Canadians found not so crazy about multiculturalism after all

Canada's state-owned broadcaster, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (aka "Canadian Broadcorping Castration" -- look it up!) is so liberal, so politically correct, so Toronto-centric, so multiculti, that Canucks outside of Toronto have deserted its radio services in droves. Some believe that CBC's earnest programmes have better ratings when rebroadcast on PBR than they do at home.

Rumours of a "blacklash of the white flees" penetrated even the red walls of Fortress CBC in Toronto. In a rare fit of interest in what the Canadian public thinks, the limo liberals in the executive suites decided to commission a poll to find out what TROC really thinks about immigration, multiculturalism and "Canadian values and identity" -- this after pooh-poohing claims by Conservative leadership hopeful Kellie Leitch that these are issues which concern anyone other than a few rednecks in the wilds of Alberta.

Imagine the surprise and soiling of shorts in the CBC's John Street HQ when the poll conducted for them by the Angus Reid Institute confirmed that Canucks really do think differently from their "American cousins" when it comes to multiculturalism, immigration and values. But not in the way the CBC and its Liberal masters would like. Believe it or not, after half a century of having multiculturalism forced down their throats and up other orifices, Canadians are more likely than Americans to think minorities should assimilate. Here's the key finding.

To its credit, the CBC hasn't buried this story. It's the lead on the national radio news this morning and has a prominent position on the CBC News website, headlined "Canadians want minorities to do more to 'fit in'". Walt will let you read the complete poll results for yourself, but needs to draw attention to a pithy comment by Ujjal Dosangh, a Liberal former Premier of British Columbia and federal cabinet minister.

Mr Dosanjh has written and spoken extensively about the need to address concerns about equality, race and culture in the face of blind devotion to multiculturalism. He told the CBC that the poll shows Canada's political leadership needs to pay attention. "What you want is creative multiculturalism, generous multiculturalism," he said, "not unthinking or mindless multiculturalism where everything anybody brings to this country is acceptable."

"Diversity is great if we can begin to live with each other in equality, in understanding...but we also understand our collective obligations to building a better society. If we can't live together with each other properly and make concessions to each other, then this phrase that politicians use — that diversity is a strength — is nonsensical."

PC police shame "white men of the West" into silence

You can't call Ujjal Dosanjh a racist, or a white supremacist, or even a conservative right-wing nutjob. Born in a village in Punjab, India, he emigrated to the United Kingdom at the age of 17 before moving to Canada almost four years later. He worked numerous manual labour jobs and attended university, studying political science. He earned his law degree at the University of British Columbia and opened his own law firm.

Mr. Dosanjh is a card-carrying Liberal. He served as Premier of British Columbia from 2000 to 2001 and as a Liberal Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2011. A moderate member of Vancouver's large Sikh community, he has been a vocal opponent of violence and extremism.

Keep Mr. Dosanjh's background as you read some excerpts from his blog for January 2nd, headed "The silencing of the white men of the West!". He argues persuasively that by silencing white men in the name and through the power of poliltical correctness, Canada can’t have an honest debate about equality, race and culture. It's important you read this because what he says about Canada's PC police goes, in spades [Watch it! Ed.], for the USA and the rest of the West.

Mr. Dosanjh writes: What started as a legitimate change to bring about equality and transformation of how we viewed, treated and spoke about each other has now ossified into a rarely breached wall of silence; a silence reinforced by the onset of the West's indifference to its own - good, bad or ugly but - distinct societies, their values and norms; call it white man's burden or guilt; a guilt for the sins of the past now manifesting itself in the white man's fear.

But the real need for equality and social justice for all has also spawned the much despised political correctness preventing us from being honest with each other. Politicians afraid of  "ethnic backlashes" revel in silence policed by the so called multiculturalists who might be more appropriately called multicults - the practitioners of a fierce brand of exclusivist Multiculturalism that ought to be renamed Multicultism. Under these circumstances when politicians do speak they utter non sequiturs,simply bromides.

It seems some of us have so thoroughly shamed the white men into complete submission regarding our misplaced belief that Canada has no core identity or core values; so much so that even our Prime Minister won't defend what was so dear to his own father - what he had fought so hard for.

On matters of race, religion, culture and national identity of Canada the white men are reduced to either silence or non sequiturs. If the white men of Canada can't overcome the fear of rebuke from the enforcers of fear, Canadians can't ever have an honest debate about the state of equality, race, culture and the place and space for religion and other languages in Canada.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Or, if I had said it, I'd have been called a racist bastard, white supremacist, yada yada yada. And the PC police would be at my doorstep, if only they could locate my cabin in the pines.

Canada's welcome of 25,000 Muslim refugees "madness": Le Pen

Ujjal Dosanjh wasn't the only one to express concern over the plan of Canada's New Liberal Government (STARRING!!! Justin TRUUUUUDEAU!!!) to welcome into the Great No-longer-white North 25,000 Muslim "refugees". See "Rex Murphy on Kathleen Wynne", posted here earlier today.

Marine Le Pen, leader of France's Front National (and very possibly next president of La République!)Front, calls the project "madness".

"There," she said, in an interview with CBC-TV's fifth estate, "I've said it. Madness!" She went on to say, "There are other ways to do it," adding that the "danger is real -- false passports [or] real passports given to Islamic fundamentalists in the influx of immigrants to enter the country with the intent to commit terrorist attacks. It's a danger. And that's what happened in Paris."

As Walt mentioned in a footnote to "Paris jihadist attacks result of suicidal stupidity" Mme Le Pen's political star is in the ascendant, in the wake of Islamic terrorist attacks in Paris. Even before the events of Friday the 13th, she was doing well in French public opinion polls, particularly in two regions in the southeast and the depressed north, where she is vying to be president of Nord-Pas de Calais in regional elections set for early December.

France already has the largest Muslim population of any west European country, in percentage terms. Revulsion at the Islamization of France -- once known as "the eldest daughter of the Church" -- runs high. Mme Le Pen told fifth estate her solution to the migrant crisis is to kick them out and seal the borders. "The influx of migrants must be stopped," she said. "We know Islamic fundamentalists have infiltrated this flux of migrants to slip by unnoticed."

Rex Murphy on Kathleen Wynne

I hope no-one will be misled by the headline. Rex Murphy is not literally "on" -- as in "on top of" -- Kathleen Wynne. The very thought boggles the mind. But buddy dere has been talking about Ontario's openly lesbian (and proud of it!) Premier, as has the openly heterosexual man she replaced. See "Ontario's lesbian Premier thrown under school bus by former boss" (WWW 26/11/15).

Ms/Mr Wynne has a self-righteous, dogmatic approach to "conversations" about such things as "gender fluidity", sex education, diversity and any other issues on which she knows she's right. Her liberal (and Liberal) bias was made even more clear than usual earlier this week when she called the 67% of Canucks who had misgivings about the federal Liberals' plan to import 25,000 Muslim refugees "closet racists".

One of the many who advocated for a more thorough screening than the original plan allowed for was Ujjal Dosanjh, a card-carrying Liberal, former Premier of British Columbia, and former federal cabinet minister. Mr. Dosanjh is himself an immigrant to Canada, and has been a target of racists attacks, including a brutal beating by Sikh extremists. He was quite understandably miffed by Ms/Mr Wynne’s statement that critics of the latest example of Liberal pandering to vizmins were "tapping into a racist vein." Mr. Dosanjh shot back that he didn’t much like being called "a racist and a xenophobe."

In his column in Canada's National Post, Rex Murphy calls Ujjal Dosanjh "a truly admirable Canadian", and takes Mr/Ms Wynne to task for her narrow-minded attitude. He writes:

Wynne has lately shown an unseemly eagerness to mark any disagreement with her "progressive" worldview as the product of corrupt thinking or moral defect. She seems unwilling or unable to believe that others can have ideas different from those she espouses, unless they, her critics, are morally inferior to her and their ideas are the products of ugly or ignorant minds.

This stance is unworthy of any citizen in a democracy, especially a premier. Progressives share with the most regressive fundamentalists, this tendency to mark off the world into good and evil. Naturally, the progressives are on the positive side of that table. It is a nasty phenomenon. And if it results, even indirectly, in an indictment of Dosanjh as less of a moral being than those he challenges, as being in the camp of racists and xenophobes — the very forces he has faced with personal courage and resolve — then it is very easy to see how shameless and bankrupt that line of thinking really is.

La France à M. Dosanjh: Mange de la merde!

To continue the theme of yesterday's post, let's be clear about why France, the home of liberty, equality and fraternity, is expelling the Roma. The gypsies are not big on the fraternity part.

In France (and everywhere the "travellers" go), they do not even try to integrate with the host society. They live in tents or wagons, in camps of horrific filth and squalor. They do not work, preferring to live on state benefits, if possible, supplemented by stealing and other illegal pursuits.

The French just got tired of having the Romas on their soil and trying, unsuccessfully, to deal with them. What do you do with people who have no will to integrate, work, have a business, or otherwise adhere to the values of the majority? So the French said, either try to be good citizens or go back where you came from. Very refreshing in this age of political correctness, no?

Entrez (as in "go into France") Monsieur Ujjal Dosanjh. He is not French. [What part of Ireland is he from, then? ed.] He is not Irish either! He is Indo-Canadian, and a very visible minority too, for he is a member of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition in the Parliament of Canada.

Rather than attending to the nation's business in Ottawa, Mr. Dosanjh has embarked on a one-man fact-finding mission to France, to investigate that country's treatment of the Roma.

Does he have an open mind? Well, errrr...not exactly. Before actually visiting any gypsy camps or meeting any gypsy kings or queens, Mr. Dosanjh stated that expelling the Roma from France is "not a solution to that European problem".

He went on to say “I think France is dealing with this situation in a very un-French way. France is the home of liberty, equality and fraternity and this is absolutely antithetical to that.... They are doing it for purely political purposes. I believe it’s wrong for any government to target already marginalized people for just some political trolling.”

The French have so far been restrained in their response to the Hindu chap's remarks. They have not yet asked him how he would deal with the situation. Would he, for instance, suggest putting all the gypsies on a boat and shipping them out to Vancouver? All the more Liberal votes for the Lower Mainland!

British Columbians must be thanking their God (or gods) that Mr. Dossanjh and his party are not in power. Meanwhile, the French are probably wishing that Mr. D., like the gypsies, would just go home.

Follow-up: RCMP investigates threats against Indo-Canadian MP

Earlier this week, in a post headed "Sikh, Sikh, Sikh", I shared with you quotes by Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh on the subject of Sikh extremism and terrorism. Predictably, Mr. Dosanjh has now been threatened with death by anonymous posters on Facebook. Here is the Canadian Press report, as published in today's Toronto Star.

Members of the RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team are investigating threats against B.C. MP Ujjal Dosanjh. Insp. Paul Richardson says his team was informed Thursday of what he described as “very serious” threats posted on Facebook, and an investigation is underway.

Several of the entries have been removed from the site but at least one posting on Friday morning urged the assassination of the Indo-Canadian politician, saying it would be better to pierce Dosanjh with bullets than compassion.

Dosanjh has been an outspoken critic of Sikh extremism, and most recently sounded the alarm that extremism might be on the rise in Canada after he was the target of veiled threats on a Punjabi-language radio show. He says some of the postings have been printed for him and “Canadians should take these threats very seriously as an indication of poisoned minds, born and raised in Canada.”

The one-time B.C. premier has received threats in the past and was severely beaten in 1985 for his condemnation of Sikh violence in the Punjab during the Khalistan separatist movement.

Innocent questions: Who do you suppose the anonymous posters might be? Do you think they might wear turbans? If any are ever identified, do you think they'll be prosecuted for uttering threats or hate crimes? Answers on the back of a postage stamp to Walt at the usual address.

Sikh, Sikh, Sikh

A couple of years back, when Agent 78 visited Toronto for the first time, she was taken by her host on a tour of downtown Toronto which included a stop at Osgoode Hall, seat of the Supreme Court of Ontario. In the beautiful Queen's Bench courtroom, she was shown a bullet hole in one of the lawyers' desks.

That, she was told, is where Oscar Fonseca was killed in 1982. Mr. Fonseca, a lawyer, was working at the time, representing a group of Sikhs fighting -- literally -- for control of a temple. Click here to read the story.

The bullet hole is still there, and it should remind us that the Sikh way of resolving disputes is, er... not exactly the Canadian way. Better to kill someone than go to court and take your chances in front of a Canadian judge.

28 years later, no lessons seem to have been learned. On April 4th, a Sikh lawyer, was stabbed at a Sikh temple in Brampton. (Brampton, a bedroom community northwest of Toronto, is home to a large community of Sikhs, so much so that one of its subdivisions, Springdale, is known to locals as "Sikhdale".)

A local news report concludes, "Harvans Jandali, president of Ontario Sikh and Gurdwara Council, condemned the violence, saying 'the fight should have never happened at the temple — that’s a sacred place.'”

Yes, well... On the 18th, it happened again. This time there was a "pitched battle" (I'm quoting the report in the Toronto Star) at another temple. Four people were injured and three arrested.

Violence is the Sikh way of resolving disputes and settling scores. Am I exaggerating or generalizing? Don't forget the bombing of Air India Flight 182. Read the Wikipedia article, particularly the list of suspects. See all those "Singhs"? Although not all Singhs are Sikhs, all Sikhs are Singhs. Thanks to the super-fairness of the Canadian court system and the vaunted Canadian Charter of Rights, only one Sikh was ever convicted.

Why are all these Sikhs killing (or trying to kill) each other, here in Canada? Why can they not leave the battles of their homelands (India and Pakistan) behind them? Why do they insist on wearing their turbans and special underwear and carrying their small but deadly kirpans, even into our schools?

Before you start telling me to be more tolerant, let me quote the wise words of Ujjal Dosanjh, an Indian-Canadian, a former federal cabinet minister and onetime premier of British Columbia. He is quoted in today's Globe & Mail as saying Sikh extremism is on the rise in some parts of the country. And he blames, in part, “politically correct” Canadians who let it happen in the name of diversity.

Mr. Dosanjh was savagely beaten in Vancouver in 1985 after speaking out against religious violence, Canadian multiculturalism, he says, has allowed extremism to take root in Sikh and other ethnic communities.

Don't accuse me of racism and intolerance! Take Mr. Dossanjh's word for it. "Separatist extremism is more entrenched in some Canadian Sikh communities than in Punjab, the Indian region where the "Free Khalistan" movement originated." Jane Armstrong's excellent article is worth quoting at length.

"Mr. Dosanjh blamed what he described as Canada’s polite brand of multiculturalism for giving extremists the space to nurture old grudges brought from their homelands. At the same time, Canada has failed to instill its own values on new immigrants.

"'I think what we are doing to this country is that this idea of multiculturalism has been completely distorted, turned on its head to essentially claim that anything anyone believes – no matter how ridiculous and outrageous it might be – is okay and acceptable in the name of diversity.'

"'Where we have gone wrong in this pursuit of multiculturalism is that there is no adherence to core values, the core Canadian values, which [are]: That you don’t threaten people who differ with you; you don’t go attack them personally; you don’t terrorize the populace.'

"Mr. Dosanjh urged mainstream Canadians who aren’t part of these ethnic communities to step up and speak against extremism. 'I think Canadians need to engage in this cultural diversity debate,' he said. 'We should stop being politically correct and have a debate.'"
