True stuff: Just when you thought "media English" couldn't get worse

Seen on Canada's Global News website.

Apostrophe errors are commonplace nowadays, but this is the first time I've seen this one. Guess they don't teach spelling in J-school any more... if they ever did.

What's in a name?

The surprise (?) appearance of Meghan Markle at the memorial for the victims of the Uvalde school massacre -- see this morning's update to yesterday's post --  has the Internet ablaze with rumours that the Princess of Woke, tired of being a nobody, is planning a run for a high elected office in 2024.

How high would the office have to be to get Ms Markle to give up her position as Duchess of Sussex. Let's see... Governor of California? Not enough? How about President of the Excited States of America? Kamala Harris, who is poisesd to succeed Sleepy Joe Brandon, must be quaking in her boots to find a younger Person of Colour thinking of throwing her do-rag in the ring.

It is said that Ms Markle has the Clintons and the Obamas behind her, so if she wants to go, she can rely on the power of their names. Names can mean a lot... or nothing at all... as Walt found reading "What's in a name?", a section of the "All-new True Facts 1985" issue of National Lampoon "the Humor Magazine for Adults", now on sale in our sponsor's Webstore. Here are just three of 20 True Names.

Jaguar Ferrari Tonniges, of Lincoln NE, named his newborn son Austin Healy Tonniges, carrying on a family tradition begun by his father, who named his children after his favorite sports cars. Besides Jaguar Ferrari, twenty-three, the elder Tonniges has two other children, Lancia Lemans, twenty-two, and Aston Martin, eighteen.

Dr Ngozi Aa-Anubiaimhotepokorohamz, of Raleigh NC, gave her newborn son eight thousand names, which she claims is a world's record. Reported the child's complete name will fill thirty-four single-spaced typewritten pages.

The baby's name will start with Dr Semaj (the first five letters of his names are "James" spelled backward), followed by the names of several world heads of state, a few historical names, some ancestral names, some names of people who might influence the child's life, and the mathematical term "pi". The baby's name begins with "Dr", the mother said, "to emphasize the importance of a name."

Aal-Anubiaimhotepokorohamz and her husband changed their names and those of their children three years ago. They used to be named McGirt.

A twenty-three-year-old man was arrested in London, England, for blocking traffic outside Parliament while he played the clarinet for twoo hundred fellow demonstrators. The demonstration was in opposition to the arrival of American nuclear weapons in Great Britain, explained Martin Felix Oddsocks McWeirdo El Tutti Fruiti Farto Hello Hippopotamus Bum.

Just in case you think they made this stuff up, each item has a citation. Truth is stranger (and often funnier) than fiction. If you decide to buy something from our sponsor's collection of National Lampoon mags and Doonesbury books, tell `em Walt sent ya!

UPDATED: Thoughts on the Uvalde massacre

Do not look here for witty comments on the massacre of nearly two dozen innocent people -- most of them children -- at Uvalde TX. Don't even expect a lengthy "think piece", as I have no questions that haven't already been asked, no solutions that haven't already been proffered. I have only these few thoughts....

25 years ago, in A Walk in the Woods, Bill Bryson asked what kind of world we live in where even park rangers carry service revolvers. Bill, that is not all the world, just the American part of it. The "gun culture" has become hard-wired into Americans. Many think, with some cause, that if everyone else has a gun, why should I be the only one unable to defend myself?

Park rangers carry sidearms, one supposes, because they are responsible for the safety of park users. They might need to shoot a bear or a rabid skunk... or a stalker who prowls the woods looking for innocents to rape or murder. (Bill Bryson writes of a double murder, still unsolved, in Shenandoah National Park.) By that reasoning, it may be that teachers, responsible as they are for the safety of their pupils, should carry guns.

That thought has been expressed before. After Sandy Hook. After Columbine. These tragedies dramatize the question of gun control -- should there be more or less? -- which dominates political debate this week.

The SJWs, Democrats and other liberals seize on the opportunity to express outrage and demonize conservatives, Republicans and other law-and-order types. So we have the disgraceful exhibition of Beto O'Rourke (D) interrupting the press conference of Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) to score what can only be called a political "own goal". Shameful.

The anti-Trumpers, SJWS, BLMers etc are having a much harder time with this one than with the Buffalo massacre. They can't put it down to anti-black racism / white supremacy, because the shooter and victims were all (apparently) Hispanics. And the murderer wasn't an illegal alien either, so those arguing for or against amnesty have nothing to say.

But the loony left and t hose pushing the "diversity and inclusivity" agenda will keep trying. One of the more ridiculous appeals I've seen is that of Jaden Janak, a PhD candidate at the University of Texas and a junior fellow at the Center for Applied Transgender Studies. "These children and adults who were murdered yesterday were just living their lives," Mr/Ms/whatever Janak said yesterday. "They didn't know that yesterday was going to be their last day. And similarly, as trans people, that's a fear that we have all the time." Oh dear...

Enough politics. To close, I want to talk about the expressions of grief and other responses to this and just about every other similar incident. "Thoughts and prayers" is such a tired cliché, so overworked, that people (particularly politicians) seem to feel something further must be done to honour the dead, and show sympathy and support for the bereaved.

"Taking a knee" is too political a statement. So we have the lowering of flags on public and private buildings even beyond the border of the US of A. (Agent 3 reports that this has been done at schools in a suburb of Toronto.) So often does this happen that it's becoming unusual to see flags flying at full staff. Upon seeing a flag at half-staff [not "half-mast". Ed.], people ask "Who's died now?" The gesture is now so commonplace as to be meaningless.

So also with the makeshift memorials of flowers, candles, balloons and teddybears which appear within hours at the site of any violent death, whether criminal or accidental. Putting a stuffed animal on the pile in front of the crime scene is nothing more than virtue-signalling, like placing a wreath on a war memorial.

What good do these "tributes" do for those who have died, or for their grieving families? Within a couple of days, the toys and flowers become nothing more than a pile of trash, to be removed under cover of night by the sanitation engineers. Wouldn't it be better to contribute to a GoFundMe appeal to help with funeral expenses, or a worthy charity which is trying to help heal our sick society?

UPDATE ADDED 27/5/22: Canada's Global News reports that Meghan Markle, the Princess of Woke, yesterday visited the memorial site for the victims of the Uvalde school massacre. Dressed in attire appropriate to the occasion, she placed white flowers tied with a purple ribbon at a memorial outside the Uvalde County Courthouse. Mercifully, she refrained from making a speech.

The Duchess of Sussex (her other title) lives in California with her husband Prince Hairy and their two mixed-race children. Further comment from me would be superfluous.

True Facts Dept.: There are no more gypsy moths in Canada

If you live in, say, Oscoda County MI, and wake up to see one of the trees in your yard looking like this

what would you do? What would you do?! Why, call the Oscoda County Gypsy Moth Program, of course. They are conveniently located at 311 Morenci Ave, in beautiful downtown Mio MI [pronounced My-O-My? Ed.] and will come and raid the disgusting gypsy moths, to kill `em dead!

If, however, you live a few hundred miles to the east, on the other side of the World's Longest Uncontrolled Border, at the west end of Lake Ontario, your search for help with pest control will be fruitless. Unless, that is, you say you have an infestation of "spongy moths". Not "gypsy moths".

Officially, there are no gypsy moths in the Canada of King Justin the Woke. No more "gypsies" either. The word "gypsy" is offensive to the Roma people [not to be confused with "Romans". Ed.], so the decades-old Toronto police "gypsy squad" has been disbanded, and the other parasites, pictured, have been renamed.

This week, the City of Hamilton ON and the nearby Royal Botanical Gardens started an aerial spray to reduce the population of spongy moths in areas that are out of control. Spongy moths are an invasive species that feed on tree leaves and in some cases evergreen needles. They are controllable with a pesticide called BTK, which doesn’t fully remove the caterpillars, just regulates the population.

Private citizens can buy BTK at stores. Be sure to ask for it by name, so you don't get gypped buying an inferior product.

To blacks fed up with American racism - "Go back to Africa!"

Q. What do Ghana, Rwanda and Liberia have in common... apart from being the kind of African countries sometimes referred to as "shitholes"?
A. They have all been suggested as good places for African migrants to return to when they say they are unhappy [and/or unwelcome! Ed.] in Europe and/or North America.

Ed. has been doing some research, and discovered a growing GBTA (Go Back To Africa) movement in the US of A. Just over two centuries ago, the movement was spearheaded [Careful. Ed.] by white people who wanted to send slaves back home. Now it's the descendants of slaves who are raising the GBTA petitions. More about that below, but first let's look at where they could go, and ask Thomas Hardy's question: Can you ever go home again?

Liberia began in the early 19th century as a project of the American Colonization Society (ACS), which believed black people would face better chances for freedom and prosperity in Africa than in the United States. Between 1822 and the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, more than 15,000 freed and free-born black people who faced social and legal oppression in the USA, along with 3198 Afro-Caribbeans, relocated to Liberia.

The Liberian constitution and flag were modelled after those of the United States while its capital was named after ACS supporter President James Monroe. The settlers brought their culture and traditions with them, and an "Americo-Liberian" identity soon became dominant in Libria, with the Liberians descended from the ACS immigrants now regarded as somehow superior, like the descendants of the Mayflower Pilgrims or the FFVs in America.

Liberia's last 40 years have been marked by political instability and horrific violence rooted in ethnic divisions. In April of 1980, a military coup led by Master Sergeant Samuel Doe of the Krahn ethnic group overthrew and killed President William R. Tolbert, Jr, one of the "Americo-Liberians" along with  a majority of Tolbert's cabinet and other Americo-Liberian government officials.

After Liberia adopted a new constitution in 1985, Mr Doe was elected president in subsequent elections that were internationally condemned as fraudulent [unlike the American election of 2020. Ed.] There followed a series of coups and counter-coups until in 1989 a rebel group led by Charles Taylor, launched an insurrection in 1989 triggering the First Liberian Civil War.

From 1989 to 1997 around 60,000 to 80,000 Liberians died, and, by 1996, around 700,000 others had been displaced into refugee camps in neighboring countries. A peace deal between warring parties was reached in 1995, leading to Mr Taylor's election as president in 1997. Under his leadership, Liberia became internationally known as a pariah state due to its use of blood diamonds and illegal timber exports to fund the Revolutionary United Front in the Sierra Leone Civil War.

The Second Liberian Civil War began in 1999 when a rebel group based in the northwest of the country, launched an armed insurrection against Charles Taylor. In March 2003, a second rebel group began launching attacks from the southeast. Mr Taylor resigned in August 2003 and went into exile in Nigeria, from where he has been sending letters and emails begging for help in getting his money out. [Ed., you might want to check that last bit.]

In 2005, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, another Americo-Liberian, was elected president, an office she held until 2017, when a former soccer star, George Weah, was sworn in. He promised to fight corruption, reform the economy, combat illiteracy, and improve living conditions. None of this has happened, as yet, but hey, it's Africa.

Walt told you all ye need to know about Rwanda in "Back to Africa with ye!" - BoJo to asylum-seekers", WWW 14/4/22. It is notorious as the site of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, also known as the genocide against the Tutsi. Members of the Hutu ethnic majority in the east-central African nation murdered as many as 800,000 people, mostly of the Tutsi minority.

Started by Hutu nationalists in the capital of Kigali, the genocide spread throughout the country with shocking speed and brutality, as ordinary citizens were incited by local officials and the Hutu Power government to take up arms against their neighbours. A Disunited Nations "peacekeeping" mission, led by a Canadian general, stood idly by.

By the time the Tutsi-led Rwandese Patriotic Front gained control of the country through a military offensive in early July, hundreds of thousands of Rwandans were dead and 2 million refugees (mainly Hutus) fled Rwanda, exacerbating what had already become a full-blown humanitarian crisis.

Yet now the Rwandan government is happy to accept immigrants, refugees and asylum-seekers -- even Hutus -- from any African country. They made a deal with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to take back some of the 1000s of bogus refugees crossing the English Channel to seek refuge in Old Blighty. In a speech at the Channel port of Dover, BoJo said, "From today...anyone entering the UK illegally as well as those who have arrived illegally since January 1 may now be relocated to Rwanda."

Among the progressive voices decrying the British government's plan to get rid of at least some of the unassimilable black people who have washed up on the shores of the septic ["sceptred", shurely. Ed.] was that of the Washington Post, which is as anti-racist and woke as any newspaper in the world. Yet the same WaPo has now given a goodly amount of op-ed space to an American Woman of Colour named Karen Attiah, for a piece headed "For African Americans tired of U.S. hostility, Ghana is still calling", 18/5/22.

What Ms Appiah suggests is that if African-Americans are fed up with the systemic racism of American society, they might be happier if they move to Ghana! Seriously! I checked the dateline on the article, and it's not April 1st.

The author cites the example of W.E.B. Du Bois, a hero of American Communists, pictured in the article living in Ghana, standing beside his Russian-built Chaika limousine. Just four years after Ghana's independence (before the wheels fell off, see above), Mr Du Bois, then 93, moved to Ghana and became a citizen.

Ms Attiah tells us Mr Du Bois had endured Jim Crow racism, FBI surveillance and the confiscation of his passport, and decided it was enough. He handed White America a scathing resignation notice, in the form of a poem, "Ghana Calls", which is quoted at length.

Ms Attiah concludes that "the truth remains that Black people in the diaspora no longer have to be chained to countries that jail them, kill them and subject them to horrific hate crimes.... To borrow from Maya Angelou, God gave us traveling shoes, and if Black people choose to use them, so be it."

Let me tell you about Ghana. Its history, since gaining independence from Not-so-great Britain in 1967, has rivalled that of Liberial (see above) for coups, civil war, tribal warfare, and barbaric violence. According to a 2018 study by the Pew Research Center, roughly three-quarters of Ghana residents want to immigrate to the USA or Europe. That's why they infest dating and romance websites, looking for gullible westerners from whom they can cadge money or a visa or both.

Ghana is plagued by significant human rights issues, according to the US State Department, including "serious restrictions" on free expression and freedom of assembly [Worse than Canada? Ed.], serious government corruption, "lack of investigation of and accountability" for gender-based violence, crimes against LGBTQ2SI+++ people and those with disabilities, and some of "the worst forms of child labor."

Buggers beware! Ghana is one of 69 nations with active anti-sodomy laws and stipulates a prison term of three years for engaging in homosexual sex. Last year, proposed legislation in the country reiterated a ban on same-sex marriage while prohibiting LGBT indoctrination. [Hmmm. Maybe it's not all bad. Ed.]

The country continues to struggle with economic troubles which were worsened by the recent coronavirus pandemic. Last summer, 1000s of protesters marched in the capital against corruption, poverty and the education system (?) under the slogan "#FixTheCountry". So why does Ms Attiah (and presumably WaPo) recommend it?

Well, it's all part of the ongoing liberal Democratic campaign to portray the US of A as a systemically racist country. Recently, CNN's "political reporter" (read: propagandist) Malika Henderson, reacting to President Brandon's crocodile-tear-filled speech in Buffalo, said that "white Americans have to come to terms with their racism."

Last month, loony left 1619 Project creator and professor Nikole Hannah-Jones said she did not know how anyone could argue that the US was not "founded as a racist country." And in March, another WaPo piece accused many Americans of denying and downplaying rampant racism throughout the country, claiming the killers of Ahmaud Arbery "stand in for millions of Americans" nationwide who believe that skin colour deems one "less worthy."

Walt says, if that's how you feel, you're welcome to follow Ms Attiah's suggestion and Go Back To Africa -- Ghana, Rwanda, Liberia, any of those shitholes. I'll help you pack your bags. Don't slam the door on your way out.

UPDATED: Monkeypox: haven't we seen this movie before?

Readers of a certain age [Not you, Jimmy. You're too young. Ed.] will remember HIV/AIDS, the Great Plague sent by God to punish us for the promiscuity and perversions which had become "normal" in the hippy-dippy 60s. The loathsome disease originated in central Africa, and is similar to a simian virus found in chimpanzees.

The earliest known infection of an identified human being dates back to 1959, found in a plasma sample taken from an adult male living in the Belgian Congo (later Zaire and now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). It was widely assumed that it was transmitteed by that person, or someone he knew intimately, having sex with a chimp.

In fairness, it's equally possible that transmission occurred when that person ate a chimp, or "bush meat" as it is known in Africa. Or it may have occurred when chimps were used in developing a polio vaccine for humans.

In any case, an African passed on the disease to Gaëtan Dugas, a Canadian flight attendant, who was once regarded as "Patient Zero". M Dugas, who died in 1984 from kidney failure caused by an AIDS-related infection, was very open-minded when it comes to race, and evidently a very active homosexual [A gay flight attendant? Really? Ed.], and was found to payed a role role in a cluster of 40 cases in wait for it... New York and San Francisco. The rest is history.

Fast forward six decades to this spring, when we were alerted by the World Health Organization [WHO? Ed.] to a sudden and dramatic rise in the incidence of monkeypox, a viral disease endemic in central and west Africa. The name comes from the initial discovery of the virus in monkeys in a Danish laboratory in 1958. The first human case was identified in a child in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (again!) in 1970.

According to the United Nations Aids agency (UNAIDS), "a significant proportion" of recent monkeypox cases have been identified among "gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men". But how did it spread to Europe and America so quickly? More than 100 cases of monkeypox have now been reported across Europe, with a handful (so far) in New York and, through an illegal border crossing at Roxham Road QC, to Montréal.

The UK Health Security Agency has said a notable proportion of recent cases in Britain and Europe have been found in gay and bisexual men. Where did they get it? Probably at the Maspalomas Pride Festival held in the Canary Islands between the 5th and 15th of May. The queerfest attracted some 80,000 visitors from Europe and Africa, including many who have since tested positive for the monekypox virus.

Meanwhile, the usual suspects have told the media to STFU about any links between the monkeypox cases and the LGBTQ2S+++ celebrations, warning that "racist, homophobic and irresponsible language is undermining the response to the outbreak, by "reinforce homophobic and racist stereotypes and exacerbating stigma."

Experience shows (the same people are telling us) that Èstigmatising rhetoric can quickly disable evidence-based response by stoking cycles of fear, driving people away from health services, impeding efforts to identify cases and encouraging ineffective, punitive measures." So forget you read this, and stop talking about it, OK?!

Footnote: Smallpox vaccine is said to be 85% effective against monkeypox, so, if you're 60 or under and were never vaccinated against smallpox, book your appointment now. Although, if you're straight, white, and avoid sexual contact with monkeys and other at-risk groups, you'll probably be OK, even without the jab.

UPDATE ADDED 27/5/22: Canada's Global News reports that monkeypox cases in Canada are suspected to have originated at G.I. Joe's, a Montréal sauna frequented by members of the fudge-packing community. The country's first two cases were reported by Québec public health officials on May 19th.

Officials say the majority of confirmed cases in the province are tied to men aged between 20 and 30 years, who have had sexual relations with other men. There has been one case in a person under 18.Until now, government officials have steered clear of confirming the origin of the loathesome disease due to "concerns of privacy and stigmatization."

Mother Miriam calls Synod on Synodality "deceptive" and "a sham"

Ed. here. Walt is recovering nicely but doesn't feel up to writing. so we are reposting, from LifeSite News, the text of a recent episode of  "Mother Miriam Live", in which Mother Miriam warned the faithful about the Pope of Woke's worldwide "Synod on Synodality". She said the Vatican may seek to use the programme to overhaul the Church in ways contrary to the Faith.

Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God, as she is now called, is known to many in the Catholic world. Born and raised in a Jewish home in Brooklyn, Rosalind Moss embraced Jesus as the Messiah of the Jewish people as an adult.

The longtime Benedictine nun and Catholic apologist declared that she will not participate in the Synod, describing it as "a sham" and a "plot" and linking it to a broader push for global control.

The Synod on Synodality, launched by Pope Francis last year, is currently in the diocesan phase, requiring bishops to hold "listening sessions" to gather opinions of Catholics and non-Catholics alike and discern "how God is calling us to be as the Church in the third millennium." [Click here to see actual video clips from one of these Kumbaya-fests, held recently in a diocese in Newfoundland. Ed.]

According to the Synod handbook, local responses will then be "synthesized" by the Vatican as the basis of working documents for the Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in October 2023. The initiative has repeatedly been embroiled in controversy, including over dissident affirmations of homosexuality and suggestions of female ordination by Synod leaders.

"I don't believe that those handling the Synod could care what anybody says in a listening session or what their feedback is," Mother Miriam said. "They already have their plan. They’re doing this to make us feel that we are part of it and that what they're doing is the majority opinion, even if it's not ours.

"It's absolutely false," she continued. "It’s completely deceptive. Our opinion, our listening has nothing to do with their plans. We're pawns in their program, and they could care less."

Mother Miriam noted that she wasn't speaking of individual bishops or dioceses, but of "those at the Vatican who have perpetrated this.... So, I would not or be a part of a listening session," she recommended, "and if you do, don't be deceived that what you think or anyone or anyone else thinks is going to have any bearing on the corruption being spread on us throughout the world."

She also predicted that the Vatican would use the Synod to attempt radical changes unsupported by faithful Catholics and point to the listening sessions as justification. "I don't believe that their listening sessions or our responses to them are going to have anything to do with what the Church, the Vatican, is going to put on us," she said. "Absolutely not. I think it's a ploy to make us think that this was the response of Catholics, and it is not."

Heterodox Cardinal Mario Grech, the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops and an outspoken backer of the LGBT movement, has hinted at as much, saying that the Synod on Synodality will help to "find truth" and inform possible doctrinal changes by Pope Francis.

His under-secretary, Sr. Nathalie Becquart, has asserted that the Pope intends to "disconnect participation in the leadership of the Church from ordination" and "get rid of a clerical church" [!!!] through the initiative.

And Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, relator general of the Synod, recently claimed that the Church’s millennia-old condemnation of sodomy is now "false" because "the sociological-scientific foundation of this teaching is no longer correct" -- comments that Australian Cardinal George Pell has called "explicit heresy."

VIDEO: Michael Matt asks: Is the church of Francis going gay?

Ed. here. We don't want to leave this space unfilled while Walt is away, so are pleased to repost -- as a service to all who are still being conned by the mushy, let's-all-hold-hands-and-sing-Kumbaya version of Christianity being peddled by the mainstream Catholic Church, the latest video from Michael Matt, editor ot The Remnant newspaper.

Today, Mr Matt accuses Francis, the Pope of Woke, of sidelining the Church while George Soros and the Davos gang push us ever close to the WEF New World Order.  propoono return, The Globalist Pope continues to remove Christianity as an impasse to the New World Order.

Mr Matt's target is Pope Francis' latest wheeze, the so-called Synod on Synodality. Ever notice (he asks) how the Vatican is long on listening but short on specifics? What exactly do they want to change, and why won't they just come out with it? Instead of telling us what he wants to do, Francis says he's going to spend two years listening to us, so that when he makes radical |"reforms" in 2023 he can claim he"s only doing what the people want.

But, is that true? Absolutely not! Mr Matt argues that what they actually want is to edit the Bible, ignore Natural Law, and silence Jesus Christ on the most controversial moral issue of the day: homosexuality. Are the Catholic faithful demanding change, or is this just what Francis wants to do? Watch this video and decide for yourself.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

"Summer of rage" = Civil War v 2.0? - NOT a new idea!

This morning's headlines...
1 dead, 5 critically wounded after shooting at church in gun-controlled California
2 killed, 3 injured after shooting at busy Houston flea market

And so it begins... No. That should be: And so it continues.
President Brandon, and all the other liberal loonies acting like this weekend's mass murder in  Buffalo is something new (and obviously the fault of President Trump!) seem to have forgotten about "race riots" (as they were called in more innocent times) in:
Detroit - June 1943 - President FDR (Democrat)
Watts - August 1965 - President LBJ (Democrat), the great champion of equal rights and "freedom now"
Newark - July 1967 - President LBJ (again)
Detroit - July 1967 - aka the 12th Street Riot, aka the Detroit Rebellion - President LBJ (yet again)

I don't remember the 1943 event very well, but the Detroit Rebellion is clear in my mind. You could see the smoke from across the river in Canada, which is where sensible Americans went to wait it out. And of course there was the TV news. Images of mobs of black people (they weren't "Black", back then) in the streets, protesting discrimination and racism, demanding equality and justice...

...and maybe doing a bit of "reparations shopping". Of course it wasn't called that, in those more innocent days. It was called "looting", `cause that's what it was! Martin Luther King would be horrified, I think, to see what's being done nowadays, in his name and in the name of "justice".

"No justice, no peace!" That's what they're yelling now. In the long hot summer of 1967, it was "Burn, baby, burn!" The point of yesterday's  post was to predict another long hot summer, a "summer of rage". Lifetime pct .991.

I think now that I should have added "and riots" to that phrase. But the message was clear enough for our sponsor to call to let us know that a civil war between blacks and "others" was predicted in  the January 1980 "Fantasy Issue" of National Lampoon, "the Humor Magazine for Adults". Check this out!

This excellent piece of satire, written by John Hughes and superbly drawn by George Evans, could never be published today. The editors would probably report the creators to the Department of Homeland Security's new "Disinformation Governance Board", so they could be re-educated in a pleasant summer camp somewhere in Alaska.

Fortunately, the DHSDGB has not yet been able to destroy the archives of National Lampoon and other politically incorrect publication. Our sponsor has made a .pdf file of this prescient piece, which you can buy for only $2.00. Hard copy is also available. Tell `em Walt sent ya!

Coming soon to YOUR city -- a summer of rage!

There are three big news stories this weekend, all related. Just the facts, first, and I'll tie them all together at the end.

Item: Yesterday, in a predominantly black neighbourhood of Buffalo NY, an 18-year-old gunman wearing tactical gear opened fire in a busy supermarket, killing ten people (at last count) and wounding three others. The shooter, now in police custody, was identified as Payton Gendron, of Conklin NY, a town some 200 miles SE of Buffalo.

Mr Gendron is white, and was immediately labelled as a "white supremacist" by New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochula, who hates white supremacists. "It strikes us in our very hearts to know that there's such evil that lurks out there," she said. "This individual – this white supremacist – who just perpetrated a hate crime on an innocent community, will spend the rest of his days behind bars. And heaven help him in the next world as well."

Item
: In Milwaukee WI, 21 people were injured in three separate shootings, in an entertainment district where 1000s had been watching the Bucks lose to the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals.

Three people were shot near the Deer District outside Fiserv Forum toward the end of Friday night's game, sending fans fleeing through the streets. One person was injured in a second shooting before a third shooting less than a mile from the arena left 17 people with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man and a 16-year-old girl who were injured in the first shooting were transported to a local hospital Friday night, while a third person drove there, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department. All three have non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a 19-year-old man was in custody from the first shooting and that charges were pending a review by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office. No arrest has been made in the second shooting. Ten people were taken into custody and nine firearms were recovered from the third shooting, according to police, which described the incident as an exchange of gunfire between two groups of people.

Nothing has been said about the race of anyone involved in these incidents -- not the victims, not the suspects, not the arrested man, and certainly not the "groups of people". Can the police and politicians of Democrat-controled Milwaukee not say "gangs" or "black"?

Item: While other events were unfolding in Buffalo and Milwaukee, 1000s of people -- mostly angry white women, to judge by the photos and video clips -- took part in "mostly peaceful protests" across the Excited States of America to decry the Supreme Court's expected reversal of Roe v. Wade.

Organizers -- these were not spontaneous events -- said there were more than 380 protests in cities from coast to coast, including Democrat-controlled Washington DC, New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. Those cities, especially Mayor Lori Lightfoot's Chicago, are not known as havens of peace and tranquility, but signalling to "organizers" (read: Rise Up, Antifa, BLM et al.) that they can take to the streets without fear of prosecution is "not helpful".

Earlier last week, Mayor Lightfoot had to defend herself against backlash after she tweeted that the draft SCOTUS opinion in Hobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization was a "call to arms" [not "firearms", shurely! Ed.] for those in the LGBTQ2S+ etc etc community.

Conservative figures, including Rep. Lauren Boebert, (R-CO) and Fox News' Laura Ingraham, accused Ms Lightfoot of seeking to incite violence when she tweeted on Monday, "To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community -- the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms." Ms Boebert told Sean Hannity on Wednesday, "If anyone in America is an insurrectionist, it's little Lori."

Last Thursday, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) wrote to the Justice Department. Citing Ms Lightfoot's tweet, condemned a coordinated campaign of intimidation and threats to the SCOTUS justices. "The comments made by the president's staff and members of the Democratic Party threaten the safety of members of the Court," he said.

Indeed. Not to mention the safety and security of people who live in cities such as Buffalo, Milwaukee, and Chicago, and just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when "mostly peaceful protests" turn violent, or when mindless or insane violence breaks out on its own. If you live in a big American city -- a Democrat-controlled city -- take care.

AFTERTHOUGHT, added at 1810 - Apparently I didn't make clear the connection between the first item (the Buffalo mass murder) and my prediction of a summer of rage. I have been told [already! Ed.] that I'm making the same point as crazy Nancy Pelosi and the rest, that "white supremacists" are responsible for all the rage and hatred afflicting America today. Not so.

What I predict... and it's started already... is that the SJWs and other usual suspects will be baying for the blood of the possibly demented kid who shot up the Tops supermarket, and for all whites guilty of being white. Signs reading "No justice, no peace!" have already appeared, the cries for vengeance are loud in the land. Except for Milwaukee of course because, well, see the second item.

If I were white and had the misfortune to be living or doing business in Conklin NY, or even Buffalo, I'd be boarding up the windows and starving the hounds. The sound you hear tomorrow and in the coming weeks will be that of the BLM shithammer striking!

VIDEOS: Persecution of Chinese Catholics worsens as Commies arrest Cardinal Zen

In one of my earliest posts on WWW, "Zen and the maintenance of the Faith - the REAL Catholic Church in China" (WWW 15/7/09), I summarized the efforts of the Freemasons and leftists in the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church to hand control of the Church in China to the Communist-founded, schismatic Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association.

In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI had written (or at least signed) a letter urging Chinese Catholics who remained in the "underground Church" -- loyal to Rome, not to Beijing -- to reconcile with the Commies' CPCA.  Not long before the Pope's letter appeared, the then Archbishop of Hong Kong, Joseph Zen, was elevated to the rank of cardinal, and given a special mission to "bridge the gap" between the Holy See and Beijing.

Imagine the consternation in the Vatican Secretariat of State when Cardinal Zen, rather than toeing the party line, turned out to be a tireless champion for religious freedom! He insisted that you can't be truly Catholic and truly Communist at the same time, and he exhorted Chinese Catholic leaders -- especially those of the "official" church recognized by the government -- to be more courageous in resisting compromise, and especially in rejecting the claims to authority made by the CPCA.

Two years later, in "Communist Chinese persecution of Catholic Church intensifies" (WWW 24/8/11), I reported that 1000s of Roman Catholic bishops, priests and laypeople have been arrested, imprisoned, tortured, even executed, because of their persistent refusal to join the "official" CPCA. Cardinal Zen excoriated Vatican attempts at rapprochement, saying that the imboglio confirms the lunacy of attempting to appease and co-operate with a Communist régime.

To abandon the fight against Communism, the prelate said, is to say that the thousands of Chinese Catholics who gave up their freedom and often their lives for the sake of fidelity to the Roman Church were wrong, and that their sacrifices were for naught.

A profile of Cardinal Zen is included in the latest video from Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper. Warning to faith followers of Pope Francis: This is really strong stuff. It will make you cringe, and cringe you should!

In this video, Mr Matt condemns the virtual non-response of the Vatican to Wednesday's arrest of Cardinal Zen by the Communist authorities in the so-called Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, which has sparked outrage from clergy and politicians around the world. It is no exaggeration to say that the arrest marks a new low for a Chinese Communist régime that has already sunk to shocking levels of inhumanity, barbarity, cruelty and mendacity.

Cardinal Zen was accused of "allegedly colluding with foreign forces" for his role as a trustee of the 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund. which  was established to offer legal, medical, psychological and emergency financial assistance to those involved in the 2019 protests against the Communist government's Extradition Law Amendment Bill, which would have allowed prisoners to be transferred to China for trial.

Cardinal Zen is 90 years old. If the Commies had run true to form, they would have let him die in jail. Fortuntely, worldwide expressions of shock and outrage forced them to release the prelate shortly after his arrest.

In this video, Dr Taylor Marshall and John-Henry Westen, editor of LifeSite News, discuss the history of the persecution of the underground Church in China by the Chinese Communists, whom Pope Francis and his Secratary of State seem unable... or unwilling... to oppose.

As Mr Westen says, the Vatican, in the agreement with Communist China negotiated by Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin (aka "Peter of Rome"), fed the Chinese faithful to the lions!

For details of Cardinal Zen's denunciation of the capitulation of the mainstream Church to godless Communism, see "Vatican-China agreement 'terrible, terrible, terrible'" (WWW 4/12/19) and "Cardinal Zen decries/Vatican defends sell-out of Chinese Catholics" (WWW 3/3/20.)

Responding to the arrest of Cardinal Zen, the Diocese of Hong Kong issued a statement later saying the diocese "is extremely concerned about the condition and safety of Cardinal Joseph Zen and we are offering our special prayers for him. We have always upheld the rule of law. We trust that in the future we will continue enjoying religious freedom in Hong Kong under the Basic Law. We urge the Hong Kong Police and the judicial authorities to handle Cardinal Zen’s case in accordance with justice, taking into consideration our concrete human situation. As Christians, it is our firm belief that: “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.” (Psalm 23:1)

Our Lady of China (中华圣母) pray for Cardinal Zen, for all Catholic Chinese, and for all who hold and teach the True Faith.

Pro-abort protesters descend on Justice Alito's home

The demonstrators...were a useless mob of ignorant, chicken-shit ego junkies whose only accomplishment was to embarrass the whole tradition of public protest. They were hopelessly disorganized, they had no real purpose in being there, and about half of them were so wasted on grass, wine, and downers that they couldn't say for sure [where they were].

Dr Hunter S. Thompson was writing (in Fear and Loating on the Campaign Trail `72) about leftist loonies massing in the streets of Miami Beach at the 1972 Reublican convention, not the mini-mob who gathered a couple of nights ago outside Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's house in Alexandria VA.

About 200 equally loony, but better-organized pro-abortion activists marched down the street, some using megaphones to lead the crowd in chants of  "You don't care if people die," and "My body, my choice," which sounded a bit off, since some of those yelling appeared to be men. (They could have been trans-gendered persons; you never know these days.)

This was part of a wave of public protests against a possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, the nearly 50-year-old ruling that imposed abortion on demand on all 50 states, as suggested by a leak of Justice Alito's draft of the majority opinion of the Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization

Shouting out for "justice", the crowd threatened, "If we don't get it, burn it down!" and "When abortion rights are under attack, what do we do? Rise up, fight back!" The mostly peaceful protest was led by the anti-establishment group "ShutDownDC", which accused Justice Alito of wanting to "take away our rights. But our rights are fundamentally ours. We’re showing up to tell him in person."

After having demanded that SCOTUS "keep abortion safe and legal," the protesters assembled in front of Justice Alito's house to deliver prepared speeches. One speaker claimed that "forcing people to carry unwanted pregnancies will cause unnecessary death and lifelong injury, both physical and mental." Whose "unnecessary death" he was referring to wasn't made clear, but probably wasn't the innocent baby still in his mother's womb.

It wasn't only Justice Alito who was targeted. Earlier last week, the pro-abortion group Ruth Sent Us doxed the five conservative members of the Supreme Court, posting their streets on online and calling for protests. Over the weekend, protesters demonstrated outside of the private residences of Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts. Perhaps they hadn't heard that Chief Justice Roberts disagrees with the majority, and is writing the minority opinion.

Meanwhile, there is still no news of the investigation into the source of the leak of Justice Alito's draft opinion. Last week, former Attorney General Bill Barr said that the Roberts may need to appoint a special counsel to identify the culprit(s), who, he said, could be charged with obstruction of justice.

"I think the Chief would have had the option, and perhaps he still will, to appoint a special counsel," said Mr Barr. "Not in the classical criminal sense, but the court can appoint a counsel and he could bring in a former US attorney or someone with a criminal law background. And I’m sure he would get the support he needed from the FBI or any other law enforcement agency."

Walt is available to take charge of the investigation for a nominal fee. It shouldn't take too much sleuthing, since the names of the two leading suspects are already known.

They don't make `em like that any more

Walt thanks Agent 5 for sending along a fond look in the rearview mirror at the kind of people who used to live in the White House, a long long time ago. What a contrast with recent occupants!

Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or more important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents preceding him. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence Missouri . His wife had inherited the house from her mother and father and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.

As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food. When he retired from office in 1952 his income was a US Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There was no Secret Service following them. When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

Even later, on 6 May 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!"

Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.

What a pity [the anonymous author of this piece says] that we can't dig up Harry Truman and clone him. They don't make `em like that any more!

Unrest grows, at home and abroad

Walt has been quiet for the last couple of days, waiting for other shoes to drop in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and the Excited States of America. Here's the recap.

The presidential election in the Philippines turned out as Walt predicted. (Lifetime pct .992) Bongbong, aka Ferdinand Marcos Jr., son of the late Philippines dictator of the same name, is riding on a tsunami of votes.

He has 30 million so far, more than double the total of his rival, the current Vice-President, Maria Leonra "Leni" Robredo.

36 years after protesters drove his dad out of office, Bongbong will become Pinas' latest "strongman president". Ms Robredo, predicts that his election will sanctify and perpetuate the abuses of his father.

Against all such criticism, in Marcos strongholds in Bisayas (the nicest part of PI, IMHO), the historic family name holds an almost messianic appeal over impressionable and celebrity-struck people who don't know or don't believe the tales of corruption and dictatorship that marked his father's 21-year rule.

In the province of Leyte, ancestral home of his 92-year-old mother Imelda of the 1000 Shoes, the junior Marcos is seen as a man of the people, even though he's lived a life of wealth and privilege few Pinoys can imagine. Such is the power of political family names, like "Kennedy" and "Clinton" and [Next item please. Ed.]

In another poor country which seems to be sliding from third-world status to fourth-world, Sri Lanka, mostly peaceful protests against leftist misrule have turned violent.

Walt has lost touch with his agents in Colombo and Kandy [Are you there? Send word! Ed.] but understands that a curfew is now in force across the country after mobs burned down homes belonging to the ruling Rajapaksa family and their cronies (such as government minister Sananth Nishantha, whose blazing house is shown below) amid mounting anger at the economic crisis.

Last night's violence capped a day of unrest that saw Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa quit, but this failed to bring calm. Crowds besieged his residence, from which he was evacuated in a pre-dawn operation amid tear gas and warning shots.

Protests are continuing despite the curfew. Seven people have died and over 200 have been injured so far this week. The island-wide curfew has been extended until Wednesday morning as authorities seek to quell the violence.

Back in the USA, although Antifa and other woke, pro-abortion terrorists have mounted "mostly peaceful protests" in such leftist strongholds as Seattle and Portland OR, their efforts to fire up the citizenry [No more puns please. Ed.] haven't held a candle [Watch it! Ed.] to those of the righteously angry demonstrators in Sri Lanka.

Public opinion polls measuring the reaction to the leaked draft of the SCOTUS decision in the Hobbs case, suggest that the majority of Americans won't support attempts by Democrats and other liberals and leftists to codify "women's reproductive health rights", i.e. the right to kill babies if having them is inconvenient.

Meanwhile, Walt awaits news -- any news at all -- about the Marshal of the Supreme Court's supposed efforts to find and prosecute the source of the leak. Let me name names once again. Reports all over the Net identify Justice Sonia Maria Sotomayor and/or her clerk, Amit Jane, as the source of the leak. Has the Marshal interviewed either of them? We should be told!

Your elections this weekend

We concern ourselves, here on WWW, mainly with American and Canadian politics. But Walt has a soft spot in his heart [head? Ed.] for certain other countries -- especially Ukraine -- and a more-than-passing interest in still others. This weekend there is news from two of those "others", of elections that herald profound changes, maybe good, maybe not.

First to Northern Ireland, aka Ulster, which has been struggling for a century to rid itself of the British imperialists. [Your bias is showing. Ed.] Leading the fight to reunite the counties of the North with the rest of Eire is Sinn Féin, the political arm of the IRA.

Within minutes of taking his seat in Stormont (aka the Northern Ireland Assembly) in 1998, Sinn Féin's Martin McGuinness pointed his finger at Ian Paisley, leader of the Protestant Baskets Democractic Unionist Party, and declared, "We've arrived. Change is coming and there's nothing you can do about it." He was right!

Almost complete results from Thursday's election show Sinn Féin poised to replace the DUP as the largest party at Stormont, with its leader, Mary Lou McDonald becoming first minister. That will be a first for a nationalist party. A unionist party -- pledged to keep Ulster a part of the so-called United Kingdom -- has always been the largest in the Assembly, and previously the parliament, since the formation of Northern Ireland in 1921.

Voters in the Philippines go to the polls on Monday. I like the Philippines, and Filipino people, but they do seem to have trouble electing good governments, as a result of which the country suffers from poverty caused by incompetence, corruption and general misrule.

Part of the problem is the Filipino attraction to celebrities, even stronger than that of Americans. Only in America (some say) could movie stars and media personalities become governors, senators and even President. Not so! In PI they elect movie stars and singers, sure, but also boxers, beauty contest winners and celebrities of all stripes. Ordinary people -- the "Jose Rodrigues goes to Manila" types -- don't stand a chance.

If you watch the excellent GMA video of "Lupang hinirang", the national anthem of the Philippines, you'll see, at about 2:10, a nice image of a nun holding a rosary and celebrating the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. Millions of Filipinos from all walks of life marched along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), the main artery of Metro Manila, to end the dictatorship of President Ferdinand E. Marcos and begin a new era marked by true freedom and democracy.

Now, on May 9th, it looks likely that the same people who celebrated President Marcos' downfall will put his son, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., back into the presidensity. That's him -- little "Bongbong" (one of those Filipino "doorbell names") -- in the camo outfit, in front of his adoring father and Mother Imelda of the 1000 Shoes.

Young Mr Marcos has been busy rehabilitating the image of his kleptocratic parents. In his TV ads, as the voices of a choir soar to a crescendo, he raises a fist to his chest and speaks into the camera: "Together, we will rise again."

Should Bongbong be successful, it will cap one of the most remarkable resurrections since Lazarus. He has benefited from a campaign to reshape the narrative around his father, casting him not as the brutal dictator that he was, but a patriotic hero who oversaw a period of economic stability and growth for the Philippines. As the country struggles with the Wuhan flu and economic stagnation, many hope to see a return to this mythical golden era.

While Mr Marcos’ supporters argue that he should not be judged for the sins of his father, opponents fear he will continue the authoritarian trend started by outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, who launched a brutal war on drugs, locked up critics and attacked the free press. Mr Marcos has been boosted by the endorsement of... wait for it... Sara Duterte, the President's daughter, who is running for vice-president (elected separately in the Philippines).

Polling in the final week of othe campaign suggests Junior could win in a landslide. For the poor people of the Philippines, it looks like back to the future... and they will have no-one to blame but themselves.

VIDEO: Latest Wally winner

We introduced the Wally awards (originally called "Commies", but changed because, well...) for outstanding creativity in advertising. Previous winners have included TV spots for the Nissan Rogue (twice), the Bank of Nova Scotia ("Gear of a Champion"), Dairy Farmers of Canada (for telling the truth in 10 seconds), and the famous Olex caveman commercial.

That one appeared way back in 2015, and for some reason "caveman" commercials have been popular ever since. Perhaps they appeal to the primitive man in all of us. Or maybe they just tickle the funny-bone. Larry David has done some excellent work in this genre, but our latest Wally Award for Creativity in Television Advertising goes to the creators of "Early Adopters", a spot for Wealthsimple Crypto.

For those who haven't heard of it, Wealthsimple Technologies Inc. is an online financial services company that has seen a surge in new retail clients throughout the Plannedemic with its zero-fee trading platform. In this spot they're trying to talk us into investing in crypto currencies like Bitcoin. The appeal is to old fogies like Walt, who refuse to get in on the Latest New Thing.

Seems that clever advertising doesn't always help companies that market something that people are skeptical about. This week, Wealthsimple's largest shareholder devalued the stock by 20% as the broad-based sell-off of publicly traded technology stocks spreads to private markets.

IGM Financial, a subsidiary of Power Corp. of Canada, revealed in its latest financial statements released Thursday that it had marked down its valuation for Wealthsimple to $925 million as of March 31st, from $1153 billion at the end of 2021.

"This is not a reflection of the business model, its prospects or the management at Wealthsimple," said IGM CEO James O’Sullivan. "We are extremely proud of Wealthsimple as their largest shareholder but from a distance, you only have to look at the publicly-traded fintech companies to see that valuations have reset and so this reflects our judgment as to what an appropriate value is."

Maybe so, but if I played the markets, I'd be investing not in Wealthsimple, but in the advertising agency that created this Wally award-winning commercial.

What's happening with the SCOTUS Dobbs case leak?

"Be vewy vewy quiet. We're hunting leakers!... But we don't want to embarrass a Democwat appointee."

I'm pretty sure that's what the Hon. John Roberts, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, has told the Marshal of the Court. Because nothing but the sound of crickets has been heard from the latter since the beginning of the investigation into the leak of Justice Samuel Alito's draft of the decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, the ruling which seems set to overturn Roe v. Wade.

As Walt told you early yesterday, the source of the leak has been traced (according to social media) to the office of Justice Sonia Maria Sotomayor, the affirmative action appointee put on the shelf [bench, shurely. Ed.] by the Prez. (You didn't think President Brandon got the idea of appointing a woman of colour all by himself, did you?)

If Justice Sotomayor didn't give the draft to the lickspittle press in person, she carelessly left it on her desk where her very woke clerk, Amit Jain, could see it and act accordingly. That's the story circulating in the Swamp, and far beyond.

And yet, and yet... as far as Ed. can see, not a word of this has been published in any of the major media, including Breitbart News. Isn't that strange?  You'd think BN (or Fox at least) would publish the aforementioned names, just to get a reaction.

Consider this story, told by Hunter S. Thompson, Doctor of Gonzo Journalism, in Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail `72.

Legend has it that in one of his early election campaigns, Lyndon Baines Johnson was facing stiff opposition from a prominent Texan farmer.  He asked his aides what kind dirt would stick to his opponent, and was told the man was as scandal-free as any Texan politician could be.

"He's been happily married for 30 years, doesn't mess around with other women, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't gamble. There's nothing bad we can say about him!"

"Tell ya what," LBJ supposedly replied. "Start a rumor that he's been known to have carnal knowledge with his sows."

"What?!", shot back one of his helpers. "You want to call the guy a pig-fucker?! Nobody's gonna believe that!"

"I know," replied Mr Johnson. "But let's make the sonovabitch deny it!"

Walt wonders if the Marshal of the Supreme Court, or an investigative reporter for WaPo, or anyone else, has asked Justic Sotomayor (or her aide) if there's any truth to the very strong rumor. Let's hear them deny it!

Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization: Who sprung the leak?

Two days ago, in "Roe v. Wade to be overturned? What happens then?", Walt told you about the virtually unprecedent leak of a draft opinion in Case No. 19-1392 in the Supreme Court of the United States, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. If confirmed, the opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, would overrule Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision which made abortion on demand legal in the USA.

Chief Justice John Roberts said that the court's marshal has been directed to launch an investigation into the source of the leak. Walt suggested that Justice KBJ, the latest appointee to SCOTUS, be interviewed. It now appears that the leak was known as early as February, so the focus is now on an earlier diversity hire.

Justice Sonia Maria Sotomayor is an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She was nominated by the Prez [Surprised? Ed.] and has been sitting on the SCOTUS bench since August of 2009.

She is the third woman, first Latina and first Woman of Colour to hold the position. She is known to get her hair on fire about such liberal issues as abortion, the Dempanic, etc.

For example, Justice Sotomayor claimed in Jauary over 100,000 children are in "serious condition" with the Wuhan flu. Even WaPo was constrained to point out that while omicron does seem to affect children more than other variants of the coronavirus, the judge's figure was wrong by a factor of about 20.

Imagine Justice Sotomayor's chagrin on learning that SCOTUS was set to take away women's "reproductive health rights" (read: rights to kill their unborn babies). According to the leaked draft, she and two other judges -- Stephen Breyer and (((Elena Kagan))) -- oppose the ruling.

Could Justice Sotomayor be the source of the leak? The ultimate source, perhaps, but not even an AAA (Affirmative Action Appointee) would risk impeachment from a cushy job which is hers for life. She would be careful to preserve deniability, and set someone else up to take the fall.

Step forward Amit Jain, Justice Sotomayor's clerk. According to a story in International Business Times, Mr Jain has been identified "on social media" as the prime leaker. He was born, raised and educated in India.

Amit Jain was born and raised in India, and according to IBT was educated there. But according to another source, his LinkedIn account says he holds a B.A. in Political Science from Brown and a J.D. from Yale.

While at Yale law school, Mr Jain made headlines by blasting the university for its support of the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. He was quoted in a 2017 Politico piece by (((Josh Gerstein))), the reporter who, along with Alexander Ward, wrote the article in which the leaked draft was published.

Whereas Justice Sotomayor could be impeached, if it could be proven that she instigated or conspired in the leak, Mr Jain (if it was his doing) can merely be fired, and perhaps fined or jailed for violating his oath of confidentiality. While still at law school, he was a member of the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic, the Juvenile Justice Clinic, and the Housing Clinic, so on form he should have no trouble finding another job, perhaps as a political/legal advisor to the Democratic Party.

Walt congratulates J.D. Vance on OH primary win!

"Fear of illegal immigrants helps J.D. Vance triumph in Ohio's primaries" - Headline in The Economist today. When that's big news in the house organ of the World Economic Forum, you can bet that (((George Soros))) and the boys of Davos are shit-scared of what's going to happen in November. And so they should be. The victory of J.D. Vance is just an early wave in the Red Tide that's going to sweep over the US of A.

For those who haven't been keeping up, J.D. Vance is a venture capitalist, and author of Hillbilly Elegy (Harper Collins, 2016), a book described by Anne-Marie Slaughter as "a kind of post-election manual for understanding Trump voters." (Walt recommends Mr Vance's memoir of his Appalachian childhood most highly.)

Mr Vance won Ohio's super-competitive Republican Senate primary yesterday, buoyed by President Donald Trump’s endorsement in a race that the lickspittle media called an early test of the former president's hold on his party. If that's what it was, the Donald passed the test easily.

Mr Vance spent much of the campaign behind in the polls, but a late-stage endorsement from the former president appeared to make a hyuge difference. The two men downplayed any past tension, with Mr Vance saying he was wrong in his past scathing characterizations of the former president. In accepting the GOP nomination, Mr Vance said "This campaign, I really think, was a referendum on what kind of a Republican Party we want, and what kind of a country we want."

Mr Vance now faces Democrat Tim Ryan in the general election race to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Republican Senator Rob Portman. The 10-term Democratic congressman will have an uphill climb in a state which President Trump won twice by an 8-point margin, in spite of the usual shenanigans in Columbus and Cleveland. For more on how the Dumbocrats manipulate the polls in those cities, see Dr Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loating on the Campaign Trail `72 (Warner Books, 2006).

Tuesday's contest ushered in a more competitive phase of the midterm primary season, with closely watched races in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia scheduled for later this month. The election will culminate in November, when control of Congress, governor's mansions and key elections offices are at stake.

President Trump is using the primaries to build his reputation as a GOP kingmaker, and test his own popularity, as he mulls another presidential run. Addressing supporters in Cincinnati, Mr Vance thanked Mr Trump for his endorsement and attacked the media for highlighting his past criticism of the former president. "They wanted to write a story that this campaign would be the death of Donald Trump's America First agenda," he said, "[but] it ain't the death of the America First agenda."

Indeed. This is only the beginning! Need I say "stay tuned for more"?
