Words of John Kennedy: "Love is the answer... but..."

Nooo.... not the John Kennedy who was Marilyn Monroe's quasi-secret sugar daddy. I'm talking about Senator John Kennedy (R-LA).

He wasn't a Harvard man. Senator Kennedy graduated magna cum laude in political science, philosophy, and economics from Vanderbilt University. He was president of his senior class and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Senator Kennedy received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was an executive editor of the Virginia Law Review. He also earned a Bachelor of Civil Law degree with first-class honors from Oxford University (Magdalen College), where he studied under Sir Rupert Cross and Sir John H. C. Morris.

Not only does Senator Kennedy have an outstanding academic background. He also possesses a keen sense of humour, on display here in his statement of beliefs

1. I believe America was founded by geniuses, but is now run by idiots.

2. I believe you can't fix stupid, but you can vote them out of office.

3. When was the last time you heard of anyone trying to sneal into China?

4. America is so great that people who hate it refuse to leave.

5. The Biden administration sucks.

6. I believe exercise makes you look better naked, but so does alcohol.

7. I believe welfare should be a bridge, not a parking lot.

8. Weakness invites wolves.

9. I believe we must arm for peace.

10. We don't have a gun control problem; we have an idiot control problem.

11. If government tells you not to buy a gun, buy two.

12. If you hate police, the next time you're in trouble, call a crackhead.

13. Cops will leave you alone if you don't do stupid things.

14. I believe we need an election day, not an election month.

15. I believe you should have to prove you are who you say you are before you vote.

16. I believe 400,000 bodies buried at Arlington National Cemetery are the reason you should stand for the national anthem.

17. I believe the water won't clear until you get the pigs out of the creek.

18. I believe love is the answer... but you should own a gun, just in case.

VIDEO: What kind of person would put Gorilla Glue on their hair?

I used the personal pronoun "their" because I didn't want to give the answer away, but since you probably guessed anyway, watch this.

Yes folks, it's Tessica Brown, a Louisiana woman who doesn't favour the Afro/natural look. Last week she posted on anti-social media her story of running out of her usual hair product, and opting to use Gorilla Glue instead. Imagine her surprise when the extra-strength superglue held her hair firmly in place... for a month!

A visit to the ER failed to resolve ["dissolve", shurely. Ed.] the situation. Health care workers put acetone (read: nail polish remover) on the back of Ms Brown's head, but instead of getting to the root of the problem, [Don't do that again. Ed.] it burned her scalp and only made the glue gooey before hardening again.

Now the Brown lady is considering a lawsuit to get out of the sticky situation. [Last warning! Ed.] She has hired an ambulance-chaser to prepare a complaint [to Judge Judy? Ed.] alleging that, while the product's label warns against using on eyes, skin or clothing, it does not mention hair.

Gorilla Glue tweeted a statement saying it's aware of the dilemma, and is "very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Miss Brown experienced using our Spray Adhesive on her hair. We are glad to see in her recent video that Miss Brown has received medical treatment from her local medical facility and wish her the best."

But the question remains: who's going to get stuck with the medical bills? [I warned you! We're done here... Ed.]

VIDEO: 8 truths in 30 seconds - LA Rep. candidate dooms campaign?

Q. How do you know when a politician is lying? A. When his mouth is open...
It's an old joke, and all too true 99% of a time. But every now and then someone running for office has the gonads to place himself in the line of fire by getting up on his hind feet and telling the truth, simply and forcefully.

That's what Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) did yesterday, when his campaign released a 3-second TV ad asserting (among other things) that there are only two genders. "As a doctor", he says, he should know! Check this out.

Telling that stone truth puts Dr Abrahams at odds with the prevailing political orthodoxy, and with Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards, who, three years ago, issued an executive order that mandated state contractors accommodate employees who identify a gender other than their biological sex. If contractors didn't comply with Gov. Edwards' diktat, vital infrastructure projects could have been delayed. LA Attorney General Jeff Landry challenged the legality of the executive order and said that the Gov. Edwards wasted valuable taxpayer dollars by fighting the order in court. The Louisiana Supreme Court agreed.

As to the other truths...
"Life begins at conception." Congressman Abraham, a member of the pro-life caucus, has fought in Congress for a government-wide ban on funding abortion and health plans that cover abortion.
"Government is too big." Louisiana government spending has increased by $7 billion under Gov. Edwards, while the state has one of the worst economies in the country. The state also has the second-highest sales tax rate in the country and the highest corporate income tax in the South. Yet Louisiana is the only state in the union to lose jobs in the under the Trump economy.
"Our car insurance is too expensive." Louisiana has the second-highest car insurance rates in the country -- 59% percent more for than rates paid by the average American.
"President Trump is doing a great job." Who could argue with that?! Mr Abraham was one of the first members of the Louisiana congressional delegation to endorse then-candidate Donald Trump. FiveThirtyEight’s "Trump score" calls Rep. Abraham one of the President's strongest supporters.
"The Second Amendment is self-explanatory." Congressman Abraham, a veteran and strong supporter of the Second Amendment, has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA). `nuff said.

Walt also endorses Congressman Abraham and wishes him good luck. And congratulations for telling 8 truths in 30 seconds!

Further viewing: Congressman Abraham talks about his campaign on KTAL NBC 6, 17/4/19. Good stuff about Medicaid, tort reform, and the cost of education. "We don't have a revenue problem in Lousiana. We have a leadership problem!"

Not to be confused with Walt Whiteman

It has come to Walt's attention that there are to be found on YouTube video clips featuring a story-teller with the name... or stage name... Walt Whiteman. That Walt Whiteman is not to be confused with the Walt Whiteman who writes WWW.

I must say, though, that my namesake is a mighty fine Louisiana stand-up comic. Reminds me of the late Jerry Clower (d. 24/8/98), except that ole Jerry was a Miss'sippi boy. Here is Walt telling a story about Reverend Lyonel P. Giedrey. Enjoy.
