VIDEO: Drunk driver plays diversity, victim cards, gets arrested anyway

Bodycam footage seen recently on X illustrates the social justice/police brutality/yada yada bullshit that cops (especially white male cops) have to put up with in Woke America.

If you didn't catch all of it, here's a list of excuses this... errr... lady?... Karen?... libtard?... wokester came up with in just three minutes.

* I have bad social anxiety
* I don't wanna step out of the car because there's a lot of stuff going around
* I'm an indigenous person
* I'm non-binary
* Don't call me "ma'am"
* I have mental health problems [I believe that one. Ed.]
* You're trying to intimidate me
* I have PTSD
* This is triggering
* I have generational trauma
* I don't like being around white people and cops
* You're scaring me
* You're hurting me!!!

To think that in Biden's woke America, people like this are allowed to not only drive cars (even when drunk), but to vote!

Freedom Convoy: Will Trudeau be held to account?

You remember, eh, the Freedom Convoy, the peaceful -- not mostly peaceful, but totally peaceful, except for the actions of Trudeau's storm troopers -- protest which tied up Canuckistan's capital city in February, giving Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface what he thought was a good excuse to invoke the never-before-used Emergencies Act to crack down on Canadians' civil liberties.

If you've forgotten, or just weren't paying much attention at the time, check out these WWW reports. "True Facts about Canada's Freedom Convoy" (includes video with John-Henry Westen), 9/2/22

The Emergencies Act includes a provision that requires a public inquiry, after the Act is used, to determine whether its use was justified. Sort of like: verdict first, trial later. Anyhoo, the inquiry finally got underway in Ennui-on-the-Rideau this week. It is to be known as the "Rouleau Commission" because the presiding judge, appointed by Mr Sock, is Paul Rouleau, a justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Mr Justice Rouleau is a graduate of University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, and has previously served on the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Supreme Court of Yukon, the Nunavut Court of Justice, and the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories in 2017.

Before getting these nice jobs, Mr Rouleau worked for the Liberal Party of Canada. In 1983, he was part of John Turner's campaign to take over the Liberal leadership (and thus become prime minister) when Emperor Trudeau I announced his retirement. Later, he had a hand in helping pick Mr Turner's cabinet, and is described as either his executive assistant or appointments secretary in various media reports from that era. Can you say "whitewash", boys and girls? I knew you could.

Now that he's a judge, Mr Rouleau is supposed to be apolitical, non-partisan, and open-minded. He accepted without hesitation the terms of reference for the mission: not merely to look into the government's actions and whether they were justified, but to investigate the behaviour and financing of the protesters. (Junior claimed that they were directed and financed by foreign extremists.) In his opening statement, Mr Justice Rouleau said, "Uncovering the truth is an important goal."

What is the truth? Depends on whether you're on the side of the self-righteous, liberal police state... or of freedom. The Freedom Convoy was appropriately named, standing up for freedom from oppression by the nanny state. The invocation of the Emergencies Act severely restricted the rights to freedom of expression, assembly and association.

In opening statements on Thursday, civil liberties groups, including the Canadian Constitution Foundation and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, noted the sweeping rights implications of the act.  The Emergency Economic Measures Order, made in pursuance of the act, chilled freedom of expression, by mandating banks to freeze bank accounts of those connected to the protests, without any warrant or notice to the account-holders.

Counsel for the Liberal government argued its view that Canada faced an "unprecedented and critical" situation in the face of ongoing protests and blockades, including threats of "ideologically motivated violence" and impact on Canada’s trade, international relationships, and reputation. Even as opening statements were being read, the Emperor [Prime Minister, shurely! Ed.], rather than saying that since the matter was before the court, or that he would be testifying later, was making his argument publicly in every "media availability".

"We knew from the very beginning," he told the CBC and the rest of the lickspittle media, "that invoking the Emergencies Act is a big step that had never been done before. But given these unprecedented illegal protests, we needed to take action. We took it in a way that was measured, that was responsible that was time limited."

Lawyers for the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, begged to differ, expressing disapproval of the federal government's failure to consult them before invoking the act. Yes, they were called, according to counsel for Saskatchewan, but "the call was not so much about consulting as it was about telling." Saskatchewan also opposed the financial measures, which required banks and other institutions to take significant steps with little guidance from the government.

Several provinces requested that the act's application be geographically limited, which it was not. Counsel for Alberta noted that the province was able to deal with the Coutts AB border blockades under existing laws, and that none of the powers under the Emergencies Act were necessary, or indeed invoked, in that province.

Counsel for the various police forces involved, and residents of Ottawa who say they were affected by the protest, backed up Mr Socks. The residents' lawyer called the protests "highly disruptive, even traumatizing", what with continual honk-honking throughout the night, loose jerry cans lying the streets, and "general disorder."

On Friday, the commission began hearing evidence from witnesses, starting with the Parade of the Snowflakes -- Ottawa residents whining about the supposed disruption of their lives. At the head of tyhe parade was a "legally blind" lady who entered the hall wearing sunglasses (and a mask, of course) and tapping her white cane. She said her condition had been worsened by the protest because she was afraid to go out, even to shop, for fear of being lost in the crowd.

A Chinese-Canadian lady said the noise of the air- and truck horns was so loud that she and her husband had to sleep in their car, in the basement of their condo. Even worse, she says she was bullied when she went into the street, and was told that she wasn't smiling under her mask!

Another Karen, a well-fed businesswoman, said she was afraid... very afraid. Why? "Because when I heard that the Ottawa police chief [Peter "Moves" Sloly] said he was afraid, I felt I should be afraid too." Seriously.

Mr Sloly, a diversity hire, was a "victim" of the protest, losing his job a couple of weeks in, for failing to get tough with the freedom fighters. [Your bias is showing. Ed.] The new acting chief called in the Toronto Police "Service" mounted unit, who got the job done without trampling on more than one little old lady.

The Rouleau Commission is expected to hear fro as many of 65 potential witnesses, including Prime Minister McBlackface, as time will allow. Given that 20 different organizations have standing and will be allowed to cross-examine witnesses, the hearings could take more than a little while.

However, the Commission's final report must, by law, be laid before Parliament by 20 February 2023. That wouldn't be a problem, though, for Mr Justice Rouleau if, as Walt suspects, his exoneration of Chief Walking Goose (Mr Trudeau's honorary Indian name) and all his minions has already been written by... ohhh... let's say Gerald Butts.

Fancy that! Minneapolis ordered to hire more cops

Ready for an I-told-ya-so story? In the wake of the death of Saint George Floyd (convicted felon and druggie) and the ensuing conviction of Derek Chavin and three other Minneapolis police officers, more than 200 other cops quit, retired, or took extended leave from the Minneapolis police department.

That wasn't enough for the BLM and SJWs, who demanded that the city cut – and even completely dismantle – its police department. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (Democrat) refused to cancel the copos entirely, but did OK a shift of about $8 million in funding to "violence prevention and mental health crisis response teams." He also proposed a further budget cut of $17 million for 2021.

Well, guess what? As of this past May, homicides in Minneapolis had doubled over the same time frame in 2020. Gun thefts from vehicles had risen by more than 100%, while illegal gun seizures had dropped. Surprise, surprise!  Residents from some minority communities [Hey, don't be afraid to call a spade a spade! Ed.] even began showing up at city council meetings demanding to know why police officers weren't responding to calls and helping stop the violent criminals rampaging through their neighbourhoods.

All this was too much for eight denizens of the City of Lakes, who sued the city for not retaining enough officers on their payroll to meet local requirements. (According to a local ordinance, the city must employ at least 0.0017 sworn officers for every 1000 city residents.)

Hennepin County District Judge Jamie L. Anderson agreed, and ordered the city to employ at least 730 police officers by the end of next June. That number could be increased further, if the results of the 2020 census show an increase in the population of the metropolitan area.

Does anyone not see the irony in this? Newton's Third Law applies to more than physics! Told ya so!

Walt's easy-peasy solution to "white police killing of POC"

Random (sorta) thoughts on yesterday's verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the evil racist ex-cop who (the jury found) killed Saint George Floyd, a paragon of his community whose "tragic loss" diminishes all of us... present company excepted. [I hope so. Ed.]

First of all, I don't know how the jury could have found other than it did, given the intense pressure from the lickspittle media and all correct-thinking Americans, up to and including Sleepy Joe hisself. A prudent president might have said "Let the courts do their work." The incumbent said "I hope we get the right verdict, and I'll be calling Mr Floyd's family as soon as Chauvin is found guilty."

And don't tell me the jury was unaware of the demands being made on them by all and sundry, including the likes of Mad Maxine Waters, who stopped just short of calling for rioting and looting if Mr Chauvin wasn't convicted. Isn't that what "taking it to the streets" means, to people of the coloured persuasion? "Reparations shopping", anyone?

What surprised me was the conviction of Mr Chauvin on all three counts. My legal advisor, Agent 3, practised in another jurisdiction, where typically the state makea a practice of "overcharging" -- throwing two or more charges at an accused and hoping that one will stick, or that the accused will plead to the lighter charge rather than take a chance. In the Chauvin case, the defence did offer to pleade to third-degree murder, but the state went ahead with all three.

Was the fix in, already? I don't understand how someone can be guilty of three distinct offences arising out of the same occurrence. I can almost understand the distinction between Murder 2 and Murder 3, but I always thought murder and manslaughter, requiring a finding of the intention of the accused, could not be the same thing. I would expect that to be one of the ground of the upcoming appeal.

The main ground, to my mind, will be that the jury was prejudiced by the intensely anti-cop, pro-BLM coverage of the lickspittle media, as well as a settlement in the civil case brought by George Floyd's family.

Two weeks before testimony in the Chauvin trial began, but while jury selection was in progress, the city of Minneapolis agreed to pay $27 million to settle a civil lawsuit brought by the Floyd family over Saint George's death, making him worth a helluva lot more in death than he ever was or would have been in life. [By rights they ought to give part of the money to Mr Chauvin! Ed.]

Mr Chauvin's attorney said the settlement had an "incredible propensity to taint a jury pool," but Judge Peter Cahill rejected the defence request to delay the trial because of the settlement.

The defence may also argue, on appeal, that Judge Cahill's decision to hold the trial in Minneapolis was wrong, and virtually ensured a conviction. The defence had argued it was impossible to find an impartial jury in the city, which was rocked by "mostly peaceful protests" over Mr Floyd's death. Judge Cahill thought that since the case was already one of the most scrutinized in American history, moving it wouldn't make much of a difference.

But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more.... Late in the trial, another case of what the lickspittle media called "white police murder of a black p0erson" occurred in a suburb of Minneapolis.  Brooklyn Center MN cops shot and killed Daunte Wright, a motorist stopped (the meeja says) for DWB (Driving While Black).

Mad Maxine Waters (D-CA) flew to Brooklyn Center [on her broom? Ed.] over the weekend -- the weekend before jury deliberations were to start! -- and urged protesters "to get more confrontational" if Derek Chauvin was found not guilty. On Monday, Judge Cahill called her comments "abhorrent", but denied a defence request for a mistrial. "I'll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result on this whole trial being overturned." Let us hope so!

Meanwhile, in Columbis OH, just as the Chauvin verdict was being announced, police held a presser at which they released bodycam footage of a white cop shooting a black girl who, it appeaered, was trying to stab two people with a knife. A black-handled blade resembling a kitchen knife or steak knife was in clear view lying on the sidewalk next to her immediately after she was shot. She was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

While we wait for the next act in the evil white cops vs saintly BIPOCs drama, Walt has a suggestion which might accomplish... peacefully... the "complete change in politicing in America" called for by Michael Moore [Who he? Ed.] and other leftist paragons of virtue. The idea sprang into my mind when Mrs Walt asked how many white people had been killed by black cops -- a question for which I have no answer.

My idea is this. Since all the trouble seems to arise in interracial "interactions" -- everything in the Excited States of America comes down to race -- why not establish separate (but equal!) police forces for separate (but absolutely equal!) races?

According to my brilliant plan, a caller to 9-1-1 would be asked if the persons involved are Persons of Colour (POCs). If the answer is yes, POCs (Policepersons of Colour) would be despatched. That way, any tragic deaths which might ensue could not be put down to racism.

But wait... there's a bonus. My plan would require the hiring of many ore POCs (Policepersons of Colour), thus putting paid to complaints that POCs (People of Colour) are under-represented in America's police forces. Black cops for black communities! It's an inspired idea, the real beauty party being that the Al Sharptons and AOCs of this world can't argue against it without admitting that People of Colour are incapable of policing themselves!

Footnote: You think the idea of segregated communities policing themselves is crazy or racist or both? Well, they already do that in parts of Canada, where First Nations (Americans read: Native Indian) reserves (Americans read: reservations) are policed by First Nations police. You could look it up.

Austrian polizei fine man for farting in their general direction

No, this story was not made up by the Monty Pythons.

The Grauniad reports that a man in Vienna has been fined €500 ($563 in real money) for breaking wind loudly in front of police. The Österreich newspaper reported that the penalty stemmed from an incident on June 5th and that the offender was fined for offending public decency.

City police wrote on Twitter "of course no one is reported for accidentally letting one go," but added that the man had behaved provocatively and uncooperatively during an encounter with officers that preceded the incident. He got up from a park bench, they said, looked at officers and "let go a massive intestinal wind apparently with full intent."

Inspektor Katzenhammeer noted that the decision could be appealed against.

Note from Ed.: You can't imagine how long I've waited to be able to use this meme. Walt said the day would never come, but he was wrong! {Lifetime pct .977.)

Whiteman's Immutable Laws of Firearm Interaction

The marches for increased gun control -- and against Trump and other scary things -- took place as scheduled yesterday. The usual suspects turned out in their 1000s, putting the innocent children up front to hide the antifa and BLM placards. Now that the demonstrators have gone home, it's time to clean up the trash -- wish there were tougher litter control laws -- and reflect on America's gun culture.

Here are my Immutable Law of Firearm Interaction.

For the purposes of this discussion, let us divide Americans into three groups: (A) ordinary citizens -- folks like you and me (or at least me; I'm not so sure about you). (B) criminals -- the kind of people who disregard gun control laws, the people who will still have firearms even after the police state has taken them away from the rest of us. (C) the gestapo ["police", shurely! Ed.]... OK, police, including customs officers, park rangers, security guards and all the others who wear badges and are allowed to carry guns.

The laws are these.

In any intereaction between A and A, where one or both As are armed, anyone who survives will be charged. If a gunshot victim is a "person of colour" and the shooter is white, the shooter will be branded a racist Nazi. (Cf. Trayvon Martin case.) If there are three or more victims, the shooter will be called an insane monster and a product of our sick society.

In any interaction between A and B, where A is armed and B is not, A will be charged. (I speak from personal experience.) If B is armed, and especially if B is so a "person of colour" (see above), both will be charged and A will be told that instead of defending himself he should have called C.

In any interaction between A and C, if A is armed he will be deemed a B. If A is unarmed and is shot by C, and somehow survives, he will be charged. If A does not survive, C will be placed on administrative leave (Cf. Stephon Clark case, a few days ago), then possibly tried and acquitted of any wrongdoing, especially if A is a "person of colour" and C is white.

In any interaction between B and B, it doesn't matter who's armed and who's not. C will conduct a cursory investigation of any gunplay but will be unable to get anyone to talk, so no charges will be laid. Civil authorities will tut-tut about guns and gangs and build another basketball court in the project.

In any interaction between B and C, it will be assumed that B was armed, even if he wasn't, or if B's "suspected firearm" turns out to be a cellphone or a pocket knife, especially if B is (as is often the case) a "person of colour". If B survives, he will be charged. If B doesn't survive, no-one will be charged, and C will get a citation for heroism. If C doesn't survive, B will be charged and C will get a police funeral attended by 1000s of Cs from all over North America, at taxpayers' expense.

In any interaction between C and C
, the parties will be excused on the grounds that they were just horsing around in the station house. The police will investigate themselves and punish any wrongdoing by docking the offender a few hours' pay.

Corollary: Tighter gun control laws will have no effect except to make life harder for A.

Walt's action recommendation: When they come for your guns and ammunition, give `em the ammo first!

HKG woman convicted of assaulting cop with her breasts

Walt apologizes sincerely and profusely for not being able to find a video or at least a better picture to go with the following true story from the Mysterious Orient. [Actually, I'm the one who should be apologizing. But in WWW (unlike Washington DC) the boss carries the can for whatever happens... or doesn't. Ed.]

The South China Morning Post reported on Friday that Ms Ng Lai-ying, aged 30, has been convicted of assaulting a police officer with her breasts during a violent protest in Hong Kong. She was taking part in a demonstration on the streets of Yuen Long against parallel trading (sort of a black market for mainland Chinese) when the incident took place last March.

Ms Ng claimed that Chief Inspector Chan of the Hong Kong police had tried to grab her bag but instead touched her left breast. However, Inspector Chan insisted that it was Ms Ng who bumped her breasts into his arm in order to falsely accuse him of assault.

The presiding magistrate sided with the cop -- surprise, surprise! -- telling the accused, "You used your female identity to trump up the allegation that the officer had molested you." And, he added, Ms Ng's "malicious" claims were damaging to the CI’s reputation. Officers policing protests "should be protected", he said. "There were two groups of people expressing different points of view at the protest. Without police officers there to maintain order, it is not surprising that there was commotion, or even clashes."

Walt has seen a picture of Ms Ng, taken following her arrest, which show her face (only) with a bloody nose, which she said she got when the cops pushed her to the ground. We have chosen instead this photo, which appeared on the Net within minutes. Agent 78 translates the caption as "Big or small, your boobs can be a weapon!"

Ms Ng is to be sentenced later this month. However, Agent 3 recommends an appeal on the grounds that the alleged weapons were not produced and identified in court.

Walt would like to know the calibre of the "weapons". Assuming they were, say, 34A -- typical for a 30-year-old Chinese -- surely the maxim De minimis non curat lex would apply!

WANTED for theft of 14 tons of nuts

Yes, it's a squirrel. And yes, this picture really was posted on the Facebook page of the Shelby Township MI Police Department. They're looking for the thief who stole about 14 tons of packaged snack nuts from a parked tractor trailer sometime over the weekend of June 27th.

A Shelby PD spokesthingy told the press that the wanted poster has not produced any leads on the actual culprit, so far. "Obviously the squirrel attracted some attention but not the types of calls that we were hoping for," said. Det. Lt. Jason Schmittler said.

The Facebook page now includes a warning that "The squirrel is not a suspect. It's just a picture. Used to draw attention. Please do not call in squirrel sightings."

Note from Ed.: Shelby Township is about 30 miles north of Detroit. It is not to be confused with Shelbyville, which is near Springfield in another state.

VIDEO: "Bikini bandits" stop speeders in Denmark

Seems like everyone in this neck of the woods is getting heartily sick of winter. To combat SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), Agent 6 has sent us some good cheer in the form of a video from Denmark. Apparently controlling speeding motorists is as much a problem in that small and laidback country as it is here. Trust the Danes to think of an effective way to get them to slow down!

There now. Don't you feel warmer already? Kind of like a toasted Danish?

Note from Ed.: It has occurred to us that, even though we're still nearly two months away from April 1st, this might be a hoax. But who cares?!

St. Louis County cops kill another black guy, < 5 miles from Ferguson

Ed. here. Walt is sleeping off the effects of the previous post about the millions of dollars being spent to investigate racial profiling by American cops. I don't have the heart to wake him to show him the story that just came over the AP wire via Fox News.

The St. Louis County police are bracing for more allegations of racism and "racial profiling" following the shooting of a 42-year-old black man, as yet unnamed, in Jennings MO, a town of about 15,000 just down the road -- that would be Ferguson Avenue -- from Ferguson MO, where young Michael Brown was shot dead by a policeman back in August. As you know.

The county cops may find it easier to defend themselves this time, seeing as how the "victim" was armed with a .22-calibre rifle, which he attempted to fire at officers who were pursuing him on foot following a 9-1-1 call from a woman who said a man was at her door with a sawed off shotgun. The woman and the man reportedly knew each other and "may have been romantically involved in the past".

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said the man had a lengthy criminal record. Two white police officers fired 25 shots at him, with at least one finding its target.

"Rev." Al Sharpton is expected on the scene momentarily. Riots and cries for "justice" for the poor departed are expected as soon as the nearest liquor store can be located. And Attorney-General Eric Holder will come down from Washington to personally investigate this latest example of unfair and unjust "racial profiling".

Nearly $5 million to be spent proving US police are racists

More good news out of Washington! President Obarmy's Chief Kleagle [Attorney-General Eric Holder. Ed.] announced this week that the US Justice Department is going to spend $4,750,000 of Americans' tax dollars to study police arrest data for evidence of racial bias. The study will look at records from five cities (yet to be chosen) to see if police are using "racial profiling" to determine what kind of people could be described as "the usual suspects".

Putting it another way, "law enforcement experts" will be looking for evidence of bias against decent, law-abiding citizens like these.

Walt wonders who could possibly be biased against people like this, and why millions of dollars needs to be spent to study the alleged problem. Here are some possible reasons.

Item: This project comes after the violent unrest in Ferguson MO last month. The rioters -- for that's what they were -- looked a lot like, errr, the upstanding citizens shown in this picture.

Item: Mr. Holder happens to be a gentleman of the coloured persuasion... not too coloured, mind you. So is his boss.

Item: The study will be conducted by "experts" from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, as well as Yale Law School, the Center for Policing Equity [sic] at UCLA, and the Washington-based Urban Institute -- all fine institutions completely free of any eastern/intellectual/liberal/federalist bias.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that "the researchers involved in the project say they bringing a holistic approach that combines training of police officers on issues of racial bias, data analysis and interviews with community members. They will be reviewing police behavior in the cities in hopes of building community trust and creating an evidence-based model that could be applied more broadly."

Note from Ed.: I regret to advise that Walt was taken violently ill after typing that last paragraph. I have given him a small dish of jellied gin and put him to bed. He may be able to return tomorrow.

Canuck cops, paramedics nominated for group Darwin Award

What you see here is the scene of a joint training exercise, held earlier today in Kanata ON, involving the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Ottawa Police Department, and a group of "tactical paramedics". The demonstration of "How to make a forced entry into a building" resulted in serious injuries to two of Ottawa's finest and one of the paramedics.

"Forced entries" are any entries that require more than a simple door-opening, of which all police officers are assumed to be capable. If that doesn't work, the "tactical units" -- SWAT teams, if you like -- could use a battering ram or a vehicle to force their way through a barrier. Or they could use a "controlled explosion"...if they knew how to control an explosion, which is what they were supposed to be learning today.

"Tactical paramedics" are trained, in events such as today's, for high-risk scenarios such as executing warrants, scenes where an active shooter is present, or dealing with a hostage-taking. Regular paramedics generally don’t go into these dangerous scenes until police have cleared the affected area, but tactical paramedics follow police in and quickly begin assessing the situation, dealing with injured people they encounter and administering aid.

To provide "a more real-life training experience", police seek out locations with abandoned buildings, such as the one shown, where the property owner allows them to play with fire, possibly in hopes of collecting an insurance settlement. Today's exercise got way too real, as an apparently uncontrolled explosion sent three paramedics and two cops to hospital.

Ottawa police Chief Charles Bordeleau said he couldn't comment on what might have caused the blast, since the training was being conducted under "very stringent safety protocols". The RCMP and Ottawa police are investigating each other, and the Ontario Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate the whole lot of them.

Until responsibility for the, errr, unfortunate accident has been properly apportioned, Walt has no choice but to nominate all participants, as a group, for a Darwin Awards Honourable Mention. Well done, those men!

Note to Agent 17: To qualify for a full Darwin Award (with bar), the surivor(s) of an incident such as this must be blown up again... and again... until dead.

French cops racist? Main non! It's only a "negro party"!

Several police officers from the Paris suburb of Kremlin-Bicêtre [no kidding. Ed.] are in trouble after photos surfaced of them in blackface at a "negro" party, according to a report in Le Figaro.

Here we see les flics, some apparently wearing frizzy or dreadlock wigs [No kidding? It's not their real hair? Ed.] dressed in what seems to be improvised African garb. This is not a costume, they explained, but a representation of normal street clothing as seen every day in many Paris suburbs.

As for the second photo, well, what can one say except that the party was meant to be private. However, one of the cops' colleagues, Claudy "the Rat" Siar -- formerly a "racial equality officer" posted the images online. Guess he was miffed at not being invited to the party.

The five officers, whose names were not published, face an internal review. It's not clear what sort of disciplinary action they may face. Deportation to... let's say Detroit... seems not to be an option.

9-1-1? Help! My dog licked me!

Whaddya do when something -- anything -- goes wrong? Why, call 9-1-1 of course! What if my dog, with his horrible doggy breath and wet doggy tongue, licks my face? That's right! Call 9-1-1-!

Must have been a slow news day yesterday, because CBC News made space and time for a story about people tying up the 9-1-1 emergency call service with pocket dials and calls that are just plain stupid.

The Emergency Management Office of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia [It figures. Ed.] says 20% of all 9-1-1 calls are pocket dials -- when you sit on your phone and your buttock presses the speed dial number -- or other non-emergencies. Said dispatcher Michelle Burhoe, "It makes it a little more difficult for us to concentrate on one task at a time because we're constantly stopping to answer the 911 calls when they're pocket dials."

The pocket dials cause trouble because the operator has to stay on the line until she/he can confirm that the call really isn't an emergency, which means that the caller has to pick up the phone and fess up. If the caller can't or won't talk to the dispatcher, police must respond, which is annoying for all concerned and costly to taxpayers.

Bogus emergencies are a problem too. Ms Burhoe recounts an incident in which "We had a 911 call from a man who wasn't sure if he needed medical attention because he was licked by a puppy. We [also] had a little boy call because he was terrified of a spider."

Constable Pierre Bourdage of Halifax Regional Police said officers were called to 5,300 misdialed 9-1-1 calls in 2013. "A police officer will give you a little warning," he said, "and sometimes it's a child, or the phone was knocked over. But we do have to check that everyone is safe and no one is in danger."

Bogus calls can attract a hefty fine. If you do misdial, Walt advises you to stay on the line to tell them, so police aren’t dispatched. If you're embarrassed, just say you meant to dial 9-1-2. You're welcome.

Latest fashion for Muslim policewomen... guess where???

Here's the latest in police uniforms designed with political correctness in mind. These two policewomen [female police officers? lady cops? Ed.] are seen on foot patrol, but it's not because they're in Saudi Arabia, where women aren't allowed to drive cars. Noooo... they are in London, England, where the Muslim tail continues to wag the Christian/secular dog. [Must be some kind of mixed breed. Ed.

But the UK is not the only once-Western country where daughters of Islam in the forces will be authorized to cover their hair. Again, noooo.... Police in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) -- once a bastion of redneck conservatism -- will this week unveil (`scuse the pun!) their own version of the uniform hijab.

According to the Notional Post, the head covering is designed to be worn under a standard uniform cap, so it won't be so noticeable as to give offence to men who think it's bad enough to have female cops in the first place.

The hijab will also be attached to something or other with snaps or velcro, so that it can be torn off easily in a fight. Walt can only speculate about what sort of charges would be laid against someone who assaulted a hijab-wearing copwoman. Would they be prosecuted under the Criminal Code or the Human Rights Act... or both?! The mind boggles.

Edmonton city councillor Scott McKeen [a keen Scot? maybe not. Ed.], called letting Muslim PWs wear the hijab a "gesture of inclusion" toward the local Muslim community which, he said, "can feel a little skittish at times" about Islamophobia. "One of the perceptions about Edmonton and Alberta is that we’re kind of redneck.... [Now we're] sort of saying we want to have a diverse police service that reflects the diversity and multicultural aspects of Edmonton. I’m proud of us."

Note from Ed.: Walt was unable to add a further comment, as he had to leave the room to avoid being sick on the keyboard.

Poor Len reveals what state Walt lives in

Walt and Poor Len grew up [more or less. Ed.] in a neighbourhood that looked like this -- like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. (We didn't go to the "slow school" though. Ours was red brick, for the faster kids.)

But our image of the friendly neighbourhood cop -- the image which was washed into our little brains by our parents, our teachers, the parish priest and pretty much everyone -- was much like what you see here.

The policeman was our friend! He helped us cross the busy street and generally watched over us, like a guardian angel with a gas station attendant's cap and white gloves. If you needed help, call a cop!

Times and neighbourhoods have changed. Cops have changed too, as libertarian Radley Balko (who blogs for the Huffington Post as "The Agitator") declares in his first book, Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America's Police Forces (PublicAffairs, 2013). Nowadays the cops you meet -- you should be so unlucky! -- look more like this.

They won't be your local neighbourhood cops either. Gone are the days when a policeman who lived in your `hood actually pounded a beat, on foot. [That's where the old nickname "flatfoot" came from. Ed.] Modern cops, when they're not in the donut shop, cruise around in air-conditioned "prowl cars"... or better yet, armored personnel carriers. Len isn't making that up. Mr. Balko says the Fargo ND police department has one, complete with rotating gun turret.

And they'll be considerably better armed and armored too. Even cops on traffic patrol wear kevlar vests and carry an awesome array of automatic weapons, tasers, pepper spray and other WMDs, all the better to subdue perps going 10 mph over the speed limit.

This all started in... wait for it... the hippy-dippy 60s, when young people started to think for themselves -- shock! horror! -- and "do their own thing", in defiance of The Authorities and Forces for Good in our society. It was the social upheaval caused by free thinkers and non-conformists that caught the attention of our politicians and led to the "get tough on crime" policies of Nixon and his successors.

The way Mr. Balko puts it, the "Silent Majority began to see a link between drugs, crime, the counter-culture and race". The problem is that it's virtually impossible not to get involved in some way with at least one of those four things. That's why the Excited States of America has such incredibly high numbers of convicts and ex-convicts, especially of the non-white persuasion.

So also, no matter what colour you are or what you're doing, the policeman who used to be your friend (LOL) now sees you as the enemy. You could be a non-English-speaker who wandered into a "secure area" of an airport because you got lost, and got tasered to death by four (4) Mounties. That happened in Vancouver in 2007 and no-one has yet been found guilty of anything. Or you could be the next Rodney King. Nuff said.

Not just libertarians but all Americans and Canadians should be concerned about the effects on our society of the militarization of the police and the criminalization -- in the minds of the police -- of everyone else. Rise of the Warrior Cop is our summer "must read".

Oh... I promised to tell you what state Walt lives in. Walt lives in a police state.

Sex crimes in the military and police: Walt has the solution

Interesting to watch the chiefs of the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard testifying about the sex crimes scandals in front of a Senate committee yesterday. They were flanked by countless underlings, all in dress uniform. Why, there was more salad in that room yesterday than on the buffet at the Willard.

The military chiefs were shocked, shocked to learn of the 10s of 1000s of cases of sexual harrassment and assault -- meaning everything from ass-grabbing to violent rape -- reported every year. Not to mention an equal or higher number which are not reported for fear of retribution or at least diminution of mililtary career prospects.

They were more shocked to hear that the rate of conviction in cases brought before military tribunals is substantially lower than for similar prosecutions in civil courts. Worse yet, many commanders, for reasons known only to them, set aside convictions, leaving the guilty horndogs with not even a reprimand on their records.

If these were war crimes -- like the slaughter of innocent villagers in Afghanistan -- exonerating the perps would be Standard Operating Procedure, because war is hell. But we're talking about incidents at home in the USA, not in theaters of war. And we're talking about crimes committed by soldiers, sailors and airmen against female soldiers, sailors and, errr, well, you know what I mean.

Such criminal behaviour is not confined to the US military. It's the same in police forces too. Nor is the abuse and humiliation of women to be found only in America, where notions of "gender equality" are strongest. North of the border, the famous (or infamous) Royal Canadian Mounted Police are on the sharp end of a class action lawsuit alleging serious and persistent harrassment and abuse of female Mounties.

In all the testimony as to the reasons for these crimes and what should be done to the perps, one basic point has been overlooked. It falls to Walt to point out that the incidence of heterosexual rape and other sex crimes in the military was just about nil until the 1970s. That's because until the feminists started nagging for gender equality, there were virtually no women in regular units of the police and armed forces. Security and law enforcement was a man's world!

But, the bra-burners and wimmin's libbers insisted, whatever a man can do, a woman can do too! (Walt can think of one exception but that's a topic for another day.) Not only can do, but ought to do. Including combat duty in the war zones of Baghdad or Trenton NJ.

Some old-fashioned types (like Walt) said that if you put a few even moderately attractive women in the same barracks or shelter half with men who haven't had the "comforts of home" in months (and who are bullies by nature anyway, otherwise why would they be in uniform), there's bound to be sexual tension and sexual trouble. And that's exactly what happened.

So the solution is simple. If women want to be in the armed forces, put them in segregated units, as was done before. Keep them away from the men!

Then the guys can go back to having sex with each other, if they're desperate enough. It was good enough for the Royal Navy, which in the old days was said to "run on rum and buggery". And in today's PC world, no-one's going to make a fuss about homosexual rape.

Footnote: The soldiers in the picture are Israelis. They have been disciplined for posting this photo on Facebook. Walt supposes that if US wimmin soldiers looked like this (instead of like Ellen DeGeneres) the problem would be even worse!

How a geezer got the police to help him defend his home and property

At least two of Walt's agents -- numbers 3 and 17 -- have expressed concern about a citizen's inability to defend his home by shooting intruders, or at least shooting at them, without being charged by The Authorities with a firearms offence or worse. Agent 17 has sent us a cute little story which makes the point.

George Phillips, an elderly man from Walled Lake MI, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
George said "No, but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me."
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available."
George said, "Okay."

Then George hung up the phone, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.
"Hello," he said, "I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both. My dogs are eating them right now," and he hung up.

Within five minutes, six police cars, a SWAT team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the policemen said to George, "I thought you said you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Great story, eh! But it does have the air of the urban myth -- like the vanishing hitchiker and the exploding toilet. And sure enough, Snopes.com reported this one way back in 2001, at which time it was supposed to have been a report in the Meridian (MS) Star.  Still "George Phillips" though!

Walt also heard a variation on this story a couple of times while residing in Ha-ha-harare, the fun capital of Africa, where the reason for the cops' non-attendance was supposed to have been lack of transportation.

Still a great story, and never let anyone tell you there's no truth in it. Ask Agent 3 who once took a potshot at an intruder -- a warning shot across the bow, as it were -- and quickly found himself being Further Dealt With According to the Law.

Fake "obeah man" cons Jamaican murderers into confessing

Walt's favourite court-watcher, Agent 3, has been following a murder case wending its way through the courts of Ontario, Canada's most populous province. As those who know the Greater [sic] Toronto Area would expect, race and religion are involved.

The victim of a 2004 shooting in Brampton, Ontario -- an increasingly dark bedroom community northwest of Toronto -- was Youhan Oraha, a drug dealer. The three accused were Evol Robinson, his differently-surnamed brother Jahmar Welsh, and their friend Ruben Pinnock. All of the accused are, errr, Jamaican-Canadians.

In their trial before Mr. Justice Terrance O'Connor of the Ontario Superior Court, the evidence which did them in was that of an undercover cop who posed as an "obeah spiritual advisor", to whom the accused gave what amounted to a confession.

A confession given to a Catholic priest would have been inadmissible under Canadian law. Sadly for the accused, obeah has nothing to do with Christianity. It centres on mysticism and spiritualism and is commonly practised by people of Caribbean descent. The word "voodoo" comes to mind, but at the trial four defence experts at trial called obeah "a form of religious practice".

Judge O'Connor questioned the sincerity of the accused's religious beliefs, and allowed the fake testimony of "Leon de Obeah Man". The bogus spiritualist had told the boys that the Robinson family was cursed by an evil spirit, a "white boy" who had drawn police and the judiciary to them. He offered to protect them, so they spilled their guts to him. "Guilty, guilty, guilty!" Said the judge.

Was that the end of it? Is the Pope Catholic? [Apparently not. Ed.] Enter the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and the African-Canadian Legal Clinic, organizations funded by charitable donations and tax dollars willingly and unwillingly provided by whities. These assiduous opponents of racism and champions of religious freedom put to the Ontario Court of Appeal the argument that the religious rights of the accused were breached by the racist police, in sending "Leon" to extract incriminating information that the accused otherwise wouldn't have given.

The CCLA intervention argued that allowing police to impersonate religious advisers "shocks the conscience of Canadians." The African Canadian Legal Clinic said the police trickery "preyed on the Robinson family's deep-seated mistrust of the criminal justice system". Well, duh!

The appeal court disagreed with the appeal to political correctness. In a judgement released yesterday, three white judges wrote: "We conclude that any religious element in the Obeah sessions with Leon is properly characterized as trivial, insubstantial and dwarfed by the corrupt motives that induced the appellants to participate in and fall for the elaborate scheme of deception practised upon them."

Furthermore, the court found police did not compel any action for a religious purpose. "Leon encouraged the appellants to adopt Obeah practices, but encouragement short of compulsion does not infringe" religious rights, said the judges.

Nor did the judges accept that the applicants were "unfairly targeted because of they are black and of Jamaican heritage". Rather, they were singled out because they were suspected of murder. Well said. Let's see the liberal activist lawyers get the Supreme Court of Canada to reverse that one!

American gun owners, be warned by the Canadian experience

The Canadian government, like that of Communist China, doesn't trust its citizens to have guns. That's a fact. The only people allowed to have firearms should be the police and the armed forces -- the agents the state uses to control ordinary Canucks. That's the plan.

Walt thanks Agent 17 for drawing our attention to a cautionary commentary by Brian Lilley, which appeared on SunNews back in January. Interestingly, although the link sent by our agent still works, the video itself no longer appears on the SunNews website. Is there something wrong with Ed.'s browser or is the ruthless Canadian "Ministry of Public Safety" trying to silence its critics? Fortunately, at least part of the video made it to YouTube. Here it is.

Agent 17 wanted to know if the story of Bruce Montague's prosecution by the Canadian authorities -- that should be in caps: AUTHORITIES -- is true. Yes, it is. But Mr. Montague is fighting back. Click here to go to his website, featuring details of the case and (more important) an analysis of how his treatment by the AUTHORITIES violates the Canadian Charter of so-called Rights and so-called Freedoms.

But this is nothing new. Back on the late 70s, one of Walt's own agents, kept a legally registered pistol in his office in Canada's so-called Province of Opportunity. Our agent was in the sort of business where it is not unheard of for malefactors and tortfeasors to show up on one's doorstep with booze in their bellies and mayhem in their minds.

That's exactly what happened one warm summer evening. When he heard heavy footfalls on the office stairs, our agent confronted the young punk and, apprehending an altercation, fired a warning shot across said punk's low brow. Guess who got arrested? You got it! Our agent spent a couple of nights in the county bucket and months in pre-trial detention before having several law books thrown at him by a judge who felt that our agent should have called the police, whose "local" office was some 15 miles distant.

Want more? Click here to read a similar story about New Brunswick resident Lawrence Manzer, who was (like our agent) charged with "possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace". There's a video report too. The title of the webpage is "Here's a reason to be ashamed to be a Canadian".

Dear readers, the argument against turning our countries into police states is old, simple and true. If your government succeeds in making it illegal for law-abiding citizens to have firearms for recreation and self-defence, the only people left in possession of guns will be the Agents of Control and, errr, the criminals to whom the law means nothing.
