"Summer of rage" = Civil War v 2.0? - NOT a new idea!
This morning's headlines...

And so it begins... No. That should be: And so it continues.
President Brandon, and all the other liberal loonies acting like this weekend's mass murder in Buffalo is something new (and obviously the fault of President Trump!) seem to have forgotten about "race riots" (as they were called in more innocent times) in:
Detroit - June 1943 - President FDR (Democrat)
Watts - August 1965 - President LBJ (Democrat), the great champion of equal rights and "freedom now"
Newark - July 1967 - President LBJ (again)
Detroit - July 1967 - aka the 12th Street Riot, aka the Detroit Rebellion - President LBJ (yet again)
I don't remember the 1943 event very well, but the Detroit Rebellion is clear in my mind. You could see the smoke from across the river in Canada, which is where sensible Americans went to wait it out. And of course there was the TV news. Images of mobs of black people (they weren't "Black", back then) in the streets, protesting discrimination and racism, demanding equality and justice...
...and maybe doing a bit of "reparations shopping". Of course it wasn't called that, in those more innocent days. It was called "looting", `cause that's what it was! Martin Luther King would be horrified, I think, to see what's being done nowadays, in his name and in the name of "justice".
"No justice, no peace!" That's what they're yelling now. In the long hot summer of 1967, it was "Burn, baby, burn!" The point of yesterday's post was to predict another long hot summer, a "summer of rage". Lifetime pct .991.
I think now that I should have added "and riots" to that phrase. But the message was clear enough for our sponsor to call to let us know that a civil war between blacks and "others" was predicted in the January 1980 "Fantasy Issue" of National Lampoon, "the Humor Magazine for Adults". Check this out!
This excellent piece of satire, written by John Hughes and superbly drawn by George Evans, could never be published today. The editors would probably report the creators to the Department of Homeland Security's new "Disinformation Governance Board", so they could be re-educated in a pleasant summer camp somewhere in Alaska.

UPDATED: Was Lincoln a white supremacist?
An assiduous reader has challenged my assertion this morning that the views of Abraham Lincoln on the question of race and the position of African-Americans in society were not that much different from those of Robert E. Lee. "Are you saying," our reader asks, "that Lincoln was a racist?" No, that wasn't what I said. I was just alluding to a half-remembered quote, which Ed. checked with Snopes. Here's what he found.
During his famous debates with Sen. Stephen Douglas, Lincoln explained to the crowd: "I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races.... I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races from living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be a position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race."
Snopes concludes that "Lincoln was no different than most white males, North and South, at the time. He was a white supremacist."
Now here's the quote from General Lee: "The negroes have neither the intelligence nor the other qualifications which are necessary to make them safe depositories of political power. They would inevitably become the victims of demagogues who...would mislead them to the serious injury of the public."
If anything, I would call General Lee's statement mild by comparison with that of President Lincoln. Snopes, being the arbiter of liberal truth, makes a half-hearted apology for Mr Lincoln. "Of course," they say, "this excerpt from one speech does not represent the totality of Lincoln's views on race and racial equality, but the remarks were far from a complete outlier, and Lincoln's views were more complex and uncomfortable than the prevalent modern impression of him as the racially-enlightened Great Emancipator." (My emphasis. Walt)
So there you have it, folks. Both Abraham Lincoln and Robert E. Lee are guilty, guilty, guilty, and every white male in America must apologize profusely (and continually), and make amends (preferably in cash) to all persons of colour for those vile racist comments.
Footnote added 13/2/20: It's not just in the Paranoid States of America that such fulsome apologies are required. The Daily Caller reports that the heretical Church of England has decided to commission an expert to prepare a report on the church's "deeply, institutionally racist" history following an official apology for its past.
The General Synod, the church's legislative body, voted on February 11th to issue an official apology for the racism that "countless black, Asian and minority ethnic people" have experienced in the past 70 years. The church is also commissioning an expert to prepare a report on the racism of the church. Walt expects the Episopalian Church -- the American version of the C of E -- to follow suit any day now. [Hasn't it done that already? Washington and Lee were both Episcopalians and slave-owners. Ed.]

Racial profiling? On Canada's Parliament Hill? Yowza!
February is Black History Month. Why they picked the shortest month of the year is beside the point. The politically correct governments of both the USA and Canada want us to celebrate whatever black history we can find -- e.g. the story of Viola Desmond, Canada's answer to Rosa Parks -- and make sure there's a lot more of it in the future. That means more events... and laws... to ensure that people of the coloured persuasion play a more prominent role in our countries' social and political life.
Up in Ottawa, the capital of the Great No-longer-white North, the ultra-PC government of Just In Trudeau decided to start the festivities off with a special "Black Voices on the Hill Day", the "hill" in question being Parliament Hill, the Canuck version of Capitol Hill [not exactly as shown. Ed.] 150 members of the alleged "black community" were invited to Ottawa for a series of meetings with eight federal cabinet ministers, to discuss great progressive ideas like affirmative action and building more basketball courts to put a stop to yoof crime.
Of course they couldn't all meet with the ministers at once. Some of them had to wait outside the committee room where the meetings were being held. The sight of large numbers of black people loitering in the corridors of power disturbed the Parliamentary Protective Service -- the rent-a-cops responsible for security on Parliament Hill -- who responded by asking the visitors to wait in the Parliamentary Cafeteria, so that's where they went.
Some racist -- not a Member of Parliament, surely -- who dropped by the caf for a coffee noticed the large number of people of a type not normally seen in that precinct, and took a couple of pix with his cellphone, which he then passed along to security. A PPS guard went to have a word with the visitors. According to a spokesthingy for the Federation of Black Canadians, the guard "responded by labelling the delegates 'dark-skinned' and telling them to leave, even though established regulations allow civilians with the appropriate pass to be in that space."
In the US of A, the request to leave would probably have been countered with a sit-in, but the sheep-like Canucks [black sheep? Ed.] left quietly, but did complain to one of their own, an African-Canadian [sic] senator from Nova Scotia -- a Trudeau appointee qualified not just by her colour but also her gender -- who went public with the story, demanding a meeting with Mr Socks and the customary apologies all round.
The Parliamentary Protective Service was quick to oblige. A spokesthingy said the force [sic] is investigating the incident, and the PPS director's chief of staff [sic] issued a statement saying that "Our security personnel must always conduct themselves with professionalism and respect towards parliamentarians, employees and visitors. We need to do a better job in ensuring that this standard is maintained across our workforce. The Parliamentary Protective Service has zero tolerance for any type of discrimination."
So that's all right, then, even though no-one's head has actually been seen rolling down Parliament Hill. A further apology from the Prime Minister is expected momentarily, to be followed by a six- or seven-figure cheque to salve the hurt feelings and make the black voices understand that they have indeed been heard.

VIDEO: Every skinny white airline passenger's nightmare
This is a coincidental follow-up to "Why Walt doesn't fly any more - 'Allahu akbar!' in the air", WWW 25/1/19. I must admit that, no matter how useless you think the TSA is, you don't find yourself on the plane with a fanatical Muslim all that often, at least not in North America. But the scene in today's video is all too real, and happens all that often because of the fattitude of average Americans -- the kind you see on Judge Judy. Check this out.
On January 2nd, the unidentified white woman seen in the video booted off a United Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Newark for having the audacity to complain -- not to the airline but to a friend on the phone -- about being seated between two very large black people, who she said were "squishing" her. The video was shot by the BBW on the woman's left, a nurse named Norma Rodgers, who subsequently posted it to FB to proclaim the couple's victory over fat-shaming and "negativity".
The lamestream media reports say it was Ms Rodgers who was subjected to verbal abuse, which is what she claims in her complaint to the flight attendant. What I heard the white lady say was "Oh my goodness! I don't know how I'm going to do this for the next four hours. This is just impossible cause they're squishing me. Like, friggin' just unbelievable. At least they’ll keep me warm. I can't sit here because they're both so big on left and right. I can't even sit here."
Sounds to me more like a statement of fact, rather than abuse, and please note the white lady's saying it not to Ms Rodgers but to whoever's on the other end of her cellphone conversation. It's the BBW who stops chewing on her cud to say, "Bitch, please. OK?!" Who's aboozin' whom? And Ms Rodgers is the one who says to the FA, "I will not be verbally abused by anybody. I'm not tolerating it!"
The flight attendant asks the woman if she would like to wait in the rear while they see if there is a free seat, and the offer is accepted "Thank goodness." That's when other passengers decide to confront the lady because, obviously, she's white and she doesn't want to sit with the black folkses.
One gentleman, who appears to be of the coloured persuasion, shouts that the woman's complaint is really all about MAGA. The woman tells replies that she's "not politically correct" and adds, "Why don't you try and sit between those two big pigs?" Notice that she didn't say "black" or any other race-related word. Nor did she say "fat". It's the BBW who shouts "Bitch, kiss my fat ass!" as the white lady is led away.
Such is the state of interpersonal relations in the "post-racial America" which was ushered in by the (first) election of the Prez. How wonderful to be alive in America now. Just don't count on the "friendly skies" being as friendly as they once were.

Wikileaks reveals what Hellery REALLY thinks of blacks and Muslims
Just in time for tonight's debate, here it is... the one we've been waiting for. Back in the summer, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has said that more of Mrs Bill Clinton's e-mails -- the ones she didn't erase -- would be released in the weeks leading up to the November 8th election for POTUS.
Walt has been waiting with bated breath for the "October surprise", and this e-mail from Shrillery to her campaign chairman, John Podesta, could be the game-changer. (Mr Podesta, by the way, once served as Chief of Staff to former President and First Gentleman wannabe Bill Clinton.) See for yourself what Mrs Clinton really thinks about blacks, Muslims and "Roma" (the PC term for gypsies).
In case you had trouble reading the message from this screen shot, it says, "The main reason behind successful immigration should be painfully obvious to even the most dimwitted of observers: Some groups of people are almost always highly successful given only half a chance (Jews*, Hindus/Sikhs and Chinese people, for example), while others (Muslims, blacks** and Roma***, for instance) fare badly almost irrespective of circumstances."
Hellery goes on to label blacks and Muslims "professional never-do-wells". Now, you may agree with that characterization, but that doesn't mean that you should stampede to the polls and vote for Mrs Clinton. What she says to Mr Podesta is completely at odds with what she says from the public platform as she sucks up to every minority in sight. La Clinton is not just a consummate liar, but an out-and-out hypocrite. Oh... guess that's not really the October surprise after all.

Why in hell wouldn't blacks vote for Trump?!
Before I begin, let me express a fervent wish that dark(ish)-complected people would decide once and for all what they want us palefaces to call them. Some of them call each other "nigger", but we can't say that. "Negro" is long gone from our vocabulary. "Darkie" is verboten, as the makers of the eponymous toothpaste discovered years ago.
"African-American" is ridiculous, IMHO. If your ancestors came here two centuries ago, whether you're in the hold of a slave ship or above decks, and you're the sixth generation to be born on this side of the Atlantic, any ties with the Old World have long since been cut. During my time in southern Africa, I've heard visiting "African-Americans" say of the natives, "Man, these dudes ain't nuthin' like us!"
So "blacks" it is, then. OK? That's the term preferred by the late, great Civil War historian Shelby Foote. Not long before his death, Mr Foote was interviewed by Tony Horwitz, for his admirable book Confederates in the Attic. Here's what he had to say about the black underclass.
"Slavery was the first great sin of this nation. The second great sin was emancipation, or rather the way it was done. The government told four million people, 'You are free. Hit the road.' Three-quarters of them couldn't read or write, The iniest fractino of them had any profession that they could enter.
"What has dismayed me so much is the behavior of blacks. They are fulfilling every dire prophecy the Ku Klux Klan made. It's no longer safe to be on the streets in black neighborhoods. They are acting as if the utter lie about blacks being somewhere between ape and man were true."
I have emphasized Mr Foote's assertion that it's no longer safe to be on the streets in black neighborhoods because, twenty years after he said that, we had fresh proof on Friday when Nykea Aldridge, a 32-year-old mother of four, was shot dead while pushing her baby in a stroller near a school in Chicago's South Side.
In broad daylight, two men walked up and fired shots at a third man, hitting Ms Aldridge (the cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade) in the head and arm. Chicago police say she wasn't the intended target. She was just "collateral damage" in the random gun violence which afflicts American inner cities.
Two brothers Darwin Sorrells Jr., 26, and Derren Sorrells, 22, were charged with the murder of Ms Aldridge and attempted murder of the gang-banger who was the actual target.
Darwin and Derren seem to me poster boys for Donald Trump's appeal to "people of colour" [Ed., is that term OK] to vote for him because... wait for it... people of any colour should be able to walk along the streets without fear of being shot!
The US of A has endured eight years of the progressive, politically correct policies of the only President who can legitimately call himself "African-American". Are American blacks better off today than they were 22 years ago, when Shelby Foote made those remarks? As The Donald said, if you're black and you live in some blighted project in Chicago (or Newark or Philthydelphia or wherever), why in hell wouldn't you vote for him?

"We are not as divided as we seem." Right??!!??
Do you believe that? Does anyone believe that? Does even the Prez believe that? Before we all get in a circle and start singing "Kumbaya", let us consider...
The Democrats are divided. Will the Sanderistas really hold their noses and vote for Hellery?
The Republicans are divided. Can Trump find any credible, moderate conservative to be his V-P nominee?
The Catholics are divided. Modernists vs fundamentalists. (Let us pray for those who hold to the Faith of our fathers.)
The Muslims are divided. Or so they claim. "Moderate Muslims" vs Islamic jihadists.
The British are divided. Europhiles vs Eurosceptics (= Brexiteers).
The Europeans are divided. Refugees, asylum-seekers and other immigrants vs white, Christian, native-born.
Everybody 's divided! The LGBTQ2SIetc "community" vs normal (male and female) people. Which toilet should I use??

LGBT... what next?
For half a century we've wrestled with what to call people who are, errr, non-white. That adjective encompasses a range of hues, from "tanned" through yellow and red to brown and finally black. So we called black folks "black", and that was a problem because of "shadeism" which placed octaroons above quadroons above mulattos and so on. (In fact you don't hear any of those words any more.)
Besides, there was something pejorative about "black", or "dark-complected", not to mention "darkie" (as in toothpaste) or the N-word. So some genius came up with "African-American", which for most black Americans was as ridiculous as calling us white folks "European-Americans". And so we went back to "persons of colour", which sounds a lot like "coloured" to me. I don't know which term is politically correct now, and I don't care.
The same nomenclatural problem exists with people we used to call "queers". Not so long ago, that was pejorative term, right up there with "fairies", "faggots" and other quaint expressions we used -- yes, I admit it -- to describe homosexuals. But then the homos embraced the Q-word, as in "We're here! We're queer! Get used to it!" And so Q was added to LGBT, as in "the LGBTQ community", referring to the alleged 10% of us who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, and/or otherwise queer.
But apparently five terms isn't enough for the proponents of aggressive gender ideology. The concept of "gender fluidity" -- today I'm a guy but tomorrow I might feel like a girl, or vice versa -- led to the addition of "2S", which stands for "two-spirited". It's not your physical gender, you see, but how you feel about it! Don't be surprised if Barack Hussein Obama stretches his pro-LGBT bathroom laws to include those who feel like "the other sex"... at the moment.
Would LGBTQ2S be the end of it? As recently as this January, I thought so, but I was wrong. (Lifetime pct .984.) Now the PC police have told us we can drop the "Q2S" -- perhaps because "queer" is still a loaded word and "2S" is just stupid -- but add an "I", which stands for "intersex". Seriously...
"Intersex" is how the Australian Department of Health refers to people whose sexual characteristics don't fit neatly into the "male" or "female" categories. Wikipedia tells us such people "do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies. Such variations may involve genital ambiguity, and combinations of chromosomal genotype and sexual phenotype other than XY-male and XX-female. Intersex people were previously referred to as hermaphrodites, but the term has fallen out of favor as it is considered to be misleading and stigmatizing. Since 2006, intersex traits have controversially [sic] been described by medicine as disorders of sex development."
So there you have it, folks. "LGBTI" is the latest politically correct term for people we used to call "queers". Remember that as your city/state/province/country/whatever celebrates Gay Pride Day/Week/Month/Year/Whatever.

Apartheid comes to USA: UConn opens segregated dorm
We begin a new month with a story which has to be true, because you couldn't make up something this ironic. Half a century after LBJ's great "civil rights", designed to end once and for all discrimination against anyone on he basis of race and ensure equality for all -- especially as regard accommodation in housing -- a blacks-only dormitory is being built at the University of Connecticut, with the official endorsement of that school's "progressive" authorities.
The segregated accommodation -- separate but equal, you understand -- will be called "SCHOLA2RS House". "SCHOLA2RS" stands for the "Scholistic [sic] House Of Leaders who are African Amercian [sic] Researchers and Scholars". Of course these "schola2rs" have a website. Here's a screen grab.
You may think that a couple of them don't look, errr, African-American, but you don't have to be black to get into the dorm. You only have to "identify as African American/Black". You know, like Rachel Dolezal, the former head of the NAACP in Spokane WA, a white girl who somehow felt black.
You might wonder why, in an America where (according to the Prez) great strides have been made in overcoming racism, a "black living space" would be not just tolerated but deemed a necessity. Dr. Erik M. Hines, Faculty Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at UConn, has the answer. The good doctor says it's because blacks do so poorly at academics that he believes they will do better "in an African-American environment."
Walt kids you not. He really said that, and somehow managed to escape being hauled in front of a "human rights" commission. What would have happened if Mark Steyn had said it? But Dr. Hines is no Mark Steyn! Dr. Hines is a certified (or certifiable) progressive. He explained that "African-American males graduate at a lower rate than their peers."
He went on to say that SCHOLA2RS House is "a space for African-American men to one, come together and validate their experiences that they may have on campus. [sic] umber two, it’s also a space where they can have conversation and also talk with individuals who come from the same background who share the same experience."
Translated into plain English, Dr. Hines is actually sayings that just being in the presence of whites somehow makes blacks do poorly at school, and that the only way this can be remedied is for blacks to have their own dorm. Need we add that all the UConn students and academics who turned out late last year to protest what they called "white racism" have remained completely silent on this project, which reeks of black racism.

America on wrong track: Heritage Foundation survey
A new study by the Heritage Foundation finds hopeful trends in some American cultural indicators, but discouraging news on other fronts.
The 2014 Index of Culture and Opportunity, released yesterday by the Washington-based think-tank, points to favourable trends in the US abortion rate, divorce rate, charter-school availability, and job openings. However the analysts also see bad news in the rates of marriage and fertility, the rise in the number of single-parent households, dips in volunteerism and religious attendance, declining reading levels, and increases in student-loan debt, unemployment, taxation, and government regulation.

Fine crop of welfare babies again this year
Back in May, Walt told you about Desmond "Daddy" Hatchett, America's most famous deadbeat dad. The prolific Tennessean fathered more than 20 children with 11 women, and was ordered to stop screwing around (so to speak) because he couldn't keep up his... wait for it... support payments.
To the relief of taxpayers who must pay the baby mamas to look after Hatchett's bastards, procreation rate has slowed significantly in recent months, however, over the past 40 months due to the convicted felon's being in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction.
Filling the breach, so to speak, is Corey Curtis, pictured. It's not the taxpayers of Tennessee, but those of Wisconsin, who are paying for the cash crop that Mr. Curtis sowed -- nine children with six women.
Circuit Court Judge Tim Boyle, while sentencing Curtis for jumping bail and (surprise, surprise) failure to pay child support, told the 44-year-old Racine man that his frequent breeding was to be curbed as a condition of his three-year probation term.
Curtis owes about $90,000 total in back child support and interest to the mothers of his children. The judge said he'd have to pay off that debt before he can add heir number ten.
Should Curtis breach the court's order, he will have his johnson cut off. [Really? I didn't think the state had the power to do that! Ed.] Mind you, that wouldn't necessarily be the final solution, as there's always artificial insemination! [That's enough. This is getting silly. Ed.] Hmp! Silly, is it?! Taxpayers don't think so!

TX talk show host calls out the NAACP
Thanks to Agent 6 for passing along thia audio file of someone who's not afraid to get up on his hind feet and call a spade a spade. Michael Berry is the host of a daily radio talk show in Houston. He is an attorney and former member of the Houston City Council. He is not normally a ranter, but something about July's NAACP meeting in Houston set him in the off. Here he says, on the air, what a lot of people would like to say, if they weren't so afraid of the PC police. It takes just over nine minutes but is well worth listening to.

Hatchett man axes for a break on child support
The winner of the Knox County (TN) Stork Derby for the first decade (or so) of the 21st century is... drum roll... envelope please... Desmond Hatchett, age 33, of Knoxville. Since 1997 Dirty Des has fathered no fewer than 30 pickaninnies with 11 different baby mamas! What a feat! [It ain't his feat wut done it! Ed.]
How, you may ask, was Mr. Hatchett able to set what Melissa Gibson, an assistant supervisor with the Knox County child support clerk's office, thinks is the county record for most children. It's quite amazing, especially considering that he'd managed to beget only 21 sprogs up until 2009, when he told WREG-TV in Memphis he was done procreatin'.
Walt will do the math for you. Yes, Des has become a father nine times in the past three years! In a subsequent interview, Hatchett explained, "I had four kids in the same year. Twice."
So who's paying to look after all these kids? Walt knows what you're thinking, but Ms Gibson couldn't or wouldn't say whether their mothers are receiving "social assistance". (That's what we call "welfare" nowadays.) Anyway, it sure isn't Hatchett, because state law requires that no more than 50% of his wages can be withheld for support payments. And that's when he's working, which is, errr, not all the time. That's why he was in court last week, asking for a break on those payments.
Again, Walt will do the math for you. The minimum wage in TN is $7.25 per hour, which would come to... errr... $290 per week. OK, let's say $1250 per month, of which 50% would be $625, divided by 30 comes to just under $21 per little bastard per month. Not really enough, is it.
Is there a lesson in all this? If so, it would seem Des and 11 different women have yet to learn it. As a traditional Catholic, Walt can hardly advocate forced sterilization, but -- leaving religious principles aside -- there are times when something like China's One Child Policy makes a good deal of common sense. No kidding!

Mom-to-be gets stomped in the multicult capital
Everyone knows that Philadelphia is no longer the City of Brotherly Love. No, that title [perhaps updated to "The City of Sibling Love"? Ed.] now belongs to Toronto, the font of political correctness and the exemplar of multiracial peace and harmony.
Well, not always...
Today's Toronto Star features a story headed "Police investigate video of young pregnant woman being beaten". The headline in a less lamestream medium reads
Preggo Dope Fiend Gets Jumped By Hood Chicks In Toronto For Talkin Mess!
What that means, in plain English, is that a pissing contest [Don't be so literal! He means a slanging match! Ed.] broke out between a young and obviously pregnant woman and some other females on a darkened stretch of Yonge Street, the Little Apple's main drag.
The video -- labelled "Warning: Graphic Content" -- shows pedestrians walking past the group as the shouting increases. Although it looks as if the pregnant woman could have escaped, she doesn't do so. She starts to walk away, but comes back for more.
After a few more choice words are exchanged, a male voice yells "Hit her!" At this point, the pregnant woman lashes out at another female with her jacket and knocks a bottle to the ground, where it shatters.
The other females then strike back, hitting the pregnant woman about the face and knocking her to the ground. While lying helpless on the sidewalk, she is kicked around the head and in the stomach and back for about 30 seconds, during which she covers her head with her hands and wails with pain.
While she is being beaten, the person holding the camera does not try to intervene to stop the beating. In fact, the person moves in to record the action from close range. At the end of the beating, a young woman spits on the victim.

Before you watch, how about a little self-criticism. Will all those who think the actors in this little piece are, errr, persons of colour, please raise your hands. Hmm. Just as I thought. Well, have a look.

The video -- labelled "Warning: Graphic Content" -- shows pedestrians walking past the group as the shouting increases. Although it looks as if the pregnant woman could have escaped, she doesn't do so. She starts to walk away, but comes back for more.
After a few more choice words are exchanged, a male voice yells "Hit her!" At this point, the pregnant woman lashes out at another female with her jacket and knocks a bottle to the ground, where it shatters.
The other females then strike back, hitting the pregnant woman about the face and knocking her to the ground. While lying helpless on the sidewalk, she is kicked around the head and in the stomach and back for about 30 seconds, during which she covers her head with her hands and wails with pain.
While she is being beaten, the person holding the camera does not try to intervene to stop the beating. In fact, the person moves in to record the action from close range. At the end of the beating, a young woman spits on the victim.

Before you watch, how about a little self-criticism. Will all those who think the actors in this little piece are, errr, persons of colour, please raise your hands. Hmm. Just as I thought. Well, have a look.
Fooled ya, eh! You see? It's not just members of the black underclass who carry on like dat! Trash comes in every colour -- black, white and striped.

Who were Amos 'n' Andy?
Amos 'n' Andy was one of the first radio comedy series, written and voiced by Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, two whities who had ebonics down pat! The show ran as a nightly radio serial from 1928 until 1943, as a weekly situation comedy from 1943 until 1955, and as a nightly disc-jockey program from 1954 until 1960.
A television adaptation ran on CBS-TV from 1951 until 1953, and continued in syndicated reruns from 1954 until 1966. Ed. has found a clip from the TV version.

The show was a victim of the "civil rights" movement of the 60s, but radio and TV episodes are still floating around. Since the demise of Amos 'n' Andy, African-Americans have, of course, been portrayed on TV with sensitivity and extreme political correctness, as in such shows as The Jeffersons and Good Times.

What to do with the dregs? Another opinion
I've been more than a little preoccupied with the riots in the UK. [Do you think readers have noticed? Ed.] That's my excuse for having failed to say anything until today about similar riots closer to home, viz. Philadelphia USA. In the City of Brotherly Love, roving gangs of black teenagers have taken to beating up ordinary citizens on the streets. To stem the wave of terror, the mayor has imposed curfews and authorized harsher police measures.
Mayor Michael Nutter -- yes, that's his real name -- blames the mayhem on moral collapse. When he speaks of family breakdown and failed communities, Hizzoner runs no risk of being called a racist, for he is black himself, unlike Daniel Moynihan, author of The Negro Family: The Case For National Action, better known as The Moynihan Report.
The sociologist who later became a US senator asserted that the structure of family life in the black community constituted a "tangle of pathology...capable of perpetuating itself without assistance from the white world," and that "at the heart of the deterioration of the fabric of Negro society is the deterioration of the Negro family. It is the fundamental source of the weakness of the Negro community at the present time."
Moynihan adds: "The steady expansion of welfare programs can be taken as a measure of the steady disintegration of the Negro family structure over the past generation in the United States".
That was in 1965, before some of the worst US race riots of the 20th century. In the nearly half-century since, things have actually gotten worse. Now we have -- in American as well as British cities -- packs of aimless, unschooled, almost feral youths, who loot, riot, rob, and beat people up just for fun.
Fact is, the problems of Britain’s inner cities are virtually the same as the problems of America’s inner cities. In both places, the disintegration of the family is intimately linked with social and moral decay. In the US, two-thirds of black kids are born to single mothers and unmarried couples. In parts of Britain the rate is already that high. Nationally 46 per cent of children are born to unmarried mothers, according to Britain’s Centre for Social Justice.
The Globe and Mail's Margaret Wente -- one of Walt's favourite columnists -- cites those statistics in "Unskilled, unmarried, unwanted..." Ms Wente goes on to say, "Both Britain and America have developed a large, permanent underclass whose numbers are growing. Rootless, unmoored young men with no stake in society are a major threat to social order." [My emphasis. Walt.]
Sadly, but understandably, Ms Wente offers no solution. "The fix," she says, "isn’t nearly as obvious as the problem. It will require much more than insisting that parents set clearer boundaries for their children. More social programs aren’t the answer either. We’ve been there, done that, for the past four decades of the welfare state. If there’s one thing we should have learned, it’s that the state is totally unable to compensate for broken families."
Indeed. So what's left? As I argued in my previous post, if the carrot doesn't work, perhaps it's time to try the stick -- and a good stout one too. Ms Wente says that 19th-century society had different ways of dealing with the problem. "Many of these [miscreants] would go to war as cannon fodder. Some would go to sea, or be transported to Australia. The more ambitious ones would strike out for the new world.
"Today we need another way," she concludes, "But no one has a clue what it might be." Not so. Walt knows. See "Three sentences the rioters will understand". My ideas are old, but worth trying again. If anyone has better suggestions, let's hear them!

The Caribbean black underclass in Britain
What follows was not written by a member of the British National Party or other "white supremacist" group. The author is Terry Tan, a Singaporean Chinese who has lived and worked in Britain for many years. In 1992 he wrote Culture Shock: Britain, part of the Culture Shock series.
Mr. Tan's book takes a fair, balanced and usually accurate look at life in contemporary Britain. He presents a thoughtful consideration of the racial conflicts found in Britain then, which are still evident now. Included is an assessment of the problems of the black community, which comprises, for the most part, people of Caribbean origin. The comments would apply equally to the black Caribbean ghettos of Toronto and New York. Parenthetical additions are mine.
One in three Caribbean families in Britain has a single parent. As incomplete nuclear families, misdemeanours occur frequently among the restless young who have little parental guidance. At a gathering of hundreds of thousands [e.g. London's Notting Hill Carnival or Toronto's Caribana] where beer flows and the spirit is high, restless youth can boil over easily.
When the family breaks down, troubles snowball and drugs take vicious hold of many black communities. Council [public or social] housing estates with a preponderance of single [i.e. single parent] families are particularly susceptible.
Most addicts are young, black and are not particular who they steal from and mug. The daily "fix" is their raison d'être and no one is spared. Family, friends, neighbours, white or black.
Black community leaders remain tight-lipped about the problem and any drug raids are seen as harassment by white policement....
Unfortunately, unlike in the Caribbean where extended families embrace single parents without reprobation, it is not the same case in Britain. A youngster growing up in a disruptive environment is likely to view society with scepticism and some anger.
In his book Behind the Front Lines -- Journey into Afro Britain, Ferdinand Dennis...concluded one thing. Black leaders must demand that their communities take greater responsibility for their own development. Only then will the crisis of all black famililes in Britain be recognized. Only then will cries of white harassment and other imagined putdowns be seen in their true light of racism-fanning.
Senator Daniel Moynihan said something similar about the Afro-American family way back in 1965. Almost half a century has passed, and the situation of blacks in the USA, Britain and Canada remains largely unchanged.

Too stupid to be a cop? Move to Dayton!
Walt has always thought that "police intelligence" is the ultimate oxymoron. How smart do you have to be to eat donuts and occasionally taser an innocent civilian just for the hell of it?
But in Dayton OH, already low standards for admission to the local constabulary are being dumbed down still further, by order of the US Department of Justice. Why? Because the feds reckon not enough African-Americans were getting through the exam. No surprises there.
ABC's Dayton TV outlet reports that the Dayton P.D. is in desperate need of officers to replace dozens of retirees. However, the hiring process was postponed for months because the Deptartment of Justice rejected the original test scores provided by the Dayton Civil Service Board.
Under the previous requirements, candidates had to get a 66% on part one of the exam and a 72% on part two. The new politically correct scoring policy only requires potential thugs [police officers, surely! Ed.] to get a 58% and a 63%. That's the equivalent of an ‘F’ and a ‘D’.
