German chancellor admits that unfettered immigration caused chaos... in France and Italy, not das Vaterland!
The interview was taped on the sidelines of the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin this week. Herr Merz expressed "concern" that riots in France and Italy could spill over into das Vaterland and other EU nations.
When the Bloomberg interviewer dared to inquire as to the reasons for the unrest seen in cities like Paris and Milan, which have seen thousands of arrests, widespread looting, and arson attacks, Chancellor Merz admitted that it is "most likely" the result of "non-integrated people" [Love that phrase! Kind of like "unhoused people"! Ed.] due too... errr... "migration".
He said this was leading pissed-off native Europeans to vote for "extremely right [read: Alternativ für Deutschland] and extremely left" political parties, thereby creating "tensions and obviously riots in some countries, including France."
Walt says the only reason there have been no major riots in Germany yet is the Germanic tendency to wait until permission has been given, organizations put in place and jackboots issued. But I digress...
Fred's admission that mass migration and the failed attempts at assimilation are not only radicalising the host populations, but also responsible for violent civil unrest is pretty rich, coming from the leader of the same party -- the Christian Democratic Union -- whose previous leader, Chancellor Angela Merkel, opened the floodgates, thus starting the European Migrant Crisis of 2015, giving impetus to the Great Replacement which appears now to be unstoppable.
While Herr Merz campaigned in the last federal election on clamping down on immigration, he largely abandoned this position after forming a coalition with the left-wing, pro-open-borders Social Democrats rather than partnering with the anti-mass-migration AfD, which he regards as beyond the pale of political acceptability.
Chancellor Merz has frequently defended the need for continued mass migration into Germany and Europe as a hole [misspelling intentional. Walt], claiming that more waves of foreigners are required due to supposed shortages in the labour market and to mitigate the demographic impacts of an ageing population. Just last May he declared, "Germany is a country of immigration. It has always been so; it is so now; and it will remain so."
All the same, in the Bloomberg interview, he admitted that Germany and Europe feel a sense of "uncertainty" and "anxiousness", saying people are concerned about rising energy costs, inflation, and housing costs. "People are really fearing what is next and what comes in our future, and how can we establish our future for our kids and for our grandchildren?"
He said that with a straight face while failing to acknowledge that mass immigration exacerbated many of the issues he listed, straining the housing supply, while studies have consistently found that increased diversity lowers social trust. Breitbart News reported in April that recent police data found that migrants accounted for 42.9% per cent of all violent crime suspects in Germany. How much longer Chancellor Merz can pretend there is no connection is anybody's guess.

Philadelphia stories: The Great Replacement + Bill Burr rant
This is the scene as 1000s of followers of the Prophet from west Africa congregate outside after Friday prayers at Masjid Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jama'ah mosque in southwest Philadelphia, published recently by WaPo. Note that they waited until after the election to post this!

"Allahu akbar!" in Paris... again...
The policewoman thoughtfully picking her nose [Just scratching, maybe? Ed.] is on the scene of what French prosecutors now call a "terror-related" knife attack yesterday, in the Paris suburb of Villejuif. (Translates as "Jewville" or "Jewtown".) The assailant killed one man and seriously wounded two other people in Hautes-Bruyères park before being shot by the flics. At first the authorities tried the same spin that was used so effectively in the Toronto Danforth "incident" over a year ago, claiming that the attacker, whom they would not identify, was mentally deranged, and that his motive was unknown. Today, however, Inspector Clouseau said investigations over the past few hours revealed that the assailant had been "radicalized" and had prepared the attack as part of a "terrorist undertaking".
Notice that they refused to utter such words as "Muslim" or "Islamic". They didn't have to. The jig was up, so to speak, when local prosecutor Laure Beccuau said the 22-year-old man shouted "Allahu akbar!" -- "God is great!" in Arabic -- not once but several times during the attack.
In a completely unrelated story, official statistics released this week showed that Seine-Saint-Denis, to the north of Paris, is the third biggest département (a regional administrative division) of France, by population. It is also the poorest. And the site of one of the worst ghettos anywhere in the country.
Historically, Seine-Saint-Denis was not always so poor, and its largest city, Saint-Denis, used to be the place where Kings were crowned. That was a long time ago. Since then, it has been hit by mass immigration, economic crisis and a succession of Communist local governments. The flood of immigrants, mostly from the Muslim countries of north and central Africa, led to the building of "cités" -- cheap and large building complexes meant to house poor workers, and, later, severely impoverished populations outside of Paris. Cultural integration issues and economic crisis brought more poverty, and with it crime.
Police and firemen don't enter these cités any more, because it's too dangerous for them. Gangsters operate drug traffic there, using young men as their eyes and ears, sellers and henchmen. Those guys are uneducated, violent and will throw rocks or other projectiles at police and fire dpt vehicles if they breach territory. Media types with pale complexions enter the cités only to report the nasty news: rival gangs fighting, the occasional shooting, gang rape, and, of course, acts of Islamic terrorism.

Immigration drops to lowest level in ten years... where???
Polling done in January by the Australian National University showed soaring house prices and crowded cities have combined to convince a clear majority of Australians that the country's immigration push must end. (The USA, UK and Canada do not have such problems, of course.) Less than a third (30.4%) of Aussies polled said they believed Oz needs more people. More than two-thirds (69.6%) felt Australia did not need more people, almost a 180-degree turn from the results of a similar poll done in 2010.
Apparently the Australian government (unlike those of the UK and Canada... especially Canada) has taken note of the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the country's citizens. SBS News reports that tough qualification rules and a preference for skilled workers has seen the number of migrants granted permanent residency in Australia fall dramatically.Figures released today show just over 160,300 individuals were given permanent resident visas in 2018-19, slightly down from 162,417 the previous year. The number is nearly 30,000 fewer than the annual migration cap of 190,000. By comparison, the three major political parties are all for "welcoming" over 300,000 immigrants, while only Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada has called for a cap of less than half that number.
Another big difference between the Australian and Canadian policies on immigration is that the bulk of those admitted to Australia were skilled workers, with 109,713 immigrant visas -- about 70% -- granted under the skilled stream. And Aussie Immigration Minister David Coleman boasted of a 44% percent increase in visas granted to those willing to move outside big cities into regional centres. "Our population plan will ease the pressure on the big capitals," he said, "while supporting the growth of those smaller cities and regions that want more people."
The Australian government's reduced cap on annual permanent migration to 160,000 comes into effect this financial year, as it tries to address concerns about high numbers of foreign entries to the country. "NO to mass immigration", say the people of Australia. (OK, the signs pictured, which have sprung up across Oz, put it a little more bluntly!) Put up a sign saying the same thing in Canada and it gets torn down.
