European elections: the rise of the Right!

"Today Europe, tomorrow the world!" Ed. vetoed that headline, which he says has been done before. Cut to the news, which is that George Soros, Francis the Talking Pope and all the other "progressive" one-worlders are soiling their silkies today following right-wing parties' near sweep of European Union Parliament elections this weekend.

The victory of the Right was nowhere as convincing than in France, where Marine Le Pen's National Rally (RN) crushed the centrist coalition of President Emmanuel Macron. Projections for the final count put them at between 14.8% and 15.2% in the European poll, less than half the 32%-33% tally booked by RN.

So upset was Mama's Boy Macron that he called -- very rashly, IMHO -- a snap election for the French parliament, to be held within the next 30 days. M Macron won re-election in 2022, and cannot stand in the next presidential elections due in the spring of 2027.

Analysts have long predicted that M Macron would face severe difficulties in parliament in the wake of a heavy defeat to RN in the European elections, potentially including censure motions and the collapse of the government. But if his coalition loses at the new polls, he will be an even lamer duck, and Mme Le Pen will have even more power. 

M Macron has presented it as an existential choice for French voters: do you really want to be governed by the "far right|? Walt predicts he will be surprised when they answer, "Mais, si!"

France wasn't the only country whose people have finally come to their senses and voted to save their Western Christian societies... if that's possible. Although right-wing and nationalist parties have made gains, centre-right parties came out top in Germany, Greece, Poland and Spain, and made significant advances in Hungary. 

In Germany, Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided against calling an election, although his three-party coalition suffered heavy losses on the weekend. The alliance between the Social Democrats, Greens and liberals was already tricky, but Russia's invasion of Ukraine meant breaking economic and energy ties with Russia and renouncing former pacifist feelings. This alienated some core supporters, created party rifts, and overall rattled voters. 

The ongoing surge in migration has also put strain on the resources of local councils. While the government has managed to boost military spending and pivot away from cheaper Russian energy, money is tight, so voters are responding to rightist parties' promises of a quick return to peace and prosperity: The conservative CDU topped the polls with impressive 30% of the vote.The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) came second with 15.9%. That means that almost half of all German voters rejected the centre-left coalition. Herr Scholz's social democratic SPD got just 13.9% of the vote.

In Hungary, Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party won both the European and municipal elections, as expected. The even-better news for rightists is the emergence of Peter Magyar, a 43-year-old lawyer whose centre-right Tisza party replaced the old opposition. Fidesz got 44% and Tisza 30% -- that's nearly three-quarters of the vote for the Right.

Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni boosted her popularity by putting her name at the top of her Fratelli d'Italia party's ballot. The Brothers of Italy increased their share of the vote to 29%. Forza Italia, the party founded by late Silvio Berlusconi, won slightly more votes than the once-mighty League party, headed by Matteo Salvini. The centre-right coalition now looks good for at least another couple of years.

It appears that public opinion in the Netherlands hasn't changed much since November, when Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-immigration Freedom Party (PVV), won the national election. 

Although Green-Left parties secured the most seats in the European Parliament, the Freedom Party made the greatest gains, while centre-right parties had a strong showing. In a notable breakthrough the new BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) (Farmer-Citizen Movement) won two seats, becoming the first farmers political group to succeed in challenging the greenscam orthodoxy.

In Austria, Herbert Kickl, leader of the Freedom Party (FPÖ), told a crowd of cheering supporters that his party's victory in the European elections marked "a new era in politics." The irhgtist and conservative parties garnered close to 50% of the votes cast, with the FPÖ winning 25.7%  and the People's Party 24.7%. 

The Social Democrats got 23.3%, the Greens 10.9%, the liberal Neos 10.1%. For the FPÖ, the next step will be parliamentary elections in the autumn. Neither of the past two leaders of FPÖ, Hans Christian Strache or Jörg Haider, were able to deliver first-place for their party. But now that fears of a return to Nazism have been dispelled, the party is feeling confident of victory. 

What does it all mean? In a Europe-wide elections, dominated by immigration, inflation and the breakdown of social cohesion, law and order, a wave of anti-woke, anti-liberal, anti-incumbent fever swept the field. 370 million people were eligible to vote across 27 countries, and they handed a massive payback to liberal and Green parties. Is Europe headed "back to the future"? Will the USA, or even Canada, follow? Stay tuned!

"They use too much energy!" Swiss to ban electric cars?

Switzerland has often seemed to me to be an oasis of sanity in the middle of the European desert of common sense. [You're torturing that metaphor! Ed.] They wisely stayed out of the European Union, and have tight border controls to ensure that the migrant hordes go around them to Germany and France. Very sensible.

The Swiss are likewise sensible about "going green" to save the Earth from the climate "crisis". They don't have a lot of flat land for sprawling solar power arrays, and they don't want to see their lovely mountain landscapes disfigured by forests of windmills. So they're not about to jump on the battery-powered bandwagon. 

Instead, they plan to hold in check the demand for electricity generated by thermal (coal, oil, natural gas) stations. First to feel the power pinch will be the owners of Teslas, Volts and other EVs, as Switzerland considers a ban on the use of electric cars for non-essential purposes.

According to a report by Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten, the country's government has drawn up a raft of emergency measures aimed at reducing strain on the power grid for use in emergency scenarios. Besides the prohibition of the use of electric cars for non-essential purposes, measures such as limiting the total speed of cars, reducing the opening hours of shops as well as the amount of heating permitted at nightclubs are also planned.

What, then, is an "essential purpose"? The paper reports that necessary journeys include "professional practice, shopping, visiting the doctor, attending religious events, [and] attending court appointments." Walt wonders what "professions" will be exempted from the ban. Race-car drivers? Escorts doing out-calls? Welfare queens going to collect their cheques? [That only happens in America. Ed.]

The Swiss government appears to be hoping that such measures will allow it to avoid what Zimbabweans call  "load shedding: -- cutting off the power to certain customers or geographic areas for hours or even days when electricity becomes scarce. In the Philippines such periods of no electricity were called "brown-outs".

I don't know how to say "load shedding" in German ["Lastabwurf". Ed.] but the Germans had better get used to it, for the Fatherland appears to be in a very rough spot when it comes to the availability of both gas and electricity. German authorities [There's a loaded phrase! Ed.] are said to be actively preparing stages for potential blackouts should things deteriorate.

France too may be facing a hard winter. Its energy network tsar, Xavier Piechaczyk, [There's a real French name for you. Ed.] recently warned that there was a very real threat that blackouts could hit the country. Another government spokesthingy disagreed, saying there should not be a problem so long as the general public heed requests to save energy. However, the official reportedly said he could not rule out load shedding should savings not be made.

The only country where a dearth of electric power may not be a problem is Belgium, where people are expected to be able to warm themselves by bonfires of EVs started by Muslim soccer fans. Walt wonders how long a Tesla would burn.

EU-elites panic as rightist coalitions win Italian and Swedish elections

As predicted (or hoped for) here last Bastille Day, the center-right coalition led by Giorgia Meloni won a parliamentary majority in Italy's general elections, held yesterday. Her Fratelli d'Italia (Brothers of Italy) party received about 26% of the votes counted so far. 

Matteo Salvini's far-right League and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's centre-right Forza Italia, allied with the FDI, now control both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, with around 44% of the vote. Ms Meloni should thus become Italy's first female prime minister, heading the country's most right-wing government since WWII. 

Italian and European politicians are already crying foul. Shortly after conceding defeat, a senior memeber of the Democratic Party told the meeja "This is a sad evening for the country," adding that "[The right] has the majority in parliament, but not in the country." That seems a rather strange statement considering the result, but is consistent with the alarms raised by the Euro-weenies during the run-up to the election, when Ms Meloni was called the "new Mussolini", and worse.

Speaking early this morning, Ms Meloni said Italians had sent "a clear message" in backing her alliance. "If we are called upon to govern this nation, we will do so for all Italians, with the aim of uniting the people, of exalting what unites them rather than what divides them," she told reporters. "We will not betray your trust."  

In the 2018 election, the FdI garnered just over 4% of the vote. The party's rise to first place in the polls, at 26%, is attributable to Ms Meloni's clear and unapologetic stand in favour of conservative, pro-Western/anti-NWO principles, outlined in a barn-burner of a speech to Spain's far-right Vox party. 

"Yes to the natural family, no to the LGBT lobby, yes to sexual identity, no to gender ideology... no to Islamist violence, yes to secure borders, no to mass migration... no to big international finance... no to the bureaucrats of Brussels!" No wonder the lefties and one-worlders are afraid. 

Earlier this month, the people of Sweden, always held up as a shining example by the progressive one-worlders, throw out the Social Democrats, who had been in power forever, in national elections on September 11th. 

A right-wing group of parties, led by the centre-right Moderates, will have a go at forming the country's next government after the leftist Social Democrats failed to achieve a majority in the Riksdag.

Among the so-called "blue block" is the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, once shunned by the liberal political establishment, who recorded their best-ever election result with 20.5% of the vote, and thus will have great influence over the policies of the new coalition government. They campaigned on law-and-order issues following a rise in gun violence, and vowed to bring in longer prison sentences and reduce immigration. 

The election results in Sweden and Italy show the power of the resurgent right to harness the disaffection and Weltschmerz of the people of Europe. The chief reason for the victories of rightist parties is anti-immigration backlash. 

Europeans -- white Europeans, Christian Europans -- are sick, sore and tired of seeing their countries overrun by hordes of immigrants (especially "refugees" and asylum-seekers) who not only refuse to be assimilated into Western society, but are undermining Christian civilization to achieve the victory of Islam.

And they are fed up with the constant pandering to minorities by liberal politicians and churchmen (Hello, Francis!) intent on leading us into an anti-national, anti-Christian, New World Order, in which we will be dictated to by the World Economic Forum and the United Nations. "One nation under God" will be replaced by "One world under _______ (fill in the blank for yourself". 

Walt congratulates the Sweden Democrats and Fratelli d'Italia on their victories, and hopes they prove to be turning points for Italy and Sweden, as well as portents of things to come for the UK, Germany, France, and -- dare we say it -- America and Canada!

A victory for Christian democratic, conservative, patriotic politics

The Europe editor for the BBC, Katya Adler, reporting on this weekend's election in Hungary, said "You could almost hear the collective thud of EU hearts sinking last night," as pro-life and pro-family Prime Minister Viktor Orbán -- seen here with Marine Le Pen, leader of France's National Rally -- has won a resounding victory in his quest for a fourth term as the nation's leader.

Giving the lie to (((controlled media))) polls predicting his defeat Mr Orbán's conservative Fidesz-KDNP party won in a walk, defeating a six-party "progressive" coalition to take a supermajority in Hungary's parliament, taking 135 of the 199 available seats.

Addressing a cheering crowd last night, Prime Minister Orbán said that they had "won a great victory -- a victory so great you can see it from the moon and certainly from Brussels" [the capital of the European Union]. "The entire world can see," he added, "that our brand of Christian democratic, conservative, patriotic politics has won. We are sending Europe a message that this is not the past. This is the future, our common European future."

That message may not sit so well with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the former actor and comedian who starred in the TV series Servant of the People, in which he played the role of the Ukrainian president. The series aired from 2015 to 2019 and was immensely popular. A political party bearing the same name as the television show was created in March 2018, and mere months later fiction became reality as Mr Zelenskyy became president of Ukraine.

Volodymy Zelenskyy is the darling of the Western media these days, the hero of the resistance, the David who will defeat Goliath Putin, yada yada yada. In recent videos such as "Putin's War: Biden, Soros and the Ghost of John McCain", our old friend Michael Matt warns us that Mr Zelenskyy is firmly in the camp of the European liberals, sponsored by and beholden to George Soros, the WTF and the same globalist elites that control North America and Western Europe.

As Mr Matt says in the linked video, "It's easy to repeat after the talking heads on TV: 'I stand with Ukraine,' or 'Putin’s an evil madman!' But how does this help the suffering Ukrainians on the ground? And how is it beneficial to Americans, now that powerful voices in Washington are beating the drums of war in Europe?"

Mr Matt asks, "What led up to this crisis? Who stands to gain from war in Ukraine? And why is this dominated by the ghost of John McCain? George Soros brags how he'd set up a foundation in Ukraine to 'reimagine and rebuild' the country.... Think the Crisis in Ukraine started three weeks ago? Think again! Joe Biden, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Amy Klobuchar, Hunter Biden…what were they doing over there, and don’t we have the right to know what’s going on before we start sending our kids off to fight another war in Europe?"

In the run-up to the Hungarian election, the lickspittle media (including the BBC and AP) kept repeating the liberal party line about Viktor Orbán being a "longtime ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin" and "famed for his warm relations with Vladimir Putin." Mr Orbán, however, has always insisted that his dealings with the Kremlin have strictly practical bases, such as keeping gas prices down and the maintenance and expansion of nuclear energy production. 

Hungary has been the only EU member-state bordering Ukraine which has refused to allow weapons shipments to cross into the embattled country through its territory. But it has been generous with other forms of aid, including support for the many thousands of Ukrainian refugees who have entered the country.

I conclude with a reminder that Our Lady of Fatima warned that if Russia was not consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart, the "errors of Russia" would spread throughout the world causing the downfall of Western civilization and "the annihilation of nations". 

What did the Blessed Virgin mean by "the errors of Russia"? Certainly she meant godless Communism, and the insane secular humanism -- the denial of not just God's law but natural law -- which pervades Western society today. 

It is Vladimir Putin, not Volodymyr Zelensky, who is standing up to the Soros-led one-worlders. I support and pray for the Ukrainian people, who are fighting to preserve their country's independence. But I reject the notion that we should go to war for gay rights and the rest of the "progressive" prescription for a New World Order!

Marine Le Pen calls EU "failure", recommends "Frexit"

Regular readers will know that I have lots and lots of time for Marine Le Pen, the president of the French Rassemblement National (= National Rally), a power in French politics for over a decade, resisting globalism and promoting the growing movement to make France France again.

Madame Le Pen weighed in yesterday on Brexit -- the official withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union -- which finally took place on January 31st, at the stroke of midnight, western European time, in accordance with documents previously signed by both parties. In a Tweet, Mme Le Pen called the British exit from the EU the beginning of the collapse of the European Union and the formation of independent European states.

Mme Le Pen wrote (translated), "Brexit Day should mark the beginning of the construction of the European Alliance of Independent Nations, which we wish for." She believes the vast majority of Europeans want independence from the EU, which she predicted will go down in history as an "epic failure."

Inspired by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's success in "getting Brexit done", Mme Le Pen vowed to return France to "common sense". Millions of Frenchmen and women wish her well.

Boris pulls it off! Brits OK Brexit, reject EU, hard-left socialism

Yes, folks, another step on the road to the status quo ante, and another defeat for the liberal, progressive one-worlders. In yesterday's "Brexit election", the British Conservative Party, led by Boris Johnson -- Britain's version of Donald Trump -- won a commanding majority of seats in the UK Parliament.

Mr Johnson now has a clear and strong mandate to fulfill his plan to take Once-great Britain out of the European Union next month. In other words, he will, as promised, "get Brexit done!" Speaking to his supporters last night, the Prime Minister said, and I quote, "We pulled it off!" In his speech last night he said he would work "flat out" and lead a "people's government". Gotta love that expression of populism!

With just one constituency (St Ives, in Cornwall) left to declare, the Conservatives have 364 MPs, Labour 203, the Scottish National Party 48, Liberal Democrats 11 and the Democratic Unionist Party (Ulster Protestant baskets) 8.

Labour was swept aside by the Conservatives in its traditional heartlands in the Midlands and north-eastern England, and lost six seats in Wales. The increase for the Scottish Nationalists is interesting, as they have promised to push a referendum on Scottish independence. Mr Johnson has suggested he might allow that, keeping in mind what happened in Canada when the Québécois were given a chance to opt out of confederation, and decided they'd rather keep their Canadian passports and Canadian dollars.

In a result which I found very satisfactory, Nigel Dodds, the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party at Westminster, lost his Belfast North seat to Sinn Fein. Sinn Fein has 7 MPs, Plaid Cymru (the Welsh nationalist party) 4, and the Social Democratic and Labour Party (= Páirtí Sóisialta Daonlathach an Lucht Oibre -- a social-democratic, Irish nationalist political party in Northern Ireland) 2. The Green Party and Alliance Party have one each. Nigel Farage's Brexit Party, which triumphed in the summer's European Parliament elections, failed to win any Westminster seats.

Jeremy Corbyn, the neo-Marxist leader of the Labour Party, did not resign, but said he would not fight another election as Labour leader. Britain's commentariat, along with many in his own party, lay the blame for last night's defeat squarely at Mr Corbyn's feet. He steered the party hard aport (= to the left, landlubbers!), and was accused of tolerating, if not abetting the wave of anti-Semitism which has splashed Britain in recent months. Strange for a party covertly funded by George Soros, but the cliché -- politics makes strange bedfellows -- is true enough.

All in all, a very satisfactory result. Walt congratulates Mr Johnson, and suggests that American Dumbocrats take note. The Prez was not wrong when he said recently (see "Featured Post") that the majority of Americans will not support a party which espouses extreme socialism. Let's see if any of the Democratic presidential wannabes are paying attention.

Wot? Brexit ain't done yet? Walt explicates the muddification

The story so far... Way back in June 2016, the people of the so-called United Kingdom got a rare chance to vote on an issue, as opposed to for or against a political party. After years of dithering, the Conservative government of the day, led by the Rt. Hon. David Cameron, called a referendum on whether or not the country should remain in the European Union. This was the result.

Instead of "country", let's say countries. London, the capital region (and (((international banking))) centre) voted to stay in the EU. So did Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The rest of England and Wales voted to take back control of Britain's affairs (particularly her borders) from the globalist Euro-weenies. Since there were more non-London English voters than all the others combined, the overall result was nearly 52% in favour of what became known as Brexit.

The first lesson the British people learned -- should have known already -- is that the people don't actually rule or govern anything. The ruling is done by governments, not the people wot put them there. So it fell to the government of Theresa May (who succeeded Mr Cameron, who had unwisely campaigned on the "remain" side) to make a deal with the other 27 (or so) members of the EU to put the borders back in place and disentangle the great ball of red tape devised by the Brussels sprouts.

A coalition of one-worlders, loony lefties and minor parties clamoured for a do-over of the referendum, and generally obstructed Ms May's efforts, so she called a snap general election in June 2017. It resulted in a Conservative minority government supported by the Ulster Protestant baskets who call themselves the Democratic Unionist Party.

Subsequent UK–EU withdrawal negotiations resulted in a withdrawal agreement in November 2018, but the UK parliament voted against ratifying it three (count `em, three) times. The Labour Party wanted any agreement to maintain a customs union, while many Conservatives opposed the agreement's financial settlement on the UK's share of EU financial obligations, as well as the "Irish backstop" designed to prevent border controls between Ulster and the Republic of Ireland.

Ed. here. I don't understand that last bit. You mean the Protestant Ulstermen refuse to be part of Catholic Ireland, but they don't want a hard border between the two parts of the island? Exactly.

In March 2019, the UK parliament voted for May to ask the EU to delay Brexit until October 31st, so a better deal could be sought. Having failed to pass her agreement, Ms May resigned as prime minister in July and was succeeded by the Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson. He sought to replace parts of the agreement and vowed to leave the EU by the new deadline, with or without an agreement. On October 17th, his government and the EU agreed on a revised withdrawal plan, with provisions for a special status for Northern Ireland. The British parliament approved the new agreement, but rejected plans to pass it into law before the Hallowe'en deadline, and forcing Mr Johnson's government to ask for a third Brexit delay, to 31 January 2019.

So everything's fine now, right? Ed. Errr, no. Having suffered a couple of defections along the way, Mr Johnson heads a minority government, dependent on the support of the DUP. With no guarantee that the enabling legislation will be passed by March 31st... or ever... Mr Johnson wanted an election to put an end to the uncertainty, one way or the other. The head of the Labour Party, Jeremy Lenin [Corby, shurely. Ed.] refused, but on Tuesday did a flip-flop and directed his members to join the Tories in approving an early election to break the deadlock. Brits will go to the polls on December 12th. Merry Christmas! [Happy Holidays!, shurely. Ed.]

Brexit has turned into a tussle for the soul of the country, and will be the main issue on which weary voters will have to decide. Mr Johnson's Conservatives tout his deal with the EU and claim they can get Brexit done at last, while Comrade Corbyn's Labourites are promising to negotiate a "softer" Brexit, following which they will give the British public the final say by... wait for it... holding a second referendum!

Will this vote break the Brexit deadlock? Who knows? [Certainly not you! Ed.] The rise of smaller parties means the possibility of a hung parliament is greater now than in previous decades. If the December election fails to deliver a party with an overall majority, Brexit could go in a number of different directions. A hung parliament with a minority Conservative government would likely mean more of the same paralysis that has dogged British politics for the past year. If Labour emerges as the largest party, that makes a second Brexit referendum more likely, given that's also the ambition of the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish National Party.

And even if the Conservatives won a majority on the back of their promise to "get Brexit done," the saga won't be over. Mr Johnson would be able to get his deal through Parliament by the next deadline, but that's only the start. Months of negotiations with the EU about a future trading partnership would certainly follow, and the risk of a no-deal Brexit could return all over again if a trade deal isn't concluded by the end of the Brexit transition period in 2020. So while this vote will likely set a new Brexit course for Britain, it would be naive to think the issue will be off the agenda by the beginning of 2020. UPDATED: Another victory for the right! This time it's Greece!

For some reason, European (and North American) liberals have their hair on fire about this man, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, being elected on Sunday as Prime Minister of Greece. Can't be because his name is a mouthful for non-speakers of Greek. Maybe it's the optics of his victory salute. Or, more likely, it's the fact that his conservative New Democracy party delivered a body blow to pinko Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras after a tumultuous four years of socialist misrule, following the trend set last year by the Italians.

The pollsters and (((controlled media))) were taken by surprise, of course, having predicted Mr Tsipras would win the snap election called a few weeks ago. They were out of touch, it seems, with the feelings of nearly 40% of Greek voters, tired of crippling austerity (imposed by the European Union after Greece nearly crashed out of the Euro), not to mention high unemployment and the problems caused by millions of "refugees" and asylum-seekers washing up on the shores of the Greek islands.

Mr Mitsotakis said he had a clear mandate for change, pledging more investments and fewer taxes. "I am committed to fewer taxes, many investments, for good and new jobs, and growth which will bring better salaries and higher pensions in an efficient state," he said in his victory speech. Although Mr Mitsotakis is regarded as a moderate, New Democracy was accused by the lefties of "harbouring members with right-wing views", including many who left the ultra-right Golden Dawn party to back a winner and get rid of the liberals.

Strategic voting was in evidence with early results suggesting Golden Dawn might not reach the 3% threshold needed to enter the Greek parliament under the country's proportional representation system. It's possible, however, that Mr Mitsotakis may need their support should New Democracy fail to garner enough votes to form a majority government. Stay tuned.

Allowing millions of 3rd Worlders into Europe "cardinal mistake": Putin

When it comes to the wisdom (or otherwise) of filling your country with unassimilable Muslim "refugees" and asylum-seekers, Vladimir Putin is on the right track. Speaking at the beginning of the G20 summit in Osaka, the Russian president declared recently that liberalism in Europe and the US has "outlived its purpose".

The Father of All the Russias [Archaism! Ed.] criticised Western views on gay rights, immigration and multiculturalism, all of which he sees as parts of an attack on traditional family values. Speaking to the Financial Times, Mr Putin said the "liberal idea" was on its way out, as the public has turned its back on "social justice" issues. And he called German chancellor Angela Merkel's 2017 decision to allow more than a million "refugees" into her country (and thus into the European Union) a "cardinal mistake".

President Putin said, "[Liberals] cannot simply dictate anything to anyone just like they have been attempting to do over the recent decades. This liberal idea presupposes that nothing needs to be done. That migrants can kill, plunder and rape with impunity because their rights as migrants have to be protected. Every crime must have its punishment. The liberal idea has become obsolete. It has come into conflict with the interests of the overwhelming majority of the population."

Indeed. But do you hear anything like that from any of the mainstream political leaders in western Europe or the AABC countries? Sadly, no. Walt would like to hear one, just one of the 20+ hopefuls looking to lose the 2020 election say at least that it's time to have a "conversation" about the wisdom of the Democrats' liberal (and worse) policies. But I'm not holding my breath.

What (he asks) should traditional Catholics think of nationalism and the populist movement? Is there a place there for the Kingship of Christ? Is the populist movement -- which the lamestream press persist in demonizing as "far-right", "extremist", "neo-Nazi", yada yada yada -- something which a good Catholic can support, embrace, and take part in? Mr Matt's answer is the same as that which Walt has been preaching for months -- a resounding YES!

One-worlders quake with fear as nationalists win elections everywhere

George Soros, his puppets and minions, are much disturbed this week by results (actual and anticipated) of elections in India, Australia and the European Union. Around the world, nationalism -- not "white nationalism", but nationalism pure and simple -- is on the rise, along with anti-immigrant backlash and pushback against the globalists' one world, "new world order" agenda.

In India, the world's largest democracy (TM), exit polls suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on course to win the general election which has been in progress for the last two months. The official results will be announced on Thursday, but expectations are that the BJP will emerge even stronger than after its 2014 landslide, with a majority in the Lok Sabha (lower house of parliament) a possibility.

Why does this bother the gliberals? Who cares what happens in India? To find the answer, look up "Hindutva" in the dictionary. It means "Hinduness", thus "Hindu nationalism", not "Indian nationalism". (There can be no such thing as "nationalism" in a state with such a diversity of languages, races and religions!) For Mr Modi and his people (Walt uses the term advisedly) it's not "India first!" but "HINDUS first!", to the exclusion of Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and even Sikhs. The spectre of more sectarian strife, and even another shooting war with Muslim Pakistan, looms. The prospects for peaceful coexistence in south Asia are just about nil.

Meanwhile, a couple of thousand miles to the southeast, Australia's ruling conservative coalition won a "miracle" victory in last week's general election, stunning Antipodean pollsters, the (((controlled media))) and the opposition Labour party, which, like Hellery Clinton's Democrats, had been seen as certain to win. Apparently Aussie voters didn't buy into Labour's progressive plans to fight climate change and "inequality".

And there was the immigration issue, which proved to be a ballot question for the "quiet Australians" who fear being called "racist" but fear even more Labour's proposed "humanitarian" relaxation of strict border controls which have kept boatloads of bogus refugees on islands off the Australian coast. The Financial Times quotes Duncan McDonnell, a professor of politics at Griffith University in Queensland, as saying, "The heart of Australian politics beats on the right. It's a conservative country and I think there was a trend in this election in which voters asked 'if it isn't broke, why fix it?'"

And now we come to Europe, where opinion polls show populist forces set to make major gains in the European Parliament election to be held later this week. All of Europe's mainstream, pro-EU political alliances are expected to lose seats, with the big winners likely to be the Europe of Nations and Freedom group, anchored by Matteo Salvini's League in Italy and Marine Le Pen's National Rally in France.

Take note of the name "Europe of Nations and Freedom". The group rejects absolute the idea of a "post-national" Europe run by a supra-national government at Brussels which would have the power to override the wishes of the different peoples of the different nations which comprise the EU. As the sign says, their ideas of "power to the people" and "a Europe of free nations" are spreading everywhere in Europe.

Last Saturday, Matteo Salvini led a rally of right-wing populist leaders in Milan, as they campaign for the transformation of European politics. Sig. Salvini, Minister of the Interior and head of the League party, is at the forefront of a growing movement of nationalist leaders seeking to free the 28 nations of the EU from what he calls the "illegal occupation" of Brussels.

Sig. Salvini was joined by ten other nationalist leaders, including Marine Le Pen of France’s National Rally and Joerg Meuthen of the Alternativ für Deutschland. The event was a major tour de force for the expanding movement ahead of the vote that will take place in all 28 EU nations on May 23rd-26th.

In his speech, Sig. Salvini decried unchecked migration, pledging to close Europe's borders to migrants. He also attacked Islam, saying it mistreats women. He said Turkey would never be a part of Europe and rejected the label of extremists for the leaders with him. "In this piazza, there are no extremists," he said. "There are no racists. There are no fascists. If anything in Italy and in Europe, the difference is between who looks ahead, between who speaks of the future...instead of making trials of the past."

"White nationalist" party comes within 0.2% of winning Finnish election

It was a real photo Finnish! What are the results? [Got the pun in the very first sentence, eh. Ed.] Final results from last week's election in Finland gave the left(ish) Social Democratic Party the win, beating the populist -- if you're a liberal, add "racist", "white nationalist", etc - Finns Party by an RCH -- just 0.2% of the vote.

The campaign centered on Finland's generous welfare system, "climate change" and immigration. Finland has not experienced the flood of "refugees" and asylum-seekers which has inundated more southerly parts of Europe. Only 6.6% of the population is foreign-born. Controlling immigration became an election issue only recently. But the Finns Party attracted voters from small towns and villages worried about being overrun by non-white Muslims, especially following highly publicized incidents of sexual assaults by migrants.

Buoyed by support from aforesaid smaller places and rural areas, the Finns Party garnered 17.5% of the popular vote. The Social Democratic Party (read: pinkos) pipped them at the post, however, with 17.7% support, after campaigning against austerity imposed by the outgoing centre-right government. The conservative National Coalition Party, which was part of that centre-right coalition, garnered 17%. That's the price conservatives pay, then, for fighting amongst themselves. Republicans take note!

Why is Walt telling you this? Because the win of the populist Finns Party has repercussions for Europe as a hole. [Ed., don't correct that.] On july 1st, Finland is set to take over the rotating presidensity of the European Union. European liberals and one-worlders (Hello, George Soros!) were watching the performance of the Finns Party closely. French President Emmanuel Macron and other Euroweenies are already clutching their pearls at the prospect of other euroskeptic and nationalist parties making strong gains in next month's EU parliamentary elections. Stay tuned.

To help you keep score (and know who to cheer for, if so inclined), Ed. has found this helpful map (updated last September) showing the rise of nationalism in Europe. Next month's EU elections will be a good test, since all EU countries -- even the UK if it hasn't Brexited by then -- will go to the polls at the same time and over the same issues. The Finns Party is just one part of the nationalist bloc of European parties aiming to challenge EU policies on migration, security, family and the environment. Walt wishes them good luck!

Right-wing populism on the march: today Estonia, tomorrow ???

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are three countries on the Baltic Sea that no-one has ever heard of who is not from there or has family there. For most of their recent history they have, against their will, been part of some other country: Poland, Russia/USSR, or sometimes each other.

They were independent between 1918 and 1941, then had to spend a half-century under the heel of the Soviet Union before being let loose on the fall of Communism. Then they were welcomed into the European Union, only to discover that they exchanged dictatorship from Moscow for dictatorship from Brussels.

The example of Brexit seems to have woken up the Estonians, if not the others, to the possibility that if they had a new government -- of the right rather than the usual centrist coalitions -- they might just be able to get out of the EU, to mount an "Estxit", if you will. A referendum on whether to stay or go was one of the campaign promises of Estonia's right-wing Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE), which came close to a major upset in today's parliamentary elections.

First place went to the centre-right Reform Party, led by Kaja Kallas, who is on track to become Estonia's first female prime minister. The Reformers got 28.8% of the vote, upsetting the ruling Centre Party (centre-left, in reality, like Canada's Liberals) who got 23%. The EKRE more than doubled their share of the popular vote, finishing with 17.8%, good for third place.

As in the USA, the lamestream media and pollsters were surprised and embarrassed by the surge of the EKRE, who capitalized on growing anti-immigrant sentiment and concerns that the tiny nation (pop. 1.3 million) could be swallowed up by a federalised EU.

Today's Telegraph quotes a 65-year-old voter from Tartu, Estonia's second-largest city, as saying he voted for EKRE over fears that the country was losing its identity. "The EU has forced quotas on us, to attract thousands of migrants. Members of our parliament just push buttons, rubber stamping all the laws that come out of Brussels. I voted EKRE because they stand for the preservation of our nation, and our Estonian culture and language."

The success of the EKRE mirrors that of right-wing, populist parties throughout the length and breadth of Europe, not to mention the Excited States of America where liberals are whistling past the graveyard more loudly than ever these days. Last week, a torch-lit march through the Estonia capital, Tallinn, drew some 10,000 patriots in a spectacle which the Telegraph says "bore a striking resemblance to the Unite the Right 'Tiki torch' marches held by Trump supporters in Charlottesville in 2017."

The rise in support for EKRE is sweeping away smaller parties that traditionally make up a centrist coalition in many European countries. The Telegraph quotes Dr Allan Sikk [sic] of the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies as saying "uneasy bedfellows" from across the political spectrum may need to work together in order to keep EKRE out of power, just as they kept Marine Le Pen's Front National out of power in France.

Ms Kallas is going to face difficult negotiations to form a ruling coalition, particularly if she tries to do so without the EKRE. The other Estonian parties have ruled out any sort of coalition with the EKRE. Ms Kallas says everything is on the table, including a possible deal to give the EKRE a seat at the cabinet table. Today Estonia. Tomorrow? Stay tuned!

Memo to Mad Max Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada: Did you note the English translation of EKRE? Conservative People's Party of Estonia! Don't you think "Conservative People's Party" has a nice ring to it? It couldn't be confused with a left-wing "people's party", eh. Sounds right to me!

Footnote: Attractive blonde right-wing politicians, like Kaja Kallas and the PPC's Lauara-Lynn Tyler Thompson, seem to attract not just attention but votes! If I were a Republican [Aren't you? Ed.] I'd be encouraging Melania Trump to run against... ohhh... Nancy Pelosi or Fauxcahontas or Hellery... hell, any of those hagged-out liberal bitches. Get the male votes and forget about the wimmin!

French ambassador to Hungary speaks truth about Orbán, Muslims, risks firing

According to the BFMTV website, Emmanuel Macron, the diminutive president of the French Republic, has his hair on fire over a confidential note from Eric Fournier, the French ambassador to Hungary, which has mysteriously been leaked to the meeja. In a memo to the Élysée Palace (where M Macron lives with his motherly spouse), M Fournier praised the migrant policies of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, calling him a "model for Europe".

M Fournier described the Hungarian migration policy as "having anticipated the problems posed by illegal migratory movements", and excoriated "Anglo-Saxon and French media", saying, "Any democratically elected regime that does not correspond to their worldview [is called] 'populist'." That, of course, is the latest term of opprobrium used to describe the policies of leaders like Donald Trump and Doug Ford. Why? Because, to the surprise of the gliberals, "populist" policies have proven themselves popular!

In the note, which was copied to top officials of the European Union, Ambassador Fournier condemned what he called the "Magyarphobie" [Hungarian-phobia] of many western European politicians. And he defended the Hungarian government against allegations of anti-Semitism, saying that the "true modern anti-Semitism" belongs to "Muslims of France and Germany."

When the French broadcaster approached Président Macron for comment on the leaked note, he slammed his ambassador, saying, "In no way do I share the words that you just mentioned and that you have revealed." He added that if such comments had been made in public the situation would be very different. "Cet ambassadeur aurait-il tenu publiquement ces propos," he said, "il aurait été révoqué sur le champ." Translated, he meant that M Fournier would have found himself back in Paris, up to his neck in what the French call dou-dou.

1000s of migrants turned back, left to die in desert

You think -- or rather, the lamestream media leads you to believe -- that the Paranoid States of America treats illegal immigrants badly? Being detained for a few weeks and then given a hearing, with at least a chance of being allowed to stay is nothing, nothing compared with what happens to border jumpers in other parts of the world. Like Africa, for instance, where this picture was taken.

This is what happened to more than 13,000 would-be "refugees" and aslyum-seekers who tried to cross from central Africa -- shitholes like Congo and Nigeria -- northward through Niger and Mali into Algeria, from where they would go to Libya, get on rickety boats and then be rescued by well-meaning Europeans and dumped onto the shores of Italy, Greece or Malta, who only occasionally turn them back. Getting across the Mediterranean is nothing compared to the difficulty of getting across Algeria, according to the latest report to have the do-gooders and (((controlled media))) wringing their hands. In the past 14 months, newly-released statistics say, the Algerian government -- Algeria is a majority Muslim state, by the way -- has abandoned more than 13,000 people in the Sahara Desert, expelling them without food or water and forcing them to walk, sometimes at gunpoint, under a blistering sun. Some get their just desserts [Let's not make light of this. Ed.] and die.

Algeria has increased the number and rate of mass expulsions since last fall, as the European Union renewed pressure on north African countries to head off migrants going north to Europe. One of the "Brussels sprouts" (as Private Eye calls them) said the EU was aware of what Algeria was doing, but that sovereign countries can expel migrants as long as they comply with international law. Quite true. And that goes for the USA and even Canada, although Canuckistan's Liberal government seems unaware that they could actually close their border if they wanted to.

Algeria provides no figures for its involuntary expulsions, but the number of people crossing on foot to Niger has been increasing since the International Organization for Migration started counting in May 2017, when 135 people were dropped, to as high as 2888 in April 2018. In all, according to the IOM, a total of 11,276 men, women and children survived the march. At least another 2500 were forced on a similar trek into neighbouring Mali, with an unknown number succumbing along the way.

Just to be clear, the key word in the IOM's full name is "for" -- not "against". According to its own website, the organization "is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners...to [promote] humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all." That's "promote", meaning "encourage", "support", "assist", the opposite of "discourage" or "deter", in spite of the fact that literally millions of mostly Muslim economic migrants from the Middle East and Africa are overrunning Europe, to the detriment of all.

Merkel government could fall over failed open-border policy

June is proving to be a worse-than-usual month for discredited German Chancellor [pro tem] Angela Merkel as she struggles to keep her government from breaking up over her disastrous open borders policy, under which well over a million undesirable and unassimilable Muslim "refugees" and asylum-seekers have invaded das Vaterland in less than four years.

Frau Merkel is in a stand-off with her ally, Horst Seehofer, leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian sister-party to her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and now Interior Minister in her tottering federal government. The row is centered on Herr Seehofer's asylum system reform plan, under which migrants who have already been registered as asylum-seekers in another European Union country would be turned away at the German border. Frau Merkel opposes such a ban, fearing that other countries will impose similar border controls.

Yesterday the CSU leadership agreed to delay introducing their entry ban until after a European summit to be held at month-end, allowing Frau Merkel time to seek an EU-wide solution. The compromise means Herr Seehofer can introduce immediate expulsion for people who have already been turned back at Germany's borders. "We wish the chancellor much luck," Herr Seehofer said at a presser in Munich. "This is not about winning time or anything like that but rather that in July, if there is no result at European level, we must implement this – that is a question for the functioning of our constitutional state."

Also on Monday, President Donald Trump, defending his own tough anti-immigrant polices, waded into the Germany debate on Monday with a series of tweets criticising Frau Merkel's open-border policy as a "big mistake" that had fuelled crime in Europe. POTUS wrote: "We don't want what is happening with immigration in Europe to happen with us!" And then this:

Walt congratulates Viktor Orbán on Hungarian election win

A wave of nationalism -- make that white nationalism -- and populism continues to roll over eastern Europe, making the elites of the European Union and western Europe (Hello! Angela Merkel) nervous. The latest victory for the forces of ethnic solidarity and anti-Islamization came on the weekend, when Hungary's conservative-populist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, won a third term in office in a landslide. The farther-right Jobbik party finished second.

Mr Orbán's party, Fidesz, won not just a decisive majority but (along with some smaller allies) an outright super-majority, making possible changes to Hungary's constitution. During the campaign, Mr Orbán promised to push through legislation described by his government as the "Stop (((Soros))) package". "The reason we submitted this package before the elections," he told the meeja today, "is in order to allow the Hungarian voters to cast their vote knowing our intention on this. This has happened and we believe we are mandated by this election to pass this law."

Among other things, the proposed laws would require NGOs that work on migration-related issues to register with the interior ministry. They could be rejected on a national security basis after vetting by security agencies. Any foreign funding for migration-related activities would be subjected to a 25% tax.

Mr Orbán ran his campaign on the single issue of migration, and blamed a network of the political opposition, NGOs and critical media of being part of a plot orchestrated by the Hungarian-American billionaire (((George Soros))) to send millions of non-Christian (read: Muslim) "refugees" and asylum-seekers to Hungary.

Prime Minister Orbán has been one of the most determined foes of the compulsory migrant quota regime which the European Union is trying to shove down the throats (or some such orifice) of Europeans, at the behest of liberals and anti-Christian NGOs. Their pro-Muslim campaigns have become the focal point for an increasingly influential eurosceptic, anti-mass migration alliance within the EU, centred on the Visegrád Four countries -- the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary.

The top politicians and bureaucrats of the European Union, along with the (((controlled media))), have their hair on fire over Mr Orbán's win. One newspaper, however, will not be joining the rending of garments and nashing of teeth. That would be the 80-year-old Magyar Nemzet and its sister station Lanchid Radio, which are closing immediately due to financial problems.

Viktor Orbán is best known on this side of the Atlantic for his robust defence of Christian Europe against the tsunami of Muslim migrants washing over the continent. Unlike President Trump, he succeeded in getting a wall build along the southern border of his country. The erection of the wall and strengthening of border security cut illegal immigration by over 99%, while western European countries like Germany and Sweden put the welcome mat out for all the flotsam and jetsam of the Middle East and Africa with disastrous results.

The Orbán viktory (geddit?) should serve as confirmation and encouragement to POTUS and all others campaigning for an end to the Islamization of the West. A tip of Walt's hat to Mr Orbán and a thumb of Walt's nose to (((George Soros))).

British general election: why now?

Under Britain’s Fixed-Term Parliaments Act, passed to get rid of the uncertainty under the unwritten constitution, under which an election could be called at any time, elections are now to be held every five years. BUT (and it's a big one) the prime minister can call a snap election if two-thirds of lawmakers vote for it. Today, the Rt Hon Theresa May announced that she would ask the House of Commons to back her call for an election to be held on June 8th, three years before the next scheduled date. Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said he would support the request.

Walt wonders why. Ms May was never elected Prime Minister, inheriting the position from David Cameron, who resigned shortly after the majority of English and Welsh Britons (but not Scots or Ulstermen) voted for Brexit -- secession from the European Union. But then, the British PM is not directly elected anyway. He/she is simply the leader of the party with the largest number of seats in the House of Commons, which happens to be Ms May's Conservatives. The June election is highly unlikely to result in a change of government.

Ms May's explanation is that since Britons voted to leave the EU in June, the country has come together, but politicians have not. She said the political divisions "risk our ability to make a success of Brexit.... Our opponents believe that because the government's majority is so small, our resolve will weaken and that they can force us to change course" on getting out of the EU. "They are wrong," she said. "They underestimate our determination to get the job done and I am not prepared to let them endanger the security of millions of working people across the country."

That doesn't sound right to me. The real opposition to Brexit comes not from Mr Corbyn's Labour Party, which is even more divided than Ms May's Tories, but from the liberal one-worlders who dominate the British meeja and are strong in both parties. These anti-Brexit forces, aided and funded by George Soros, were in the streets (literally) immediately after the referendum, demanding a do-over. Petitions bearing millions (literally) of signatures have been presented to Parliament. But, as in the USA, the people have spoken and there will be no redo.

But what if, what if Ms May's party loses the June election, or finds itself in a minority position in the next House of Commons? Ms May, who is personally opposed to leaving the EU, but obliged to follow the expressed will of the people, has asked for a mandate to negotiate the type of Brexit that many pro-Leave MPs desire: i.e., the UK remains in the single market but does not sign up to the Freedom of Movement Act which was the reason the majority of Britons voted to take their country out. If she doesn't get that mandate, she could interpret the loss as a signal that the British people have changed their mind about Brexit, and call a halt to the whole thing.

The water is muddied further by the upcoming French presidential election. The election of Marine Le Pen would be widely viewed as a precursor to a "Frexit" -- the withdrawal of France from the EU. If France goes, what would be the point of Britain staying in. The future of Europe should be much clearer by the summer solstice.

From Europe this weekend, we're getting mixed signals as to the appeal of right-wing populism.

In yesterday's rerun of the rigged presidential election earlier this year, Austrian Freedom Party candidate Norbert Hofer lost to the Green Party's Alexander Van der Bellen by a margin of about 5%. No recount is being demanded. It seems that many Austrian voters are still fearful of being labelled "neo-Nazis", so have decided to sell out their country and their culture to the forces of globalism and multiculturalism. But, since the presidency of Austria is only a ceremonial position, this temporary setback doesn't matter all that much.

There's better news from Italy. Pinkish Prime Minister Matteo Renzi yesterday announced he would resign, following a stinging defeat on his proposals for constitutional reform. His defeat is seen as a body blow to a European Union already reeling under anti-establishment anger that led to Brexit -- the shock exit of UK from the club in June.

Mark Willis, head of an investment consultancy, told Thomson Reuters, "It's not very hard to see a new election, and it's not very hard to see the [opposition] 5-Star Movement taking power and they've basically said they want to get out of either the European Union or the euro or both. For Italy, establishing stable governance and a plan to guide the nation is of critical importance given the fragility of the economy, challenging policies and the liquidity problems in the banking system."

Next to France, where even-more-pinkish Président François Hollande said last week he would not seek re-election next year. M Hollande is the least popular president in the history of any of the French Republics. His decision to not face the people again is the first time in history that a French president has bailed rather than let the people of France judge him on his record.

To understand why M Hollande shrinks from running again, Walt presents an old video, first posted in October 2012, then banned from YouTube for a time (although it has now reappeared). This is a "Declaration of War", posted as a kind of founding document by members of Génération Identitaire -- young, white, Europeans agitating in France and across the continent against immigration and Islam, and for a future rooted deep in Europe's white Christian past.

As an older person proud of his European ancestry, I never fail to be inspired and encouraged by this video. It gives me hope for the youth of Europe. I just hope that the youth of North America will be long in catching up. There are English subtitles for those who don't understand the language of Molière.
