UPDATED WITH VIDEO: CBC admits Canucks pushing back against their "woke" propaganda, shuts down Facebook commenting

Cazart! The state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration (CBC), the font of endless torrents of liberal (and Liberal) propaganda, admitted today that (1) they do pay attention to comments on the social media, (2) they know thousands of readers/listeners disagree with their constant and cloying "wokeness", and (3) their "journalists" ["stenographers", shurely. Ed.] are cracking under the strain. 

In a remarkably self-serving "Editor's Note" published today, Editor Brodie Fenlon complains that some of his poor dears are suffering from stress and anxiety caused by "the vitriol and harassment many of them face on social media platforms and, increasingly, in the field."

He quotes one of his typists, André Picard, who calls "platforms like Twitter...a cesspool of hatred." Then he tells us that Catherine Tait, the president of CBC/Radio-Canada [who probably signs his paycheque. Ed.] "has also written about the increased abuse of journalists on social media, especially women and journalists of colour." 

Could it be that some Canadians don't like being talked down to by Toronto-based hijab-wearing Muslims? Could be! But to Ms Tait, attacks on her diverse and inclusive propagandists are nothing less than a "threat...to free speech and democracy." That's pretty rich coming from the head of a media outlet which deliberately denigrates and "de-platforms" anyone to the right of Sleepy Joe Biden! 

Am I being unfair to the Corp(se)? After all, by suppressing the criticism of folks like us, they're only trying to protect their sensitive, easily-triggered audience. So says Mr Fenlon, who says it's unaaceptable "for our audience members who try to engage with and discuss our journalism to encounter it on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, where they are almost guaranteed to be confronted by hate, racism and abuse." Horrors!

So what is the CBC going to do to promote social justice, inclusivity, diversity, yada yada yada on the social media? Answer: "beginning on Wednesday and for the next month, we will close comments on all news links and video posts to the Facebook pages belonging to the journalism division of the CBC (News, Current Affairs and Local)."

But why? Try to keep a straight face as you read this.... "As the conversation has degraded on these platforms, we find ourselves limiting what we post there. We know certain stories will draw out obnoxious and hateful comments. The truth is we spend a considerable amount of attention and resources attempting to moderate our Facebook posts. It takes a mental toll on our staff, who must wade into the muck in an effort to keep the conversation healthy for others."

Can you believe it? Facebook sets the standard by silencing Donald Trump, to protect those who still use it from the Donald's hateful thoughts. [He incites riots, you know. LOL. Ed.] So the anti-Trumpers at the CBC (that would be about 99.9% of them) are going to shut down Facebook, to protect readers from pro-Trumpers!

But fear not. In the interests of promoting social discourse, freedom of speech, yada yada, comments on the CBC News website will remain open, subject to "moderation" of course, for any articles that don't involve immigration, refugees, black crime, or the scandals and ineptitude of the Liberal government, which (by the way) funds the CBC to the tune of hunreds of millions of beaverbucks every year.

As I write this, readers were still being allowed to comment on Mr Fenlon's drivel. Here's what two readers had to say:

"Bob Evans" - "This is how dictatorships work. Speech is suppressed and the excuse given is they are 'protecting' people from harmful speech.

"Chantal LeBouthi" - "In 1934, it was illegal to criticize the German government. Even telling a joke about The government was considered treachery. People in Germany could not say or write whatever they wanted. Controlling what news appeared in newspapers, on the radio, and in newsreels. Textbooks are a good example of how propaganda and censorship worked together in the Nazi regime back in the 1930s I feeling we are going back to this and is extremely scary when is coming from so call democratic nations."

"Davide Richard" - "Perhaps if there was even a whiff of even handedness you may not anger taxpayers who pay for the cbc as much. Constantly presenting biased left wing favouring causes and opinionated news has a way of irritating us centrist thinkers."

"Jacques Untel" - "Maybe if the CBC was less 'woke', less intent on pushing the liberal agenda, you wouldn't be taking so much flak. The many Canadians who are fed up with your editorial stance, but can't comment directly on this website because of the heavy 'moderation', take their shot on Facebook."

Hm. Wish I'd said that! Here's my final comment.

UPDATED ADDED 16/6/21: Rebel News got their hands on some of CBC's internal e-mails showing how the "moderators" of the Comments section on their website. (Comments are not allowed if the subject of the story -- e.g. refugees and asylum-seekers -- is likely to attract anti-liberal feedback.) The "moderators" are now proven to have deleted "negative" comments on such subjects as Donald Trump, Wendy Mesley's use of the "N-word" and the January 6th Capitol "riots". Here's the video.

Canadian joke of the year [CBC please copy]

The "year-end round-up" season is almost upon us, so I thought I'd beat the Canadian controlled media (Hello CBC!) by declaring Justin Trudeau the Canadian joke ["newsmaker", shurely! Ed.] of the year. The joke is on the stupid Canucks who voted this oleaginous, metrosexual, narcissistic fraud into office for the second time. Are you frostbacks masochists or what?

Dear Canadian readers, I wish you a wonderful winter solstice and a politically correct new year. And may your border remain open to the flood of refugees, asylum-seekers, and dispirited never-Trumpers who will be coming your way in 2020.

Footnote: What you're just read is something you won't read or hear or see anywhere on the CBC, the state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration. The CBC is publicly funded, which means that the taxpayers of Canuckistan are paying for the steady stream of politically correct, leftie drivel than emanates from studios high above the common people of downtown Toronto.

I refer in particular to The National, the CBC's nocturnal emission which passes off propaganda as a newcast. This is not just my opinion, but that of the Financial Post's William Watson. The alternatives -- the national newscasts of CTV and Global -- are still part of the Canada's lamestream media, but better than the Canuck version of the Clinton News Network. Adjust your watching accordingly. You're welcome.

VIDEO: "Mad Max" Bernier says he doesn't mind his nickname

Agent 3, who pays attention to the politics of Canuckistan, has just e-mailed me to say that at this very moment, Justin "Mr Socks" Trudeau has emerged from his little tête-à-tête with the Governor-General, holding in his hand the writ which officially begins the federal election. Polling day will be October 21st, and the campaign is expected to be nasty, perhaps even approaching the nastiness level of an American campaign. [Impossible! Ed.]

The Leaders' Debate Commission, the creature of the Liberal government and dominated by the (((controlled media))) -- especially the state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration -- have conspired to keep Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, off the platform for the main debates scheduled for October 7th and 10th. This interview was recorded in early July in Alberta. At that time, M Bernier assumed that he would be included in the leaders' debates, so he speaks about being confident that once Canadians here what he has to say and what the PPC stands for, many will support them. And why not. Every poll done in the last year shows that the majority of Canucks are in favour of reducing immigration levels, a major plank in the PPC platform.

Now the lefties -- all the other parties are to the left of the PPC -- have dropped a cone of silence over Max, so, in the interest of fairness, Walt is reposting Mad Max's interview with Community TV, Medicine Hat's web-based broadcaster. I know M Bernier will not mind my calling him "Mad Max". Listen to his answer to the very first question. And hear what he says about Just In Trudeau, at the 56 second mark. LOL

UPDATED: Canadian media name Montréal Muslim who stabbed pregnant spouse, killing baby delivered by C-section

Canuck Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (aka the Hair Apparent) keeps rabbiting on about how diversity is Canada's strength. He keeps admonishing old stock Canadians about their dislike of Third world "refugees" and other immigrants, especially Muslims. Last spring, his Liberal party rammed a motion -- M-103 -- through Parliament to discourage people from saying anything which would tend to fan the flames of Islamophobia which are sweeping Canada faster than a BC wildfire.

Although the motion only confirms the "sense of Parliament" -- an oxymoron if ever there was one -- it has had a profoundly chilling effect on the pussies in Canada's lamestream media, notably the state-owned Canadian Broadcorping Castration. Today's case in point is "Husband arrested in stabbing of pregnant woman, whose baby died after C-section", a report on the CBC News website. Here are the first three paragraphs of the CBC News report.

A baby delivered by C-section after the child's mother was repeatedly stabbed has died in a Montreal hospital.

Police arrested the woman's husband, the primary suspect in the stabbing, not far from the apartment building where she was attacked. The man could face murder charges, according to police spokesperson Cmdr. Michael Chartrand.

The man's name has not been released. [My emphasis. Walt]

Neither Kamila Hinkson (the CBC typist who got the byline for the story) nor anyone else in the Canadian English-language media has so far had the intestinal fortitude to name the accused. (Ed. hasn't checked The Rebel, yet.) Could their reluctance to name names (from which we might guess the ethnicity and/or religion of the perp) have anything to do with M-103 and the government's dislike of anyone saying anything that would put non-Christian, non-white "newcomers" in a bad light? Let's check the French-language media to see what we can find out.

Turns out Ms Hinkson and her PC colleagues have been, errr, a little economical with the truth. La Presse tells us:

Le Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) ne voulait pas confirmer l'identité du suspect avant la fin de son interrogatoire hier. Mais sur le boulevard Langelier, à Montréal-Nord, plusieurs ont immédiatement fait le lien avec un locataire connu pour son problème de toxicomanie.

Sofiane Ghazi, 37 ans, était en couple avec une femme de 33 ans qui avait déjà deux jeunes enfants et qui attendait son troisième. La dame avait parfois peur de son conjoint, ont raconté plusieurs sources fiables.

For those not versed in the language of Molière, Walt can reveal that although the Montréal cops didn't want to disclose the ID of the culprit until they had finished their interrogation [Pass the rubber hose, please. Ed.], neighbours told La Presse they figured it was a 37-year-old crack addict by the name of... wait for it... Sofiane Ghazi. M Ghazi was coupled with a 33-year-old woman who already had two young children and was awaiting her third. Let's see. "Sofiane Ghazi". Doesn't sound French to me. Or English. Or anything else "old stock". If M Ghazi's ethnicity, religion and status in Canada are ever disclosed, Walt will let you know. But don't hold your breath.

Meanwhile, down at the courthouse... an interesting legal question arises. After being stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen, M Ghazi's partner was delivered of her child, by C-section. The mother survived, but the child, born live, did not. Was the child, then, a murder victim? Canadian courts will now have to revisit the question of when a fetus becomes a human being.

Under the Canadian Criminal Code (Agent 3 advises), "a child becomes a human being...when it has completely proceeded, in a living state, from the body of its mother, whether or not (a) it has breathed; (b) it has an independent circulation; or (c) the navel string is severed." By that definition, the "thing" that M Ghazi stabbed, while still inside "its" mother, would not be considered a human being. That, of course, is what the pro-abortion people keep saying. It will be interesting to see what position the feminist Justin Trudeau and his feminine Minister of Justice take on this case.

UPDATE 26/7/17: The English-language Canadian media have now overcome their shyness to reveal the identity and other details of the murderer. We can call him that, for Sofiane Ghazi has been charged with the attempted murder of his wife, Raja Ghazi, and her baby. In an updated report by a different typist, CBC News reveals that, according to his Facebook page, M Ghazi moved to Montréal from Oran, Algeria, in 2012. Something like 95% of Algerians are... wait for it... Muslim. Unless and until M Ghazi says otherwise, we'll assume he too is a follower of the Prophet. Perhaps he will say that this was an affair of honour for which he should be excused in the name of "accommodation".

M Ghazi's FB page says he works at clothing retailer Lacoste and formerly worked at a heating, ventilating and air conditioning service located in Saint-Bruno. Last month, he was arrested and charged with assaulting his wife. Around the same time, he was arrested for allegedly stealing perfume from a Jean Coutu pharmacy.

Nothing  has been said yet about M Ghazi's immigration status, but Walt predicts (lifetime pct .988) that no matter the disposition of these and the latest charges, he will undoubtedly remain in Canada for a long time, possibly forever. After all, Junior Trudeau says Canada must welcome Muslims because they add to the diversity which makes the country strong.

VIDEOS: Peter Mansbridge retires: end of an era at the CBC - Part 1

So farewell then, Peter Mansbridge. Today will be your last time anchoring The National and telling grateful Canucks "Thanks for watching. Now go to sleep." OK, just kidding about the last part, but Agent 3 assures us that watching Mr Mansbridge read the news is the last thing he does most nights, before turning out the light. So also it has been for millions of Canadians. Now, no more.

Peter Mansbridge first sat in the CBC National News anchor's chair just over 29 years ago. Since then he has become an institution -- a rare thing in the Not-so-great, Not-so-white North -- the Canadian counterpart to the late great Walter Cronkite. In spite of the fact that he spoke for the state broadcaster, Canucks trusted Peter not to lie to them, and he didn't... as far as anyone can tell. People trusted him. The news was what he said it was, no more and no less.

Peter Mansbridge was not the first CBC national news anchor, of course. The CBC's English television service debuted in the fall of 1952. Agent 3 is old enough to remember those early days, and with his help we've put together a photo montage of most of the people who sat at the Big Desk from them until now.

There at the creation (or almost) was Larry Henderson, the only CBC newscaster to sport a dapper pencil moustache, à la Errol Flynn. By all accounts, Mr Henderson was no Errol Flynn, but a serious but pleasant straight shooter, establishing the model for those who would follow. He was the first regular reader of the National News, serving from 1954 to 1959. A devout churchman, he went on to become the editor of the Catholic Register. He died in 2006 at the age of 89.

Special mention must be made here of Rex Loring, a long-time CBC newsie who passed away in April of this year, at the age of 91. (There must have been something in the water at CBC's old Jarvis Street studios in Toronto.)

Known mostly for his work on CBC Radio, Mr Loring filled in for Larry Henderson on weekends and when the latter was off. At one point he even grew a moustache -- no pic could be found -- so he'd be all set to take over when Mr Henderson left, but in vain, as the job went to the moustacheless but more avuncular Earl Cameron. A pic of Mr Cameron proved even harder to find than one of Mr Loring's moustache, but Ed. did manage to locate this very short clip of Earl doing his job.



Earl Cameron succeeded Larry Henderson as the anchor of the CBC National News in 1959. During the 1960s, managers at CBC News moved towards a philosophy of regarding news announcers as journalists rather than performers. As part of this shift, they put pressure on the announcers' union to accept an agreement prohibiting news readers from commercials or accepting outside contracts with ad agencies. In 1965, Mr Cameron gave up reading commercials for such products such as Crest toothpaste and Nash Rambler automobiles, but that didn't save him. He was dropped from the anchor position the following year, but continued as a staff announcer for another decade. He died in 2005 at the age of... wait for it... 89.

There was something of a revolving door (or a revolving chair) at the National News for the next four years, as the CBC kept up its search for a "real journalist" as opposed to an actor or "bingo caller" who just read what was put in front of him. (Rex Loring was the acknowledged master of the "cold read" -- reading convincingly a script which was handed to him while in the middle of a newscast.) Lloyd Robertson had moved to Toronto to host CBC Weekend in the late 1960s, and anchored The National from 1970 to 1976, before jumping to the independent CTV network.

One of the reasons he left the CBC was his frustration at union regulations which confined news anchors to the role of announcer, prohibiting them from writing their own scripts or participating in editorial decisions concerning the news broadcast. Mr Robertson is still alive and, at the age of 83, still appearing occasionally on CTV.

Some of our readers will have fond and funny memories of the SCTV News, a regular shtick on SCTV, the funniest sketch comedy show ever. Eugene Levy's Earl Camembert character on SCTV was named after Earl Cameron, but otherwise bore no resemblance, except maybe for the bow tie that Earl sometimes wore. The name was merely an offhand joke designed to get a laugh from Canadian viewers. The same is true of Camembert's co-anchor, Floyd Robertson, played by Joe Flaherty, who otherwise bore only a small resemblance to Lloyd Robertson.

Canadians found not so crazy about multiculturalism after all

Canada's state-owned broadcaster, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (aka "Canadian Broadcorping Castration" -- look it up!) is so liberal, so politically correct, so Toronto-centric, so multiculti, that Canucks outside of Toronto have deserted its radio services in droves. Some believe that CBC's earnest programmes have better ratings when rebroadcast on PBR than they do at home.

Rumours of a "blacklash of the white flees" penetrated even the red walls of Fortress CBC in Toronto. In a rare fit of interest in what the Canadian public thinks, the limo liberals in the executive suites decided to commission a poll to find out what TROC really thinks about immigration, multiculturalism and "Canadian values and identity" -- this after pooh-poohing claims by Conservative leadership hopeful Kellie Leitch that these are issues which concern anyone other than a few rednecks in the wilds of Alberta.

Imagine the surprise and soiling of shorts in the CBC's John Street HQ when the poll conducted for them by the Angus Reid Institute confirmed that Canucks really do think differently from their "American cousins" when it comes to multiculturalism, immigration and values. But not in the way the CBC and its Liberal masters would like. Believe it or not, after half a century of having multiculturalism forced down their throats and up other orifices, Canadians are more likely than Americans to think minorities should assimilate. Here's the key finding.

To its credit, the CBC hasn't buried this story. It's the lead on the national radio news this morning and has a prominent position on the CBC News website, headlined "Canadians want minorities to do more to 'fit in'". Walt will let you read the complete poll results for yourself, but needs to draw attention to a pithy comment by Ujjal Dosangh, a Liberal former Premier of British Columbia and federal cabinet minister.

Mr Dosanjh has written and spoken extensively about the need to address concerns about equality, race and culture in the face of blind devotion to multiculturalism. He told the CBC that the poll shows Canada's political leadership needs to pay attention. "What you want is creative multiculturalism, generous multiculturalism," he said, "not unthinking or mindless multiculturalism where everything anybody brings to this country is acceptable."

"Diversity is great if we can begin to live with each other in equality, in understanding...but we also understand our collective obligations to building a better society. If we can't live together with each other properly and make concessions to each other, then this phrase that politicians use — that diversity is a strength — is nonsensical."
