Another "Ask someone who's lived under 'democratic socialism'"

A big shoutout from Walt [and Ed.! Ed.] to Agent 10, who is a member of the great Cuban diaspora.

Of course the Castro clan of kleptomaniacs, unlike the latest shower of "leaders" of the American Dimocrats, don't even pretend to be democratic. When you vote in November, dear American friends, don't be fooled!

Democrat "autopsy": what the doctor saw!

Warning to RINOs, liberals, independents, et alii, it's contagious!

Ed. here. Walt has not yet returned from gardening leave. Our British readers will know what I mean.

VIDEO: Victor Davis Hanson: What the DNC "autopsy" should have said

A week ago the Democratic National Committee released the post-election "autopsy" on the disastrous (for them) 2024 presidential campaign. DNC Chair Ken Martin published the 192-page report after facing intense internal pressure to release the previously-shelved document.

Before you watch the video, if you're a sucker for punishment, you might read through the full report, here: "DNC releases 2024 autopsy, with chair apologizing for 'creating an even bigger distraction’", NBC News, 21/5/26. See if you can figure out, without Victor Davis Hanson's help, what's missing.

No? You don't want to wade through 192 pages of the veriest bullshit? Well then... Mr Hanson says what's missing is any mention of the "New" Democratic Party agenda. Why? Because the Jacobin wing of the party refuses to believe that agenda is the reason why the Dimocrats lost so decisively in 2024.

They believed that a war on fossil fuels, open-border policies that let in over 10 million illegal aliens, allowing men to compete in women's sports, and the nature of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan were all great policies worth recognition. Listen up.
.

"In conclusion," says Mr Hanson, "if the autopsy wanted to be accurate, it would have done this. We lost the 2024 campaign because we had a radical agenda that reflects the Jacobin neo-socialism of the new party. For us to get elected on a national basis, we have to hide that agenda."

VIDEO: Victor Davis Hanson on hot topics of the day

Yes, again. Regular readers of WWW know Walt has a handful of favourite vloggers, but we do try not to repost too many videos by the same commentator all at once. But today's episode of the Victor Davis Hanson Show is a must-watch!

Mr Hanson and host Jack Fowler discuss the raid on John Bolton's house, the Cracker Barrel logo change, male cheerleaders in the NFL, the hot water James Comey finds himself in, and -- the best part IMHO -- how the Dimocrats got where they are. Blame it on all those Karens!

And there's a bonus! At about 1 hour 04 Mr Hanson goes off on the way certain truck drivers -- graduates of the infamous Singh School of Truck Driving -- make America's roads unsafe.

Key takeaway: "California is a dangerous place to live!"

It's not just simple "confusion"

It's not that they're confused. It's just that they've adopted (and expect all of so adopt) "Newspeak".

For those readers unfamiliar with the term, George Orwell coined that word for his dystopian novel 1984.  "Newspeak" is the fictional language of Oceania, a totalitarian superstate. To meet the ideological requirements of Ingsoc (English Socialism) in Oceania, the Party created Newspeak, which is a controlled language of simplified grammar and limited vocabulary designed to limit a person's ability for critical thinking.

Newspeak thus limits the person's ability to articulate and communicate abstract concepts, such as personal identity, self-expression, and free will, which are "thoughtcrimes" (a Newspeak word), acts of personal independence that contradict the ideological orthodoxy of the Party.

Mr Orwell wrote 1984 in 1943. By the real1984, Newspeak was well established as the language of liberal "democracy". The use of the phrase "mostly peaceful demonstrations" by the liberal commentariat to characterize race (and other) riots is a classic example of how the lickspittle media substitute their "truth" for reality to make the masses believe that "black" is "white", and truly white.

Formerly prominent rat deserts sinking Democratic Party ship

You remember Karine Jean-Pierre, don'tcha? I must admit that when she started appearing on the idiot's lantern I got her confused with a popular character from British children's literature when I was a kid [before the earth's crust cooled. Ed.]

The character, known as a "golliwog", is on the left. That's Ms Jean-Pierre, the first black openly gay person to hold the post of White House Press Secretary, on the right.

Ms Jean-Pierre was an obvious DEI hire, which the Dimocrats can admit now that she's long gone. According to Axios, they have now "gone scorched earth" on the lady (?) who played Edgar Bergen to Senile Joe's Charlie McCarthy.

One former White House official who worked closely with Jean-Pierre told Axios that she "was one of the most ineffectual and unprepared people I've ever worked with.... She had meltdowns after any interview that asked about a topic not sent over by producers.... She didn't know how to manage a team, didn't know how to shape or deliver a message, and often created more problems than she solved."

A former Biden communications official threw more wood on the fire: "The hubris of thinking you can position yourself as an outsider when you not only have enjoyed the perks of extreme proximity to power — which ... bestows the name recognition needed to sell books off your name — but have actively wielded it from the biggest pulpit there is, is as breathtaking as it is desperate ... It's difficult to see how this is anything but a bizarre cash grab."

Another former White House official familiar with the dynamics told Axios: "The amount of time that was spent coddling [Jean-Pierre] and appeasing her was astronomical compared to our attention on actual matters of substance."

What's all this about a new book (Walt hears you ask)? Does it have anything to do with Ms Jean-Pierre's decision, announced yesterday, to tear up her Democratic Party card and become a registered Independent?

Why yes, it does! In her book Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, due for release in October, the formerly loyal Dumbocrat tells anyone who cares to read the eye-splitter "why Americans must step beyond party lines to embrace life as Independents," Cazart! Who could have seen that coming?

In a summary of the book released yesterday, publisher Hachette Book Group says "Jean-Pierre didn’t come to her decision to be an Independent lightly.... She takes us through the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision."

Don't rush right out to get your copy. The book is slated for release on October 21st, and should be available in remainder bins across the country by October 23rd.

Victor Davis Hanson: California's collapsing Blue-State Democrat model

Towards the end of last week, in "California pols: Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, and now... Mel Gibson?" Walt marvelled that Hock Ptui is the leading contender to move into the California state house. It's just another sign, IMHO, that the Golden State is beyond redemption -- truly an exemplar of the "failed state".

Today, our old friend Victor Davis Hanson takes up that theme in "California and Its Collapsing Blue-State Democratic Model", on the American Greatness site. Secondary headline: California’s high taxes, crime, and regulations are driving an exodus, shifting political power to red states as the once-prosperous blue-state model collapses under economic and social strain. I've selected a handful of key excerpts but suggest you click on the link to read the entire article for yourself.

While the media and the new Democrat Party grow hysterical over the Trump counter-revolution, they are missing some of the most revolutionary and insidious changes in American society of the last century. Much has been written about the collapse of the old orthodox Democratic Party, along with the growing irrelevance and dysfunction of the legacy media, elite universities, and state and federal agencies. But their growing unattractiveness is all related and was not just the result of top-down development.

Rather, current Democrat Party radicalism, street theater, and violence were merely reflections of its own preexisting cultural antipathy toward the middle class. The party is now a pyramidal coalition of the very wealthy and professional classes comprising the capstone, resting atop a vast, expanding bottom of the subsidized and working poor, strapped pensioners and retirees, angry indebted students, 30s-something urban wannabees, impoverished immigrants—including perhaps 30 million here illegally—and, increasingly, trapped residents of a dystopian big-city America.

That, in Mr Hanson's words, is what Thomas Franks was saying in Listen, Liberal!, reviewed here earlier this month. Mr Franks predicted the downfall of the new woke Dimocratic Party, which (with a slight pause) played out in just the way Mr Hanson is now analyzing.

We are witnessing the greatest internal migration in U.S. history since the post-Civil War era. Millions are leaving California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Illinois, and other northern blue states. And they usually head to Florida, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, and other red, low- or no-tax states. So large have become the dislocations that conservative red states will in the next decade grab some 10-12 congressional seats away from liberal blue states along with some 10 or so votes in the electoral college.

We also may be witnessing soon the de facto implosion of a once affluent California—its growing poverty already visible in its decaying roads and infrastructure, dangerous and substandard public schools, soaring property crime, overcrowded, dysfunctional, and dangerous health care system, ethnic fragmentation, and the general bankruptcy and medievalism of San Francisco and Los Angeles.

In the current conundrum, we have forgotten completely the old themes of a blue-state Democrat Party. The 1996 Democratic National Convention manifesto that spearheaded Bill Clinton’s successful reelection emphasized secure borders, legal-only immigration, tough crime enforcement and punishment, balanced budgets, fiscal responsibility, and “personal accountability.”

That agenda today in California would condemn any adherent as a racist, xenophobe, or MAGA fanatic. In its place, the party became more intolerant, narrower in its cultural emphases, and uninterested in existential crises such as housing, secure borders, power generation, infrastructure, and crime.

Without answers or correctives to the damage it inflicted, it instead focused on what was largely seen as irrelevant to the state’s struggling minority populations—LGBT advocacies, transgendered men competing in women’s sports, racial reparations, DEI-mandated programs, and boutique environmentalism.

In addition, the growing dysfunction and irrelevance of the mainstream media—from network news to the old print conglomerates—of elite universities and of the federal government itself are, in part, due to their location in and symbiosis with the dead-end, blue-state model of culture, economics, and politics. In sum, America is entering a historic reversal. [The emphasis is Walt's.]

Book Review: "Listen. Liberal!" by Thomas Franks

"Modern liberalism in action: an unregulated virtue-exchange in which representative of one class of humanity [the elites] ritually forgive the sins of another class [the rest of us], all of it conened and facilitated by a vast army of well-graduated American professionals, their reassuring expertised propped up by bogus social science, while the unfortunately object of their high and noble compassion sink slowloy back into a preindustrial state."

Except for Walt's interpolations, that was written in "Listen, Liberal!" by Thomas Franks, a certified liberal who used to write for The Wall Street Journal and Harper's. After almost eight year's of the Obama presidensity, Mr Franks gave up on the Prez's "politics of hope".

He discovered that the US of A was being run, not by classical liberals fighting for the betterment of the common man, but by a class of progessional elites and technocratic experts, who have what Mr Franks calls "social authority".

"Although we [the 'common' people] are the subjects are the subjects of ptheir[ diagnoses and prescriptions," he writes, "the group to which professionals ultimately answer is not the public but their peers.... They listen mainly to one another. The professions are autonomous; they are not required to heed voices from below their circle of expertise."

Mr Franks points out that the Democrats have done little to advance traditional liberal goals. They occupied the White house for 16 of the 24 years (to 2015, the date of his writing), and yet the decline of the middle class has only accelerated. Corpoorate and cultural elitism eclipsed the Democrats' supposed middle-class commitment.

That's why, in "Listen, Liberal!", he calls the Democrats back to their historic goals, and predicts that unless they returned to the politics of the man in the street, they would lose the 2016 election. Which they did. And because they learned no lessons from their defeat, they would have lost the 2020 election had it not been rigged in the greatest political theft in American history.

But the Dimocrats didn't learn anything from their stolen victory. If anything, their policies got worse under the Prez's hand-picked and ill-fated successor. Elitism morphed into wokeism, leaving ordinary Americans in last place behind not just the elites but all the special interest groups the Dims pandered to in the name of diversity, equity and inclusion, hoping that the DEI types would keep them in power.

The party of Mr and Mrs Clintons, Mr and Mrs Obama, Mr and "Dr" Biden, and Ms Harris and some white man, is now agonizing over its dim (geddit?) prospects for the future. Those who take helm of the presently rudderless ship would do well to read "Listen, Liberal!"... twice! And repeat if necessary.

Note to Canadian Liberals: The same happened to the Liberal Party of Canada, in spades, under the leadership of Blackie McBlackface, the heroic advocate of wokeism who is due to resign this month to avoid having the imprint of a big real Canadian boot etched permanently on his derrière.

Only a fool... or a Trudeau Liberal... could fail to see the parallels with the fate of Obama, who, by the way, publicly endorsed Trudeau in the greatest liberal bromance of recent years.

Walt's one-and-only copy of this excellent book, gently used, autographed on request, is available on eBid.

VIDEO: which party is stoking the fires of political violence?

The Cackler, Senile Joe, and every other Dimocrat in sight are pissing and moaning about the rising level of political violence in the US of A. They blame President Trump -- the one who's being targeted, literally, for assassination. As Elon Musk said, it's funny you don't see anyone taking potshots at Kamala Harris or President Brandon.

The best comment I've been seen on the latest attempt to wax the Once and Future POTUS was posted on the Babylon Bee (of course) yesterday. Headline: "Democrats Accuse Trump Of Inciting Further Violence By Not Dying".

Who's really inciting the violence? Who really hates the Donald, J.D. Vance and all the other white male politicians? The Trump Campaign has just dropped this ad of Dimocrat leaders calling for... well, you be the judge.

If you didn't open the video yet, here's what you're missing. The ad starts with Hock Ptui "joking" about killing Trump in an elevator. It also shows Madonna, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Mrs William Clinton, Maxine Waters, and other haters.

Yesterday, President Trump lashed out against Dumbocrats for their rhetoric in a TRUTH post. "Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse!"

"Kamala Harris has no flavor"

So says Rich Lowry, Editor-in-chief of the National Review, in "Kamala Harris Is Wafer Thin", 21/8/24. Absent permission to repost the entire article, we hope Mr Lowry won't mind us quoting these key passages.

It is appropriate that Kamala Harris is from the town of Oakland, Calif., of which it was famously said there was no there there.

It is hard to think of another presidential nominee who has felt so utterly superficial — not as a campaign tactic, but as a reality. She has no flavor.

She’s woke but doesn’t embrace being woke; her policies are socialistic although she’s not a self-declared socialist; she’s a tough law-and-order prosecutor, except when she’s not.

She’s not a party institutionalist like Bob Dole, finally rewarded with his party’s nomination after decades of service, or a “maverick” like John McCain, who, after years being in the wilderness, finally won over his party (temporarily).

Of course, she’s not a Bill Clinton, who rose from relative obscurity based on his unbelievable verbal acuity, charm, and shamelessness that could see him through any fix or scandal.

No, Kamala Harris feels thin, fragile, and manufactured. The Democrats and their media allies have had the unity and discipline, so far, to pull off a feat that few would dare attempt: to topple a sitting president and create a political phenomenon out of the thinnest of reeds.

Back in the daze, Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau (no relation) used to depict President Bush  as an askterisk * with nothing behind it.
Walt thinks that would be highly appropriate for the Cackler.

Note from Ed.: In fairness to Mr Lowry and the National Review, I should point out that the meme above did not accompany the article. And the photo below, taken at the DNC, isn't really to Mr Lowry's point, but is very à propos the whole Dumbocrat campaign.

Do they take the American people for fools? [Errr... could be. Walt]

VIDEO: "This is it! This is the one they'll remember!"

Just before the Big Boy Presser started, Senile Joe appeared for a bit of mutual admiration with... well, watch the introduction,

During the exchange that followed, President Brandon did his now-customary "Number 1, Number 2" shtick, reading slowly from notes to help him keep the numbers in the correct order. But the damage was done.

In a statement to Fox News, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) said."This is the person who has first-strike capabilities with our nuclear arsenal. We are continuing to send a powerfully dangerous signal to our adversaries that the commander-in-chief is not in control of his faculties. The emperor has no clothes, and if he won’t step aside other senior leaders in the Democratic Party need to stand up and make him – for the security of our nation."

"Democrat messaging is full of shit", sez Democrat James Carville

According to Wikipedia, C. James Carville Jr. -- the "C" is for "Chester", not "Crazy" -- is an American political consultant, author, and occasional actor who has strategized for candidates for public office in the United States and abroad. He is a certified liberal and a registered Democrat.

Mr Carville is redeemed (in Walt's eyes) by the fact that every now and then he tells Democrats that their emperor -- Slick Willy, the Prez, or Demented Joe, it doesn't matter -- has no clothes.

This weekend, Mr Carville went on an extended rant on Politicon. WARNING: We haven't embedded the video because of Mr C's Very Strong Language. Click on the link to hear the craziness yourself. Although Brother Carville sounds like the angry grandpa from South Park, he's trying to tell Dumbocrats some stone truths.

In the "wut?" part of his message, starting at 6:15, Mr Carville says Democrats are losing younger voters and black voters because they are ignoring the economy. "The generational thievery that has occurred in this country is criminality of the first order.

"We keep wondering why these young people are not coming home to the Democrats. Why are blacks not coming home to the Democrats? Because Democrat messaging is full of shit, that’s why.

"And talk about cost of living, and we’re going to help deal with this. Don’t talk about fucking Gaza and student loans. That is so out. Why are we forgiving student loans for people that go to Harvard? Which, according to Scott Galloway, quite accurately, is nothing but a hedge fund that has classrooms. Well, they got a $52 billion fucking surplus.

"Why are taxpayers going to bail these people out? Why don’t you come out with a proposal to tax every university with an endowment of over $5 billion and use that money to give their former students relief?

"We all know where where we are. We all know the position we are in. We all know what the polls say. We all know how old President Biden is. Quit fucking arguing what’s in front of your face and start laying something out."

Sounds to me like Mr Carville has a pretty good grip on the reality of the policies of the Democratic Party today. Will the Dumbocrats listen to him in time to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat? Not bloody likely! Lifetime pct .989.

It also sounds to me as if Mr Carville has read -- and taken to heart -- Listen, Liberal, a brilliant but obscure book by Thomas Frank (Henry Holt & Co., 2016), which Walt recommended in "Stumbling towards the decline and fall of the USA", WWW 23/5/24. The Democrats didn't pay attention to Mr Frank in 2016, so why would they do so to Mr Carville now? Is a puzzlement.

Stumbling towards the decline and fall of the USA

What (Walt hears you ask) is The United States Department of Defense's Office of Net Assessment (ONA), and why do we need (and pay for) one? Well sir... The ONA was created 51 years ago by Richard Nixon to serve as an "internal think tank" for the Pentagon. Aided by outside contractors, it's supposed to look into the future of the military -- kind of like a khaki crystal ball -- and produces report [prophecies? Ed.] on the results of its research.

"Do we really need this?" Walt hears you ask. The official answer is that it is important to have a good grasp of net assessment because it is an "important part of the language spoken by leaders in the higher levels of DOD" and officers who lack familiarity "will be at a disadvantage in communicating with the civilian leadership." Got it now?

No? Does it help for me to tell  you the Director of the ONA is one James H. Baker, who has held that position since 2015, serving under the Prez, then No. 45, and now Senile Joe? One of the "ourside organizations" who assist the ONA is the Rand Corporation. Understand now? We're talking Deep State here!

According to a report prepared for the Office of Net Assessment by the Rand Corporation, the future of the Paranoid States of America isn't so bright. "The Sources of Renewed National Dynamism" looks at the US competitive position as it faces a rising China, and finds that America is stumbling towards a decline from which few great powers ever recover.

The US of A is diminishing in power on a relative basis geopolitically, militarily, financially, economically, and technologically. Competitive pressures from within include slowing productivity growth, an aging population, a polarized political system [No kidding? Ed.] and a "corrupted information environment". Does that mean (Walt wonders) that someone is lying to us? Who could it be?

These problems are exacerbated by an addiction to luxury, failure to keep pace with technology, an ossified bureaucracy, an overstretched military and "self-interested and warring elites." Again... who are they talking about? A clue may be found in Listen, Liberal, a brilliant but obscure book by Thomas Frank (Henry Holt & Co., 2016), which Walt recommends highly.

The title is misleading. It's not a rant by an Alex Jones type, but a stinging criticism by a certified liberal of the Democratic Party, the "professional elites" and the corporate and cultural elitism, which dominates liberal politics and is responsible for the ever-deepening rift between the rich and poor in America and elsewhere.

The ONA report concludes that unless Americans can unite to identify and fix the problems it outlines, the US of A risks falling into the same downward spiral that resulted in the fall of the Roman, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires.

Is it too late to reverse the decline? Is it too late to make America great again? You be the judge... on November 5th!

Excerpt from Listen Liberal (cited above):
Popular attitudes toward the professions started to sour in the 1970s. "Technocracy" was the new term for describing the reign of professionalism, and its connotations were almost entirely negative.

Rule-by-expert, it began to seem, excluded rule-by-the people. It was dehumanizing and mechanical. In a technocracy, the important policy decisions were made in faraway offices that were insulated from the larger whirl of society. The people making the decisions identified far more with society's rulers than they did with the ruled, and their decisions often completely ignored public concerns.

Busing was one of the era's classic examples of failed technocratic overreach; another was the Vietnam War, a catastrophic intervention in which tens of thousands of working-classs Americans were sent to their deaths...largely because foreign-policy professionals in Washington were unwilling to listen to voices from outside their discipline, bearing uncomfortable views.

Diversity hire: Did she get her job the same way Camela Harris did?

Wikipedia sez: Karine Jean-Pierre (born August 13, 1974) is an American political advisor who has served as the White House press secretary since May 13, 2022. She is the first black person and the first openly LGBT person to serve in the position.

Wikipedia doesn't say that she's a French citizen by birth (in Martinique) and a Democrat. It also doesn't say whether she's L or G or B or T or all of the above. Too bad she's not a Jew with a disability. Then she'd have the Superfecta!

Formerly "Demented Joe", now "DESPERATE Joe"

President Brandon must be desperately trying to stave off the electoral disaster into which he's leading (?) his party. Could there be any other reason for enlisting election denier Hillary Clinton  to build infrastructure, raise money, and mobilize voters for his election campaign?

Breitbart News calls Hellery "a twice-failed presidential candidate [and] a longtime election denier:" Why do they say that?

* 2016: Claimed the Supreme Court “took away a presidency” in Bush v. Gore
* 2017: Alleged she would not “rule out” questioning the legitimacy of the 2016 election.
* 2020: Claimed the 2016 presidential election was not conducted legitimately, saying, “We still don’t really know what happened.”
* 2020: Claimed Stacey Abrams “would have won” Georgia’s gubernatorial race “if she had a fair election” and that Stacey Abrams “should be governor” but was “deprived of the votes [she] otherwise would have gotten.”

They quote NBCs as saying "People close to Hillary Clinton anticipate she’ll be a tireless campaigner for the Biden campaign, rallying Democratic voters by laying out the stakes and explaining why a Trump victory could subvert America’s democratic norms. [Seriously? Walt]

"She is also well positioned to caution voters that if they support a third-party candidate, they may cut into Biden’s margin and flip the election to Trump, Democratic strategists said. Clinton’s role is only expected to grow in the new year, but for now, she is filling a space that at a later point in the campaign season former President Barack Obama will join." [SERIOUSLY? Walt]

FiveThirtyEight polling shows Crooked Joe is the least popular president in modern US history, with a -18 approval rating. No wonder many Democrats asked him not to run for re-election. But he says he has to do it. Why? Because if he doesn't, the Democratic candidate for president is likely to be... wait for it... Mrs Bill Clinton. Yikes!

Less than a year away from disaster, what will the Democrats do?

I guess by now you've all seen the video of President Brandon appearing to get lost while laying a wreath at a Veterans Day ceremony on Friday. If not, you can see it, along with some comment from Sky News Australia's "The Sunday Showdown", here.

The Democrats have a problem -- an incumbent President who is eligible for a second term, potentially even worse than the first.

Still, Senile Joe insists that's he's going to seek re-election, notwithstanding that every poll and virtually every pundit predicts that he'll get thrashed.

The Democrats who are not Dumbocrats know this. Behind close doors, even those who are in thrall to the Deep State, expressing their confidence in Senile Joe's ability (and sanity), are wracking their alleged brains to find a way to dump him, while there's still time to nominate someone with a chance, however slim, of pulling their nuts out of the fire... so to speak.

Further reading: "Lefties beg Brandon 'Don't run, Joe!'", WWW 13/7/22. And yes, they've been casting about for alternatives since before the could've-been-worse results of  the mid-terms. The pleas to leave are much louder now, for it's certain that when Brandon drowns in the Trump tsunami, he'll take others -- Denocratic governors, Democratic senators, and Democratic Congresspersons -- with him. Walt predicts that the 2024 elections could result in a Republican double majority which would last for at least eight years. (Lifetime pct .988.)

What to do, then? How about if Brandon retires now "to spend more time with his family" (possibly in a federal facility of the barred kind)?

That would give the lovely and fragrant Kamala Harris -- America's first almost-black female vice-president -- almost a year to climb out of the deep hole in the approval ratings into which she's dug herself. If you don't recall how she managed it, check out the VIDEO in "If Brandon dies, this woman would become President", WWW 2/5/23.

Maybe not such a good idea when it comes to electability. Some people still feel sorry for Poor Old Joe, and believe the mess he's in was made by the Boy. But when it comes to Ms Harris, people just laugh.

But hang on! Walt thought of a solution, the latest in a long line of brilliant but under-appreciated ideas. See "How Brandon can get rid of the Three Witches", WWW 18/8/23. In a nutshell [? Ed.], Senator Dianne Feinstein (the eldest witch) would retire, then Camela would resign and Gavin Newsom would appoint her to serve out the rest of Not-so-Feinstein's term.

Are you still with me? Ms Harris's resignation would leave the Veep position open, so Crooked Joe could appoint Crooked Hellery Clinton to the position, which would be a springboard to a third try for the presidensity after Brandon steps down at the end of this year, as predicted by my goodself last January

It was a fine plan, IMHO, which Gavin Newsom screwed up by appointing Laphonza Butler as the new senator from California after Ms Feinstein obligingly died. The Fonz's only qualifications for office seem to be that she is (a) black, (b) a woman, (c) a Democrat and (d) President of EMILY's List, a fundraising juggernaut that works to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights. How California is that!

Why would Governor Newsom make an appointment which offers no support whatever to the Democrats' 2024 campaign? Surely it has nothing to do with Mr Newsom's own presidential ambitions. His name was mentioned when the Dumbocrats were beating the bullrushes for a candidate in 2020, but he chickened out. My guess is he intends to sit idly by while the Dems implode, in order to present himself after a decent interval as the right man to lead the Party as it "builds back better". Dream on, Gavin, dream  on.

Democrat-run cities - the vision and the reality

What kind of city do you want to live in? Either move... of vote the Dumbocrats out, next chance you get. Same logic applies to states and, dare we say it, the entire US of A. Not sure about that? Look around you.
