Turns out that South Carolina is not like Pennsylvania or Arizona. Truckloads of ballots did not arrive in the middle of the night to enable Nikki Haley to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. [Did you make that up? Ed.]

The lickspittle media raced to be the first to declare a result, with ABC the winner, calling Trump the winner at approximately 7:00:09 EST. Here are the final numbers.

President Trump: 451,905 votes (59.8%), winning all 44 delegates to the GOP convention

Nikki Haley: 298,681 (39.5%), winning NO delegates

Ron DeSantis: 2951 votes (0.4%)

Vivek Ramaswamy: 728 votes (<0.1%). 

Walt's percentage of correct predictions (see yesterday's post): .990.

So... no surprises, then. Just like the Holiday Inn. Walt notes two things.

First... the Republican Party belongs to President Trump, whether the RINOs and never-Trumpers (Hello, David Frum) like it or not. Whatever demographic or regional divisions may have existed in the past have been largely swept away. As proof of this, I offer the prospect of Senator Tim Scott being offered the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket.

Second... the Dumbocrats must now be seriiously considering showing President Brandon the exit door, while there is still time [about a minute and a half. Ed.] to find another candidate for the presidensity.

Some Dems are putting on a brave face, saying Demented Joe is the only one who could beat the Orange Man, but the operative word there is "could"... not "will". If you're an independent voter and have to choose between two old white guys with health and legal issues, which one would you trust to pilot the ship of state through the stormy seas that lie ahead. [That's enough metaphors. Ed.]

That brings us back to "Waiting in the wings... or maybe just outside the window?", WWW 22/1/24. Mrs Barrack Hussein Obama would be a plausible candidate, but my guess is that she would only throw her do-rag in the ring once Brandon is tail-lights, and if Deep State has everything rigged so that she couldn't possibly lose.

Ms Haley vows to go on to Michigan and Super Tuesday. Whether or not she is able to find the support -- especially financial support -- necessary to do so doesn't matter. She was effectively cooked -- fried -- last night. After Super Tuesday is when the Democratic long knives will come out. Stay tuned.

UPDATED: Waiting in the wings... or maybe just outside the window?

With President Trump's near-certain lock on the Republican nomination, the prognosticators (and people who like making predictions), are turning their alleged minds to the possibility that someone other than Joe Brandon might lead the Dumbocrats to the brink of disaster.

In "Waiting for Hellery" (WWW 10/8/23) and again in Formerly "'Demented Joe', now 'DESPERATE Joe'" (WWW 11/12/23), Walt suggested the DNC was setting things up for a third (and ABF) at-bat for Mrs Bill. 

Over the weekend, a big chunk of the commentariat has floated a trial balloon for the wife of the Prez. The talk is that Camela Harris wasn't the perfect diversity candidate, because (a) she's not black enough and (b) she can't put together two coherent sentences. Michelle Obama, however, looks black enough (although she doesn't talk black), and, unlike Ms Harris, has a black(ish) husband. 

And there's more. The Obamas come from Chicago, which everyone knows is an exemplar of the peace and prosperity that can be yours, dear American reader, if only you vote for the party whose icon is an ass.

EXCLUSIVE: Kamala Harris speaks her mind

There has been a lot of talk, in the last few weeks, of moves by Democratic Party insiders to push Kamala Harris out of the Vice-Presidency, to make room for a woman who would be a suitable replacement for President Brandon for the 2024 election, or sooner, if his "retirement" can be conveniently and decently arranged.

Some of the rats in Ms Harris' office have already jumped ship. It was announced last week that Symone Sanders, the Veep's chief spokesthingy, would soon depart. Peter Velz, her director of press operations, and Vince Evans, the deputy director of the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs [Seriously? That's his title? Ed.] are also said to be looking for the exit door.

What was originally inside-the-Beltway chatter about the competence of the first Indo-Jamaican-American Vice-President has spilled into view, threatening to chip away at Democratic morale. It is rumoured that Ms Harris would refuse to analyze briefing materials set forth by employees, but then scold them if she appeared unprepared. 

One senior staffer allegedly told WaPo, "It's clear that you're not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work. With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you're constantly sort of propping up a bully and it's not really clear why." 

As is well known, Walt is a champion of fairness and justice for all. Audi alteram partem! That's my motto! [It means: My other car's an Audi. Ed.] So, as a public service, I persuaded Ms Harris to sit down for a little heart-to-heart. Here's her side of the story.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm in this rat race. It's not for the money, believe me. My husband is the money-maker in the family. You start in politics because you've got ideas. You want to try them out, to help people. 

At first, you're gratified by the response you get. If you win, you're deliriously happy. Then the honeymoon is over. After that, it's "gimme, gimme, gimme." Nobody's really interested in you or your program, especially if you're a woman, especially a woman of colour, especially a woman of two colours!

When I was campaigning for the Democratic nomination, I finally realized that the game wasn't worth it. I grew to hate all those people who lined up to meet me in city after city. It was all a fake. Fake enthusiasm drummed up by the back-room men. 

 The women in this country are full of shit. If they liked me as much as they claimed, why didn't they all vote for me? Anyone with an ounce of brains could see I was a hell of a lot smarter than Biden -- he has Alzheimer's, for God's sake -- and that Jew Sanders or that fag Buttigeig. I mean really! 

They were all liars and hypocrites. It was all lip service to the women's movement until the chips were down, and then all the women just peed in their pants and left me flat.

I think most women are afraid to have a woman a heartbeat away from the presidency, let alone in the Oval Office. They think I would crack up in a crisis and cry. Or that I have cranky moods when I have my period. As far as I'm concerned, most women are small-minded, petty, insensitive and stupid, especially the "Squad" and those bitches on "The View". They are all shits, not worth a dime. All of them.

I'm going to jump ship just as soon as my appointment to the Supreme Court comes through. (As President of the Senate, I can vote for my own confirmation, you know!) Then let them appoint Mrs Bill Clinton or, God help us, the lovely Michelle. See what happens then!

Kamala Harris: about as Black as Barack Obama

Much is being made by the Dumbocrats and the running dogs of the liberal media about the supposed "Blackness" of Kamala Harris, the one hoping Joe Biden gets elected and then dies. But, as Walt has pointed out in "Parsing the blackness of Kamala Harris" (WWW 28/8/20), Ms Harris ain't all dat Black!

She is not the first "African-American" politician to be painted as more black than is the case. [I notice you restrained yourself from saying "touched with the tar brush". Ed.] Here's a short excerpt from Obama's America, by Dinesh D'Souza (Regnery 2012).

From the liberal side: he is the first African-American president. This is probably the most common way that Obama is understood. It is certainly the way that Obama biographer David Remnick understood him in his admiring book, The Bridge. Yet there are others who insist that Obama is not really black. That's because he never sat at a segregated lunch counter, nor are any of his ancestors descended from slaves.

This is in sharp contrast with Michelle Obama, who traces her roots back to a Carolina slave plantation. Her husband, however, grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia with multiple visits to Kenya, Indonesia and Pakistan. By his own achowledgment, he didn't live the typical Black American experience.

Interestingly, as president, Obama has shown virtually no interest in black issues, from affirmative action to hate crimes to inner-city poverty. He ignores those issues, raising the hackles of black activists like Tavis Smiley, Ishmael Reed, Michael Eric Dyson and Cornel West.

Reed charges, "It's obvious by now that Barack Obama is treating black Americans like one treats a demented uncle, brought out from his room to be ridiculed and scolded before company from time to time." West contends that Obama "doesn't care about the black poor.... His policies are generating misery amongst poor people, disproportionately black and brown." West terms Obama's policies "the new Jim Crow."

Let's see. "Ancestors descended from slaves": not in Ms Harris' family tree. "Never sat at a segregated lunch counter": nope, nor any other lunch counter, probably. And as a state prosecutor in California, she usually sat on the other side of the courtroom from the black folks. Walt, along with all those black activists, can hardly wait for Kamala Harris to expound at length on how she has "lived the typical black American experience."

Aunt Jemima to get anti-racism makeover

I see Aunt Jemima is about to get the Darkie/Darlie treatment. For those who don't know how Darkie Toothpaste was gradually changed to "Darlie" so the cartoon character brand identifier wouldn't look quite so black, check "Politically correct toothpaste makes your smile brighter", WWW 21/1/12.

Now, in the wake of the "protests" (read: "riots") that have followed the police killing of George Floyd, Quaker Oats (a division of Pepsico), makers of Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup, announced yesterday that the dear old aunt will get a new image, and even a new name. Why? Because they recognize that "Aunt Jemima's origins are based on a racial stereotype."

No kidding?! Seems Quaker knew this at least half a century ago, when they replaced the 19th-century cartoon [N-word deleted here. Ed.] with a version apparently based on the beloved "Mammy" portrayed by Hattie McDaniel in Gone With The Wind. The resemblance is, of course, purely coincidental.

The 1950s picture changed over time, as America got more and more politically correct, and in recent years Quaker removed the "mammy" kerchief from the character to blunt growing criticism that the brand perpetuated a racist stereotype that dated to the days of slavery. Here's how Aunt Jemima looks now.

Kinda like Michelle Obama, right? You know, a thoroughly modern person of colour who likes nothing better, after a hard day of fighting for social justice, but to whomp up a bunch of pancakes for her husband and kids. (Or maybe just the kids, if their father is AWOL).

But Quaker says a more profound change is needed as part of an effort by the company "to make progress toward racial equality." A spokesthingy for the cfompany told the meeja, "We recognize Aunt Jemima's origins are based on a racial stereotype. As we work to make progress toward racial equality through several initiatives, we also must take a hard look at our portfolio of brands and ensure they reflect our values and meet our consumers' expectations."

Quaker said the new packaging will begin to appear this fall of 2020, and a new name for the foods will be announced at a later date. Something like "Buffy" or "Kendall" or "Madison", perhaps. Readers are invited to send their suggestions to Quaker by clicking on this link. Not "Mandy", please!

Obama not crazy about leading Dem presidential candidates

Walt is starting to see commercials on the idiot's lantern (read: TV) for Michael Bloomberg, who apparently has thrown his kippah into the ring for the Dumbocrat nomination for the presidensity. By my count, that makes four more or less serious contenders, not counting Pete Buttgag, who surely can't be taken seriously. The five are: two old millionaire Elders of Zion, a still older Gentile who has been (NB) vice-president, and, inevitably, Fauxcahontas. A possible late entry, not counted here, is Hellery Clinton, who declares that she's willing and able to "win again".

Which of these potential losers does former President Barack Hussein Obama support? In "Waiting for Obama", Politico reveals that the Prez isn't crazy about any of them, and once warned that he would intervene to stop Senator Bernie Sanders from winning the Democratic presidential nomination.

The title of the Politico piece -- "Waiting for Obama" -- is an infra-dig reference to a spoof that appeared in Garry Trudeau's [no relation to Mr Socks. Ed.] Doonesbury comic strip back in 1987. For a week, two characters in the strip discussed their hopes for Mario Cuomo to announce his intention to become the primary candidate for the Democratic party nomination for the 1988 election.

The burden of the Politico piece seems to be that President Obama thinks he would do better against Still-President Trump than any of the wannabes who are covertly seeking his endorsement. Some of them, he thinks, could destroy the Dumbocrats through their calls for radical change to America's social and political systems in the name of "social justice". His warnings are seen as a swipe at candidates like Senators Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

Politico claims the Prez has said in private he'd speak out against Mr Sanders if it looked like he could actually win. "Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him," the report says. However, the report quotes an Obama spokesthingy as saying the former president has stated that he would get behind the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is.

One adviser said that while they personally had no knowledge of this, the threat of a Sanders nomination would likely be cause for action. "I can't really confirm that," the adviser said, regarding the possibility of Obama trying to stop Sanders. "He hasn't said that directly to me. The only reason I'm hesitating at all is because, yeah, if Bernie were running away with it, I think maybe we would all have to say something. But I don't think that's likely. It's not happening."

It's not just Mr Sanders that the Prez dislikes. He's against the other, lesser-known, farther-out candidates too. At an Obama Foundation Summit event in October, the founder took aim at political "wokeness" and cancel culture. Weeks later, at a gathering of the Democracy Alliance, Mr Obama warned 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls that most voters do not want to "tear down the system."

Mr Obama dismissed far-left positions as not being popular among average Americans, even if they make waves on social media. "Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision," he said, "we also have to be rooted in reality and the fact that voters, including the Democratic voters and certainly persuadable independents or even moderate Republicans, are not driven by the same views that are reflected on certain, you know, left-leaning Twitter feeds."

The same Politico report talks about Mr Obama's relationship with Creepy Joe Biden, whom he has not yet endorsed, despite Mr Biden's having served as vice president in the Obama administration, routinely touting on the stump their "special relationship". That's not how the Prez tells it. Politico says Mr Obama recalled to one candidate who came to him for advice how he himself had a bond with the voters that has since faded. He reportedly added, "And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden."

So who's left? Ryan Lizza, author of the Politico report, writes: "Over the next year, Obama, according to his closest advisers, will start to emerge with slightly bolder colors. The boldest might be riding into a battle unfolding on his own side, if he did lead a potential stop-Bernie campaign. But absent that unlikely development, one adviser suggested that Obama could also be pulled into the primary and forced to play a major role if Democrats failed to pick a nominee before the convention."

"A major role"? Such as what? The Prez can't be the Democratic candidate because Americans already made the same mistake twice. But there's nothing to bar his lovely and fragrant wife from accepting a draft, especially in a brokered convention. Michelle Obama is female (check), black (check), "woke" (check) and (most important) not any of those others. You read it here first!

US First Ladies -- then and now

What a difference fifty years can make, in the life of a once-great nation. Two First Ladies, both the wives of Democratic residents, representing the American ideal of femininity and class. My, how the ideal has changed.

Human Events posted this image to its Facebook page on June 18th. Since then, it has received almost 26,000 shares and over 7,000 likes.

"What happened, America?" Nothing good, according to thousands of commenters. The phrase "mongrelization of America" hasn't appeared yet [unless it's been censored by the PC police. Ed.] but remarks about Mrs Obama have ranged from adoring through catty all the way to downright scathing. Here are a few samples.

- Even if you took a normal pick [sic] of Michelle, she always has a scowl. The difference. One loved the US, the other, was proud of it for the first time when her scumbag liar husband got the nomination. (Brent Strenski)

- Jackie had a grace, elegance and humility that our current first lady doesn't have. (Niki Tshibaka)

- What happened is that we quit covering up for frauds. The Kennedys were both sleeping around on each other and doing all kinds of illicit things (that the press covered up) while blacks in the south were getting lynched! How racist and psychopathic do you have to be to want to go back to Camelot? (Julienne St. Solange) - Aha, the racism card appears! Walt likes this one though.

- No class, doesn't know how to dress even though we're paying someone to dress her, can't shave under her arms, thinks she's a TV star. (Brenda Bennett)

- Well I have heard Jackie Kennedy speak and she was not a very intelligent woman and she was also a closet racist so a picture tells nothing about a person. (Carol Bridges-Stjohn)

Ah yes. This comparison is obviously the brainchild of rotten racist Republican scumbags. That phrase was actually used. Well, caustic and very personal political "debates" are nothing new in American politics, according to Katherine Jellison, a professor of "women's history" [wat dat? Ed.] at Ohio University.

The difference between then and now, according to Dr Jellison, is that Mrs Kennedy was more insulated from the fray. "The kind of image control that the Kennedy family was able to exercise just isn't possible anymore."

The good doctor adds that the real revelation from the Facebook image is how white and black women are portrayed in US society. [Haven't we seen this movie before? Ed.] Mrs Kennedy is "demure and deferential", while Ms Obama is "boisterous".

"Ideas about African-American women being more assertive, speaking louder," she says. "All of those stereotypes are very much coming into play here." And of course there's no underlying truth to the stereotype. None at all. Just ask Oprah Winfrey.

Footnote: Since the wimmin of America won't be satisfied until one of them is elected President [and maybe not even then. Ed.], how about Oprah Winfrey vs Hellery Clinton for the Democratic nomination?!

"Slacktivism" -- idle, impotent and irrelevant

Malala's doing it. Hellery Clinton's doing it. Michelle Obama's doing it.

Everybody's doing it. Except Walt. [And Ed. Ed.]

What's "it"? Why tweeting #BringBackOurGirls of course! The reference is to the dastardly kidnapping of close to 300 Nigerian schoolgirls by the Boko Haram.

These guys are Islamic extremists by the way. Walt points that out because the PC media, politicians and pundits seem incapable of saying the words "Islamists" or "Muslims" in referring to these terrorists. Even the CBC's Rex Murphy -- usually a straight shooter -- got through his 5-minute piece on The National on Thursday without once alluding to the religion which Boko Haram claim inspires them.

But I digress. Most of the girls are still "missing", with the Nigerian authorities professing to have no idea where to look for them. Nigeria's head nagger, Goodluck Jonathan, has appeared on TV begging for technology, weapons and, errr, money to help his army rescue the girls. He said nothing about returning the weapons, jeeps or whatever once the girls are found.

Meanwhile, all right-thinking people agree that, yes, Boko Haram are a bad lot, and shouldn't sell the girls into slavery, prostitution and/or marriage. Hence the hashtag. It has become fashionable, in the last couple of days, to scrawl the hashtag on a piece of cardboard, take a picture of yourself holding it, and post it in the social media, which Walt thinks ought to be called the "anti-social media".

Twittering, tweeting, retweeting... whatever you call taking the "action" just described is, you see, Doing Something. Posting a picture of yourself displaying #BringBackOurGirls shows support for them, you see. One cam imagine them seeing all the tweets on their iPhones, somewhere in the middle of the African bush, and being encouraged.

And who knows? Maybe the thugs who call themselves Boko Haram will see that 1000s of people have the courage to put these pictures online, and be motivated by compassion or fear to do what the hashtag commands. But Walt doubts it. For one thing, these Muslim terrorists -- don't forget it! -- don't look very literate. If they can read Hausa, which is written in Arabic script. Seeing signs in English -- the language of "boko" (= "book", = western/Christian education and culture) probably provokes them to fits of anger and/or laughter.

Tweeting #BringBackOurGirls or anything other expression of your "thoughts" on this or any other subject is a weak and futile gesture. It's like adding a few flowers -- possibly accompanied by a teddy bear -- to one of those "memorials" that spring up at the site of an accident or a crime.

You may think you're Doing Something when you tweet or twitter or throw more garbage on the heap, but really you're guilty of "slacktivism" -- making a small, meaningless gesture to show that you "care" and ease your guilty conscience. Why you or Michelle Obama should feel guilty about something which you had nothing to do with, and which has nothing to do with you, is another matter. But if you really want to help, find a better way.

"Like what?", I hear you ask. That's a toughie, but perhaps a donation to an organization like Amnesty International, or a reputable NGO working to educate girls in the third world, would do some good. Meanwhile, please spare us the vapid and ultimately useless tweets.

"I'm not an angry black woman!!!" sez Michelle

Michelle Obama, wife of the well-known president and prevaricator, told CBS News this week that she's tired of people portraying her as “some kind of angry black woman.”

Mrs. Obama said she hasn't read New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor's new book that characterizes her as a behind-the-scenes force in the Executive Mansion, whose strong views often draw her into conflict with President Al's top advisors.

“I never read these books,” she told CBS's Gayle King, “so I've just gotten in the habit of not reading other people's impressions of people.” She added that she just hasn't got time to read what people write about her, because of her heavy schedule of gym workouts and MMA matches.
