Say it ain't so, Buffy! CBC outs beloved Pretendian

2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation, was made over by Blackie McBlackface, the Gliberal Prime Minister of all Canuckistan, into the Year of the Indian. It was time for guilty whites to acknowledge that they (or their "colonial" ancestors) stole the Great White North from the peoples who used to be called Indians and Eskimos, forever hence to be known as First Nations;and Inuit, respectively.

Canada's shrinking populaation of whites tried to give the land back to the indigenous ones, but they said they'd rather have money (prefereably US dollars), thank you. So "land acknowledgment ceremonies" became the order of the day, a Confiteor to be repeated at the beginning of any public event and even on radio and TV programmes such as Hockey Night in Canada (the only show that anyone watches).

Six years later, the "truth and reconciliation" bullshit goes on and on. But today the CBC (Canada's state-owned broadcaster) is set to reveal the real truth -- not the same as the fake truth which it normally broadcasts -- about one First Nations person who has become an icon of wokeness not just in Canada but also the US of A.

Walt refers to Buffy Sainte-Marie, a musician known for decades of "Indigenous activism". CBC’s investigative show The Fifth Estate is scheduled to air tonight an episode titled "Making an Icon".

A description of the episode doesn't name Sainte-Marie but says an icon’s "claims to Indigenous ancestry are being called into question by family members" and that its investigation includes genealogical documentation and historical research.

In a statement yesterday, Ms Sainte-Marie said "I don’t know where I’m from or who my birth parents were, and I will never know. Which is why to be questioned in this way today is painful. To those who question my truth, I say with love, I know who I am."

The octogenarian also posted a video on social media addressing the upcoming episode, saying she has shared her story for 60 years. She called herself "a proud member of the Native community with deep roots in Canada.... But there are also many things I don’t know, which I’ve always been honest about. I don’t know where I’m from, who my birth parents are or how I ended up a misfit in a typical white Christian New England home."

Buffy Sainte-Marie became popular in the hippy-dippy `60s for her singing and songwriting, and used her fame to push the "Lo, the poor Indian" agenda at a time when it wasn't receiving much attention and indigenous women were still called "squaws". Her debut record, It’s My Way!, featured several notable songs, including "Universal Soldier", written about the individual responsibility for war.

Her appearance on Sesame Street began a symbiotic relationship with the PBS groomerfest which has lasted right up to last year.* Here's a stanza she wrote for her first appearance on the show in 1976.

I’m an Indian and I like sunshine
I’m an Indian and I like friends
And I am real and I can feel and I’d love to take your hand
Way heyo he-yo!
Way heyo he-yo!

*Source: "My time on 'Sesame Street' with Buffy Sainte-Marie", "American Masters" on PBS, 6/12/22.
Excerpt: Sainte-Marie is iconic. She embodies a combination of fierce activism in her quest to fight for Indigenous rights and dignity and a strong belief that everything and everyone can change and ripen. The lyrics in her songs teach us about the devastating history of colonization while encouraging us to stay hopeful. Her educator roots shine bright in everything she does.

What a shame she isn't really an Indian, or First Nations or whatever. Still, she's the first Pretendian to rise to such lofty heights, even earlier than Fauxcahontas, the Senator who (for the time being) represents the great (?) state of Massachusetts, which is where Ms Sainte-Marie was raised.

The Ant & The Grasshopper - Canadian version

A reader has passsed along an updated Canadian version of the Aesop fable.

Old Version:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house, and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

Modern Canadian Version:
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving. CBC, CTV and Global show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

The Globe and Mail does a feature story. Canada is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on CBC News with Adrienne Arsenault. along with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

People Against Poverty stage a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We Shall Overcome". Then Justin Trudeau has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper's sake. Chrystia Freeland condemns the ant and blames former Prime Minister Harper, Former Premiers Jason Kenney, Brad Wall and Cristy Clark and Conrad Black for the Grasshopper's' plight.

Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh explain in an interview with Rosemary Barton that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the Liberal/NDP coalition drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs, not consulting with First Nations, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes; his home is confiscated by the government's Green Czar, Stephen Guilbeault, and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his freeloading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow never to be seen again. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize and ramshackle the once prosperous and peaceful neighbourhood. The entire nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

Moral of the story: Be careful how you vote in the next election, because you are an ant! You may wish to pass this on to other ants, but don't bother sending it on to any grasshoppers because they wouldn't understand it anyway.

Note from Ed. to our American readers: You can easily adapt this cautionary tale to the American politico-economic situation. Just subsitute, for the Canuch lickspittle media named, CNN, NBC, CBS, etc. For Justin Trudeau and Stephen Harper, read Joe Biden and Donald Trump. And for Liberal/NDP coalition, read Democrats and Bernie Sanders. I should have posted this before the mid-terms, since some  American ants appear not to have got the message and are still voting for the grasshoppers.

Get woke, go broke! Ron MacLean cancelled!

Our National Sports (As Long As It's Hockey) Editor, Poor Len Canayen, has some excellent breaking news!

Canadian hockey fans are rejoicing today at the announcement by Sportsnet that they will see less of Ron MacLean next season. Hometown Hockey, the much-unloved show featuring the biggest woke3st pussy in sportscasting, has been cancelled!

For those who never saw the show, it was what marketers called a line extension of the popular "Coach's Corner" segment of Hockey Night in Canada, which featured MacLean as straight man to Don Cherry, the real star of the little between-periods show. For eight seasons, Hometown Hockey travelled to a different part of Canada each week. It originally aired on Sundays but was eventually moved to the graveyard of Monday night, where it died.

The official reason given for the cancellation is that the weekly production was "an expensive line on the corporate ledger" and became tough to justify in a time where the sports media industry is undergoing change and cuts. Yah, shure.

What really happened was that Canuck hockey-lovers were incensed by MacLean's betrayal of Don Cherry after he (Cherry) got busted by the PC police for calling out, just before Remembrance Day of 2019, "you people" who ought to be wearing poppies to honour those who gave their lives for freedom, but aren't doing so. Click here to see the video.

The snowflakes, SJW's and pro-immigration lobby dropped the shithammer, and the CBC (the propaganda arm of Canada's Liberal government) put pressure on Sportsnet to get rid of Cherry. Which they did. On Remembrance Day itself. See: "The Hockey Guy comments on Don Cherry's firing" (includes video), WWW 11/11/19

MacLean's grovelling apology -- "I should have caught that sooner" -- the following Saturday was enough to gag a maggot. But what followed in the 2 1/2 years since was even worse.

"Coach's Corner" was cancelled, of course, since it was impossible to find anyone (not even the perpetually over-refreshed Brian Burke), who could call BS when he saw it as could Don Cherry. Ron MacLean now hosts a between-periods panel, as well as the rest of the show, and devotes himself assiduously to promoting inclusivity, diversity, women's hockey, the contribution to the sport of those wonderful BIPOCs, etc etc.

HNIC is just as woke as all get out, and that same wokeness pervaded Hometown Hockey, where there were no real hockey guys like Kelly Hrudey or Kevin Bieksa to tell MacLean how full of politically correct shit he is.

So Hometown Hokey [misspelling intentional. Ed.] is gone. Get woke, go broke! But the malady lingers on. MacLean will still be a fixture on Saturday nights, at Hockey Night in Canada. He says a new contract has not been finalized but has been agreed to "in principal".

Yah, shure! Don't stay tuned.I predict that, as sponsors wake up to the fact that more and more viewers take a 15-minute beer-and-bathroom break during the intermissions, they'll start putting pressure on Sportsnet to "revamp" HNIC PDQ. As Sam Goldwyn said, "If you want to send a message, go to Western Union."

VIDEO: Europeans see through Justin Trudeau

A couple of days ago, the Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, by the Grace of Singh, Prime Minister of All Canuckistan, descended from the heavens [from an aging RCAF B767 actually. Ed.] to cast before the European parliament a few pearls anent the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In a particularly fulsome pastiche of pusillanimous platitudes, Mr Socks called on the Euroweenies to stand together, stay strong, and fight valiantly to preserve liberal democracy... just as he had done the previous month when he bravely stood up to the truckers and other harborers of "unacceptable views" who besieged the world's second-coldest capital in the Freedom Convoy.

The European Union Parliament comprises 705 elected members (MEPs) from the 27 EU member states. About 1/10th of them were on hand to hear M Trudeau congratulate himself. When he finished, a number of MEPs gave him what the Brits call a bollocking for violating the truckers' civil rights -- particularly freedom of speech -- when his Liberal government invoked the Emergencies Act for the first time in history.

The gist of their remarks is that, in giving police and other authorities extraordinary powers to disrupt the  peoples' protest, Prime Minister McBlackface behaved like a dictator. Here are some choice clips.

The CBC, Canada's state-owned broadcaster, had to report the story, since some of those video clips went viral in seconds, but they made sure to bury it "below the fold", as we say in the noozbiz. And they were careful to label the MEPs who dared to vilify Himself as far-right extremists, populists, and other pejoratives up to and including "neo-Nazi".

Croatian MEP Mislav Kolakušić described the Canuck PM as someone who "tramples" on fundamental human rights and freedoms. Canada once stood for civil rights, he said, but now seems more like a "dictatorship of the worst kind."

"Under your quasi-liberal boot in recent months," he went on, "we watched how you trample women with horses, how you block the bank accounts of single parents so that they can't even pay their children's education and medicine, that they can't pay utilities, mortgages for their homes."

The CBC devoted more space to demonizing Mr Kolakušić than to his speech. "He has aligned himself with anti-vaccine voices inside and outside of the assembly," said the propagandists. And can you imagine, "Kolakušić had accused French President Emmanuel Macron of 'murdering citizens' though vaccine mandates and...claimed 'tens of thousands of' Europeans had died from vaccine side effects during the pandemic." As if we should believe such claims are ridiculous!

German MEP Christine Anderson, speaking for the Identity and Democracy parliamentary group (see below) through her party Alternativ für Deutschland (AfD), accused M Trudeau of civil rights violations during the Freedom Convoy protest, saying, "you are a disgrace for any democracy!"

She minced no words, calling Mr Socks a dictator who treats citizens as "terrorists." Another AfD MEP, Bernhard Zimniok, accused Trudeau of "trampling on democratic rights" by cracking down on people for protesting "disproportionate" public health measures.

The CBC's "report" says Alternativ für Deutschland has been "described by the BBC as a far-right political party that employs rhetoric 'tinged with Nazi overtones'." Aha, there's the "neo-Nazi" smear, but it the BBC that said it, so it must be true!

But the CBC can't resist adding a bit more salt: "A German court ruled recently that the party is 'a suspected threat to democracy' after an administrative court in Cologne found that there are 'sufficient indications of anti-constitutional goals within the AfD.'" Sounds like M Trudeau's claim that the Freedom Convoy supporters were intent on overthrowing his government, doesn't it?

The CBC then makes sure we know what kind of evil populists the members of the ID (Identity and Democracy) group are. "With 63 members from 10 countries, it is the fifth-largest group in the assembly. Identity and Democracy is made up of domestic political parties opposed to the EU. They hold far-right positions on issues like immigration, EU membership and social welfare."

Convinced now? If not, just wait, there's more liberal labelling! "The ID group includes France's Rassemblement National party, which was founded by Jean-Marie Le Pen." How about that?!

I confess that until today I hadn't heard of the ID group. It seems there are more truly conservative, truly populist politicians in the European parliament than in that of Canada, or the American Congress. But just wait. The tide is turning. Mr Socks knows it. So does President Brandon. Stay tuned!

VIDEO: Ex-CBC staffer Tara Henley interviewed by Glenn Greenwald

One of Walt's first posts this year was "Journalist quits Canadian state broadcaster because it's too woke", 3/1/22. The journalist in question is Tara Henley, a white woman (yes, everyone has to have a race+gender label these days), who still describes herself as a progressive.

Ms Henley just couldn't take the "wokeness" of Canada's state broacaster any more, and quit at the end of the year. In this interview on Glenn Greenwald's "System Update" vlog, she talks about why she left and how the "progressive" wokesters completely dominate the lickspittle media.

Using the example of Dave Chappelle, Ms Henley calls attention to the way in which the ultra-liberal left thinks and talks about things, and the way normal people (like me and thee) think and talk about things. Have a listen.

Journalist quits Canadian state broadcaster because it's too woke

"To work at the CBC [Canadian Broadcasting Corporation] in the current climate is to embrace cognitive dissonance and to abandon journalistic integrity. It is to sign on, enthusiastically, to a radical political agenda that originated on Ivy League campuses in the United States and spread through American social media platforms that monetize outrage and stoke societal divisions.

"It is to pretend that the 'woke' worldview is near universal -- even if it is far from popular with those you know, and speak to, and interview, and read."

So says Tara Henley, a Toronto journalist who resigned today after over eight years with Canada's state-owned broadcaster.

Writing on the Substack platform, Ms Henley opened her piece on the Substack platform by revealing that she's been hearing more and more complaints about the house organ of Canada's governing Liberal Party.

"People want to know why, for example, non-binary Filipinos concerned about a lack of LGBT terms in Tagalog is an editorial priority for the CBC, when local issues of broad concern go unreported. Or why our pop culture radio show’s coverage of the Dave Chappelle Netflix special failed to include any of the legions of fans, or comics, that did not find it offensive. Or why, exactly, taxpayers should be funding articles that scold Canadians for using words such as 'brainstorm' and 'lame'.

"Everyone asks the same thing: What is going on at the CBC?"

Ms Henley goes on to answer her own question.

"To work at the CBC now is to accept the idea that race is the most significant thing about a person, and that some races are more relevant to the public conversation than others. It is, in my newsroom, to fill out racial profile forms for every guest you book; to actively book more people of some races and less of others. [Ahem. Less sugar, fewer people. Back to English class for you, young lady! Ed.]

Ms Henley suggests that the focus on racial issues is resulting in less scrutiny of other issues that affect large numbers of people, such as the housing crisis, lockdowns, vaccine mandates, accumulation of wealth by billionaires and power by bureaucrats, and the rising total of overdose deaths.

"It used to be that I was the one furthest to the left in any newsroom, occasionally causing strain in story meetings with my views on issues like the housing crisis. I am now easily the most conservative, frequently sparking tension by questioning identity politics. This happened in the span of about 18 months. My own politics did not change."

If working for a propaganda machine where newsreaders now must include not only vizmins but some who display their religious identity through their choice of headgear is too much for the not-quite-that-woke Tara Henley, Walt suggests she apply to CTV or Global, where things haven't gone quite that far... yet.

Further reading (added 4/1/22): Turns out Ms Henley landed softly at the new woke Globe & Mail, the Toronto elite paper that pretends to be Canada's national newspaper. Click here to read her reviews of six new books, including Bad News: How Woke Media Is Undermining Democracy, by Batya Ungar-Sargon (Encounter Books, 2021), which Ms Henley calls a must-read. I'll add that to my shopping list, but not from Amazon!

"Gypsy moth" to get new, politically correct name

Wendy Mesley retired a few days ago. [Who she? Ed.] Glad you asked. At one time Ms Mesley was a star in the News and Public Affairs section of the Canadian Broadcorping Castration, the state-owned broadcaster of Canuckistan.

When the Corpse chose a new anchor to replace the venerable Peter Mansbridge on the National newcast, she was passed over in favour of Liberal arse-licker Rosie O'Donnell. [Ed. Please check that. Might have been another Rosie.]

Ms Mesley was banished to the Siberia of Sunday morning TV, where she hosted The Weakly, a talk show about media, politics, and technology, until last June, when the show and Wendy got cancelled. Why? Because, in a staff meeting which included a couple of vizmins, she dared to utter the N-word.

She was not referring to POC (Persons of Colour), but to White Niggers of America, the title of the English translation of Nègres blancs d'Amérique, a 1968 book by pseudo-Marxist Québécois journalist Pierre Vallières, who was banging the drum for the separation of la Belle Province from the rest of Canada.

Context doesn't matter to the PC police at the CBC. Wendy Mesley said the N-word out loud. Nya-nya-na-na-na. So she was seen and heard no more.

In our "woke" society, the N-word is, apparently, the very worst word one can utter, a "racial slur" (as it's referred to now), even more shocking and offensive than George Carlin's "Seven words you can't say on TV", which nowadays are heard on TV all the time.

But there is another "racial slur" which is almost as bad, one that you will never hear on the CBC or NPR, or read in the Times or Wapo. It refers to a tribe of people, mostly from central Europe, who have been discriminated against -- not without reason -- for centuries, in both Euroope and North America. The PC word for those people is "Roma".

[Roma? Who they? Ed.] Glad you asked. They used to be called Gypsies. The singular is Gypsy. I can remember my mother warning me that if I wasn't careful about talking to strangers and wandering too far from home, the Gypsies would steal me. (At other times she said I wasn't her child, that Gypsies had left me on her doorstep!)

So... the second-worst racial slur  you can use nowadays is the G-word. Which brings us [at last! Ed.] to the subject of today's headline: Lymantria dispar (or L. dispar), heretofore known as the gypsy moth.

It is not the gypsy moths, actually, but their larvae -- caterpillars -- which are causing incredible damage to trees and other greenery in areas around the Great Lakes, as reported by Agent 2 who says the buggers aren't just harmful but icky.

Indeed, the gypsy moth and the lesser-known gypsy ants have bad names for their destructive eating habits. But the experts at the Entomological Society of America, which oversees the common names of bugs, thinks they don't deserve a common name which is also an "ethnic slur...that's been rejected by the Romani people a long time ago." So says society president Michelle S. Smith, adding that "nobody wants to be associated with a harmful invasive pest."

The society seems to have time and resources to spare, so is taking a hard look at some 2000 common insect names to remove those which are now deemed geographically inaccurate or "derogatory" (read: politically incorrect).

University of Illinois entomologist May Berenbaum, a past ESA president, said the moths likely got their name because as larvae they have hair with small air pockets that act like balloons allowing them to float for kilometres, wandering like the group of people they were named after. Another theory is that male adult moths have a tan colour that could be similar to Romani people.

The Entomological Society is now on the hunt for a new common name, a process that will take months. Ms Berenbaum, who has written about weirdly named plants and animals -- e.g. the "jewfish", now known as "goliath grouper" -- said that given the moths' destructiveness, she and other would have some ideas for a descriptive new name. But, she said, "You're not allowed to use obscenities, so that's out."

Footnote: The same woke reasoning explains why the meeja no longer calls the "Indian variant" of the Covid virus by that name. It's now the "Delta variant". Mustn't stigmatize anyone or anything, you know!

UPDATED: "Being Black in Canada" - S:21, E:50-something

The state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration (CBC) has had its hands full this month trying to figure out which victimized minority deserves pride of place.

Should it be the Alphabet People? After all, it is "Pride Month" with gay and trans flags flying from every public building, even so-called Catholic schools.

Should it be Canada's First Nations (indigenous people, formerly known as Indians and Eskimos). That was last week's news, following the discovery of a graveyard at the Kamloops Indian Residential School and the consequent scaping of the goats, featuring the pulling down of statues to Egerton Ryerson and Sir John Eh Macdonald.

Or how about Canada's Black (formerly negro/coloured/black) people, who are still suffering discrimination in the US of A but whose pain is deeply felt by all correct-thinking Canucks. The DIP (Diversity & Inclusion Propaganda) execs at the Corp had already given the question much thought, and for weeks now have been promoting their fantastic, exciting, diverse, inclusive, expanded website called

You can figure out the meaning of the logo for yourself. (Hint: which clenched fist is biggest?) The website is full of stories about the exploitation of Canada's BIPOCs, but mostly the B segment of that group. Everyone knows that it's the evil white racist Canadians who keep Black people from realizing their full potential. But here's a story that for some reason has yet to appear on the BBiC website.

"Juneteenth", the latest brainchild of the Biden-Harris maladministration, was a beautiful day in the soi-disant Greater Toronto Area. Warm but not hot. A few showers but no real rain. Great day for a birthday. And so it was that a couple of dozen members of Toronto's Caribbean-Canadian underclass [At least he didn't say "Jamaican-Canadian"! Ed.] gathered outside a "community housing" complex in northwest Toronto to celebrate a Black baby's first birthday. What follows is taken directly from the CBC's report.

A five-year-old girl remains in life-threatening condition following a shooting during an outdoor children's birthday party in the Rexdale neighbourhood of northwest Toronto on Saturday evening, police say. An 11-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man who were also shot remain in non-life-threatening condition in hospital, said Toronto police spokesperson Const. Ed Parks. Parks said a one-year-old boy [the birthday boy? Ed.] who was grazed by a bullet did not require treatment in hospital.

Police were called to an address on Tandridge Crescent just before 8 p.m. on Saturday following reports of a shooting at a children's birthday party. Investigators are looking for multiple suspects, according to Toronto police Duty Insp. Kelly Skinner.

Investigators are keeping details on a vehicle seen leaving the scene, as well as suspect descriptions, to themselves for the time being, said Toronto police Supt. Ron Taverner, speaking with reporters on Sunday. "We will be releasing that information soon, but right now we're not," he said.

Taverner said cameras in the area were recording Saturday night, but "that's all I'll say about that." He said police don't believe the children were deliberately targeted, but he couldn't say more about a possible motive. He stressed that "this is a horrific, horrific situation" but that investigators are on it.

Notice that nowhere in the report is mention made of the fact that all the victims, witnesses and bystanders were black. And the suspects? Well, let's not talk about that either. You wouldn't know any of this unless you saw the TV news reports in which a couple of baby mamas -- elaborately made up and coiffed -- were saying what a tragedy this is.

No baby papas in sight, except, perhaps, the one adult victim seen sitting up on the stretcher. If he wasn't black, then he had one hell of a tan. Police have appealed for the assistance of members of the community but so far nobody done seen nuffin'.

The extended weather forecast for the GTA is for a long hot summer. Everyone knows what that means. But hey, that's what it's like, Being Black in Canada.

UPDATE ADDED 21/6/21 - I know Agent 17, amongst others, will be interested in this update. The Toronto cops have so far failed to apprehend any of the usual suspects (descriptions still unavailable) who fled the scene of the birthday shooting.

However, they announced this afternoon that the man who was shot, Demar Cadogan of Toronto has been charged with: discharge firearm with intent, possess restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate, possess loaded regulated firearm, and possess firearm while prohibited.

The last one means he's already been before the courts for something or other, and -- can you believe it -- didn't take seriously the court's order to not have no guns no mo'.

Police have not described a motive for the shooting, but it is not believed that any of the children were specifically targeted. Well of course not. The likely target was Mr Cadogan, you fools! The kids just got in the way. If you ask Mr Cadogan nicely, without saying anything about his blackness, he might tell you who his assailants were. Or not.

UPDATED WITH VIDEO: CBC admits Canucks pushing back against their "woke" propaganda, shuts down Facebook commenting

Cazart! The state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration (CBC), the font of endless torrents of liberal (and Liberal) propaganda, admitted today that (1) they do pay attention to comments on the social media, (2) they know thousands of readers/listeners disagree with their constant and cloying "wokeness", and (3) their "journalists" ["stenographers", shurely. Ed.] are cracking under the strain.

In a remarkably self-serving "Editor's Note" published today, Editor Brodie Fenlon complains that some of his poor dears are suffering from stress and anxiety caused by "the vitriol and harassment many of them face on social media platforms and, increasingly, in the field."

He quotes one of his typists, André Picard, who calls "platforms like Twitter...a cesspool of hatred." Then he tells us that Catherine Tait, the president of CBC/Radio-Canada [who probably signs his paycheque. Ed.] "has also written about the increased abuse of journalists on social media, especially women and journalists of colour."

Could it be that some Canadians don't like being talked down to by Toronto-based hijab-wearing Muslims? Could be! But to Ms Tait, attacks on her diverse and inclusive propagandists are nothing less than a "threat...to free speech and democracy." That's pretty rich coming from the head of a media outlet which deliberately denigrates and "de-platforms" anyone to the right of Sleepy Joe Biden!

Am I being unfair to the Corp(se)? After all, by suppressing the criticism of folks like us, they're only trying to protect their sensitive, easily-triggered audience. So says Mr Fenlon, who says it's unaaceptable "for our audience members who try to engage with and discuss our journalism to encounter it on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, where they are almost guaranteed to be confronted by hate, racism and abuse." Horrors!

So what is the CBC going to do to promote social justice, inclusivity, diversity, yada yada yada on the social media? Answer: "beginning on Wednesday and for the next month, we will close comments on all news links and video posts to the Facebook pages belonging to the journalism division of the CBC (News, Current Affairs and Local)."

But why? Try to keep a straight face as you read this.... "As the conversation has degraded on these platforms, we find ourselves limiting what we post there. We know certain stories will draw out obnoxious and hateful comments. The truth is we spend a considerable amount of attention and resources attempting to moderate our Facebook posts. It takes a mental toll on our staff, who must wade into the muck in an effort to keep the conversation healthy for others."

Can you believe it? Facebook sets the standard by silencing Donald Trump, to protect those who still use it from the Donald's hateful thoughts. [He incites riots, you know. LOL. Ed.] So the anti-Trumpers at the CBC (that would be about 99.9% of them) are going to shut down Facebook, to protect readers from pro-Trumpers!

But fear not. In the interests of promoting social discourse, freedom of speech, yada yada, comments on the CBC News website will remain open, subject to "moderation" of course, for any articles that don't involve immigration, refugees, black crime, or the scandals and ineptitude of the Liberal government, which (by the way) funds the CBC to the tune of hunreds of millions of beaverbucks every year.

As I write this, readers were still being allowed to comment on Mr Fenlon's drivel. Here's what two readers had to say:

"Bob Evans" - "This is how dictatorships work. Speech is suppressed and the excuse given is they are 'protecting' people from harmful speech.

"Chantal LeBouthi" - "In 1934, it was illegal to criticize the German government. Even telling a joke about The government was considered treachery. People in Germany could not say or write whatever they wanted. Controlling what news appeared in newspapers, on the radio, and in newsreels. Textbooks are a good example of how propaganda and censorship worked together in the Nazi regime back in the 1930s I feeling we are going back to this and is extremely scary when is coming from so call democratic nations."

"Davide Richard" - "Perhaps if there was even a whiff of even handedness you may not anger taxpayers who pay for the cbc as much. Constantly presenting biased left wing favouring causes and opinionated news has a way of irritating us centrist thinkers."

"Jacques Untel" - "Maybe if the CBC was less 'woke', less intent on pushing the liberal agenda, you wouldn't be taking so much flak. The many Canadians who are fed up with your editorial stance, but can't comment directly on this website because of the heavy 'moderation', take their shot on Facebook."

Hm. Wish I'd said that! Here's my final comment.

UPDATED ADDED 16/6/21: Rebel News got their hands on some of CBC's internal e-mails showing how the "moderators" of the Comments section on their website. (Comments are not allowed if the subject of the story -- e.g. refugees and asylum-seekers -- is likely to attract anti-liberal feedback.) The "moderators" are now proven to have deleted "negative" comments on such subjects as Donald Trump, Wendy Mesley's use of the "N-word" and the January 6th Capitol "riots". Here's the video.

Top 5 American sources of fake news

Here's a meme that pretty much sums things up, taken from "CNN Introduces Segment Where They Rant About What Trump Would Have Tweeted If He Hadn't Gotten Kicked Off Of Twitter"

How about the rest of the world? In Canada, Germany and the Disunited Kingdom, the news sources you can distrust the most are those owned by the all-powerful state. They may pretend to operate at arm's length -- the CBC (Canadian Broadcorping Castration) is a so-called "independent crown corporation -- but they know who signs the paycheques.

Walt recommends (mostly for Americans): NTD News Today. And of course Breitbart... For Canadians and Americans: Blazing Cat Fur ... and keep reading WWW!

The truth is not out there. There truth is here!

Something else that made Walt laugh today

Further to the Jehovah's Witnesses video (scroll down), Walt was tickled pink and pleased as punch to see this notice on the Net today.

For those who aren't keeping up with the doings of the lickspittle leftie Media, HuffPost Canada is the poor country cousin of Huffington Post. BuzzFeed is the parent of both of them, and of other spawn of Meeja Satan.

And now they're closing the Canuckistan operation and laying off 23 workers as part of a broad "restructuring plan" for the company. Translation: Last year's bailout by Verizon isn't working out as hoped, because now that the fake election is over, even the veriest anti-Trumpers at the CBC have stopped reading HPC's leftist drivel.

Speaking of "the verieset anti-Trumpers at the CBC", Walt sends his condolences [not! Ed.] to the high-foreheaded Althea Raj, who presumably will be among those looking for another gig. But she will probably continue to push the liberal agenda on "At Issue", which will never be cancelled as long as Canada's Liberals (and their "Conservative" alter-egos) are in power. So that's all right then.

Apology from Ed.: Yeah, I know the screen grab is blurry. I'm still a bit behind the curve on all this graphics stuff. Anyway, you don't need glasses. Fault is mine.

A fond look back at Fred C. Dobbs, scourge of the lamestream media

I'm still hot under the collar about the sorry state of the lamestream media in North America. See "Anus horribilis 2020: Noted in passing (media)", posted yesterday. The truth isn't out there. It's here, in the blogosphere.

Liberal group-think dominates the lamestream media of the Excited States of America, and Canada is just as bad -- worse, now, with the passing of Christie Blatchford and Allan Fotheringham.

And there are those who say that, even at his best, Dr Foth was not really anti-establishment, but more of a court jester poking fun at the Powers That Be, from inside the charmed circle of the liberal elite.

His jibes were indeed tepid, compared with the vitriolic savagery of my favourite Canuck political commentator, Fred C. Dobbs, the Bard of Beamsville. Ole Freddy was the alter ego of the late Michael Magee, a part-time radio and TV personality and full-time fan of the sport of kings, based in Beamsville ON. And yes, there is such a place. You can look it up.

While we were writing yesterday's piece, Ed. looked through one of Fred's two published works, The Platinum Age of B.S. (Van Nostrand Reinhold 1981) and found some comments on the Canuck controlled media which are even more to the point now than they were 40 years ago.

It's a funny thing in this country, but nobody really wants to talk, nobody wants to get out there and tear strips off the government anymore. Everybody wants to suck up...everybody's just cowed into keeping their yaps shut....

In Canada, I think if we had a Watergate situation the fix would be in with the Toronto Star, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Maclean's magazine. These is the big three media knee-jerkers in the English language in this country.

[They] would really not want the great, wonderful, golden image of the Liberal Party of Canada to be tarnished in any conceivable way. Because, after all, this image is as great, as bright and aas shiny as any kinda galaxy could ever be if it come along and upstaged the eclipse of the sun. I mean, the arrival of the Liberals for these poor bastards is like the Second Coming.

There's a climate of fear among broadcasters, there's a real fear of the CRTC [the Canadian equivalent of the FCC], that muddling, meddling government quasi-regulatory body that they see as a group of people really interfering with their right to do what it is they want to do. And it's kind of a valid argument against government interference in our lives; there's far too much of it.

This is what the Trudeau government gang really do stand for, cuz they passionately believe that unless they run, organize, regulate and produce everything that goes on, it ain't going to be up to some peculiar standards they imagine exists.

The Platinum Age of B.S. was the sequel to The Golden Age of B.S. (Gage, 1976), both long out of print. If you're a Canadian and want to see what Dr Foth called "the Natural Governing Party" get the disrespect it richly deserves, try to get your hands on Fred's books. Try your local library, but don't be surprised if they don't have them. As for his radio and TV broadcasts, those tapes have been erased, wiped clean. Wonder why....

If you're American and wonder what relevance this has to you, just reread that passage. Where Fred says "Liberals", substitute "Democrats". For Toronto Star, CBC and Maclean's magazine, substitute, New York Times/Wapo, CNN and Time magazine. They're all the same! Ask yourself, now that Dr Hunter S. Thompson and George Carlin are no longer with us, is there anyone left who's willing to stand up and say the liberal elites are full of BS?... Anyone?...

Footnote: The "Trudeau" to whom Fred refers is not Blackie McBlackface, the current Prime Minister of Canuckistan, but his father, Pierre, who began the destruction of Canada way back in 1968 and was still in power when Freddie was writing. That in itself tells you all you need to know about the Canaadian sheeple.

Anus horribilis 2020: Walt's Newsmaker of the Year

Ed. here. 2020 is almost over, thank God, truly an Annus Horribilis if ever there was one. (I know my Latin but Walt insists on leaving the headline as he wrote it.) Sorry for the interruption yestereday evening. We return now to our yearend review, to present the coveted Wally Award to the Newsmaker of the Year. May I have the envelope please? ... And the winner is...

Well who did you expect? Sleepy Joe Biden, the all-but-invisible "President-elect"? Do an analysis of the amount of time and space given by the meeja to the contestants in the fraudulent election for the Presidensity between Hallowe'en and Christmas, and you'll see that Still-President Donald J. Trump is the winner, leaving Old Joe waaaay up the track.

The lamestream media has been preoccupied with The Donald for at least five years. First there was speculation over whether or not he would throw his hat in the ring. Then there was the great debate over whether to take his campaign for the Republican nomination seriously. Should they put it in the political news or the entertainment news. Still news, right?

Then Mr Trump was nominated, and the controlled media had to start taking him seriously... although not respectfully. The minute his candidacy for othe Highest Office in the Land became official, the anti-Trump campaign began. Suddenly America's media were filled with rumours, speculation, disinformation and outright lies. (Hello, Russian conspiracy!)

But the media storm of scorn didn't matter. In an election which was a model of fairness and honesty compared with V.2020, the American people chose as their leader a man after their own collective heart.

If you search YouTube, you can still find dozens of videos of the astonishment and humiliation of all those "exports", "analysts", pollsters and other pundits -- not forgetting "celebrities" -- who had to eat generous helpings of crow, live and on the air, when it became apparent that the horrible, politically incorrect "Orange Man" was going to become the 45th President of the United States. But that was only the beginning!

The sun hadn't even risen (out here at least) on The Morning After, when the "Resistance" began. How many times have you seen this iconic photo, or read the slogan "Not my president!" since then?

The anti-Trumpers went... and remain... stark staring bonkers in their refusal to accept the fact that Donald Trump won the 2016 election, became President... and still is President.

Our own Agent 17 offered to bet that President Trump wouldn't finish his term. And the Swamp -- the Democrats and the Washington establishment -- did their damndest to make it so. Remember the impeachment farce?

That didn't work either, so here we are, with just over three weeks of the Trump presidency remaining, and the same fake news media -- for that's what they are -- less concerned with predicting the shape and direction of a Biden administration than with guessing how President Trump might contrive to remain in office.

Will Old Joe's inauguration be forestalled by another appeal to SCOTUS? A declaration of martial law? A military coup? Or some kind of divine intervention? (Remember what happened to Pope John Paul I!) Check the fake news outlets -- CNN, MSNBC, Fox, CBS, ABC, CBC, any of them! -- today and see if that's not what they're talking about. That, dear reader, is why Still-President Donald J. Trump is Walt's Newsmaker of the Year!

VIDEO: 2020 election: "The people have spoken" (Sky TV Oz)

It's now Wednesday night in the Land of Oz. Chris Kenny, reporting on Sky News Australia, says the American people have spoken. And they've decided to side with Still-President Donald Trump.

Walt is holding his breath, hoping that the Aussie media have it right. Fingers crossed!

Footnote: As of dawn today, Mr Biden has 50% of the popular vote, thanks to huge leads on the Left Coast, and Mr Trump has 48.4%. If Mr Trump wins anyway, cue cries of, "It's Trump who stole the election. Biden won the popular vote so he should be President! The whole system is systemically racist yada yada yada..."

Further reading from outside America: "Whatever the final result, Democrats lost the 2020 U.S. election", by Konrad Yakabuski (no conservative, he), in the Globe and Mail, 4/11/20. Quotes: "Had fate, in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic, not intervened, Mr. Trump would likely have been handily re-elected on Tuesday."

"That so many Americans were willing to cast a ballot for Mr. Trump in spite of his egregious handling of the pandemic and his moral corruptness says something about the disconnectedness of Democratic elites. By pushing their party ever further to the left, and embracing identity politics, they alienated millions of moderate voters." And there's more....

VIDEO: Rex Murphy tells why he won't be silenced by the cancel culture

Ed. here. I've told Walt that I am coming to grips with the new Blogger GUI and that, for the time being, we can still use the "legacy interface". I've also passed along messages from a number of readers [How many? Walt] saying they will be disappointed if we give up now, so close to what may be a pivotal moment in American (and therefore world) history.

Walt has suggested that we put up some videos until he feels like writing again. Fortunately, the premiere episode of Season Two of the True North Speaker Series went live yesterday. In this hour-and-a-quarter video, TN founder Candice Malcolm sits down with the legendary Rex Murphy, whose videos and writings have been featured on WWW several times over the years.

Mr Murphy can be counted on to provide a much needed dose of common sense in a world where good sense is anything but common. In this exclusive interview, he discusses with Ms Malcolm a wide range of issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, the changes in the media landscape over the past several decades and the totalitarian impulses on the left. This is primarily for Canadians, but our American friends should find it even more relevant.

Walt here. This interview has been a great inspiration to me. If Rex Murphy won't be silenced, neither will I!

Canadian joke of the year [CBC please copy]

The "year-end round-up" season is almost upon us, so I thought I'd beat the Canadian controlled media (Hello CBC!) by declaring Justin Trudeau the Canadian joke ["newsmaker", shurely! Ed.] of the year. The joke is on the stupid Canucks who voted this oleaginous, metrosexual, narcissistic fraud into office for the second time. Are you frostbacks masochists or what?

Dear Canadian readers, I wish you a wonderful winter solstice and a politically correct new year. And may your border remain open to the flood of refugees, asylum-seekers, and dispirited never-Trumpers who will be coming your way in 2020.

Footnote: What you're just read is something you won't read or hear or see anywhere on the CBC, the state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration. The CBC is publicly funded, which means that the taxpayers of Canuckistan are paying for the steady stream of politically correct, leftie drivel than emanates from studios high above the common people of downtown Toronto.

I refer in particular to The National, the CBC's nocturnal emission which passes off propaganda as a newcast. This is not just my opinion, but that of the Financial Post's William Watson. Check out "CBC's The National brings Canadians all the news that's woke", published today. Subhead: "There are four essential components to The National: something climate, something anti-Trump, something Lefty-heroic and something Indigenous".

The alternatives -- the national newscasts of CTV and Global -- are still part of the Canada's lamestream media, but better than the Canuck version of the Clinton News Network. Adjust your watching accordingly. You're welcome.

VIDEO: The Hockey Guy comments on Don Cherry's firing

SportsNet fired Don Cherry today. On Remembrance Day. Because he was politically incorrect enough to call out people who ought to be wearing poppies to honour those who gave their lives for freedom, but aren't doing so. See "Don Cherry calls out people who won't wear a poppy", WWW 10/11/19.

What happened is simple to explain. All the lefties, SJWs, refugee-huggers and other "right-thinking people" blitzed the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, Hockey Night in Canada, SportsNet (which owns and produces HNIC), and the Canadian Broadcorping Castration (which airs it), and Rogers (the cable monsters who own SportsNet) to complain about Donless attacking immigrants, when he never entered that word or anything like it. What he said was "You people...", and of course that means he's a white nationalist, racist bigot, yada yada yada.

Predictably, everyone caved, including Don's "Coach's Corner" second banana, Ron MacLean, who made a fulsome, gag-inducing on-air apology. SportsNet said its arrangement with Mr Cherry was terminated effective immediately, then thanked him for his decades of service. Blech. The makers of Budweiser (the alleged beer), who sponsored the segment said they respected SportsNet's decision.

So it's farewell then, Donald S. Cherry, Canadian icon. Poor Len Canayen, who knows well Mr Cherry's dislike of the Montréal Canadiens, says he will miss you. So will hundreds of thousands of Canucks, including The Hockey Guy. Here's his take on the whole sad affair.

VIDEO: Justin Trudeau channels Mr Dressup

Who was "Mr Dressup"? Most Canucks who were kids in the 70s and 80s will remember the TV show of that name, which ran on the Canadian Broadcorping Castration from 1967 to 1996. The show was developed and produced by Daniel McCarthy, who later became the head of children's programming for CBC Television. It starred Ernie Coombs as the eponymous character.

Mr Dressup would lead children through a series of songs, stories, arts, crafts and imagination games, with the help of his puppet friends Casey and Finnegan, a child and a dog who lived in a tree house in Mr Dressup's backyard. Some critics likened the series to the American series, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. In fact, that show started being broadcast on PBS a year later, in 1968. And it was produced by Ernie Coombs' old professional associate, Fred Rogers. So you have to give Canucks the credit [or blame. Ed.] for the genre.

But I digress. Part of Mr Dressup's shtick was to dress up (geddit?) in different costumes, according to the theme of the episode. Those who thought that was entertaining and clever mourned the loss of Mr Dressup, but were pleasantly surprised (apparently) when the character was reborn in 2013 as Just In Trudeau, who went on to become Prime Minister of Canada.

"Mr Socks" became famous ["infamous", shurely. Ed.] last year for dressing up as an Indian (not native American -- the other kind) to impress the folks in Mumbai when he went there to recruit more immigrants and potential Liberal voters. During the recent federal election campaign, whistleblowers leaked photos of M Trudeau wearing brownface and blackface at costume parties and, errr, other events. It is said he put a banana in his pants as part of his blackface get-up.

So it would seem that being a latterday Mr Dressup is all part of Mr Socks' plan for winning the hearts and minds of not just Canadians but but also whatever audience he happens to be addressing. A clever Canuck cartoonist who posts on YouTube as "Mountain Bear" has captured the essence of Just In and his charisma in this short but pithy video. Enjoy!

VIDEO: "Mad Max" Bernier says he doesn't mind his nickname

Agent 3, who pays attention to the politics of Canuckistan, has just e-mailed me to say that at this very moment, Justin "Mr Socks" Trudeau has emerged from his little tête-à-tête with the Governor-General, holding in his hand the writ which officially begins the federal election. Polling day will be October 21st, and the campaign is expected to be nasty, perhaps even approaching the nastiness level of an American campaign. [Impossible! Ed.]

The Leaders' Debate Commission, the creature of the Liberal government and dominated by the (((controlled media))) -- especially the state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration -- have conspired to keep Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, off the platform for the main debates scheduled for October 7th and 10th. See "Canada's 'independent' Debate Commission shuts out Max Bernier", WWW 12/8/19.

This interview was recorded in early July in Alberta. At that time, M Bernier assumed that he would be included in the leaders' debates, so he speaks about being confident that once Canadians here what he has to say and what the PPC stands for, many will support them. And why not. Every poll done in the last year shows that the majority of Canucks are in favour of reducing immigration levels, a major plank in the PPC platform.

Now the lefties -- all the other parties are to the left of the PPC -- have dropped a cone of silence over Max, so, in the interest of fairness, Walt is reposting Mad Max's interview with Community TV, Medicine Hat's web-based broadcaster. I know M Bernier will not mind my calling him "Mad Max". Listen to his answer to the very first question. And hear what he says about Just In Trudeau, at the 56 second mark. LOL
