Nutbars left and right

Having been accused myself of being a racist right-winger*, I must say something about Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian who stands accused of killing 93 people and injuring many more in attacks on Friday.

It has been suggested in the lamestream press that Breivik did what he allegedly did because he's anti-Muslim, anti-multiculturalism, a fascist, a nazi, a blonde white guy, and probably can't ski either. Putting it another way, the suggestion is that Breivik, although he appears quite rational, is a raving racist loony monster. QED.

I understand where Breivik (according to his own public utterances) is coming from. There are lots of perfectly valid reasons to be against Muslims and against multiculturalism, both of which threaten what's left of our Christian, European civilization. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people hold similar views, although you'll never know it because polls showing such are routinely suppressed by the PC correct media.

However... neither I nor any right-thinking person [Could you define that term? Ed.] could possibly endorse the means Breivik has chosen to make his point. There is no -- absolutely no -- way that using the tactics of al-Qaeda and the Taliban will help to defeat terrorism. Anyone who kills innocent civilians, especially women and children (hello NATO!) descends to the level of those who find Osama Bin Laden an inspiring leader.

Terrorism, whether emanating from the extreme right, the extreme left or the extreme centre, is immoral. End of story...for now.

* I am a tired (but lovable) old man, and have lived long enough to know that the idea that "we are all the same under the skin" is bovine excrement. That makes me not a racist, but a realist.
