Revenge for "Lake America" - "Av Trump Ave" to be renamed?

The blowback from President Trump's purported renaming of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" increases by the hour. The mojo wire just spat out a report that the city council of Ottawa, the capital of Canuckistan, is searching for a new name for "Av Trump Ave" (it's a bilingual sign, see), a small street in a quiet subdivision in the city's west end.

Wikipedia says the street was "indirectly named" for the Donald. In fact the developers who turned an experimental farm into the Central Park subdivision in the 1990s named the street directly after the infamous real-estate developer for explicitly articulated marketing reasons.

All the streets in Central Park contain themed references to the tony parts of the Big Apple, but alas, there is no original "Trump Avenue" in NYC, so they just made that one up. In the `90s, the Trump name had connotations of glitz, wealth and commercial vision rather than the overweening egotism and self-destructive foolishness with which we associate it today. Writing in the Notional Pest, Colby Cosh says, "Trump is now the world’s most notorious practitioner of crazed onomastic revision itself! And, as we all know, his amour-propre has the size and flammable nature of a zeppelin: he will actually feel indignant and aggrieved if he gets wind that the impulsively named Trump Avenue has suddenly been re-branded." 

What would he do then? Where will this all end up? Walt is making popcorn...

Trudeau's use of Emergencies Act against Freedom Convoy deemed ILLEGAL by Canada's Federal Court of Appeal

Cazart! It took nearly four years -- things never happen quickly in the Great No-longer-white North -- but the truth has come out! Canada's Liberal government has lost its appeal against a ruling by the Federal Court that found the invocation of the Emergencies Act by the despised Prime Minister Trudeau during the 2022 Freedom Convoy protests was unreasonable. Honk honk honk!

The decision of the Federal Court of Appeal -- second highest to the Supreme Court of Canada -- follows a ruling by the Federal Court in 2024 that the invocation of the act in response to the protests was unreasonable, unjustified, and violated Charter rights. 

In the 178-page decision, released on Friday, Chief Justice de Montigny said he was dismissing all the appeals against the lower court’s decision. "We are therefore of the view (like the Federal Court) that, on the basis of the record, Cabinet could not reasonably come to the conclusion that existing provincial capacity and authority could not effectively address the situation,” he wrote. 

"We are of the view that Cabinet did not have reasonable grounds to believe that a national emergency existed, taking into account the wording of the Act, its constitutional underpinning and the record that was before it at the time the decision was made,” he continued. 

Following the lower court's decision, then deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland (see WWW passim) vowed her government would appeal the ruling. Her boss, Blackie McBlackface, invoked the Act on St. Valentine's Day of 2022, to end the protests by freedom-loving truckers that had gridlocked Ottawa’s downtown streets for almost a month. The act gave the feds the power to compel tow truck companies to co-operate with local police to clear blockades, mark parts of the downtown core as no-go zones and freeze the bank accounts of some protestors. 

Canadian civil liberties organizations, including the Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF) and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA), argued the federal government went beyond its powers. Christine Van Geyn, litigation director at the CCF, said they were thrilled with Friday’s decision, which represents a "complete repudiation" of Shiny Pony's position on the invocation of the act. 

"This is an affirmation from the court that these are fundamental freedoms that Canadians have that were violated by the freezing of bank accounts, by the invocation of this act, by the by the banning of assemblies," said Ms Van Geyn. "We’re thrilled with the decision, and we think the court got this right."

The CCLA said they were pleased with the court’s decision and the reasons given by the Federal Court of Appeal. "You’ll recall that in order to invoke the the Emergencies Act, the Cabinet must be satisfied of two things; that there are threats to the security of Canada, and that the existing laws of Canada are insufficient to deal with those threats so that the emergency is a national emergency," said Ewa Krajewska. "Neither of these legal thresholds were met in this case."

Both organizations said they will be prepared to go to the Supreme Court of Canada, should the federal government decide to take the case to the highest court. A minion of the Public Safety Minister [sic] said the federal government now led by Marx Carnage (who was in China sucking up to the Commies when the decision was released) is reviewing the ruling and assessing next steps.

Walt has questions about those "next steps".

Will the people who supported the truckers financially and were "debanked" in consequence get their savings (confiscated by the Liberals) refunded?

Will the truckers whose vehicles -- the tools by which they earn a living -- get their were seized get them back? 

Will the alleged leaders of the protest, demonized as criminals by lickspittle Ontario criminal courts, have their convictions overturned or at least receive pardons?

And how about a sincere apology to all victims of the tyranny of "liberal democracy"? Walt reckons chances of that happening are slim and none. Lifetime pct .989.

The Queen of Horsewomen

Now that the King and Queen of Canada [sic] are winging their way back to Old Blighty on an RCAF stretch Cessna, Walt can reveal details of an occurrence that nearly provoked a Royal Row during the couple's quickie visit to Ottawa yesterday and today.

Charles and his consort Camilla (Americans should think of her as a British version of Kamala -- they share the same taste in drink) were on hand to open Canada's 45th Parliament by reading the Speech from the Throne, normally the task of the Governor-General, who represents His Majesty when he is not in the Great No-longer-white North.

The couple rode to the parliament buildings from their residence at Rideau Hall in the royal landau, a magnificent horse-drawn carriage. (The very woke king is said to have been disappointed that the horses have not been replaced by a battery.) When Camilla, who is horsey to the point of being horse-faced, stepped out onto the stoop of Rideau Hall, this happened....

A  parcel of wine-flushed stable boys ran out, seized the queen with various sharp cries in horse language, and forcibly backed her into the shafts of the waiting landau. She had been almost fully harnessed when the mistake was discovered. 

Walt can reveal that there was royal hell to pay when the error came to the attention of His Royal Highness, who cherishes for his lady his own queer brand of senile admiration: "Best seat in England, old boy. Finest pair of hands in the realm. Comes down to breakfast on horseback, dontcha know!"

Queen Camilla is very popular with the younger set and is one of the most interesting personalities one meets at the York Hunt Club ball. After a week in the saddle, she finds her relaxation in poetry, play writing, novel writing, dancing and film work.

Walt can reveal that the Camilla complexion, the envy of millions of women, can be had by anybody for the asking. After a hard day in the saddle, she likes to retire to her room and rub into her face a "base" of liquid suet. She then works in a mixture of flour, mashed potatoes and treacle. On top of this goes a liberal plaster of beaten eggs and Scotch whisky. When all this stuff is scraped off, you have the complexion that has payed havoc with many a susceptible young ballet-boy.  

Ed.: We can't have much more of this. Space must be found for a piece about the effect of the Royal Presence on President Trump.

Even Canada's lickspittle media couldn't ignore the "Million March for Children", held in cities across Canuckistan yesterday. 1000s of concerned Canadian parents, kids, and others -- including religious Catholics, Protestants and (yes!) Muslims -- showed up to protest LGBT indoctrination in the schools of the Great Woke North.

In the capital city, crowds of protesters and counter-protesters, believed to be in the hundreds on each side, yelled and chanted at each other from across Wellington Street, a large demonstration opposed to teaching LGBTQ2S+ issues in schools took over Parliament Hill. 

Yes, we have video! Maxime Bernier, erstwhile leader of the People's Party of Canada (Yes, he and they are still fighting the good fight!) answers the headline question. 

You'd think the answer would be obvious, but "Mad Max" is the only leader of a Canadian political party with the intestinal fortitude to say it out loud!

The stated goal of the protesters is to make schools -- Canadian school boards, particularly the Toronto District School Board, are notoriously "woke" -- stop teaching children about gay, lesbian and trans people, which the protesters claim runs counter to their rights as parents to control their children's moral and social upbringing. 

Protesters held signs with slogans that included "leave the kids alone" and "pride comes before destruction". Some people at the protest called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign, as the ever-popular "Fuck Trudeau" flags, first seen during the Freedom Convoy, fluttered in the wind.

The protesters complained about "intrusive elements of sexual orientation and gender ideology" (read: pro-queer agenda) in the school system. They said they don't hate the LGBTQ2S+ community, but they oppose the school systems promoting queer issues in ways that they believe go against the values and beliefs they want to raise their children with. 

The march comes on the heels of months of cultural battles in Canada as well as the US of A over "gay rights", particularly involving transgender people and "gender-affirming care" -- e.g. body mutilation -- for minors. 

Besides cutting off various appendages, "medical interventions" can include puberty blockers, and hormone treatments. Other parts of "gender-affirming care" (read: grooming!) can include accepting the use of a different name or preferred pronouns or dressing as the preferred gender, which we used to call "transvestism" (a psychological abnormality or perversion) or simply "cross-dressing".

The governments of the provinces of Saskatchewan and New Brunswick have tabled legislation that would require that educators obtain parental consent if a child wishes to use a different name at school or be addressed by different pronouns. Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Education Minister Stephen Lecce have discussed similar ideas but, so far, no legislation has been announced in Ontario.

The issue has also  raised its bewigged head in federal politics. At the recent Conservative Party of Canada convention, delegates voted in favour of a future Conservative government prohibiting "life-altering" medical and surgical interventions for "gender-diverse and transgender people" under the age of 18. But the new Tory leader, Pierre Poilievre, said that delegates can vote as they like, but he's the leader and willl go along with the liberals if that's what it takes to get elected.

Canadians should hope that, as Max Bernier said, common sense will prevail. But don't count on it.

Mass shooting in Canada's capital raises disturbing questions

It's a long weekend in the Great No-longer-white North, just as it is in the Excited States of America. The difference is that the Canucks spell the holiday "Labour Day" instead of "Labor Day". Normally nothing happens in Canada on a Labour Day weekend, but not this year.

The Ottawa police -- the heroes of the Freedom Convoy -- and the lickspittle media are trying out the best way to spin the news of a shooting at a wedding reception last night, which left two "Toronto men" (as Arnie would say) dead and injured six others. 

A spokesthingy for the cops police responded to reports of gunfire at about 2221 ["about"? Ed.] in Ottawa's s south end, near the airport outside a club where a wedding reception was being held. Initially the police would provide no information about the victims or suspects, except to say that there were no threats to public safety.

This afternoon, however, to quell certain rumors being spread about the gender preferences of the happy couple, they identified the deceased.

They are... or were... 26-year-old Said Mohamed Ali and 29-year-old Abdishakur Abdi-Dahir, both from Toronto. For some reason, nothing further was said about the ethnicity of the deceased, although we can pretty well figure that out. Same with their Religion of Peace. 

But what about their "gender identity"? Or their status in Canada? Were they, by any chance, homosexuals who were being united in a "gay marriage"? Perhaps they were "refugees" from Syria or Afghanistan or some other Islamic shithole, where homosexuality and the Sin of Fr James Martin are officially unacceptable or downright illegal. Just sayin'....

And the biggest question of all. What if the shooter turns out to be, not some rabid white supremacist, but a devout Muslim, one who is devoutly anti-gay? What would that do to the liberal narrative?

UPDATE ADDED 4/9/23: The Groan & Wail version of this story says the "Somali community" was involved. Lately there have been several "mostly peaceful" clashes between "refugees" from Somalia and Eritrea, and between two factions of the Eritrean community -- those who are opposed to the dictatorship and those who support the evil regime.

VIDEO: Freedom Convoy inquiry: testimony the liberal legacy media don't want Canadians to hear

I'm back, with thanks to all who have sent their good wishes. The result of the procedure was good and it looks as if I'll be able to continue ranting for some time yet.

I know our American readers will be waiting for me to say something about the mid-terms, and I will. But the Rouleau Commission hearings continuing in Ottawa this week are important not just to Canadian readers but for all concerned with protecting the freedoms of speech, assembly, and peaceful protest.

This week the Commission is hearing evidence from the Freedom Convoy organizers, the people Canuck Prime Minister Just In Trudeau called "a tiny minority with unacceptable views." Agent 3, who has been watching the live stream, writes:

Have you had a chance to see any of the Rouleau Commission hearings? If you're just seeing clips on the news, you're missing a lot of fun, because the lickspittle media are cherry-picking the clips that make the truckers look bad and make the feds look justified in invoking the Emergencies Act. But I've been watching them live, streaming online, and it's like a Saturday Night Live sketch. 

E.g., the characterization of Diagolon as a dangerous right-wing conspiracy. It was actually a joke started by a couple of guys in Alberta, and the feds took it seriously. The crowd in the hearing hall actually laughed out loud, and Rouleau threatened to clear the room, as he has done several times now. Pretty soon what was supposed to be an open hearing is going to be closed. Already they've decided that the CSIS [the Canuck equivalent of the CIA. Ed.] spies can testify in camera, so we won't be able to see their incompetence.

Ed. has searched the Net and has come up with hours of video. Links will appear below. Here's one clip -- not one seen on the legacy TV network newscasts, featuring Tamara Lich, the little lady from Saskatchewan who was arrested, denied bail twice by Liberal judges and finally released on appeal, and is still under house arrest awaiting trial. I found her testimony very calm and rational, and yet moving. 

 

I should have put "organizers" in quote marks. A thread common to the testimony of Ms Lich, James Bauder, Benjamin Dichter, Tom Marazzo, Chris Barber and the controversial Pat King, is that none of them knew more than two or three of the others and had divers motives for being involved in the Freedom Convoy.

There were a number of different groups and sub-groups, and no unifying command structure. No-one knew for sure what the others were doing or trying to do, the prime example of the disconnect being the so-called "Memorandum of Understanding" authored by James Bauder, which some of the leaders never saw and others regarded as "fake news".

Tamara Lich agreed with previous testimony that there were "power struggles" between groups involved in the Freedom Convoy, and felt like some were just looking for an opportunity for self-promotion, while others were more interested in getting their hands on some of the millions of dollars raised through GoFundMe and other sources. That was a problem for her as she was tasked with handling a lot of the money.

She said there were tensions between herself and Pat King, whom she described as “very controversial.” She confirmed she had a tense conversation with King about his involvement and that she’d both told him he should not come to Ottawa and to “check his ego” after he claimed he’d organized the convoy alone./

Ms Leach characterized the Ottawa protest as a "love fest" and said she had seen no evidence of the harassment and intimidation alleged by local residents, businesses and police.  about harassment and intimidation. "I can’t say I ever witnessed any of that."

She described herself as "concerned" about Mr King’s controversial rhetoric. Some months before the Ottawa demonstration, he said in a video circulating on social media that Prime Minister Trudeau might "catch a bullet". He also spoke of a the Great Replacement conspiracy to reduce people of Anglo-Saxon descent to a minority. Said Ms Lich, "I was getting messages and phone calls from a lot of people that were concerned that he was involved."

Another convoy organizer, Benjamin Dichter, a former Conservative candidate who Ms Lich described as "a friend", testified that he was frustrated by the decision-making, or lack thereof. He complained about a deal that some convoy members struck with the City of Ottawa to move vehicles out of residential areas and onto Wellington Street, in front of Parliament Hill. 

Mr Dichter said the deal was a bad idea and the people pushing it weren’t aligned with the protesters broader goals. "I think they were focused on ending the protests and getting everybody out of the city as quickly as possible," he said. Dichter. And he accused Keith Wilson, a lawyer who had represented the convoy, as being "Pat King in a suit."

The commission also heard from James Bauder, a self-described "tirbal person" [like Pauxcahontas? Ed.], who came to Jesus not long ago and felt that God had led him to organize not just this convoy but a "Beat Hug" convoy which had staged a protest in Ottawa some months previous.

Mr Bauder was the publisher of the controversial "Memorandum of Understanding", which he wrote himself in spite of being unfamiliar with legal terminology, Canada's government structures or Constitution. The MoU called for the Senate and the Governor General to work with a "citizens' commission" which would take over from the government. 

His proposal would have suspended all Covid-19 mandates and refunded any fines people had paid for breaching the Covid rules. Several other organizers testified that they didn't want anything to do with the memorandum. Mr Bauder said he stood by the document, but ultimately no one was willing to sign on. "It means nothing because nobody signed it. nobody entered into it."

The hearings continue this morning with cross-examination of Tamara Lich. If you want to see the drama [or farce? Ed.] play out, try the National Post website. Freedom Convoy: Will Trudeau be held to account?

You remember, eh, the Freedom Convoy, the peaceful -- not mostly peaceful, but totally peaceful, except for the actions of Trudeau's storm troopers -- protest which tied up Canuckistan's capital city in February, giving Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface what he thought was a good excuse to invoke the never-before-used Emergencies Act to crack down on Canadians' civil liberties.

The Emergencies Act includes a provision that requires a public inquiry, after the Act is used, to determine whether its use was justified. Sort of like: verdict first, trial later. Anyhoo, the inquiry finally got underway in Ennui-on-the-Rideau this week. It is to be known as the "Rouleau Commission" because the presiding judge, appointed by Mr Sock, is Paul Rouleau, a justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal for Ontario. 

Mr Justice Rouleau is a graduate of University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, and has previously served on the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Supreme Court of Yukon, the Nunavut Court of Justice, and the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories in 2017. 

Before getting these nice jobs, Mr Rouleau worked for the Liberal Party of Canada. In 1983, he was part of John Turner's campaign to take over the Liberal leadership (and thus become prime minister) when Emperor Trudeau I announced his retirement. Later, he had a hand in helping pick Mr Turner's cabinet, and is described as either his executive assistant or appointments secretary in various media reports from that era. Can you say "whitewash", boys and girls? I knew you could.

Now that he's a judge, Mr Rouleau is supposed to be apolitical, non-partisan, and open-minded. He accepted without hesitation the terms of reference for the mission: not merely to look into the government's actions and whether they were justified, but to investigate the behaviour and financing of the protesters. (Junior claimed that they were directed and financed by foreign extremists.) In his opening statement, Mr Justice Rouleau said, "Uncovering the truth is an important goal."

What is the truth? Depends on whether you're on the side of the self-righteous, liberal police state... or of freedom. The Freedom Convoy was appropriately named, standing up for freedom from oppression by the nanny state. The invocation of the Emergencies Act severely restricted the rights to freedom of expression, assembly and association.

In opening statements on Thursday, civil liberties groups, including the Canadian Constitution Foundation and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, noted the sweeping rights implications of the act.  The Emergency Economic Measures Order, made in pursuance of the act, chilled freedom of expression, by mandating banks to freeze bank accounts of those connected to the protests, without any warrant or notice to the account-holders.

Counsel for the Liberal government argued its view that Canada faced an "unprecedented and critical" situation in the face of ongoing protests and blockades, including threats of "ideologically motivated violence" and impact on Canada’s trade, international relationships, and reputation. Even as opening statements were being read, the Emperor [Prime Minister, shurely! Ed.], rather than saying that since the matter was before the court, or that he would be testifying later, was making his argument publicly in every "media availability".

"We knew from the very beginning," he told the CBC and the rest of the lickspittle media, "that invoking the Emergencies Act is a big step that had never been done before. But given these unprecedented illegal protests, we needed to take action. We took it in a way that was measured, that was responsible that was time limited."

Lawyers for the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, begged to differ, expressing disapproval of the federal government's failure to consult them before invoking the act. Yes, they were called, according to counsel for Saskatchewan, but "the call was not so much about consulting as it was about telling." Saskatchewan also opposed the financial measures, which required banks and other institutions to take significant steps with little guidance from the government.

Several provinces requested that the act's application be geographically limited, which it was not. Counsel for Alberta noted that the province was able to deal with the Coutts AB border blockades under existing laws, and that none of the powers under the Emergencies Act were necessary, or indeed invoked, in that province.

Counsel for the various police forces involved, and residents of Ottawa who say they were affected by the protest, backed up Mr Socks. The residents' lawyer called the protests "highly disruptive, even traumatizing", what with continual honk-honking throughout the night, loose jerry cans lying the streets, and "general disorder."

On Friday, the commission began hearing evidence from witnesses, starting with the Parade of the Snowflakes -- Ottawa residents whining about the supposed disruption of their lives. At the head of tyhe parade was a "legally blind" lady who entered the hall wearing sunglasses (and a mask, of course) and tapping her white cane. She said her condition had been worsened by the protest because she was afraid to go out, even to shop, for fear of being lost in the crowd.

A Chinese-Canadian lady said the noise of the air- and truck horns was so loud that she and her husband had to sleep in their car, in the basement of their condo. Even worse, she says she was bullied when she went into the street, and was told that she wasn't smiling under her mask!

Another Karen, a well-fed businesswoman, said she was afraid... very afraid. Why? "Because when I heard that the Ottawa police chief [Peter "Moves" Sloly] said he was afraid, I felt I should be afraid too." Seriously. 

Mr Sloly, a diversity hire, was a "victim" of the protest, losing his job a couple of weeks in, for failing to get tough with the freedom fighters. [Your bias is showing. Ed.] The new acting chief called in the Toronto Police "Service" mounted unit, who got the job done without trampling on more than one little old lady.

The Rouleau Commission is expected to hear fro as many of 65 potential witnesses, including Prime Minister McBlackface, as time will allow. Given that 20 different organizations have standing and will be allowed to cross-examine witnesses, the hearings could take more than a little while. 

However, the Commission's final report must, by law, be laid before Parliament by 20 February 2023. That wouldn't be a problem, though, for Mr Justice Rouleau if, as Walt suspects, his exoneration of Chief Walking Goose (Mr Trudeau's honorary Indian name) and all his minions has already been written by... ohhh... let's say Gerald Butts.

Angry Canucks hit the streets again; cowardly Conservatives MIA

Ed. tells me that at least one reader has demanded to know where I've been since Tuesday. He (the reader) accuses Ed. of having me drawn and quartered, then burying me in the backyard, under the blanket of creeping charlie. Terrible stuff that. If you stand still for more than five seconds it'll curl around your shoes and pull you down.

The accusation is baseless, of course. Ed. doesn't have a horse, let alone the four required for a proper quartering. In fact Ed. hates horses, because they're smarter than he is. Smarter, in fact, than most humans and all animals except maybe pigs. And there's some debate about that.

Pigs are very smart. Did you know that pigs can be trained to shit in one corner of their pen and to push, with their snouts, a button which flushes the excreta into a trough? I have seen it with mine own eyes, at the Central Experimental in Ottawa, Canada.

Which brings me to the reason for my absence. I was preparing to be part of the latest iteration of February's Freedom Convoy, which saw 100s of truckers and other fed-up Canadians take to the streets of the world's second-coldest capital to protest against vaccine mandates, Just In Trudeau, censorship, Trudeau, the lickspittle media, Trudeau, Covid lockdowns, Trudeau, inflation, and... You get the picture.

The new rally for freedom, unfolding right now, has been dubbed "Rolling Thunder", and I thought I would fit right in, since Mrs Walt says rolling thunder is the noise I make when we play "Dutch Oven" in bed on cold winter nights. Turns out the new protest is being led, not by truckers but by bikers! So it seemed you needed a motorcycle to participate, and I won't get on one of those things since Dave (an old buddy of Agent 6 and my goodself) got seriously injured when his bike jumped on top of him.

So I didn't go, and spent last night in the company of Poor Len Canayen, watching the final game of the Montréal Canadiens' season, about which he will write later this weekend. While we were crying in our beer (Molson, of curse), Rolling Thunder started rolling. Many of the demonstrators were also part of the Freedom Convoy. 

The protest started relatively calmly on Parliament Hill, but as night fell a line of big rigs, campers and other trucks made their way into the city core. Protesters gathered around the trucks, and police in tactical gear formed a line and faced them down. Police said in a release that seven people were arrested on various charges, including assaulting police, and 24 vehicles were towed. At least one truck also had its windows broken.

Rolling Thunder protest is expected to continue today Saturday) with the convoy of hundreds of motorcycles moves through downtown Ottawa, with a stop at the National War Memorial, before moving to Parliament Hill for another rally.

I'll be waiting to see whether any of the candidates for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada (yes, the "help wanted" sign is in the window again) shows up to support or at least talk with the protesters. When the Freedom Convoy hit Ottawa in February, Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface went to ground at a cottage somewhere in the Laurentians. Then Tory leader Erin O'Tool was said to have met with some of truckers at an undisclosed location out of sight of cameras.

"Mad Max" Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, mingled with the truckers and made supportive noises, but he's just a conservative with a small C. The only big-C Conservative who did likewas was Pierre Poilievre, now the front-runner in the race to succeed Mr O'Tool. [You're out of space. Come back later. Ed.]

Walt is watching and waiting

My apologies, dear reader, for not posting too much this week. Big Things have been happening, or are expected to happen, and I thought I'd wait until events have fully eventuated. The Big Thing that has yet to happen is the Russian invasion of Ukraine. President Brandon says he knows that Putin has made up his mind to invade. 

Well, duh! That was obvious eight years ago when Russian armed forces occupied the Crimea! The question is when they will move across the border, where over 100,000 are presently massed. Sleepy Joe says it could be "within days", or possibly "within weeks". Like the street-corner preachers prophesying the end of the world, President Demented can't give an exact date. 

When and if Russia tries to take Ukraine back into its empire, you know where we at WWW will stand. When the balloon goes up, will the Paranoid States of America do anything other than more tut-tutting? This week the Canucks withdrew their military personnel -- all 200 or so -- to Poland, in case the Russkis attack the Polacks first. Don't bet on them, or any other members of NATO, actually sending their sons/daughters/whatever into battle. Lifetime pct .980.

Meanwhile, in Canuckistan itself, the House of Commons is debating whether Emperor Trudeau was right to invoke (for the first time in history) the Emergency Measures Act of 1988, to quell the "insurrection" (read: Freedom Convoy and similar demonstrations) mounted by a "small fringe minority" in the world's second-coldest capital.

Like all third world dictators, Mr Socks and his henchmen (and henchwomen -- Canada's "Diplomat of the Year" 2018), didn't wait for Parliament's approval of the use of the Act. In fact the debate scheduled for Friday was cancelled, so MPs wouldn't be in harm's way when the Mounties moved in to trample old women and children. Just like that scene from Doctror Zhivago. Who would have thought anything like this could ever happen in the Not-so-great Not-so-white North?

I watched part of the debate in the House of Commons on Thursday. The governing Liberals contributed further demonization of the protesters by repeating the bullshit about "swastika flags", "Confederate flags" and "other symbols of hate". 

I have watched hours of video and never saw a Nazi flag. There was one Confederate flag, with an image of a big rig across the centre, and it was being carried (it turned out) by an agent provocateur, antifa type. 

As for other symbols of hate, they must be referring to the "Fuck Trudeau!" flags. I certainly did see lots of those! 

After yesterday's see-no-evil recess, the debate -- if the word includes hurling insults across the floor -- resumes today, and continues until everybody gets tired or 2359 EST Sunday, whichever comes firs. A vote is scheduled for Monday night, by which time (the Gliberals hope) everyone will have gone home. "Nothing to see here, folks."

The other use of the Emergency Measures Act which raises serious moral and legal questions is the federal government's seizure of the trucks and other property of the protesters, as well as the bank accounts of anyone -- including foreigners who use Canadian banks -- who donated to the support of the Freedom Convoy. 

That amounts to the theft -- no other word will do -- of millions of dollars contributed by lovers of freedom in Canuckistan and the USA. The excuse given by the fragrant Finance Minister, Chrystia Freeland (see "Diplomat of the Year") is that "foreigners" must not be allowed to "interfere" with Canada's "democracy". 

Walt asks, what kind of democracy, what kind of rule of law is it when you can start enforcing measures that have not yet been approved by Parliament? Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. "Verdict first! Trial later!" Think about it! If they seize (steal!) your money because you hold "unacceptable views", they can stop you from donating to any organization with which they disagree, including churches and charities as well as political parties. That can't be right!

So, always, Walt will be waiting and watching, and will say more if, as and when. 

Meanwhile, I can't resist passing on this Dilbert strip, from a couple of days ago. 

Do any of you use the self-service checkouts? (Bill Burr did a funny riff on this subject some years ago, and we'll put it up if Ed. can find it.) I refuse to use them, as a matter of principle. Those things are putting lower-echelon people out of jobs! Besides, I like dealing with a human cashier, so if there's a problem I have someone's neck to put my hands around.

Trudeau to establish special court for Canuck protesters

Note from Ed.: Our legal beagle has just sent in the following report, of so startling a nature that we are posting it immediately, without receiving independent confirmation. Corrections may follow. Or not. As the case may be.

Blackie McBlackface, Prime Minister of All Canuckistan, and "Public Safety" Minister Marco Mendacious are about to announce that in light of the failure of the police and provincial courts to deal effectively (read: convict) with the freedom-loving truckers protesting in Ottawa and elsewhere, they will establish a new federal court, to be known as the Court of the Red Star Chamber.

Although the new court will not be bound by the niceties of the Criminal Code or common law, it will not able to impose the death penalty. However, it will have the power to employ "enhanced interrogation" (read: torture) to deal quickly and efficiently with anyone expressing (or even holding) unacceptable (read: anti-liberal) views.

The first two judges nominated by Mr Socks are the Hon. William Blair, Chief of the Toronto Police "Service" at the time of the G20 riots and currently unemployed (read: out of his depth as Minister of Emergency Preparedness), and Peter "Moves" Sloly, Chief of the Ottawa Police until his resignation on Monday.

It is expected that the new court will leap into inaction later today, in order to gain the advantage of surprise. Said Judge Blair, "Nobody expects the Red Star Chamber!"

The United States Department of Justice (sic) is said to be following this interesting development closely.

Speaking of the kind of thing depicted in the last half of the video, the Canadian Broadcorping Castration has reported this morning that Mr Socks is getting ready to invoke the Emergencies Act, under which the army could be called in to "deal with" the freedom protesters. 

Walt asks what the army could do that the police can't... or won't? Just as in the Excited States of America, Canada's militarized cops already have artillery, armored vehicles and all that neat stuff. The Windsor ON police used a tiny tank yesterday to clear the Ambassador Bridge. So why not leave "law enforcement" to them?

Oh... wait... CTV reports today that Ontario Provincial Police have launched an internal investigation into the conduct of an officer after a video taken during a traffic stop surfaced on social media where he appears to voice his support to the ongoing convoy protest in Ottawa. 

In the video (which CTV didn't see fit to repost), an officer is seen talking to the occupants of a vehicle he had pulled over. At one point in the video, the officer is heard saying, "I get what you guys are doing. I support you guys 100 per cent."

VIDEO: True Facts about Canada's Freedom Convoy

Walt realizes that for the last couple of weeks our posts have been almost exclusively devoted to reporting and commenting on the Canadian truckers' Freedom Convoy, now in its second week of making hard the ways of Canada's politician transgressors (Hello, Mr Socks!). 

Dear readers, this is important. This protest against Covid totalitarianism, which is taking away the freedoms which we have taken for granted, is making news all over the world. And the fact that Canadians -- the most obedient, sheep-like people on earth -- have actually taken to the streets against their arrogant, elitist masters has informed similar protests now springing up in other countries, as far away as New Zealand!

But the evil empire of George Soros, Klaus Schwab, "Pope Francis" and all the Karens of Canada and the Disunited States is fighting back, to save the Great Reset from being consigned to the dustbin of history. [Nice phrase. Did you make it up? Ed.] 

Their controlled media are pumping out lies, lies and more lies, 24/7, trying to tell you that the protesters are funded and controlled by "foreign agents", including Qanon and American white supremacist groups. 

They tell us that "symbols of hate", like Confederate and Nazi flags, have been seen amidst the 1000s of Maple Leaf flags flown by the protesters. For the record, I've watched hours of footage of the protests, and have seen just one (1) Confederate flag, carried by someone who was outed as a leftist provocateur. I've seen one (1) Gadsden flag -- "Don't Tread On Me" -- which I always understood symbolized resistance to the tyranny of the government of King George III. I have seen no (0) swastika flags. 

So I think this is a good time to present an in-depth review of what's happened, and is still happening in Ottawa and other cities across Canuckistan. Here's a video by John-Henry Westen, of LifeSite News, which tells the truth you won't find in the lickspittle media.

Once again, Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper, has created a video that was immediately banned by YouTube, for "violating community guidelines". Fortunately, the latest episode of Remnant Underground, titled "Freedom, eh? Canada Leads the World",  is available on Remnant TV. With tongue stuck firmly in cheek, Mr Matt asks for your help in figuring out what it was that got him censored (again) by the leftie social media giant.

YouTube says he was "violating World Health Organization guidelines on social distancing and self-isolation." See if you can figure out which part of the video they're referring to. Was it:

* the clip of Justin Trudeau's brother exposing the Mr Socks as a globalist stooge of Davos? 

* his full-throated support of the Canadian truckers' Freedom Convoy, now in its second week of peaceful protest in Ottawa?

* his attack on Jorge Bergoglio, the man who calls himself Pope Francis?

* his interview with Father John Echert, the Parking Lot Priest?

"Nationwide insurrection!"? In Canada, you say? Really?

Ottawa police chief Peter "Moves" Sloly told his bosses, the Ottawa Police Services Board, that his "resources" are inadequate to evict the Freedom Convoy protesters now in their second week of peaceful demonstrations in the world's second-coldest capital.

Responding to pointed questions from the Board chairthingy, the diversity hire said, "As I look at the definition of adequate and effective policing, there is literally nothing in that definition of adequate and effective policing that could resolve a city under siege, that is a democracy threatened by a nationwide insurrection driven by madness." 

Wait a second. Did Chief Sloly really use the words "nationwide insurrection"?! Yes he did! Let's deconstruct that phrase. We'll ignore the incorrect use of "nation" -- in today's political orthodoxy, Canada comprises at least three "nations" -- and agree that the protests are indeed countrywide. 1000s of truckers, farmers and their supporters gathered yesterday in major cities across Canada, including Vancouver, and provincial capitals Québec, Toronto, Regina, Winnipeg, and smaller centres across Canuckistan. 

But is this photo, taken in Québec City yesterday, a scene from an "insurrection"? Look closely and you will see at least two of the green, white and red Drapeaux des Patriotes (Patriot Flags), featuring Le Vieux de `37. The old man (le vieux) is a depiction of a freedom fighter from the short-lived rebellion of 1837 in which Québécois patriots rose up against the English government of what was then called Lower Canada. There was a similar protest in York (now Toronto) against the Anglican "Family Compact".

What were those "rebels" fighting for? They were not anti-vaxxers! Yet Canada's lickspittle media are now pushing the Liberal Party line that today's protesters are just luddites and science-deniers who don't want to take their jabs. No. The patriots of yesteryear were fighting for freedom, just like those of today. 

Note the word "liberté", on the placard front and centre. That's "liberté" as in "liberté, égalité, fraternité" -- "liberty, equality, brotherhood". That's what this "insurrection" is all about, just as People's Party leader Maxime Bernier told the Ottawa protesters a couple of days ago. That and "Fuck Trudeau!"

Still, "insurrection" is a pretty strong word. The usual definition is: a violent uprising against an authority or government. The only report of physical violence reported so far was in Winnipeg yesterday when someone -- an agent provocateur planted by the authorities? -- drove an SUV into a crowd of protesters. That's it. The protests themselves have been not just "mostly peaceful", but totally peaceful.

The word "insurrection" also suggests organization and leadership, such as that shown at York by the firebrand William Lyon Mackenzie (grandfather of a future prime minister) and in Montréal by Louis-Joseph Papineau, whose name is now that of a Montréal Metro station and a federal electoral district. So far, no such leader has emerged from the throng of freedom fighters. The demonstrations appear to be genuinely spontaneous.

The liberal politicians and media are clutching their pearls and moaning about incipient "Trumpism" and the "death of democracy" in Canada. Some Canadians may wish it so, but we must be careful not to read too much into the present popular discontent. 

History buffs see parallels with the 1980s demonstrations which sparked the downfall of the Communist régimes of Poland, East Germany, Romania etc. But most Canadians are not yet ready to hunt down their near-Communist prime minister (still hiding in an "undisclosed location") and hang him by his heels. Won't happen today... because it's Sunday, and nothing happens on Sunday in Canada. But stay tuned.

The lickspittle Canuck media have been trying to give the impression that the Ottawa protest is fizzling out. Not true! (Are ya surprised?) Two items to note:

Emperor Trudeau II said yesterday that he would not order the use of troops to supress the protest... unless of course the province of Ontario or the City of Ottawa absolutely demanded it. The truth is that he is afraid to order the army to attack the protesters, for fear that the soldiers won't obey.

The Ottawa police have been imploring towing companies for miles around to help them by hooking up the "illegal parked" trucks, but have found no-one willing to do so. The truth is that the tow truck drivers are virtually unanimous in support of the Freedom Rally.

And one more thing. [No reference to Vince Offer? Ed.] As I write, I am hearing reports that 100s of trucks and tractors are encircling Toronto's Queen's Park, the pink palace which is the seat of the Ontario government. That's right... tractors! Big John Deeres! Driven by fed-up farmers. Should be an interesting weekend in Toronto the Not-so-good.

The Canuck truckers' occupation of downtown Ottawa in the name of freedom continues. Dr Jordan Peterson -- one of those "old stock Canadians" that Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface hates -- recorded this brief message to provincial premiers Premiers Jason Kenney, Scott Moe and Doug Ford, as well as Erin O'Toole, leader of the pseudo-conservative party. Mr Peterson says, "What are you waiting for? This is your moment. Seize the day!"

 

Footnote: The Canadian lickspittle media are not sure, today, whether to be mad or glad that 35 Cuckservative Members of Parliament have filed a petition demanding a caucus vote on Mr O'Tool's "leadership". The Notional Pest quotes him as saying, "I'm not going anywhere!" Ain't that the truth!

The vote could be held as early as the morning of tomorrow -- Groundhog Day. If Mr O'Tool sees his shadow, he is obliged to resign, triggering yet another leadership convention. Rumours that Maxime Bernier will present himself as a candidate are totally unfounded.

As sun rises over the Shadow Laurier [Ed., please check spelling], tens of thousands of Canadian truckers and their supporters are still thronging downtown Ottawa, demanding freedom from control by the nanny state. 

So far the demonstration has been peaceful. The most the state-owned CBC could find to say against it was that (gasp!!!) a Confederate flag was seen! 

Support, both moral and financial, has been pouring in from outside the borders of the Great No-longer-white North. In this special edition of "The Remnant Underground", Michael Matt puts the massive rally for freedom into context, as it becomes a worldwide symbol of freedom and lockdown fatigue.

As the Prime Minister of Denmark takes a page out of Boris Johnson's playbook and lifts all mandates in that country, Mr Matt talks about the possibility that the globalist narrative is running out of diesel fuel. And if that happens, The Great Reset is DOA. 

Near the end of this episode, you'll see a touching montage of Canadian children thanking the truckers for standing for them, which more or less says it all. This protest really is "for the children", so let those truckers roll! 10-4!

The protesters don't look like "fascists" to me. They do look cold, though. Well, maybe not the blonde in the bikini top!

   

Seems the Mounties are taking the "Fuck Trudeau" signs seriously. It is reported that Mr Socks and his family have been moved from Rideau Cottage to an undisclosed location, for their safety. 

Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, is there. "Where," he asks, "is 'Conservative' leader O'Tool? He should be with the people!"
