The BIG ballot question in 2024

Almost immediately after he was steered into the Oval Office to begin work as front man for the Obama-Soros Deep State, Senile Joe Biden began rolling back President Trump's immigration policies, which he had assailed throughout the 2020 campaign as "harsh and inhumane."

That was three years ago. And we all know what's happened to America since the borders (north as well as south) were declared open again. President F.J. Brandon now sounds remarkably like the Donald as he presses Congress for "restrictions" (not an outright ban) on asylum seekers. Progressive thinkers are moaning that such measures would be unthinkable if Uncle Joe were still alive.

But no... President Brandon is boarding up the entrance to his Delaware basement against  the expected home invastion by the "undocumented newcomers" he can see marching up the driveway even now. He is under intense pressure, not just from Republicans but from Democrats, including elected Democratic officials in "sanctuary cities" 1000s of miles from the border who are feeling the blowback from Americans angry about the effects of asylum-seekers arriving in record numbers. 

With the 2024 presidential campaign shaping up as a likely rematch between Crooked Joe and the Donald, unlimited and uncontrolled immigration has become Mr Brandon's biggest potential liability.

That's why the Democrats have and the lickspittle media have done the Big 180, and are now pushing a sweeping measure that would expand the President's authority to put strict new limits on border crossings. "If that bill were the law today, I'd shut down the border right now and fix it quickly," Joe said (from his basement) this past weekend.

Meanwhile, President Trump, is eager to rekindle the passions that the wide-open border fueled during his successful 2016 campaign. Corey Lewandowski, his 2016 campaign manager, said, " It has been a message that has resonated not just with Republicans or Democrats, but across the country, because now even those liberal cities, those blue cities, those blue mayors, they're saying we can't handle the crisis anymore and give us help,"

Mr Trump lamented over the weekend that his border message didn't resonate when he ran for reelection in 2020 because he'd done such a good job controlling the border that he "took it out of play." The Dempanic over Covid didn't help either, as the number of immigrant wannabes dwindled somewhat because of lack of job prospects. 

Campaigning in Las Vegas on Saturday, President Trump said, "Literally we couldn’t put it in a speech. Nobody wanted to hear about the border. We had no border problem. But now we can talk about the border because it's never, ever been worse than it is now."

A vote on the supposedly bipartisan bill to reimpose border controls is expected today. Walt wonders if the so-called moderate Republicans will be suckers enough to support the Dumbocrats' desperate ploy to shield Crooked Joe from the voters' wrath in November, thus putting him back in the White House for aother four years or his death, whichever first occurs. Stay tuned.

Agent 35 vents re the Covid plandemic and the Canuck misgovernment

I don't think we've ever turned this space over to one of Walt's agents, but Agent 35 is so worked up about the Covid-19 plandemic, the closure of the US-Canada border and the all-powerful state that we've decide to publish, mostly unedited, the comments she sent us in response to "Latest TRUTHFUL facts and figures on the Dempanic", WWW 14/9/20.

The first 12 minutes comport with everything I've read, but it took me hours and hours to find what this video has so wonderfully aggregated. I should have relaxed and waited, but I immediately suspected the info we were getting starting in March.

I did run across a Swedish video where one of the doctors planning the Swedish response was quite rational and matter-of-fact about their situation unlike the psychos we are dealing with in North America.

I am sickened by seeing the compliance and even more sickened by seeing small children being trained to wear masks. There is a monstrous physical and spiritual evil at play. My dentist and his assistant don't accept the BS, but they have to comply or they can't do business.

Another evil is the prohibition against Hydroxychloroquine protocol used all over the world. In many countries it is available over the counter. Some European globalist countries took it off the shelves shortly after [President] Trump promoted it after speaking with some of the medical experts using it. The globalists must have investments in vaccines. I don’t know what I will do if that demon PM [Justin Trudeau] mandates vaccines. We have very anti-Canadian people in government.

In the Democrat states the governors and mayors have gone insane as they try to usher in totalitarian communism by allowing their people to be murdered by thugs and won't allow the police to protect the tax-paying public.

The educational BS here is insane. Having retired from the world of secondary education, and watched it decline, I have advised people to go private or Catholic, not public. I for one would like a tax rebate since education is reduced, municipal government is reduced and the federal government is too. Where's our money for services not rendered!?

Australia and New Zealand have gone full bore totalitarian. Governor Cuomo has gone insane. He is a modern day Nero. [Toronto Mayor John] Tory in Toronto has done nothing to remove the tent cities where everyone should be dead from Covid according to government BS. In California, they've got homeless tent cities of 50 thousand. Where's the Covid outbreak?

There is talk in Québec that they will forcibly move people to government settings if they donèt comply with government directions. In some areas of Ireland, you canèt leave your house or go more than a few feet away from your home. I wish a strong protest against this crap would start up....

The everyday citizen can't cross the border without coming home to house arrest, yet people who work in the US as "essential" workers can go back and forth. Thousands of truckers from all over the US and possibly Mexico can come and go.

Protesters can march without masks or social distancing, the same with rioters. They don't die. Even worse the evil powers that be have managed to make citizens enemies of each other. Anger that should be directed at government idiots is deflected toward the mask refusers. Exactly the same manipulation I saw in China when I worked there....

Canada, I am afraid, has been sold out to China while the propagandist media kept Canadians focussed on the bad orange man to the south, one of the few heroes left in world.

VIDEO: Undefended border with Canada threatens both countries

For many months now, Walt has been reporting on the problems at the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM), particularly at St-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC, where 10s of 1000s of "refugees" from the USA (!) have crossed illegally into the Great No-longer-white North following Canuck Prime Minister Trudeau's infamous tweet in which he offered asylum to anyone, anyone fleeing the horros of Trump's Amerika. Those stories have focused on the problems caused by the lack of border controls on the Canadian side. A particularly egregious example is the true story of Abdullahi Hashi Farah, a follower of the Prophet Mohammed who came to the USA as a refugee only to commit numerous criminal acts. American authorities would like to arrest and (maybe) deport him, so he did the logical thing and refugeed right quick to Canada, where he was arrested and released three times because he was honest enough to declare that he was in trouble in the USA. But the ever-increasing tide of terrorists and criminals runs in both directions, and at least some American lawmakers have started to notice. Last week, the incoming chair of the House Homeland Security Oversight and Management Efficiency Subcommittee, Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA), said that President Trump's focus on the US-Mexico border is leaving unaddressed threats from America's northern border. In an interview with CTV's Richard Madan, Mr Correa said that, because personnel and resources are being diverted to the southern border, the northern border is "totally wide open". Here's the report from CTV News.



"Big swaths of area between Canada and the U.S. -- nobody watching," said Mr Correa. "A lot of negative things go in and out: drug trade, arms trade, things that happen on the northern border that nobody's watching. And it's happening now." He said he had been warned by a US border agent that the Canadians were being complacent, worrying only about the bogus refugee claimants coming into their country from the the USA.

In its "Northern Border Strategy", the Department of Homeland Security said the biggest threat from Canada was the illicit drug trade. It also warned of terror threats "from homegrown violent extremists [Not Islamists, surely! Ed.] in Canada who are not included in the American government's consolidated terrorist watch list and could therefore enter the United States legally at Northern Border ports of entry...without suspicion."

Rep. Correa's accusations aren't new. At a hearing of the same committe back in November of 2017, Rep. John Katko (R-NY) warned that several facilities on the American side of the border, including crossings at Niagara Falls NY and Champlain NY, have been "woefully neglected". A sign at one border crossing shows there are "200 vacancies" for Border Patrol agents at the Canadian border.

For want of adequate manpower to do proper inspections and vetting, Islamic terrorists and criminals of all religions can slip the great undefended border without detection. "We have to recognize the northern border is a threat just like the southern border," he said, "and I would argue that because of lack of attention it is more than a threat."

Canuck "conservatives" wimp out, pull anti-border jumpers ad

The Canadian brand of conservatism is pretty thin gruel compared with the chunky stuff which got Donald Trump elected. The leader of the so-called Conservative Party of Canada, Andrew Scheer, is a decent guy, good Catholic with several kids, whose baby face, dimples and short-sleeved madras shirts make him look like a small-town insurance salesman. [What is he, actually? Ed.] He never has a bad word to say about anybody -- even "Mr Socks" -- and is in grave danger of becoming a "Joe Who" footnote to Canadian history.

Mr Scheer's high wimp factor is only a reflection of that of his party, which appears not to understand that its function, as Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, is to be politically incorrect to the degree necessary to counter the exagerrated political correctness of the Trudeau Liberals, which now has the status of political orthodoxy, not to be questioned by anyone, anyone in politics or the (((media))).

The latest PC commandment, handed down by the Somali-born Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (no, I'm not kidding) is that the dark-complected people who cross the Canadian border other than at a port of entry are not "illegal", even though their actions in jumping across the undefended border are clearly in violation of Canadian law. Moreover, it's not Just In Trudeau's fault that they're coming, in their 1000s, from a safe country (the USA) just because Junior tweeted after the election of DJT that all those "fleeing persecution" are welcome in Canada.

The Conservatives have argued (although not very forcefully) that Mr Socks' Tweet is exactly the reason that a large contingent of Mounties has been deployed near St-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC to carry the bags of the "asylum seekers" to the bus which will take them to the welfare offices of Montréal and (they hope) Toronto. Since speaking in Parliament and on the Sunday morning snorefests doesn't seem to be doing any good, the Tories decided to publish an ad calling attention to the problem which the Liberals deny is a problem, let alone a "crisis". So here's what they put up on their Twitter feed yesterday.

In a display of cowardice in the face of the PC police unusual even for Canadians, the Conservatives pulled the ad, even before the day was done. Tory spokesthingy Cory Hann told the CBC (of course!) that the ad was axed because the situation at the border is "not about any one group of people." LMAO. Mr Hann said the image, which shows an actual person of the coloured persuasion illegally crossing over the Canadian border was originally used by a number of media outlets with stories about the surge in asylum seekers. But, he added, the full photo shows the man with a group of people, so they shouldn't have singled out this one guy who happens to be, errr, black.

Walt's challenge to Cory Hann: Search through all the images of illegal border crossers, including the one I used in my post of April 24th, and show me one (1) of the illegals who is not a vizmin. Even a hoser knows what's going on. Why are the Conservatives afraid to depict the truth? Trying to work both sides of the street, perhaps?

Canuck Liberals stew in Trudeau's pro-refugee juice, beg USA to amend Safe Third Country Agreement

This is almost too good to be true, but it is true! You may remember -- Canadians certainly do -- Prime Minister Just In Trudeau's tweet, following the inauguration of President Trump, inviting any and all "refugees", asylum-seekers and undesirable turned away by the US of A to head for the Great No-longer-white North, where the welcome mat would be out for them, along with food, houses, cars etc, courtesy of generous Canadian taxpayers. Here's what Mr Socks said.

Imagine the Boy Wonder's surprise when 10s of 1000s of bogus refugee claimants and other third world scum took him at his word! As reported in "Canuck Conservatives demand Liberals stop border jumpers", WWW 24/4/18, and confirmed yesterday by CTV News, some 26,000 immigrant wannabes have crossed the undefended border "irregularly" (that's Govspeak for "illegally") in the past year, including 5000 in April alone.

This weekend, Stéphane Handfield, a prominent lawyer and member of the refugee industry from Québec, yesterday joined his province's Liberal government in calling on the federal Liberals to do something! He penned an open letter calling for the Safe Third Country Agreement to be put on hold for three months while officials figure out next steps. The STCA is a pact between Canada and the USA which governs where people can make asylum claims on either side of the border.

As Walt told you in "Trudeau's plan to reform Canadian immigration system", WWW 23/4/18, turning away 1000s of potential Liberal voters is not an option for the Trudeau government, which faces a potential revolt even in its own ranks. Even yesterday, Canada's Minister for Refugees and Immigration [really!], Ahmed Hussen [really!], himself a refugee from Somalia [really!], insisted that there are as yet no "formal negotiations" to amend the STCA.

Even as he spoke to the Canuck meeja, a spokesthingy for the US Department of Homeland Security said in an e-mail, "DHS is currently reviewing the proposal made by Canada to amend the Safe Third Country Agreement, but we have no decision to announce at this time."

The statement went on to say that border patrol agencies on both sides of the border collaborate on security efforts and that elements of the US government -- including Department of Homeland Security and the State Department -- are working closely with the government of Canada "to understand the evolving flow of northbound asylum seekers, including through joint CBP-CBSA analysis and collaboration by ICE and the State Department at U.S. embassies and consulates overseas."

Neither the American nor Canadian governments aqre taking seriously what appears to me to be a sensible proposal from the Conservative opposition. As it stands, the STCA requires asylum-seekers to make their claim in the first safe country they arrive in, unless they qualify for an exception spelled out in the agreement. It applies only to claimants trying to enter at official land border crossings, by train or at airports, which is why some are making the trek into Canada outside official crossing points.

Solution: Designate the entire border as an official crossing, so that border-jumpers caught sneaking through the brush can be arrested and immediately dumped back on the side from whence they came. That would benefit not just Canada but the Paranoid States of America too. Sadly, simple sensible solutions are not the kind which bureaucrats embrace easily or with joy. Expect the dithering to continue... along with the the flow of undesirable illegal aliens.

UPDATED: Canuck Conservatives demand Liberals stop border jumpers

Yesterday, in "Trudeau's plan to reform Canadian immigration system", Walt told you that Québec's Immigration Minister warned Canada's federal government that, come summer, up to 400 "refugees" and asylum-seekers from shithole countries could be crossing into his province every day. And why wouldn't they, having heard about the Prime Minister of Canuckistan's "Give us your tired, your poor, your scum" tweet following the inauguration of President Trump.

Although Just In Trudeau's "Let them all in, as long as they promise to vote Liberal" stance is patently obvious, the government of Québec, which received 90% of the 20,593 illegal immigrants who entered Canada in 2017, has told the feds that they'd better help, because the province's education and social service agencies won't be able to cope with the influx.

Now the opposition Conservatives are entering the debate. Tory immigration critic Michelle Rempel today tabled a motion in the House of Commons urging the Liberal government to take "immediate action" to halt illegal border crossings, describing the flow of asylum-seekers from the USA as a "crisis without a plan." Things are so bad, said Ms Rempel, that the Mounties have had to work overtime and transfer staff from other parts of Canada to help with arduous tasks such as carrying the bags for the scores of "refugees" who arrive every day at the "unauthorized" border crossing near St-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC.

Ms Rempel told the (((controlled media))) today that she's worried that the absence of a more forceful response from the federal government to illegal border crossings could erode Canadians' support for immigration. "You're not going to get any argument from Canadians that we support immigration in this country," she said, prompting reporters to rewind their tapes to make sure they heard her correctly.

Without skipping a beat, Ms Rempel put herself firmly on the path of political correctness, adding, "My concern is that if the government does not take steps to rectify [its] failure to manage our borders, we are going to rapidly see Canadians lose that social licence for immigration, because there will be a lack of faith in the ability of the government to ensure planned and orderly migration."

The rest of her statement was inaudible due to howls of laughter and hoots of derision.

UPDATE ADDED 26/4/18: Toronto Mayor John Tory (Tory by name, Tory by politics) apparently heard that the Liberals are planning on diverting 1000s more "refugees" to the Wormy Apple and expressed grave concern in a statement reported today by CTV News. Mayor John Tory says that the city has reached the limit of its ability to provide shelter and other social supports to new refugee claimants arriving in Toronto, and is in "urgent need" of assistance from the federal and provincial governments (read: from all Canadians who pay taxes to the federal and provincial Liberal governments). Fancy that!

"Mexico has got to help us at the border!" tweets POTUS

Earlier this morning, in my report on the findings of a French public opinion poll strongly supporting deportation of Islamic extremists, I opined that the only leader of the so-called Western democracies likely to listen to the people who elected him (or her) is President Donald J. Trump. Now I see by the mojo wire that POTUS is up and on the job, calling on Congress to use the "Nuclear Option if necessary" to keep undesirable migrants out of the USA. Here's what he tweeted while Walt was still asleep.

The President has previously called for the "nuclear option" -- changing Senate rules to end the filibuster -- but establishment Republicans have rejected that option. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Republicans will welcome the filibuster when they return to being the Senate minority, something that (IMHO) seems sure to happen if the anti-Trumpers in the GOP persist in their obstructionism.

Mr Trump began tweeting about immigration this past weekend, threatening to pull out of NAFTA unless Mexico does more to stop people from crossing into the United States. Mexico must "stop the big drug and people flows," he said, "or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!"

With a caravan of 1500 potential wetbacks heading north even as I write, strong action to close the border by whatever means would seem to be exactly what the American people want. And President Trump doesn't need a public opinion poll to tell him so!

Canucks ask US Homeland Security to help turn back border jumpers

Canada's state broadcaster, the CBC, released a funny story yesterday, in the middle of a sleepy afternoon when no-one was paying attention. Regular readers of WWW may recall that the Canuck government has been affecting all summer long to be unconcerned about the 1000s of "refugees", asylum-seekers and other would-be immigrants who are crossing the world's longest undefended border to get into Canada's much-too-generous welfare programmes.

Most of the dark-complected illegal migrants being welcomed by the Mounties at an "unofficial" border crossing near Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle QC are Haïtians and Africans. How did they get to that hole in the fence? Why, they came through the USA! Many of them, in fact, had lived in the Land of the Free for years before heading for the Land of the Free Lunch, in response to Justin "Junior" Trudeau's open invitation broadcast to a waiting world in response to President Trump's hint that the parasites had worn out their welcome in the USA.

As the number of illegals crossing from the USA into Canada keeps growing and growing, M Trudeau's Liberal government, facing a rising anti-immigrant backlash, keeps trotting out cabinet ministers and MPs to assure the angry Canadian public that Action is Being Taken and Everything is Under Control. But it's not Junior Himself who has to face the wrath of the people, nor is it Ahmed Hussen, the Somali-born Minister of Immigration and Refugees (sic). Noooo. It's usually poor old Ralph Goodale, the mild-mannered veteran who has the misfortune to be Minister of Public Secure and Civil Protection, which I guess means that the illegals are indeed a threat to the Canadian public, although of course Mr Goodale can't say that because of M-103. (Canucks will know what I mean.)

Poor old Ralph was again pushed into the spotlight -- like a deer transfixed in the headlights of an oncoming car -- on Sunday when he was interviewed by CBC News. He revealed that he had been having discussions with his American counterpart, Elaine Duke, the Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, with a view to... errr... getting her to do something, anything, on the US side of the border to help stem the tide of illegal migrants.

Mr Goodale said he asked Ms Duke to consider alerting Canadian authorities when the US is about to make policy decisions that would affect the border, in order to give agencies such as border services time to prepare. He also warned her to keep a "wary eye" on the travel visas it issues to the United States. He explained that Canadian officials have identified trends where documents issued from "certain US embassies and consulates" are being misused. "We have asked them to go back upstream and examine the pattern of these travel documents being issued," he said, "and how come the people to whom they were issued appear to have had no intention of staying in the United States, but were simply using the documents as vehicles to get into the United States and then make a beeline for the Canadian border."

Not wanting to appear racist or Islamophobic, Mr Goodale declined to identify diplomatic missions that have been problematic, but CBC News is reporting today that one place where a lot of people seem to be getting visas to visit the USA with the intention of heading to Canada is... wait for it... Nigeria.

Mr Goodale and Ms Duke have apparently discussed other "joint steps to take to address illegal migration across their shared border." For instance, the Canucks have suggested, the Americans could put up some signs on their side of the border "with messages to dissuade those seeking asylum in Canada." Yeah, that'll do it, for sure! Can't you just imagine a US Border Patrol officer yelling at a busload of Africans, "Don't make me point at the sign again!"? Said Mr Goodale, "They're examining what they can do to communicate."

So, dear Canadian readers, you mustn't worry. Action is Being Taken. Everything is Under Control. Diversity is Canada's Strength! Vote Liberal!

Majority of Canucks think government "too generous" to asylum-seekers

Ten days ago, in "Canada braces for tsunami of DREAMers", Walt stated, as the fact is, that the anti-immigrant backlash in Canada is growing stronger and stronger, as 1000s of bogus "refugees" and asylum-seekers -- most of whom have lived in the USA for years -- cross the Canadian border illegally at places like Emerson MB and Lacolle QC.

Here we see a group of illegals, carrying their meager possessions, being welcomed by the Mounties at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle as they cross the border marked by the "No Pedestrians" sign. Since July 1st (Canada's sesquicentennial), nearly 8000 of these economic migrants -- that's what they are -- have walked across the border into Québec to make asylum claims.

Canada's Liberal -- very liberal -- government announced yesterday that the "temporary" reception centre at Lacolle will be made less temporary (not to say "permanent"), as hydro and other facilities are being installed and upgraded so the bogus refugees can be fed, sheltered and "processed" throughout the harsh Canadian winter.

How do Canuck taxpayers, who have to foot the bill -- minimum C$649 per month per asylum-seeker -- for all this openness to diversity feel about it? No need to guess. A recent public opinion poll from the Angus Reid Institute finds 53% of Canadians are of the opinion that the country's approach is too giving. That's more than eight times as many as those who say Canada is not being "generous enough".

Asked to weigh in on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s public statements about Canada welcoming refugees while also discouraging irregular border crossings, slightly more than half of Canadians (54%) say the PM’s messaging has been "unclear", and a majority (57%) disapprove of the Trudeau government's handling of the situation overall.

43% of the Canadians polled expected the number of illegal border crossings to increase "quite a bit" (23%) or "become a flood" (20%) before the end of 2017. (The poll was taken before Walt used the word "tsunami".) Asked how Canada should focus available resources, 70% would prioritize border monitoring and security over assistance to new arrivals, favoured by just 30%. No question was asked about the possibility of building a Trumpian wall, possibly for fear that the idea would appeal to a lot of Canucks who hadn't thought about it before.

Will Junior Trudeau and his Somali Muslim Minister of Refugees and Immigration pay any attention to this or other opinion polls? Errr, no. Lifetime pct .977.

True stories from the US-Canada border

The post that got the most hits this week was "100s of Muslim invaders pour through swiss cheese-like Canuck border", WWW 6/3/17. But it's not like all the illegals and undesirables are trekking through the frozen fields and snowy woods south of Manitoba and Québec to avoid going through official border posts where they'd be turned away. Some are trying to smoke their way through Canadian and American border security at regular crossing points.

One of our agents has sent along two stories from the Niagara Falls Review, which I pass along to show you what the authorities are up against, on both sides of the world's longest semi-defended border.

In a Buffalo court last week, an Ontario resident was sentenced to time served and fined $2000 after being convicted of visa fraud. Assistant US attorney Stephanie Lamarque told the court that Liban Mumin Afrah, 42, entered the USA from Canada in 1996 and applied for asylum under the alias Ali Hussein. [What, not "Mohammed"? Ed.] Mr Afrah told border agents he feared he would be harmed if he returned to his native Somalia.

At the time of the fraudulent asylum application, the defendant had already been granted asylum by Canada under his real identity. Mr Afrah was granted an American green card under the false identity and regularly travelled between the US and Canada using both his Canadian passport and the fraudulently obtained green card. He got caught in the summer of 2015 when he attempted to renew his green card.

Also last week, a 25-year-old Jamaican pleaded guilty to re-entering the USA following a conviction for an aggravated felony. Attorney Lamarque said Horace Garfield Tajah attempted to cross the Peace Bridge (which connects Buffalo NY and Fort Dreary ON) on 23 January 2013. He had a valid US passport belonging to another individual and claimed to be an American citizen. Standard database checks revealed that Mr Tajah had been deported to Jamaica in 2012 and banned from the USA for life after he was convicted of multiple charges including conspiracy to commit murder in New York. He will be sentenced in June and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years behind bars and a fine of $250,000.

Dear reader, please note the length of time it took these cases to get to trial. Where do you think the defendants were, all these months? Who fed and housed them? Who paid for their lawyers? In the unlikely event they are deported after doing their time, who will pay for them to be sent back to the shitholes they came from? And how long do you think it will take before they're back in Canada and/or the USA?

Another prelate disagrees with Pope, says Muslims trying to conquer us

Pope Francis keeps talking through his beanie [Ed., what's the proper term for that little white hat?] or some other place, insisting that the attacks of Islamic terrorists being felt on virtually every continent have noting to do with the Muslim jihad -- religious war -- against Christianity and western civilization. The fact is that the Muslims intend to destroy the West.

They can't do it by force of arms in a conventional war, perhaps because they's too busy shooting at each other. So they resort to terrorist attacks on innocent civilians, hoping to make us so paranoid that we will start fighting with each other, like rats in a cage. In that they are having some success, as any traveller or would-be traveller knows. Who'd have thought that we'd see the streets of London patrolled by militarized police -- I'm scared to call them "Boobies" [watch your spelling. Ed.] any more -- clothed in bullet-proof vests and armed with assault rifles. I'd be afraid to ask one of those guys for directions!

If terrorism won't make us cower in our basements -- some folks in Europe, at least, are standing up and fighting back -- the ultimate Muslim weapon is immigration! Even German chancellor Angela Merkel, the proponent of "Willkommenskultur", as been forced to admit that the perps of recent atrocities in Germany were Muslims, with born in Germany but somehow "self-radicalized", or among the 1000s who flooded into the Fatherland disguised as "refugees" and "asylum-seekers". Same as the fanatics who killed dozens in France and Belgium.

And yet, and yet... leaders like Geert Wilders, Marion Le Pen, and (yes) Donald Trump, who call for controlling borders and resisting further immigration to our countries, are reviled as racists, Islamophobes, fascists, and so on. To my mind, they are not racists but realists! If we don't keep the Muslims out of our countries, and deport those who are already here illegally, they're going to kill us! They say so themselves...

The latest member of the Roman Catholic hierarchy to take issue with Pope Francis's assertion that the war on the West is not about religion -- see "Sorry, Holy Father, the war IS about religion", WWW 30/7/16 -- Most Rev. Gyula Márfi, Archbishop of Veszprém (Hungary) said in an interview that a desire to conquer Europe is a factor in mass Muslim migration to the continent.

"Jihad is a principle for Muslims that means they must expand," he told Il Timone today. "The earth must become dar al-Islam, that is, Islamic territory, by introducing Shariah -- Islamic law." He added that "Migration does not only have causes, it also has a purpose, such as the destabilization of Europe and the Euro. Just because we love the wolves, as God’s creatures, doesn’t mean we let them enter among the sheep, even if they come in sheep’s clothing." [Walt's emphasis.]

Carson calls for US troops to patrol border with Canada

The campaign for the GOP presidential nomination gets stranger and stranger, as the also-rans view to trump Trump. Today, presidential wannabe Johnny Carson [Are you sure of the name? Ed.] called for the deployment of soldiers along parts of the world's longest undefended (until now) border.

Carson, who is currently moving to the back of the bus ["pack", surely! Ed.] in the polls, made the proposal as part of his "Seven Steps to a Safer America" plan. It was originally supposed to be "Twelve Steps" but that number seemed a bit sketchy, somehow, besides which seven was all they could come up with.

The sixth step of the Carson Plan is this: "President Barack Obama and Congress should immediately deploy the National Guard and military troops to patrol the US southern border as well as designated spots along the northern border."

Which spots Mr. Carson has in his alleged mind was not made clear, nor was the reason he believes current security measures along the Canadian border are inadequate. Perhaps Mr. Carson is unaware that the US Border Patrol, or whatever those thugs call themselves, are already armed and surly.

Mr. Carson is not the first putative Republican candidate to suggest new defensive measures up north. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, now out of the race, was widely and rightly ridiculed for musing about the possibility of a wall along the Canadian border.

It may be that Mr. Carson's is trying to counter the perception that he is weak on foreign policy, weaker even than the incumbent president and his predecessor, Bush II. His plan includes a formal declaration of war against the Islamic State, the formation of a stronger coalition to fight the extremist group, and the creation of a "refugee safe zone" in northeast Syria.

Along with most state governors and the majority of Americans, Mr. Carson does not want the US to accept any more tired and Muslim masses. That may be where Canada comes in, since the Canucks are opening their arms and their wallets to followers of the Prophet. Another couple of hundred "refugees" will arrive in Toronto later today. Once landed, with "Maple Leaf Cards" safely in hand, some of them may well head south. But don't worry. If Mr. Carson has his way, the US Army will be there to repel them.

Western and Muslim societies "irreconcilably different", poll finds

Here's a real news flash for you. Western and Muslim societies are different. They have different religions, different customs, and different value systems. And, according to polling data being discussed at the Metropolis Conference of the Association for Canadian Studies, most Canadians -- Muslim and non-Muslim alike -- think the differences are "irreconcilable".

Whether it’s the rise of Islamic State zealots, the killing of free-speech advocates in Paris and Copenhagen or disputes over niqabs, the polling, done by Leger Marketing, shows Canadians share in the growing global anxiety about sectarian conflict. 63% of Canadian Protestants, 62% Jews, 60% of Catholics and 46% of the non-religious believe Western and Islamic societies cannot be reconciled. Even 42% of Canadian Muslims believe the contrast between the West and Islamic cultures is too great to be bridged.

Jack Jedwab, vice-president of the ACS which commissioned the Leger polls, called the findings "a huge blow to interfaith dialogue". He said the belief of a majority of Canadians that the West and Islamic society are locked in inevitable antagonism echoes the thesis of Harvard political scientist Samuel Huntington, author of The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of Political Order. Way back in 1992, Prof. Huntington predicted -- correctly, as it turns out -- that people’s cultural and religious identities would be the primary source of conflict in the post-Cold War world.

The Pew Research Center keeps track of such things. Its new report -- "Latest Trends in Religious Restrictions and Hostilities" -- confirms that worldwide social hostilities involving religion reached a six-year peak in 2012 and have remained basically stuck at that level.
Almost three in four global citizens, Pew reports, live in countries where religion-fuelled conflicts run the gamut from vandalism of property and desecration of sacred texts to violent assaults resulting in deaths and injuries.

What are the worst countries in the world for sectarian conflict? According to the Pew index, India shares that distinction with... wait for it... Israel. Next on the "Very High" list are the Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Tanzania, Indonesia, Egypt, Central African Republic, Iraq and Kenya.

What is the link which connects all the countries -- saving perhaps Sri Lanka -- on the list of "Very High" social hostility index? No prize for guessing that they all have Muslim majorities or large Muslim minorities.

What should we in North America learn from all t his? The polling done for the ACS revealed Canadians' concern about religion-related conflict is leading many to yearn for tighter border restrictions and less immigration from Muslim countries such Pakistan, Nigeria, etc etc etc.

Asked whether governments should deal with security concerns by "making it more difficult for people to come across national borders," 68% of Canadian Catholics agreed. So did 62% of Canadian Protestants and Jews, as well as 51% of the non-religious. Even 42% of Muslims agreed.

The two Leger polls of 2000 Canadians, including 500 born outside the country, were conducted in 2013 and 2014. They have an accuracy of plus or minus 2.9% 19 times out of 20. In general the polling results did not show marked differences between the responses of native-born Canadians and immigrants. Even the new-comers know a problem when they see one... even when they're part of it.
