Prayer by Archbishop Viganò for re-election of Donald Trump

Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant Newspaper (who videos are often reposted here) has been saying for months now that if you're an American, and a traditional Catholic, you have no choice but to vote to re-elect Donald Trump to a second term as President of the United States. True, Mr Trump is not Catholic, and true, he has made mistakes, but consider the alternative! "What alternative?", I hear you ask, and you're right. There is none.

Earlier this month, Mr Matt and his colleagues at The Remnant League of the Sacred Heart launched a Rosary Crusade to pray every Friday until November 3rd for the special intention of the re-election of President Trump in the face of yet another burgeoning New World Order. If possible, those who join the Crusade should receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of every month, and observe a Holy Hour for this intention.

This Prayer Crusade is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus with special invocation to Our Lady of Victory, that she will intercede on behalf of our country even as she did at Lepanto, and inspire Catholic Americans to do all in our power to turn our nation back to Almighty God over the course of the next four years.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, whose increasingly stringent, nerve-striking attacks on the Second Vatican Council have started to irritate the Powers That Be in the mainstream (read: modernist) Catholic Church, has publicly endorsed President Trump, and received a letter of thanks and encouragement for so doing. Mr Matt has therefore asked Archbishop Viganò to lead us in the Crusade. The prelate has responded by composing a special prayer, which it is hoped will be prayed by millions of true Catholics, not just in the USA but around the world, during the Friday night Rosary.

Prayer for a Resurgence of Christianity in America
and the Re-election of Donald Trump

Almighty and Eternal God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords: graciously turn your gaze to us who invoke You with confidence.

Bless us, citizens of the United States of America; grant peace and prosperity to our Nation; illuminate those who govern us so that they may commit themselves to the common good, in respect for Your holy Law.

Protect those who, defending the inviolable principles of the Natural Law and Your Commandments, must face the repeated assaults of the Enemy of the human race.

Keep in the hearts of Your children courage for the truth, love for virtue and perseverance in the midst of trials.

Make our families grow in the example that Our Lord has given us, together with His Most Holy Mother and Saint Joseph in the home of Nazareth; give to our fathers and mothers the gift of Strength, to educate wisely the children with which you have blessed them.

Give courage to those who, in spiritual combat, fight the good fight as soldiers of Christ against the furious forces of the children of darkness.

Keep each one of us, O Lord, in your Most Sacred Heart, and above all him whom Your Providence has placed at the head of our Nation.

Bless the President of the United States of America, so that aware of his responsibility and his duties, he may be a knight of justice, a defender of the oppressed, a firm bulwark against Your enemies, and a proud supporter of the children of light.

Place the United States of America and the whole world under the mantle of the Queen of Victories, our Unconquered Leader in battle, the Immaculate Conception. It is thanks to her, and through your Mercy, that the hymn of praise rises to you, O Lord, from the children whom you have redeemed in the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Michiganders* demand removal of racist flag, but guess what...

In St. John's MI, about 20 miles north of the capital of the Karen State, there is a charming bed and breakfast called the Nordic Pineapple. Kind of a strange name, informed perhaps by the owners' (Greg and Kjersten Offenbecker) being Norwegian-American -- kind of like those Nordic types Garrison Keillor used to talk about on Prairie Home Companion. [Whatever happened to that show? Ed.] For more on those fun-loving Norskes, see Scandinavian Humor & Other Myths, by John Louis Anderson (Nordbooks 1986).

According to Mr Keillor, Norwegians do have a sense of humour. They also have a sense of national or -- dare I say it -- ethnic pride, the kind of pride that makes them fly the Norwegian flag outside their homes, just as Italian-Americans fly the Italian flag and Japanese-Americans fly... well, maybe not.

Unfortunately for the Offenbeckers, the Norwegian flag, when hung on a pole at an angle to the upright, looks -- to those untrained in vexillology -- not unlike the Battle Flag of the Confederate States of America. And we all know what that means! Although they never received any direct threats, Greg and Kjersten were accused more than once of "promoting racism", a notion they find particularly hurtful, as they're raising two adopted black kids. So after receiving “at least a dozen hateful emails,” and twice as many rude comments, they decided last week that enough was enough. [Are we still allowed to use that expression? Ed.]

On her Facebook page, Mrs Offenbecker wrote: "This flag is so often mistaken for the Confederate flag and people are often offended by it before they realize that they are mistaken. I am very proud of my Norwegian heritage and will fly it on special occasions like Norwegian Independence Day and maybe I will find a less conspicuous place to fly it but, for now we feel that it is the best decision to take it down."

In reporting this fine example of the triumph of political correctness and the cancel culture, RT.com adds that this is not the first time the Norwegian flag got mistaken for something else. Two years ago, bestselling true-crime author Rebecca Morris alerted the Seattle Times to her sighting of a Confederate flag in her neighbourhood. What reporters found instead was a Norwegian-American homeowner showing the support of his Scandinavian country of origin during the Olympic games that were taking place the time.

Where will it all end? Walt says enough is enough! But you know and Walt knows that for the woolly-minded liberal SJWs, enough will never be enough.

* Footnote from Ed.: If men from Michigan are called "Michiganders", are women from Michigan "Michigeese"? Just askin'...

Two Irishmen discuss the coming election

We are just over three months away from the 2020 elections for the Presidensity of the Excited States of America and other positions. Walt has not yet officially endorsed any candidates for anything but assiduous readers will understand that I would vote for Sleepy Joe Biden only if there were reliable reports of the temperature in Hell having plummeted to 0.

So I am encouraged by the daily release by the (((controlled media))) or new polls showing that Still-President Trump is way behind Creepy Joe and certain to lose bigly come November. We heard the same thing, from the same people, four years ago. Remember?

The American elections are much discussed elsewhere in the world, including the Auld Sod. What follows purports to be a conversation between two men in an Irish pub....

Who is going to win beyond? Which of the pair would you back?
I do not know.

The brother says your man is going to win. But begob I don't know. It'll be a long time before your other man hands in his gun.
That is true.

Your man is smart, I'll agree with the brother there. And he doesn't take a jar, that's another thing that stands to him. And of course he bars the fags as well. But does that mean your other man is a buff?
Scarcely.

Oh indeed begob it doesn't. It certainly does not. Because your other man gets up very early too. It wasn't yesterday or the day before your other man came up.
He has undoubtedly certain qualities of adroitness.

Of cousre the brother looks at it the other way. He is all for your man and never had any time for your other man. Says no good could ever come out of the class of carry-on your other man has been at for the last ten years. There's a lot in that, of course. The brother certainly put his finger on it there. But it's not all on the wan side. Your man was up to some hooky work in his time too.
No doubt.

There's a pair of crows in it. And I t hink your other man is six to four on. Do you know why?
I do not.
Because he knows the place backwards, every lane and backyard in it. Lived there all his life, why wouldn't he. And of course your man doesn't know where the hell he is. And do you know why I wouldn't be sorry to see your other man coming in first?
No.

Because it would be great gas to prove the brother wrong for once. And you'll live to see it too. Because do you know what I'm going to tell you?
What?
Your man is using the whip. Do you know that? Your man is using the whip!
Is that a fact?
I'm telling you now. Begob here's me bus. Cheers!
Byebye.

It's possible they may not have been discussing the 2020 election or any American election, but you can read the conversation any way you like, depending on who your man is, of course.

This piece was actually written some time ago by Flann O'Brien, aka Brian Ó Nuallain -- O'Nolan, for Americans -- born 5 October 1911 at Strabane, County Tyrone, died 1 April 1966 (!) in Dublin. Mr O'Brien was an Irish novelist, dramatist, and, as Myles na gCopaleen, a columnist for the Irish Times newspaper for 26 years. That's him on the right in the photo above.

I've excerpted it from The Best of Myles, Picador 1977, which I recommend highly, if only (but not only) for witticisms like this one.

Poor Len Canayen's advice for Habs' coach

After over four months of no hockey -- death, for a true Canuck sports fan -- the National Hockey League (((G. Bettman, Prop.))) resumed its 2019-20 season yesterday, with a slate of exhibition games, to be followed by playoffs beginning August 1st. Our National Sports Editor, Poor Len Canayen, viewed the match between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montréal Canadiens. Here are his comments.

Tank youse, Ed. What I saw on the idiot's lantern last night was not so much a win for the Maple Laffs as a loss for la Sainte Flannelle. The final score was 4-2 for the boys in white and blue. Two of the Leafs' four goals were scored while the Habs were on the power play. Maybe now we should call it the powerless play. I'll come to that in a moment.

The other problem Canada's team has -- one they struggled with throughout the abbreviated regular season -- is playing only 18 minutes per 20-minute period. It seems to take the first minute of each period for them to wake up. Then, when the stadium announcer intones "ONE minute remaining in the period", they stop playing to see what will happen. The other two goals, last night, were scored against them at 0:33 of the first period and 19:35 of the second period.

I have a solution for dat. What Coach Claude Julien should do is put an extra man on the ice at the beginning of the first period and when the clock shows one minute left in all three periods. That will result in a "too many men" penalty, forcing the team to play short-handed for the first and last minutes of every period, which they do pretty well. I should mention excellent work by Paul Byron and Arturri Lekkonen on the PK last night. Problem solved!

As for giving up goals while they have the man advantage, one possibility would be to punish severely [How? Ed.] power players who stand at the opposing team's blueline waiting for the defence to recover the puck. A better solution, given last night's performance, might be to comb through the NHL rulebook and see if it's possible to decline a penalty, as can be done in football. They played well enough 5-on-5, so next time an opponent hooks or hacks a Hab, Coach Julien should wave at the refugees -- those guys in the black and white stripes -- and say "That's OK. We don't really mind. Let's just play on."

Another problem solved through the power of creative hockey analysis. The Canadiens have three days to rest up and think about those things. Next game, the first of the "play-ins" vs Sid the Kid and the other Penguins, will be on Saturday night. Stay tuned!

VIDEO: Latest Tuba Skinny webcast

Ed. here. It's been a while since Walt gave you a break from politics and religion. It's also some time since we reposted a video featuring Tuba Skinny (leader, Shaye Cohn), possibly the greatest New Orleans (formerly "Dixieland") jazz band extant. So here's their webcast from yesterday afternoon. If you like it, please tip the band: Paypal - tubaskinny@gmail.com; Venmo - @tubaskinny

Politics, religion... there was another topic we used to talk/write about... what was it... oh yeah, hockey! Poor Len Canayen reports that the 16 teams competing for the Stanley Cup have entered bubbles in Toronto and Edmonton and will start playing (in empty arenas, sadly) this coming week. Poor Len may... or may not... have something to say about the possibility of the Montréal Canadiens, seeded 16th, going home with Lord Stanley's silverware, in a few days.

VIDEO: Prophecies of Three Days of Darkness

The late Father Nicholas Gruner+ told me about Saint Padre Pio, whom he met while studying in Italy. I hadn't heard, though, about the prophecies of the Three Days of Darkness until I happened upon this video (actually an "audio", with only three images) published by Return to Tradition.

Some of you may think that what you hear is extreme, a prophecy of doom and gloom, and so it is. But that doesn't mean it isn't true. There is bound to be a Great Chastisement one of these days. We deserve it. If you doubt that, look around you. Sodom and Gomorrah could not have witnessed greater corruption, debauchery and amoral behaviour than what we are seeing in Western society today. And look what happened to them! When the narrator says "Be prepared!", you may choose not to listen, not to heed. But don't say you weren't warned!

Further viewing (added 27/7/20): Saint Padre Pio was not the only religious to prophesy Three Days of Darkness. Click to watch and listen to Father Mark Goring, CC, talk about the prophecy of Blessed Anna Maria Taigi, an Italian Roman Catholic professed member from the Secular Trinitarians. Her description of what will happen during the Three Days of Darkness is remarkably similar to that expressed later by Saint Padre Pio. Father Goring reminds us, however, that while these prophecies should be taken seriously, they must not be taken too literally.

VIDEO: A Muslima's thoughts about Islam, immigration and multicult

Please allow me, dear reader, to present some excerpts from a book written by a Muslim lady who now lives in the Paranoid States of America. I'll give you the title and the author's name later.

When massive immigration began in Holland, which wasn't until the 1980s, there was a sense among the Dutch that society should behave with decency and understanding toward these people and accept their differences and beliefs. But the result was that immigrants lived apart, studied apart, socialized apart.

Holland's multiculturalism -- its respect for Muslims' way of doing things -- wasn't working.... Holland was trying to be tolerant for the sake of consensus, but the consensus was empty. The immigrants' culture was being preserved at the expense of their women and children and to the detriment of the immigrants' integration into Holland.

Many Muslims never learned Ducth and rejected Dutch values of tolerance and personal liberty. They married relatives from their home villages and stayed, inside Holland, in their tiny bubble of Morocco or Mogadishu....

Surely Islam was some kind of influence in the underperforming segregation of so many immigrants in Holland? ...of all the non-Western immigrants...the least integrated are Muslims.... Muslims in Holland make disproportionately heavy claims on social welfare and disability benefits and are disproportionately involved in crime.

If Muslim immigrants lagged so far behind even other immigrant groups, then wasn't it possible that one of the reasons could be Islam?... Why was it racist to ask this question? Why was it antiraciszt to indulge people's attachment to their old ideas and perpetuate this misery?

If Mark Steyn (for instance) dared to publish those quotes in his blog, or say them out loud in a speech or podcast, he'd be hauled before a "human rights" commission by a group of Muslims and offended liberals. It's happened before. His defence would be that those aren't his words, but those of a Muslim, namely Ayaan Hirsi Ali, author of Infidel (Free Press, 2007), from which those paragraphs are taken.

Ms Ali was born in Somalia, and lived the hard life of a good Muslim girl -- complete with gential mutilation -- in Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, and Kenya, before fleeing to Germany, thence to the Netherlands, where she made which she admits was a bogus refugee claim. She did not give her right name, and, rather than saying she was running from an arranged marriage, said she was fleeing persecution, and in danger of her life.

Unlike many Muslimas, she did well in Europe, working her way through university with a degree in political science. Eventually she became a member of the Dutch parliament. Infidel is the story of her difficult physical journey, but also of her intellectual awakening and eventual rejection of Islam.

Ms Ali's political activism made her aq political superstar and champion of free speech. It also made her the target of threats from Islamic extremists and their apologists. But it wasn't she who paid for her supposedly Islamophobic views. It was Theo van Gogh [no relation. Ed.], who directed Submission: Part 1, a short film written by Ms Ali, which criticized the Islamic mistreatment of women. On 2 November 2004, Mr van Gogh was assassinated by a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim who objected to the film's "Islamophobic" message.

In the last quarter (or so) of Infidel, Ms Ali tells how she was taken into protective custody, sent into hiding in the USA, and (almost) stripped of her Dutch citizenship. All this in spite of being named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2005, and Reader's Digest's European of the Year.

Within 24 hours of the announcement of the order declaring Ms Ali "unDutch" (later rescinded), she was offered a position with the American Enterprise Institute. Click here to read more about her on the AEI website. And do read Infidel!

Simple solution for problems housing seniors and criminals

As the corona virus continues to sweep across North America [mostly the part south of the 49th parallel. Ed.], it presents governments with problems particular to two groups of citizens who are forced to live in confined quarters where the virus spreads more rapidly, with deadly effect. I speak of senior citizens incarcerated in retirement homes, and criminals living rent-free in prisons where they enjoy benefits (like three squares, internet and TV) which many seniors don't get.

Thanks be, then, to Agent 9, who has forwarded a proposal from "Maxine" [Who she? Ed.] which, if implemented, would kill both birds with one stone. Hm. Maybe not a keen choice o' words. Let's just say our dilemma about what to do with seniors and criminals would be ended, if only our governments would let them... or make them... switch places!

Here ["Maxine" writes] is the way it should be: Let's put the seniors in jail and the criminals in nursing homes. This would correct two things at one:

Seniors would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.
They would receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and Medical treatment, wheel chairs, etc.
They would receive money instead of having to pay it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they would be helped instantly if they fell or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes.

All meals and snacks would be brought to them.
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight/fitness room, spiritual counseling, a pool and education...and free admission to in-house concerts by nationally recognized entertainment artists.

Simple clothing – e.g. shoes, slippers, PJs – and legal aid would be free, upon request.
There would be private, secure rooms provided for all, with an outdoor exercise yard complete with gardens.
Each senior would have a PC, TV, phone and radio in their room at no cost.
They would receive daily phone calls.

There would be a board of directors to hear any complaints and the ACLU would fight for their rights and protection.
The guards would have a code of conduct to be strictly adhered to, with attorneys available, at no charge to protect the seniors and their families from abuse or neglect.
And they'd be living in a gated community!

As for the criminals:

They would receive cold food.
They would be left alone and unsupervised.
They would receive showers once a week.
They would live in tiny rooms, for which they would have to pay $5000 per month.
They would have no hope of ever getting out.

Sounds like justice to me!

Black Lives Matter in Toronto the Good

No, Virginia, Black Lives Matter/BLM is not just an American "thing", or even a "Black thing". The leftist-directed and leftist-funded "protests" following the death of George Floyd (see "Featured Post") has spread across the World's Longest Quasi-Undefended Border to several cities in Canuckistan, notably Toronto, where Whites are the beleaguered minority.

From what was known a century ago as "Toronto the Good" [because you couldn't get a drink there. Ed.] comes news of a "peaceful protest" this past weekend in which statues of the founder of Ryerson University (instrumental in planning residential schools for aboriginal children), Sir John Eh Macdonald (same, and anti-French too) and King Edward VII (symbol of colonism) were painted pink, to call attention to the usual laundry list of grievances.

A Black Lives Matter - Toronto news release says the statues were "artistically disrupted" in "support of demands to defund the police, invest in communities and create emergency safety services that do not harm Black and Indigenous people." Rodney Diverlus, co-founder of the group in Toronto, said people (about 40, judging from the videos) had come out for an "art-based demonstration," whose aim, he said, was to make a point about racism and police violence. He added that Anyone angered by the defacing of public monuments was misguided.

Toronto cops, apparently among the "misguided", charged three people, none of whom are visibly Black, with three counts of mischief under $5000 and conspiracy to commit a summary offence. "We understand we respect the right to protest, but in this incident, where we have statues and monuments that have been vandalized and defaced, the appropriate charges have been laid in this case," Constable Alex Li (not Black, but not white either) told the CP24 news channel.

Today, Agent 3, who vacations in Canada almost every summer, has sent us word of another story involving Toronto's finest and Black people. On the afternoon of July 10th, the cops were called to a shopping centre in Scarberia (eastern Toronto) a report of shots fired in the parking lot. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 26-year-old male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken from the scene to hospital via emergency run but was pronounced dead two days later. He was later identified as Toronto resident Jordon Marcelle, whose Black Life apparently didn't Matter much to his killers.

And here's a composite photo, issed by Toronto police today, of the 21-year-old woman who has been arrested and a 26-year-old man who is wanted for murder in connection with the death of Jordon Marcelle.

Neither the woman, Tristawna Ona Christian, nor the man, Shaquille Jameel Taesean Small, is a cop. Neither is white. It's just another black-on-black murder, something that happens about once a week in Toronto the Good. Will there be justice for Jordon Marcelle? Will a judge and jury find that Black Lives Matter? Stay tune... but don't hold your breath.

Another suggestion for a name for the Washington football team

Now that it has become de rigueur [= you have to do it. Poor Len.] to spell "black" with a capital B -- Black -- when referring to people we used to call Negroes or Colored, I have come up with another billiant idea -- the latest in a long line -- for a name for the NFL Team Formerly Known As Redskins.

This pure genius because it reflects the diversity [or lack thereof? Ed.] in today's National Football League and redresses the complaint of Colin Kaepernick and his fellow Blacks that they are not being shown enough `spect by the owners, the meeja, the public, and of course Still-President Trump.

I thought about "Washington All-Blacks", like the famous New Zealand football team [Actually they play rugby! Ed.], but found that name refers to their uniforms, not to the colour of their skins. The Washington team is Blacker than they are! So "All-Blacks" is out... and my suggestion is... wait for it...

The Capital Bs! Geddit?! Although the football team actually plays in Landover MD, Washington is the nation's capital, right? [What happened to Richmond? Ed.] And "Bs" is a capital B, made plural! Brilliant!

And yes, I even found a logo which will look perfect on the side of a black helmet or the shoulder of a black jersey... although visually it would be much better to have white (no capital) helmets and jerseys.

To the owners and management of the Team Formerly Known As Redskins... You're Welcome!

Footnote from Poor Len Canayen: Walt, didn't you copy that logo from a basketball team? Kinda looks like a basketball....

VIDEO: "I'm sorry!", as performed by Justin Trudeau

Mike from Simcoe Grey County Clearview Township [Did we get it right this time? Ed.] has created this great follow-up to the WEgate scandal, now playing on Parliament Hill in Canuckistan. For details, see "Conflict of interest: Trudeau employs George Costanza defence", WWW 15/7/20.

Mr Socks is getting pretty good at the oh-so-sincere apologies. As the video suggests, he's certainly had enough practice! And let's not forget that in a previous life he was a drama teacher. That's all ye know and all ye need to know.

VIDEO: Conflict of interest: Trudeau employs George Costanza defence

Note from Ed.: The hyuge sums mentioned in this post are expressed in Canadian dollars. At the moment, the beaverbuck (or "loonie", as Canucks call it) is worth about 74 cents in real money.

About a quarter-century ago, brothers (((Craig Kielburger))) and (((Marc Kielburger))), then barely teenagers, founded a couple of organizations in a Toronto suburb. According to the Jewish Independent, one was called "Free the Children", a registered charity whose mission is: "Free children from poverty. Free children from exploitation. Free children from the idea that they are powerless to change the world."

The other is "ME to WE". Described as a "social enterprise with a mission," Me to We "sells socially conscious and environmentally friendly clothes, books and music – as well as life-changing experiences. We also provide inspiring speakers, leadership training and transformative travel experiences.... Half of Me to We's profit is donated to its charitable partner, Free the Children." So that's all right, then.

Then came "WE Charity", co-founded by the brothers (((Kielburger))) and a lady named Roxanne Joyal. WE Charity describes itself as "an international charity and educational partner [which] operates collaborative programs both domestically and internationally. In the US, Canada, and the UK, WE Day and WE Schools are initiatives of WE Charity that educate and empower young people.... WE Day is a series of inspiring events that celebrate youth making a difference in their local and global communities."

WE Day is a hyuge entertainment event which gets hyuge coverage from Canada's controlled media. Along with other WE events, it features lots of people with celebrity status and hyuge star power, notably the Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of All Canuckistan. Yes, Mr Socks is a hyuge fan of WE, and does everything in his power to help them do good.

But the desire to help the yoof of Canada and the world doesn't stop with Just In. The whole Trudeau family is involved. His mother, Margaret, makes frequent appearances at WE Day and other events, talking about mental health, with which she has some experience. So does brother Alexandre, and even Justin's cute blonde wife, Sophie Gregoire, has appeared on occasion.

Isn't that wonderful of Justin and his family, to support WE so wholeheartedly? So virtuous! So eager to help! And so generous with their time and effort. Right? Errr, not quite. Within the last few days, some embarrassing news has emerged in the wake of M Trudeau's government's decision to give WE Charity a sole-sourced (read: no competition) contract to administer the latest Liberal giveaway of taxpayers' money -- the Canada Student Service Grant programme.

As I said, Mr Socks is happy to do everything in his power to help his favourite charity... and his friends... and his family. It turns out Mama Margaret, unlike other "stars" who've appeared onstage with the (((Kielburgers))) et al, has been getting paid. How much? She has received for her "work", both before and after her son became PM, a total not unadjacent to C$250,000.

Brother Alexandre got less than 1/8th of that amount, araound C$30,000. And Sophie Gregoire Trudeau got a paltry $1500, and that was before her hubby became PM, so that's OK then.

But (the Liberal apologists are saying) those payments were made by ME to WE and WE Charity before the contract (since quickily cancelled) was let. So where's the conflict? How about this.... The National Post reports today that M Trudeau asked WE Charity to host a 2017 Canada Day weekend event on Parliament Hill, for which the government (read: taxpayers) paid $1,180,000. And yes, Mama Margaret was a featured speaker at the event, as was her son.

The same year, WE produced a campaign-style ad that appears to promote Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government while also doubling as a promo for the charity. Just a coincidence, probably.

Yes, there's conflicts aplenty in the relationship between the (((Kielburgers))) and the Trudeaus. But did Justin Trudeau consider this when the contract to run the $900,000,000 Student Services Grant programme was talked about around the cabinet table? Did he recuse himself from the discussion? Did he take no part in the decision? Errr, no.

And what did Mr Socks have to say for himself, once the media (even the CBC!) started asking questions? "I'm sorry. I should have known." That's pretty much all he said. It's the classic George Costanza defence, one on Seinfeld fans' favourite "George moments". Here's the clip.

Today's revelations cannot but intensify calls for Prime Minister Trudeau to resign, or at least step aside, and leave running the government to his deputy, the fragrant Chrystia Freeland. (The plain people of Canada cry, "Oh noooooo!!!) More excrement should interface with the air conditioning device today or tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Suggested name for the Washington (DC) football team

As widely expected, the NFL Washington Redskins have caved to the SJWs and their "woke" corporate sponsors and announced today that they would be dumping their Indian ["Native American", shurely! Ed.] warrior mascot into the same trash bin as Chief Wahoo, where they will soon be joined by Chief Black Hawk who looks like a twin of the Washington... errr... Native American, and perhaps even Notre Dame's Fighting Irishman. [What's wrong with him, ye spud-faced bastard!? Ed.]

All this was predicted by my goodself a year and a half ago. See "'Racist' logos, 'racist' mascots, 'racist' names - Where will it end?", WWW 30/1/18. Lifetime pct .983.

Of course the team name will have to change too. How can they keep on calling themselves "Washington" when they make their home at FedExField (formerly Jack Kent Cooke Stadium -- remember him?) in Landover MD? Is a puzzlement. I saw on the idiot's lantern today that the mayor of Washington DC is working on that problem. "First we have to seize the land," she said... if I heard her correctly.

The greater problem seems to be the second part of the team name. Some say that if you can have a football team called the Browns, and a baseball team called the Reds, and a hockey team called the Blues, what's wrong with "Redskins".

Aha! It's the "skins" part! Although not so heinous as the Word Which May Not Be Spoken Or Even Referred To By Its First letter, "Redskins" ranks right up there with "our little red brothers" [Ugh, kemosabe! Ed.] as one of the more foul racialized descriptives. It must go.

Just last week we reposted an anonymous fan's excellent suggestion for a new team name. See "Suggested name change for the Washington Redskins", 8/7/20. But for some reason, "Washington Foreskins" has not made the short list. So it's up to Walt, as usual to come up with a name which will offend no-one and satisfy everyone. Are ya ready?

Really ready?
Here `tis. (Drum roll please, Ed.)

The Washington Generals! The team's owners said that the new name should have some military connotation, and of course the Washington connection must be kept, so "Washington Generals" is perfect!

But (I hear you say), there's already a team with that name! They used to play against the Harlem Globetrotters, although of course they weren't in the same league. (Geddit?) True enough, but the key phrase there is "used to". After over 60 years of playing -- and losing -- to the showboating and basketball tricks of the Globetrotters, the Generals hung up their sneakers five summers ago.

They closed up shop with the worst record in sports history, having won one (1) game and lost more than 16,000. Their name became, like that of Harold Stassen, a synonym for losing, so much so that Krusty the Clown could bet on the Generals to win and we were all supposed to get the joke.

So there's the perfect name. The old logo of the tiny white dude flailing aimlessly with a ball held over his head would have to change, of course, but a similar image, in which whites would be shown to be inferior, shouldn't be hard to design. And Everyone That Counts would be happy. Right?!

Guilty of plagiarism? Princeton profs publish "anti-racism" demands

Seems like just yesterday [It was just yesterday! Ed.] Walt told you about the ridiculous list of demands made by the Faculty Association of California State University (not to be confused with the University of California) to combat the "systemic racism" which exists in their alleged university, as well as American society generally. See "Reverse racism demanded by California State U faculty", WWW 8/7/20.

Many of those demands, including a "dedicated black-only student space" (read: segregated housing) on campus, have started to pop up at universities across the country, including Princeton, which just last month bowed to the anti-racist mob by voting to remove the name of former President (of both Princeton and the USA) Woodrow Wilson from its School of Public Policy and International Affairs.

The Daily Princetonian reports that over 350 faculty members at the once-prestigious Ivy League university have published an open letter charging the school for its alleged "anti-Black racismL, and demanding "anti-racist action" and "diversity in decision-making". But the target is not just Princeton, but the whole world! "Given Princeton's influence," the signatories write, these "principled steps" are designed to "move the dial further toward justice for...the world."

Let's have a look at the 48 "anti-racist" demands. Some of them seem, errr, kind of racist, but you be the judge.

The letter calls for non-white faculty (only) to receive extra sabbaticals, extra pay and extra awards to compensate for the "invisible work" they do. Such as what? The letter states that minority professors are called upon to "chiefly and constantly 'serve' and 'represent' [racial diversity] in the interest of administrative goals."  Back in the `60s some people called that "hiring a niggler to sit beside the door."

The authors complain that just 7% of tenure-track faculty are non-white. How do they know? In South Africa, in the apartheid days, they measured people's lips and checked the texture of their hair. Anyway, the writers suggest giving those oppressed few "a full year of course relief" (meaning no teaching) so they can seek out and recruit more faculty of colour.

More ominously, an "outside committee of academics, law professors, artists, and cultural advisors from communities of color" are to be brought in to make decisions about "race, racism, anti-racism, and racial equity" that will impact the entire campus, while an "internal committee of faculty and students of color" must be appointed to hold the university accountable for carrying out these outsiders' orders.

The university's departments will be rewarded for making diversity hires, but those who don't will be punished! The letter-writers want Princeton to "enforce repercussions" for those departments that "show no progress in appointing faculty of color." Any hiring process that shows "no evidence of a concerted effort to assemble a diverse candidate pool" is to be quashed, and (presumably) the HR people re-educated.

The push for de facto segregation -- let's not beat about the bush here -- includes paying minority students to mentor underclass(wo)men of their own race. Administrators are to hold "semesterly open conversations" only with "students, faculty and staff of color" – no whites allowed!

The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity is ordered to work with individual departments to devise tailored plans for "anti-racist research, teaching, hiring, and retention", to ensure that no discipline can squirm out from under its responsibility to redress centuries-old grievances.

All faculty must undergo anti-bias training, and standardized testing should probably be abolished because it's "strongly correlated with the underrepresentation of people of color on college campuses."

Princeton's website must include a line on its homepage acknowledging that the campus is built on "indigenous land". But wait, there's more....

The letter-writers want a faculty committee -- themselves??? -- tasked with "investigation and discipline of racist behaviors, incidents, research, and publication on the part of faculty." Sounds like an Orwellian type of thought police to enforce the parody of tolerance that has become the new normal in academia, the media and liberal politics. See "Noam Chomsky on the 'Crisis of Democracy'", WWW 1/7/20.

But let's give credit where credit is due. The authors of the letter suggest that Princeton "acknowledge, credit, and incentivize anti-racist student activism". To start with, there should be a "formal public University apology to the members of the Black Justice League" and other sometime students provoking, orchestrating and taking part in the wave of "anti-racist activism" -- complete with riots, vandalism and violence -- that is now sweeping over America's universities, and indeed, the Excited States of America itself.

Further reading: "Now It's Woodrow Wilson's Turn", by Patrick J. buchanan, Taki's Magazine, 30/6/20. "The cultural revolution has come to the Ivy League..."

"If you're white, then you MUST be a racist!"

Following our current them of "progressive" intolerance (see yesterday's last post, below), here's a little flow chart that proves that no matter what you say or what you do, if you're white, you're a racist!

Now go out, locate the nearest non-white (preferably non-Asian too) and "take a knee." Shame on you, you guilty white person!

At last people are starting to speak out vs "progressive" intolerance

Imagine that! Just a few days ago Walt posted a very positive review ("Read the book!") of Hate, Inc., in which Matt Taibbi criticizes the narrowing of the parameters of debate on social and political issues, and the culture of conformity being imposed by the political, business and media elites.

Now comes news* that dozens of artists, writers and academics have signed "A Letter on Justice and Open Debate", published in Harper's Magazine, decrying the weakening of public debate and warning that the free exchange of information and ideas is in jeopardy amid a rise in what they call "illiberalism."

J.K. Rowling, Salman Rushdie and Margaret Atwood are among dozens of writers, artists and academics to argue against ideological conformity. Another signatory is cognitive scientist Noam Chomsky, whose interview with Matt Taibbi forms an appendix to Hate, Inc. We posted a couple of pithy excerpts in "Noam Chomsky on the 'Crisis of Democracy'", WWW 1/7/20. Included in that post is a video in which Prof Chomsky's book Manufacturing Consent is summarized in under ten minutes!

Academics on the list of more than 150 signatories hail from American universities such as Princeton, Yale, Harvard Law, Brown, Rutgers and more. They wrote (collectively) that the "needed reckoning" regarding racial and social justice "has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity."

"More troubling still, institutional leaders, in a spirit of panicked damage control, are delivering hasty and disproportionate punishments instead of considered reforms," the letter continues. "Editors are fired for running controversial pieces; books are withdrawn for alleged inauthenticity; journalists are barred from writing on certain topics; professors are investigated for quoting works of literature in class; a researcher is fired for circulating a peer-reviewed academic study; and the heads of organizations are ousted for what are sometimes just clumsy mistakes."

The letter says, "The forces of illiberalism are gaining strength throughout the world.... But resistance must not be allowed to harden into its own brand of dogma or coercion.... The democratic inclusion we want can be achieved only if we speak out against the intolerant climate that has set in on all sides."

*Just Fancy That Dept.: When Ed. went to Google to research this story and get the Harper's URL, the top three returns led to The Grauniad, New York Times and WaPo.

According to Matt Taibbi and Dave Rubin (in Don't Burn This Book) those are the three papers most guilty of pushing the kind of forced ideological (i.e. left-liberal) purity of which the signatories to the letter complain. Probably just a coincidence.

Further reading: "Learn How to Spot Fake News", Chapter 8 of Dave Rubin's Don't Burn This Book (Signal, 2020). Excerpts:
Newsrooms are now filled with progressive activists who bend the truth, as opposed to old-school professionals who feel a duty both to themselves and their audience.... News is a business like any other. Although we'd like to think that the business it's in is to inform and enlighten, we should always remember that it's really in the business of keeping our eyes on the TV or our fingers clicking.
Matt Taibbi's point exactly! Hey, you don't have to read only Chapter 8. Read the whole book!

Suggested name change for the Washington Redskins

Agent 9 forwards an e-mail supposedly written to Chicago Tribune sports columnist Clarence Page after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.

Dear Mr. Page,
I agree with our Native American population. I am highly jilted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins.

One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay.

We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.

Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 1960s alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folks.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives.

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.
The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.

The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.
The Milwaukee Brewers. Well, that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children.

So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing Congress loves.

As die-hard Oregon State fans, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than the Beavers, especially when they play Southern California. Do we really want the Trojans sticking it to the Beavers?

I always love your articles, and I generally agree with them. As for the Redskins name, I would suggest they change the name to the Foreskins to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dickheads in Washington, D.C.

Sincerely, Anonymous

Poor Len Canayen adds: What about those Chicago Black Hawks?! (And yes, it's supposed to be "Black Hawks", not "Blackhawks".) Offensive to two racial groups?

Telling the truth for over 11 years now

Dang! Ed. forgot... again... to remind me that we passed another anniversay last week. The day was 3 July 2009, a day like all days, filled with those events that alter and illuminate our times. And, for the very first time, Walt Whiteman was there! [Or here? But that's neither here nor there. Ed.]

Since then we -- your obdt. servant, Poor Len Canayen [and Ed.! Ed.] - have put up well over 4000 posts, only a handful of which have been deleted, although some of the videos have disappeared thanks to the PC police at YouTube. We have been helped immensely by Walt's dozens of Agents. You know who you are, and thank you!

Thank you, too, to our assiduous readers. Remember, your comments are always welcome. Click on the headline of any article and it will open in a separate tab or window, with a "comments" box below. Ed. moderates the comments so it's pointless to call me a racist (see profile), but civilized dissent will be published.

And remember... the truth is not "out there". The truth is here!

Reverse racism demanded by California State U faculty

I see that, following the death of George Floyd, the Faculty Association of California State University (CFA) has made some demands, reported [a bit belatedly? Ed.] by the Daily Caller. The faculty union has a lengthy shopping list of concessions, handouts and other assistance for "Black, Native and Indigenous" students who have been so terribly, terribly hurt by the systemic racism in the university and American society generally.

What, I wonder, is the difference between "native" and "indigenous" students? Do they mean the folks we used to call "Indians" or "Native Americans"? After four centuries, aren't black people indigenous to America? White people too? But let's get on with it. Ed. will highlight [in blue, of course. Ed.] the buzzwords and loaded phrases currently fashionable with the anti-everything left.

The CFA states that "it is not enough to condemn this public execution [of George Floyd] that calls lynching to mind," and that the university needs to fight racism by:

- Making tuition free for minority students, to reverse the decades-long trend of declining enrollments among these demographics. This means overturning Proposition 209, which was approved in 1996 and prohibited California's state institution from considering race, sex, or ethnicity in public employment, effectively banning affirmative action.

- Requiring at least one "ethnic studies" course as a graduation requirement, because the infrastructures of universities are grounded in a "white supremacist colonial discourse and culture" and "the current course content condones 'spirit murdering'."

- Mandating consistent campus-wide training on "unconscious bias" for all university personnel who interact with students and faculty.

- Recognize the "cultural taxation" placed on black students and faculty, who "are asked to speak for all Blackness on the campuses in committee meetings, as advisors for student groups, as well as in their classrooms", creating a "unique burden placed on ethnic minority faculty in carrying out their responsibility to service within the university."

- Heeding "the voices of Black students across the country as they call for universities to divest from police institutions, for the removal of this deeply racist institution from our sites of higher learning, and toward the full abolition of the police."

- And, last but certainly not least... Creating a black student centre [complete with basketball court? Ed.] to serve as "respite for black students".

That's enough demands for help [preferential treatment? Ed.] for "Black, Native and Indigenous" students. I am waiting for the faculty associations of Howard, Tuskegee, Fisk and other historically black universities to publish similar lists of demands for the equal treatment of minority white students at those institutions. But I'm not holding my breath.

A few well-chosen words about immigration

The controlled media* would have you believe that, four months out from the 2020 election, the majority of voters think the Excited States of America should be governed by the Democratic Party, the party of Barack Hussein Obama, Nervous Nancy Policy and and Chuck "Impeach Him Again" Schumer. And of course Sleepy Creepy Joe Biden, who, the meeja tell us, will beat Still-President Trump without even breaking a sweat. [Didn't we hear the same thing four years ago? Ed.]

Immigration, of course, will not be a major issue this time because everyone can see that the President's attempt to close the border is xenophobic and racist, while the Democrats' position on the issue is sensible, progressive and humane. Here's a sample.

"We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States. But those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law, and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law.

"We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, and lawfully to become immigrants into this country."**

Wait a minute. Isn't that something that President Trump said? Nope. It was then-Senator Obama, back in 2005, before he became the Prez. Didn't he change his mind later? Nope. Here's what he said in his 2013 State of the Union address.

"Real reform means strong border security, and we can build on the progress my administration has already made -- putting more boots on the southern border than at any time in our history and reducing illegal crossings to their lowest levels in forty years.

"Real reform means establishing a responsible pathway to earned citizenship -- a path that includes passing a background check, paying texes and a meaningful penalty, learning English, and going to the back of the line behind the folks trying to come here legally."**

This is a bit hard to believe. Anyway, Obama's not President any more. Real liberals like Chuch Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are the leaders now. Funny you should mention them. Here's what Mr Schumer said in a speech at Georgetown University in 2009.

"The American people are fundamentallyu pro-legal immigration and anti-illegal immigration. We will only pass comprehensive reform when we recognize this dunamental concept.

"First, illegal immigration is wrong. A primary goal of comprehensive immigration reform must be to dreamatically curtail future illegal immigration."**

As Ms Pelosi said, "We all agree we need to secure our borders, while honoring our values."**

So that's the Democratic position now? To me it sounds the same as what President Trump has been saying. My dear, that's exactly the problem. If Trump says it, it's wrong! Therefore, the position of the Democratic Party now is the polar opposite of what it was back in the day.

Recognizing that anti-immigrant backlash contributed greatly to the election of the Donald, the Dems now advocate open borders, amnesty for the illegals ["undocumented", shurely. Ed.] and more welfare for all. Can you say "hypocrisy", boys and girls? No? How about "flip-flop"? I knew you could.

Thomas Sowell destroys the arguments for multiculturalism

Thomas Sowell is an American economist and social theorist who is currently a senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He was born in North Carolina but grew up in Harlem. And he is... wait for it... black. [Aren't we supposed to capitalize that, now? Ed.]

You might expect him to be supportive of the liberal ideal of multiculturalism as shown above. You would be wrong. In an essay entitled "'Multicultural' Education", Prof. Sowell avers that most of the arguments for that concept are so flimsy, inconsistent, and downright silly that it is hard to imagine that they would have been taken seriously if they were not backed up by shrill rhetoric, character assassination, and the implied or open threat of organized disruption and violence on campus.

In this essay he tackles, one by one, four Big Questions raised by the multicultists:
- Why do we study Western civilization, to the neglect of other civilizations?
- Why are the traditional classics of Western civilization written by dead white males?
- Don't we need multiculturalism to get people to understand each other and get along with each other?
- How are we to be part of the global economy, or engage in all sorts of other international activities, without being multicultural?

The essay is not long, worth reading in full. Thanks to the good folks at Blazing Cat Fur for letting us know about this.

VIDEO: Walt suggests a slight change to this patriotic song

Since no-one up to and including Still-President Trump seems willing or able to prevent anarchy's headlong descent into rioting, chaos and anarchy, Walt suggests the time has come to ask the Deity (not his Prophet!) for help.

It really doesn't seem that there's a whole lot to cheer about this Fourth of July. But if all Americans, or at least 50% + 1 (so to speak) will take this to heart and do the right thing in November, Walt and Poor Len [and Ed.! Ed.] hope to make up for our lack of enthusiasm on July 4, 2021.

Meanwhile... what is needed is a minor change to the lyrics of this song, made famous by Kate Smith. DEL "Bless" and INS "Save". That should do it.

A message from Walt to the anti-everything protesters

A Pew Research national survey released this week shows that more than 70% of Americans are "angry" about the "state of the country". Just 17% say they are "proud" when thinking about the present situation in the Excited States of America.

The survey also found "only minor demographic differences in reported emotional reactions about the state of the country." For instance, "two-thirds or more across all age groups" were "angry about the state of the nation." In addition, the poll found that identical shares of white and black adults (72% each) say they feel angry, while roughly as many Hispanic adults (67%) are "angry" as well.

To all those who will be tempted to take to the streets tomorrow, The Glorious Fourth, to vent their anger, Walt has this to say:

Just for this one day... OK?!

Footnote: The signing of the United States Declaration of Independence, authored by Thomas Jeffeerson and a committee of five, occurred primarily on August 2, 1776 at Independence Hall (the Pennsylvania State House) in Philadelphia. The 56 delegates to the Second Continental Congress represented the 13 former colonies which had declared themselves the "United States of America," and they endorsed the Declaration of Independence which the Congress had approved on July 4, 1776. All of the signatories were white males of European descent. Some of them were slave-owners. Get that in ya!

A Canuck replies: Canada has much to be proud of!

In response to our pre-Canada Day post, Agent 6 says that, although Canada someetimes feels like a third-world country [Canuckistan? Ed.], it has a lot to be proud of, to stand up for. Our agent refers us to "Standing up for Canada", an essay by Spencer Fernando of the National Citizens Coalition, which appeared on their site yesterday, Canada Day. It's worth reposting in full.

With Canadian Values & History Under Attack, Canadian Patriots Must Fight Back

Canada has much to be proud of.
We have built a technologically advanced nation. We have welcomed people from across the world into the Canadian family.

We have often lived up to the inheritance of western civilization and democracy that we were blessed with, building a country that offers a larger degree of freedom than almost any other nation.

We have fought on the side of freedom and justice in two world wars, and played a key role in the fight against fascism and communism.

For all those reasons and more, Canadians should feel proud of ourselves for the country we have built.

We should also feel proud of those who made all of this possible, including our first Prime Minister John A. Macdonald. If Canada is a great country today, then it couldn’t have happened without those who helped create the country in the first place. While no historical leaders look perfect in the context of the modern world, they must be judged relative to other world leaders, and in that regard, the Fathers of Confederation come out far ahead.

And yet, despite these obvious reasons to feel proud of Canada, the reality is that Canadian patriotism and history is under attack like never before.

This is an attack from within, pushed largely by radical far-left ‘academics’ who teach nothing but hatred for everything Canada stands for, demonize our history, promote communism, give a free pass to China, and seek to purposely divide everyone along race, gender, and tribe.

They have indoctrinated many, and the indoctrination continues. Many of those academics are outright communists and marxists, and are somehow allowed to push that horrendous agenda while working at public institutions largely funded by your tax dollars.

Their indoctrination creates the kind of thinking that leads a sitting PM to claim Canada is currently committing genocide, and pushes our elites to think that the brutal Chinese Communist Party is somehow a moral equivalent of our democratic allies.

It’s the kind of thinking that leads the Chronicle Herald to issue a disgraceful trigger warning about the Canadian flag, as if they should be concerned someone would be ‘upset’ by seeing the flag of our nation.

It’s the kind of thinking that leads the City of Calgary to have been fine with large protests earlier in June, while issuing a warning that Canada Day events will be “shut down.”

And it’s the kind of thinking that leads the City of Regina – in a province where Conservatives won 14 out of 14 seats, to talk about the Sir John A. Macdonald statue representing “a harmful legacy to members of our community,” and saying they are “reaching out for guidance on responding to harmful legacies.”

If a statue of John A. Macdonald can be on thin ice even in a deeply Conservative province, that tells us how far the radicals have gone in their infiltration of institutions and their growing control over the narrative.

As we watch all of this, it’s easy to think that it’s just some temporary craziness that will go away. But it won’t.

The radicals are seeking to rule by fear, pushing the most extreme agenda while denouncing anyone who disagrees as a ‘racist.’ They count on regular, good, patriotic Canadians like us to just hope it all disappears and ‘goes back to normal.’ While we wait, they push and push and push, seeking to overturn everything and replace it with the 'woke inquisition' of guilt, chaos, and violence.

They seek to turn patriotism into a taboo, and try to falsely convince people that Canada’s history is all bad with no redeeming qualities. Of course, if we lose our history, if our nation is demonized, and if patriotism is demolished, then Canada’s future will be disastrous.

A country that forgets its foundation, forgets its values, and stops defending itself will soon lose that which made it special, and all those things we are proud of will not endure.
That’s why those of us who are proud of Canada, those of us who are patriotic Canadians must fight back.

We need to stand against attempts to remove statues of our historic leaders.
We need to push back online and in person when we see people trying to divide Canada and demean our history with marxist rhetoric.

We must draw attention to the fact that all these groups pushing radical ideas don’t represent Canadian values, but in fact represent the same kind of radical leftist extremism that has led to so much destruction and violence around the world.
And we must be confident enough to recognize that we have every right to be proud of Canada and to be Canadian patriots.

On Canada Day, we must recognize that an ideological battle is underway, and rededicate ourselves to stopping the subversion of our nation. We must ensure that all we have built is not destroyed by those who hate our country.

Noam Chomsky on the "Crisis of Democracy" + VIDEO

Here is an excerpt from Matt Taibbi's interview with (((Noam Chomsky))), "Appendix B" to Hate Inc., which I reviewed last the weekend.

The Crisis of Democracy, which came out in 1975 [was] the first publication of the Trilateral Commission, which is a group of liberal internationalists from Europe, United States, and Japan, three main centers of capitalist democracy.

...The "Crisis of Democracy" is that in the 1960s, all kinds of sectors of the population that are supposed to be passive and apathetic begin to try to enter the political arena to press for their own interest and concerns, and that imposes too much of a burden on the state, which becomes ungovernable. So, what we need is "more moderation in democracy." That's their phrase. People should go back into their corners and leave it to us.

In fact, the American rapporteur Samuel Huntington looked back kind of nostalgically to the Truman years. He says Truman was able to govern the country politically with the aid of just a few Wall Street bankers.

Then we had democracy. But he goes after the media. he says the media have bcome too adversarial, too independent. We may even have to institute government controls to try to contain them, because of what they're doing.

That's the liberal position. The Trilateral Commission also went after what they called the de-legitimation of the universities. They said that the institutions -- and this is their phrase -- these institutions responsible for the "indoctrination of the young" -- are being de-legitimized.

We've got to have more indoctrination. Remember, that's the liberal end of the spectrum. Over to the right wing, you get much harsher things... but that's the intellectual background. We've got to stop "too much democracy," "too much freedom."

The 1960s were always called the "Time of Troubles". That was a time when all this started.

The emphasis is mine. I've been saying as much since the hippy-dippy `60s, which I remember well. Just because Prof. Chomsky is a leftie peacenik doesn't make him wrong. I'm putting Manufacturing Consent, recommended by Matt Taibbi, on my reading list. Oh... wait...

You can stop listening at 8:35 when the speaker starts talking about the Iowa primary (although it's a good example of the media manipulation under consideration.) What precedes that part pretty well sums up what both Noam Chomsky and Matt Taibbi are saying. It all has to do with money. Surprised?
