VIDEO: Monday morning quarterbacking Super Bowl LIX

Hey, how about that Super Bowl LIX! If you're a KC fan, or a KC bettor (even worse), you didn't have a lot to cheer about, as the Chiefs failed to cover the spread. As defending champions, sportsbooks had the Chiefs as 1.5-point favourites before the game. The game was expected to be high-scoring, with an over-under of 48.5. And so it was, but unsophisticated people [like Walt. Ed.] who just look at the raw scores, thought it was a pretty unexciting contest.

Of course nowadays there's a lot more to bet on than the scores.but there were plenty of bets that were very close. The national anthem, for example, was right at the line for the time but was officially scored just under the 120.5-second line. From the coin toss to how many times Taylor Swift was on camera to the Gatorade bath and the MVP, the New York Times has the results of all the major Super Bowl prop bets in a "party props sheet". [You didn't think it would be free, didja|? Ed.]

And how about that half-time show? Walt switched to a rerun of I Love Lucy on a cable channel, but according to the lengthy and fulsome NYT review, it came down to another round in the fight the star attraction, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake, the alleged Canadian, who was somewhere else.

Mr Lamar (né Kendrick Lamar Duckworth) made  his Drake diss ÈNot Like Us" the centerpiece of his set. He wore denim-on-denim, often called a "Canadian tuxedo", a potential dig at Drake, who was actually born ion the Great No-longer-white North. While performing recently in Australia, Drake told fans, in a possible allusion to the fallout from his feud with Lamar, that he is still "very much alive." Just not in the USA or Canada, though.

Some display of "American culture", eh. I might have written "Black culture", but in truth present-day American culture is Black culture. In its review, the NYT reminds us that Kendrick Lamar is a Pulitzer Prize winner. That there tells you all you need to know.

Agent 78, whose native tongue is not English, said, "Am I supposed to talk like that? I have no idea what he was saying." Agent 3, who is a dual citizen residing in Canuckistan, wrote, "If this is what Canada will be like if it becomes the 51st state, fuggedaboutit!"

At least one person who was part of the halftime show had a different idea of how to use the performance to advance an agenda. Toward the end of the set, he pulled out a banner combining the flags of Palestine and Sudan that featured a heart and a fist. Was this part of the performance, another level of commentary woven into a show already packed with it? Thanks to the Times of India, we have video.

 

In footage captured from inside the stadium but not broadcast, that individual was chased off the main stage just a few seconds after whipping out the flag. He ran around the field for a spell before he was tackled by a coterie of security guards in suits and carried off the field. That revolution, at least, would not be televised.

Another aspect of American culture was on display after the game, as 1000s of Eagles fans spilled out of bars and onto the streets of Philthydelphia after watching their team humble the Kansas City Chiefs. [Isn't "Chiefs" kind of racist, like "Redskins"? Ed.]

The city had opted not to grease the light poles even though a fan died two weeks ago after falling from a light pole after the NFC Championship Game. Despite that tragedy, Eagles fans showed no hesitation in climbing to the top of light poles, cars, construction vehicles, garbage trucks, small buildings, and almost anything else they could find.

Some fans clashed with and taunted police as officers attempted to keep the crowd confined to certain areas and under control. Dozens of fireworks were set off in the streets. However, it seems as though most Eagles fans wanted to climb things. Pole greasing and pleas to "PLEASE not climb them" didn't work.  

However, the joyful demonstrations were mostly peaceful, with not a lot of "reparations shopping", possibly because many businesses in the City of Bruvverly Love have been closed permanently because of... you know... something white people did.

Benedict XVI blames 60s culture, sexual revolution, for scandals, moral decline of Catholic Church

I have often written, here and in other publications, and told anyone who will listen, that the decline of the Roman Catholic Church and Christian (Western) society in general started in the hippy-dippy sixties. Our religion and our culture was killed by secularism and the counter-culture. So I enjoyed something of a "told ya so" moment yesterday when "Pope Emeritus" Benedict XVI released an essay on sexual abuse in the Church, which he blames on the "absence of God".

In the introduction to his "notes", the ex-Holy Father [Can there be such a thing? Ed.] writes: In the first part, I aim to present briefly the wider social context of the question, without which the problem cannot be understood. I try to show that in the 1960s an egregious event occurred, on a scale unprecedented in history.... In the second part, I aim to point out the effects of this situation on the formation of priests and on the lives of priests. Finally, in the third part, I would like to develop some perspectives for a proper response on the part of the Church."

In the 6000-world essay, which originally appeared in Klerusblatt, a German-language magazine for the clergy, Pope Ratzinger blames the Church's sexual abuse scandal on the 1960s sexual revolution, growing secularization and weak church laws that made prosecution of guilty priests difficult. "Among the freedoms that the Revolution of 1968 sought to fight for was this all-out sexual freedom.... Part of the physiognomy of the Revolution of `68 was that pedophilia was then also diagnosed as allowed and appropriate." What an amazing admission! How dismaying for faithful Catholics, to hear this from no less a personage than the former Vicar of Christ. But there's more...

"Why did pedophilia reach such proportions?", Pope Ratzinger asks. "Ultimately, the reason is the absence of God," he answers, noting failed attempts to include a reference to God in European Union treaties as a negative example of Western secularization. He also cited the appearance of sex in films in the 60s in his native Bavaria and the formation in seminaries of "homosexual cliques" in seminaries "which acted more or less openly and significantly changed the climate." He also attributes the moral corruption of the Catholic clergy and the Church as a whole to "failures in moral theology".

Benedict also faulted Church laws that protected accused priests. He wrote that during the 80s and 90s "the right to a defence (for priests) was so broad as to make a conviction nearly impossible." In 1981 Pope John Paul II named Cardinal Ratzinger (as he then was) Cardinal-Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, formerly known as the Holy Office and, especially around the 16th century, as the Roman Inquisition.

But did he do anything to excise the rotten and diseased members of Christ's Church? He tried in 2001 to reforms of those laws to make it easier to remove priests who abused children, and later, as Pope, defrocked 100s of priests accused of raping and molesting children. But he was opposed by powerful forces -- "the lavender Mafia" -- within the Vatican itself. Some say his unprecedented "resignation" was engineered by those same evil men, who succeeded in replacing him with the more tolerant and merciful Jorge Bergoglio.

Compared with Pope Francis, Benedict XVI emerges in this essay as a voice calling Catholics to turn away from the excesses of Vatican II, and back to the values of traditional Catholicism. Of course he does not suggest that Vatican II was in error or anything like the "anti-council" which many traditionalists now claim it was.

He writes: "The Second Vatican Council was rightly focused on returning this sacrament of the Presence of the Body and Blood of Christ...to the centre of Christian life and the very existence of the Church. In part, this really has come about, and we should be most grateful to the Lord for it. [But] what predominates [now] is not a new reverence for the presence of Christ's death and resurrection, but a way of dealing with Him that destroys the greatness of the Mystery." The reference is to declining participation in Sunday Mass and treatment of the Eucharist as "a mere ceremonial gesture."

"We do not need another Church of our own design," Benedict concludes. "Rather, what is required first and foremost is the renewal of the Faith in the Reality of Jesus Christ given to us in the Blessed Sacrament." A pity he didn't tell us sooner, but let us hope and pray for a Catholic Counter-Revolution, before Christ's Church disintegrates completely. Amen.

After PA revelations, Cardinal Burke decries "gay culture" in Church

In the aftermath of the release of the names of the hundreds of Roman Catholic clergy guilty of the sexual abuse of minors, and the Vatican's delayed and limp-wristed "shame and sorrow" response -- things have got to the point where someone in authority needs to come clean about the Church's dirty hyuge secret. American Cardinal Raymond Burke has done so in an interview with Catholic Action, published yesterday.

The fundamental problem, said the prelate, is not so much pedophilia as homosexuality within the ranks of the clergy, right up to the very highest levels. The existence of the Gay Mafia in the Vatican has been an open secret for years. See, for example, "Second sex scandal in Rome! Pope asks forgiveness... from whom?", WWW 14/10/15. After this week's revelations of sexual abuse, the Cardinal called for "open recognition" of the Church's homosexual culture. "I believe that there needs to be an open recognition that we have a very grave problem of a homosexual culture in the Church," he said, "especially among the clergy and the hierarchy, that needs to be addressed honestly and efficaciously."

A prominent canon lawyer, Cardinal Burke is often perceived as a voice of traditionalism and orthodoxy among prelates of the Catholic Church. In recent years, he has clashed publicly with Pope Francis, vigorously opposing attempts by Francis and other bishops to relax Church attitudes towards gays and people who have divorced and remarried outside the Church, and has spoken of the need to "formally correct" the Pope in relation to Amoris laetitia.

In this week's interview, Cardinal Burke said it was already "clear after the studies following the 2002 sexual abuse crisis that most of the acts of abuse were in fact homosexual acts committed with adolescent young men. There was a studied attempt to either overlook or to deny this," he said, referring to the lamestream media cover-up of the homosexual nature of the abuse as well as such denial within the church itself. "Now it seems clear in light of these recent terrible scandals that indeed there is a homosexual culture, not only among the clergy but even within the hierarchy, which needs to be purified at the root."

Warning: these stories may trigger Islamophobia AND homophobia!

Here's a story, reported by Toronto CTV News, that the SJWs and PC politicians (Hello, Kathleen Wynne, Justin Trudeau and, yes, John Tory!) don't want to see splashed all over the media, because it will undoubtedly engender feelings of homophobia AND Islamophobia in some readers. But it's a true crime story, released by the Toronto coppers, so Walt can share it with you without fear of M-103 or any other anti-free speech laws.

Pictured at left is 27-year-old Ala Al Safi, aka Ala El Deen and... wait for it... Ala Mode. (Isn't that a cute alias?) Mr Al Safi is an Arab, a Muslim, and a practising homosexual pervert. And boy ["boy"? Ed.] does he practise! Toronto police alllege that he had intimate relationships with multiple men over the course of six (6) years, without telling any of them that he was HIV positive.

The coppers say Mr Al Safi was diagnosed with the disease in February of 2011. In July of the same year, he met a 24-year-old man through an online classified personal ad. The two allegedly began an intimate relationship, which they carried on for some time without the suspect disclosing his HIV+ status.

Fast forward to last December, when police say the same man met a 21-year-old man through an online dating website and the two began an intimate relationship. The victim told police that the suspect did not tell him about his HIV+ status.

[This is getting repetitious. Can we get to the charges? Ed.] OK, OK... Police say that eight more people -- eight different men ranging in age from 18 to 28 -- have come forward with allegations pertaining to the same, errr, man. [At least the victims weren't minors! Ed.] The homosexual encounters reported occurred as far back as December of 2011 and extended right through to March of this year. In none of the cases, police say, did the suspect tell his partners that he is infected with a disease which, if passed to them, will inevitably kill them.

Some legal beagles would say charges of attempted murder would be justified, but Mr Al Safi has been charged with eight additional counts of aggravated sexual assault. Why "additional"? Because he was previously charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault in April and June of this year.

The CTV News report does not mention Mr Al Saki's immigration/citizenship status in Canada. Nor does it make clear whether this despicable bugger is out on bail or safely behind bars where, as we all know, homosexual activity is strictly forbidden.

And here's another one that CTV News published, but, like the story above, was somehow missed by the government-controlled CBC.

Yesterday, also in Toronto, police announced an arrest following a complaint of a child reported being sexually assaulted at a TTC subway station. 41-year-old Chitranjan Boyal is facing three charges including sexual assault, sexual interference and failure to comply with probation. The mother of the victim -- a 7-year-old boy -- told police that they were on an escalator heading toward ground level at around 8 PM when a man approached her son from behind and sexually assaulted him. The cops had already received numerous calls about a man grabbing at children in "a sexual manner".

A police spokesthingy told the media, "The mom did everything right. She went up to the collector's booth, notified them, had them call 911, and she also had the time to pull out her cellphone and take a picture of the alleged suspect." Not wishing to fan the flames of homophobia or Islamophobia, the cops declined to release any information about the pedophile's nationality, ethnicity or religion. Thus we don't know what part of Ireland Chitranjan Boyal is from... but we can guess!

How can the Church defend pedophile priests?

Enraged by a recent report of the Archiocese of Philadelphia's cover-up of child sex abuse crimes committed by some of its priests, an assiduous reader writes:
I am getting so tired of this constant parade of kiddy-diddling priests. I had hoped that the publicity in the past decades would force the Pope to forcibly address this. But the archbishops and others are still covering and protecting these priests who think it is open season. The papers are full of the church fighting contraception but IMHO they seem to be doing very little about this disgusting behavior. How can you, as a Catholic, defend not just the crimes but the Church's failure to do anything about them?

Walt's reply:
You are quite right. Both the abuse and the denials and cover-ups are a source of shame and disgust to traditional Catholics and the many holy priests who keep their vows.

A website published by a "sede vacantist" -- one who says that the post-Conciliar popes are illegitimate, thus not popes at all -- lays the blame right at the feet of the Holy Father, who he calls "the Pedophile Pope", suggesting that Pope Benedict protects the bishops who protect the priests who commit these sins that cry out to Heaven.

This was foretold by Our Lady of Fatima, and corresponds with the words of Apocalypse 12:3-4:
And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns: and on his heads seven diadems:
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth...
The dragon is Satan and the stars of Heaven are the bishops and priests.

Many Catholics, including yr obdt svt, believe that the Church needs to be cleansed. Pope Paul VI said "The smoke Satan has entered the Church" and he should know because he was one of those who opened the windows. But how the Church will be reformed, only God knows. All the faithful can do is pray is pray for the triumph of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart.

Bacha bazi: Find out about it on PBS

Bacha bazi means "boy play" in one of the languages of Afghanistan. It's part of the culture we're fighting to preserve, along with democracy of course. I wouldn't have known this but for a heads-up from John Doyle in the TV review column of the Globe & Mail.

In a piece headlined "The taboo topic our mission in Afghanistan ignores", Mr. Doyle recommends watching an investigative report on this disgusting (his word) facet of Afghan culture, which will air on PBS today (Tuesday). Check your local listings for time and channel.

Tune in and you will see how preteen and young teenage boys are sold to powerful businessmen and former warlords. Sold for sex.

Walt wonders why pedophilia and sexual abuse gets so much media coverage when it's a problem in the Church, but almost none when it's part of the Afghan/Muslim tradition. It says something that this documentary got its first and only mention in the entertainment section. If a slave auction of underage boys was held in the Vatican it would be front-page news!

It seems the topic – like the alleged abuse of Afghan detainees – is taboo, something government and senior military officials would prefer to ignore.

To quote Mr. Doyle: "The mission in Afghanistan is sold to us as protecting civilians and training an Afghan army and police to eventually take over that mission. Nobody wants us talking about the possibility that the mission includes deliberately ignoring what we consider evil committed by allies in Afghanistan.

"That would mean debating a moral quandary. And the morality of the mission in Afghanistan is supposed to be crystal clear. Essentially, what everybody is ignoring is the possibility that 'getting the job done' in Afghanistan (as the military usually describes it) might mean turning a blind eye to pedophilia."

Vatican spinning like a top on homosexuality

The homosexual lobby in the media and centres of progressive thinking has thrown a collective and predictable hissy-fit over Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone's statement linking the Church's sex abuse problem to homosexuality in the priesthood. (See yesterday's post here.)

Proving once again that it cares more for "public opinion" than the opinion of God, the Vatican is backtracking furiously, without actually saying His Eminence was wrong. This they do by way of "a clarification" of Bertone's statement.

Vatican spinmeister Fr. Federico Lombardi says, "We refer here of course to the problem of abuse by priests and not in the general population. Putting it another way, the Church says it knows what the problem is with Her priests, but doesn't really have a clue why the 1000s of other homosexual pedophiles do what they do.

Fr. Lombardi went on to say that the Church does not "make general statements of a specifically physiological or medical character," and Cardinal Bertone did not intend to speak on the relationship between homosexual orientation and pedophile offenses. Walt wonders how Fr. Lombardi would know the cardinal's intentions? Does Bertone go to him for confession?

However, Father Lombardi continued, in a statistical examination of reports on clerical abuse, the Vatican's chief prosecutor has found that only 10% of the cases involved true pedophilia (abuse of small children), while 90% were cases of ephebophilia (abuse of adolescents). [Hey, we learned a new word! ed.] He added that 60% of all cases involved same-sex victims...in other words, men assaulting other men or big or little boys.

That 60% figure falls significantly short of the statistics for the United States, where a thorough analysis in the John Jay report showed that more than 80% of the reported instances of abuse by American Catholic priests involved boys.

The subheadline for the article is "Religious officials not competent in medical sphere" to which Walt would add that they seem to be lacking as well in competence in proclaiming the Church's traditional teachings on homosexuality.

Homosexuality and pedophilia in the Church: whose fault is it?

Readers of this blog will know that I have no love and little respect for Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State and pope wannabe. Bertone is the chief liar and denier of the Message of Fatima, as well as being principal apologist for the mess that is the modern (post-Vatican II) Roman Catholic Church.

Every once in a while, though, the "Prime Minister of the Holy See" says something that is dead right, and according to the traditional teaching of the Church. More's the pity that his flashes of insight don't occur more often.

Last week His Eminence said at a news conference in Chile that the crisis of clerical sex abuse is due more to the homosexuality of large numbers of priests and bishops, rather than the discipline of clerical celibacy.

“Many psychologists and psychiatrists have shown that there is no link between celibacy and pedophilia but many others have shown, I have recently been told, that there is a relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia. That is true,” he said. “The behaviour of the priests in this case, the negative behaviour, is very serious, is scandalous.”

In the last sentence quoted, the cardinal displays his remarkable facility for stating the obvious. But the point of the message -- that there is a relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia -- begs the question of how it is that so many homosexuals and pedophiles come to be wearing Roman collars.

Please read or reread Paedophilia in the Church - the effect of the Sixties, which I wrote here on March 25th. I venture the opinion that, up until the 60s and Vatican II, the Church had no greater proportion of homosexuals in Her priesthood and laity than any other institution or segment of the population. There is...or was...nothing about Catholicism that would lead one to decide to be queer!

Then came the sexual revolution. Nothing was wrong any more. The Church stopped preaching about sin and hell. Catholics no longer got straight answers (in Confession) to questions about sex and moral behaviour. Instead, when we asked "Father, is that a sin?", the answer we got was "How do you feel about it?" (Not kidding. I personally heard those very words.)

As might have been foreseen, the seminaries -- at least some of them -- became hotbeds of homosexuality. Just one example was in the Archdiocese of Toronto where the Cardinal Archbishop felt compelled to have the seminar closed because it had become a den of iniquity.

Who is to blame for opening the doors of the Church to "the smoke of Satan"? I'm quoting Pope Paul VI, who now must realize the answer to the question. If not, let's hope that, wherever he is now, there's a mirror for him to look in! For it is the Church hierarchy, at the highest levels, including Cardinal Bertone and Cardinal Ratzinger, as he then was, who did nothing to stop -- even encouraged -- the erosion of the traditional teachings of the Church and the immorality of growing numbers of priests.

The Chinese have a saying, "The fish always rots from the head down." So it is with large institutions, including the Church. When the leaders, who should be giving firm and proper guidance and direction to those below them, are more concerned with winning popularity contests and chasing the fashions of the times, one cannot expect other than the decline and fall of the institution.

So it was with the Roman empire. So it was with the British empire. So it is today with the American empire. And so it will be with the Roman Catholic Church unless the clear warnings of Scripture and Our Lady of Fatima are not heeded.
