A large crucifix, whose figure is covered by a purple veil, is brought from the sacristy to the middle of the sanctuary. The celebrant receives the Cross in front of the altar. He then unveils the Cross in three steps -- first one arm, then the other, and then the entire Cross.
As he does so, he sings (each time): Ecce lignum Crucis, in quo salus mundi pependit. (Behold the wood of the Cross, on which hung the Saviour of the world.) The choir answers: Venite adoremus. (Come let us adore.)
This afternoon, at Saint Aloysius Church, in Thorold ON, a remarkable thing happened... perhaps not so remarkable to those who embrace the True Faith.
At the precise moment when Father Robert Novokowsky, FSSP, unveiled the Cross, there was a bit of thunder, and the heavens opened up, as if Heaven was crying, mourning the wickedness of the world, for which the Son of God paid the price.
After a short while, the sun came out again, just as Christ rose again on the third day. This is the testimony of one who was there. Maybe it will mean something to you... maybe not... But let it never be said that God doesn't send us messages -- signs, signals and, yes, warnings -- every day.
