First ever Wally Award for Egregious Hypocrisy goes to...

Earlier today I complained... OK, I remarked... that things had been quiet on the political front. Too quiet! Although this November's mid-term elections could be the most important in decades, the Excited States of America seems to be slouching towards the voting polls.

There was, however, one story which made the lamestream press sit up and take notice, because it cut too close to the bone to suit the propagandists for President Brandon's Dumbocrats. They've been trying hard to toe the party line that there is no crisis at the southern border. Sure, a few [thousand] "folks" are entering the USA without proper immigrant status. It's OK (they say) because America needs immigrants. And they will be welcome in the "sanctuary cities" where liberal, right-thinking Americans -- unlike those racist Republicans -- will be glad to look after them.

This week, Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R) put that claim to the test by shipping 50 (count `em, 50) illegals to the very Democratic island of Martha's Vineyard, the playground of the rich and famous, notably former President Barack Hussein Obama II. The residents were not amused, nor were they compassionate.

The undocumented migrants (to use the PC term) were shipped by bus and ferry to Cape Cod last Friday morning. It should have been easy to find places to put them up. According to the National Association of Realtors, about 55.5% of the homes on Martha's Vineyard are vacation homes, mostly vacant now that summer's over.

According to the New York Post, one local resident even urged former President Barack Obama to offer up his $12 million Vineyard vacation manse for shelter. The Post didn't say if the resident had  his tongue in his cheek when he said that.

Apparently none of the vacation homeowners were willing to step up to the plate. Instead, they labelled the arrival of the unexpected visitorsus a "humanitarian crisis", providing care and shelter for them for two (count `em, 2) nights before putting them on a ferry back to the mainland, where they will now be looked after by... wait for it.... the Massachusetts National Guard.

They were transferred to Joint Base Cape Cod, a former Air Force base known locally as Otis Air Base. Plans call for Governor Charlie Baker (D) to "activate up to 125 members of the Massachusetts National Guard as part of this relief effort." According to a statement from the governor, "The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is coordinating efforts among state and local officials to ensure access to food, shelter and essential services for these men, women and children."

Walt is pleased indeed to award the residents of Dukes Country, which encompasses all six municipalities on Martha's Vineyard, our first ever Wally Award for Egregious Hypocrisy. Other "sanctuary cities" will surely follow your precedent as they plan their own compassionate response to the humanitarian crisis caused by [We regret that limitations of space do not allow us to publish the end of this sentence. VIDEO: Canuck PM promotes "truth and reconciliation"... on holiday!

A couple of years before Canada's sesquicentennial [Look it up. Ed.], the Liberal government of Blackie McBlackface "woke" to the narrative that white Canadians had been beastly to the First Nations -- the Peoples Formerly Known as Indians & Eskimos -- ever since "First Contact". "We" must do something, they told the other Canadian sheeple, to make amends for hundreds of years of racism and genocide!

Just before M Trudeau got elected in October of 2015, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission set up by the previous racist government of Steven Harpoon released an executive summary of its findings along with 94 "calls to action" regarding reconciliation Indigenous peoples and "old stock Canadians". Mr Socks promised to take all this very seriously and swore that this time, Something Would Be Done.

That December, he TRC concluded its work with the publication of a multi-volume final report that concluded that Canada's system of "Indian residential schools", in particular, amounted to cultural genocide. Not much notice was taken until this spring, when the remains of 215 children were uncovered in unmarked burial sites on the site of the Kamloops (BC) Indian Residential School. The SJWs and woke media leapt concluded that the residential schools were guilty of not just "cultural genocide" but physical genocide!

With the prospect of another election looming, Canada's chief virtue-signaller sprang into action, ordering the maple leaf flags flown on all government buildings to be lowered to half-staff**. Every woke organization, whether in the public or private sector followed suit, so today you rarely see a Canadian flag flying from the top of the pole. And now that the election is over, M Trudeau says the flags will remain lowered until the Indigenous leaders say it's OK to raise them again.

But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more! Just before calling the election held just finished, Emperor Trudeau II decreed that September 30th would henceforth be a holiday -- National Truth and Reconciliation Day -- to be observed by the federal government and all its agencies (like Canada Post and the CBC) and all federally-regulated organizations, including many large private-sector institutions, such as banks.

Canadians were ordered not to treat the day as a time to relax and enjoy some time off, but as an occasion for remembrance, reflection and (of course) repentance for all the wrongs done to Indigenous peoples over the years. Such as paved roads, electric power, literacy -- the list goes on. Ceremonies, including the now-obligatory land acknowledgment ceremony, were held at city halls, residential school sites and other appropriate places across the land.

Progressive politicians of all stripes performed the ritual grovel, looking solemn and promising to do more for the First Nations. That was understood by all to mean even bigger cash handouts, since it is well known that nothing assuages hurt feelings better than "reparations".

Somewhere around mid-day yesterday, Global TV noticed that M Trudeau had not been seen since his appearance at a ceremony in Ottawa the previous night. Where was he? His daily itinerary initially stated he was in "private meetings" in Ottawa, but was later updated to note he was actually in, errr, the resort town of Tofino BC, "spending time with family for a few days."

Not to worry though, a spokesthingy told CBC News (which ran the story, with comments closed, only this morning). "Following his participation in last night's ceremony marking the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, he is speaking today with residential school survivors from across the country." Speaking. On the phone. Not face to face.

Lynne Groulx, CEO of the Native Women's Association of Canada, told CBC News that it was "quite upsetting" that the prime minister would travel on this specific day. "This is a government that has said Indigenous people are [the] most important priority for the government and that action … does not match the words," she said. "So that's very inappropriate, in my view, for the prime minister." Trudeau, she said, should be "the one who is leading this reconciliation process."

Walt is reminded of one of the funniest bits ever done on Seinfeld. In these scenes, Jerry -- no racist he! -- tries to convince Elaine's Native American friend that he really doesn't recognize any difference between Native Americans and other Americans.

M Trudeau used to be a drama teacher, or so his rather thin résumé said when he first ran for election. Wonder if he coached Jerry for this performance.

** FOOTNOTE: You will often see and hear "journalists" refer to the lowering of flags to half the height of the pole as "lowering them to half-mast". That term is only correct when the "pole" is the mast of a ship. When it's a flagpole on land or a building, the correct term is "half-staff". And while we're at it, the correct protocol for this action is to raise the flag to the top of the staff first, then lower it to half-way down.

VIDEO: Rex Murphy tells why he won't be silenced by the cancel culture

Ed. here. I've told Walt that I am coming to grips with the new Blogger GUI and that, for the time being, we can still use the "legacy interface". I've also passed along messages from a number of readers [How many? Walt] saying they will be disappointed if we give up now, so close to what may be a pivotal moment in American (and therefore world) history.

Walt has suggested that we put up some videos until he feels like writing again. Fortunately, the premiere episode of Season Two of the True North Speaker Series went live yesterday. In this hour-and-a-quarter video, TN founder Candice Malcolm sits down with the legendary Rex Murphy, whose videos and writings have been featured on WWW several times over the years.

Mr Murphy can be counted on to provide a much needed dose of common sense in a world where good sense is anything but common. In this exclusive interview, he discusses with Ms Malcolm a wide range of issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, the changes in the media landscape over the past several decades and the totalitarian impulses on the left. This is primarily for Canadians, but our American friends should find it even more relevant.

Walt here. This interview has been a great inspiration to me. If Rex Murphy won't be silenced, neither will I!

Book review: Calling out leading liberal hypocrites

Because of the Dempanic, the Fort Mudge Library has been closed for months, so I'm reduced to reading books I bought at various garage and rummage sales but never got around to. One such is Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy, by Peter Schweizer (Doubleday 2005). Although it won the Book With the Longest Title award for 2005, it's actually a fairly slim (219 pp plus notes) volume, a quick and not-too-heavy read for a hot summer day.

One might think, from the title, that Do As I Say (Etc) is going to be a hatchet job, but it's not. The author barely mentions Michael Moore's obesity and scruffiness, Bill Clinton's little tryst with an intern or Ted Kennedy's misadventure at Chappaquiddick. Nor does he dwell on the (((Jewishness))) of six of the eleven leading liberals profiled.

Instead, he presents carefully researched facts and figures detailing the record of Mr Moore, Mrs Bill Clinton, the late Senator Kennedy, and the others (Noam Chomsky, Al Franken, Ralph Nader, Nancy Pelosi, George Soros, Barbra Streisand, Gloria Steinem and Cornel West) on ethical investment, affirmative action and protecting the environment. In the Conclusion, Mr Schweizer sums up his findings thus.

How can we explain the fact that so many prominent individuals who are so passionate about their beliefs don't act accordingly? That seems to be the great paradox of liberalism as practiced by those we have profiled.... In short, they seem more interested in compelling others to embrace their vision of social change than in acting on that vision themselves....

Experience has taught these individuals that their ideas just don't work.... They really don't respect their own ideas and have privately concluded that...liberalism as practiced today does not offer them a road map to happiness.

Soak the rich, but don't soak me. Protect the environment, but let me drive my Hummer and water my lawn. Workers of the world, unite! But running a business with a union shop is just too complicated and difficult. Hire more blacks to fight racism, but let me hire my own people based on ability, not race....

The simple fact is that those in the vanguard of the liberal-left have found their own ideas to be ultimately self-defeating, self-destructive, and unworkable.

The (somewhat) good news for those of us who don't want to do what the liberal elites say is that the peasants are finally seeing at least some of the leading liberal hypocrites for what they are. The Hero of Chappaquiddick is dead. Al Franken is politically dead, killed by #MeToo. Having backed Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020, Cornel West finds himself outside the inner circles of the Dumbocratic Party.

Michael Moore signed his own death warrant by revealing the truth about alternative energy. And Hellery Clinton is politically dead too, although she refuses to lie down. But there is still (((George Soros))), now more than ever.

Mr Soros is more dangerous than the others who (mostly) just talk. He puts up real money -- scads of it -- to put the talkers he favours into places where they can take action to bring to pass the New World Order. When Slow Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi talk, what you're really hearing is the voice of Soros, the Master Ventriloquist. Don't be fooled!

Christians trying to "impose their values" on society, sez Ilhan Omar

LifeNews reports that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has slammed pro-life Christians for "trying to impose their beliefs on society." The ardent follower of the Prophet Mohammed spoke out in May against pro-life legislation on the floor of the House of Representatives, claiming laws that protect the unborn are "horrifying attacks" against women's "reproductive rights." Ms Omar advocates aborting unborn babies and forcing taxpayers to fund abortions, but of course that's different.

A vociferous pro-abortion Democrat, Ms Omar described pro-life Christians as hypocrites who just want to control women, quite unlike her co-religionists who believe women should be completely free to have sex with whomever they choose (even if it's their brothers), dress however they please (as long as they're covered from head to toe) and, of course, kill their babies in the womb (as long as it's OK with the fathers).
"Religious fundamentalists are currently trying to manipulate state laws in order to impose their beliefs on an entire society," Ms Omar shrilled, "all with complete disregard for voices and the rights of American women."

"This isn't about religious morality or conviction," she went on, "because we have seen time and time again those who talk about their faith and want to push policies because of their faith are the ones who simply are caught with the hypocrisy of not living it out in their personal lives." Again, quite unlike Ms Omar who is apparently unconcerned by the Islamic proscription on adultery. See "New Proof That Ilhan Omar Is Having an Affair", The Clarion Project, 23/10/19.

LifeNews makes the point that, though many Christians do advocate for unborn babies because of their beliefs, pro-lifers come from many different faiths (or no faith) and political persuasions. What unites them is not "religious fundamentalism" but scientific evidence and beliefs about basic human rights, above all the right to life.

Op-ed from the Voice of Truth: The embarrassment that is Trudeau

Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others.

The wishes of Rosie Barton and her never-Trumper colleagues at the Canadian Broadcorping Castration notwithstanding, the bombshell story of Canadian Liberal Party leader Just In Trudeau being exposed as an incurable narcissist is not going to go away any time soon. In the aftermath of the shocking revelations (via photos and video) of his penchant for dressing up in fancy costumes that include brownface and blackface makeup, Mr Socks has been called many things, including a hypocrite (Donna Friesen, Global TV national news anchor, and Stephen LeDrew, National Post). Walt is surprised that no-one has yet used the term "narcissist". IMHO, the definition above describes M Trudeau perfectly.

Perhaps no-one noticed that the once and (he hopes) future Prime Minister of Canuckistan lacks empathy for others -- a flaw that would encompass "racial insensitivity" -- because Just In is so good at projecting the opposite image. He's the master of apology, including the shedding of crocodile tears, to everyone (especially "marginalized communities") for every sin, real or imagined, or everyone but himself. Hey, he was a drama teacher, remember?

He has worn for so long the mask and costume of the post-modern, metrosexual champion of feminism, diversity and "wokeness" that I suspect he believes his own stuff! But today many Canucks are saying that there is some truth to the Cuckservatives' campaign message that the very white (except sometimes) knight in shining armor is "not as advertised".

This theme is taken up today by Melissa J. Gismondi, a writer and journalist who holds a PhD in American history from the University of Virginia, in an op-ed piece for the New York Times (aka the Voice of Truth and Political Correctness) entitled "The Downfall of Canada’s Dreamy Boyfriend". The article is too long to reprint in its entirety (besides which the failing Times might sue us), so I'll just recommend it as "further reading".

And in conclusion, I'll just excerpt the last two paragraphs.

"For Canadians, though, the story is different. It also has bigger stakes, coming as it does in the middle of a federal election that has seen the Liberals and Conservatives neck-and-neck in the polls. It's the latest in a series of scandals that have led many liberals to grow disillusioned and, yes, even flat out embarrassed by Mr. Trudeau.

"Sorry, Americans. As Canadians living in the United States, we tried to tell you: That dude you thought was your dreamy boyfriend? He's not all he's cracked up to be. And like you, we're wondering, as Jagmeet Singh, leader of Canada's New Democratic Party and the first person of color to lead a major party, put it: 'Who is the real Mr. Trudeau?'"

Moroccan girl writes about "the moral collapse in Islamic societies"

Ed. here. There are 1000s of blogs out there, some with their own websites, some who post on Blogspot, as we do. Checking them all out would take forever. In fact, you'd never get done because new ones pop up every day, like mushrooms after a spring rain. So we're grateful to our agents and readers who alert us to blogs that stand out from the general run of drivel and insanity.

One such is
Moroccan Girl, written by Hafida Bouhmid, who is... well... you geddit, right? She has some controversial things to say about the society in which she lives, and its predominant religion, which is Islam. Here, edited for grammar (English is not Ms Bouhmid's first langauge), is her essay on "The Moral collapse in Islamic societies", 29/8/18.

Many people consider religion the basis or source of what we call ethics. They believe that without this systematic organization human beings would never recognize civilization or achieve everything they have today. Thus, these people cannot see the possibility of having another ethical source apart from religion. Moreover, they brutally fight any attempt that starts in this direction or any thought that supports this idea even if it's all for their personal/social benefit and could save the future of the coming generations.

This is basically the core of the underdevelopment of Morocco and the majority of countries with an Islamic background. It's a genuine crisis here since we know that secularism is the solution. As well, we have western societies as a great example, since they're morally, economically, politically and culturally more advanced.

The problem with Islam is that it is considered to be a totalitarian system, seen by Muslims as a perfect exception that everybody else is incapable of understanding, and which therefore must be enforced. [Islamists] reject and attack any criticism, even if it is constructive! These creatures believe they can advance by reviving the past. They turn societies into uncivilized groups that sanctify ignorance and see violence and segregation and hate as a solution for their problems.

Thanks to Salafism, which dominates our societies, the concept of morals has become completely formal in our society. For this movement, it doesn't matter if you are completely despicable or a criminal or a hooker, as long as you have a huge beard, praying at the mosque, wear the hijab, etc. Here, ethical standards are more about what you show people rather than what you actually think and consider to be right.

Muslims go further actually as they do not respect the rejection of this thought by some minorities -- women, for instance -- and they take it upon themselves to make everyone behave in the same way through guardianship. They actually attribute their success or their failure and even the weather to how women wear their clothes. This makes people do things in secret, while claiming virtue, which can make them unconscious hypocrites.

The problem that we are facing lately is that anyone can defraud people (politically speaking) by using religion. For instance, anyone can grow a beard and promise people that if they vote for him, he'll shut down bars and cut off thieves' hands, or force all women to wear the hijab. Since democracy is a system of government where the citizens exercise power by voting, these people will easily win elections, but of course they won't do as promised.

Instead, they continue ruining the economic/political system by corrupting, embezzlement and restrictive laws that can keep media and general opinion confined. These same people use the "divide and conquer" policy, stirring up the majority against minorities in order to keep them busy.

These politicians are not stupid, since they always defend their religious beliefs by enacting laws that penalize those who criticize religion. It's always the same. People are led by their religious passion and always vote for anyone who plays the "religion card" without questioning his plans or his party platform. For them, it is enough that he said he will work according to the law of God.

Morocco today is undergoing massive transformation. The internet and globalization have enabled thousands of young people, including me, to study and to enlighten themselves despite the social differences, economic difficulties or geographical boundaries. Now everything is available for free, and it's also safe, since we can benefit from the easy access to information without anyone knowing about it.

We now understand that the ethical or moral system in our country is completely destroyed due to poverty and ignorance. To say so, however, triggers those who benefit from this common retardation, and they are now using their last weapons against us. We accept difference. I can even say that we welcome it! And we are hoping to convince other people to separate ethics or morals from religious beliefs or political orientation in order to co-exist without harming one and other.

Apartheid in Canadian: coming to an end?

How many of you, dear readers, have actually set foot on an Indian reserve? [That would be "reservation", for U.S. readers. ed.] You may have driven through, as you're hurtling along Highway 17 on the north shore of Lake Superior, but you didn't really see it, did you. What you see is just the occasional sub-standard house, the odd rusting car or pickup. It could be any impoversithed rural area.

Believe it or not, there are some reserves that are relatively prosperous, not much worse or better than an average Canadian town or suburb. If you've got oil under your reserve, you're probably doing OK. So also if your reserve has its own casino or if you're located close enough to the U.S. border to profit from, er, cross-border trade.

One such is the Kahnawake Mohawk reserve, near Montreal. Because of that proximity, they have easy access to a large job market and have become quite prosperous while benefiting from fiscal privileges granted to reserve residents.

"Reserve residents" -- there's the rub. Not a few white men and women have devised a simple but clever scheme for getting onto the reserve. By marrying an Indian, you get to be an honorary member of the band, so to speak, with all the rights and privileges that goes with Indian status.

Now the Kahnawake band council, alarmed at the number of palefaces in their midst, has given 26 non-Mohawks ten days to fold their tents, as it were, and leave the reserve. Most of them are non-native men living with Mohawk women. Indian men married to non-native women aren't being targetted, which suggests elements of racism and sexism in the new ethnic cleansing order.

Families will be broken up and husbands and fathers expelled from their homes, unless the women follow their partners off the reserve. But if they do so, they and their children will lose their family homes and their ancestral rights.

Does all this remind you of anything or any place you've heard of in the past? It reminds me of South Africa. For 45 years, that Nationalist government of that country had a formal system of separate development called "apartheid". Its aim was to have separate living areas for whites and the different black peoples who inhabited the country.

The South Africans went so far as to set up "native homelands" which had their own governments, even their own postage stamps, while remaining part of the larger republic. Canadian governments have been trying for a century to figure out how to resolve Indian land claims without having the guts to bite the bullet and give the Indians more land, rather than billions of dollars of taxpayers' cash.

The Mohawks of Kahnawake are being loudly condemned by the Doers of Good in our society for blatant racism [and sexism. ed.] for wanting to get the non-Indians off their reserve. The hypocrisy is breathtaking!

We tell the Indians they can have these small chunks of land to replace the billions of acres that they were conned out of by those who spoke with forked tongue. We tell them they can run their own local governments, make their own laws, even have their own police forces. Then we affect surprise when they want some say in who's going to live there!

Let me say it again. It is our natural condition, as humans, to want to mingle, socialize, associate and live with other people who are like ourselves! In Canada now, we are told we can't do that. We have to welcome whoever wants to be our neighbours, be they saints or scum of the earth. But the Indians got excepted from this forced multiculturalism. Now we tell them they can't discriminate against non-Indians because to do so would be to violate their "human rights".

To follow that, er, thought to its conclusion, what the federal government should do is dismantle the reserves altogether, open up the Indians' land for settlement by anyone [including real Indians? from India? ed.] and pretend that we're all one, big, happy, Canadian family.

Footnote: Don't take me to task to task for using the old-fashioned term "Indian" instead of "First Nations person" or "aboriginal" or whatever is p.c. these days. I heard a Kahnawake resident on the TV news and he called himself "Indian" so that's good enough for me.
