VIDEO: Climate alarmists WRONG; Dilbert RIGHT
"Example: The world's population will grow faster than the food supply, and we'll all starve to death. Human response: Scientists realized you can call just about anything a "meat patty".
"Example: Petroleum reserves will be depleted in twenty years. Human response: Scientists discovered oil in their own hair.
"Example: Communism will spread to the rest of the world. Human response: All Communists became ballerinas and defected."
The point is that none of those predictions came true once we started worrying about them. That's the way it always works.Thursday, October 30, 2025

American interference in Canadian election
It never fails. Every time I announce that I'm going to be off for a couple of days, something happens to change my plans. Murphy's law. But I would be remiss if I unplugged the computer without pointing out the hypocrisy of American politicans, Democrat politicians, who whined endlessly about "foreign interference" in the Presidential elections of 2016 and 2020, but don't hesitate to tell Canadians who to vote for.
Here is the list of last-minute, desperate-measures-called-for endorsements, published yesterday and today.
Barack Hussain Obama (aka the Prez) has endorsed his "friend" Justin Trudeau. That's the second time. He did that in the last week of the 2019 campaign and it had the desired effect of reassuring "progressives" that Mr Socks was more than the shallow puppet he seemed to be.
Hellery Clinton, former US Secretary of State and twice-failed presidential candidate, has endorsed her "friend" Justin Trudeau. That's because he's a champion of "reproductive rights" (i.e. baby-killing), affordable child care and other issues of importance to wimmin. And...
(((Bernie Sanders))), another failed presidential candidate, has endorsed... wait for it... Jagmeet Singh, leader of Canada's Few Democrats. Mr Sanders sits in the US senate as an Independent, so maybe we shouldn't call him a Democrat. How about "Social Democrat" or "Demoratic Socialist"?
One thing these three have in common with Mr Trudeau is that they are all part of the Soros plan for One World Government.
Just today, another tool of the New World Order, Filippo Grandi [= "Philip the Great"? Ed.], the United Nations Commissar for Refugees, reminded Canucks that their new government "must" [sic] honour the Liberals' promise to accommodate 20,000 Afghan refugees!
Dear Canadian friends, how do you like the prospect of the United Nations and the Democratic rulers of the Entitled States of America telling you (no matter which variety of liberals you elect) what to do? Not thrilled about it?

Saint Greta Thunberg calls out world leaders in UN speech
"People are suffering, people are dying," she told those who bothered to attend the Climate Action Summit [sic]. "Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth.... You are failing us, but the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say: We will never forgive you."
The dear child didn't mention Still-President Trump by name. He had already walked out of the Summit after enduring about 14 minutes of that kind of drivel. But he heard or read at least some of her remarks, and responded on Twitter, where he called her
Michael Knowles, of Fox News, was not so kind. He referred to Ms Thunberg as "a mentally ill Swedish child who is being exploited by her parents and by the international left", then doubled down and called her "mentally ill" a second time. The network, obviously tiring of being accused of political incorrectness, subsequently apologized for Mr Knowles' remarks.
Footnote for Canadian readers: Chasseur Dephoques, from Saint-Louis-du-Ha!Ha! QC (you can look it up), wants to know who represented his country at the great Summit. Well, Hunter, Climate Barbie (aka Catherine McKenna), the Minister of the Environment, was too busy campaigning to save her seat in Parliament. And her boss, Just In Trudeau, was seen (in whiteface, mind you) in Niagara Falls, chucking a baby under the bus [chin, shurely! Ed.] So it feel to a low-level minion to hold aloft the red maple leaf. We didn't get the minion's name. Sorry.

Lead paragraph: "More than 500 scientists and professionals in climate and related fields have sent a “European Climate Declaration” to the Secretary-General of the United Nations asking for a long-overdue, high-level, open debate on climate change."

VIDEO: Greta Thunberg: "International mascot for climate alarmism"
Did you ask yourself, "What's wrong with that girl?!" She's 16, as old or older than some of the young women accompanying her. Why does she dress like that? [Maybe her handlers... errr, parents... dress her. Ed.] Why does she talk like that? WTF is she trying to prove?
Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, has answered those questions in an eight-part Tweetstorm about the "international mascot for climate alarmism". He calls her "mentally unstable" and says she is being used by the left as "a convenient shield". Direct quote from part 4/8: "@GretaThunberg is clearly mentally unstable. Not only autistic, but obsessive-compulsive, eating disorder, depression and lethargy, and she lives in a constant state of fear. She wants us to feel the same: 'I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I fear every day.'"
And from part 6/8: "My concern is not for @GretaThunberg’s feelings, but for the millions of Canadians and people in other countries who will be poorer, will suffer and have their lives upended if we let her and the movement she represents impose their radical ideas."
But WHY? From parts 1/8 through 3/8: "The goal of the green Left is to radically transform our society through hysterical fear that the end of the world is coming and we have no choice but to give up our freedoms and way of life. Their agenda is clear. Thunberg: 'We must change almost everything in our current society.'
"They want to make us poorer and restrict everything from housing, transportation, food, travel, and what we consume, to even having babies. They don’t care about democracy and say there is no time left for debate. Opposition or expression of doubt must be silenced. We must make those radical changes NOW."
Further reading: Click here to read all of M Bernier's 8 Tweets, posted on his Twitter account today, 2/9/19.
Some of the replies are worth noting. Challenging those who accused "Mad Max" of bullying an innocent child, Craig Tyler tweeted: "The only ones responsible for Greta’s current position are the people putting her there." Like who? Fingers are being pointed at... wait for it... (((George Soros))). Who else has the bucks to ferry her on a luxury yacht (solar- and wind-powered, of course) from Europe to New York? Well???

VIDEO: Pentagon to contract out military guard duties at the Capitol
The money doesn't actually go to the troops but to the governments of those countries. How much of the money actually finds its way into the soldiers' pockets is a mystery. But even if they got all of it, $1428 per month isn't a lot, is it. Compare that with the basic pay of an American soldier, sailor or airman. They probably get three or four times the salary of someone from, say, Chad. That thought, dear readers, engendered an idea in the tiny mind of someone at the CBO, who passed it on to the Pentagon.
Thus, in a brilliant cost-saving measure, the US military has decided to contract out non-combat duties to the armed forces of other countries. "Non-combat duties" include things like forming honour guards at places like the Capitol. "Other countries" includes the likes of the People's Republic of China. Effective today, the Chinese military will take over from American troops responsibilities for guarding the Capitol, the White House and other important sites.
Visitors who are paying attention will observe such ceremonies as the Mounting of the Guard being performed with more precision and efficiency, and at much lower cost. Yes, we have video.

Book review: "How De Body?", by Teun Voeten
The poke in the ribs to write "War is Africa's natural condition. Can we change that?" (WWW 16/10/18) came from How De Body? (St. Martin's Press, New York, 2002), Dutch journalist Teun Voeten's account of his terrifying journey through the very uncivil "civil" war in Sierra Leone (west Africa) in the late 1990s. "How de body?" is a customary greeting -- like "How's it going?" -- in Krio, the pidjin widely spoken in Sierra Leone. Mr Voeten apparently chose it as the title of his book because the bodies he saw and photographed -- and they were many -- were in pretty bad shape. His powerful photographs speak volumes about the sad state of Sierra Leone at the turn of the century, and of the nature of Africa itself. As I said yesterday, war is Africa's natural condition.
The purpose of the author's first trip to west Africa, in 1998, was to photograph and write about the child soldiers who were fighting on both sides of the conflict that had raged in Sierra Leone for nearly a decade. Mere boys (and girls too) like this one.
A scrawny kid like this, when carrying a Kalashnikov, can make a pretty big hole in you, and as the clash between the military junta and ECOMOG -- the West African peacekeepers -- raged around him, Mr Voeten was forced to hide in the bush, fearful of being robbed, tortured and/or killed by drug-crazed, gun-toting "soldiers" of either side.ECOMOG -- the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group -- was a west African multilateral armed force established by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The idea was that separate armies of Africans would work together to make and keep the peace in an African state. ("Nation" is the wrong word to use here. The concept of the nation state doesn't really exist in Africa, divided as it is by tribalism, language and religion.) To no-one's surprise, it didn't work very well, which is why the United Nations eventually felt compelled to involve itself in the conflict.
That didn't work very well either. Mr Voeten tells us that by 2000, "the situation in Sierra Leone...again deteriorated. The 25,000 UN peacekeepers that were stationed in the country...proved to be largely ineffective. Civil war flared up; cease-fires and treaties were broken, and...the fighting has spilled over the border to Guinea and Liberia."
But UN intervention, the globalists and progressives think to this day is better than leaving the Africans to exterminate one another. Hence the UN mission in Mali, which was the subject of yesterday's post.
What's wrong with Africa that bloody conflicts of the kind Teun Voeten saw up close and personal keep recurring? They seem to be unavoidable natural phenomena -- the work of evil "big men", full of ambition and greed, with no moral compass or concept of civilization to guide them. Mr Voeten quotes English cultural anthropologist Paul Richards: "What we are seeing in Sierra Leone is the total collapse of the nation-state. Criminal netyworks rush in to fill the power vacuum, which is an oasis of lawlessness and institutionalized corruption. Those networks have every reason to make sure the state of chaos continues. And vice versa."
Teun Voeten concludes How De Body? by saying that he won't give up on Sierra Leone. "Despite the difficulties," he writes, "I believe there is hope.... Eventually peace will come. ...'We just have to be patient.'"
I understand his feelings. Having lived there for years in the 1990s, I can attest to the saying that Africa gets in your blood ...sometimes literally, but forget about that. It's easy to love the land and the ordinary people, when they are left alone by foreign interventionists and by their own corrupt and cruel leaders.
Where I disagree with Mr Voeten is in thinking that the "big men" will give way to leaders like Nelson Mandela -- he was an exception -- or that the UN and the legions of western do-gooders will ever leave Africans to develop (or not) at their own pace and in their own way. I believe there is no hope for Africa, and that we westerners do Africa and ourselves a disservice by trying to change human nature.
Footnote: The Deutsche Welle website has a report from the World Bank, which sez (headline news!) "Poverty rates remain high in Africa". "Sub-Saharan Africa is the only region in the world where the overall number of extremely poor people is increasing rather than decreasing, according to the World Bank's latest Poverty and Shared Prosperity report." No kidding! But don't worry. The white folks at the World Bank believe things can be turned around, with their help of course. Just like Teun Voeten.

War is Africa's natural condition. Can we change that?
Right now there's a "civil" war going on in the Congo which was formerly known as Zaïre and has its capital at Kinshasa. The government's writ runs only in the capital region. The rest of the country is divided amongst a number of cruel and evil warlords, fighting for control of the immense mineral wealth that includes "blood diamonds". In spite of the efforts of United Nations "peacekeepers", the Congo has never, repeat never known peace since it was "liberated" from the Belgians.
In west Africa, most of which was (and in some ways still is) run by the French, another "civil" war rages in Mali. What? Never heard of it? If you've ever been told to go to Timbuktu, well, that's in Mali. You could look it up. That war has racial and religious overtones (surprised?) with the Muslim Arab(ish) north pitted against the Christian/animist African (read: black) south. The UN stepped in to referee that vicious conflict a couple of years ago, and so far hasn't had much luck keeping the combatants from each other's throats.
In June of this year, Canada's loopy prime minister Trudeau, in yet another act of virtue-signalling at the expense of his people, sent a couple of hundred Canadian troops to Mali, where Canada has no dog in the fight but is going to jump in anyway. The Canadian contingent consists of a few helicopters and support crews, whose task is to medevac other UN soldiers who get caught in the crossfire. So far they've flown exactly two (2) missions, both on 9/11.Yesterday Maj-Gen. Dave Fraser (Retd), who led Canada's troops in the ill-fated Afghanistan mission, admitted on CTV's Power Play that the Canuck peacekeeping mission in Mali has "no prospect of immediate success." He told host Don Martin, "The political overtones and what's going on in this country and this mission are ugly. This is not going to be short mission." No kidding!
Although Mr Socks promised that Canadian soldiers and airmen (not many female troops could be persuaded to go) would not be placed in harm's way, since they would only be flying medical evacuation missions and providing support from the skies, the likelihood of some poor non-com coming home in a body bag is increasing, as the security situation in the shithole has deteriorated sharply in recent months. Says the retired general, "It’s as bad, if not worse, than what we experienced in Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria."
Continuing in mililtary-speak, Maj-Gen. Fraser said, "It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that this mission isn’t going in the right direction from a trajectory point of view." He explained that the key issue is a lack of leadership. Despite no-worse-than-usual elections this summer, he said the insurgents are winning the fight on the ground. That's because "Peacekeeping can't be effective without a strong civilian government leadership that’s running the government, that's actually providing oversight for the military and the police forces and that’s not happening fast enough." For "fast enough", read "at all" and that's all ye need to know.
At the end of the day, the general warned, this hurts some people more than others. In a brilliant statement of the obvious, he said, "The local people are the ones who are going to be adversely affected." Can the problem be solved? Yes, says Maj-Gen. Fraser, if the United Nations changes its approach. "The UN's not getting the locals to get the leadership or the women engaged fast enough, and they're going to lose this race." If nothing changes, he said, the situation can only continue to deteriorate. So the answer to Walt's headline question is, errr, probably not. Which begs the question of what we're doing there!
Further reading: "Mal y soit qui Mali pense", 15/1/13. Kudos to Ed. for that brilliant headline, which only a monarchist would get!

Queen of the Franco-phonies loses job but keeps her head
As Walt explained in "A Haïtienne who won't be feeling too much pain" (13/1/10), the lovely and fragrant Ms Jean was (supposedly) a "refugee" from Haïti -- this was before the big earthquake -- who came to Canada as a teen and immediately attracted the attention of an older white guy (surprise!) who married her and got her a job at Radio Canada (the French arm of the CBC). Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin named her as the representative of Her Britannic Majesty because she (Ms Jean) was: a black, female "refugee", who was bilingual and a certified member of Canada's chattering classes. Too bad she wasn't disabled, but 5 out of 6 ain't bad.
The big question in 2010 was what to do with Ms Jean after her term as G-G expired? She had acquired a taste for the perqs of the vice-regal style -- the mansion, the limousine, the servants, and her very own regiment of soldiers. Hard to go back to living like a peasant. So favours were called in and, following the disastrous earthquake of 12 January 2010, Madame Jean (as she became) was appointed the United Nations "Special Ambassador for Haïti", to help raise money for the people of that wretched country.
Mme Jean immediately went to, errr, Paris, to establish an office and a residence suitable to her new position and regal lifestyle. After that she appeared on TV a few times -- notably on the CBC, of course -- but if she ever set her dainty feet in the dust of her native land, her visit went unrecorded. Ed. has asked Dr Google who has come up with nothing.
But every cloud has a silver lining. Since she was already comfortably ensconced in Paris, Mme Jean immediately began campaigning for a better job. With the support of both Canada and Québec, she was elected in 2014 as Secretary-General of la Francophonie, an international talking shop which likes to think of itself as the French equivalent of the British Commonwealth. Since the Franco-phony's mission is to talk and talk (in French) and do nothing (in any language), Mme Jean was the perfect fit.
Just as the British Commonwealth has its queen, so la Francophonie now had its queen, or empress... whatever... Mme Jean immediately moved into more palatial digs, racking up queen-sized expenses befitting her status. After all, the surrender-monkeys surely wouldn't want the head of their "organization" to lack anything that the British monarch had, would they?
After four years of wretched excess, Mme Jean's term came to an end this month. To no-one's surprise, Mme Jean refused to go gracefully, and campaigned hard for a second term, even though she was considered a long shot. She appealed to Canada and Québec for their support, and thought she had Canada's ultra-liberal Prime Minister Just In Trudeau -- an ardent feminist and admirer of non-white persons -- on her side.Sadly for Mme Jean, she was wrong. Last Friday the member nations of la Francophonie, meeting in the well-known French-speaking nation of Armenia [Eh? Ed.], chose a Rwandan, Louise Mushikiwabo, as their new queen/empress/secretary-general. The Rwandan politician said she did not intend to make major changes to the direction of the organization, but she promised more transparency in its spending. Errr, yes....
Some observers have said Canada made a geopolitical calculation in abandoning Jean in favour of the African candidate, hoping it would help its bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council in 2020. Mr Socks, however, denied that Canada abandoned Jean in exchange for African or French support for the Security Council bid, saying the government had wanted a second term for Jean.
"But at the same time we recognized — and it’s a question of simple math — that if there’s an African consensus around a particular candidate, we would respect that consensus," said the Canuck PM, who is himself likely to be turfed out in a year's time. "That is simply the way things unfolded." Errr, yes... yes indeed.

NYC bomb related to POTUS' recognizing Jerusalem as Israel capital?
NYPD and the FDNY confirmed to Fox News they are investigating reports of an explosion "of an unknown origin" near 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue. Police tweeted A, C, E subways lines are being evacuated. NYC Office of Emergency Management also tweeted there was "police activity" near West 42nd Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues and advised commuters to expect delays.
I'm listening to the rangdeedio right now, hoping to learn more. Another source says the explosion was caused by a pipe bomb in a walkway or tunnel under the bus terminal. No word yet on the citizenship, ethnicity or religion of the person taken into custody. Of course that person may or not be the bomber, and may or may not be named "Mohammed" something or other.
Regardless of whether or not the perp is an Islamic extremist, I predict the bombing (if that's what it was) will be blamed by the lamestream media, Democrats and other anti-Trumpers on POTUS' statement last week that the US of A officially recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel. (Lifetime pct .986.) A lot of people -- Western politicians as well as bitter Palestinians and fanatical Muslims -- seem to be pretty worked up about this, so let's examine it.Regular readers should know that I hold no brief for Israel or the Jews. Any reasonably astute observer of the politics and economics of America and the rest of the West should know, too, that the things that really matter -- banks and the monetary system, the lamestream media, even the entertainment industry -- are controlled by international Jewry. One of the most powerful political groups in the USA, and Washington in particular, is the Jewish lobby. Both openly and secretly, Jews provide major funding to both the Democrats and Republicans. No matter who's in power, you will never never find the nominal rulers of America challenging or even criticizing Israel.
Israel is, when you think about it, the creation of Adolf Hitler. Lots of Jews -- maybe not 6 million, but lots -- died or were displaced in World War II, and the victorious Allies, suffering badly from Christian guilt, decided that something must be done for those who survived. Like giving them their Promised Land. Not a chunk of Europe, of course, but some other land, inhabited (if at all) by less deserving people. And so, out of a barren territory called Palestine, the United Nations carved the "Zionist entity" known as Israel.
Speaking yesterday at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, (((Benjamin Netanyahu))), the President of Israel, said that Jerusalem has for 1000s of years been "the capital of the Jewish state." You could look it up, he said. "It's in the Bible." That is true if one speaks of the homeland of the Jews in the religious sense, but only partially true if one looks at world politics and international law.
A century ago, as World War I drew to a close, the territory in question was part of the Ottoman Empire, the Turkish-ruled "sick man of Europe". When the sick man lay dying, the Great Powers -- Britain and France, in this case -- carved up the Middle East between them. You can find a reference to the Sykes-Picot agreement of 1916 in the movie Lawrence of Arabia. Britain's share included the land of Palestine, which had been a southern part of Syria. (The French got the northern part of Syria -- lucky them.) The British mandatory territory of Palestine was established by the League of Nations, and existed from 1920 until 1948, with its capital at Jerusalem.
Under the 1947 UN Partition Plan to divide Palestine into Jewish and Arab states, Jerusalem was meant to be placed under international sovereignty and control. It was granted special status based on its importance to the three Abrahamic religions -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam. As so often happens in that awful part of the world, war broke out following the UN's recommendation, and in 1948 Zionist forces took control of the western half of Jerusalem and declared the territory part of its state.
Not quite two decades later there was another war between the Arabs and Israelis, worse for the Arabs than the first. During the Six-Day War, Israel captured the eastern half of Jerusalem, which was under Jordanian control at the time, and effectively annexed it by extending Israeli law, bringing it directly under Israeli jurisdiction. This is what lawyers call de facto jurisdiction, meaning an administration or government that holds power as a matter of fact, not necessarily as a matter of law.
Having thus had de facto control of all of Jerusalem since 1967, the Israeli government, in 1980, Israel passed the "Jerusalem Law", stating that "Jerusalem, complete and united, is the capital of Israel", thereby formalising its annexation of East Jerusalem. And that's how the situation stands today, as far as the state of Israel is concerned. Until President Trump's announcement, no other country -- well, none that counts -- acknowledged... or denied... the validity of the Jerusalem Law. Most countries -- the ones that count -- maintain their embassies and other missions in Tel Aviv, the capital ordered by the UN Partition Plan, which still remains Israel's commercial capital.
What the anti-Trumpers aren't admitting is that the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is not an idea that sprang fully formed out of President Trump's mind. Egged on by the powerful Zionist lobby (see above), the 104th Congress passed, on 23 October 1995, the Jerusalem Embassy Act, signed into law by the unimpeachable President William Jefferson Clinton.
The purpose of the Jerusalem Embassy Act was to initiate and fund the relocation of the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. That was to be done by 31 May 1999, at the latest. The Act also calls for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city and for it to be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel. You can look it up!
For reasons which we can only guess, Presidents Clinton, Bush II, and Obama, ignored the wishes of Congress and the law of the land, and refused to implement the Jerusalem Embassy Act. Their excuse was that the Act was a Congressional infringement on the executive branch's constitutional authority over foreign policy. All three of them consistently claimed the presidential waiver on national security interests.
President Trump signed the waiver in June 2017, but apparently changed his mind some time later and decided to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital -- which it is, as a matter of fact -- and begin the relocation of the US embassy, as required by American law. If any political scientist or constitutional scholar can advance a good argument for doing otherwise, I would like to hear it.
Footnote: Quod scripsi, scripsi. But I still like the illustration Ed. chose for this piece. My preference would be to see Jerusalem declared an international city, the capital of neither Israel nor the proposed separate Palestinian state. I fear that solution is too sensible, too peaceful to be accepted by the extremists, whether Zionist or Islamist. I expect the war of words... and worse... to continue.

Zimbabwean dictator appointed to, then removed from WHO post
The farce began on Wednesday in Uruguay, at a high-level WHO meeting to discuss non-communicable diseases. Comrade Bob had commandeered Air Zimbabwe's sole airworthy B-767 to attend, causing his countrymen to scratch their heads in wonderment, even though they have gotten used to their Dear Leader's peripatetic lifestyle, which has bankrupted the national airline and put a huge strain on the Zim treasury, which is now printing "bond notes" to cover its lack of real money.
Turns out the reason for the trip to a place few Africans have even heard of was that an "arrangement" had been made with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, an Ethiopian recently appointed to the position, to appoint Mr Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador, out of respect for his government's devotion to providing free healthcare for all. Mr Ghebreyesus said he thought Mr Mugabe would be the ideal person to "to influence his peers in his region."
Many observers outside the Dark Continent (including yr obdt servant, who lived in Zimbabwe in the 1990s) thought the appointment must be a huge joke, given that Mr Mugabe is "peerless", in the sense that he has no equal for corruption, despotism and (alas!) longevity. He has ruled Zimbabwe since 1980, when the cowardly Brits sold out the "white settler régime" of Ian Smith and gave the former Rhodesia "majority rule" under the one-man-one-vote system.
The one man who has the one vote is Comrade Bob, who is 93 years old, but intends to stand for re-election next year, even if his lovely and fragrant wife Grace has to push him to the polls in his wheelchair. "Hendiende" is chiShona (the main local language) for "I won't go!"
The USA, Canada and a host of other countries, including Not-so-great Britain, were quick to criticize the WHO appointment. Canuck Prime Minister Justin "Junior" Trudeau called it a belated April Fool's joke. Donors and human rights groups expressed outrage. Comrade Bob, they noted, has for years been going overseas for medical treatment as Zimbabwe's once-prosperous economy (in the bad old colonial days) falls apart. He is not alone. Just last month, Vice-President Emerson Mnangagwa thought he'd been poisoned by eating bad ice cream from the Mugabe family's Gushongo Dairy, and hied himself off to South Africa to have his stomach pumped.
No Zimbabwean with any money trusts the country's decrepit healthcare system. As long ago as 2008, the charity Physicians for Human Rights released a report documenting failures in the system, saying that Mr Mugabe's policies had led to a man-made crisis. "The government of Robert Mugabe presided over the dramatic reversal of its population's access to food, clean water, basic sanitation and health care," the group found, adding that its policies led directly to "the shuttering of hospitals and clinics, the closing of its medical school and the beatings of health workers."
Today the WHO Director-General said in a statement, posted on his Twitter account @DrTedros, that he had listened to those expressing concerns. "Over the last few days, I have reflected on my appointment of H.E. President Robert Mugabe as WHO Goodwill Ambassador for NCDs in Africa. As a result I have decided to rescind the appointment."
Walt's comment: The appointment of the Zimbabwean dictator reflects everything that's wrong not just with Zimbabwe, not just with Africa, but with the World Health Organization and its mother "organization", the United Nations. The UN is nothing more than a powerless, self-serving talking shop, dominated by the beggars of the Third World, whose "diplomats" line their pockets and enjoy the luxurious, jet-setting lifestyle while their countrymen starve in squalor. The AABC countries (America, Australia, Britain and Canada) would do well to withdraw their financial support and leave the whole stinking mess to rot.

How Obama fooled the Jews and took their money
This week the Security Council of the (Dis)united Nations voted to condemn the illegal seizure by the Jewish state (Israel) of Palestinian lands in Jerusalem and the occupied Left Bank. Much to the chagrin of the powerful Zionist lobby in Washington, the USA abstained, even though its veto would have defeated the resolution. The Jews are predictably furious, accusing President 0 and his minion, John Kerry, of betraying them. This after all the Jews did for Obama and the Democrats. Israel's enemies dream of destroying the Jewish state as the first phase of establishing a global caliphate. Now Obama has now encouraged that dream, and the Jews are rending their garments.
The Jewish Federations across North America (JFNA) issued a statement saying it was "deeply disappointed" that the US did not veto the UN motion. The refusal to do so, they said, "undermined a core principle of American foreign policy that has been embraced by Democratic and Republican Administrations for decades." Moreover, they said it was "tragic that the [Obama] Administration chose to mar its legacy of support for the Jewish State and set back the prospects for Israeli-Palestinian peace."
The Orthodox Union joined the JFNA at the wailing wall, announcing that it was "gravely disappointed" with the Prez. Not vetoing the motion, they said, "undermined his legacy" and was an "unprecedented and deeply disturbing break from the past."
The leaders of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations said that there was "no justification or explanation that validates the United States failure to veto the one-sided, offensive resolution adopted by the Security Council," and that the "United States vote will be seen as a betrayal of the fundamentals of the special relationship" between Israel and America.
One of the loudest cries of anger and anguish came from famed criminal lawyer (((Alan Dershowitz))), a lifelong supporter of the Democratic Party, Barry Obama and, yes, Shrillery Clinton. Mr Dershowitz defended Mr Obama in the court of public opinion when people said the Prez was, if not a practising Muslim, at least an anti-Semite. Now it seems the bromance is over.
In "How Barack Obama fooled the Jews and betrayed them once he had their money" (National Post, 30/12/16), (((Lawrence Solomon))) writes that Mr Dershowitz "finally sees the evidence that had been in plain sight all along, and now understands the extent of Obama's deception. It was 'so nasty. He pulled a bait-and-switch', he says, explaining how Obama in private pretended that it was 'the settlements deep in the West Bank' that were negotiable, not the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem, so core to Judaism and to Israel’s heritage."
Mr Solomon presents another, even more trenchant quote. "'(President Obama) called me into the Oval Office before the election and he said to me, 'Alan, I want your support. And I have to tell you, I will always have Israel's back.' I didn't realize that what he meant was that he'd have (Israel's) back to stab them in the back."
The article goes on to explain that winning Jewish support wasn't especially important to Obama and other Democrats in terms of votes. Jews represent just 2% of the American electorate, so they don't count for much at the ballot box. But Jews are huuugely important — even decisive — when it comes to political donations. The Jews are overwhelmingly liberal, and their 2% of the voting population accounts for about two-thirds of all donations received by the Democratic Party. Putting it another way, Jews donate twice as much to Democrats as the 98% of voters who are non-Jews.
The importance of Jewish money to Democratic fortunes (Mr Solomon writes) explains why Mr Obama waited to make his moves against Israel until after his two presidential campaigns and the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton, who he hoped would preserve his legacy. If Jews had understood his real intentions toward Israel, Mr Obama knew, they would have stopped writing cheques.
Walt predicts that it will take the Democrats at least a generation to recover from B. Hussein Obama's betrayal of their rich and powerful Zionist benefactors. Jews don’t like being made fools of, especially in public, especially by someone of Mr Obama's complexion!

UPDATED: Obama and Trudeau tell UN "Let's all be nice to each other"
Sadly for their countries, the two amigos share not just a love of the adoration of the masses, but liberal, one-world views on globalization, free trade, refugees and immigrants (especially Muslims), and the war on The Enemy Which Cannot Be Named (especially Muslims). Now that President Obama is the lamest duck of all, Justin ("Himself Redux") is bidding fair to become the leader of the forces of liberalism, secular humanism and the war for "social justice". To him, from President 0's failing hands, the torch of progressivism is about to be thrown. (The Prez's preferred recipient, Hellery Clinton, is, alas, not guaranteed to be well enough to lift her arms high enough to make the catch.)
Messrs Obama and Trudeau were in the Big Apple this week to case a few pearls before the swine at the Disunited Nations. Some have suggested that Ahmed Khan Rahami was out to get the Prez when he planted his little bomb in Chelsea. (Shoulda used a GPS, Ahmed!) If he had, the assembled parasites would have been spared a speech in which POTUS actually admitted that his country was going to have to give up its "freedom of action" and "bind itself to international rules". If you think Walt is making this up, click here. Don't say you weren't warned.
Here's part of what Ted Cruz had to say about Mr Obama's suggestion that the US surrender to the Islamists. "At the United Nations today, President Obama took to the podium to once again blame the United States for the woes of the world. He suggested our country is just one of many that need to get beyond the old divisions of nationality. He chided those who would limit the inflow of refugees from nations infiltrated by Islamic terrorists as ignorant bigots, predicted climate change would destroy countries and cause mass conflicts, and referred to Israel as an occupying power. Mr. Obama would have done much better to use this opportunity to advance an American agenda, not a global one."
Mr Obama's speech was a pretty hard act to follow -- or swallow -- but M Trudeau tried out his "sunny ways" shtick on a half-empty General Assembly. In an article headlined "Mission accomplished: Trudeau wins over UN with strange speech full of liberal platitudes", John Ivison writes: "The lesson from both Obama and Trudeau is that if everyone just did more nice things, and not so many awful things, things would be much nicer." That's all ye know and all ye need to know.
