's nest. Americans would do well to sleep with one eye open.

Canuckistan immigration: Refugees prioritized over skilled workers

From the Great No-longer-white North comes a disturbing report of the overweaning wokeness of the Liberal government of Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface. "Diversity is our strength!", says Mr Socks, by which he apparently means that "diversity" and "inclusiveness" trump common sense, at least when it comes to immigration policy.

The Liberals' push to Build Back Better [Where have we heard that before? Ed.] is stalled, particularly in the real estate and housing sector, because there just aren't enough builders. Provincial governments from coast to coast to coast (as the saying goes) are crying for skilled workers -- electricians, carpenters, and (of course) the proverbial Polish plumbers. [British readers will get that. Ed.]

The federal bureaucracy in charge -- the name Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada says it all -- admits in a memo obtained by immigration lawyer Steven Meurrens and furnished to the National Post, that "an estimated 76,000" applicants are in the inventory for federal high-skilled worker (FSW) applications, which is more than the number needed to meet targets all the way out to 2023. Over 207,000 people are treading water in the so-called "express entry pool", which includes skilled workers, skilled trades and people with experience living in Canada.

However... Canada’s immigration system for such potentially useful immigrants is severely backlogged. Even though the labour shortage is critical, the wokesters in Ottawa are "pausing" new invitations because the department simply can’t process them quickly enough. Applicants nominated by provincial governments are still being "processsed", but other economic immigrants have been on hold since last fall.

What (Walt hears you frostbacks asking) is the problem? Simple. The skilled workers aren't as important as these guys.

The Liberals' current immigration plan ["Is dis a plan?" Poor Len Canayen] forecasts bringing in 110,500 skilled workers next year, but the Immigration & Refugees department says in the same memo that could have to be cut by as much as half, because the department has so much other work.

Such as what? "These reductions are due to admissions space required to accommodate the TR2PR stream* and the resettlement of Afghan nationals to Canada." The Liberals initially pledged to bring 20,000 Afghans to Canada, but during last fall's federal election campaign doubled the pledge to 40,000.

A new immigration "plan" will be tabled in Parliament when the House of Commons resumes in February. The department aims for a six-month processing time for FSWs, but the memo warns that processing times could rise dramatically.

"Processing times are currently at 20.4 months (over three times higher than the service standard) and are expected to continue to grow as older inventory is processed. The FSW processing time is expected to rise to 36 months throughout 2022." Not much help there for the construction or other industries, but Sikh truck drivers will be easy to find. Pushtu-English interpreters too.

* TR2PR is another Liberal scheme to allow more unskilled third-worlders -- potential Liberal voters all! -- into Canada by the back door. Anyone who got into Canada in any way as a Temporary Resident -- for instance as a "student" (read: truck driver) -- can apply to become a Permanent Resident without further qualifications.

"Allahu akbar!" in... Afghanistan?! What'd I tell you...

The Associated Press mojo wire today spat out a story from Afghanistan which attracted only a little notice from the controlled media. In "Taliban-controlled Afghanistan" (the new politically correct way of referring to the shithole that 1000s of Westerners died trying to civilize), an ISIS suicide bomber struck at a mosque packed with Shiite Muslim worshippers in the northern city of Kunduz.

Friday is a prime day of Muslim-on-Muslim attacks, because followers of the Prophet can be found kneeling in prayer, heads down and asses up. You can't miss! Today's bombing sent at least 46 people to Paradise, and wounded dozens more.

In its claim of responsibility, broadcast on the ISIS-linked Aamaq news agency, the region’s ISIS affiliate identified the bomber as a Uygher Muslim, saying the attack targeted both Shiites and the mainly Sunni Taliban for their purported willingness to expel Uyghers to meet demands from China. The blast was just the latest in a series of ISIS bombings and shootings that have targeted Afghanistan's new Taliban rulers, as well as religious institutions and minority Shiites since American and other NATO troops fled in disarray at the end of August.

May I now say for the last time [Really? Ed.] that Western nations had no business intervening in what was and still is an ongoing Muslim civil war. Likewise, we have no responsibility to send millions of dollars in food and other aid to avoid the imminent "humanitarian disaster" which the liberals are now saying is somehow all our fault. The Islamists' "Religion of Peace" is the cause of their misery. That's all ye know and all ye need to know.

Taliban sponsors Olympic hockey team

In an effort to improve its image following the rather bloody ouster of the American invaders from Afghanistan, the Taliban have decided to sponsor an ice hockey team to play in the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Beijing.

"We think it's a good fit," said Hassan ben Sober, the Minister of Sport and Mayhem. "We want to do something to show our appreciation for Chinese support during our struggle against the Western crusaders, and it's well known that hockey is a sport in which trying to behead your opponents is not just tolerated but encouraged."

Since the new Taliban government has not been recognized by any Western government [Not even Canada? Ed.], the team will not be able to play under the name of Afghanistan, so will be nominally under the sponsorship of neighbouring Pakistan, and will be called the "Pakistan Raiders".

It's not entirely a fiction. Owing to a dearth of ice in Afghanistan, the team will hold its training camp in the Khyber Pass, well known for an abundance of snow and ice at this time of year.

"Obviously we've had to do everything in a hurry," said Mr ben Sober, "since the games are going to be held in February. We don't have time to build a team from scratch, so we're borrowing things from other countries which developed hockey programmes. Our sweaters, for instance, are in the colours of the Jamaican national team, which was so successful at bobsledding some years ago."

The Raiders are also importing players from friendly hockey-playing countries, such as Canada. There is a problem, though, with using players, like the one pictured, who are not old enough to grow a decent Islamic beard. "We hope that false beards and black greasepaint will do the trick," said Mr ben Sober, "to convince our opponents that we have real men playing for us... and also keep those fuzzy-cheeked boys from being too appealing to our own people."

Biden's tough response to Afghanistan defeat: Kill some kids

In a futile attempt to appear something less than weak and incompetent in the aftermath of the killing of 13 Americans troops just before the tail-betwee-the-legs withdrawal of US forces at the end of August, "President" Biden promised those responsible for the dastardly attack in Kabul, "We will hunt you down. We will make you pay." Watch the video, from 0:51 to the end.

Of course Sleepy Joe didn't name those responsible, but most of us wanted to believe that he (or those who pull his strings) had in mind the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP - aka ISIS-K), named by AlJazeera as IS's affiliate in Afghanistan. Many of us, knowing Mr Biden's track record of saying much and delivering little, and knowing that US forces would be out of Afcrapistan in a matter of days, said, "Good luck!"

Thus the Americans responsible for the debacle came immediately under the pressure of public opinion to Do Something, Fast. And so they did. We were told that although the US military was pulling out of the shithole, it still had "over-the-horizon" capability, meaning that it could blow up things animate and inanimate from the safety of a bunker in a neighbouring friendly country, such as... errr...

On August 29th, the Pentagon announced that a drone strike, controlled from an undisclosed location, had succeeded in killing an ISIS-K militant loading his car with explosives in preparation for yet another attack on retreating Americans and their Afghan collaborators. The New York Times has extensive video coverage here

Sadly, the NYT videos are now he3adlines "Did a U.S. Drone Strike in Afghanistan Kill the Wrong Person?" The answer to their question is YES. Ten Afghan civilians, including seven children, died in the carnage shown in this picture.

The drone strike sent a 20-pound Hellfire missile into the car of Zemari Ahmade, an aid worker. Military intelligence -- an oxymoron if ever there was one -- called the threat posed by the car "imminent", and defended the drone attack as a "righteous strike."

Officials said the military believed the car was being packed with explosives for an attack. But footage obtained by the Times suggests Mr Ahmadi was actually loading the car with water containers for his home, where the water supply had been cut off.

Mr Ahmadi was a 14-year employee of Nutrition & Education International, an American NGO that fights malnutrition. He helped start up soy factories, repair machinery, transport his colleagues and distribute food from his Corolla to displaced Afghans.

The use of drones in counterterrorism operations has consistently been among the most controversial aspects of America's global war on terror, particularly due to their association with civilian casualties.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and General Mark Milley have yet to appear before any Congressional committee to defend their roles in the Middle East mess. But it doesn't appear that they have any plans to stop raining down fire and brimstone from over the horizon.

After all, children have been used as suicide bombers before, right? So the Pentagon may have been right after all. Who ya gonna believe -- the US military or the New York Times?

Dr. Ron Paul: Twenty years on, we’ve learned nothing from 9/11

Ed. here. What follows is Dr Ron Paul's column from the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prospertity, reposted with permission. Thank you, Dr Paul, for your clear and constant warning abouot the dangers of big government and the folly of meddling in foreign affairs which are none of our business.

Nothing upset the Washington Beltway elites more than when in a 2007 presidential debate I pointed out the truth about the 9/11 attacks: they attacked us because we’ve been in the Middle East, sanctioning and bombing the civilian population, for decades. The 9/11 attackers were not motivated to commit suicide terrorism on the Twin Towers and Pentagon because they dislike our freedoms, as then-President Bush claimed. That was a self-serving lie.

They hated – and hate – us because we kill them for no reason. Day after day. Year after year. Right up until just a few days ago, when President Biden slaughtered Zemari Ahmadi and nine members of his family - including seven children - in Afghanistan. The Administration bragged about taking out a top ISIS target. But they lied. Ahmadi was just an aid worker, working for a California-based organization, bringing water to suffering Afghan village residents.

This horror has been repeated thousands of times, over and over, for decades. Does Washington believe these people are subhuman? That they somehow don’t care about their relatives being killed? That they don’t react as we would react if a foreign power slaughtered our families?

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright famously suggested in an interview that killing half a million Iraqi children with sanctions designed to remove Saddam Hussein from power was “worth it.” It was an admission that the lives of innocents mean nothing to the Washington elite, even as they paint their murderous interventions as some kind of “humanitarian liberation.” The slogan of the US foreign policy establishment really should be, “No Lives Matter.”

The Washington foreign policy elites – Republicans and Democrats – are deeply corrupt and act contrary to US national interests. They pretend that decades of indiscriminate bombing overseas are beneficial to the victims and keep us safer as well. That is how they are able, year after year, to convince Congress to hand over a trillion dollars – money taken directly and indirectly from average Americans. They use fear and lies for their own profit. And they call themselves patriots.

The Washington establishment lied to us because they did not want us to stop for a second and try to understand the motive for the 9/11 attacks. Police detectives are not apologists for killers when they try to look for a motive for the crime. But the Washington elite did not want us to think about why people might be motivated to suicide attack. That might endanger their 100-year gravy train.

What was the real message of 9/11 to Americans? Give up your freedoms for the false promise of security. It’s OK for the government to spy on all of us. It’s OK for the TSA to abuse us for the “privilege” of traveling in our own country. We must continue to bomb people overseas. Don’t worry it’s only temporary.

So, twenty years on what have we learned from 9/11? Absolutely nothing. And we all know what the philosopher George Santayana said about those incapable of learning from history. I desperately hope that somehow the United States will adopt a non-interventionist foreign policy, which would actually protect us from another attack. I truly wish Americans would demand that their leaders learn from history. The only way to make us safe is to end the reign of the Washington killing machine.

VIDEO: Owed to Winkin, Blinkin and Nod

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) delivered a blistering speech Tuesday in which she called for the impeachment of Vice-President Kamala Harris, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and POTUS Sleepy Joe Biden, over the debacle that was the American "exit" from Afghanistan. I call that trio "Winkin, Blinkin and Nod". I'll tell you why in a moment, but first listen to what Ms Boebert said.

Saying that Ms Harris and Mr Blinken should follow President Biteme "out the freakin' door" doesn't demonstrate Ms Boebert's grasp of the lost art of rhetoric, but many Americans will agree wholeheartedly with Ms Boebert's demand that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) call Congress back from recess to vote on impeachment and resignation resolutions.

"It is time for action," she said. "Impeach Biden, impeach Kamala Harris, and throw in the Secretary of State if you can get him back from vacation," refering to a WaPo timeline that revealed Blinken was hiding in the Hamptons the Friday before the collapse of the kleptocratic government of Afcrapistan.

Last week, Reps. Andy Harris (R-MD) and Ralph Norman (R-SC) introduced articles of impeachment last week against Blinken for his role in the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, which concluded Monday, just days after an Islamic terrorist attack outside Kabul airport killed nearly 80 people, including 13 American servicemen and women.

While all this was going on, what did the three "leaders" of the mightiest nation in the world do? Errr, nothing. I'm reminded of a poem written for children by Eugene Field (1850-1895), to whom I apologize for this little parody.

Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod one night
Sailed off to Afghanistan --
Off to a war they would not fight
For which they had no plan.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
 As they pondered what to do;
And the Taliban vict'ry, known all along,
Made them sore afraid, it's true.

All night long their eyes they raised
To the stars in the twinkling foam,
Hoping for some miracle -- Allah be praised!
That would bring all Americans home:

So shut your eyes while Biden sings
Of success he saw in his dreams
But you shall see the shameful things
When you wake to reality,
Of the Taliban owning the losers three --
Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod.

Afghanistan - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Taliban soldiers, in American uniforms, holding American assault rifles, pose in front of a "decommissioned" American helicopter at Kabul airport. Today. August 31st. Right on schedule. The helicopter looks pretty well trashed, but I expect Chinese or Pakistani technicians will be able to make it airworthy in jigtime.

The US military and State Department are now boasting that the Great Skedaddle  was a great success, since it cost less than a billion dollars in matériel left behind, and the lives of 13 American servicemen and women whose bodies were successfully repatriated on the weekend. Mission accomplished!

As for the 1000s of Americans left behind, The CIA (yes, really!) is already in talks with the Taliban to "procure" their release.  So everything's OK then!

But still... How could the nation with the biggest, mightiest, most advanced military in the world get run out of a shithole country by a ragtag gang of goat fuckers herders? There are a lot of questions to be answered. I imagine the Congress will begin an investigation, just as soon as they finish investigating the "insurrection" of January 6th. Stay tuned.

VIDEO: "A Dunkirk moment", "a Saigon moment" - Obama/Biden officials speak the truth about the Afghanistan debacle

Ed. here. We hope our readers won't think that the uncivility north of the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM) or the landfall of Hurricane Ida will make us forget about Sleepy Joe Biden's shameful cut-and-run from Afghanistan. He and his handlers certainly want you to forget, which is why we see the lickspittle media devoting lots of time to showing him "doing something" (what?) about Ida, and looking reverential as the bodies of 13 dead American troops were offloaded.

Please, people, don't forget who brought "the world's only superpower" to this. It was Old Joe, and whoever's pulling his strings. That's not just my opinion. In this short (just under two minutes) video, David Petraeus, Leon Panetta, Jeh Johnson, Stan Crocker and others who served under the Prez and his successor but one give their opinions on what happened in Afcrapistan and why it happened. Produced by the Republican National Committee and presented by Walt as a public service.

"Allahu akbar!" in Kabul: 12 US service personnel reported dead

Breaking news from Afcrapistan is that two separate suicides bombings around Kabul airport have left at some 40 dead -- including 11 United States Marines and a USN medic -- and scores wounded and injured. Is anyone surprised?

The bombings occurred outside the airport, where large crowds of people trying to flee Afghanistan have gathered as they await flights out of the country. Western nations had warned earlier in the day of a possible attack there in the waning days of a massive airlift.

Earlier today, several countries urged people to avoid the airport, with one saying there was a threat of a suicide bombing. But just days before the evacuation effort is scheduled to end, few appeared to heed the warning.

Over the last week, the airport has been the scene of some of the most searing images of the chaotic end of America's longest war and the Taliban's takeover, as flight after flight took off carrying those who fear a return to the militant Muslims' brutal rule.

Already, some countries, inclluding Canada, have ended their evacuations and begun to withdraw their soldiers and diplomats, signalling the beginning of the end of one of history's largest airlifts. The last Canadian Armed Forces flight out left just a few hours before the bombings.

Suspicion for any attack targeting the crowds would likely fall on a splinter Islamic State group called ISIS-K, not the Taliban, who have been deployed at the airport's gates trying to control the mass of people. The Taliban have so far honoured a pledge not to attack Western forces during the evacuation, but insist that foreign troops must be out by Sleepy Joe Biden's self-imposed deadline of this coming Tuesday.

This Mohammed here has been identified as the perpetrator of the "martyrdom operation".

He is now in Islamic Paradise, one presumes, being serviced by 72 virgins.

This debacle, 20 years in the making, is the fault of the total and ajbect failure or the foreign policies of the Paranoid States of America and its Western Allies. For two decades, the USA, under both Republican and Democratic presidents, has insisted that it had a responsibility to protect the poor people of not just Afghanistan but the entire Middle East, and that the best way to do that is to act as peacekeepers and "nation-builders". Ha!

I'll say once again that we set ourselves up to be referees in a Muslim civil war which was none of our business -- none whatever! This War for Nothing -- if I may coin a phrase -- has cost the Western nations 1000s of lives and billions of dollars. All for nothing. And now four more Americans are added to the casualty list. Will they be the last? Five days to go. Stay tuned.

VIDEO: Biden's Afghanistan disaster summed up in 90 seconds

Ed. here. Walt wasn't pleased that I posted a music video yesterday (even though it was pretty good music!) instead of some commentary on the total chaos that is the American "withdrawal" from Afghanistan. The only way for me to keep him away from the keyboard was to promise something more trenchant today.

There are times when pictures speak louder than words. Now is one of those times. Donald Trump's Save America PAC has produced one of the most devastating political videos you will ever see. It perfectly captures the sense of helplessness in the face of crisis that Americans are feeling right now. Watch

Babylon Bee reports AOC going to Afghanistan

Ed. here. Just saw this marvelous piece on Babylon Bee (your trusted source for Christian satire) and have to share it.

In fairness to the creative folks at the Bee, we won't repost the whole article -- you should click on the link to read it for yourself, but be sure you're sitting down -- but can't resist sharing just this one delicious paragraph.

AOC then picked up her top-secret squad phone. "Get the squad together," she said. "We have brown people to save!"

If Kamala Harris can bug out to Vietnam, why shouldn't AOC go to Afghanistan? Makes as much sense as anything else the Dumbocrats are doing to bring peace and prosperity to a world in crisis. We here at WWW are going to take the rest of the weekend off, just like Sleepy Joe.
