Anastasia Lin, seen here speaking in a debate at the Oxford Union in early Febraruy, is a beauty queen. She was born in China, in Hunan province, and came to Canada with her parents at age 13. The People's Republic of China doesn't allow dual citizenship, so when Ms Lin became a citizen, she lost the right to return to China, even for a visit, without a visa. When she was crowned Miss World Canada in 2015, she applied for a visa to compete for the world title in China, but the Communist authorities denied her application. Dontcha want to know why?
The 30-year-old Chinese-Canadian actress has been speaking for years about the Chinese Communists' worldwide propaganda and influence operations, and its countless human rights abuses, including the persecution of Chinese Christians, about which Walt has written numerous times, most recently "Chinese Commies won't allow 'Patriotic Catholic' churches to re-open" (28/4/20). Another beauty queen shut out for supporting President Trump
Once again a beautiful American girl is being discriminated against for daring to be a conservative who supports Still-President Trump. Only three weeks ago, in "Beauty queen joins Women For Trump Coalition Advisory Board", Walt gave you the good news that Kathy Zhu, who was stripped of her "Miss Michigan" title because of a couple of tweets that offended the SJWs and snowflakes, had joined the Women For Trump Coalition Advisory Board.
Let's hope they can find a place on the board for Katie Jo Williams, "Miss Nevada", who says organizers of the "Miss America" pageant told her she was "too political" to be involved.
What does "too political"? On her Instagram channel Ms Williams says she was banned from competing in the upcoming Miss America beauty contest because of her refusal to hide her support for President Trump. Upon asking what she could do to resolve the issue, and she told the only recourse was to delete everything she had posted on social media, including pictures of Williams in her Trump 2020 hat, professing her love for America and her opposition to Antifa.
To her everlasting credit, Ms Williams refused to delete the offending pix, and was subsequently stripped of her Miss Nevada title. To rub salt into the wound, the organizers told her that in order to get a refund for her entry fee, she would have to send back her sash and crown for winning Miss Nevada and agree to not tell anyone about being banned from competing in Miss America!
Says Ms Williams, "I feel like if I had more liberal views, less conservative views, that this wouldn't even be an issue. I stand by everything I posted." Says Walt, good on ya, Katie Jo, and more power!

Beauty pageant for unwed "natural born women" ONLY! Fancy that!
Yes, dear readers, it's the Miss Marijuana Beauty Pageant, now accepting applications. They're looking for "the type of girl all the guys want, and all the girls want to be friends with", like the shining example pictured at right. But here's the thing. If you're a wrinkly (over 30) or married or a member of the "transgendered community", don't waste your time filling in the app. You're disqualified! Only "unwed" and "natural born" females between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible.If accepted, contestants will upload a profile on which the public -- or at least those interested in marijuana and beautiful women -- will vote. Voters will narrow the field down to 53 women, one for each state plus one for Canada. Hardly seems fair, considering that MJ is illegal in most states but legal in all ten Canadian provinces and three territories!
Online polling will take place for six or seven weeks, after which the finalists will go to the in-person [in-the-flesh? Ed.] contest in Las Vegas... of course. The finale will include a "personal interview question" [such as? Ed.] and two struts down the catwalk -- once in a bathing suit and once in a gownless evening strap.
Winner gets the coveted Miss Marijuana title and the crown to go with it, plus 25 large, plus a car, although what kind of car hasn't been specified. Something made in Mexico, perhaps. The pageant's founder, Howard the Bear [Ed., please check spelling. It says "Baer" here but I think that's a mistake.] told the Georgia Straight, "It'll be a fashion show, it'll be a concert -- lotta fun... I hope!"
Mr Baer [Bear?] says the pageant has so far attracted over 5200 would-be contestants. He adds, "We have so many signed up from Canada that it looks like we may have to break it up into provinces. Originally, we were going to do it just as one, but we have over 500 from there now." He did not say whether Canuck prime minister, noted for being both a feminist and a sometime smoker, was promoting the contest up there in the Great No-longer-white North.

Miss India faces abuse over American descent
After her victory at Mumbai's famous Dharavi Beach resort, the 24-year-old beauty queen, who was born in Syracuse, New York, and is believed to be a practising Lutheran, said: "I'm so happy this country has at last truly embraced diversity.... I'm thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new, blonde Miss India."
But others were not so happy with the success of the "Bengali tigress", who after her reign wants to join Mother Theresa's Sisters of Charity, and is applying to medical school with the help of a Rs 5,000,000,000 (US$50) scholarship she won as part of the pageant title.
Some people accused her of not being Indian. Others said she looked like a Hollywood film star, not a modest and decent Indian girl. One Twitter user, DelhiRobinson9, wrote: "I am literally sooo mad right now a blue-eyed FOREN won. #MissIndia"
Patel48592945 added: "How the **** does a foreigner win miss India? She is a ******* Swede! #idiots"
Ali_oop said: "It's called Miss India. Get outta here Calcutta you overfed white pig. #india4indians"
And another user said: "Well they just picked a Christian for Miss India. That must've made the pope happy. Maybe he had a vote."
Others took to Twitter to defend her, however. Another user, Norske69, tweeted: "A country full of racists. That is India. #MissIndia". And PradaForever tweeted: "So Indians and Americans are the same now? O for sure.. #MissIndia".
Ms Hjalvarsen, whose talent routine was a Bollywood fusion dance, brushed aside the negative comments about her. "I have to rise above that," she said. "I always viewed myself as first and foremost a bimbo." [Is this right? Ed.]
"I am very, very happy for the girl. It was her dream and it was fulfilled," said 89-year-old Vijay Koteshwaramma, speaking by phone from his home in the city of Syracuse in upstate New York, USA. He said there were numerous doctors in the family, both in the US and India, and if his granddaughter wanted to become one "I am sure she will do it."

Beauty pageant preserves culture of United Arab Emirates
Tamara Walid of Reuters reports from Dubai that one of the biggest and best beauty pageants in the Middle East is set to unfold in the United Arab Emirates. 150 contestants will compete every day for three days, with the top two winning luxury cars and the eight runners-up getting a sizeable number of petrodollars.
The contestants will be adorned with sparkling ornaments, but will otherwise parade totally unclothed -- just as Allah made them -- in front of the judges. The prettiest will be selected, based on general appearance, structure of the body, height, length of neck, and -- a critical factor -- the curve of their humps.
The competitors are, you see, camels. And not just any camels! Their owners must swear to the purity of their lineage and proprietorship. Camels that have been sullied by contact with infidels are disqualified.
In an effort to preserve the Emirates' cultural legacy, the government encourages camel rearing through funding and festivals where the desert animal is paraded for beauty, and sold in auctions. The festival also serves as a meeting point for the country's tribes. Tribesmen are paid by the government to rear camels and preserve a pure lineage of the country's breeds.
At the auction which follows the pageant, Gulf Arabs gather to place their bids or sell for the highest price on offer. Some camels could be sold for as much as 16 million dirhams ($4.36 million), said one participant.
The festival takes place three times a year in Ajman and Abu Dhabi. Said the event's executive director, Shalal Rzooqi al-Shimri, "With the festival, we want to encourage cultural tourism and preserve our heritage."
