Your Singhs today (Canada Post edition)

More evidence emerges today of how Sikhs have taken over the Canadian polity. On Sunday, Canada Post, a perennial money-losing agency of the Liberal government of Canuckistan, unveiled a new commemorative stamp paying tribute to Sikh Canadian soldiers.

Speaking at the 18th annual Sikh Remembrance Day ceremony at Mount Hope Cemetery in Kitchener ON, Balraj Singh Dhillon, Canada Post's General Manager of Platform and Partnerships [and Canadians wonder why Canada Post loses so much money! Ed.] said the stamp honours the service and contributions of Sikh soldiers in the Canadian military dating back to WWI.

Inevitably, Sandeep Singh Brar, curator of Sikh Museum.com, played the racism card, telling the meeja that during WWI, only ten (count `em, 10) Sikhs were permitted to serve in the Canadian army. "Thousands of Sikhs at the time tried to join, but they were turned away. They were told that ‘Sorry fellas, this is a white man’s war."

Later on, however, 1000s of Sikhs were recruited into Canada's military and police forces, their only demand being that they be allowed to wear their turbans and holy underpants, and carry their kirpans. 

One Singh who rose to a position of prominence in the modern Canadian [sic] Armed Forces is Harjit Singh Sajjan, Lt-Col. Retd., a former police office who became the first of his kind to command a Canadian Army reserve regiment.

Inevitably (again), Mr Sajjan became a Liberal politician, riding into office on the Trudeau wave of 2015. He served as the MP for Vancouver South until 2025, when, sensing imminent defeat, he chose not seek re-election in the federal election. 

Immediately upon his election, Mr Sajjan was named Minister of National Defence, in which position he served himself until 2021. In 2017, he was forced to apologize for exaggerating his role in Operation Medusa, a 2006 military operation in Afghanistan in which he was involved. Four years later (!), he was censured by vote in the House of Commons for his claims about Operation Medusa, as well as his handling of the issue of sexual assault within the Canadian Armed Forces. 

Although he was no longer the defence minister, Mr Sajjan was still in the Trudeau cabinet and in a position to help his co-religionists. In 2024, he came under criticism for prioritizing the evacuation of Sikhs with no links to Canada during the 2021 fall of Kabul, as well as for requesting troops to appear as backdrop to a pop concert by a Punjabi singer.

For some reason, Mr Sajjan, who is believed to be still alive and living in Surrey BC, was unable to attend the ceremony in Kitchener. However, the Liberal Party line was stated with admirable brevity by Sandeep Singh Brar (see above) who said that the stamp is a strong representation of Canada's diverse population.

In Brampton ON and Surrey BC, diversity began when the first Sikh family moved in, and will end when the last non-Sikh family moves out... probably sometime in 2026.

OK, al-Zawahiri is dead... but al-Qaeda is not. What now?

President Brandon announced yesterday that al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed by an American drone strike which struck a "safe house" in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he was said to be hiding. The Taliban had promised, when they took over Afghanistan after the American bugged out, that the country would no longer be a haven for Islamic terrorists. But they lied, and everyone knew that.

Al-Zawahri and the better known Osama bin Laden plotted the 9/11 attacks that brought most of us in the West our first knowledge of al-Qaeda, the organization of Islamic extremists responsible for terrorism in the name of Allah which has killed many 1000s worldwide. Bin Laden was killed by US Navy Seals in Abbotabad, Pakistan on 2 May 2011, but al-Qaeda lived on, and lives on now. 

A good question to ask, then, is: what happens next? Let's not kid ourselves that the Islamic terrorism will stop. The execution of al-Zawahiri, just though it certainly was, may well have opened up the hornet's nest. Americans would do well to sleep with one eye open.

Biden's tough response to Afghanistan defeat: Kill some kids

In a futile attempt to appear something less than weak and incompetent in the aftermath of the killing of 13 Americans troops just before the tail-betwee-the-legs withdrawal of US forces at the end of August, "President" Biden promised those responsible for the dastardly attack in Kabul, "We will hunt you down. We will make you pay." Watch the video, from 0:51 to the end.

   

Of course Sleepy Joe didn't name those responsible, but most of us wanted to believe that he (or those who pull his strings) had in mind the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP - aka ISIS-K), named by AlJazeera as IS's affiliate in Afghanistan. Many of us, knowing Mr Biden's track record of saying much and delivering little, and knowing that US forces would be out of Afcrapistan in a matter of days, said, "Good luck!" 

Thus the Americans responsible for the debacle came immediately under the pressure of public opinion to Do Something, Fast. And so they did. We were told that although the US military was pulling out of the shithole, it still had "over-the-horizon" capability, meaning that it could blow up things animate and inanimate from the safety of a bunker in a neighbouring friendly country, such as... errr... 

On August 29th, the Pentagon announced that a drone strike, controlled from an undisclosed location, had succeeded in killing an ISIS-K militant loading his car with explosives in preparation for yet another attack on retreating Americans and their Afghan collaborators. The New York Times has extensive video coverage here. 

Sadly, the NYT videos are now he3adlines "Did a U.S. Drone Strike in Afghanistan Kill the Wrong Person?" The answer to their question is YES. Ten Afghan civilians, including seven children, died in the carnage shown in this picture. 

The drone strike sent a 20-pound Hellfire missile into the car of Zemari Ahmade, an aid worker. Military intelligence -- an oxymoron if ever there was one -- called the threat posed by the car "imminent", and defended the drone attack as a "righteous strike." 

Officials said the military believed the car was being packed with explosives for an attack. But footage obtained by the Times suggests Mr Ahmadi was actually loading the car with water containers for his home, where the water supply had been cut off. 

Mr Ahmadi was a 14-year employee of Nutrition & Education International, an American NGO that fights malnutrition. He helped start up soy factories, repair machinery, transport his colleagues and distribute food from his Corolla to displaced Afghans. 

The use of drones in counterterrorism operations has consistently been among the most controversial aspects of America's global war on terror, particularly due to their association with civilian casualties. 

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and General Mark Milley have yet to appear before any Congressional committee to defend their roles in the Middle East mess. But it doesn't appear that they have any plans to stop raining down fire and brimstone from over the horizon. 

After all, children have been used as suicide bombers before, right? So the Pentagon may have been right after all. Who ya gonna believe -- the US military or the New York Times?

Afghanistan - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Taliban soldiers, in American uniforms, holding American assault rifles, pose in front of a "decommissioned" American helicopter at Kabul airport. Today. August 31st. Right on schedule. The helicopter looks pretty well trashed, but I expect Chinese or Pakistani technicians will be able to make it airworthy in jigtime.

The US military and State Department are now boasting that the Great Skedaddle  was a great success, since it cost less than a billion dollars in matériel left behind, and the lives of 13 American servicemen and women whose bodies were successfully repatriated on the weekend. Mission accomplished!

 As for the 1000s of Americans left behind, The CIA (yes, really!) is already in talks with the Taliban to "procure" their release.  So everything's OK then!

But still... How could the nation with the biggest, mightiest, most advanced military in the world get run out of a shithole country by a ragtag gang of goat fuckers herders? There are a lot of questions to be answered. I imagine the Congress will begin an investigation, just as soon as they finish investigating the "insurrection" of January 6th. Stay tuned.

"Allahu akbar!" in Kabul: 12 US service personnel reported dead

Breaking news from Afcrapistan is that two separate suicides bombings around Kabul airport have left at some 40 dead -- including 11 United States Marines and a USN medic -- and scores wounded and injured. Is anyone surprised?

The bombings occurred outside the airport, where large crowds of people trying to flee Afghanistan have gathered as they await flights out of the country. Western nations had warned earlier in the day of a possible attack there in the waning days of a massive airlift.

Earlier today, several countries urged people to avoid the airport, with one saying there was a threat of a suicide bombing. But just days before the evacuation effort is scheduled to end, few appeared to heed the warning.

Over the last week, the airport has been the scene of some of the most searing images of the chaotic end of America's longest war and the Taliban's takeover, as flight after flight took off carrying those who fear a return to the militant Muslims' brutal rule.

Already, some countries, inclluding Canada, have ended their evacuations and begun to withdraw their soldiers and diplomats, signalling the beginning of the end of one of history's largest airlifts. The last Canadian Armed Forces flight out left just a few hours before the bombings.

Suspicion for any attack targeting the crowds would likely fall on a splinter Islamic State group called ISIS-K, not the Taliban, who have been deployed at the airport's gates trying to control the mass of people. The Taliban have so far honoured a pledge not to attack Western forces during the evacuation, but insist that foreign troops must be out by Sleepy Joe Biden's self-imposed deadline of this coming Tuesday.

This Mohammed here has been identified as the perpetrator of the "martyrdom operation". 

He is now in Islamic Paradise, one presumes, being serviced by 72 virgins.

This debacle, 20 years in the making, is the fault of the total and ajbect failure or the foreign policies of the Paranoid States of America and its Western Allies. For two decades, the USA, under both Republican and Democratic presidents, has insisted that it had a responsibility to protect the poor people of not just Afghanistan but the entire Middle East, and that the best way to do that is to act as peacekeepers and "nation-builders". Ha!

I'll say once again that we set ourselves up to be referees in a Muslim civil war which was none of our business -- none whatever! This War for Nothing -- if I may coin a phrase -- has cost the Western nations 1000s of lives and billions of dollars. All for nothing. And now four more Americans are added to the casualty list. Will they be the last? Five days to go. Stay tuned.

VIDEO UPDATE: Time to pull the plug on Sleepy Joe?

Most of our readers took "Report into the sanity of President Biden" (WWW 2/8/21) as satire, which is what was intended. However, in times like these, the line between fiction and truth is a dotted one. Here, only lightly edited, is a report by AP, via Breitbart News, of a suggestion made by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), who may have got the idea from Walt!

Sen. Scott weighed in this morning on the United States' disastrously-executed withdrawal from Afghanistan, raising the question of whether the time had arrived to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Joe Biden. He tweeted, "After the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: Is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office or has time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment?"  

The Florida Republican used the question to resurface recent criticism regarding the various crises facing the country and its president. "Inflation is raging. The debt ceiling expired & U.S. debt is headed to $45 TRILLION. Kabul is falling to the Taliban & encounters in the #BidenBorderCrisis just hit a 20 YEAR HIGH," he wrote. "Democrats control the House, Senate & @WhiteHouse. What in the world is Joe Biden doing?"

The world watched in horror Sunday as Taliban fighters took over Afghanistan’s presidential palace in Kabul, declaring itself the new leaders of the war-torn country. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Mohammad Naeem, Taliban spokesperson said the jihadist group was "ready to have a dialogue with all Afghan figures and will guarantee them the necessary protection. Today is a great day for the Afghan people and the mujahideen. They have witnessed the fruits of their efforts and their sacrifices for 20 years," he declared."Thanks to God, the war is over in the country."

As of Monday, approximately 6000 U.S. troops [up from 5000, as reported by Walt yesterday] will deploy to Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport and assist with evacuations. On Sunday, the U.S. evacuated all of its personnel from the embassy.

Here endeth the AP/Breitbart report. However, this just in! Politico.com reported at 1259 EDT that the United States has suspended all flights out of a key airport in Kabul and is working to "reestablish security" after crowds of people rushed the airfield in an attempt to flee Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover of its capital city. 

Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby told the meeja that American troops are "working alongside Turkish and other international troops to clear the area of people," but "do not know how long this will take. [Therefore], out of an abundance of caution, there are no flights coming or going — military or civilian — and this is because of large crowds that are still on the tarmac" on the southern side of the airfield, which saw a series of breaches overnight.

UPDATE ADDED 15/8/21 at 1250: AP reports from Washington DC that Sleepy Joe, having ordered 3000 American soldiers (on top of the initial 1000) to go to Afghanistan right sharpish to cover the retreat, has decided 4000 won't be enough, and is sending another 1000 today. Errr... isn't that how the US of A got mixed up in that shithole in the first place? We have to wonder how many of the 5000 (and counting) will come home again.

"Allahu akbar!" - Taliban and ISIS strike Armpitistan again

According to reports coming in on the Mojo wire, the Muslim civil war has entered the summer rerun season. As reported here, cries of "Allahu akbar!" were heard last weekend in Kabul and other places in Afghanistan. Scores were killed, scores more wounded as the Taliban and ISIS slaughtered Shia Muslims who were trying to register to vote in upcoming elections.

Today there's news -- possibly last week's bulletin copied and pasted -- of a bomb blast inside a mosque in the eastern Afghan city of Khost [If it had been a pilgrimage site it would have been called "Holy Khost". Ed.] which was being used as a voter registration center.  The provincial head of public health [sic] said  his department had counted 14 killed and 33 wounded... so far.

No-one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but both the Taliban and a local ISIS affiliate have targeted voting centres in the past. Like last week, when the massacre in Kabul accounted for 60 dead and at least 130 wounded. Undeterred, the alleged government of the shithole countryAfghanistan plans to hold elections -- the first since 2014 -- this coming October.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan, a vehicle carrying shopkeepers on their way to a market struck an IED (read: roadside bomb) in northern Faryab province, where both the Taliban and ISIS are active. Inspector Mohammed Mohammed of the local constabulary says seven businessmen had gone to Paradise, and another is in Allah's waiting room.

But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more. In the eastern province of Paktia, a car bomb killed two people and wounded another three. Abdullah Hsart, a spokesthingy for Mohammed Mohammed, the provincial governor, said the attack late Saturday targeted Hazart Mohammad Rodwal, a district chief, who was among the wounded. The Taliban responsibility for this one.

Walt has no further snide comments to make, but reminds readers that 1000s of American soldiers are still "in station" (as the Brits say), but only in training and advisory roads, not in harm's way... or so the Pentagon and the State Department would have you believe. Ha!

"Allahu akbar!" - Latest death toll from Armpitistan

For those keeping score, Islamic extremists knocked off nearly five dozen less extreme Muslims in attacks in Afghanistan over the weekend. Better there than here! Now the details.

Item 1: A co-ordinated double suicide bombing hit beautiful downtown Kabul this morning (local time), killing 25 people and wounding 45. Among the deceased were an AFP photographer and a cameraman for a local TV station, as well as four cops. The attack was the latest in a string of deadly large-scale bombings and assaults that have struck the capital and other cities in the shithole country this year.

The blasts took place in the central Shash Darak area, the site of NATO headquarters and a number of embassies. The American embassy condemned the "savage bombings" and pledged continuing support for the Afghan "government" and people in their fight against terrorism. "Let us know if there's anything we can do to help," it said, "short of sending more than a few thousand troops back into the quagmire. One Vietnam in a century is enough."

Inspector Hassan bin-Sober of the Afghan police said the first suicide bomber was on a motor bike. The second attacker was on foot, pretending to be a journalist and mingling with the crowd of reporters that had rushed to the scene of the first attack. He then detonated his explosives, sending the journos and himself to the Muslim Paradise. "I saw journalists covered with blood, this time they targeted the media," a taxi driver named Mohammed told surviving meeja types. "When the explosion happened, everywhere was covered with dust and fire, it was so horrific scene" with bodies and body parts "thrown about on the street and the pavement."

Item 2: A couple of hours later, a suicide car bombing in the southern province of Kandahar killed 11 children. An Afghan official who gave his name as Mohammed said a suicide bomber targeted a NATO convoy in the district of Daman, but succeeded only in killing children from a religious school located by the roadside from where the explosion occurred. 16 people, including 5 NATO soldiers [Any Americans? Ed.] and 2 cops, were wounded.

The US embassy and NATO refrained from pledging further support or from making any comment at all. Which group of jihadis was responsible for the dastardly attack remains unclear, as no-one has stepped forward to say "We did it! We killed a bunch of kids!" However, the local ISIS affiliate and the more firmly established Taliban carry out regular attacks around the country, with the Taliban usually targeting the government and security forces and ISIS targeting members of the country's the Shia minority, whom the affiliate perceives as apostates.

Walt says (for the second time in one post), better there than here. Rather than wasting billions of dollars and the lives of NATO troops trying to referee the Muslim civil war, let `em duke it out, as long as they do it in their own arena!

"Allahu akbar!" in Afghanistan - ISIS kills scores as Americans stand by

It's "EMISSION ACCOMPLISHED!" for the American-led coalition in Afghanistan, as that wretched, so-called country plans to hold democratic elections in October. Between now and then -- i.e. for the next six months -- Armpitistan's so-called security forces will continue to struggle to prevent attacks by the country's ISIS affiliate as well as the more firmly established Taliban. Both groups are for some reason opposed to democratic elections, and regularly launch attacks, with the Taliban usually targeting the government and security forces, and ISIS targeting the country's Shia minority.

Reports coming over the mojo wire say that an ISIS suicide bomber struck a voter registration centre in the Afghan capital, Kabul, this morning, killing at least 57 people (and counting). A spokesthingy for the Public Health Ministry said another 112 people were wounded in today's attack. The Kabul police chief, General Daud "Idi" Amin, said the suicide bomber targeted civilians who had gathered to receive national identification cards. In a statement carried by its Aamaq news service, ISIS said it had targeted Shia "apostates".

If you live in Afraghanistsan and value your life, the last thing you want to do is go and register to vote. Last week, three cops responsible for guarding voter registration centres in two Afghan provinces were killed by Islamic militants. Elsewhere in Afghanistan, at least five people were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Baghlan province. A spokesthingy for the provincial police chief said four other people were wounded in the blast.

That was just today... so far! Yesterday, in Balkh province, a district police chief died of his wounds after being shot during a gunbattle with insurgents. A spokesthingy for the provincial police chief said around a dozen insurgents were also killed in the battle, which is still underway. The "insurgents" are reportedly members of the Taliban, who routinely attack police stations and plant roadside bombs (IEDs) targetting anyone who happens to be using the roads.

In the headline, I said "Americans [are standing] stand by". And so they are. About 15,000 US troops are in Armpitistan even as we speak. But wait (I hear you say), didn't President 0 bring our boys (and girls) home in 2014? Errr, no. He started "drawing down" US forces in 2014 but, as with so many other things, never quite got the job done. When President Trump took over 15 months ago, some 10,000 Yankee imperialists remained in country. In "The Forever War", Newsweek reported in November that 15,000 US troops were still in Afghanistan. And the Washington Post said in January that more would likely be sent this spring.

The problem is [Wapo, again] that no-one seems quite sure what they're doing there! Sending in the Marines is one thing, deploying them effectively quite another. Marine Brig. Gen. Roger Turner's forces in Helmand province saw indirect enemy fire about 20 times over the last few months. None of them earned the Combat Action Ribbon, a culturally important award in the service that recognizes those "who have actively participated in ground or surface combat", including facing firefights and roadside bomb explosions.

Keeping 15,000 American boys (and girls) in that shithole country is costing American taxpayers millions of dollars every day. If they're not doing anything, why not bring them home? All of them! That's Walt's innocent question of the day. Ask it of your Congressman (or Congresswoman) next time you see him (or her). Let me know if you get a sensible answer.

Pope Francis denies link between Islam and terrorism

It appears to me that Pope Francis is either completely detached from reality, or is working on his Ph.D. in Diplomatic Hypocrisy. The website of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reported last week on a meeting at the Vatican between the Holy (?) Father and the organization's Secretary-General, Dr Yousef bin Ahmed Al Othaimeen. (If the mountain won't come to Mohammed...)

"Travellin' along, singin' a song, siiiide by siiiide!"

The Pope "appreciated" the OIC's position on several matters, the report says, including terrorism, which the OIC is shocked, shocked that the world blames on Islamic terrorists. The Pope doesn't believe that, and "stressed that there is no link between Islam and terrorism."

Right. Let's look at a couple of items from history... recent history.

Item: At the end of January, at least 95 people were killed and about 163 wounded after a powerful explosion rocked the city centre of Kabul, the capital of Armpitistan. Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman and devout Muslim, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Item: In the first week of this month, at least one person was killed and 22 others wounded in a suicide bombing in Kabul. Al Jazeera, who should know, said the Afghan capital has seen a spate of deadly attacks carried out by the Taliban and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS), terrorist groups which are not Jewish, not Christian, but... errr... the other "faith community".

These are facts, as reported by reliable sources and seen in horrifying videos which appear on your screens almost every week. Walt wonders if Pope Francis ever watches or reads the news. Or does he just believe what he hears from his advisors, like Cardinal Pietro Parolin, aka Peter the Roman, who stood by the Pope as he welcomed Dr Al Othaimeen, and participated in discussions of "cooperation and importance of dialogue between both sides and continuous contact." Just coincidence? I think not!

Walt explains why fighting Islamic terrorism in Afghanistan is wrong

"He's not heavy, he's my brother!" We don't know if there's any relationship between the injured man and the one carrying him, other than perhaps the brotherhood of faith in the so-called Religion of Peace. Both are Muslims. One is carrying the other away from the site of yesterday's suicide car bombing -- the vehicle was an ambulance, actually! -- in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, one of the world's shitholiest countries.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the dastardly attack, which has claimed the lives of 95 and counting, with another 158 injured. The majority of the dead in the attack are civilians, but there were casualties among the feckless Afghan security forces as well. The bombing is the deadliest insurgent attack in Armpitistan so far this year. But it's not the only one.

A week ago, six Taliban militants attacked the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, leaving 22 people dead, including 14 infidel foreigners. Some 150 guests fled the gun battle and consequent fire by shimmying down bedsheets from the upper floors. The US State Department said a number [What number? Ed.] of American citizens were killed and injured in the attack.

Four days later, another gang of Islamic terrorists -- members of ISIS this time -- stormed the eastern Afghanistan offices of Save the Children, killing four aid workers and triggering a standoff with police that lasted almost ten hours. ISIS was involved in at least ten fatal attacks in Afghanistan last year.

Since the USA and NATO formally ended their combat mission in the AME (Armpit of the Middle East), Afghan security forces have been battling to fight the Taliban on one side and ISIS on the other. And they've been losing. Every week the amount of territory controlled by the Islamists increases, and the writ of the so-called Afghan government barely runs in Kabul, let along in the countryside.

President Trump has a plan to fix that. He wants to send 1000s more American troops to Afghanistan and envisions shifting away from a "time-based" approach to one that more explicitly links US assistance to concrete results from the Afghan government. After a recent visit to Kabul, Nikki Haley, the American envoy to the Disunited Nations, said the policy was working and that peace talks between the government and the Taliban are closer than ever before.

With respect, Walt thinks the President's policy is wrong. Decades of American adventurism under both Republican and Democratic administrations have got us nowhere. The 2014 withdrawal gave some promise of an end to the waste of Western lives and money. Pouring more of both into the sands of the AME is not the right thing to do. What the President should do is withdraw all American forces -- all of them! -- and let the Muslims fight their civil war on their own soil. Let them duke it out, and may the most righteous be the last Islamist standing. And may he then use a scimitar to cut off his own head. Selah!

Your Islamic terrorists this weekend

Used to be an attack by suicide bombers or other Islamic terrorists (outside of the Middle East) was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Like 9/11. Then it got down to once in a decade. Then once a year, once a month, once a week, and now, apparently, once a day. The wusses that run our Western governments (other than President Trump) and spin the news in our lamestream media (other than Fox News and the Rebel Media) tell us we might as well get used to it, because that's the new reality.

Nothing can be done, they say, because we don't know why this is happening. Hell, we don't even know who these criminals are! They're just "terrorists", not necessarily Islamic extremists, you understand, not necessarily Arabs or North Africans... just "terrorists". And the attacks in which scores of innocent people -- not necessarily Christians, you understand -- perish aren't even attacks, really, let alone massacres. They're just "incidents".

Which brings us to reports which started coming in here just after Ed. posted Mark Steyn's commendable video on the dishonesty of post-terror commemorations. Even as Ariana Grande is warming up for her "Manchester strong" benefit concert, we have news of an incident... oops, make that TWO incidents... or maybe one incident in two phases... playing out in the middle of London, at the eponymous bridge (which is not falling down).

Early this evening, local time, the BBC's "security correspondent" (LOL) tweeted:

Well, that's his opinion. Inspector Knacker of the Yard isn't saying anything, because the crime (or terrorism) scene(s) are still active, and the motive for the attack(s) is "not known". I am not sure whether to use the singular or plural of "scene" and "attack" because there are reports of (a) a van plowing into several pedestrians on London Bridge itself and (b) a man/men attacking bystanders with guns/knives at London borough market, just south of the bridge.

A taxi driver told LBC radio, "A van came from London Bridge itself, went between the traffic light system and rammed it towards the steps. It knocked loads of people down. Then three men got out with long blades, 12 inches long and went randomly along Borough High Street stabbing people at random." A bit of redundancy in that statement but we get the picture.

Oops, wait... ... Make that three scenes/attacks! The Beeb is now reporting that police are responding to an "incident" in Vauxhall, in south London. And the peelers have confirmed that there's been at least one fatality in at least one of the attacks.

Well... While we wait for further news from Old Blighty, we turn to beautiful downtown Kabul, the capital of Armpitistan, where three -- count 'em, 3 -- bombs killed at least 12 mourners and wounded 90 more at a funeral for some of the 90 killed by a massive terrorist bombing earlier this week in the Afghan capital. Photos showed bodies and remains strewn on the ground as smoke filled the air.

The "chief executive" of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah (yes, that's his real name), was one of several politicians who survived the blasts as they gathered for the funeral of a senior Afghan senator. He said three suicide bombers had hidden in the crowds and detonated their vests at the start of prayers. And he called for an investigation into how the attackers were able to get so close to the high-profile funeral.

The office of President Ashraf Ghani said he condemned "the outrageous attack on mourners burying the martyred.... The country is under attack. We must be strong and united." Who is Afghanistan under attack from? Alas, the Prez did not say.

Note from Ed.: We regret that we only have so much space for news of "terror-related incidents". We hope the Islamists -- for that's what they are -- will hold off for a day or two to let us talk about other things.

UPDATED: Who's responsible for latest Afghanistan massacre?

Which group of Islamic terrorists is responsible for yesterday's massive suicide car bombing in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan? The body count so far is 90 dead, at least 400 wounded. That's more than four times the number of casualties in last week's ISIS-related Manchester massacre, but you won't be seeing much handwringing and crocodile tears from Western politicians or in the lamestream media, because hey, these are just towel-headed Muslims. Who cares? And that answers the question in today's headline.

It's worth noting, though, that this was one of the worst attacks Kabul had seen since the Prez (Obama -- how quickly we forget) declared victory in Afghanistan and started the drawdown of foreign forces from the country at the end of 2014. The bombing, which took place in what was supposed to be Kabul's safest neighbourhood, raises serious questions about the Afghan government's ability to secure the war-battered nation.

If the Afghans' democratically elected government (LOL) can't control their own country, must we go back in to pacify the Taliban and/or ISIS for them? There was talk of "re-engaging" even before yesterday's blast. Indeed, more than 8000 of US troops and "advisors" are still there, along with personnel from other NATO countries -- excluding Canada, of course -- but they are steadily losing ground. In fact, the Kabul government's writ runs only to the perimeter of the city, if that.

Last month, the Afghan Taliban announced the beginning of their spring offensive, promising to build their political base in the country while focusing military assaults on the international coalition and Afghan security forces. American and Afghan forces have been battling the Taliban insurgency for more than 15 years... and counting. If anyone has a persuasive argument as to why we should continue, please write it on the back of a postage stamp and send it to Walt at the usual address.

Muslims cause more trouble in Europe and Middle East

Walt has returned from a long and blissful weekend on an island far removed from the hurly-burly of politics, race riots and Islamic terrorism. (See? Unlike the Prez, I calls it by its name, as I sees it!) I cut myself off from TV and the Internet. It didn't really matter because I knew, even before it happened, what the news would be.

Donald Trump was officially chosen as the Republican candidate for the presidensity. The lamestream media found further "evidence" of his unsuitability in the speech given by his current other half, about 6% of which seems to have been lifted from a speech given by Mrs 0 eight years ago. So what. There's no copyright in ideas, and how many different ways can you say people should work hard, dare to dream, keep their promises -- did Mrs 0 really say that? -- yada yada yada. Big deal.

In Armpitistan this weekend, ISIS claimed responsibility for a "joint suicide bombing" Saturday that killed dozens of people during a peaceful demonstration by a minority group in Kabul. An Afghan freelance journalist told CNN, "I saw tens of people laying [sic] down in blood around me and hundreds of people running away from the scene." So far, 80 corpses and more than 260 wounded people were taken to hospitals in the Afghan capital, according to a spokesthingy for the Afghan Health Ministry. I'm not sure what a "joint suicide bombing" is. Maybe people should stay out of those joints!

And today in Iraq -- pronounced "Ee-rak", please, not "Eye-rak" -- terror struck the streets of Baghdad yet again after a suicide bombing killed at least 21 people in a residential neighbourhood. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on the predominantly Shiite neighborhood of Kadhimiya, which injured more than 35 others. The claim by ISIS was released by the terror group's media wing Amaq and on pro-ISIS social media accounts circulated by its supporters. The attack came just weeks after the deadliest terror attack in war-weary Baghdad in years, when a suicide truck bomb plowed into a busy shopping district killing almost 300, most of whom were co-religionists of the Islamic terrorists.

Muslim troubles continue in Germany too, where terrorists, either inspired by or working with ISIS, continued apparently random attacks. There was the massacre in Munich on Friday, the work of a "German-Iranian", whose motives were, according to the Polizei, "unclear". Then today a 21-year-old Syrian "refugee" was arrested after killing a pregnant woman with a machete. Inspector Katzenjammer said the homicide did not appear to be linked to any militant groups or designated terrorist entities. All the same, that's the second or third -- I've lost count -- killing by Muslims of Middle Eastern descent in the last week.

But, as Vince Offer used to say, wait... there's more.

Word has just reached us via the mojo wire that, in the southern German city of Ansbach, a man was killed when an explosive device he was believed to be carrying went off near an open-air music festival, injuring 10 others. Local police said that just after 10 PM local time on Sunday they were alerted to an explosion in the city centre. "A man — according to our current knowledge, the perpetrator — died" in the blast, they said in the short statement.

The German news agency DPA reported that the nearby open-air concert with some 2,500 in attendance was shut down as a precaution after the explosion. The Bavarian Interior Ministry (responsible for the police and the security of the Vaterland) told DPA that it appeared to possibly be a bombing attack, saying that there was evidence that there was a "deliberate explosion." That's good police work, boys!

So here we are again... or still.... Islamic terrorists keep killing people in Europe and the Middle East. Yet the lamestream media and the Democrats keep saying The Donald is a fascist and a madman for calling for controls on Muslims coming to America. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it? Speaking of which, the Democratic convention is set to start tomorrow in the City of Brotherly Love... well, about six miles from the city centre, actually. Expect a lot more nonsense between now and next weekend. Stay tuned.

Afghans mourn departure of Canadian soldiers

158 lives, $1.5 billion and 12 years after joining the American invasion of Afghanistan, the last of Canada’s military personnel -- recently disguised as "trainers" -- hauled down the flag in Kabul this morning. This afternoon they hauled ass out of the sandpit.

One of the reasons advanced by the government of "Call me Steve" Harper for Canada's involvement in a hopeless conflict was the protection and enhancement of the rights of Afghan women. An Afghan woman -- we presume* -- is seen here bidding farewell to the departing Canadian troops.

"Hey Joe," she says, "You want buy fancy underwear take home to girlfriend? Buy 3 pairs I throw in my daughter!" [Translation has not been checked for accuracy. Ed.]

The Canadian ambassador to Afghanistan told the departing troops, "Your strength has protected the weak; your bravery has brought hope to hopeless; and the helping hand you have extended to the Afghan people has given them faith that a better future is within their grasp." Canuck soldiers stifled snickers, for they (and everyone at home except Don Cherry) know the truth of the matter.

Heavy combat, roadside bombings and other incidents took the lives of 158 Canadian soldiers, one diplomat, one journalist and two civilian contractors. Many soldiers who returned home injured or profoundly changed by the experience are now struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, inadequate mental health care services, unemployment and other issues.

A number have committed suicide in recent months, including one whose grieving mother just received a cheque for one (1) cent -- 0.9 cents in real money -- severance pay from a grateful nation.

Security is deteriorating in many parts of the country, raising serious questions about Afghanistan’s future. Just this week, a European journalist was shot, execution-style, not far from the Canadian embassy. A Taliban group claimed responsibility for the killing. A spokesthingy said, "We didn't know he was a Swede. All these infidels look the same."

NATO combat forces -- chiefly American -- still in Afghanistan are scheduled to leave at the end of the year. However, member nations have promised $4.1 billion a year in funding for the country’s alleged security forces. The money will be spent on upgrading their uniforms, for instance by lining the pockets of their officers.

The departing Canadian commander was unable to turn out the lights, since the bulbs and copper wiring had been stolen.

* Hard to tell when someone's wearing a burqa! This just in... In "How the West made a hash of the Afghan war", CBCNews has a picture of this same woman (???) who is identified as a beggar. The article is worth reading!

Reality check: the war in Afghanistan is LOST!

Since the lamestream media concentrate on sports and entertainment on weekends, you may not have seen reports of the latest horrific attack on foreigners in Kabul, the capital of Armpitistan. Last Friday, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a restaurant filled with foreigners and affluent Afghans, while two gunmen stormed through the back door and opened fire.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned Friday's attack "in the strongest terms," in a statement given by spokesthingy Farhan Hack. [Ed., please check spelling.] "Four United Nations personnel, along with a number of those from other international organizations, are now confirmed dead," Haq said. "Such targeted attacks against civilians are completely unacceptable and are in flagrant breach of international humanitarian law. They must stop immediately," he added wistfully.

The suicide bombing can only be seen as yet another episode in the American war on Afghanistan -- the longest-running war in American history. True, the dead weren't members of the US military -- not in uniform, at least -- but to the Taliban, it doesn't matter whether you're in a uniform or a suit; if you have white skin and blue eyes you're an infidel invader.

The question is why we keep sending people to that godforsaken sandpit to get killed. Hasn't it dawned on the Prez or anyone in his administration that the war is over? Well, not officially over, but certainly lost!

Daniel L. Davis is a Lietenant Colonel in the US Army. He has deployed into combat zones four times in his career, being awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor in Desert Storm and Bronze Star in Afghanistan. Nearly two years ago, the New York Times reported on two papers he published after returning from his second combat deployment to Afghanistan, in which he questioned the wisdom of pouring more men and resources into a war that couldn't be won.

Nobody paid attention, except for the purpose of disputing Lt-Col. Davis's characterization of the conflict.

Only a year ago, the commander of all US and allied forced, General John R. Allen, told an audience, "This insurgency will be defeated over time by the legitimate and well-trained Afghan forces that are emerging today, who are taking the field in full force this spring. Afghan forces defending Afghan people and enabling the government of this country to serve its citizens. This is victory."

That quote comes from an article by Lt-Col. Davis posted this week on The Daily Beast. [Thanks to Agent 17 for sending it along. Ed.] Here's the concluding paragraph.

"We have asked tens of thousands of American men and women to sacrifice their lives and bodies to the war in Afghanistan, ostensibly in defense of American national security. Over the last number of years our most senior leaders have resolutely refused to admit what the evidence plainly confirms: our strategies and policies have failed. We must stop sacrificing the lives and limbs of America’s Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines to support 'messaging' at the expense of the truth."
