Lovers of freedom and liberty rightly condemn The People's Republic [sic] of China abuses of human rights such as the Tiananmen Square massacre. Such abuses continue today, particularly in Xinjiang and Tibet. China doesn't tolerate mass protests any more. Is that so wrong? 

Agent 78 returned recently from a lengthy trip through China. She reports that there no demonstrations or protests like those currently to be seen in just about every Western country, where students, professional malcontents and foreign agitators are in the streets in support of Hamas terrorists,gay "rights", trans "rights",BLM,safe injection sites, yada yada yada. The list of things these scum are in favour of... or fighting against... is a long one, laden with bullshit.

Agent 78 reports that China has no such protests. There are many other things that China doesn't have: 

• massive encampments of the "unhoused" (read: homeless) 
• parks and schoolgrounds littered with needles and other drug paraphernalia
• media which promote and glorify perversion and decadence 
• daily reports of gun violence, looting (read: "reparations shopping"), and mayhem
• houses that cost 50 or 100 times what an average worker can afford
• masses of illigal immigrants swarming through open borders             

and the list goes on. Western society is falling apart. Look around your town or city, dear reader, and ask yourself if a little less "human rights" and a little more law and order wouldn't make things better. Any party or any politician who makes a credible promise [Is there such a thing? Ed.] to clean things up has my vote! MAGA!

Judge Judy blames liberal prosecutors for skyrocketing crime rate

The following is an edited version of an article published by the (UK) Daily Mail. 

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Judge Judy (Sheindlin) blamed liberal district attorneys for leaving America's cities "ruined", and said they would be better employed "filling ice-cream cones."

The veteran reality TV star, known for making rough the path of the wicked, said the country is in worse shape than it was when her popular programme started 30 years ago because "a small group of people who have very loud voices created a scenario where bad people got rewarded."

And she lashed out at a culture that increasingly excuses people's behaviour on the basis of their background. "I know how we got here," she said. "When society started to make excuses for bad behaviour, and react to criminality based upon the excuses, it fell apart."

Judge Judy spoke out after Multnomah County (OR) DA Mike Schmidt became the latest liberal prosecutor elected in the wake of the Black Lives Matter scam to lose his bid for re-election. "When you have district attorneys who are charged, whose job it is to do justice, but to keep the community safe, when you have elected district attorneys who don't know what their job is, they should go find another job," said the judge. "'Fill ice cream cones someplace, but don't ruin cities."

She added, "And what's happened around New York City, Portland, San Francisco, you had district attorneys who didn't know what their job was. And the cities are ruined, people are leaving."

So far this year, robberies are up 5.2% in the Big Apple, while recorded hate crimes have jumped 11% per cent. In Portland, larceny offenses jumped to more than 26,000 in the year to April, while arrests for prostitution more than doubled amid an ongoing drugs and homelessness crisis. 

Meanwhile, in the District of Columia, homicides jumped by 35% while robberies were up 67%. In San Francisco, DA Chesa Boudin lost his job in a 2022 recall election after securing just three -- count `em, 3 -- drug convictions the previous year.

Judge Sheindlin lashed out at the state of New York's 2019 decision to raise the minimum age at which a suspect can be tried as an adult to 18, branding it "ridiculous... If you have family, if you have a mother who's 65 years old who's walking to the grocery store and some crazy for no reason hits her over the head with a steel pipe and kills her, and they're 17, that person should never be allowed to walk the street again, because society can't take a chance.

"If I wouldn't take a chance on him living next to me why would I take a chance on him living next to you? You're just as dead as somebody 18 kills you, or 17. And if you're 17 years old and kill somebody, you don't belong with kids who are 12, in a juvenile facility. But a very small group of people pushed through in New York State, for instance, raising the level of criminal responsibility."

The explanations for why a person becomes a criminal should never be confused with excuses, she said. "You know there is always a reason for criminal behaviour. 

"Didn't have a good upbringing, didn't have two parents in the house, didn't have one parent in the house, there's always a reason. You're mentally ill. That's a reason. You took drugs, that's a reason. You took alcohol, your brain is fried, whatever it is. There is never an excuse for bad behaviour."

Judge Judy also reflected on how the situation has deteriorated since she began her TV career. "Here we are, 30 years later, and are we in a worse shape as a country, as a world, than we were in 1993? You bet your bottom we are. I think we better get smarter before we get lost," she added. "Permanently lost."

Protests in Memphis over white supremacist murder of Tyre Nichols

On January 7th, police in Memphis TN stopped 29-year-old Tyre Nichols on suspicion of DWB (Driving While Black). A struggle ensued as they dragged Mr Nichols out of his car. He managed to free himself from the clutches of the law, only to be cornered a few minutes and a few blocks from the scene.

The minions then beat the living snot out of Mr Nichols, who died three days later in hospital. 

This week, five of the arresting officers were charged with murder, and last night the authorities released graphic videos showing what happened. Memphis and other cities across the Excited States of America braced for another round of BLM protests and "reparations shopping".

On cue, Ben Crump, successor to "Rev." Al Sharpton in leading charges for justice for (fill in name of deceased black person), appeared in front of the cameras to call for calm. Whether he winked as he did so isn't clear, but it appears that last night's protest marches were indeed "mostly peaceful".

Since the five accused cops are just as black as Mr Nichols, the bleeding heart liberals and lickspittle media (Hello! Clinton News Network) had to twist themselves into pretzels to paint the killing as yet another example of anti-black racism. Here are two theories which have been advanced, with straight faces, by "journalists" in the "legacy media".

1. The speed with which charges were laid against the dusky-hued officers by white prosecutors proves the point. If the cops had been white (they argue) there would have been a long delay while white authorities sought excuses to lay lesser charges or no charges at all. They rush to judgment only against blacks.

2.  Although the policemen involved were all visibly black, they were in fact "oreo cookies" -- black on the outside but white on the inside. When they joined the police force they were imbued with the white supremacist culture of the police, and that's what made them turn on a brother. Geddit? Give a black man a uniform and a badge and he turns white!

Expect variations on that theme to be aired 24/7 for the next week or so, particularly if the mostly peaceful protests degenerate into the customary rioting and looting. Lifetime pct .987.

Trudeau to run for US Congress?

Nooooo.... It wasn't the gang at the Babylon Bee that made this up, but the normally serious editorial board of the The Wall Street Journal, who this week ran a similar headline, without the question mark. A subhead added "The Canadian Prime Minister can’t get enough of U.S. politics."

Seriously? You bet! The Emperor of Canuckistan just loves getting up on his hind feet and preaching about the issues of the day... as long as they're American issues!  If it's something Canadians care about -- health care, immigration, the price of gas -- M Trudeau is not interested. Ho-hum. 

Case in point: On Sunday he made a special trip to London ON (flying for 45 minutes in a government jet, of course) to bang the drums against Islamophobia, on the first anniversary of the vehicular homicide of a Muslim family. An atrocious crime, to be sure, but were "millions upon millions" of Canadians grieving, as Mr Socks said? Noooo. The truth is that the vast majority of Canadians don't give even half a shit about Islamophobia.

The WSJ says, Mr Socks' pissing and moaning about this and other "issues" largely irrelevant to Canadians don't make any sense unless one considers the Liberals' desire to score points with an American audience, "or a Canadian audience who watches too much CNN."

Another example: Pretending that abortion "rights" are under threat in Canada. Fact is, there are no laws, federal or provincial, regarding the killing of unborn babies. No term limits, no restrictions of any kind. In Canada, it's abortion on demand. And the issue is not even debatable. Even Canada's so-called Conservative Party has made it clear that they will never introduce legislation to disrupt the status quo.

Another non-issue that has preoccupied Blackie McBlackface since the Buffalo massacre is gun control. He seems to think that more bans on guns in Canada will somehow stop mass shootings like the one in Uvalde TX, a mere 2000 miles or so from the World's Longest Undefended Border.

So he's decided to "freeze" the sale or transfer of handguns. The Uvalde shooting was committed with a long gun, but that doesn't matter. Neither does the fact that Canadian laws don't apply in Texas. Or the fact that Canada already has laws that effectively prohibit the legal purchase of handguns by almost everyone. The handguns used in the admittedly growing number of shootings in Canada are mostly smuggled in from the US of A and used by gangstas who are similarly smuggled in from other places.

Put those two concerns together, add in a couple of others (such as immigration), and you get Junior's unrelenting importation of American race and culture wars. As anyone who's lived outside the Ottawa bubble knows, the principal Canadian racial divide is the one between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians. Indigenous Canadians earn significantly less, their average life expectancy is 15 years earlier and they're disproportionately the victims of unmistakably racist attacks.

Yet M Trudeau, once insensitive to anti-black racism to the point of wearing blackface at costume parties, now thinks feels that combating such racism is more important than addressing the grievances of Canada's "First Nations". Here he is, "taking a knee" for 9 minutes at a Black Lives Matter protest over the shooting of the drug-addled felon George Floyd.

That was during the summer of 2020, when Black Lives Matter protests and (let's call a spade a spade) race riots roiled the USA. Since then, Mr Socks' government has repeatedly framed Canadian race relations as being inflected by the legacies of slavery and segregation, although African slavery in Canada ended 40 years earlier than in the USA.

The Liberals have introduced into the Canuck snivel service "anti-racism training" that mentions slavery more often than Indian Residential Schools. Emperor Trudeau also never fails to weep crocodile tears in response to every major American racial incident, while overlooking any number of Canadian equivalents. 

Which bring us to Liberals' latest wheeze: doing someething about an over-incarceration problem that doesn't exist. "Sentencing reform" is a big issue in the USA for the singular reason that America has more prisoners (as a percentage of the total population) than any other country. But, according to the World Prison Brief, Canada is actually near the bottom of the league table when it comes to incarceration rates, ranking 143rd in terms of its per capita rate of people in jail.

It's true that jails and prisons in western provinces are full of Indigenous people, and those in Ontario are full of black people, but there's a reason for that. As anyone who watches the nightly news on TV stations in Winnipeg and Toronto, it's because the majority of both perpetrators and victims of violent crime are POCs (persons of colour). 

Nevertheless, the Trudeau government has jumped on the American sentencing reform bandwagon with Bill C-5, which would drop mandatory minimum sentences for a host of violent crimes, including robbery with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, and extortion with a firearm. And speaking of gun smuggling (see above), C-5 would also reduce sentencing for six charges related to weapons trafficking. 

Speaking (again) of smuggling, how about Junior's allowing in 60,000 illegal border crossers (for that's what they are!) to spite President Trump! The WSJ says Canada has never really faced a major migrant crises along its southern border. In 2017, 1000s of "refugees" and "asylum-seekers" began coursing through what Ottawa would come to call "irregular" border crossings, notably the one at Roxham Road near St-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC.

The crossings emerged entirely to bypass the Safe Third Country Agreement, under which refugee claimants at the US-Canadian border are turned away on the grounds that they’re already in a safe country. The influx neatly coincided with a tweet from Mr Socks, just after President Trump was sworn in, which read "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith."

Did you catch that last phrase? That means "Muslims welcome!", which brings us back to where we started [and about time, too. Ed.] That tweet is easily the most-shared thing that Junior ever posted to the internet, and it was a direct response to President Trump's executive order barring entry to the USA by nationals of seven predominantly Muslim nations.

America's liberal media -- that's most of them! -- heaped praise on M Trudeau's head, and the Canadian media followed suit. Meanwhile, the back door opened wide for 1000s of inadmissible foreigners, who travelled to the USA on visitor visas for the express purpose of entering Canada illegally. 

It hasn't been closed since, in spite of the election (?) of a new pro-Muslim president who quickly reversed the "anti-Muslim" executive order. "Terrorists don't need to go to Canada. You can stay right here in the USA. Don't forget to register as a Democrat!"

Did you catch the hint, two paragraphs above, that I'm out of space? There's only one way to wrap this up.

Coming soon to YOUR city -- a summer of rage!

There are three big news stories this weekend, all related. Just the facts, first, and I'll tie them all together at the end.

Item: Yesterday, in a predominantly black neighbourhood of Buffalo NY, an 18-year-old gunman wearing tactical gear opened fire in a busy supermarket, killing ten people (at last count) and wounding three others. The shooter, now in police custody, was identified as Payton Gendron, of Conklin NY, a town some 200 miles SE of Buffalo. 

Mr Gendron is white, and was immediately labelled as a "white supremacist" by New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochula, who hates white supremacists. "It strikes us in our very hearts to know that there's such evil that lurks out there," she said. "This individual – this white supremacist – who just perpetrated a hate crime on an innocent community, will spend the rest of his days behind bars. And heaven help him in the next world as well."

Item: In Milwaukee WI, 21 people were injured in three separate shootings, in an entertainment district where 1000s had been watching the Bucks lose to the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals.

Three people were shot near the Deer District outside Fiserv Forum toward the end of Friday night's game, sending fans fleeing through the streets. One person was injured in a second shooting before a third shooting less than a mile from the arena left 17 people with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man and a 16-year-old girl who were injured in the first shooting were transported to a local hospital Friday night, while a third person drove there, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department. All three have non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police said a 19-year-old man was in custody from the first shooting and that charges were pending a review by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office. No arrest has been made in the second shooting. Ten people were taken into custody and nine firearms were recovered from the third shooting, according to police, which described the incident as an exchange of gunfire between two groups of people.

Nothing has been said about the race of anyone involved in these incidents -- not the victims, not the suspects, not the arrested man, and certainly not the "groups of people". Can the police and politicians of Democrat-controled Milwaukee not say "gangs" or "black"?

Item: While other events were unfolding in Buffalo and Milwaukee, 1000s of people -- mostly angry white women, to judge by the photos and video clips -- took part in "mostly peaceful protests" across the Excited States of America to decry the Supreme Court's expected reversal of Roe v. Wade.

Organizers -- these were not spontaneous events -- said there were more than 380 protests in cities from coast to coast, including Democrat-controlled Washington DC, New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. Those cities, especially Mayor Lori Lightfoot's Chicago, are not known as havens of peace and tranquility, but signalling to "organizers" (read: Rise Up, Antifa, BLM et al.) that they can take to the streets without fear of prosecution is "not helpful".

Earlier last week, Mayor Lightfoot had to defend herself against backlash after she tweeted that the draft SCOTUS opinion in Hobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization was a "call to arms" [not "firearms", shurely! Ed.] for those in the LGBTQ2S+ etc etc community. 

Conservative figures, including Rep. Lauren Boebert, (R-CO) and Fox News' Laura Ingraham, accused Ms Lightfoot of seeking to incite violence when she tweeted on Monday, "To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community -- the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms." Ms Boebert told Sean Hannity on Wednesday, "If anyone in America is an insurrectionist, it's little Lori."

Last Thursday, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) wrote to the Justice Department. Citing Ms Lightfoot's tweet, condemned a coordinated campaign of intimidation and threats to the SCOTUS justices. "The comments made by the president's staff and members of the Democratic Party threaten the safety of members of the Court," he said.

Indeed. Not to mention the safety and security of people who live in cities such as Buffalo, Milwaukee, and Chicago, and just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when "mostly peaceful protests" turn violent, or when mindless or insane violence breaks out on its own. If you live in a big American city -- a Democrat-controlled city -- take care.

AFTERTHOUGHT, added at 1810 - Apparently I didn't make clear the connection between the first item (the Buffalo mass murder) and my prediction of a summer of rage. I have been told [already! Ed.] that I'm making the same point as crazy Nancy Pelosi and the rest, that "white supremacists" are responsible for all the rage and hatred afflicting America today. Not so.  

What I predict... and it's started already... is that the SJWs and other usual suspects will be baying for the blood of the possibly demented kid who shot up the Tops supermarket, and for all whites guilty of being white. Signs reading "No justice, no peace!" have already appeared, the cries for vengeance are loud in the land. Except for Milwaukee of course because, well, see the second item. 

If I were white and had the misfortune to be living or doing business in Conklin NY, or even Buffalo, I'd be boarding up the windows and starving the hounds. The sound you hear tomorrow and in the coming weeks will be that of the BLM shithammer striking!

Triple-vaccinated Trudeau comes down with Covid... or something

Today, through the magic of video and the Internet, the Rt. Hon. Blackie McBlackface, Prime Minister of Canuckistan, addressesd the nation. He explained the sceptical Canadians that he is "self-isolating" at an undisclosed location because he has come down with the Wuhan flu. This in spite of having had three (3) shots of Dr Death's Anti-Covid Elixir.

  

Nothing to do (he added) with being afraid to face down the 1000s of truckers and their supporters still waiting in the cold on Parliament Hill and downtown Ottawa. On being asked if he would go and listen to them when he's feeling better, Mr Socks said he only meets with peaceful protesters with whom he agrees. Like BLM. Not those "people with tinfoil hats."

UPDATED: Waukesha WI: accident or "incident"?

Walt was dismayed, yesterday afternoon. to hear of an "incident" which occurred at a "holiday parade" in Waukesha WI. A red SUV roared down the parade route, hurling bodies of marchers and spectators into the air. The death toll, at midnight CST, stood at 5 killed and over 40 injured.

Waukesha police have the vehicle, and they have a "person of interest" in custody. They have so far refused to identify the "person". Here's a report from Fox News.

You heard the police officer. A "person of interest" = a suspect, more or less. Yet we are given no name. No address. No "known to police" or otherwise. Similarly, no race or ethnicity. No immigration status. 

Likewise, no comment on a possible motive for the "incident", which word I've chosen since it certainly doesn't look like an accident! Walt notes that in woke America, such parades are increasingly known as "holiday parades", rather than "Thanksgiving Day parades" or "Christmas parades", so that no offence will be given to people who don't share our Christian/Western values. 

What kind of people (I hear you ask) could possibly be opposed to celebrations of Thanksgiving or Christmas? [Due to a shortage of space, we are obliged to end this article at this point. Ed.]

UPDATE ADDED at 0800: Four senior law enforcement officials told AP that a person of interest who may have a significant criminal history was being questioned overnight. He has been identified as Darrell Brooks, age 39, and yes, we do have a photo. 

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the driver of the red SUV had been fleeing an earlier incident involving a knife fight. Waukesha is more than 50 miles from Kenosha, so... nothing to do with the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal or BLM or anything like that. That's OK then.

UPDATE ADDED at 0900: Well guess what? Turns out Mr Brooks is an aspiring rap artist. Check this out!

The person who found this on YouTube points out that they removed the original "music" video,  featuring "BLM Terrorist Darrell E. Brooks." Seems his Facebook posts about killing white people are still floating around in cyberspace.

UPDATED: Feds mull "civil rights" charges after Rittenhouse acquittal

A Wisconsin jury has acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse on all charges arising from the killing of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and the wounding of Gaige Grosskreutz during a "mostly peaceful protest" in Kenosha WI in August of 2020. 

The "protests" erupted after a white police officer shot a black man. The now-customary riots, vandalism and looting ensured, prompting an online call for armed patriots to come to the city to protect lives and property. 

Mr Rittenhouse, who answered the call, is white. The three people he shot were/are also white. Nevertheless, this being America, you can expect further rioting, vandalism, looting ["reparations shopping", shurely. Ed.] and general mayhem. not just in Kenosha but across the country, in the name of "justice" for those who were shot. Businesses are already boarding up their windows. 

I'm happy for Mr Rittenhouse, but caution him and his defence team to keep their guard up. The federal Department of Justice has yet to weigh in, so expect charges under the Civil Rights Act to be filed very shortly. Lifetime pct .991.

UPDATE ADDED 20/11/21: As Walt predicted (lifetime pct .992), Democrats are now calling  on the Brandon Department of Justice for Some to consider federal charges against Kyle Rittenhouse. Within hours of the announcement of the not guilty verdict, Rep. (((Jerry Nadler))) (D-NY), who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, tweeted his call for a federal review.

Many of the "progressive activists" (read: loonie Social Justice Whiners), who so nonchalantly and callously dismiss the damage done to people and property by BLM and Antifa, support Mr Nadler’s call for a federal investigation. 

Why? Because Democrats are so accustomed to things going their way that they can't handle it when they lose. Legal Insurrection warns Mr Nadler to step away from his emotions over the verdict, and think about the repercussions of pushing the narrative that Kyle Rittenhouse was a white supremacist who violated the civil rights of his attackers. 

The Democrats, from Sleepy Joe on down, and their propagandists in the controlled media failed to make that case. And a basic lesson of military strategy is that you shouldn't reinforce failure!

VIDEOS: Biden and Bush warn: Real enemies aren't Muslims, but "extremists at home"

Ed. here. The anniversary of 9/11 saw lots of speeches, including those made by ex-President Dubya, who started America's meddling in the Muslim civil war, and the incumbent, who ended it (or so we are to believe). 

Although Mr Biden is a Dumbocrat, and Mr Bush a RINO [Is he still registered as a Republican? Ed.], they found a common theme. The dastardly attack, perpetrated by devout followers of the Prophet, abetted by Saudi citizens residing in the US of A, shouldn't be blamed on Islamic extremists or Muslims generally. On no. They are all followers of the Religion of Peace, dontcha know.

Here's a clip, excerpted (but not manipulated) from the official video released by the White House today. Listen to this, Americans, so you'll know where your freely and fairly elected President stands.

   

Former President Bushleague doesn't speak directly of Islamophobia or of the Religion of Peace. Instead, he warns us against "violent extremists at home", who (he says) are different from "violent extremists abroad" -- not  really the same as the crazed Muslims who took those jets for a one-way ride with a sudden stop. 

 

What sort of "extremists at home" do you suppose Dubya has in mind? Antifa? BLM? Surely not the peaceful protesters who occupied the Capitol on January 6th, one of whom was killed by police -- the only one who died in an event which the Democraps and lickspittle media keep telling us was worse than 9/11.

Elsewhere in his speech, Mr Bush made his views clear. He reaffirmed his belief that Americans should continue to welcome refugees and immigrants into the United States. "At a time when nativism could have stirred hatred and violence against people perceived as outsiders, I saw Americans reaffirm their welcome to immigrants and refugees. that is the nation I know," is what he said.

But let's be charitable to the two presidents. They are both in their seventies, and obviously cognitively challenged. One is suffereing from senile dementia. The other is an imbecile. If you find anything wrong with what these two men are saying, don't complain to us. You know what to do, next time you get the chance.

"Negro" or "black" or "Afro-American"? American historian weighs in

Joseph Chamberlain Furnas (24/11/1905 – 3/6/2001) was an American freelance writer, whose works include a trilogy of social histories of the United States: The Americans (covering the period 1570-1914), Great Times (covering the period 1914-1929) and Stormy Weather: Crosslights on the 1930s (which covers the time between the stock market crash and the attack on Pearl Harbor.) 

Mr Furnas was a Quaker, and a believer in the equality and brotherhood of man. Two of his books, The Road to Harper's Ferry and Goodbye to Uncle Tom, deal with "black" issues, notably slavery, which he viewed as an evil institution which degraded (black) slaves and (white) masters alike.

The Road to Harper's Ferry is an account of John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry, which delves into the lives and motivations of the "Secret Six" who gave him a great deal of his support. Goodbye to Uncle Tom examines how Uncle Tom's Cabin, both as a novel and in its many stage adaptations, has shaped American attitudes towards "Afro-Americans" and slavery.

I've put quotation marks around "black" and "Afro-Americans" for a reason. Mr Furnas wrestled throughout his writing with what to call people of the coloured persuasion. In a footnote at pp 405-6 of The Americans (G.P. Putnam's Sons, New York, 1969), he explains his preference for the word "Negro" to those terms which came before ("coloured") or later ("black"). 

Most of this book had been drafted before the recent shift frm "Negro" to "black" to designate Americans with discernibly West African genetic traits. Many Northern politicians and most of the communications industry [today we'd say "media". Walt] have adoped the term. I have...considered making the change throughout this book. Several rasons have deterred me.

For instance, there is no reliable way to learn how acceptable the term "black" may be to the many million Americans most directly affected. It has been used contemptuously for centuries, particularly by the British. 

Then the change seems pointless as a matter of logic. "Negro" is simply Spanish-Portuguese for "black". Neither term accurately describes either the skin pigmentation or (if "Negro" is used as anthropologists sometimes use it) the genetic makeup of most of the Americans to whom it is applied.

Either word could apply to the many Melanesians who are very disttantly if at all related to the West Africans from whom American Negroes descend. So "black" is no improvement if intelligibility is the test.

There is good reason to believe that the actual motivation, maybe often unconscious, of the current sponsors of "black", of the militant separatist-minded leaders a mong them, is to express alienation from all whites, even their most earnest well-wishers, instead of an effort toward higher accuracy of group-definition. 

Were I to make the shift in this book, I might well find within a year or two that a new token of alienation, maybe "Afro-American", had succeeded "black". 

And that's exactly what happened, except that "African-American" was more widely used than "Afro-American". Then, as "African-Americans" began to visit their ancestral homelands, as members of the Peace Corps or just as tourists, they discovered that they were strangers there, just as much as the evil whites. 

So we don't hear/read "African-American" any more. The current politically correct term is "Black", with a capital "B", as in "Black lives matter." I guess that's better than "black" because the capital shows that progressive people are giving "Black" folks mo' respeck... or something like that. [Should we call ourselves "White"? Ed.] Too bad Mr Furnas didn't live to comment on the current wokeness.

Fancy that! Minneapolis ordered to hire more cops

Ready for an I-told-ya-so story? In the wake of the death of Saint George Floyd (convicted felon and druggie) and the ensuing conviction of Derek Chavin and three other Minneapolis police officers, more than 200 other cops quit, retired, or took extended leave from the Minneapolis police department.

That wasn't enough for the BLM and SJWs, who demanded that the city cut – and even completely dismantle – its police department. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (Democrat) refused to cancel the copos entirely, but did OK a shift of about $8 million in funding to "violence prevention and mental health crisis response teams." He also proposed a further budget cut of $17 million for 2021.

Well, guess what? As of this past May, homicides in Minneapolis had doubled over the same time frame in 2020. Gun thefts from vehicles had risen by more than 100%, while illegal gun seizures had dropped. Surprise, surprise!  Residents from some minority communities [Hey, don't be afraid to call a spade a spade! Ed.] even began showing up at city council meetings demanding to know why police officers weren't responding to calls and helping stop the violent criminals rampaging through their neighbourhoods. 

All this was too much for eight denizens of the City of Lakes, who sued the city for not retaining enough officers on their payroll to meet local requirements. (According to a local ordinance, the city must employ at least 0.0017 sworn officers for every 1000 city residents.)

Hennepin County District Judge Jamie L. Anderson agreed, and ordered the city to employ at least 730 police officers by the end of next June. That number could be increased further, if the results of the 2020 census show an increase in the population of the metropolitan area.

Does anyone not see the irony in this? Newton's Third Law applies to more than physics! Told ya so!

VIDEO: Fed-up teacher slams Loudon VA school board's insane racism

Meet Lilit Vanetsyan, a self-described "educator" [Is "teacher" too simple a word for "educators"? Ed.] and reporter with Right Side Broadcasting Network. In only one minute, Ms Vanetsyan exposed the insanity of Marxist critical race theory, as embraced by the Loudoun County (VA) Public Schools.

This "extreme wokeness" (or "woke extremism?") teaches that hidden racism permeates American society, and encourages students to deconstruct the world around them to find hidden racism. Here's what Ms Vanetsyan thinks of it.

 

Critical race theory is the ideology which fueled the violent Black Lives Matter and antifa riots last summer. "Woke" school districts across the Excited States of America have rushed to get on the reverse racism bandwagon, but few more so than Loudoun County Public Schools, in the suburbs of Virginia, northwest of Washington DC.

For the sake of combatting perceived "systemic racism", the LCPS adopted curriculum from the far-Left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and removed the still-popular Dr. Seuss books from its library shelves. The LCPS plan also includes the obligatory "anti-racism training' (read" brainwashing) for teachers. Walt has heard that one of the "modules" is entitled "Guilty! Guilty! Guilty", with the text being a book of the same name by Garry Trudeau.  [Ed., you'd better check this.] 

It is also rumoured that "educators" will be required to instruct their impressionable pupils on how to draft and circulate petitions calling for the renaming of the Loudoun County seat, which happens to be, errr... Leesburg... named after... you know who.

Don't be misled by the self-proclaimed good intentions of the SJWs. In the name of promoting "sensitivity" and "tolerance", critical race theory promotes racism and division. 

It's not just whites who are targetted. In a statement released on 23 February, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance of Greater New York declared, "Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a hateful, divisive, manipulative fraud. One way or another, CRT wants to get rid of ​too many Asians​ in good schools. Asians are over-represented.​ CRT is today’s Chinese Exclusion Act. CRT is the real ​hate crime​ against Asians....

"CRT appears in our workplaces under the cover of ​implicit bias/sensitivity​ ​training​. It infiltrates our schools pretending to be ​culturally/ethnically responsive​ ​pedagogy​, with curricula such as the New York Times' ​1619 Project​ and Seattle’s ​ethnomathematics​. From its very roots, CRT is racist, repressive, discriminatory, and divisive."

Six things you can do to celebrate Black History Month

Never let it be said that Walt shrank from a challenge! It's still over two weeks to the much-longed-for end of Black History Month, so there's still time to do something to prove that you're woke. Here are six suggestions.

1. Read (and name) a poem by a Black author.

2. Spend a few minutes to learn about Africa, and answer three geographic questions

3. Dance to a Reggae song and list the name

4. Cook an African or Caribbean meal and describe it

5. Have a conversation with a Black co-worker and name them

6. Take a photo of an item in your home that reminds you of Black history and explain why with an accompanying picture.

I didn't make this up all by my(white)self. In fact they are taken from a memorandum sent to employees of the Regional Municipality of Durham (Ontario, Canada) promoting what they called the "Black History Month Scavenger Hunt". Really. 

A day after a copy of the list was circulated on antisocial media by a BLM activist, the usual suspects chimed in with shrieks of "Racist!" and call for "accountability", after regional officials issued the customary fulsome apology.

Shailene Panylo, co-founder of a group styling itself the "Durham Black Accountability Coalition" told Global News, "It was so incredibly shameful that I was as much as in disbelief as… I had to laugh, you have to laugh because how can after so much time, so much effort trying to educate, agitate, create change could something so completely off be put forth as a Black History Month initiative? It simply doesn’t make sense.

"Black History Month has long been an opportunity for non-Black folk to tokenize Black bodies within conversations and space, essentially freeing other people who are non-Black from having to interact with their own learning and unlearning in a way that's truthfully meaningful and would dismantle systems that activities like this only continue to uphold."

In response to the outcry, the Region of Durham tweeted "We hear you" and posted an image of a statement that said, "addressing anti-Black racism is a priority" for the municipality. It said there will be other activities throughout the month for staff to learn about Black history, Black culture and achievements within the Black community.

The statement also said, "Through engaging with the community and Regional staff we acknowledge that mistakes will be made when addressing anti-Black racism. This challenge activity is one of them." Note the use of the passive voice there. That's how you weasel out of saying, "We made a mistake!"

Global News spoke with Chair John Henry [Is he a steel-drivin' man? Ed.] and Regional Municipality of Durham Chief Administrative Officer Elaine Baxter-Trahair to ask about the activity and the details surrounding it. Said the Chair, "Once we found out about it, we were disappointed. We reacted yesterday afternoon. It wasn't something we saw. I'm apologetic for it and we're sorry it has happened."

Following the statement by the Chair, the Table (Ms Baxter-Trahair) said the activity and Black History Month activities were overseen by a "cross-department diverse group of individuals." She went on to describe what happened as, errr, a "misjudgment". "There was [sic] just a couple of misjudgments, so going forward I have to make sure there's the oversight and training in place so the committee can make better decisions."

So everything's OK then, in the Region of Durham. No systemic racism there! And yes, they're just about as woke as can be, although not so woke, of course, as Canuck Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface.

Anus Horribilis 2020: Poor Len Canayen's sports highlight of the year

Ed. here. 2020 is almost over, thank God, truly an Annus Horribilis if ever there was one. (I know my Latin but Walt insists on leaving the headline as he wrote it.) We continue our yearend review with a comment from our National Sports Editor, Poor Len Canayen.... 

Tank youse Hed. I `ave a bit of a problem here since you gave me da title of National Sports Editor, because you never made it clear which national sport I was supposed to report on. Different countries have different sports, eh. Canada has two -- the national winter sport (ice hockey) [Is there some other kind of hockey? Ed.] and the national summer sport (lacrosse), which is like hockey but more violent. Or at least that's the way it used to be. 

And the American national sport is... what... baseball? The rest of the world plays games like soccer (which they call "football" for some reason) and cricket, which are incredibly effete and boring. So which sport am I supposed to cover? OK, I'm gonna do the one I know best, the only one which might be considered a natural for a blog named Walt Whiteman's World. 

But first, a word about two American "national" (by name) sports -- National Basketball (as in NBA) and National Football (as in NHL). In terms of fan interest and revenue, those leagues have had the worst year in history, and will probably have another such in 2021. 

The leagues and the lamestream sports media (hello ESPN!) blame Covid-19 for their tanking ratings. I don't see that. With large swaths of North America under varying degrees of lockdown, common sense says there should be more people staying at home, hiding from the dreaded Kung flu, with nothing better to do than watch TV and, errr, the other thing. 

What, then, is the reason why fewer Americans [and Canadians! Ed.] are watching basketball and football, and baseball too? Dare we say that it could be because fans are fed up with the anti-American demonstrations performed by some non-white players and their "woke" colleagues, not to mention the sports media. 

This year it became a "thing" to "take a knee" during the (alleged) singing of the Star-Spangled Banner, to protest the horrible injustices of slavery, colonialism, racism, discrimination yada yada yada. It's more fashionable now than at any time since the Vietnam war to diss the flag of the United States of America and the Republic for which it stands. Patriotic Americans have noticed, and have reacted predictably and appropriately. 

Let me turn, then, to what I consider the Sports Highlight of the Year. On February 22nd, David Ayres, the Zamboni driver at a small arena in Toronto, suited up for the NHL Carolina Hurricanes after both their goalies were injured in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

How did that happen? Well, the NHL requires the home team -- Toronto, in this case -- to provide an emergency goaltender in the unlikely event of injury to either team's starting and backup goalies. The standby goalie gets paid a few bucks and gets to watch the game. But on the night of February 22nd, both of the Hurricanes' goaltenders (James Reimer and Petr Mrazek) were injured, so David Ayres entered the game at 8:41 of the second period, after signing a one-game contract.

Wearing a Maple Leafs t-shirt under his equipment, he allowed goals on the first two shots that he faced before stopping the next eight shots on goal, along with recording a shot on goal of his own (!) to help seal a 6–3 win for Carolina. He thus became the first emergency goaltender to record a win in NHL history! He also became the oldest goaltender (at 42 years, 194 days) to win his NHL regular-season debut.

Ayres was cheered to the rafters by the Toronto fans, and named first star of the game. He kept his game-worn jersey and game puck, and donated his game-used goalie stick to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Had he signed a Professional Try-Out Agreement he would have been paid $500 for the game, but Ayres said after the game that under the terms of his contract he was not paid. Hurricanes' forward Sebastian Aho said teammates pulled together and gave Ayres a little bit of money. 

Following the game, the Carolina team announced that they would be selling T-shirts with Ayres' name and sweater number (90), with royalties going to Ayres and a portion of the proceeds being donated to a kidney foundation of Ayres' choice. But wait, there's more! Ayres was invited to sound the siren at the start of the Hurricanes home game on February 25th, which was declaired "David Ayres Day" in the City of Raleigh.

The NHL and its players have agreed on terms for a 56-game season to start on January 13th. It looks as if almost all 31 teams will be playing in their proper cities and arenas, probably without fans, but you can bet that, in Canada at least, hockey-starved fans will be put TV ratings through the roof! 

My favourite Montréal Canadiens look to have been strengthened greatly by some smart off-season acquisitions by GM Marc Bergevin. Moreover, because of the realignment of divisions forced by that old debbil Covid-19 and the closure of the US-Canada border, the Habs will be playing in an all-Canadian "Northern Division". So I'd say they, and Canadian fans should be set for a memorable 2021 season... maybe even a Stanley Cup!

What happens tomorrow? Signs and portents

Watching the Sunday Funnies (political TV programmes), I am a bit surprised (and much encouraged) by the way the lamestream media pundits are backing off their earlier predictions of a Biden landslide. What I heard yesterday was a lot of "too close to call" iffery. 

Very Important Reporters are out of the studios, doing standups in places like Florida, Pennsylvania and (ughh, brrr) Michigan, explaining away the crowds and enthusiasm at the Trump events and lack of same at Mr Biden's gatherings of a few parked cars. 

Did you see the clips on Sunday? 1000s of people turned out in miserable weather (in MI at least) to cheer on Still-President Trump. Sleepy Joe stood at the edge of a carpark pretending to orate, while we heard the sounds of silence. See "1000s attend Trump FL rally, crickets heard at Biden rallies", WWW 14/10/20.

The lefties are nervous, friends, and well they might be. So are the pollsters. Have you ever heard so much talk about margins of errors and the "hidden Trump vote"? Just last week, notorious anti-Trumper Michael Moore told Rising that the polls predicting a Biden win were almost certainly wrong. Click here to see the video, posted on WWW 29/10/20. 

Just a few days prior, Robert Cahaly, chief pollster for the Trafalgar Group -- one of the handful who got it right in 2016 -- told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he sees President Trump being reelected. Mr Cahaly cited the aforementioned "hidden vote" which he said is predominantly missing from polling showing Democratic nominee Joe Biden leading nationally and in most swing states. Let's talk about the all-important swing states. As noted above, Michael Moore already concedes that President Trump could win Michigan again. Florida looks like being close, as usual, but Mr Biden's idea of a big and prolonged lockdown isn't playing well in a state where tourism and having fun is essential to economic survival.

The lamestream media are saying Texas is in play, for the first time in decades, and that's why the Dumbocrats sent noted Indo-Jamaican politician Kamala Harris there to stump for Creepy Joe. I don't believe for a minute that TX will vote for the anti-oil party.

So also Pennsylvania, where Old Joe pulled out his rusty service revolver and shot himself in the foot with a promise to end fracking. That may have played well in Philthydelphia [so well described by Bill Burr in "The Philadelphia Incident". You can look it up. Ed.], but that city is already notorious for providing the Dems with "votes on demand" as the results roll in. "Just tell us how many you need!"

The extent of the damage Mr Biden did to himself and his campaign can be seen in the endorsement by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of... wait for it... Still-President Trump. See "The man and the record", PP-G 31/10/20. This is the first time since 1972 that this respected newspaper has come out for a Republican. 

To me, the most telling part of the their editorial is this paragraph:

Mr. Biden is too old for the job, and fragile. There is a very real chance he will not make it through the term. Mr. Trump is also too old but seemingly robust. But in Mike Pence, Mr. Trump has a vice president ready to take over, if need be. He is a safe pair of hands. Sen. Kamala Harris gives no evidence of being ready to be president.

In Philadelphia (and other Democrat-run cities), there is tangible evidence of fear of what will happen in the aftermath of a Biden win. Business owners big and small are closing their shops, boarding up the windows, hunkering down for the rioting and looting which (they must think) are inevitable. 

Are they afraid of pissed-off conservatives burning down the town if Mr Trump loses? Don't think so. They're afraid of the BLM and Antifa mobs which Biden-Harris refuse to condemn, and will be unable to control once the police are "defunded" and prosecutors are instructed to ignore the "antics of mostly peaceful protesters". Time for a prediction, then? I'm still hoping President Trump will be re-elected, and am cautiously optimistic, but not willing to put down any serious money on it. So if you're a Biden fan (Hello, Agent 17!) and/or a sufferer from TDS, and want to get your bet down, Las Vegas oddsmaker-turned-conservative talk-show host Wayne Allen Root will be happy to accomodate you.

These days you get more objective analysis of what's happening in the 2020 election from outside the Excited States of America than from the leftist controlled media within. Here's a hot-off-the-press report from Pennsylvania by Australia's Sky News.

 

Calgary school principal in hot water for using N-word in discussion with... errr... black students

Apparently the word "nigger", which has been systematically erased not just from the meeja but from our memories, is not totally proscribed after all. Seems it depends who uses it.

A school principal in Calgary -- Canada's ghost-town version of Dallas -- found that out the hard way, having been denounced as a racist etc etc for daring to ask a group of black students why they use the N-word when talking to each other, but get in a frizzy [tizzy? Ed.] if it's used by a person of non-colour.

The meeting between Lianne Anderson, Principal of Saint Michael's Catholic School, and the students was secretly recorded by one of the students. A small portion of it was "shared" with other students and posted online. The students have been suspended for contravening the Calgary Catholic School District code of conduct policy that prohibits recording without consent.

According to CTV News, Ms Anderson can be heard saying, "So how come it's okay for you to say the word 'nigger' in a conversation directed at a group of students of colour?" 

A spokesthingy for the school board said Ms Anderson's comments were made in an attempt to have a "teaching moment" with the schoolchildren about diversity, and the comment was taken out of context.

In the ritual apology and Statement of Wokeness, the spokesperson added, "We have a zero tolerance policy for any racial or discriminatory actions or words that is not tolerated by staff or students." [Eh? Not an English major, I guess. Ed.]  Ms Anderson has been directed to issue her own personal apology and wash her mouth out with soap, but no further disciplinary action will be taken. 

But what about Ms Anderson's question? Why is it OK for black people to call each other "nigger" or (as in Pulp Fiction) "nigga"? Leaders with the Black Lives Matter YYC say the word is harmful only if spoken by the "oppressors". Said Adora Nowfor, who CTV calls the "president of the local iterationof the global movement", "It is never a privileged person’s place to educate or police an oppressed person in their own oppression." Understand, now?

I think we persons of non-colour really should make a greater effort to understand the differences between the way we talk and the way people of colour talk. Here is a guide which I hope you will find helpful.
