Poor Len sees the Canadiens in his crystal ball... but dimly

Ed. here. National Hockey League playoffs begin in three weeks, roughly (geddit?), so I call on our National Sports (read: Hockey) Editor, Poor Len Canayen, to give us an assessment of how Canada's team, the Montréal Canadiens, are likely to do... if they make it that far.

Tank youse, Hed. I assure you that when the NHL's Northern (read: Canadian) Division playoffs start, les Canadiens seront là! At least, that's how the standings look this morning. The Habs are in 4th place, 4 points ahead of the Calgary Flames, but with a game in hand. If the order of finish at the end of this shortened season is the same then as now, the Canadiens will meet first-place Toronto in a match-up long dreamed of by frostback fans.

It's getting from here to there that's going to be the problem. Les Glorieux  have games tonight and tomorrow night, at le Centre Bell, against the Winnipeg Jets and the last-place Ottawa Senators. They face the Maple Leafs on Monday night. They need to win at least one of those game, and even against the Sens they face a challenge.

Why? Because the Habs are without five (count `em - 5) of their regular players.
Goalie Carey Price is recovering from a concussion. He has started working out at the gym but hasn't laced on the skates, and may be out until playoff time. That leaves Jake Allen to carry the load, with perhaps one start going to rookie backup Cayden Primeau

Allen has been playing well enough, except when he tries to handle the puck behind the net. It's lack of offence that's the problem. In the last four games, the Habs have scored a measly seven (count `em - 7) goals. They are the only team currently in a playoff position with a negative +/- goal count.

Where are the guys who are supposed to put the puck in the net? Brendan Gallagher, the heart and soul of la Sainte Flannelle, is nursing a broken thumb. He's skating but won't be available until the playoffs. Tomas "Tuna" Tatar, who normally plays on the other side of the first line, is day-to-day with a "lower body injury".  So is shifty speedster Paul Byron, also one of the key players on the penalty kill.

The fifth missing member is Jonathan Drouin, the superstar who never was. He has taken a leave of absence "for personal reasons". Clearly he needs some respite from the pressure that only Québécois playing in Montréal truly feel. We wish him well. The good news is that the Habs have finally been able to insert in the lineup rookie Cole Caulfield, just arrived from a great season in US college hockey. While he has yet to score in the two games he's appeared in, signs of greatness are there.

So... every game between now and end of the season is crucial, and every one looks like being a nail-biter. Getting into the playoffs will be a win for the wounded Canadiens. Don't look for more than that when they meet Austin Matthews & Co. (the Leafs). If they can win one or two games of that first series, that will be triumph enough. Bon match, les gars... et bonne chance!

MAGA rallies WILL be revived this year

Although the Montana Testicle Festivals will not resume this year (see previous post), Walt does have some good news about events which many of our readers have attended in the past, and will want to attend again, perhaps as soon as next month!

According to numerous sources, including Breitbart News, former President Donald Trump is planning to bring back his famous "Make America Great Again" political rallies.

Since their inception in 2015, Mr Trump’s record-setting political rallies have allowed his supporters to express their enthusiasm for his political agenda and his willingness to be politically incorrect.

The former president is emerging as a focal point of opposition to the Biden-Harris radical leftest, one-world agenda, much more so than the RINOs who have tried to distance themselves from his political brand after the fake election of 2020.

Even though he has not announced plans to run for president again in 2024, he said in a recent interview, "I am looking at it very seriously, beyond seriously." As a first step, he told podcaster Dan Bongino yesterday, President Trump confirmed he would do another political rally in the future. "We'll do one soon," he said. "They [his supporters] love the rallies." Indeed we do. Don't keep us waiting too long!

Montana Testicle Festival will not be revived this year

Walt regrets to advise that plans to restart the annual Testicle Festival, notorious for drinking, nudity, debauchery and tens of thousands of Rocky Mountain oysters, have come a cropper, due in part to concerns over holding a potential kung flu "super-spreader" event.

The festival ran at various locales in Montana for 35 years, ending with the 2017 event at Clinton, after two people were killed and seven injured when a man who had been kicked out of the event and put on a shuttle back to Missoula allegedly grabbed the wheel, causing the Jeep to roll.

Over the years, the Testicle Festival generated more than its fair share of fights, drunken driving and fatal crashes. Captain Jim Kitchin of the Montana Highway Patrol was one of six troopers who responded to the fatal crash on the night of 5 August 2017.

He told The Missoulian that from a traffic safety standpoint alone, he was glad when the proprietor of Rock Creek Lodge, where the festival was last held, had decided to pull the plug. "It saves my troopers a lot of heartache, not having to go out there and be pulling dead people off the road," he said. "I will applaud his decision not to do that anymore."

Where are we now?

I looked at this rather complex Venn diagram and under the "instersectionality" [Aha! Caught you using that buzzword! Ed.] of everything except "Gattaca", which I'd never heard of before. Turns out it's a movie, which appeared in 1997, while I was in darkest Africa.

The summary on IMDb says (only): A genetically inferior man assumes the identity of a superior one in order to pursue his lifelong dream of space travel. Elsewhere, I read: The film Gattaca explores themes of genetic manipulation, freedom of self-determination, and eugenics, the practice of advocating for the genetic improvement of the human species through selective reproduction.

Hmmm. "Selective reproduction". That would include sex-selective abortion, I suppose. I understand now why it's included in the diagram. Must get hold of a copy.

Triumphs of Biden's first 100 days: Canadians to snap up US shares; menthol cigarettes to be banned; and so much more!

Last night, before a joint session of Congress, the fraudulently elected President of the Paranoid States of America mounted a campaign-style attack on Ronald Reagan, whom he seems to think he beat last November. He also gave himself an hour-long pat on the back for all the big announcements he's made in the first 100 days of his presidensity.

Sleepy Joe bragged about plans to spend over a TRILLION dollars -- raised by mortgaging America's future -- to get the economy moving again, so Americans can all enjoy a cookout on July 4th.** Part of the money has been earmarked for the purchase of new printing presses, as the existing ones are already showing the strain of printing so many banknotes and cheques of diminishing value.

Value is measured by the worth of the once-mighty greenback against other currencies. In November of 2020 it took 75 American cents to buy one lousy Canadian dollar. This morning, if you want a "loonie", it'll cost you nearly 82 cents in real money. You'll find out next time you go to Niagara Falls!

As surely as day follows night, more reckless government spending is followed by higher taxes. Mr Biden-Harris seems very happy to "tax the rich". Unfortunately raising capital gains tax will hit the small investor [like me with my 100 shares of Tesla. Ed.] just as much as the vile Koch Bros who helped get Sleepy Joe elected.

What Mr Biden-Harris apparently doesn't realize is that his proposed hikes to corporate and capital-gains taxes could compel family-owned US companies to sell their businesses, creating opportunities for foreigners -- especially those greedy Canucks -- to make cross-border acquisitions.

Sleepy Joe's alleged plan would reverse President Trump's 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which slashed the top corporate income tax rate from 35% to 21% . The Biden-Harris plan will raise the rate back up to 28%.
The levy on long-term capital gains will rise to 39.6%, up from the current 20%. The unintended (?) consequence will be family-owned enterprises cashing out before the Biden-Harris shit-hammer crashes down. Smart, eh?

But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more! The Biden-Harris administration is set to alienate millions of Americans who voted for them -- voters of the coloured persuasion (aka BIPOCs) -- by banning the sale of menthol cigarettes!

The Food and Drug Administration says that 19.5 million Americans, most of them younger and, errr, darker, smoke menthol cigarettes.  Among black smokers, 85.8% smoke menthols, compared with 28.7% of smokers of paler complexion.

Right on cue, the SJWs -- the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, etc etc -- warned that the move to ban menthol cigarettes "would disproportionately impact communities of color, result in criminalization of the market, and exacerbate mass incarceration," according to a letter sent this week to HHS Secretary and Chief Prosecutor of Nuns Xavier Becerra.

The ACLU and other groups claim the ban on menthol smokes has the potential to create "large underground, illegal markets.... In addition, underground cigarette sales would be a massive law enforcement problem for states, counties, and cities, since all states treat unlicensed sale of tobacco products as a crime – usually as a felony punishable by imprisonment."

The letter goes on to say that "in the end, tobacco policy will no longer be the responsibility of regulators regulating, but police policing." Do they mean that the police, who aren't allowed to arrest black rioters and looters, are going to feel the collars of POCs selling smokes on street corners?

Oh yes, sez the ACLU. "'Our experience with alcohol, opioid, and cannabis prohibition teaches us that that is a policy disaster waiting to happen, with Black and other communities of color bearing the brunt." Well, at least no-one will be able to accuse Biden-Harris of being soft on crime!

Footnote: Even CNN's Anderson Cooper noticed that Mr Biden-Harris barely mentioned the little problem at America's southern border, and clearly has no clue about what to do about it. See "Axelrod: Biden 'Didn't Offer a Solution' for His 'Biggest Problem' at the U.S.-Mexico Border" (referencing remarks by David Axelrod, former advisor to the Prez), Breitbart News, 29/1/21.

VIDEO (for Catholics): Serious (and sad) thoughts for a Sunday

Dr Taylor Marshall discusses a recent statement by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, in which the prelate accuses the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church -- "heretical and depraved modernists" -- of trying to turn Holy Mother Church, the Bride of Christ, into a philanthropical organization like the Rotary Club or the United Nations.

Let us pray that God will intervene to protect His Church from Her enemies. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Footnote for the Catholic faithful: Have you been lazy... not paying attention to the crisis in the Church? If you understand and agree with what Archbishop Vigano, Archbishop Sheen, Dr Taylor and so many others are saying... if you are afraid for our Church... wake up and speak up! Copy the URL and send this to your pastor and to all others who are blindly following the leadership of Jorge Bergoglio into heresy and damnation.

Further viewing: Click here to hear Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper, discuss the upcoming Vatican conference mentioned by Dr Marshall in this video. How seriously (Mr Matt asks) should we be taking "Pope Francis the Globalist"? Really!

Canadian government budget statement

As a service to our Canadian readers, who may not have heard or understood the Liberal government's budget, released last week, we repost the statement released the next day by Chrystia Freeland, the lady in the tight red dress and also alleged Minister of Finance.

VIDEO: Jordan Peterson predicts the imminent death of MSM

Earlier this week Walt listed the Top 5 American sources of fake news, and gave you some alternatives outside of the "legacy media" (aka controlled media), which I call now the lickspittle media.

The good news is that the mainstream media can also be called the moribund media. They're dieing, even as we watch [and laugh. Ed.]. Readership and viewership are down, right across the board. Newspapers are folding [geddit? Ed.] or at least closing their print editions. People no longer watch network news while they eat their TV dinners. [What's TV? Ed.] Even Fox News has lost millions of viewers since their betrayal of President Trump.

In this short (<10 minutes) video, Dr Jordan Peterson discusses why the mainstream media is losing support, why CNN, The New York Times, ABC, BBC and more are so dead to millennials that their death hasn't even been noticed.

What's taking their place? Is the podcast platform going to continue to grow? Will TikTok take over? What is Jordan Peterson's prediction for politicians going on podcasts? Listen and think...

Walt's easy-peasy solution to "white police killing of POC"

Random (sorta) thoughts on yesterday's verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the evil racist ex-cop who (the jury found) killed Saint George Floyd, a paragon of his community whose "tragic loss" diminishes all of us... present company excepted. [I hope so. Ed.]

First of all, I don't know how the jury could have found other than it did, given the intense pressure from the lickspittle media and all correct-thinking Americans, up to and including Sleepy Joe hisself. A prudent president might have said "Let the courts do their work." The incumbent said "I hope we get the right verdict, and I'll be calling Mr Floyd's family as soon as Chauvin is found guilty."

And don't tell me the jury was unaware of the demands being made on them by all and sundry, including the likes of Mad Maxine Waters, who stopped just short of calling for rioting and looting if Mr Chauvin wasn't convicted. Isn't that what "taking it to the streets" means, to people of the coloured persuasion? "Reparations shopping", anyone?

What surprised me was the conviction of Mr Chauvin on all three counts. My legal advisor, Agent 3, practised in another jurisdiction, where typically the state makea a practice of "overcharging" -- throwing two or more charges at an accused and hoping that one will stick, or that the accused will plead to the lighter charge rather than take a chance. In the Chauvin case, the defence did offer to pleade to third-degree murder, but the state went ahead with all three.

Was the fix in, already? I don't understand how someone can be guilty of three distinct offences arising out of the same occurrence. I can almost understand the distinction between Murder 2 and Murder 3, but I always thought murder and manslaughter, requiring a finding of the intention of the accused, could not be the same thing. I would expect that to be one of the ground of the upcoming appeal.

The main ground, to my mind, will be that the jury was prejudiced by the intensely anti-cop, pro-BLM coverage of the lickspittle media, as well as a settlement in the civil case brought by George Floyd's family.

Two weeks before testimony in the Chauvin trial began, but while jury selection was in progress, the city of Minneapolis agreed to pay $27 million to settle a civil lawsuit brought by the Floyd family over Saint George's death, making him worth a helluva lot more in death than he ever was or would have been in life. [By rights they ought to give part of the money to Mr Chauvin! Ed.]

Mr Chauvin's attorney said the settlement had an "incredible propensity to taint a jury pool," but Judge Peter Cahill rejected the defence request to delay the trial because of the settlement.

The defence may also argue, on appeal, that Judge Cahill's decision to hold the trial in Minneapolis was wrong, and virtually ensured a conviction. The defence had argued it was impossible to find an impartial jury in the city, which was rocked by "mostly peaceful protests" over Mr Floyd's death. Judge Cahill thought that since the case was already one of the most scrutinized in American history, moving it wouldn't make much of a difference.

But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more.... Late in the trial, another case of what the lickspittle media called "white police murder of a black p0erson" occurred in a suburb of Minneapolis.  Brooklyn Center MN cops shot and killed Daunte Wright, a motorist stopped (the meeja says) for DWB (Driving While Black).

Mad Maxine Waters (D-CA) flew to Brooklyn Center [on her broom? Ed.] over the weekend -- the weekend before jury deliberations were to start! -- and urged protesters "to get more confrontational" if Derek Chauvin was found not guilty. On Monday, Judge Cahill called her comments "abhorrent", but denied a defence request for a mistrial. "I'll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result on this whole trial being overturned." Let us hope so!

Meanwhile, in Columbis OH, just as the Chauvin verdict was being announced, police held a presser at which they released bodycam footage of a white cop shooting a black girl who, it appeaered, was trying to stab two people with a knife. A black-handled blade resembling a kitchen knife or steak knife was in clear view lying on the sidewalk next to her immediately after she was shot. She was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

While we wait for the next act in the evil white cops vs saintly BIPOCs drama, Walt has a suggestion which might accomplish... peacefully... the "complete change in politicing in America" called for by Michael Moore [Who he? Ed.] and other leftist paragons of virtue. The idea sprang into my mind when Mrs Walt asked how many white people had been killed by black cops -- a question for which I have no answer.

My idea is this. Since all the trouble seems to arise in interracial "interactions" -- everything in the Excited States of America comes down to race -- why not establish separate (but equal!) police forces for separate (but absolutely equal!) races?

According to my brilliant plan, a caller to 9-1-1 would be asked if the persons involved are Persons of Colour (POCs). If the answer is yes, POCs (Policepersons of Colour) would be despatched. That way, any tragic deaths which might ensue could not be put down to racism.

But wait... there's a bonus. My plan would require the hiring of many ore POCs (Policepersons of Colour), thus putting paid to complaints that POCs (People of Colour) are under-represented in America's police forces. Black cops for black communities! It's an inspired idea, the real beauty party being that the Al Sharptons and AOCs of this world can't argue against it without admitting that People of Colour are incapable of policing themselves!

Further reading: "Joe Biden and Maxine Waters Deliberately Sought Mistrial in Derek Chauvin Case", by John Nolte, in Breitbart News, 21/4/21.

Footnote: You think the idea of segregated communities policing themselves is crazy or racist or both? Well, they already do that in parts of Canada, where First Nations (Americans read: Native Indian) reserves (Americans read: reservations) are policed by First Nations police. You could look it up.

Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! (WTF...)

Ed. here. Walt has been violently ill since hearing a white news anchorette say that today's verdict cann't "take away the sorrow of having George Floyd no longer with us."

Walt may have something to say tomorrow. Or not. As the case may be....

Top 5 American sources of fake news

Here's a meme that pretty much sums things up, taken from "CNN Introduces Segment Where They Rant About What Trump Would Have Tweeted If He Hadn't Gotten Kicked Off Of Twitter"

How about the rest of the world? In Canada, Germany and the Disunited Kingdom, the news sources you can distrust the most are those owned by the all-powerful state. They may pretend to operate at arm's length -- the CBC (Canadian Broadcorping Castration) is a so-called "independent crown corporation -- but they know who signs the paycheques.

Walt recommends (mostly for Americans): NTD News Today. And of course Breitbart... For Canadians and Americans: Blazing Cat Fur ... and keep reading WWW!

The truth is not out there. There truth is here!

Queen Elizabeth: lost without Prince Philip (1963 version)

As noted earlier today, I've been looking through some back issues of the British satirical magazine Private Eye, which I read assiduously for decades after discovering it on a visit to Not-so-great Britain in 1963. This is the cover from one of the early issues (No. 41) which I brought home with me.

On the cover date, 12 July 1963, I was en route to France to be there for Bastille Day on the 14th. Apparently I missed a spot of local (?) trouble, viz. the visit to London Her Majesty Queen Frederika of Greece. Born Frederica of Hanover (Friederike Luise Thyra Victoria Margarita Sophia Olga Cecilia Isabella Christa), she was Queen consort of Greece from 1947 until 1964 as the wife of King Paul.

Her visit to the UK caused some little fuss because, according according to Wikipedia, Queen Frederika was thought to be "inherently undemocratic". [Imagine a queen being undemocratic! Ed.] She was "notorious for her numerous arbitrary and unconstitutional interventions in Greek politics and clashes with democratically elected governments....

"At home in Greece and abroad in the United Kingdom, she was targeted by the opposition. In 1963 while visiting London, rioting by Greek leftists demonstrating against the situation with the political prisoners of the Greek civil war, forced her to temporarily seek refuge in a stranger's house." I'm not sure if that's a reference to Buckingham Palace, but that's the story behind the Eye cover.

Ads that are no longer acceptable

AUDIO: Victor Davis Hanson talks about the causes of Civil War v. 2.0

Some people say a second Civil War is coming... soon. Some say it's already here -- if not a shooting war, at least the culture war which is already being fought throughout the Excited States of America. What will it take to turn today's war of words into an honest-to-goodness armed conflict?

Victor Davis Hanson is an American classicist, military historian, columnist, and farmer. He has been a commentator on modern and ancient warfare and contemporary politics for National Review, the Washington Times, and other media outlets. In this podcast (audio only) he talks about the changes in American society that have occurred in the last decade which make Civil War v. 2.0 almost inevitable. Listen carefully.

Please note that I said "almost inevitable". Towards the end of this podcast, Mr Hanson says a shooting war can still be averted if we can avoid doing the things -- he lists them -- that caused the shooting to start in in 1861.

Although the time is late, each of us, he says, can do a lot to stop things from getting to that point. The one thing Mr Hanson forgot to mention is the power of prayer. Don't forget to pray: God save America!

How's the weather today?

Haven't we seen this movie before?

"At the beginning of this period, there was music and drinking, noisy entertainers and crowds of prostitutes, a time of foolery and joking, effeminacy, and chasing ater transvestites.

"All pleasures, whether forbidden or not, were available and the voice of the spiritual authorities grew indistinct, drowned out in the uproar of partying.

"People got used to vice and forgot to promote what was decent, for the mirrors of their hearts could no longer reflect a virtuous face -- so much so, that when the catastrophe happened and socierty was torn apart, it was no longer capable of being mended."

Shakir Khan, a contemporary nobleman, describes social conditions at the time of the fall of the Mughal empire in India, c. 1740 AD. Quoted in The Anarchy: The East India Comopany, Corporate Violence, and the Pillage of an Empire, by William Dalrymple, Bloomsbury Publishing, 2019.

It was under the emperor Muhammad Shah Rangeela that the degeneration of the Mughal empire began in earnest, as did the decadence and degeneration of Muslim society in India. His pleasure-loving and merry-making pursuits expedited the process of downfall of the empire.

When the Persian Nadir Shah invaded India in 1739, he found the Mughal army in complete disarray, defeating them easily in the battle of Karnal. There followed the massacre of hundreds of thousands, unprecedented looting, rapine and plunder.

Nadir Shah took away billions of dollars (in today's money) of treasure, as well as the Peacock Throne. He left Mughal Empire impotent and vulnerable to complete decomposition. It never recover its glory and power. All that remains of the Mughal empire in India are a few crumbling ruins to be seen in Delhi and elsewhere, as well as the famous Taj Mahal, which is also crumbling.

UPDATED: The point of "I've got a little list..."

NOTE FROM ED., posted 16/4/21. A reader, Ben Tobox of Bowlegs OK (you can look it up), didn't get the point of our reposting of the People's Cube's  list of people that the Antifa and other extreme liberal types would like to censor, since they can't actually execute them.

I encourage you, Ben, and all our readers, to read the list, name by name. There may be some names you don't recognize, just as Walt didn't know the name of Thomas Sowell until recently. If you find such a name, like John Kennedy (for instance), Google him/her and see what you can find. Maybe you'll find a blog with some worthwhile reading.

Or search the name on YouTube and find a video like this one, in which Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) tries to find out what "systemic racism" means. Keep your eyes, ears and minds open. That's the point.

In the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta The Mikado, the Lord High Executioner sings "I've got a little list", a patter song of those who could be executed "and surely won't be missed." That's what they did in medieval Japan. In today's Excited States of America, we don't execute those we are afraid of. We just impeach them!

Whether you intend to execute your enemies or just "cancel" them by censorship (sometimes known as "fact-checking") or impeachment, you need a list -- a fecal roster -- right?

The People's Cube has started one, to which all progressive liberal socialist Dumbocrats are encouraged to contribute. If you're on the right side [Geddit? Ed.],  you might want to check to see if you name is on the SJW/BLM/Antifa list.

Executive Purge Nominees

Trump-Hitler (already in progress), Bush-Hitler (just to close the loop), George H. W. Bush (exhume because he only served one term), Gerald Ford (exhume so SNL can get some funny jokes), Mike Pence, all members of Trump’s family (looking at you, Barron).

Hope Hicks, Kayleigh McEnany, and all of Newsmax's 30 Most Influential Republicans Under 30, Mike Lindell. Sarah Palin, Michelle Malkin, Jim DeMint, Michele Bachmann, Ron DeSantis, Kristi Noem, Greg Abbott, Tommy Tuberville, Tom Cotton, Marco Rubio.

Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Ben Carson, Rick Santorum, John Kennedy, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, Rick Perry, Nikki Haley, Ted Nugent, Allen West, Marsha Blackburn, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Steve Bannon, Ann Coulter... to be continued....

If you're not there, you can go to the People's Cube page and add yourself. Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!

VIDEO: "Sorry about Apu" (sez Hank Azaria)

In the New Woke America, it was bound to happen. Today, longtime The Simpsons actor Hank Azaria has apologized to "every Indian person" for his voice characterization of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, the owner of the Springfield Kwik-E-Mart. If you've been living off the TV grid for the last four decades, heeeeere's Apu!

Of course we all know that Indians don't sound like Russell Peters imitating his father, unless they just got off the boat five minutes ago. And the idea of an Indian owning a convenience store? Ridiculous! Everyone knows that convenience stores are owned by Koreans! If you don't believe me, watch Kim's Convenience, on CBC-TV. Oh wait, it's been cancelled.

All the same, The Simpsons has been under fire for years for its depiction of Apu, whose thick Indian accent — voiced by a man who happens to be, errr, white — caused backlash and accusations of... wait for it... racism. In 2017, the documentary The Problem With Apu examined "the damage of the portrayal and enduring stereotype, and how that rippled through society over decades."

Mr Azaria, who apparently was something of a tippler, decided to step away from the role in 2020, after he sobered up. In his statement today, he said, "I really do apologize. I know you weren't asking for that, but it's important. I apologize for my part in creating that and participating in that. Part of me feels like I need to go to every single Indian person in this country and personally apologize. And sometimes I do."

So, farewell then, Apu. Come back again!

Note from Ed.: Did you catch the part where Apu almost flunks his citizenship test for giving a politicfally incorrect answer about the causes of the Civil War?

New poll shows Marine Le Pen would trounce leftists in 2022 election

In "Les mots prescients du Général de Gaulle" (WWW 31/3/21), Walt addressed these words to our many French readers: Est-ce que vous avez eu assez de... l'Europe? la globalisation? la diversité? l'inclusivité? la connerie?! If the answer is "Yes!" (I wrote), get up and stand with Marine Le Pen and the Rallye National!

Of course I'm not the only one saying such things. All those (and we are many) urging the people of the AABC countries and western Europe to reject globalization and multiculturalism, and vote for nationalism and the restoration of western civilization, will be happy to know that the people of France (at least) are listening, and preparing to do the right thing in 2022.

French lefties (and they are many) are soiling their pink-hued shorts today after the releast of a poll showing that in a second-round run-off of the 2022 French presidential elections, Marine Le Pen would defeat nearly all of the proposed left-wing candidates.

The poll, conducted by the polling firm Ifop, revealed that the leader of the Rallye National would soundly defeat several left-wing candidates such as far-left Jean-Luc Melenchon who would only score 40% of the vote if facing Mme Le Pen.

Europe1 reports that Environmentalist candidate Yannick Jadot would also lose to Mme Le Pen, while Anne Hidalgo, the left-wing mayor of Paris, was even -- 50-50 -- with the popular populist leader. The strongest candidate against Mme Le Pen would seem to be the centre-right (read: cuckservative) prospective candidate Xavier Bertrand, polled 59% to Mme Le Pen's 41%.

While the poll examined a variety of possible match-ups for the second round, it also revealed Marine Le Pen and incumbent Président Emmanuel Macron are most likely to advance to the second round in 2022, which means they would face each other once again in the run-off. The Ifop poll says that if the run-off were held today, Macron would beat Mme Le Pen, 55% to 45%.

As Walt sees it, French voters have a full year, yet, to recognize the threat to France and to western civilization posed by the continuation of rule by the one-world elites. Let me repeat... "Soulevez-vous! Confiance au Rallye National! Confiance à Marine Le Pen!"

VIDEO: Tucker Carlson on the untouchability of AOC

Fox News has not (yet) put itself beyond the pale. They still have Tucker Carlson and let's be thankful for that. Mr Carlson had some trenchant comments last Friday on AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, if you somehow didn't know) sending Inspector Knacker after a little-known California podcaster named Ryan Wentz.

Mr Wentz, who goes by the Twitter handle @queeralamode [tells you something right there. Ed.] isn't one of our extremists, but a left-wing, anti-war activist, who dared to post a video of some vague remarks made by AOC on the subject of Israel and Palestine, which he called "incredibly underwhelming."

His failure to recognize Ms O-C's expertise and insight wasn't appreciated by the erstwhile leader of all progressive Forces for Good, who sent the CHiPs around to his apartment California last week to warn him that he'd better stop "threatening" her. Mr Carlson picks up the story....

According to the New York Post, AOC's office has asked the concerned public to help identify critics in the past. On February 4th, her campaign e-mailed supporters asking them to "scan your social media to find posts with misleading information" about the congresswoman, and "use the built-in report feature to flag them for moderators."

Walt considers himself warned, and promises to refrain from any further comments about Ms O-C, unless she [Constraints of space force us to delete the rest of this post. Ed.]

WHO says kung flu did NOT start this way

Others say it was no accident. It is for you, the jury, to decide if you believe the WHO... or not... as the case may be....

How I miss Gary Larson...

Meme of the week: Google Maps deletes Georgia... entirely

Many people have long suggested that a statectomy of California and New York would be a miracle cure for all that ails the Excited States of America.

[What's a statectomy? Ed.] Glad you asked. An "ectomy" is the surgical removal of a body part. A tonsillectomy, for instance, is the removal of your tonsils.

[If they call if a tonsillectomy when they remove your tonsils, and an appendectomy when they remove your appendix, what do they call it when they remove a growth from the top of your head? Ed.] ... ... ... I don't know, what do they call it when they remove a growth from the top of your head?

[A haircut! ... Geddit? Ed.]

So farewell then, Prince Philip

His Royal Highness Prince Philip, consort of Her Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, died this morning, surrounded by most of his family -- you know who wasn't there -- at Windsor Castle.

Affectionately (?) dubbed "Phil the Greek" by the British satirical newspaper Private Eye, Prince Philip was actually part of a very large German-British royal family, the Battenbergs, who members sat on the thrones of Russia, Germany, Greece and Great Britain at various times in the 20th century.

Philip, Prince of Greece and Denmark, the son of Princess Alice of Battenberg and grandson of the 1st Marquess of Milford Haven, took the name Mountbatten when he became a naturalised British subject on his marriage to Princess Elizabeth in 1947.

Philip became the longest-living royal consort in British history, surpassing Queen Caroline, the wife of George III. He spent 74 years supporting his wife in a role that both defined and constricted his life. He died just two months short of his 100th birthday.

Walt didn't know Prince Philip personally, [Really?! Ed.] but was inclined to like him for being politically incorrect, and by all account not suffering fools gladly. His dislike for Crown Prince Charles was fodder for "Heir of Sorrow", a parody of a Mills & Boon bodice-ripper which appeared regularly in Private Eye. One can only imagine what he thought of Prince Harry and the Princess of Woke.

The Prince was known to be "irascible and tough-minded", not afraid to call a spade a spade. He is said to have told a British diplomat posted to Hong Kong not to stay there too long "or you'll become all slitty-eyed like them." And on viewing a rat's nest of wires on a tour of a factory in India, he remarked, "Must have been done by a local electrician."

In the 21st century, saying those kinds of things makes one politically incorrect, and obituaries are being published even as I write describing the late Prince as "racist" and "sexist". I don't think he would care. Here's a photo, posted on WWW years ago, which we think pretty much sums up Prince Philip's view of himself and his place in the overall scheme of things.

What is the reason for the enigmatic smile on his face...and the priceless expressions on the faces of the others, especially Prince Harry? Did Prince Philip fart? Seems like he didn't take himself too seriously, and Walt says, "Good on yer, Phil! RIP."

VIDEO: Warning to Americans! Don't go to Canuckistan!

Dear American readers... Now that the weather is getting warm in the Excited States of America [especially in Minneaplolis, Ed.], are you thinking of a holiday trip to cool Canada? Maybe a ski weekend in Toronto in June?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, don't even think about it! CDC sez: if you're American, just stay away from Canada! Here's their official notice published yesterday: "Travellers should avoid all travel to Canada. Because of the current situation in Canada, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to Canada."

How could this be? The Toronto Sun's Brian Lilley explains.

The CDC rates COVID-19 travel advisories from Level 1 (low) to Level 4 (very high), and has labelled Canada a Level 4 danger zone. The following warnings apply.

 * Travelers should avoid all travel to Canada.
 * Because of the current situation in Canada even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading Covid-19 variants and should avoid all travel to Canada.
 * If you must travel to Canada, get fully vaccinated before travel. All travelers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands.

Canuckistan closed its border with the US of A to "non-essential travellers" over a year ago. More recently, emergency regulations were issued to mandate that anyone (with some exceptions, like hockey players) entering the country must quarantine for a fortnight (in Murcan, that's 14 days), provide contact information and monitor themselves for symptoms of Covid-19. The ban on most nonessential travel across the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM) is in place until April 21st, though it could be extended.

Seems to Walt the CDC overlooked the major threat to the physical and mental health of Americans visiting the Great No-longer-white North, viz. terminal liberalism! Just breathe the rarified air of Toronto, Vancouver or (especially) Ottawa, and you'll be infected. One of the first symptoms is the urge to apologize to everyone you bump into, especially if they're BIPOCs. Even if you didn't do anything to them, you must apologize for the sins of your ancestors. That's the Canajan way!

Footnote: Haven't been vaccinated against the Kung flu yet? If you ignore othe advice of the CDC and go to Canada, just pop into the nearest Shoppers Drug Mart and get a dose of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine, imported from the USA where its safety is still being debated.

Montreal Gazette can't tell players without a programme

Our National Sports (so long as it's hockey) Editor, Poor Len Canayen, sent us this screen grab from the Montreal Gazette's story about the Montréal Canadiens' thrilling come-from-behind victory over Edmonton, at le Centre Bell last night.

Apparently the Gazoo doesn't both to send a photographer to the Habs home games, even though one could walk to the Bell Center from the alleged paper's downtown Montréal offices. The photo credit goes to a photog from USA Today.

Poor Len wonders if the caption was also written by an American, or someone [from Toronto maybe? Ed.] who doesn't follow Canada's Team very closely. The player wearing la Sainte Flannelle, identified as No. 11, Brendan Gallagher, is actually No. 21, Eric Staal, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Someone at the Gazoo needs his knuckles rapped with a hockey stick!

10 radical new rules that are changing America

Note from Ed.: We rarely repost entire columns from other sources, but this one, by Victor Davis Hanson, is so cogent, so urgent, that it deserves to be read in full. This appeared in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, 3/4/21

There are 10 new ideas that are changing America, maybe permanently.

1) Money is a construct. It can be created from thin air. Annual deficits and aggregate national debt no longer matter much. Prior presidents ran up huge annual deficits, but at least there were some concessions that the money was real and had to be paid back. Not now.

As we near $30 trillion in national debt and 110 percent of annual GDP, our elites either believe permanent zero interest rates make the cascading obligation irrelevant, or the larger the debt, the more likely we will be forced to address needed income redistribution.

2) Laws are not necessarily binding anymore. Joe Biden took an oath to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed." But he has willfully rendered federal immigration laws null and void. Some rioters are prosecuted for violating federal laws, others not so much. Arrests, prosecutions and trials are all fluid. Ideology governs when a law is still considered a law.

Crime rates do not necessarily matter. If someone is carjacked, assaulted or shot, it can be understood to be as much the victim's fault as the perpetrator's. Either the victim was too lax, uncaring and insensitive, or he provoked his attacker. How useful the crime is to the larger agendas of the left determines whether a victim is really a victim, and the victimizer really a victimizer.

3) Racialism is now acceptable. We are defined first by our ethnicity or religion, and only secondarily — if at all — by an American commonality. The explicit exclusion of whites from college dorms, safe spaces and federal aid programs is now noncontroversial. It is unspoken payback for perceived past sins, or a type of "good" racism. Falsely being called a racist makes one more guilty than falsely calling someone else a racist.

4) The immigrant is mostly preferable to the citizen. The newcomer, unlike the host, is not stained by the sins of America's founding and history. Most citizens currently must follow quarantine rules and social distancing, stay out of school and obey all the laws.

Yet those entering the United States illegally need not follow such apparently superfluous COVID-19 rules. Their children should be immediately schooled without worry of quarantine. Immigrants need not worry about their illegal entry or residence in America. Our elites believe illegal entrants more closely resemble the "founders" than do legal citizens, about half of whom they consider irredeemable.

5) Most Americans should be treated as we would treat little children. They cannot be asked to provide an ID to vote. "Noble lies" by our elites about COVID-19 rules are necessary to protect "Neanderthals" from themselves.

Americans deserve relief from the stress of grades, standardized testing and normative rules of school behavior. They still are clueless about why it is good for them to pay far more for their gasoline, heating and air conditioning.

6) Hypocrisy is passe. Virtue-signaling is alive. Climate change activists fly on private jets. Social justice warriors live in gated communities. Multibillionaire elitists pose as victims of sexism, racism and homophobia. The elite need these exemptions to help the helpless. It is what you say to lesser others about how to live, not how you yourself live, that matters.

7) Ignoring or perpetuating homelessness is preferable to ending it. It is more humane to let thousands of homeless people live, eat, defecate and use drugs on public streets and sidewalks than it is to green-light affordable housing, mandate hospitalization for the mentally ill and create sufficient public shelter areas.

8) McCarthyism is good. Destroying lives and careers for incorrect thoughts saves more lives and careers. Cancel culture and the Twitter Reign of Terror provide needed deterrence. Now that Americans know they are one wrong word, act or look away from losing their livelihoods, they are more careful and will behave in a more enlightened fashion. The social media guillotine is the humane, scientific tool of the woke.

9) Ignorance is preferable to knowledge. Neither statue-toppling, nor name-changing, nor the 1619 Project requires any evidence or historical knowledge. Heroes of the past were simple constructs. Undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees reflect credentials, not knowledge. The brand, not what created it, is all that matters.

10) Wokeness is the new religion, growing faster and larger than Christianity. Its priesthood outnumbers the clergy and exercises far more power. Silicon Valley is the new Vatican, and Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google and Twitter are the new gospels.

Americans privately fear these rules while publicly appearing to accept them. They still could be transitory and invite a reaction. Or they are already near-permanent and institutionalized. The answer determines whether a constitutional republic continues as once envisioned or warps into something never imagined by those who created it.

"Allahu akbar!" at the Capitol?

I know I said there wouldn't be any new posts here, other than traditional Christian greetings, between Good Friday and Easter Monday, but this won't wait.

Those who turned off the TV and the Internet for a quiet and peaceful observance of Good Friday missed some real news, the kind that the lickspittle media hopes will be forgotten by Monday.

Briefly, a Capitol Police officer was killed this afternoon when a man rammed a car into two officers at a barricade outside the Capitol, and then exited the vehicle [That's cop-speak. It means he got out. Ed.] wielding a knife.

The driver of the vehicle stabbed one of the officers, William "Billy" Evans, who succumbed to his injuries soon after. He wounded a second officer before being shot by others. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, apparently without saying a word about who he was or why he did it.

The Acting Chief of the Capitol Police, Yogananda Pittman [This is not a made-up name. Ed.] said they were "digging into the suspect's background and examining whether he had a mental health history as they tried to discern a motive."

Just another wild and crazy guy, not a terrorist. Right? The lamestream media were quick to make mention of the "January 6th insurrection", trying to make a link with the terrible attack fomented (they say) by President Trump. Their spin stopped abruptly when a picture of the dying attacker (taken as he was being loaded into an ambulance) was posted on social media. Here it is.

Didn't see it clearly? Here's a closeup.

Whoops! A black [Black? Ed.] guy! Since we all know that domestic terrorists only come in white, his motive couldn't possibly have been political... or racial... or both. Right? Guess again!

There you have it folks, not from Breitbart News, but from NBC's Pete Williams! Hmmm. Nation of Islam... Where have we heard that before? Oh... yes... it's a pro-Black (not anti-white!) nationalist group led by one Louis Farrakhan, a prominent supporter of Sleepy Joe and the Prez before him.

As the name suggests, it's an Islamic group too, founded by one Elijah Muhammad. Turns out Mr Green had a Facebook page. Someone managed to save this screen grab of something he posted just a couple of weeks ago.

If Mr Green had any last words which went unrecorded, they may well have been "Allahu akbar!" That shout will be heard again... somewhere... maybe not far from you... sometime... maybe soon.

Traditional Prayers for Good Friday, A.D. 2021

Good Catholic friends... If you attend the Good Friday Liturgy at a mainstream Roman Catholic church today, you will hear only a "reformed", politically correct version of the Solemn Prayers which were said in all our churches, on every Good Friday for centuries, until the disorientation caused by Vatican II. Here are the old prayers in a translation bearing the imprimatur of Francis Cardinal Spellman.

1. For Holy Church
Almighty and eternal God, who in Christ hast revealed They glory to all nations: preserve the works of Thy mercy; that Thy Church, spread abroad over the whole world, may with a steadfast faith persevere in the confession of Thy Name. Through the same our Lord...

2. For the Supreme Pontiff
Almighty and eternal God, by whose judgment all things are established, mercifully regard our prayers, and in Thy goodness preserve the Chief Bishop chosen to rule over us: that the Christian people who are governed by Thine authority, may under so great a Pontiff increase in the merits of their faith. Through our Lord...

3. For all orders and degrees of the faithful
Almighty and eternal God, by whose Spirit the w hole body of the Church is sanctified and governed, hear our supplications for all the orders thereof; that by the gift of Thy grace, they may all in their several degrees faithfully serve Thee. Through our Lord...

4. For the rulers of the state
Almighty and eternal God, in whose hands is all power and authority: look with mercy on those who govern us, that Thy right hand protecting us, integrity of faith and security of country may be preserved. Through our Lord Jesus Christ...

5. For catechumens
Almighty and eternal God, Who dost continually enrich Thy Church with a new offspring; increase the faith and understanding of our Catechumens; that being born again in the waters of Baptism, they may be joined to the children of Thine adoption. Through our Lord...

6. For the necessities of the faithful
Almighty and eternal God, the Comfort of the sorrowful, the Support of the weary, let the prayers of them reach Thee that cry to Thee in any affliction; that all may have reason to rejoice that in their need Thy mercy hath come to their aid. Through our Lord...

7. For the unity of the Church
Almighty and eternal God, Who saves all men, and desirest not that any should perish: look down on such souls as are deceived by the wiles of the devil; that laying aside all heretical perverseness, the hearts of those who are in error may be converted, and may return to the unity of Thy truth. Through our Lord...

8. For the conversion of the Jews
Almighty and eternal God, Who art ready to extend Thy mercy even to the Jews, hear the prayers which we offer for the blindness of that people; that by acknowledging the light of Thy truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same our Lord...

9. For the conversion of infidels
Almighty and eternal God, Who dost ever desire the life, and not the death, of sinners: mercifully receive our prayer, and deliver them from the worship of idols, and join them to the flock of Thy holy Church, for the praise and glory of Thy Name. Through our Lord...

VIDEO: No April Fool gags, just straight talk from Michael Matt

YouTube is doing its best to put Michael Matt's videos in the shadows, the step just above banning them altogether. Just in case, Mr Matt and the good folks at RemnantTV have their own website up and running, and we're going to repost their videos here, occasionally, to encourage you to visit RemnantTV and sign up for regular notifications of the latest vids, because the truth is there.

In this episode of "the Editor's Desk" (posted on March 29th), Mr Michael J. Matt asks some timely and tough questions:
• Why does the Old Normal show no signs of returning, even though the vaccines are finally here? • Wasn't the point of masks and social distancing to flatten the curve and slow the spread until the vaccines were ready?
• Why does Dr. Fauci want us to keep wearing masks indefinitely?
• Whatever happened to all those ventilators Donald Trump manufactured by the millions last year? Were they ever used? Where did all the ventilators go?
• New York's Andy Cuomo introduces a Vaccination Passport app that will allow people to go back to Broadway shows, but wouldn't it be better to surgically insert microchips to keep us all even safer?
• Is Senator Rand Paul, the libertarian, onto something when he defends vaccination so long as it's not mandatory? Isn't that what Operation Warp Speed was all about, to provide the vaccine option so that the country go back to the Old Normal?
• Can Catholic Poland break through the mainstream media propaganda that "patriotism" and "Christianity" in Poland are just codewords for "racism" and "white supremacy"?

Walt really likes that last segment. Recent events in the Vatican, Eire and elsewhere in western Europe suggest that eastern Europe may turn out to be the last bastion of traditional Catholicism. God bless all who preach, teach and practise the Faith of our fathers!

Speaking of which... today is Holy Thursday. Except for Good Friday and Easter greetings, there will be no posts from Walt until the Tuesday of Easter Week. Go to church if the nanny state lets you!
