Uniparty politics FAILS in UK... still working in Canada though

    I often think it's comical... fa-la-ah-lah
How nature always does contrive... fa-la-ah-lah
That every boy and every gal
That's born into this world alive
    Is either a little Liberal
Or else a little Conservative! Fa-laaaa-lah!
Private Willis (of the Grenadier Guards), in Iolanthe, book by W.S. Gilbert

Ever since the electoral reforms of the mid-19th century, the Mother of All Parliaments -- the Westminster Parliament of the so-called United Kingdom -- has been dominated by a party of the left(ish) and one of the right(ish). The latter calls itself "Conservative". The "Liberal" party, as the former was known when W.S. Gilbert wrote those lyrics was supplanted in 1924 by the Labour Party, which, under Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, is now having its turn at bat.

The Right Honourable Mr Starmer has a rude awakening a couple of days ago when his party was thrashed in a local elections bloodbath which saw it routed on English councils, and destroyed in Wales and Scotland.

His Majesty's Loyal Opposition can take no cheer from the Labour debacle, as the Conservatives also lost hundreds of council seats across Once-great Britain. Labour also lost control of the devolved parliament of Wales, to the nationalist Plaid Cymru party, while the Scottish National Party kept its majority in Scotland.

While the slightly less leftish Liberal Democrats and the loony Green Party made gains, the big winner was the Reform UK party, led by Nigel Farage. Mr Farage now looks the best bet to be the next prime minister of the Disunited Kingdom, as pressure mounts on Sir Keir to fall on his sword. See "Over 100 Labour Politicians Call on Prime Minister Starmer to Resign After Election Disaster", Breitbart News, 10/5/26.

What we are seeing here is nothing less than the destruction of Britain's two-party system, where power is rotated between two parties with virtually indistinguishable liberal democratic policies, who might better be called not "Labour" and "Conservative" but "Ins" and "Outs".

Vote share projections by Rallings and Thrasher suggest that if a general election had been held on the same day as these local elections, Labour would have scored only 15%, with Reform on 27% and the Tories on 20%. The Greens and the Lib Dems were both on 14%. At a Westminster election those numbers would probably produce a hung Parliament, with Reform the largest party but well short of an outright majority.

Prime Minister Starmer has argued that his Labour party stands its best chance at political survival with him at the helm, rather than tacking to the left or right with a replacement leader. Speaking to The Observer yesterday Saturday, he said he hopes to be in power for the next eight years, meaning that he hopes to lead the party to victory in the next general election in 2029.

For his part, Nigel Farage boasted of a "truly historic shift in British politics" and said he is "heading for Number 10" (i.e. 10 Downing Street, the prime minister's residence), as Reform plundered seats in previous Labour strongholds in the North and Midlands. Mr Farage predicted that Starmer will likely be removed from office by mid-summer, and joked that he would be "very sad" to see Sir Keir ousted, adding "he is the greatest asset we have got."

Meanwhile the Canadian parliament continues to be controlled by the Uniparty, a de facto coalition of the leftish ("but not so much as under Trudeau!") Liberals and the rightish ("but not so much as under Harper!") Conservatives.

The only thing the two parties disagree on is who should sit on which side of the House of Commons. The general election of 2025 resulted in a hung parliament, with the "New Look Liberals" four seats short of a majority, In the year since, that embarrassing shortage of power has been rectified by the simple expedient of having three Liberals and one pinko (NDP-er) cross the floor to sit on the government side. Canuckleheads will now be ruled by the wokesters of the Laurentian Elite until the next election in 2029.

VIDEO: Victor Davis Hanson explains Americans' beef with Canada

This weekend, Canada's National Post* published a piece headed "Polls show Americans dislike Canada more than ever". The writer argues that's bad news for the Canuck Prime Minister Marx Carnage because his efforts to resolve the tariff war with POTUS, he is constrained because "there’s a point at which Canadians aren't going to accept big concessions [to the US]…until they get an apology" for all the "51st state" and other nonsense.

Ed. scraped this meme from the NP article, but hasn't explained what it means.

The writer goes on to say that Canadians' affection for America tends to rise and fall with whoever's in the White House. It dropped for Dubya, rose for the Prez, and then plunged during President Trump's first term, only to rise again with Demented Joe Biden asleep in the Oval Office.

In the first year of the Donald's second presidency, however, Canadians' fondness for their southern neighbour has plumbed new lows. And vice versa! Americans’ views of Canadians have also made a historic shift -- for the worse. According to a Gallup poll released this month, while most Americans see Canada favourably, that view is shared by only 80% of thoser polled, compared with 91% during the Biden years. That's the lowest level Gallup has seen since 1980s.

One of those no longer enamored of Canada -- or rather, the idiotic, ultra-woke policies of the Liberal government they keep voting for -- is our old friend Victor Davis Hanson. In this video, published on 19 March by the Daily Signal, Mr Hanson talks about countries which he thinks are reliable friends and allies of the US of A. Canada is not at the top of his list, for reasons which he explains. .

*Footnote: You may be interested [or not. Ed.] to know how the National Post got its name. I started to tell the shocking tale of greed and hubris, but it has already reached six paragraphs, so will save it for next time.

PPC leader Max Bernier asks tough questions about illegal immigration

Contrary to rumours being spread by Canada's controlled media -- not just the state-owned public broadcaster but every major fake newspaper -- the People's Party of Canada is still alive and still fighting for real Canadian values to be reflected in federal government policy.

In particular, they are the only federal party taking a hard line against illegal immigration: third-worlders crossing Canuckistan's porous borders, overstaying student and work visas, and avoiding deportation by crying "refugee".

Two million "temporary" residence permits are set to expire this year, and almost no-one is talking about what happens next. The plan being quietly advanced by the governing Liberal Party of Marx Carnage is to eliminate the backlog of refugee and asylum claims by a process of "mass regularization". That's Liberal-speak for letting them all stay,  no questions asked.

In this video, PPC leader Maxime Bernier speaks out against this secret plan, and asks whether or not Canada's laws actually mean anything.

The Plain People of Canada: What abouth yon Parti Québécois, then?

Hey, we said the PPC is the only federal party expressing Canadians' anger about uncontrolled illegal immigration. Things are different at the provincial level, when you get closer to the grass roots. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is at daggers drawn with the federal government, demanding that her province (Canada's version of Texas) have the right to enforce immigration laws and boot out those they don't like.

And in la Belle Province du Québec, at a time when support for Quebec separatism has reached one of the lowest ebbs of the last 50 years, voters seem about to hand the government over to le Parti Québécois, the province's historical standard-bearer for secession, now seen as "the most successful anti-woke party in Canada". That's PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon in the picture, giving The Salute. All good liberals know what that means, eh!

The PQ may simply be the most conspicuous beneficiary of a Canada-wide backlash to high immigration, racial hiring quotas, and the various other trappings of what the French call "wokisme". We don't need to translate, do we?

The party’s official immigration policy pledges to cap new immigrants at 35,000 per year, to place a permanent moratorium on "economic immigration", and to pursue "automation" and "roboticization" to lessen Quebec's dependence on immigrant labour.

M St-Pierre Plamondon has been a heterodox voice on cultural issues ever since becoming PQ leader in 2020. That year, he criticized the Montréal Canadiens' decision (since reveresed) to open home games with the vomit-inducing "Indigenous land acknowledgement", stating that it was inaccurate to characterize Montréal as sitting on top of "unceded" land.

Also in 2020, he was one of the few Canadian politicians to publicly question a federally driven push towards accusing Canadian institutions of "systemic racism". Then prime minister Blackie McBlackface had called "systemic racism...an issue right across the country, in all our institutions, including in all our police forces." But M St-Pierre Plamondon joined Québec Premier François Legault in questioning the claim's core tenet that any differential outcome among races was ipso facto evidence of racism.

In his first press conference after becoming PQ leader, M Plamondon said he wanted specific examples of discriminatory policies, rather than just blanket government declarations that everything was racist, "so we can come up with solutions that are connected to the diagnosis, rather than say it's out there, in the system." He added, "there is no doubt in my mind that the concept of systemic racism should not be taught in our secondary schools."

The Laurentian elites may be tut-tutting and crying "racisme", but pure-laine Canadiens are listening, and flocking to the Parti Québécois.  Suddenly, M St-Pierre Plamondon’s more heterodox positions suddenly aren't all that controversial. In late 2024, he publicly denounced the very idea of wokeism. He defined wokeism it as a political strategy of using guilt and disinformation in order to impose a political agenda through brute force.

On "Tout le monde en parle", Québec's most-watched talk show, he said that one signature technique of the wokesters is "the use of the words 'racist', 'intolerance', and 'phobe' to silence opponents." But, he said, "We can serve justice and we can serve equity without insulting and intimidating others."

Canada needs more political leaders like Max Bernier, Danielle Smith and Paul St-Pierre Plamondon. Let those who are afraid to speak out strongly for fear of being called "racist" etc take note.

Walt's prophecy of Emperor Trudeau III

1. In the year 1968 a plague was ravaging the land the Indians called Ka-na-ta, their word for "cold and dismal". The God-fearing, hardworking and docile people, whose totem was the industrious beaver, had been infected by the Hippie Virus, emanating from the Land of the Free, and had given themselves over to lassitude and hedonism. They wore strange clothing, ingested strange substances, and behaved in manners unacceptable to the great god Mammon.

2. By the grace of Business, whose great temples remain still on the Street which is called Bay, Ka-na-ta was ruled by the Natural Governing Party, which was called Liberal. Its great chief, at the time, was a feeble elder who was called "Mike", because his real name was "Lester", which the political rainmakers thought sounded less than manly.

3. So behold, a writ was issued by the chief rainmaker, summoning all Liberals to the village of Oddawa, that a new leader might be chosen. Let him be "cool", they said, that he might appeal to the sufferers from the Hippie Virus, and epitomize the counter-culture which they had embraced.

4. The leading contender for the leadership of the NGP, anointed by the Bankers and captains of Business, was a man named Winters, which sounded cool enough as it echoed down the canyons of Bay Street. But the scribes of the Red Star pronounced him "yesterday's man". A new generation was needed, they said, and his star was rising in the East.

5. And lo, there came from the province of Québec, whose tetrarch was John the Wise, three Wise Men (called "doves" in their own language), named Jean, Gérard and Pierre. The youngest of these, but also the wisest (so it was said) was Pierre, who was called Trudeau, which, in his language, meant "waterhole", or something like that.

6. Pierre met with the assembled Liberal chefs in April of 1968, and prate unto them, "It's spring!" So old man Winters slunk away, and Pierre took Mike's place on the throne of power, at the age of 48. There he sat there for over eleven years.

7. But before long, the people of Ka-na-ta began to speculate that Pierre, being unmarried and heirless as he approached his 50th birthday, might be a "homo", which, in those days, was their word for "gay".

8. Thus Pierre took unto himself a wife, a flower-child named Margaret, who, on Christmas Day of 1971, bore a son, of whom Pierre claimed to be the father. They called him "Justin", meaning "He who is the issue of Pierre, certainly not of Fidel or Mick Jagger".

9. Another seven years passed by. The people of Ka-na-ta grew tired of Pierre and, in the summer of 1979, put in his place a man known as Joe Who. Whereupon Pierre declared that the Liberal Party was no longer worthy of him, and retired.

10. The following winter, when the people seemed likely to plunge their daggers into Joe Who's front, as well as his back, Pierre took a walk in the snow, and had a change of mind, if not of heart. He spake to the people thus, "If you miss me already as much as you ought, I am prepared to come back."

11. And so he did, ruling for another four years, after which the people rose up and said to him, "We have been burdened with taxes and liberal ideology, and did we mention taxes, long enough. Go, already!" And so he did.

12. The Natural Governing Party wandered in and out of the wilderness for the next three decades, give or take, under four successive but not overly successful leaders, ending with the prodigal son known as Iggy (although his name was Michael), who led the race to the bottom in the spring of 2011.

13. Then the Business people looked down from the towers of Bay Street and saw that their Liberals were at risk of losing Natural Governing status; wherefore they bestirred themselves to search diligently amongst the bullrushes to find a new Michael, or better, a new Moses, who could lead the party back into power.

14. Lo and behold, the Red Star shone upon Justin, now 39 years of age and therefore sufficiently dry behind the eyes to take command, for did he not verily represent yet another new generation.

15. So it came to pass that Justin Pierre James Trudeau was crowned leader of the Liberal Party of Canada in 2013, and Prime Minister of Ka-na-ta, in 2015. He immediately set out to complete his father's work, to transform Ka-na-ta, once also known as the Great White North, into Canuckistan, now known as Something Else Entirely.

16. It took the Canuckistanis only three years to realize that they had made a Great Mistake in following yet another charismatic leader, and should not drink more of his KoolAid. But until 2022, in the eighth year of the reign of Trudeau II, they were mesmerized by Trudeau's sparkling eyes, nice hair, and other Red Star qualities.

17. Only now have the people awakened from their slumber and determined to rid themselves of their latter-day Neo. Alas for them, they have not yet had the opportunity so to do.

18. But the day is coming. Knowing that, the powers behind the Red Throne are searching for a new puppet, but not searching too hard for they know the next leader will be nought but a sacrificial lamb.

19. The minions of Mammon are clever. They know that it may take a decade or longer before they can pull the wool back over the eyes of the hapless Canucks. Thus their real quest is for someone who can take up the cause in the year 2035.

20. Step forward, then, Xavier James Trudeau, son of Justin and grandson of Pierre-Elliott, born on the 18th day of October, 2007. This fall, Xavier will be old enough to vote, and old enough to be elected. By 2035 he will be 28, the youngest-ever Emperor of All Canuckistan -- EmperorTrudeau III. So let it be written, say the Mammonites, so let it be done. Selah!

Mark Carney explains why he wants to lead the Liberal Party of Canada

The lists have closed. There are seven -- count `em 7 -- deluded Liberal dwarfs who want to lead their party to certain electoral defeat, and have somehow scratched up the 50,000 Northern Peso entry fee. To stay in the race, they will have to come up with another C$50,000 -- $35,000 in real money -- by next week and another C$250,000 after that.

The three leading Prime Minister wannabes are (in order of likely finish -- you read it here first!): Mark Carney (pictured below), Chrystia Freeland (Trudeau's bumgirl), and, in show position, Karina Gould, former government house leader who was forced to read Ms Freeland's latest economic mis-statement after the latter declined to do so.

The remaining four are (in no particular order): Chandra Arya (featured in WWW video, 9/1/25); Jaime Battiste, a certified and certifiable Indian First Nations person; Frank Baylis, an anglophone Quebecker who actually knows how to run a business; and Ruby "Slippers" Dhalla, who represents the Ontario riding of Bramladesh. Walt's advice: Bet the exactor with Carney + any of these four.

Why Mark Carney has thrown his top hat in the ring after denying any interest for many moons is a mystery. Where his entry fee comes from, along with a massive advertising budget (the Liberal Party imposes no limits on such) is, of course, no mystery at all. Walt's man in Ottawa says he was put up to it by George Soros and Klaus Schwab, since he is a former governor of two national banks (Canada and the UK), an approved enviro-wienie, and a true believer in the New World Order.

Two more Canuck Liberals run away from party leadership

The field of masochists vying to win the booby prize of leader of the Liberal Party of Canada got smaller today as two more prominent Grits balked at getting into the starting gate. Philippe Champagne, the Minister of Industry in Junior's cabinet, Christy Clark, the former premier of British Columbia both bowed out.

Their departures cast a spotlight on candidates' French language skills, and their ability to organize support in Québec, a province that's critical to the Gliberals' electoral fortunes.

M Champagne -- a likeable and not hopelessly incompetent gars de chez nous -- said during an armchair talk in Toronto that he plans to focus on ensuring the government [Is dis a government? Ed.] is ready to protect Canadian industry from the trade threats posed by President-Elect Trump. "It was probably the most difficult decision of my life," said Ti-Phil, "but I think it was the right one at the right time. There are many ways to fight for Canada."

Ms Clark said in a statement to her supporters that Blackie McBlackface had called too short a leadership race to allow her to mount a successful campaign and that she did not develop her French skills well enough to be a strong candidate.

"I have made the difficult decision to step back," she said. "While we have come a long way, in a short time, there is simply not enough time to mount a successful campaign and for me to effectively connect with francophone Canadians in their language. I have worked hard at improving my French but it’s not where it needs to be today."

Yesterday's revelation that that Ms Clark had actually held a Conservative Party membership card for a couple of years didn't help either.

That leaves two -- count `em, 2 -- possible candidates with any name recognition, neither of whom is fluent in la langue de Molière... ou de Chétien. The first is the lovely and talented Chrystia Freeland, the Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister until, just before Christmas, she quit before Blackie could fire her.  "These people are impossible!", she said. "I'm going home to my children!"*

The other is Mark Carney, an Oxbridge type who still carries around the silver spoon which was in his mouth at birth.

Mr Carney has been -- and "has been" is an appropriate phrase -- Governor of the Bank of Canada and Governor of the Bank of England. A wag [Dogbert? Ed.] has suggested that he probably thinks the vacant position is that of head of the Federal Reserve. Why else would he choose to announce his possible candidacy on The Daily Show?

Neither Ms Freelove nor Squire Carney have said definitely that they're ready, aye, ready to grasp the nettle that is the prime ministership of the Great No-longer-white North. So far, they're just teasing, something in which the lovely Chrystia has form. Both say they will have more to say "later".

* Note from Ed.: I didn't have time to check the date of that quote. Seems to me I read it here some time ago. But never mind. The deadline looms.

Another MUSIC VIDEO: Trudeau resigns, the Trump Effect

Only a few minutes after we posted "Bye-bye, Miss Canadian Pie", we started getting suggestions for other "Glad Trudeau Is Gone" videos. Agent 3 sent along the link to this one, by Quidan Productions, who introduce it thus: "Whether you're a political junkie, a comedy fan, or just here for the music, this satirical song is bound to entertain! It's a lighthearted roast of policies, politics, and personalities with a sprinkle of MAGA magic."

Excellent Sinatra-style music, fine animation, and nice credit to President-Elect Trump for his part in hastening the departure of Canada's. Worst. Prime Minister. Ever!

MUSIC VIDEO: Bye-bye, Miss Canadian Pie

The intended resignation of Justin "Little Potato" Trudeau as leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minister of All Canuckistan has pretty much broken the Internet, or at least the Canadian part of it. Reaction has been 99.99% positive... like this...

There has been a lot of wittier, more original stuff too. Walt particularly likes this Hoser Gang parody of Don McLean's "American Pie".

Sure and it's an early favourite for the Wally Award for Best Music Video of 2025.

Footnote: Further to our post about the Liberal ladies who want nothing more to do with Blackie McBlackface, we note today's announcement by the Honourable Steve MacKinnon, who has been in charge of the Ministry of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour (previously known as the Ministry of Labour and Seniors) [Eh??? Ed.] for less than a year, that he won't enter the race to replace Junior. He will continue in his positions -- he is also Minister for Seniors -- until the Trudeaumaniacs are booted out of office, likely this spring.

Memo from Ed. to Walt, not for publication: What have I told you about long, compound-complex sentences?! If you can't do better than the first sentence of the Footnote, I'll be forced to plug in Hal and let him/her/it deal with you!

What happened to Trudeau's female cabinet ministers?

When Canadians, in a fit of national stupidity, elected Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister in 2015, they were not unsurprised when "Junior" announced that, as a "male feminist", he would ensure that 50% of his cabinet were women... or identified as women... or something woke like that.

When Little Potato announced a few days ago that he "intends" to resign as Dear Leader of the Liberal Party, and as Prime Minister of All Canuckistan, the talking heads at the CBC and the rest of Canada's lickspittle media pronounced themselves delighted that three heavyweight femals ministeres would be strong contenders to carry on his woke crusade to destroy the Great No-longer-white North.

The three were (note tense -- explanation follows) Chrystia Freeland, Mélanie Joly, and Anita Anand. This weekend, two of them announced that they would be joining Dominic LeBlanc on the list of those who would not be contending for the poisoned chalice. The only one left is Ms Freelove, who is yet to make up her mind. Undoubtedly she is having a rethink, as well she might, when you consider what happened to all those other Karens who jumped on Trudeau's pink bandwagon.

First there was Jody Wilson-Raybould, who is not just a woman but a BIPOC. She was initially elected as a Liberal, and served as justice minister and attorney general from 2015 to 2019, then (very briefly) as veterans affairs minister and associate national defence minister. Her time at the trough ended when she resigned in response to certain ungracious and untruthful statements from Himself concerning the SNC-Lavalin bribery scandal.

Jane Philpott, a medical doctor who had been demoted from the Health portfolio to President of the Treasury Board, resigned in sympathy and was expelled from the Liberal caucus. She quit because "I have lost confidence in how the government has dealt with this matter and in how it has responded to the issues raised."

Then there was  the Honourable Catherine Mary McKenna, aka "Climate Barbie". She was the Minister of Environment and Climate Change [sic] from 2015 to 2019, but couldn't stand the heat (geddit?) and was demoted to Minister of Infrastructure and Communities from 2019 to 2021.

She has now retired from politics, but emerged from obscurity this week to explain Canadian politics to viewers of BBC News.

One of the two who has decided to throw her hat out of the window rather than into the ring is Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly. She told the meeja on Friday that she wanted to focus on the "threat posed by potential American tariffs. She then hied herself off to Washington for a jolly external affair with the Donald.

Yesterday, Transport Minister Anita Anand, another BIPOC -- another Indian, but not a Canadian one like Ms Wilson-Raybould -- announced that she too will not run in the Liberal Party's ongoing leadership contest to replace Prime Minister McBlackface. Nor will she stick around long enough to face an angry electorate when Canadians go to the polls, probably in the spring.

The amazingly versatile Ms Anand held several cabinet portfolios since she was elected in 2019. First she was Minister of Public Services and Procurement. Then she became the second woman ever to serve as Minister of National Defence. In one of her first acts in that capacity, Ms Anand transferred the investigation and prosecution of sexual misconduct cases within the Canadian Armed Forces into the civilian justice system. That's all ye know and all ye need to know.

That leaves the Liberals with only two declared leader wannabes. Both are male. One is an Indian -- turban, not feathers. The winner will be declared on the 9th of March. Walt thinks the 15th would have been the better date.

VIDEO: Canada's Liberals let non-citizens vote; here's what happend

Not many of our readers, not even the Canucks, will know about Nepean ON. It's a suburb of Ottawa, the capital of Canuckistan, a bedrooom community of minions who commute into Boredom-on-the-Rideau every day to do the will of Emperor Trudeau II.

For that reason, the riding (Americans read: electoral district) of Nepean is, for the Natural Governing (read: Liberal) Party, one of the safest seats in all Canuckistan. It was represented by a Liberal even in the dark days following the 2011 federal election, when feckless Michael "Iggy" Ignatieff led the Gliberals to their worst showing in history. They won only 34 seats, a distant third behind the Conservatives and socialist NDP, thus losing their position as Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition.

The response of the Laurentian elites was to make it easier -- much easier -- for anyone who might be persuaded to support the Liberal Party to become a member thereof. The rules were changed to allow anyone over 14 to vote in the party's nominating conventions, without regard to citizenship or lack thereof. You didn't have to be able to understand English/français. You didn't even have to pay for a party card. All you had to do was say you supported the party.

Thus it was that Liberal Associations from coast to coast to coast were flooded with new members, the majority of whom, in some cases, weren't Canadian citizens or even permanent residents. Busloads of them were bused in [what else? Ed.] to the white-minority suburbs of Toronto and Vancouver, as well as paler places like Nepean, to vote en bloc for a new and improved (read: woke) leader.

The elites said, "Let there be sunny ways!", and lo, Justin Trudeau emerged from his father's mansion to lead the faithful back to the promised land... and the pigs -- the new DEI pigs -- back to the government trough.

One of the troughers was Chandrakanth "Chandra" Arya, who rode Blackie's coat-tails into the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election. The Member of Parliament for Nepean has been sitting there ever since, warming the back benches and hoping the current Parliament will last long enough for him to collect his indexed pension.

Mr Arya's prospects dimmed noticeably with the Emperor's announcement that he might resign (WWW 7/1/25), ahead of a massive anti-Trudeau vote which could occur in the spring. For the Gliberals to survive, they need to find a new leader whom the angry voters will not revile quite so much.

Alas, there is an understandable reluctance on the part of putative candidates to throw their chapeaux into the ring. As reported here yesterday, Dominic LeBlanc, who was Walt's early line favourite to win, was smart enough to pull out before he was nominated. The only others with substantial name recognition -- Mark Carney and Chrystia Freelove -- are increasingly coy about their intentions.

So... step forward Chandra Arya, ready to save Canada (and, incidentally, the Liberals) from the fate of the American Democrats. Oh my goodness!

The mind boggles at the prospect of a "gummint" headed by Mr Chandra, but in a voting system [Is dis a system? Ed.] where poll officials are not allowed even to ask about voters' status in Canada, anything could happen.

Walt wishes Mr Chandra many good lucks, by Jove! But we will not open a new book on the Liberal leadership contest until such time as there are three credible candidates... not including him.

LeBlanc pulls hat out of the ring - all bets off

Only a day after I predicted longtime Canadian cabinet minister Dominic LeBlanc would be the last man (?) standing at the end of the Liberals' search for a new captain  of the Titanic, the troughmeister announced today that he will not -- repeat, not -- be running to replace Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface.

Mr White, as he is called in Canuckistan's other official language, announced his decision in a statement posted to social media this morning. "While I am extremely grateful for the encouragement and the expressions of support I have received from caucus colleagues and Liberals across the country," he wrote, "I have decided not to be a candidate in the Liberal Party of Canada's upcoming leadership race."

His decision came as something of a surprise to his caucus colleagues. M LeBlanc has been a true political survivor, an MP since 2000 -- nearly a quarter-century -- and contender for the Liberal leadership in 2008, before dropping out to support the charisma-challenged Michael Ignatieff.

Speaking on background, a Liberal MP told Walt's Agent 3, "Frankly, we didn't think he was smart enough to get out before the shit-hammer falls." Others, including Judy Sgro, Yasir Naqvi, Jennifer O’Connell, and Ken McDonald, expressed some disappointment at M LeBlanc’s decision not to put his name forward, with some adding they hope he'll reconsider. Their reason? See photo above.

Anyhoo... he's out and all bets are off. A new book will be opened once it is confirmed that there will be more than one entry. Readers who want their money bacl should contact Bernie at the barbershop, who will arrange for someone to drop it off.

CORRECTION: Trudeau did NOT resign

Although you couldn't see it for fog, the sun rose this morning, as usual, over Cape Spear NL, the most easterly point in the People's Republic of Canuckistan -- Justin Trudeau, prop.

Yes, Virginia, yesterday's smarmy and self-serving speech notwithstanding, Blackie McBlackface is still Prime Minister of the Great No-longer-white North. If a document -- e.g. an immigrant visa for an Islamic terrorist or a cheque to the President of Rumbabwe -- requires his signature, he'll still be there at Rideau Cottage.

"But," you may ask, "didn't Elon Musk say 'Trump won, Trudeau resigned!'?" Indeed he did, but he was only half-right.

Desperate to get rid of Little Potato, hopeful Canucks didn't listen carefully to his words of farewell. What he actually said was, "I intend to resign as party leader [and] as prime minister, after the party selects its next leader through a robust, nationwide, competitive process."

Geddit? Not "I am resigning today" but "I intend to resign...after..." Future tense throughout. The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau is still Prime Minister of All Canuckistan, and there's not a damn thing any of you frostbacks can do about it.

To ensure that corruption business will be carried on as usual until such time as he actually resigns, Junior took the precaution of asking the compliant Governor-General (whom he appointed), to prorogue (read: suspend) Parliament until March 24th, at which time a new session will begin. Until then, there will be no annoying questions asked or challenges made to the supremacy of M Trudeau, his Liberal Party, and the liberal elites who run what is left of Canada.

The Big Question to be answered is: who will replace the Greatest Narcissistic Procrastinator in Canadian history. Walt will now give you the morning line and predict the likely result of the race nobody wants to win. Early entries are:

Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada and, more recently, the Bank of England. Born with a silver sppon in his mouth, educated at private schools, member of the Toronto liberal elite. Has the backing of Big Business and (especially) the Big Banks, since he's "one of us". Like former Liberal Leader Michael "Iggy" Ignatieff, but without the charm. Vulnerable to the sasme attack ad: "He didn't come back for you!"

Chrystia Freeland, rebarbatvie former journalist whose farewell party at the Groan and Wail was held in a phone booth. Most recently Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister (an office not recognized in Canada's constitution) until she quit last year when told she was about to be demoted. Another resident of Toronto's toney Rosedale enclave. Has Ukrainian heritage but the Ukrainians never vote Liberal. Speaking style reminiscent of an Anglican missionary declaiming the Articles of Faith to a congregation of fuzzie-wuzzies. Will have the backing of the Sikh bloc as the most easily manipulable. Oh, she's a woman too, the darling of the feminists, both female and male.

Dominic LeBlanc, the latest to hold the dreaded Finance portfolio, because no-one else would take it after Ms Freeland quit. Son of a Governor-General, friend of the Trudeau family since childhood. "I've known Justin since he was a baby!" Bilingual (unlike the other two) and from New Brunswick/Nouveau Brunswick so won't upset the Québécois or the Toronto elites. Congenial (read: bibulous) and "a safe pair of hands", meaning he can be trusted to do nothing and depart gracefully following the spring election disaster.

And the winner will be... Dominic LeBlanc. Since the Gliberals face certain defeat in the election which will be called within days of the opening of the new session of Parliament, none of the other candidates will be trying too hard. They will be focusing on what happens after M LeBlanc resigns. He, however, will be happy to retire with the title of Prime Minister -- he's been everything else! -- and the pension and other perqs that go with it.

You read it here first. Walt's lifetime pct: .987.

Ding, dong, the Wicked Witch of the North is dead!

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, the over-reaching feminist who became Finance Minister of Canuckistan, resigned from her post about 24 hours ago, citing disagreements with Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface on how to respond to incoming President Donald Trump's threat of tariffs unless the Great No-longer-white North gets its act together.

In her resignation, announced by a letter to Junior published on "X", the fragrant Ms Freeland she said the two have been "at odds about the best path forward for Canada", and pointed to the "grave challenge" posed by President Trump's policy of "aggressive economic nationalism".

30 years ago, was a lowly typist [journalist, shurely! Hal] for the Toronto Groan and Wail. She is alleged to have a degree in liberal arts and knows nothing about economics and finance. She is 4'9" tall without her pointy hat, just slightly higher than M Trudeau's belt buckle.

It is not difficult then to figure out how she rose (geddit?) to the second-highest position in Canada's Liberal government, as chosen by its avowed male feminist leader. How disappointed she must have been -- spitting mad, perhaps -- when Junior informed her last week that he no longer wanted her to be his government's top economic adviser.

As Canadians (Sid and Doris Bonkers) watched a day of considerable political turmoil, the Donald Trump was also watching the Canadian edition of The Gong Show. In a Truth Social post late last night, the President said, "The Great State of Canada is stunned as the Finance Minister resigns, or was fired, from her position by Governor Justin Trudeau. Her behavior was totally toxic, and not at all conducive to making deals which are good for the very unhappy citizens of Canada."

He ended his post with, "She will not be missed!!!" And ain't that the truth he told ya!

Canada's House of Death

The world leader pictured at lower right [should be left, no? Ed.] is Blackie McBlackface, Prime Minister of Canuckistan, with the dog who doubles as his deputy and Finance Minister.

The lovely and talented dwarf [Which one is that? Ed.] will have her work cut out for her to find the $6.2 billion ($4.4 billion in real money) needed to pay for M Trudeau's latest attempt to bribe Canadians with their own money, but we'll come to that in a minute.

Her master returned to the House of Commons -- the lower house of Canada's Parliament -- on Wednesday, after a week of swanning around South America telling the Latinx not to worry about Trump, Canada will save the world.

M Trudeau found things much as he left them, except that his bloated cabine has been reduced to 37 ministers, down from 38 at the beginning of the week. For stats freaks, 37 is 24% of the 153 Liberal Members of Parliament eligible for the extra salary and perqs that go with a cabinete position. How does the US of A manage to get along with a cabinet of only 7 or 8?

Canada's misgovernment will have to get along without the services of the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, who was the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages -- the title tells you all you need to know about Canada -- until he got caught in a web of lies about his racial status.

M Boissonnault has been under the microscope for months, from the House Ethics Committee's scrutiny of his former medical supply business partner's texts and subsequent probing around "the real Randy", to "revisions" of his past claims to indigenous identity. The Notional Pest revealed this week that the honourable minister is not a First Nations (read: Indian -- feathers, not turbans) person, but only a Pretendian. His previous claim that his great-grandmother was Cree was untrue, as was his claim that he had been adopted by a Cree family. That family turned out to be Métis, and in Canada that's a hyuge difference.

M Boissonnault has also previously said that upon re-election, he cut ties with the company he co-founded -- an assertion that’s been in question since last spring -- but faced new scrutiny recently after it came to light that the company claimed to be "Indigenous-owned", thus entitled under Liberal DEI rules to preferential treatment when bidding on federal contracts.

Friday's announcement that Boissonnault had walked the plank came less than 24 hours after M McBlackface insisted that his only Alberta minister still had a place on the Liberal front benches. During Question Period, Cuckservative Leader Pierre Poilievre snarked, "Up until a minute ago, had a minister with a double identity. The prime minister knew the former minister was directing his business illegally from inside cabinet. He knew the former minister had claimed there was another Randy when there was no other Randy. He knew the former minister had falsely claimed to be Indigenous… yet he stood by him up until yesterday."

Little Potato (that's what the Chinese call him) responded by restating, "the member for Edmonton Centre has stepped down from cabinet to focus on clearing these allegations." So that's all right then.

To take Canucks' minds off this latest scandal, M Trudeau and his dog announced on Thursday a gigantic Christmas Winter Holiday gift to the shivering frostbacks, in the form of a two-month "tax holiday" from the hated GST on numerous items, such as Christmas Winter Holiday trees, to take effect on December 14th. Who buys a Christmas Winter Holiday tree in the middle of December?

But wait (the Gliberals said), there's going to more. Every Canadian who worked in 2023 but made less than C$150,000 will get a cheque for $250. How about that?! Those who were unemployed, and senior Canucks living on their pensions get squat, but that too is all right.

But there's a fly in the ointment. [Isn't there always? Ed.] To be able to cut the cheques, the Gliberals will need to get a supply (American readers, read: appropriations) bill through Parliament, which means the House of Commons since the Canadian Senate is only a rubber stamp. Unfortunately, the House has effectively shut down.

On Monday, the House will mark two months in which it hasn’t actually done anything. MPs are showing up to work, petitions are being tabled and quips and japes are being hurled across, the floor, but bills aren't getting passed, votes aren't being held and legislation isn't being debated. In other words, the MPs, although collecting their pay, aren't doing anything to earn it.

With no routine supply bills being approved, parts of the federal government could start running out of money as early as December 10th, according to the President of the Treasury Board, who last week tabled a $21.6 billion supply bill, which is simply mouldering on the order paper with everything else. Adding another $6.2 billion won't make life any easier for the Natural Governing Party.

In fact, the Trudeaunians can't do anything at all, owing to the current gridlock, which was caused by a demand by the opposition parties, for access to unredacted copies of documents, including e-mails, related to alleged [LMAO. Ed.] corruption at Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), a foundation that funds and supports "clean technoloy innovation" (read: greenscam).

The SDTC is also known as the Green Slush Fund. Back in September, the House (in which the Liberals do not have a majority) passed a motion requiring every scrap of paper related to the SDTC to be handed "forthwith" to the Mounties for "investigation". So far, most of the documents the Liberals have turned over have been severely redacted. Whole passages have been blacked out, and hundreds of pages withheld.

On September 26th, Speaker Greg Fungus told the Trudeau government that this was against the rules, and that the House of Commons was owed unredacted documents. When the Liberals continued to refuse, the Conservatives responded by seizing the wheel of the House, by tabling a motion to refer the issue to a committee, where the matter has been debated ever since.

Since the debate is on an issue of Parliamentary privilege, it takes precedence over absolutely everything else, including more than a dozen pending bills that haven't been touched in two months. The Bloc Québécois or the NDP could table a motion to end the debate, but they haven’t. Whether the proposal to declare a "tax holiday" will dynamite the log jam remains to be seen.

Canadians are itching to get rid of Chief Walking Goose, and would dearly love him to call a snap election ASAP. It seems more likely that he will hang on until the last minute, which would be 20 October 2025, according to the fixed-date provisions of the Canada Elections Act. Among the Liberal proposals languishing on the Order Paper is one which would postpone the date to 27 October 27, to avoid conflicting with Diwali. Surprised?

The one-week delay would ensure that dozens of MPs, of all parties, would "serve" (as they call it) long enough to qualify for generous pensions, even if they are defeated in the next go-round. If you're still suprised, you don't understand Trudeau's Canada. But so what. The only things that matter to Canadians are hockey and beer. Watching a game of shinny while slurping up a bucket of suds and whining about the government... that's Canada.

Canucks wait in fear for this woman to speak

From somewhere north of the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM), Poor Len Canayen reminds us that, for our beloved Montréal Canadiens, the NHL hockey season is nearing an end. Next game is tonight when the Habs visit the Devils of (ugh) New Jersey. Game time is 7:00 EDT, on RDS.

Three hours earlier, it's federal budget day in Canada. The Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Deputy to Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface, Minister of Finance and Printing More Money, and Diplomat of the Year 2018 (you could look it up), will tell the Canadian sheeple how much more they will have to pay for the socialist utopia in which they live.

No-one is looking forward to Ms Freeland's budget speech. But, Walt reminds our many Canadian readers, things could be worse.

The fragrant and lovely Ms Freeland could become prime minister, if Mr Socks decides not to risk leading his Gliberals into a fourth election, and hands her the poisoned chalice, as Lyin' Brian Mulroney did to Avril Phaedra Douglas "Kim" Campbell in 1993. It could happen! Lifetime pct .982.

Kelly McParland: The world thinks Justin Trudeau blew it

No, the National Post's Kelly McParland is not referring to the organ of George Soros or Gerald Butts. (Yes, Doonesbury fans, there really is a "Mr Butts" lurking behind the scenes in Canuckistan.) He's talking about Mr Socks' mismanagement of the "crisis" brought on by the Freedom Convoy in which 1000s of Canadian truckers and their supporters.

In his latest column, posted today, Mr McParland writes: Some of the world's most respected newspapers have denounced the prime minister's actions as a needless abuse of power. Each of them thinks Justin Trudeau blew it.

Best quote: "The belief that Liberalism is Canada and any criticism is unCanadian and unacceptable may be the defining quality of this government." Sounds kind of like the Dumbocratic Gang of Four (Brandon-Harris-Pelosi-Schumer), doesn't it?

While Walt recovers from a little visit to the OR, we invite you to read the column, which is much better than anything Walt could have written. Ed.

WTF? Liberal MP calls out "divisive" Trudeau

Cazart! Joël Lightbound, the Liberal Member of Parliament for the Québec City riding of Louis-Hébert, is headed for the high jump after telling the meeja this morning that it's time Mr Socks' government stops dividing Canadians on the issues raised by the Covid-19 pandemic.

M Lightbound is no ordinary back-bencher, but chairman of the powerful Québec caucus of the Liberal Party of Canada. If the Gliberals lose Québec, they will lose the country. So M Lightbound's refusal to toe the party line is serious!

Speaking to reporters just as a meeting of the Trudeau cabinet got under way, the dissident MP accused Blackie McBlackface of "demonizing" people who have legitimate criticisms of the way the Wuhan flu pandemic is being managed. He said the government must provide Canadians with "a clear and measurable road map" detailing when federal restrictions -- lockdowns, mandates and other authoritarian measures -- related to the pandemic will be lifted.

M Lightbound accused the Liberal government of having no desire to adapt its policies to reflect the evolving science of the pandemic. He went on to say that Canadians are "confused" to see other countries with lower vaccination rates dropping all restrictions, adding that residents are left wondering where Canada is heading.

Many fed-up Canucks are far from "confused", and will tell anyone who asks that the direction in which their country is being taken is hard left, then straight down the drain. The question now is whether M Lightbound's challenge to Emperor Trudeau II will be echoed by others within his own party, such that he will be forced to resign. `Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.

Even as M Lightbound spoke, Scott Moe, the Premier (roughly equal to a US governor) of Saskatchewan, announced that his province's vaccine passport system will end at midnight Sunday, making Saskatchewan the first province to the most restrictive public-health measure adopted to contain the kung flu.

Premier Moe said mandatory indoor masking will remain in place until the end of the month. He called on residents to “heal divisions” created over the vaccine passport system, which he said "effectively created two classes" of citizens. At his presser this morning, he said, "I knew that this policy would create deep divisions." But, he said, the benefits of the restrictions no longer outweigh the costs.

But wait, there's more! The truckers' protest has once again closed the border with the USA at Coutts AB. And a new blockade has closed the Ambassador Bridge, which connects Detroit with Windsor ON. Truckers in both places say they are in for the long haul, and will only go home when M Trudeau admits he's been wrong and orders an end to all vaccine mandates.

Yesterday, I would have said the chances of the Liberals heeding the voice of the people were slim and none. But M Lightbound's conversion must surely give hope to the millions of Canadians yearning for freedom from control of their lives by the leftist nanny state.

Anti-vax protesters force Canuck PM to flee campaign rally

Walt has received a report, confirmed by Agent 2, that the Rt. Hon. Blackie McBlackface, Prime Minister of Canuckistan, was forced by angry protesters to run away from a Liberal Party rally which was to be held yesterday afternoon in Bolton ON, a once-peaceful village northwest of Toronto.

Mr Socks is campaigning for a third term in a federal election to be held on September 20th. The sign seems to suggest that Trudeaumania v. 2.0 has run its course.
The angry crowd appeared to be anti-vaxxers for the most part, incensed about the Liberal Plan to introduce "vaccine passports" from coast to coast to coast. If this goes ahead, the sheeple of Canada will have to produce an electronic or paper "passport" -- i.e. have their papers in order! -- to be able to go to the cinema or the gym or a sporting even, or... just about anywhere. Just another rod in the fasces of state control.

Sergeant Dudley Doright, head of the security detail protecting M Trudeau, said that when they realized there were more protesters in the crowd than Liberal supporters, they reckoned that it was time for the soon-to-be-former PM to get out of Dodge, "in the interest of public safety" of course, not because he was afraid of getting roughed up.

Mr Socks and his team fled to "an undisclosed location" in nearby Brampton ON, where he held a presser in which he vowed to "meet anger with compassion." He said he recognized that the pandemic has been hard on everyone, including those who protested at his event. "We all had a difficult year. Those folks out protesting, they had a difficult year too, and I know and I hear the anger, the frustration, perhaps the fear."

The only fear visible in videos of the presser was that of His Wokeness, who appeared to be shaken (not stirred) by the sight of people who actually oppose his plan to transform the former Great White North into a "post-national state" where critical race theory is put into practice and straight white people are put in their place. (We note that the Liberal candidate whose sign appears in the photo is, to judge by his name, a Sikh.)

Sadly, the transformation of Canada into Canuckistan, begun by Trudeau I, has almost been completed by Trudeau II, who expressed his astonishment that some Canadians don't like what's happening to their country and their freedoms.

He said he has never seen this level of anger or intensity on a campaign trail, including his time as a kid when campaigning with his father. "I think this is something that Canadians, all of us, need to reflect on," he said, "because it's not who we are." Walt sez, "Oh yeah?"

Meanwhile south of the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM), the Department of Homeland Security has released a list of the top three security threats to Sleepy Joe's America.

Seems Canadians and Americans aren't so different after all!

The year ahead in Canadian politics

As I said yesterday, it looks as if the fight for the presidensity of the Excited States of America is over. In a prerecorded televised statement, President Trump said he would work towards an orderly transition to the "new administration". And it looks as if the Democrats' howls of "Off with his head...now!" are not being heard, at least not by Vice-Presidsent Pence. So all that remains now is to see what happens on Inauguration Day.

Therefore, absent some kind of divine intervention, there will be no major electoral activity in the US of A this year, and WWW will have to look to the Great No-longer-white North for entertainment of that sort. Last time we heard, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (aka Trudeau II, "Mr Socks", and "Blackie McBlackface") headed a minority Liberal government which remains in office by the grace of the slightly more leftish NDP (read: socialists).

Theoretically this situation could continue until the fall of 2023, but the betting is that the Liberals could lose a vote of confidence sometime this year. There is also speculation that Just In Himself could also walk across the the lawn between Rideau Cottage and Rideau Hall to ask Governor-General Julie Payette either to resign or (more likely) to let him resign, and call an election.

One of Walt's favourite blogs, Blazing Cat Fur, today featured this excellent meme summing up perfectly the feelings of a great many old stock Canadians.

I haven't started making the popcorn just yet, but have reminded Ed. to buy some if he can find a store that isn't locked down.

Sad footnote: Kathy Schaidle, who formerly wrote Five Feet of Fury and became one of the forces behind Blazing Cat Fur, has entered a hospice, near the end of a long battle with cancer. Please keep her in your prayers, as we do.

A fond look back at Fred C. Dobbs, scourge of the lamestream media

I'm still hot under the collar about the sorry state of the lamestream media in North America. See "Anus horribilis 2020: Noted in passing (media)", posted yesterday. The truth isn't out there. It's here, in the blogosphere.

Liberal group-think dominates the lamestream media of the Excited States of America, and Canada is just as bad -- worse, now, with the passing of Christie Blatchford and Allan Fotheringham.

And there are those who say that, even at his best, Dr Foth was not really anti-establishment, but more of a court jester poking fun at the Powers That Be, from inside the charmed circle of the liberal elite.

His jibes were indeed tepid, compared with the vitriolic savagery of my favourite Canuck political commentator, Fred C. Dobbs, the Bard of Beamsville. Ole Freddy was the alter ego of the late Michael Magee, a part-time radio and TV personality and full-time fan of the sport of kings, based in Beamsville ON. And yes, there is such a place. You can look it up.

While we were writing yesterday's piece, Ed. looked through one of Fred's two published works, The Platinum Age of B.S. (Van Nostrand Reinhold 1981) and found some comments on the Canuck controlled media which are even more to the point now than they were 40 years ago.

It's a funny thing in this country, but nobody really wants to talk, nobody wants to get out there and tear strips off the government anymore. Everybody wants to suck up...everybody's just cowed into keeping their yaps shut....

In Canada, I think if we had a Watergate situation the fix would be in with the Toronto Star, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Maclean's magazine. These is the big three media knee-jerkers in the English language in this country.

[They] would really not want the great, wonderful, golden image of the Liberal Party of Canada to be tarnished in any conceivable way. Because, after all, this image is as great, as bright and aas shiny as any kinda galaxy could ever be if it come along and upstaged the eclipse of the sun. I mean, the arrival of the Liberals for these poor bastards is like the Second Coming.

There's a climate of fear among broadcasters, there's a real fear of the CRTC [the Canadian equivalent of the FCC], that muddling, meddling government quasi-regulatory body that they see as a group of people really interfering with their right to do what it is they want to do. And it's kind of a valid argument against government interference in our lives; there's far too much of it.

This is what the Trudeau government gang really do stand for, cuz they passionately believe that unless they run, organize, regulate and produce everything that goes on, it ain't going to be up to some peculiar standards they imagine exists.

The Platinum Age of B.S. was the sequel to The Golden Age of B.S. (Gage, 1976), both long out of print. If you're a Canadian and want to see what Dr Foth called "the Natural Governing Party" get the disrespect it richly deserves, try to get your hands on Fred's books. Try your local library, but don't be surprised if they don't have them. As for his radio and TV broadcasts, those tapes have been erased, wiped clean. Wonder why....

If you're American and wonder what relevance this has to you, just reread that passage. Where Fred says "Liberals", substitute "Democrats". For Toronto Star, CBC and Maclean's magazine, substitute, New York Times/Wapo, CNN and Time magazine. They're all the same! Ask yourself, now that Dr Hunter S. Thompson and George Carlin are no longer with us, is there anyone left who's willing to stand up and say the liberal elites are full of BS?... Anyone?...

Footnote: The "Trudeau" to whom Fred refers is not Blackie McBlackface, the current Prime Minister of Canuckistan, but his father, Pierre, who began the destruction of Canada way back in 1968 and was still in power when Freddie was writing. That in itself tells you all you need to know about the Canaadian sheeple.
