Springsteen doesn't see anyone who could beat Trump in 2020

Not long ago, slovenly media star Michael Moore opined that the Democrats didn't have anyone [excluding himself? Ed.] capable of defeating Donald Trump in the presidential election due in just under two years. Now a real A-list celeb echos that sentiment. Bruce Springsteen hisself gave an interview to the Sunday Times a few days ago to promote his upcoming Netflix special Springsteen On Broadway. Naturally he was asked to give his learned opinion on American politics, and replied that he doesn't see anyone out there at the moment -- man, woman or "other" -- who's got a shot at taking down the President.

In "Bruce Springsteen on how Donald Trump won over his blue-collar fans", the Times says, "Donald Trump's most dangerous opponent may not be a politician, but a blue-collar rocker called Bruce Springsteen who shares millions of the same supporters as the Republican president, and also understands what makes grassroots America tick. So Trump should be pleasantly surprised to learn that Springsteen, a long-standing Democrat who campaigned for Barack Obama, believes the Donald is heading for a second term in the White House. The president has a flair for winning over working-class voters that the Democrats can't rival, the singer admits. In short, Trump was born to run, and may be unstoppable."

The Boss told the paper, "I don't see anyone out there at the moment -- the man who can beat Trump, or the woman who can beat Trump." In other words, the Democratic Party simply has no "obvious effective presidential candidate" who will be able to take on the president, because they don't "speak the same language" he does. The language he was referring to, he explained, is the language of Middle America.

According to the singer-cum-pundit, Mr Trump spoke directly to the concerns of Americans in flyover country about employment and economic stagnation. The Donald addressed issues that were neglected by both Democrats and Republicans over the last few decades, including the shutting down of steel mills in the 70s and 80s, which Mr Springsteen described as a "severe blow to working people."

Mr Springsteen went on to say that the massive changes occurring at an "incredibly rapid pace", particularly as a result of technological developments, left many Americans seeing their means of income and ways of life in upheaval. What Mr Trump had to say resonated with many traditionally Democrat voters, particularly in the Rust Belt, and (the opinions of the lamestream media pundits notwithstanding) his election was inevitable.

"Add to that," the singer-songwriter added [haha. Ed.], "someone comes in and plays on your racial anxieties, and blames an enormous amount of this on the 'other' from the southern side of the border, and you're going to have an audience for those views." Walt notes that Mr Springsteen didn't say Mr Trump was wrong, only that what he had to say found a receptive audience, just like The Boss's alleged music. It is interesting (but idle) to speculate on what America might be like today, had you won the presidential election of 2008. Those who opposed you vilified you for being an older white male. It was time for someone quite different, they said. After eight years of misrule by the token they chose, the people opted for an older white male. And here we are. Rest In Peace.

Zimbabwe "con court" upholds election result -- surprised?

On August 2nd, Walt reported that Comrade Emmerson "ED" Mnangagwa (pictured with his crocodile smile) won the presidential election in the banana Republic of Zimbabwe by a slim majority -- 50.8% -- just enough to avoid a run-off election.

The result, attributable to massive vote-rigging and intimidation, was challenged by the major opposition party, the MDC, who moved in the country's Constitutional Court (aptly nicknamed the "Con Court") to set aside the result.

This morning Deutsche Welle reports that the Con Court upheld the results of the election. Encore une surprise, non? Expectations of any change in the ultra-left ruling party's disastrous social and economic policies -- e.g. the land grab that dispossessed hundreds of white farmers, as mentioned below -- should therefore be set aside. Mother Africa Wins Again!

ED wins Zimbabwe presidential election - quelle surprise!

The suspense is over. Just as I predicted this morning, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) announced late tonight (local time) that ED is the winner of the country's presidential election. Noooooo! Not our Ed., but Comrade Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, popularly (?) known as "ED". Or "the Crocodile", but don't say that too loudly or his supporters (pictured cheering the announcement) will punish you for insulting the President, an offence under Zim law since the days of President Banana. No kidding. You can look it up.

The ZEC announced that ED had won 50.8% of the vote, just enough to avoid a runoff. Nelson Chamisa, candidate of the MDC Alliance, got 44.3%. As our friend Poor Len Canayen would say, the Crocodile had the puck nailed to his stick. Lifetime pct .992.

The ruling ZANU-PF party won 144 of the 210 seats in Zimbabwe's rubber-stamp parliament. That's a two-thirds majority, which would enable it to change the constitution in the unlikely event that the opposition candidate had won. The opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) took 61 seats, and three seats remained "undeclared" when the lights went out tonight.

Shortly before the commission's announcement, the chief agent for the MDC Alliance took the stage at election central to say that his party "totally rejects" the results, and that he had not signed the papers. The police pictured in Walt's earlier post then escorted him from the room.

After being released, the chief agent said the elections were "fraudulent" and "everything has been done illegally." So, he said, he refused the ZEC's request to sign papers certifying Mnangagwa's win.
"We're not part of it," he said, adding that the opposition would be challenging the election in the courts.

The announcement came after clashes between opposition protesters and soldiers in Ha-ha-harare (the Fun Capital of Africa) left at least six people dead. The unrest marred what had been billed as an important milestone in Zimbabwe's efforts to return to democracy following 37 years of repression under longtime leader Robert Gabriel Mugabe. Comrade Bob is still alive but was unable to comment as he was said to be having a nap.

This morning we've got a really great video clip from the campaign trail. Speaking at a campaign rally in Montana yesterday, President Trump unveiled the "secret" debate tactic which he'll use against Democratic presidential challenger Senator Elizabeth Warren in the unlikely event he goes mano-a-mano with her in the 2020 presidential electioni. Ms Warren has repeatedly claimed to be of Native American [formerly "Indian". Ed.] heritage, and parlayed her self-proclaimed minority heritage into a tenured position as a professor at Harvard Law School. But there is no credible evidence, documentary or genetic, that supports Senator Warren's claim, which is why POTUS delights in calling her "Pocahontas". Here's the clip.



Breitbart News broke the story of Ms Warren's dubious claim in 2012. The Native American wannabe dreamed up her ancestry for inclusion in the Pow Wow Chow Cookbook -- not kidding about that title -- published in 1984. All the documentary evidence produced since then shows that her Native American heritage is exactly zero percent (0%).

However, since no-one called her on it, Ms Warren began listing herself as a minority in the 1986-1987 Association of American Law Schools Directory of Faculty, a claim she continued to make in that publication until the mid-90s. Thus she was able to rise from her gig at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, to a full-time, tenured position as a professor at Harvard Law School in 1995. And come election time, who could help but vote for a HLS professor? Shows you the power of a well-written résumé!

Walt hopes Senator Warren gets the Democratic nomination in 2020. I pledge, God helping me, to stay alive and awake for the debate, just to see President Trump do this. I've already made the popcorn, which I'll pop into the freezer [Geddit? Ed.] until then.

Oprah for President... and, for Vice-President... ???

Ahhhh... this is too easy. This one didn't even need a caption. I don't think Ed.'s going to let me run many more of these.

Oprah for President in 2020?

Well... why not? Who else have the Democrats got? Nancy Pelousy? Joe Hasbin? Bob Eager? Obviously they can't run Hellery Clinton again, so those wonderful folks who brought you "Hillary 2016" last night floated a trial balloon -- a large one -- for a run by one of the World's Richest Women. She war born in the USA -- no "birther" problem there -- on the wrong side of the tracks (check) and is 100% black, not just black-when-necessary-but-not-necessarily-black, like the last Democrat to occupy the Oval Office.

Oprah is also a certified ["certifiable"? Ed.] gliberal, with hyuge media exposure, just like the other one... Whoopie something-or-other. She's also a member of one of America's most bullied minorities -- the chronically overweight. Of course she's never held elected office, but just over a year ago President Trump proved that needn't be a hindrance. In fact, in an interview with Larry King some years ago, The Donald said Ms Winfrey was a great woman, yada yada yada, and might make a good running mate for Himself.

The idea of Oprah Winfrey running for the presidensity sounds to me like a Hollywood liberal dream. I watched the enraptured crowd at the Golden Globes [I always thought that referred to part of a leading lady's anatomy. Ed.] last night, and that's what I saw -- the Hollywood liberal establishment. Lots of (((Jews))) (but no (((Harvey Weinstein)))) and lots of empowered women, but almost no persons of colour (that I could see) or California Republicans (an endangered species).

The people practically wetting themselves when the heavily bespectacled Queen of Spades ["Queen of Daytime TV", shurely! Ed.] started ranting about revolution are the same people who told Americans to vote for Hellery Clinton, and threatened to move to Canada if she lost. She did; they didn't. That's all ye know and all ye need to know.

Don't know where this one (above) originated, but I saw it on Blazing Cat Fur, always good for a laugh at the lefties' expense.

To all these anti-Trumpers (but especially the CBC's Keith Boag, MSNBC's Rachel Madcow and the wimmin at The View)... Donald Trump is still POTUS!



A year has passsed, and the gliberals, the chattering classes and the lamestream meeja are still in denial. They're still pissing and moaning, but they can't change that fact. Nor can all their talk of impeachment change the fact that Mr Trump will remain in the White House until January of 2021, and perhaps for another four years after that!

Not that the Trump-haters aren't trying to bring his administration to a premature end. The (((liberal media))) are still churning out the fake news, counting what they say are lies and pointing the finger of scorn at the President's supposed gaffes. The latest example of their anti-Trump hysteria is the Great Koi Feeding Scandal, which turned out to be nothing of the sort.

You've probably seen the video of President Trump dumping a large quantity of fish food into a pool full of loi -- the huge goldfish beloved of east Asians -- while on a state visit to Japan. In a headline since taken down, the British newspaper The Independent raged "Trump tramples Japanese koi carp ritual". We all know you're supposed to feed goldfish slowly, and only a little bit, right? Otherwise you'll find them belly up in the water the next morning. So what POTUS did was supposed to show his disregard for the fish, the environment, and Japanese customs.

The only problem is, he was only following the lead of his host, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who had done the same thing only moments before. The whole thing was just a case of two world leaders doing a boring photo op. How did it become such a big, anti-Trump deal on all the lamestream networks? Because the so-called "journalists" and their (((masters))) wanted it so. Mr Trump may be... hell, he is the President of the USA, but the media bias against him is just as strong or stronger than it was a year ago.

The 2017 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals that trust is in crisis around the world. People's trust in all four key institutions -- business, government, NGOs, and media -- has declined broadly, and rightly so. People no longer believe that the "system" is working for them. Their societal and economic concerns -- globalization, the pace of innovation, immigration and eroding social values -- have become fears, spurring the rise of populism now playing out in the USA and other Western democracies. It's that lack of trust that doomed Hellery Clinton's campaign and got The Donald elected!

Français! Choisir, pas difficile!

This past Sunday the people of France voted in the first round of that country's presidential election. Walt's preferred candidate, Marine Le Pen, leader of the Front National, finished a close second to Emmanuel Macron, the candidate of the "extreme centre". The only surprise, to me, was that Mme Le Pen did not finish first, after the latest Islamic terrorist attack. This result, while largely in line with polling expectations, is still a huge event in the long-term arc of French politics. The second round of the election -- the finale -- will take place on May 7th, when Mme Le Pen and M Macron go mano-a-mano, so to speak. The winner becomes the president of France. Well before the polls closed on the first round, the lamestream media were crowing that, even if Mme Le Pen, topped the polls, she would get trounced in the second round by whichever "mainstream" candidate she faced. That's because (they say) Mme Le Pen is a creature of the extreme right and is unacceptable to the vast majority of progressive, modern, politically correct yada yada yada voters. Just like Donald Trump.

Well, yaboo to that! According to the latest Opinionway-Orpi poll, as reported in the online edition of the Express today, Marine Le Pen's campaign for the presidency is gathering increasing momentum as she closes the gap on M Macron. The poll showed Mme Le Pen would garner 41% of the vote in the runoff – a score up two percentage points in two days -- while M Macron's share dropped to 59%.

Other polls are in the same range. A 20-point gap is a lot, but the polls show the momentum is with Mme Le Pen. By acting too confident, M Macron could easily blow the election that is his to lose. Just like Hellery Clinton.

What is important is that the people of France have, for the first time since Charles De Gaulle returned from Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, a clear choice for their future. They can vote for France and for civilization, or for globalism and the Islamization of Europe. It's that simple.

Marine Le Pen criticizes Pope, Church for interfering in French politics

In an interview with La Croix, Marine Le Pen, the Front National candidate for the presidensity of France, said she was angry with the Roman Catholic Church "because I think it interferes with everything except what it should really be concerned with."

Mme Le Pen told the French daily that she has a "strong faith, and I am fortunate that I have never doubted it." She was, however, critical of Pope Francis, particularly on the issue of immigration. Charitable activities should be the responsibilities of individuals, she said, while states should pursue their national interests. "When the Pope urges nations to accept immigrants without restrictions," she declared, "this falls within the realm of politics and even interference."

The Front National leader took a strong stand for the French tradition of secularism in government and in public affairs generally. She argued that religious symbols such as the Islamic veil should not be allowed in public. "Secularism means that one can pass someone in the street," she explained, "without either one knowing what faith the other follows."

When asked whether religious leaders have a right to enter into public debates, Mme Le Pen replied, "I don’t get involved with what the Pope should say to his followers. I don't think religious should tell the French people how to vote." She went on to say that if she is elected President of France, she will "with great pleasure" invite the Pope to visit, "and I will tell him exactly what I have just told you!"

The first round of voting in France's presidential election takes place next week. If none of the candidates wins a majority, a run-off between the top two contenders will be held on May 7th.

VIDEO: How Marine Le Pen can win the French presidency

An article in last week's Economist predicts, with the magazine's usual air of superiority, that popular Front National leader Marine Le Pen will lose the second round of France's presidential election. Oh yes, they admit, she looks almost certain to make it through the first round, on April 23, but all the polls indicate that she will lose in the second round on May 7.

That sounds a lot like the certainty with which the same oracle (and all the lamestream media) predicted the election of Hellery Clinton. We know how that turned out. French sociophysicist Serge Galam knew -- in advance -- and probably made a lot of money on election bets. In his paper The Trump Phenomenon: An Explanation from Sociophysics, he wrote: "The Trump phenomenon...according to a model of opinion dynamics from sociophysics...was in principle predictable from the start."

Now Prof Galam brings his unique analytic method to the French presidential contest. In the final one-on-one match-up, he says, Marine Le Pen could well win. Why? Because the polls are missing a vitally important factor: abstention -- the act of restraining oneself from voting. Surprise, surprise! Electoral College votes for Trump!

What with all the news of deliberate attacks by persons of indeterminate ethnicity whose beliefs and motives have not yet been ascertained -- i.e. Islamic terrorists -- it was easy to overlook the fact that the electors chosen by the American people to vote for the next president of the USA met in their state capitals yesterday to do their duty.

An effort, reported here yesterday, by assorted Democrats, celebs, SJWs and other Progressive Thinkers to persuade Republican electors to abandon President-elect Donald Trump came to practically nothing. Despite noisy demonstrations outside state houses, the voting went pretty much as planned, according to tradition.

With all Republican states reporting, Mr Trump only lost the two electors in Texas. Shrillery Clinton lost four electors in Washington state. Three voted for former secretary of state Colin Powell and one voted for Native American tribal leader Faith Spotted Eagle. Several Democratic electors in other states tried to vote for protest candidates but they either changed their votes to Clinton or were replaced.

It takes 270 electoral votes to win the presidensity. With a number of states yet to report, Mr Trump has 304 votes and Mrs Bill Clinton has 169. As Nelson Muntz sez...

VIDEO: Trump and Clinton dance to the same tune

During the fourth debate in the run-up to the late election, Mrs Bill Clinton claimed that Donald Trump -- now President-elect Trump, ahem, ahem -- was Vladimir Putin's choice for the presidensity, and, if elected, would be no more than Putin's puppet. Mr Trump replied that he was "No puppet! No puppet! No puppet!"

At another point in the debate, Mr Trump said that President Putin had no respect for Shrillery and would have his way with her (figuratively speaking) if she were in the White House.

Some observers feel that it doesn't matter which of Trump or Clinton occupies the Oval Office. They will both have to dance to the tune played by... guess who??? Thanks to Agent 6 for sending us this delightful little video clip.

US to retaliate vs Russia for election "interference"? LMAO!

Heard the Prez on the rangdeedio last night -- on NPR, natch -- say that the Excited States of America would retaliate against the Russkis "at a place and time of our choosing", for such dirty tricks as allegedly releasing John Podesta's e-mails to influence Americans to vote for Trump rather than Mrs Bill Clinton.

Earlier in the day, a spokesthingy for the Obama maladministration suggested Russian President Vladimir Putin personally authorized the hacking of the Dems' e-mails in the run-up to the presidential election and said it was "fact" that hacking had helped President-elect Donald Trump's campaign. The White House also levelled an attack on Mr Trump himself, saying that it "appears" he must have known of Russia's interference. No proof was offered for any of the accusations

"At a place and time of our choosing" were Mr 0's exact words. They were the same words chosen by President Bush II to warn the A-rabs responsible for 9/11 of their impending doom, and look how that turned out! President Putin must be quaking in his boots, when he's not falling down laughing. He has said nothing, so far, but his foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, has called the allegations "laughable".

"Whitelash" only part of reason for Trump triumph

I think it's almost time to call a halt to the analysis of -- and liberal hand-wringing over -- the triumph of Donald Trump in the late presidential election. The lamestream media and "progressive" chattering classes have convinced themselves the 60 million Americans who voted for Mr Trump are all racists, and have run out of other things to say. The moaning of the snowflakes is dying down as cold weather forces them to move inside into safe spaces.

Enough reading of the entrails, then. The last you'll read of the topic here -- I hope -- will be the following precis of an article by Joseph Brean in today's National Post, headed "Theory that racist 'whitelash' was behind Trump victory ignores true reasons, experts say". I've selected just a couple of paragraphs.

According to Gil Troy, a presidential historian at McGill University, putting too much emphasis on race, to the exclusion of economic, cultural and security concerns, is precisely the same mistake that cost Hillary Clinton the White House.

"To reduce these people to racists, as so many Democrats are now doing with their 'basket of deplorables', misses a subtlety," Troy said in an interview. "Whitening Trump’s support too much plays into the identity politics which led Hillary to misread the electorate in the first place. Simply seeing it through a black and white lens misses the economic dimension, which I think Trump and Sanders understood, which is that at the core of the anger, the core of the frustration, is a sense of too much month left over at the end of the money.... I really think it starts with the economics."

The infrastructure of middle class American life has "exploded," he said, and the very same consumers who demand low cost products are, ironically, the same people who lose their jobs as industry and the market shifts accordingly. There is widespread unease about a declining culture, with compromised security and poor economic prospects, and a danger for the left is that fixating on Trump's blame-game rhetoric against immigrants or Muslims can risk minimizing those primary concerns. "I think the ugly bits (of Trump’s rhetoric) were reinforcers," Troy said. They were not the main message....

In an election between two disliked candidates, with a large number of voters lacking party affiliation, and economic factors pushing against Democrats after eight years in power, Clinton simply lost, as much from tactical error as from racist uprising. As the Columbia University political scientist Mark Lilla put it, Clinton pitched to every identity group except white people, and her failure in the vote should mark the end of "identity liberalism".

Footnote: I asked Mrs Walt yesterday if she had finalized her battle plan for Black Friday. "There is no more Black Friday," she told me. "It's not PC now. They're calling it 'Hot Friday' or 'Crazy Friday'." Unbelieving, I started listening to commercials on the boob tube, and sure enough.... Apparently this started last year. Ken Dryden explains how Hellery and the media blew the election

There are those who think of hockey players as big, dumb guys who beat each other upside the head with curved sticks. Some of them are. But some are well educated, thinking, feeling human beings. Intellectual, even. One of the latter types is Ken Dryden: lawyer, teacher, author, former member of the Canadian cabinet, and Hall of Fame NHL goaltender. [Poor Len wants it clearly understood that Mr Dryden played always and only for the Montréal Canadiens! Ed.]

Even when he was on the ice, in the middle of a game, Ken Dryden could be seen observing and thinking. This picture says it all. There he is, taking it all in, seeing the obvious and the not-so-obvious, figuring out what's going on. Like many thoughtful Canucks, Mr Dryden has spent the last couple of months pondering American politics, the events of last Tuesday and what the Trump triumph means for the Excited States of America, the Democratic Party and the lamestream media.

How could Mrs Bill Clinton, her Democratic and other supporters, and virtually all of the country's press and broadcast pundits get it all so wrong? Mr Dryden presents his analysis in a powerful op-ed piece in today's Toronto Star, headed "Clinton, media never understood Trump".

That the piece should appear in the Toronto Red Star is rather ironic, given that the Star has this year moved even more to the left than normal. It has long been a propaganda organ for the Liberal Party, and now finds itself the smug and self-righteous voice of progressivism and the fight for "social justice". Here are some other articles in its Commentary section today: "Why did women vote for Trump?"; "Canada could have its own Donald Trump" (intended as a warning); "Trump’s victory has become Obama’s legacy"; "We are really going to miss Obama"; "Prepare for the new world disorder"; and "How best to mount an anti-Trump opposition?"

What a load... But there is some gold hidden amidst the dross, in the form of Mr Dryden's article which is as unbiased as anything the Star would ever publish, clear and (IMHO) right on the money in analyzing what happened. And yes, I believe it could happen in Canada... and France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. The next 18 months or so could well see a true "people's revolution" in which the will of the people -- the real people -- is expressed and acted upon. Let us pray....

8 ways liberals can blame themselves for electing Trump

Walt was surprised, during the late campaign for the presidensity, to find that pompous pundit Andrew Coyne, who previously masqueraded as a centrist, was a liberal in disguise. Mr Coyne is frothing at the mouth, even today, angry and incredulous that Americans could have had the temerity to disregard his (and 99% of the chattering classes') endorsement of Hellery Clinton.

I trust Mr Coyne is aghast, if not apoplectic, to read, in the very same pages as his latest rant, the excellent article by Tristin Hopper in today's National Post headed ""We'd cried wolf too many times": Eight ways liberals can blame themselves for President Trump". For those too busy to read the article, Walt reproduces here, in Letterman style, the eight-fold list.

VIDEO: Ann Coulter sez ban on Muslims won the election for Trump

On Tuesday night I found myself flipping back and forth from one lamestream channel to another, not so much to see who was winning, but to see which network would have the most biased (anti-Trump) coverage. The early leader was CBS, which could see The Donald's lead in the "battleground states" building and building, but just wouldn't, couldn't bring themselves to say so.

Their excuses for not "calling it" -- projecting a Trump win -- particularly in Florida, were actually funny. Broward and Dade counties hadn't been fully counted yet because the turn-out was so high. If the margin was 0.5% or less there would be an automatic recount. Court challenges were possible. And so on, until their hand was forced by the other networks.

The worst, though, was CBC -- the Clinton Broadcasting Corporation. Well OK, really the Canadian Broadcorping Castration, which started coverage on its main network a bit late, at 9 P.M. Eastern Time. Their anchor was the venerable Peter Mansbridge, who is regarded by Canadians much as Walter Cronkite used to be by Americans. Peter's the kindly old uncle who tucks you into bed at night with a nice, warm, progressive fairy tale at the end of which the liberals triumph and everyone lives happily ever after.

On November 8th-9th, the liberal dream of eight more years of Democratic rule turned into a nightmare for the CBC's crew of Clinton shills disguised as reporters. Peter was ashen. The smug and condescending Keith Boag actually stuttered. The ever-PC "At Issue" panel had the night off. (I look forward to their "I knew it all along" routine tonight.) To replace them, CBC rang in David Frum, and for balance (LOL) a white liberal woman plus a black lesbian feminist American. Mr Frum didn't gloat. He didn't have to. He just sat there and watched the black gal get crazier and crazier, to the point where the producers wisely cut to something else.

By Wednesday night, Peter had recovered his composure and rehearsed his part of the how-come-we-missed-it routine which will be heard on all networks, American and foreign, for the next year or so. You'll get a taste of it in his interview on The National last night with well-known (even in Canada) American writer and commentator Ann Coulter. She was one of the first credible voices to say "You should have listened to me. I told you so!" She predicted a Trump victory early on, and credited the win to his ability to tap into voters' "pent-up rage for both political parties, mostly over the issue of immigration."

"There are lots of people who do not live in the United States -- billions, I believe. None of them have a constitutional right to move to America," said Ms Coulter. "We've been thinking about the poor illegal aliens and the poor Muslim refugees who aren't living in this country already, but what about the people already here? Immigration is just a government policy like any other government policy, but it's the only one that politicians, and the media, don't even think about saying, 'This should be designed to help the people who are already here.'"

Ed. here. Walt was heavily into Ma Nifkins' Jellied Gin when he sat down at the computer. He managed to type just those few letters before collapsing in a heap. I have revived him, but he is in no condition to drive, much less write. He demands to be driven to town to start collecting on his bets.
