Staying with American politics, out old (but not aged!) friend Mark Steyn appeared earlier this week on Tucker Carlson tonight to give his thoughts on the latest developments in the Democrats' contest to see who gets to lose to Still-President Trump.
Mr Steyn is not an "ageist", he says. He loves old people! (It warms the cockles of Walt's heart to hear that. If my cockles get too warm I'll rub them with ice.) But, he says, the appearance of being in the early stages of senile dementia is not helping Joe Biden's campaign. Every time the former Veep opens his mouth, he gives more credence to the allegations of his opponents that he's Yesterday's Man. So, Mr Steyn avers, he's not likely to make it through the early primaries. Listen up.

VIDEO: Tim Ryan (D-OH) predicts Dems could lose 48 states in 2020
Jim Dandee writes from Zyzx Springs CA (you can look it up) "Do you really think that whatever's going on north of the 49th parallel is more important than the competition to see who can lead the Democrats over the cliff? What are you, some kind of Canuck lover?" OK, Jim, I am well chastised. No more stuff about Max Bernier or the People's Party of Canada until after Labour Day.
To swing the spotlight back onto American politics, Walt is pleased to present a very short video clip from this morning's broadcast of MSNBC's generally execrable Morning Joe. Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH), who inexplicably wants to be the Democratic presidential candidate in 2020, appeared to be quizzed by Joe Scarborough, "Reverend" Al Sharpton (and others). In the very last minute of the interview, Rep. Ryan warned that some of the top candidates in the 2020 Democratic field "have taken positions that will lose 48 states". Those positions, he said, include ffree health care for illegal immigrants, decriminalizing border crossings, and abolishing private health insurance. Check it out.
I would have sworn that I heard Congressman Ryan Al Sharpton "Rabbi", which is pretty funny when you consider Mr Sharpton's long history of anti-Semitic statements and rhetoric. Anyway, in case you didn't hear him clearly, here's Breitbart's transcript of what he said after that blooper.
"I think some of the lead candidates have taken positions that will lose 48 states, and I'm trying to figure out what the two are we're going to win. I mean, if you're talking about free health care for undocumented workers, and the average person in some of these states that we have to win are busting their rear end to provide health care for their own families and paying a lot of money for it.
"I think decriminalizing at the border is a mistake. If you want to come into the country, you'e got to ring the doorbell and it should be a crime to just try to walk into the United States.
"I think the single-payer idea of telling people they can't have their private health insurance, you're going to go to all these union people in the industrial Midwest and tell them they've negotiated away wages to get really good health care, and you're going to tell them we're going to take that health care from you because we've got a better idea in Washington, DC? I think that’s a mistake."
Mr Ryan's voice will not be heard in the Democratic candidate wannabes debate next month, since he has failed to jump over the very low bar of 1% in the polls. So, farewell then, Tim, and let no-one say that the Democrats weren't warned!

VIDEO: Trudeau's Canada "a disaster", sez "Shark Tank"'s O'Leary
Apologies to our American readers (the majority, on any given day) for posting so much on Canadian politics. But hey, Canuckistan's federal election is less than two months away (15 months for the US election), and I would hate to see those dear frost-backed people make the same mistake twice!
Since the Canadian establishment -- the mainstream parties and lamestream media -- are doing their utmost to silence the anti-establishment voices of Maxime Bernier and the People's Party of Canada, I think it's important to provide a channel for them and other voices to express contrary opinions. Here we have a short(ish) video of a Kitco News interview with Kevin O'Leary, star of Shark Tank. Mr O'Leary is a Canadian by birth and still spends much of his time in the Great No-longer-white North.
In this interview he voices his dismay at the mess the Canadian economy is in, thanks to the ineptitude (or worse) of the Liberal government of Just In Trudeau. He says that Canada's future hinges on putting someone, anyone in office instead of Mr Socks. "The country is a disaster," says Mr O'Leary, noting that another four years of the same leadership would cut the growth rate to zero. Anybody else would be better than M Trudeau, he says, predicting that he (Trudeau) will be gone come October 22nd. Let's hope so!
Footnote submitted by Agent 6 (PBUH): The car in front of me had a bumper sticker on it, which said: "Pray for Justin Trudeau: Psalm 109:8"
When I got home I opened my Bible (KJV) to the scripture and as I read, I started laughing. Psalm 109:8 says "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

VIDEO: PPC Candidates discuss globalism, Islamism, and immigration
Canuckistan's federal election is less than two months away. The No. 1 issue at the ballot box is likely to be immigration. But, as noted in "Canada's 'independent' Debate Commission shuts out Max Bernier", no-one except Maxime Bernier and the People's Party of Canada wants to talk about it.
No-one. The leaders of the two major parties (Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber) don't want to talk about it. Neither do the leaders of the two minor parties. Nor do the (((controlled media))) and the liberal commentariat. Why? Because all of them are agreed that unfettered mass migration and open borders -- come one, come all! -- are good for Canada! That's the official multi-party line, the political orthodoxy which is not to be challenged. Period.
Only the People's Party of Canada offers a realistic alternative to the mass migration espoused by all the others. See "Max Bernier's PPC policy on immigration, in point form", WWW 25/7/19. But will the Canadian people get to hear about it? Not if the usual suspects (named above) have their way. That's why Maxime Bernier is not being allowed to participate in any of the televised leaders' debates. That's why pro-PPC anti-mass-immigration billboards have been torn down. See "PC police force takedown of pro-PPC anti-immigration billboards", WWW 26/8/19.
The People's Party of Canada, its leader and its supporters are being vilifed in the lamestream media as racists, Islamophobes, white nationalists, yada yada yada, for daring to suggest that the No-longer-great White North's immigration policies need a rethink. And your average Canuck doesn't know enough about the PPC and its policies to challenge those slurs, because the PPC is being so effectively deplatformed.
So... as a service to the Canadian public... Walt is sharing this video of five of the alleged racists etc etc talking about immigration, Islamism and globalism. This was recorded at the PPC convention in Gatineau QC on the evening of August 17th. Mark Friesen, Frank Vaughan, David Haskell, Laura Lynn Thompson, and Ivan Pak are not just reciting talking points from the party platform. They are giving their own opinions, exercising their right to speak out and put these issues on the table for discussion. They and their leader should be heard.

VIDEO: "DEMageddon" -- The Epic Tale of the 2016 Election
Got a tip (via Dr Rich Swier) from Carpe Donktum, the creator of DEMageddon, that, after a year in YouTube purgatory, his epic Meme Movie DEMageddon is now available again. Here `tis.
Censorship warning from Ed.: Speaking of YouTube purgatory, an alert reader has just advised us that the Masters of the Universe have deleted the video of Dr Taylor Marshall and Faith Goldy talking about the infiltration of the Catholic Church by secular humanists and other enemies of the True Faith. For that reason, our post of 14/6/19 is no longer "Featured" in the sidebar at the right. However, you should still be able to find it, and lots more worthwhile videos and articles on Dr Marshall's website, Taylor Marshall: Stay Salty My Friends. Walt recommends it highly.

Follow-up: "no mass immigration" signs torn down, censorship complete
To bring you up to date on the campaign of the Canadian left and the "progressive" commentariat to shut down any and all debate on the Trudeau Liberal's immigration policies, Walt can report that all of the anti-immigration billboards erected in cities across Canada -- see "PC police force takedown of pro-PPC anti-immigration billboards" -- were torn down yesterday.
The owners of the billboards, Pattison Outdoor Advertising, who had rented the space because that's how they build the empire of Canadian business magnut and philanthropist Jimmy Pattison, caved to pressure from the enforcers of diversity and inclusion, and cancelled the contracts, after first telling the pro-immigration whiners "Nothing to do with us. Take it up with the People's Party, or True North Strong and Free Advertising Corp. It's their ad!"
Apparently that's what the multiculti advocates did. After being on the wrong end of a barrage of phone calls, e-mails, texts, tweets etc etc, True North folded like a cheap accordion, and sought to distance itself from the message, saying it never signed off on the campaign. "We completely disavow any sympathy with or support for the views expressed by donors who paid for and selected the content of their advertising, which we were mistakenly not afforded an opportunity to first approve," Frank Smeenk, the head of True North Strong & Free Advertising Corp., wrote in an email to The Canadian Press on Monday.
So True North just bought the space, eh. Had no idea what the ads were going to say? Had no hand in designing and printing them? Who's running True North? The three wise monkeys? Walt wonders if Mr Smeenk knows the old line, "Don't shoot me! I'm only the piano player!"
For his part, People's Party leader Maxime Bernier said at his national campaign launch on Sunday that, although the PPC did not place or pay for the signs, he agrees with the message. On Monday, he called Pattison's decision to take the billboards an act of censorship. "The message on the billboard is not controversial for two-thirds of Canadians who agree with it, and for those who disagree but support free speech and an open discussion," he tweeted. "It's only controversial for the totalitarian leftist mob who want to censor it."

It didn’t say anything for or against ethnic diversity, which Bernier has praised in the past while objecting to its elevation to cult status. It didn’t propose throwing anybody out of Canada. It is a plea against a long-standing policy of mass immigration."
"Bernier billboards shouldn't have come down based on mob rule", by Brian Lilley, in the Toronto Sun, 27/8/19. Excerpt: "This week we are supposed to be outraged that billboards went up across the country in support of Maxime Bernier’s position on immigration. The fact that these billboards are now coming down is a reason for us to applaud a progressive company I’m told. Okay, I don’t get it. Either we believe in free speech and open political debate or we don’t."

Could it be that they know that uncontrolled immigration is going to be the big ballot issue in the upcoming election? And that Canucks who are sick, sore and tired of "welcoming" 1000s of third-world "refugees" will vote for the only party taking a stand against it? That would be the People's Party, and only the People's Party.

PC police force takedown of pro-PPC anti-immigration billboards
Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, blames a "totalitarian leftist mob" for the decision of an advertising company owned by one of Canada's richest men to take down billboards promoting his party's "controversial" stance on immigration.
Opening the PPC's campaign for October's federal election in his home riding of Beauce yesterday, M Bernier complained of censorship after Pattison Outdoor Advertising, which rented the billboard space to a third party, "True North Strong and Free Advertising Corp., said it would remove the ads in response to "an outpouring of criticism".
There was indeed an "outpouring of criticism", orchestrated and reported by... wait for it... the CBC, who managed to find an immigrant from... wait for it... Iran who found one of the billboards, which appeared in Halifax, offensive. Pattison Outdoor Advertising originally said that if anyone had an issue with the content, they should contact the third-party group, but yesterday the company changed course, saying it never meant to offend or alienate anyone and that the ads would come down.
M Bernier says, rightly, that his political opponents and the "leftist mob" want to stifle discussion of immigration and keep him out of the election debates scheduled for the 7th and 10th of October. 1000s of fair-minded commenters on the CBC News report of Pattison's decision to take down the signs agree that censorship of the PPC's anti-immigration stance is the real reason why the liberal elites in the other political parties and the (((controlled media))) are pulling out all the stops to keep "Mad Max" out of the Leader's Debates. See "Canada's "independent" Debate Commission shuts out Max Bernier", WWW 12/8/19.
M Bernier has said that the number of immigrants accepted by Canada every year -- 350,000 -- is way too high. His party platform says the flood of immigrants inflates housing prices, and that other political parties use mass immigration as a tool to buy votes from immigrant communities. For a summary of the PPC policy, see "Max Bernier's PPC policy on immigration, in point form", WWW 25/7/19.
Yesterday M. Bernier tweeted: The message on the billboard is not “controversial” for two thirds of Canadians who agree with it, and for those who disagree but support free speech and an open discussion. It’s only controversial for the totalitarian leftist mob who want to censor it.

Shock report! Yahoo Canada readers don't trust Trudeau!
Yahoo Canada, like its parent, is a news "aggregator", meaning its landing page "news" stories are just scraped from or links to posts that have appeared elsewhere. It does not originate articles. Well, almost never. A week ago a Yahoo writer named Elisabetta Bianchini posted the following item to Yahoo Canada News. Since it's mostly quotes from readers, Walt thinks Yahoo won't mind our reposting it, verbatim.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continues to face harsh criticism following the release of a report from the ethics commissioner, Mario Dion, stating that he did in fact try to influence Jody Wilson-Raybould in the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.
On Monday, Conservative leader Andrew Scheer announced that he has requested the RCMP further investigate whether Trudeau obstructed justice, contrary to section 139 of the Criminal Code. "The lengths through which the PMO went to get its way in the SNC trial, as revealed by the ethics commissioner, are truly breathtaking," Scheer told reporters in St. Catharines. "We know that Justin Trudeau has [broken] the law. Now we need to know if he has committed a crime."
Last week, Yahoo Canada asked readers whether they believe Trudeau is a trustworthy prime minister following the release of the ethics commissioner’s report. Of the 32,949 responses, 75% do not believe the prime minister is trustworthy. Readers took to the comments to share their thoughts.
“It is unfortunate that we as Canadians found ourselves in this situation and Justin Trudeau's response to the outcome of the ethics commissioner's report is not helping either.”
“Yes I am reluctantly saying I trust him. I am however HUGELY disappointed in his actions even if he thought it was for ‘the greater good.’ I believe this will cost him dearly.”
“I voted NO to trusting this Liberal government. But in all honestly I've not seen a party in office in a very long time that is trust worthy.”
“Never trusted him in the first place, but honestly, I didn't expect him to be this bad.”
“As a life long Liberal who has worked in Liberal headquarters, I am embarrassed by the current Prime Minister. He is unethical, spiteful, wasteful, arrogant and deceitful.”
According to the latest survey from Campaign Research, with 2365 Canadians polled between Aug. 9 to 13, the Conservative party has a marginal 1% lead over Trudeau’s Liberal party. Canadians continue to share their thoughts on the SNC-Lavalin scandal and the ethics commissioner's report on social media as we move closer to federal election day in October.

VIDEO: South African woman shoots at home invaders
There are millions of videos on YouTube. You could keep your eyeballs glued to your screen 24/7 and you'd never see them all. In fact, every hour you watched, you'd get farther behind. So you'll excuse me for being a bit late to see and repost this interesting video from the "new" South Africa, originally uploaded in May of 2015. The subtitles added by Mr Coetzee tell you all you need to know about what went down.
In the USA, Canada or western Europe, the Coetzees would likely be facing charges for shooting at these poor disadvantaged yoofs. But not in South Africa. That country's new post-apartheid constitution has no Second Amendment, nor anything resembling it. Yet no-one questions the necessity of keeping... and sometimes using... firearms to protect their homes and themselves. They have to do so, for incidents such as this are all too common. Thank goodness it hasn't come to that in our countries. Right? Errr...
Footnote: Every now and then you'll see, somewhere in the liberal media, an argument that "white flees" from South Africa should not be allowed to immigrate to the countries of the West. They might infect us with their racism, you know...
Further viewing: A different turn of events in King County WA can be heard in "Actual 911 call of home invasion shows why everyone must be prepared to defend themselves", posted to YouTube just three months ago. You don't need me to explain the moral of this story, do you? Keep it in mind next time someone disses the NRA.

It's an old joke, and all too true 99% of a time. But every now and then someone running for office has the gonads to place himself in the line of fire by getting up on his hind feet and telling the truth, simply and forcefully.
That's what Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) did yesterday, when his campaign released a 3-second TV ad asserting (among other things) that there are only two genders. "As a doctor", he says, he should know! Check this out.
Telling that stone truth puts Dr Abrahams at odds with the prevailing political orthodoxy, and with Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards, who, three years ago, issued an executive order that mandated state contractors accommodate employees who identify a gender other than their biological sex. If contractors didn't comply with Gov. Edwards' diktat, vital infrastructure projects could have been delayed. LA Attorney General Jeff Landry challenged the legality of the executive order and said that the Gov. Edwards wasted valuable taxpayer dollars by fighting the order in court. The Louisiana Supreme Court agreed.
As to the other truths...
"Life begins at conception." Congressman Abraham, a member of the pro-life caucus, has fought in Congress for a government-wide ban on funding abortion and health plans that cover abortion.
"Government is too big." Louisiana government spending has increased by $7 billion under Gov. Edwards, while the state has one of the worst economies in the country. The state also has the second-highest sales tax rate in the country and the highest corporate income tax in the South. Yet Louisiana is the only state in the union to lose jobs in the under the Trump economy.
"Our car insurance is too expensive." Louisiana has the second-highest car insurance rates in the country -- 59% percent more for than rates paid by the average American.
"President Trump is doing a great job." Who could argue with that?! Mr Abraham was one of the first members of the Louisiana congressional delegation to endorse then-candidate Donald Trump. FiveThirtyEight’s "Trump score" calls Rep. Abraham one of the President's strongest supporters.
"The Second Amendment is self-explanatory." Congressman Abraham, a veteran and strong supporter of the Second Amendment, has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA). `nuff said.
Walt also endorses Congressman Abraham and wishes him good luck. And congratulations for telling 8 truths in 30 seconds!
Further viewing: Congressman Abraham talks about his campaign on KTAL NBC 6, 17/4/19. Good stuff about Medicaid, tort reform, and the cost of education. "We don't have a revenue problem in Lousiana. We have a leadership problem!"

Poster boy for liberalism accuses liberals of being illiberal
Piers Morgan, seen here kissing Peter Andre [Who he? Ed.], is one of those annoying liberals who can't decide if he's a journalist or media personality or celebrity or what -- a poster boy for "jack of all trades, master of none".
He likes to think of himself as Britain's answer to (((Jon Stewart))) [Who he? Ed.], but his act has not played well on either side of the Atlantic. The British satirical magazine Private Eye refers to him as "Piers Moron". That and this picture are all ye need to know.
But, it seems, even certified [certifiable? Ed.] liberals can only take so much political correctness, forced diversity, triumphant omnisexuality and other manifestations of the liberal ethos. Even Mr Moron has started to plead for an end to it.
In an interview with Ben Shapiro of Turning Point UK, posted yesterday on Twitter, the voice of liberal orthodoxy said, "Populism is rising because liberals have become unbearable, and I speak as a liberal. In my core, I'm probably more liberal than not, although fundamentally, I see myself as a journalist, and I'd like to see both sides of all these things, and I can argue both. But liberals have become utterly, pathetically illiberal, and it's a massive problem.
"What's the point in calling yourself a liberal if you don't allow anyone else to have a different view? This snowflake culture that we now operate in, this victimhood culture -- you know, everyone has to think a certain way, behave a certain way. Everyone has to have a bleeding heart and tell you 20 things that are wrong with them.
"I just think it's all completely skewed to an environment where everyone's offended by everything and no one's allowed to say a joke. If you said a joke ten years ago that offended somebody, you can never host the Oscars. So now there's no host for anything. The Emmys now just said they're not gonna host either. So hosts have gone, and soon every award winner will go because everyone's a human and they're all flawed.
"So no one can win award anymore because there will be no platform before they even get on the podium. So then, no hosts, no stars. Then no one can make any movies because we're all flawed. So, no actors. So suddenly, where are we? The liberals get what they want, which is a humourless void where nothing happens, where no one dared do anything, or laugh about anything to behave in any way that doesn't suit their rigid way of leading a life. No thanks.
"So, what's happening around the world? Populism is rising because people are fed up with the PC culture. They're fed up with snowflakery. They're fed up with everyone being offended by everything, and they're gravitating toward forceful personalities who go, 'This is all nonsense,' which, by the way, it is, in most cases.
"So why are we surprised? I'm not surprised. It doesn't mean that I agree with all of it, but it means I can understand it. And I understand why the liberals -- my side, if you like -- are getting it so horribly wrong. They just wanna tell people not just how to lead their lives, but, 'If you don't lead it the way I tell you to,' -- it's a kind of version of fascism -- 'If you don’t lead the life the way I'm telling you to, then I'm gonna ruin your life. I'm gonna scream abuse at you. I'm gonna get you fired from your job, I'm gonna get you hounded by your family and friends. I'm gonna make you the most disgusting human being in the world."
I lifted that lengthy quote from "Top liberal champion: 'Liberals have become unbearable'", by Joe Kovacs, writing on WND.com yesterday. Mr Kovacs adds that, in July, Mr Morgan penned an op-ed piece for the Daily Mail, in which he said if President Donald Trump gets re-elected, it would be the result of this "radical, socialist, snowflake" mindset that has recently been personified by four female Democrats in Congress.
"Who would Donald Trump most like to face as Democrat nominee in the forthcoming 2020 election?" he asked. "I'd hazard a guess it would be a young, female, screechy, super-woke, easily triggered radical socialist snowflake with a disdainful view of America. In fact, I can narrow it down more specifically to any one of the Squad -- the four newly elected firebrand Democratic congresswomen of color currently lighting up US politics: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna S. Pressley."
If I'd said that, the never-Trumpers would accuse me of being a shill for Still-President Trump [Shurely not! Ed.] and much worse. But there it is, from the mouth (or some other orifice) of a certified liberal.

Another beauty queen shut out for supporting President Trump
Once again a beautiful American girl is being discriminated against for daring to be a conservative who supports Still-President Trump. Only three weeks ago, in "Beauty queen joins Women For Trump Coalition Advisory Board", Walt gave you the good news that Kathy Zhu, who was stripped of her "Miss Michigan" title because of a couple of tweets that offended the SJWs and snowflakes, had joined the Women For Trump Coalition Advisory Board.
Let's hope they can find a place on the board for Katie Jo Williams, "Miss Nevada", who says organizers of the "Miss America" pageant told her she was "too political" to be involved.
What does "too political"? On her Instagram channel Ms Williams says she was banned from competing in the upcoming Miss America beauty contest because of her refusal to hide her support for President Trump. Upon asking what she could do to resolve the issue, and she told the only recourse was to delete everything she had posted on social media, including pictures of Williams in her Trump 2020 hat, professing her love for America and her opposition to Antifa.
To her everlasting credit, Ms Williams refused to delete the offending pix, and was subsequently stripped of her Miss Nevada title. To rub salt into the wound, the organizers told her that in order to get a refund for her entry fee, she would have to send back her sash and crown for winning Miss Nevada and agree to not tell anyone about being banned from competing in Miss America!
Says Ms Williams, "I feel like if I had more liberal views, less conservative views, that this wouldn't even be an issue. I stand by everything I posted." Says Walt, good on ya, Katie Jo, and more power!

Can we not talk about "climate change"? Elections Canada warning!
This is a complicated story but I'll try to give you a short and understandable version. Following a convention in Gatineau QC on Sunday, People's Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier reiterated his doubts as to whether the world is facing a "climate crisis", as claimed by Canuck Environment Minister Catherine "Climate Barbie" McKenna and the usual gang of sky-is-falling, Al-Gore-loving tree-huggers. "Mad Max" and the PPC take the position that climate change is not an emergency nor is it caused by humans.
For example, M Bernier says, CO2 is not "pollution". It is what comes out of the mouths of humans and other animals when they exhale. So what are we supposed to do, stop breathing? The PPC platform plank on "Global Warming and the Environment" is subtitled "Rejecting Alarmism and Focusing on Concrete Improvements". It reads, in part: "CO2 is beneficial for agriculture and there has recently been a measurable “greening” of the world in part thanks to higher levels. Despite what global warming propaganda claims, CO2 is not a pollutant. It is an essential ingredient for life on Earth and needed for plant growth."
"Given the uncertainties over the scientific basis of global warming," the platform continues, "and the certainties about the huge costs of measures designed to fight it, there is no compelling reason to jeopardize our prosperity with more government interventions." This statement puts the People's Party at odds with the liberal orthodoxy and with the positions of the other five parties contesting this fall's federal election. For that reason, Elections Canada has now declared that climate change is a partisan issue (!!!), which makes any argument or advertisement on the subject a "partisan statement" under the laws governing Canadian elections.
The Canada Elections Act could consider advertising partisan if it opposes or supports a policy position of any party or candidate, even without naming them. So any advertisement, whether by environmental activists or "climate change deniers", saying that climate change is real or not real is forbidden!
Environmental activist groups and the leftist parties (Liberals, NDP and Greens) vying to out-green each other are predictably outraged, calling the Elections Canada an attack on free speech (!!!) which muzzles them from speaking out about the "climate crisis". An anti-oil group calling itself "Clean Energy Canada" has already restricted some of its responses to party positions to avoid running afoul of the law, while Greenpeace Canada is planning to cease all advertising on climate change during the writ period.
You might think that the PPC would be happy to have a cone of silence dropped on what will be a major issue in the upcoming election, but you would be wrong. Freedom of speech is one of the basic principles on which the People's Party was founded, and Maxime Bernier issued a statement yesterday describing the Elections Canada warning as "absurd". "The law should only regulate real partisan advertising, which is when there is mention of a candidate or party by name," he said.
He went on to say that Elections Canada "is interpreting a bad law as best it can, but this rule is still absurd. Not because we're the only party with a different perspective which climate alarmists believe is not legitimate. But because it is arbitrary, draconian, and cannot be applied consistently. There are hundreds of potentially contentious issues that could be considered partisan if this rule were to be applied consistently."
Some people... OK, many people... may disagree with M Bernier's position on climate change, but Canucks should give him full credit for championing free speech. Pity that (as things stand) they won't get to hear him in the televised leaders' debates in October. See "Canada's 'independent' Debate Commission shuts out Max Bernier", WWW 12/8/19.

VIDEO: A thank-you note from Max
Maxime Bernier said some kind words to me on Saturday. I asked him if I could get that in writing. Here `tis!
And here's a "home video" (posted by Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson) of M Bernier's speech to the faithful on Sunday. Pity about the sound level but it gives you the flavour of the event.

Rumours re Epstein and the Clintons: Statement from Babylon Bee
Some churls who read "Jeffrey Epstein: suicide or homicide?" (WWW 11/8/19), which featured a photo of Bill and Hellery Clinton along with a link to "CDC: People With Dirt On Clintons Have 843% Greater Risk Of Suicide", an old article from the Babylon Bee, have accused me of buying into the theory that the ex-President and ex-President-wannabe somehow orchestrated Mr Epstein's suicide.
If so, I am not the only one. Still-President Trump suggested just yesterday that if we could find out if Slick Willy had visited the Epstein Pleasure Island, we'd "know something". Indeed.
Meanwhile, the Babylon Bee has seen fit to plead innocent to accusations of the lamestream media that they deliberately resurrected the "Clinton suicide article", first posted in November of 2017 and gave it a place of prominence on their landing page shortly after the death of Mr Epstein was confirmed. Walt is anxious to help the good folks at the BB clear their name, and reposts below their editorial board's statement posted August 12th.
A number of people have questioned our love for Hillary Clinton based on some satirical pieces published on our site recently.
We would like to clear things up by saying that Hillary Clinton is an upstanding citizen and a very fine human being. She is of excellent character. She would never hurt anyone. The people who wrote those jokes, headlines, and pieces that seemed to criticize Hillary have been dealt with.
Some conspiracy theories have been going around about the Clintons, and we think that's just despicable. Deplorable, really. From Bill's time in the White House all the way through Hillary's spotless record as Secretary of State, the Clintons have served this country with honor and not a hint of scandal. For people to suggest they are so powerful and sinister to kill those who might expose some non-existent "wrongdoings" in their past is treason, really.
We just want to make certain that it's clear how much we respect, love, and honor the Clintons. Honestly, they're our favorite politicians of all the politicians, way better than that Trump guy. It's a real shame Hillary didn't win. She's our president.
Above all, we want to make sure Hillary does not question our loyalty to her and the whole Clinton family. We have nothing bad to say about her. Also, just to be clear, we have no dirt or inside information on her whatsoever and nothing would be gained by our untimely deaths.
So, Hillary, we love you! Please do not hurt us.

Canada's "independent" Debate Commission shuts out Max Bernier
Right from the getgo, the "progressive" "forces for good" in Canada's chattering classes -- the politicians and the (((controlled media))) -- determined that it would be dangerous to allow Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, to give a voice to the millions of Canucks who are sick, sore and tired of the prevailing liberal orthodoxy.
God help anybody who dared to utter a politically incorrect word or even think a politically incorrect thought about things like "refugees", immigration and multiculturalism. The cult of "diversity" reigns supreme in the Great No-longer-white North, and anyone who dared to challenge the conventional wisdom was to be silenced.
When "Mad Max" announced the formation of the People's Party last fall, Elections Canada (a creature of the Canadian government, Just In Trudeau, Prop.) decreed that it wasn't a party, and couldn't be until it had so many thousand members. Done, and quick too! Well, then, they said, you can't be a party until you have fielded candidates in a certain number of elections or by-elections. Done! So, in February, Elections Canada reluctantly allowed that, yes, the PPC was officially a party, and could start giving out tax receipts for donations. End of story? Not quite?
Canada's lamestream media stepped in at this point and made a secret agreement that even if M Bernier was technically the leader of a political party, he wouldn't be treated as such, and would be "deplatformed" -- not given any but the barest minimum opportunity to speak through the mainstream print and broadcast channels.
The CBC (Canadian Broadcorping Castration) is the worst offender to the notion of allowing all voices to be heard. Elizabeth May, the leader of Canada's Green Party appears regularly on the CBC's political programmes, even though the party has only one seat (hers) in the House of Commons. (Overheard at an Ottawa restaurant: "May? Party of one?") She will be allowed to participate in the televised Leaders' Debates to be held in October, ahead of the federal election, even though her party has only one plank -- close down Canada's oil industry -- in its platform.
Logic would seem to dictate that Max Bernier would also participate, since the People's Party has a seat -- his -- in the House of Commons. And he has lots to talk about. Not just the environment, the economy, and foreign policy, but also refugees, immigration and "diversity", which the media (Hello, Chantal Hébert! Hello Toronto Star! Hello CBC!) keep telling us are non-issues, of no interest to the Canadian people.
If you think "Mad Max" -- who has been described by the (((controlled media))) as a "racist" and (shudder) "populist" (gasp!) -- is going to get a chance to debate those "non-issues" with the other leaders, you are wrong! For the "independent" Leaders' Debate Commission -- like Elections Canada a creature of the Liberal government -- has invited the leaders of five political parties, including the Greens and the Bloc Québecois, to participate in the October debates. But Maxime Bernier, errr, NO!
Why not?! The transparently flimsy excuse the debate organizing group has come up with is that the People's Party has not yet met one of the criteria to participate in the televised debates, namely that the party isn't represented in the House of Commons by an MP who was elected as a member of that party. M Bernier, a former cabinet minister in the government of Steve Harpoon, was re-elected in 2015 as a Conservative, before before leaving the "Conservatives" to start the PPC.
Beyond that, the Commissioner said in a letter to M Bernier, a survey of recent opinion polls, including the CBC News Poll Tracker (!!), led him to conclude that the People's Party would have a difficult time actually getting one of its candidates elected in October's general election. So if the polls already say you're not going to win, why should you speak in the debate? That's the "logic" employed by the Liberals and their media sycophants.
M Bernier told the media that itès not fair to rely on current polling data, given how well populist parties in other Western democracies have fared in recent elections. He said the PPC has an "excellent chance for rapid growth" if Canadians get a chance to hear the party's message.
According to M Bernier, "The PPC represents a unique perspective, and is the only party that offers distinct policy positions on several topics that are at the heart of political debates, including immigration, climate change, freedom of expression, corporate welfare, foreign aid, supply management, and many other topics."
In its report on this story today, the CBC called these "right-wing policy proposals". Perhaps they are afraid that, as M Bernier claims, the PPC's positions on these issues are similar to those of a large minority, or even a majority of Canadians. Said M Bernier, "Canadians have the right to hear views that differ from those of established parties."
From the outrage being voiced on social media, even in the "Comments" section of the CBC's article, it would seem that ordinary Canadians -- those who are not among the elites -- want to hear what "Mad Max" has to say. The Debates Commission is already backing away from the Commissioner's letter, saying that it will give the matter further consideration, and will make a "final decision" on September 16th. Stay tuned.

Jeffrey Epstein: suicide or homicide?
You don't need me to recap the news story, do you? Officials say the FBI and the American Inspector General's office will investigate how Jeffrey Epstein died in his jail cell in New York's Metropolitan Correction Center, in what the "authorities" were quick to label an apparent suicide, which nobody sawa coming. The late Mr Epstein was awaiting trial on sexual abuse allegations, with a number of prominent citizens -- celebrities, royalty, presidents -- of the USA and other countries numerous said to have been the beneficiaries of Mr E's generosity with the favours of teen talent who always seemed to be at his beck and call.
There has been some suggestion -- hell, a lot of suggestion -- that Mr Epstein may have died in what could be called "assisted suicide". Another term being bandied about is "murder". But who would want Mr Epstein dead? Shortly after the news broke, former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani, now a lawyer for Still-President Trump, tweeted, "Who was watching? What does camera show?... Follow the motives."
Walt recalls the following bit of dialogue from The Godfather II.
Tom Hagen: When a plot against the Emperor failed... the plotters were always given a chance... to let their families keep their fortunes. Right?
Frank Pentangeli: Yeah, but only the rich guys, Tom. The little guys got knocked off and all their estates went to the emperors. Unless they went home and killed themselves, then nothing happened. And the families... the families were taken care of.
Tom Hagen: That was a good break. A nice deal.
Frank Pentangeli: Yeah... They went home... and sat in a hot bath... opened up their veins... and bled to death... and sometimes they had a little party before they did it.
Shortly after Tom Hagen's visit to the secure facility in which Frankie Pentangeli was being "protected" by law enforcement officers, he was found in his bathtub, with his wrists slashed, quite dead. Hmmm....

Just in case you can't find Walt any more...
HEADS-UP FROM ED.: Looks like the PC police "Inside Google" have started to keep an eye on WWW. Maybe it had something to do with our "It's cool to be white!" logo? I've taken that down, but if WWW suddenly "goes black" (so to speak) you'll know what happened.

People's Party of Canada promises to end "cult of diversity"
Ever since he was crowned ["chosen", shurely. Ed.] as leader of the Liberal Party, Justin "Mr Socks" Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canuckistan, has been yelling "Diversity is our strength!" at the top of his voice, so loud and so often that the majority of Canadians (according to numerous polls) are sick of hearing it, besides which they just don't believe it.
The only party contesting this fall's federal election which has been brave enough to say "Diversity is NOT our strength and we're going to end all this BS about 'diversity' and 'inclusion'!" is Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada. Hard on the heels of yesterday's policy statement on refugees, the PPC has published its policy on multiculturalism, which we are pleased to repost here, in its entirety.
Issue
A nation must be based on a sense of belonging, of participating in a common national project, and sharing the same values. It’s only when these sentiments are widely shared that we can develop the trust and common understanding necessary for our society and institutions to function.
In the past, immigrants who came to Canada gradually integrated into our society. They did of course keep some aspects of the culture of their country of origin. They became Canadian, but with a distinct flavour. This is a type of multiculturalism that enriches our society.
However, over the past decades, the government of Canada has pursued a policy of official multiculturalism that encourages immigrants to keep the values and culture they left behind instead of integrating into Canadian society and adopting Canadian values and culture.
With his cult of diversity, Justin Trudeau has pushed this ideology even further into a form of extreme multiculturalism. He described Canada as the first post-national state, with no core identity.
In a free society, immigrants have the right to cherish and maintain their cultural heritage. However, that doesn’t mean we have any obligation to help them preserve it, with government programs and taxpayers’ money. The vast majority of Canadians rightly expect them to learn about our history and culture, master one of our official languages, and adopt widely shared Canadian values.
Facts
Canada is and has always been a diverse country. We have First Nations and Inuit, two official languages, a multiethnic population, and very different regional cultures. The culture of Cape Breton is very different from that of the Eastern Townships in Quebec, or that of southern Alberta, or Nunavut. All these cultures are intrinsically Canadian. They developed in Canada. They don’t exist anywhere else in the world. They deserve to be nurtured and to survive.
Our distinct values are those of a contemporary Western civilization. They include: democracy; individual rights and freedoms, including freedom of religious belief and freedom to criticize religion; equality between men and women; the equal treatment of all citizens regardless of ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation; the rule of law; separation of state and religion; tolerance and pluralism; and loyalty to the wider society instead of to one’s clan or tribe.
Our Plan
Official multiculturalism is based on the idea that there is no unified Canadian society and no distinct Canadian identity to integrate into, and that we are just a collection of ethnic and religious tribes living side by side. But if we want to keep our country united, and ensure social cohesion, we must focus on what unites us as Canadians, not what divides us.
A People’s Party government will:

If you're an American, and you believe "E pluribus unum" [Wozzat? Ed.], get involved! Find (if you can) a party or politician who's saying the right things, the things in the PPC platform, and campaign for them. 15 months left...

Canadian Identity: Ending Official Multiculturalism
and Preserving Canadian Values and Culture

A People’s Party government will:
- Repeal the Multiculturalism Act and eliminate all funding to promote multiculturalism. Emphasize instead the integration of immigrants into Canadian society.
- Substantially lower the total number of immigrants and refugees Canada accept every year, from 350,000 to between 100,000 and 150,000 (see Immigration policy).
- Ensure that every candidate for immigration undergoes a face-to-face interview and answers a series of specific questions to assess the extent to which they align with Canadian values and societal norms (see Immigration policy).

Writing in 1944, George Orwell predicted life in 2019
No, we're not talking about 1984. George Orwell (real name Eric Blair) wrote that in 1948, while he was living on the remote and desolate isle of Jura, in the Hebrides. About four years earlier, before he fled London for the solitude of Jura, he wrote an essay called "Pleasure Spots", in which he foresaw, with uncanny accuracy, what life would be like in the 21st century. Here's part of it -- the five principles governing how we live today.
Quoted by Thurston Clarke in Searching for Crusoe (Ballantine Books, 2001).
- One is never alone.
- One never does anything for oneself.
- One is never within sight of wild vegetation or natural objects of any kind.
- Light and temperature are always artificially regulated.
- One is never out of the sound of artificial music.

People's Party of Canada policy statement on refugees
Anticipating the general election scheduled for October 21st, Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada has released its policy papers on immigration, refugees and other critical issues on which Canadians will be asked to vote. Walt has just received the following press release which, IMHO, sets out a sensible policy not just for Canada but for the other AABC countries and western Europe. [Too bad it's too late for Europe. Ed.]
Issue
The Liberal government is deliberately attempting to erase our borders. Over the past three years, it has done nothing to stop the flow of tens of thousands of asylum seekers illegally crossing our borders. Accepting all these refugees will cost Canadian taxpayers billions of dollars.
Moreover, in 2018, Canada welcomed more resettled refugees than any other Western country; more than the United States, a country with ten times our population, and as many as all of the European Union.
The UN’s Global Compact for Migration, which the Liberal government signed last year, aims to normalize this kind of situation, and to make it easier for millions of people to move to Canada and other Western democracies at will.
Facts
Since early 2017, more than 45,000 migrants have illegally entered Canada, mainly at Roxham Road in Quebec, avoiding official border checkpoints where they would be turned away and told to file refugee claims in the United States. About 40% of the refugee claims that have been processed have been rejected. These false refugees will eventually have to be deported, after costing governments tens of thousands of dollars each.
A report by the Parliamentary Budget Officer found that the federal government spends on average about $14,000 for each asylum seeker crossing into Canada outside of official border points. The total annual cost for federal agencies to process these claims is expected to reach $396 million in 2019-2020. It does not include expenses incurred by the provinces, territories or municipalities, which pick up costs related to social services.
Our Plan
Our current refugee policy is unsustainable, costly, and it is being abused by false refugees at our borders. This must end. The moral obligation of Canada’s government is to first help those in need among our own population, and then to give priority to real refugees.

- Accept fewer resettled refugees (see also Immigration policy).
- Take every measure necessary, in partnership with our American neighbours, to stop the flow of illegal migrants at the US-Canadian border.
- Declare the whole border an official port of entry for the purposes of refugee claims to send back to the US anyone trying to enter Canada illegally.
- Fence off the areas where illegal border jumping is prevalent, such as Roxham Road in Quebec.
- Rely on private sponsorships instead of having the government pay for all the costs of resettling refugees in Canada.
- Stop our reliance on the United Nations for refugee selection.
- Give priority to refugees belonging to persecuted groups who have nowhere to go in neighbouring countries. For example: Christians, Yazidis, and members of other minority religions in majority Muslim countries; members of the Ahmadi community, and other Muslims in these countries who are persecuted because they reject political Islam and adhere to Western values; and members of sexual minorities.
- Take Canada out of the UN’s Global Compact for Migration.

Brilliant satire from the People's Cube: dream diary of Tiffany, SJW
Komissar al-Blogunov, writing in The People's Cube, has concocted a brilliant piece of satire: "From the dream diary of Tiffany, SJW". Constraints of space prevent us from reposting the whole thing, but these excerpts will give you the flavour of it. To read the aarticle in its entirety, follow the link at the end.
Okay, like, I had this totally awful dream last night, okay - in my safe space! It was literally the worst dream I have ever literally had. It went like this:
It was November 3, 2020. Bernie won! It was wonderful that he won because that meant that Trump was gone! My feminist studies professor told me that Trump was literally the worst Republican president since Hitler, and I believe him. Everybody on campus was cheering, hugging, dancing, getting high, and waving rainbow flags while burning American flags. It was the greatest day in our nation's history.
Bernie gave the best inaugural address that I have literally ever heard. He said, "The time has come to realize FDR's Second Bill of Rights."
I had to Google FDR, and Google said that he was literally the best president ever and AOC said Republicans persecuted him and rewrote the Constitution (some kind of boat, I don't get it) so he couldn't run for a fifth term after he died.
My bad, back to the speech. It was literally awesome.... I thought I was literally going to go deaf from all the cheering. But then something really weird happened in my dream, and it was like I was going forward in time....
I guess I needed to like, work or something. I knew I could make a lot of money with the new minimum living wage of $50 per hour (Thank you, thank you, Bernie!) so I looked for my first job. I was so confused because it was like everybody else needed a job, too. Everywhere I went some guy or some woman would tell me they couldn't afford to hire me. I went to the Employment Council building, and they said that since I was white I had to move to the back of the line. How come there were no jobs when the pay was so good?
We ended up living in an alley, and I'm not lying when I tell you it was literally the filthiest place I've ever seen. We tried to make a shelter, but it didn't do much to keep the rain out, and nobody would share their tent with us. My little brother got sick, so we took him to the hospital because all the health care was free (Thank you again, Bernie, you're awesome!) and we knew we could just walk in. You know what? There were so. many. sick people there. When we got to the desk, Mommy said that my brother may have typhoid (she used to be a nurse) and needed to be seen immediately. Well, the clerk told us to go home and come back when there weren't so many sick people in the waiting room and the earliest appointment we could get was 11 months later.
When I woke up, I was so confused, so angry. I mean, how is it even possible for socialism to turn out so bad when they make so many cool promises? Whatever. We just need the right people in charge.

UPDATED 3x: Toronto police chief needs a reality check!
UPDATE FROM ED., added at 1600. I no sooner posted this piece than Our Man in Toronto(ish) called to say that there had been another shooting in Toronto's notorious Lawrence Heights district, raising the numbers for the weekend to 12 shootings, 14 wounded, 0 killed. More target practice needed, bwoyz!
FURTHER UPDATE FROM ED., added at 1808. Guess what? Another victim walked into a nearby hospital about the time I was writing the first update! That makes 12 shootings, 15 wounded, still no fatalities.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE FROM ED., added 6/8/19, 0520. Checking the mojo wire by the dawn's early light, CBC reports two more shootings, two more injured, bringing the totals for Toronto's Caribbean Carnival weekend to 14 shootings, 17 injured. "Police have not released any information on possible suspects" in any of the incidents.
This is a screen grab from CTV's Toronto flagship's website, this afternoon. One of Walt's agents, who was born in Toronto and lived there for some years but now avoids it like the plague [black plague? Ed.] says Chief Saunders is badly in need of a reality check. 11 shooting incidents, with 13 people wounded (but none killed -- poor shots!) is indeed Toronto... or, at least, Toronto on the weekend of the Caribbean Carnival.
Said Carnival is billed as "the largest cultural event of its kind in North America". What culture do you suppose they're talking about? Why, errr, Caribbean culture, mon! The 11 shooting incidents mentined above are only those that were reported, as millions (literally) of the people of colour who have contributed so much to Canada swarmed the streets in a hyuge jump-up. Diversity reigned! Numerous "Jamaican salutes" were fired. The debris is still being cleaned up as this is written.
Perhaps the problem, for Chief Saunders (who is a human of colour) is that he doesn't like to admit that the perps as well as the victims were, to a person, black. At least that's what one may conclude from viewing the bits of video that are being shown on CTV. But Chief Saunders' persons are "not releasing any suspect information." That's because the only applicable adjective would be "black", and a description like "black male, spoke with a Jamaican accent" would fit tens of thousands of revellers.
Hundreds of said revellers were celebrating de end of carnival at a "packed" nightclub in Toronto's northwest ghetto when someone starting shooting, injuring five or seven, depending on which channel you're watching. The Toronto Police "Service" is appealing to any witnesses to come forward, but so far no-one has done so. Chances of someone snitching on a bro? Slim and none!
I would hope Toronto voters would remember this weekend during the upcoming election campaign, every time Just In Trudeau or his Minister of Refugees and Immigration (seriously, that's his title!) says "Diversity is our strength!" But I'm betting the other way.

Islamic terrorists strike close to home -- theirs!
While we were waiting to see who was behind this weekends mass murders in El Paso and Dayton -- wondering if it was the work of terrorists (domestic or imported) or maybe just a couple of deranged individuals (as it turned out) -- the real terrorists, the jihadists, were in training in the Middle East. In Cairo, chief shithole of Egypt, to be specific.
Sadly for mearly two dozen Cairenes, their practice run -- moving a car full of explosives to the site of a planned attack -- didn't go off as planned. Or perhaps I should say it went off before it was planned, as the car exploded late Sunday night on the busy Corniche boulevard along the Nile River, setting other cars on fire, killing at least 20 and injuring at least 47, most of them Muslims. No cries of "Allahu akbar!" were heard, just a shout of "Oh shit!"
The massively weaponized vehicle [Hey! You learned a new word! Ed.] exploded near Egypt's main cancer hospital (pictured) shattering parts of the facade and some rooms inside and forcing the evacuation of dozens of patients. The hospital's main gate was damaged, along with several patient rooms and wards, according to a statement from Cairo University, whose medical school uses the institution as an educational facility. Windows and glass doors on the hospital building were shattered.
One patient told the meeja, "Parts of the ceiling of the hospital were collapsing as I got out of my room. People were running everywhere and shouting." The Egyptian Health Ministry did not say whether any patients or hospital staff were among the casualties. Another witness said that several vehicles on the street were damaged, burning those inside.
Inspector Mohammed Mohammed of the Cairo Police initially said the explosion was caused by a multi-vehicle accident. But today the Interior Ministry acknowledged that a car bomb was involved. The authorities accused a militant group known as Hasm, which has links to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, saying it was moving the car, which had been stolen months ago, to carry out an attack, errr, somewhere else.
The attack is the deadliest in Cairo since a bombing at a chapel adjacent to Egypt's main Coptic Christian cathedral killed 30 people during Sunday mass in December 2016. That attack was claimed by Egypt's affiliate of the ISIS group. For years, Egypt has battled Islamic militants, led by an ISIS affiliate, in the Sinai Peninsula. That insurgency has at times spilled over into other parts of the country. Smaller bombings, usually by roadside devices, have taken place more often, targeting security forces and in two cases tourists near the Pyramids. Car bombs, however, have been far rarer in the capital.

LMAO at this "fake news" from the Babylon Bee
I confess to not having heard of the Babylon Bee until I read, earlier this week, that the notoriously left-leaning "fact-checker", Snopes, is trying to shut the website down. In "No Joke: Babylon Bee Sics Lawyers On Snopes Over 'Fact Checks'", HotAir reports that Snopes has attempted to exploit its position as a Facebook partner to "deplatform" the "Christian news satire" site.
Apparently, Snopes doesn't know the difference between satire and "fake news", and rated a Bee piece "false", prompting FB to threaten BB with limitations and demonetization. When the folks at Bee pointed out that their work is not intended to be taken seriously -- indeed, the legend "Fake news you can trust" appears at the top of every page -- and after some media attention shed light on the problem, Facebook apologized for their handling of the matter and admitted that satire is, errr, not the same as fake news.
That would be the end of it, if it weren't for Snopes' role as a sometime Facebook gatekeeper. That role gives Snopes a significant amount of power over a major distribution channel for independent publishers, not just the Bee. The threat of malicious deplatforming in that context is real, and Snopes' disparate treatment of the Bee as opposed to The Onion certainly makes it look personal and biased against conservative satire.
Intrigued, I visited the Babylon Bee website today, and have bookmarked it for perusal every day for the rest of my years. Here follows an example of the Bee's sense of humour.
What? You want me to repost the text as well? Just click on the headline and you can read it for yourself, straight from the Bee's, errr, proboscis. Enjoy.

Netherlands latest EU country to ban the burqa
The Netherlands today joined a number of other European nations -- and non-EU countries too -- in implementinga law requiring people to show their faces in public, when providing or accessing public services. Clothing that "covers the face" must not be worn in a variety of public spaces, such as schools, hospitals, public buildings and public transport. A similar law was recently passed by the National Assembly of the Canadian province of Québec.
Contrary to the fake news being spread by the usual gang of Islamophiles and SJWs, the ban does not target only Muslim women. It applies equally to men and women, and prohibits not only burqas and nijabs -- see "Hijab, niqab, burqa -- what's the difference?", WWW 28/7/10 -- but any full-face covering, such as a balaclava or motorcycle helmets. [What about a hockey goalie mask? Ed.] Anyone who doesn't comply can be denied access to public areas, and fined up to €150 ($167 in real money).
France was the first country in Europe to ban the veil almost ten years ago. Last year, however, a committee of the United Nations (of course!) ruled that the legislation violated human rights. In spite of the UN's predictable opinion, other European countries have followed suit. In Denmark, the burqa ban has been in effect for a year. And earlier this year, Austria passed a law intended to ban Muslim girls from wearing headscarves in primary schools. The headscarf ruling came in addition to Austria's prohibition of full-face coverings which has been in force since 2017.
The German state of Hesse has implemented similar burqa restrictions for the civil service. Six months ago, full-face coverings were forbidden at Kiel University in northern Germany, citing the need for open communication that includes facial expressions and gestures. However, some politicians (Hello, Angela Merkel!) came out against the move, saying it undermined religious freedom.
The most surprising imposition of a burqa ban comes, however, from the Islamic kingdom of Morocco! As reported in "Burqas banned in... you'll never guess!", WWW 17/1/17, because of concerns about... wait for it... security! A spokesthingy for the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior told AFP, "We have taken the step of completely banning the import, manufacture and marketing of this garment in all the cities and towns of the kingdom, since bandits have repeatedly used this garment to perpetrate their crimes." ("Bandits" is Arabic for "terrorists".)
What are the chances of a burqa ban being enacted in The Rest of Canada (Just In Trudeau, Prop.) or the Paranoid States of America? In today's political climate, where any proposal that smacks of "Islamophobia" is instantly condemned by all progressive, correct-thinking people as "racist" and "divisive", the chances of a burqa ban are slim and none.

Seen during last night's Demb debate
Just a thought that crossed my mind during the fourth (already!) not-so-great debate.
It's early days yet, in the Dembs' bitter contest to see who will lose to President Trump, but it looks to me as if Old White Joe's got the inside track, if only because Kamala Devi Harris, Colonel Sanders, and Fauxcahontas are fighting so hard for the outside.
Footnote: Rumour is that the White House security crew had to use a fire extinguisher to put out a minor conflagration in the Oval Office, on the cuff's of the President's shirt to be specific, which started when he rubbed his hands together in glee.
