New poll shows more Canadians than Americans opposed to DEI hiring

The Association for Canadian Studies just released the results of a survey done for them by Leger Marketing. Surprise finding: A majority of Canadians say that employers should not take cultural or ethnic backgrounds into consideration when hiring.

According to the poll, 57% of Canadians disagree with the notion that equity should be a part of hiring. Jack Jedwab, President of the ACS, said, "The survey results point to some pushback on the issue of minority hiring in Canada and the United States."

36% of Americans support affirmative action, while only 28% of the residents of Canuckistan support it. Leger didn't ask people why they were for or against equity hiring, but a visit to any Canadian government office... or any McD's in Toronto or Vancouver... will give you the answer.

Although diversity hiring is unpopular across all age groups, it's most unpopular, at 62%, among Canadians between the ages of 45 and 54. Even among supposedly liberal young Canucks (18 to 24 year-olds), 50% oppose hiring based on race and ethnicity. Men and women equally oppose such policies, with 57% against.

The new poll disclosed some regional difference. In Québec, where the provincial government has attempted to prohibit the wearing of religious dress and symbols in some workplaces, the objection to equity hiring is most strongly held: 63% of Québécois disagree with it.

In Alberta, 58% of respondents said background shouldn't be a consideration in hiring. The province's governing United Conservative Party now has policies that explicitly endorse the elimination of DEI hiring within the public service and Crown corporations.

In British Columbia, where 57% hold that view, while 55% of Ontarians polled agreed, as did 53% of residents of the prairie provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. There was no outright majority only in the Maritimes, where 50% opposed diversity hiring.

The latest opinion survey comes as DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), has come under increased scrutiny in the business and political world. Last month, Walmart scrapped its diversity program, as did John Deere and Harley-Davidson.

At the other end of the earth, the government of New Zealand is rethinking its promotion of DEI in its armed forces. Here's why.

Walt kids you now. That's a true story. Seems the lady (?) in command of the ship didn't have all that much experience at sea, and had the ship on autopilot. You won't find the part about the commander being a lesbian in the lickspittle media, but you can check out this thread on Reddit.

Back in the Excited States of America, America First Legal, a non-profit led by former members of the Trump administration, filed complaints with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleging that American, United and Southwest Airlines engage in "overtly discriminatory practices" in their diversity hiring and retention programmes.

The group pointed to the airline's focus on "expanding [its] Cadet Academy to ensure prospective pilots, particularly people of color and women, have access to the support needed to enter the profession." They also called out airline statements that it met "companywide diversity goals for any underrepresented positions," including "Black representation and retention."

America First Legal argues that such practices violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 because they are "based on the race or color of the individuals involved." Earlier this year, they made similar arguments in complaints to the EEOC against Southwest and United, which it accused of using unlawful quota systems to further DEI goals. What do you think? Do you feel safe flying the inclusive skies of United?

The backlash against DEI policies isn’t just external. In a 2021 Gartner survey, 42% of employees said they resented their employers' DEI efforts. And in a November 2022 online survey by ResumeBuilder.com and Pollfish, 52% of hiring managers who work for a company with a DEI initiative said they believed their company practices "reverse discrimination" in hiring. Nearly half said they'd been told to prioritize diversity over qualifications. Now we see how that worked out for the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Surprise! New Zealand PM Karen Snowflake quits

In "Fearless predictions for 2023" Walt predicted that Francis the talking pope, Joe "What papers?" Biden, and Justin "F*ck" Trudeau would be out of office by Christmas. Here's one that Walt didn't see coming.

Comment by Harold Beale in the Notional Pest: She was an evil tyrant that has now realized her bigoted response to demonize anyone who questioned her has put her on the wrong side of history. Best to go into exile before the people overthrow her.

"Allahu akbar!" in New Zealand! Islamic extremist stabs "at least six"

Remember what happened in New Zealand on 15 March 2019? A lone Australian, Brenton Harrison Tarrant, entered two mosques in Christchurch during Friday prayers, and shot 51 Muslims deade, wounding another 40. He was vilified in media reports as a white supremacist, racist, Islamophobe, extremist, terrorist, part of the alt-right, yada yada yada.

New Zealand's super-woke Prime Minister Jacinda "Karen" Ardern said it would be wrong even to say or print Mr Tarrant's name, and banned publication of the video and manifestor which he had posted online before the attack. He was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole – the first such sentence ever imposed in New Zealand.

Today, in beautiful downtown Auckland, police on Friday shot and killed a knife-wielding "extremist" -- notice the words "Islamic" or "Muslim" have been omitted -- who was "known to authorities." Before being shot, the assailant wounded at least six people (three seriously), all the while yelling "Allahu akbar!"

The attacker, whom the Authorities would not identify by name, was one of the 100s of "refugees" New Zealand welcomed 10 years ago, supposedly fleeing persecution during the Sri Lankan civil war. He was inspired (they admit) by the Islamic State militant group and was being monitored constantly... although not so closely as to prevent the "incident".

When asked if the attack could have been revenge for the 2019 mosque shootings, Prime Minister Ardern said it was not clear. "A violent extremist undertook a terrorist attack on innocent New Zealanders," she told the meeja.

"He obviously was a supporter of ISIS ideology," said Karen, but the attack "was hateful, it was wrong. It was carried out by an individual, not a faith. It would be wrong to direct any frustration to anyone beyond this individual." Yeah, sure.

Q.: How many Islamic extremists does it take to change a light bulb?
A.: Two. One to change the bulb and one to praise Allah for this incredibly sophisticated science, which was known to Arabs long before infidels stole it from them.

Q.: How many Islamic extremists does it take to attack (with intent to kill) six "infidels" in a rampage of stabbling?
A.: Just one.

Q.: How many Islamic extremists are included in the 1000s of followers of the Prophet that Sleepy Joe Biden and Justin "Blackie" Trudeau are sending into your community, right now
A.: Who knows? None of this latest horde of "refugees" are being screened. All are presumed to be victims of Taliban terror, not the kind of Muslim fanatics who believes that infidels should be killed wherever they may be found... even in faraway New Zealand.

Would you drink a beer called "Pubic Hair"?

Step right up, folks, and get an ice cold can of "the perfect summer beer, light body with a subtle citrus flavour from the New Zealand Hops! Find one in the wild or in Alberta's liquor stores and pubs"

So says Hell's Basement Brewery, out of Medicine Hat AB [Seriously. Look it up. Ed.], which launched Huruhuru (the Feather) New Zealand Hopped Pale Ale two years ago. Two years. That's how long it took for word to filter back to Canuckistan that "huruhuru" actually means pubic hair in te reo, the language spoken by the Maori people of New Zealand.

A Facebooker named Te Hamua Nikora, who is Maori, this week called out the brewery and a leathercraft shop in New Zealand for both using the word. "What's the first thing most Maori think when they hear the word 'huruhuru'?" asked Mr Nikora in his FB video. "It was brought to my attention a few days ago that there is a new shop in Wellington...and it's called Huruhuru Authentic Leather."

He said he sent the shop a Facebook message to ask what they thought the word meant. He said they responded that they found it in a dictionary as a word for "feather". "When the Maori look at the name of your store, they're not going to see 'feather' or soft leather," he said, "they're going to see 'pubes'."

The FB post quickly came to the attention of Mike Patriquin, founder and general manager of Hell's Basement Brewery, who responded with a stereotypically Canadian fulsime apology. "The interpretation was intended as 'feather' – meaning the beer itself is light as a feather and this is also stated in the name," said Mike in an e-mailed statement.

"We acknowledge that we did not consider the commonplace use of the term 'huruhuru' as a reference to pubic hair, and that consultation with a Maori representative would have been a better reference than online dictionaries. We wish to make especially clear that it was not our intent to infringe upon, appropriate, or offend the Maori culture or people in any way; to those who feel disrespected, we apologize."

Huruhuru IPA is to be rebranded. Names are being checked carefully with the PC police, and "AB0" (AB for Alberta and 0 as in "zero") has already been rejected.

Note from Ed.: Walt has returned.

ISIS claims responsibility for Sri Lanka massacre of over 300 Christians

Further to yesterday's "Suspicions confirmed" post... it will be recalled that following the Christchurch, New Zealand shoot-up of a couple of mosques, perpetrated by a "white nationalist", "racist" etc etc, there was a tsunami of white Christian guilt. World leaders condemned unequivocally the terrible act of Islamophobia, called for confiscation of the guns of everyone except "the authorities, etc etc. Mounds of flowers and teddy bears piled up in front of mosques around the world, and vigils were held everywhere. The Pope prayed for the victims. The prime minister of New Zealand and other worthies donned Islamic headscarves to show solidarity with the poor oppressed Muslims.

Sunday saw a much more horrific attack on Christian churches and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka. The death toll has now reached 321 -- six times that of the New Zealand massacre. The response of world leaders was muted, by comparison, perhaps even "guarded", because, errr, there was the possibility that the killers of over 300 Christians -- not Muslims but Christians -- might turn out to be, errr, Muslims, hell-bent on revenge for the New Zealand atrocity. For that to be the case would be embarrassing for the liberal politicians and lamestream media who only see non-white followers of the Prophet as victims of white racism, Islamophobia, etc etc.

Unfortunately for those who insist that Islam is "The Religion of Peace", it has now been revealed, by no less a personage than the Sri Lankan Minister of Defence that the Easter attack on churches, hotels and other sites in the South Asian nation was "carried out in retaliation" for the shooting massacre at two New Zealand mosques. The minister, Ruwan Wijewardene, told Parliament the government possessed information that the series of bombings in and outside of Colombo that killed more than 300 people was carried out "by an Islamic fundamentalist group" in response to the Christchurch attacks. Which is pretty much what Walt said yesterday. Perhaps Mr Wijewardene is a reader of WWW.

Mr Wijewardene did not name the "Islamic fundamentalist group". If he doesn't read (or believe) Walt, he should at least check reports in The Guardian and other lamestream media that ISIS has claimed, through its AMAQ news agency, that the atrocities were the work of "fighters of the Islamic State". To wit:

Pictures are also circulating on the Internet -- notably on siteintelgroup.com -- purportedly showing the suspected suicide bombers, including purported National Thowfeek Jama'ath leader Moulvi Zahran Hashim pledging allegiance to ISIS.

These photos have not been published by AMAQ. Rather, it seems, they are being circulated by ISIS fanatics to encourage others.

Some of the lamestream media, and many apologists for Islamic extremism, persist in the fiction that "the motive for the bombings remains" unclear. The Sri Lankan government at least got that part right. The attacks, said Mr Wijewardene, were in retaliation for the killing of 50 Muslims last month at mosques in New Zealand. "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" is something you might find in Judeo-Christian Scripture, but not, apparently, in the Holy Qu'ran.

I'm waiting for Theresa May, Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau, Hellery Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Fauxcahontas -- hell, any of them -- to condemn the Islamic extremism which is the source of 99% of the world's troubles. But I'm not holding my breath. Are followers of the Prophet not told, "Kill the infidels wherever they may be found!" Just because you're Islamophobic doesn't mean the Muslims aren't out to get ya!

Misogyny and homophobia is OK... but only if you're Muslim

Ed. here. Walt is still under the weather and Poor Len has his mind on other things (read: hockey) so to reward our faithful readers for visiting WWW today, I've found a good cartoon which points out the double standard of our media and politicians regarding the recent unpleasantness in Christchurch.

See yesterday's post's footnotes for more comments.

Speaking of New Zealand and the NZ Prime Minister's (I won't give her publicity by using her name) being over backwards (not frontwards) to be nice to Muslims, check out "Troubling signs New Zealand shooting is being used to turn my country into Islamic State". on Lifesite News 21/3/19. This pretty well sums it up.

Footnote: Mueller Report... I know... Unlike the lamestream media, Walt won't comment until after news (if any) is reported.

Revenge of the Muslims? Mass shooting on tram in Netherlands

CAVEAT! This is a breaking story. I'm trying not to jump to any conclusions here, just presenting the facts as known so far.

The small Dutch city of Utrecht, about 30 miles south of Amsterdam, was the scene of a terrorist attack this morning. Three people were killed and at least nine injured when a shooter opened fire inside a public tram (= steetcar/trolley, for our North American readers). A spokesthingy for the police told the meeja, "Several shots were fired in a tram and several people were injured. Helicopters are at the scene and no arrests have been made." He said nothing about the severity of the injuries or the status of the shooter.

Another spokesthingy said the suspect could have left the scene by car, and did not rule out the possibility that more than one person was involved. The shooter is still at large and there are reports of other shootings. So far there are no reports of anyone yelling "Allahu akbar!", but police say they are "considering" terrorism as a motive, and officials raised the region's threat level to "5" -- the highest.

Security was reportedly stepped up at mosques in the province as well, as the shooting comes only four days after mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. That shooting was deemed a terrorist attack and the suspected shooter -- a white Australian -- allegedly posted a manifesto espousing anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant views. See "Walt explains motive for the New Zealand attacks on Muslims", WWW 15/3/19.

I think it's highly unlikely that the shooter in today's terrorist attack -- it's not too soon to use that phrase -- will turn out to be a white Australian, or a white anything-else. It's more likely, IMHO, that he will be a follower of the Prophet, a Muslim refugee or immigrant (of which the Netherlands has more than enough) intent on avenging the 50 Muslim refugees and asylum-seekers killed in NZ. I'll take bets on this one. Lifetime pct .991.

VIDEO: NZ massacre Chelsea Clinton's fault? WTF?

Friday's attack on Muslim worshippers at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand has been followed, naturally, by expressions of grief and sympathy from Muslims and non-Muslims all over the world, including the now-obligatory vigils where people light candles and leave mounds of flowers and teddy bears in the streets. One such vigil was held at New York University last night.

Among those attending was Chelsea Clinton, the likely daughter of Slick Willy and Hellery, who would probably be throwing her hat in the Democratic ring along with scores of other chapeaux were it not for the fact that she's expecting her third child sometime this summer. It's good Chelsea isn't running for anything because, it turns, out the AOC wing of her own party is holding her and her parents responsible for the attack.

In this clip, you can hear NYU senior Leen Dweik (clad in a Bernie Sanders t-shirt) castigating Ms Clinton for "stoking" the hatred behind the NZ shootings! "This right here is the result of a massacre stoked by people like you and the words that you put out into the world," says Ms Dweik, gesturing to the vigil.

Ms Clinton, having studied at the Just In Trudeau School of Apologetics, replies, "I'm so sorry you feel that way." Someone else in the small crowd jumps in with, "What does 'I'm sorry you feel that way' mean? What does that mean?".

Walt asks, what indeed?! I have no love or even liking for any of the Clinton ilk, but I have to ask WTF Chelsea Clinton has to do with this? (Other than trying to get a little publicity by tearing up over this dreadful example of racism, white supremacy, yada yada yada, I mean.) According to the New York Post, the answer is supplied by Rose Asaf, who posted the video and tweeted, "People haven't forgotten the Islamophobic mob she incited against @IlhanMN. There is no sense of responsibility."

She was apparently referring to Ms Clinton's blasting of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), saying she (Omar) used "anti-Semitic language" when she criticized Israel. Back in February, Ms Clinton tweeted, "We should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism." So that explains it, then.

Footnote: Ms Dweik, Ms Asaf and Ms Omar are all good Arab-Americans and followers of the Prophet. Ms Clinton is neither.

Walt explains motive for the New Zealand attacks on Muslims

New Zealand! Whoda thunk it? Check any list of World's Most Boring Countries and you'll find New Zealand right up there in the top three with places like Canada and Norway. Nothing ever happened in New Zealand, until yesterday. And then...

In the NZ city of Christchurch, at least three white people, one of them an Australian, staged attacks on two mosques during Friday prayers, killing 49 Muslims and wounding nearly two dozen more. At least one of the attacks was live-streamed on social media. The Authorities, normally reluctant to characterize such occurrences when shouts of "Allahu akbar!" are heard, were quick to denounce yesterday's attacks as "right-wing extremist terrorism".

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described the "incident" as "one of New Zealand's darkest days." Clichés about "thoughts and prayers" were immediately uttered by Paragons of Virtue (TM) around the world, including even President Trump. Police have asked mosques across the island nation to close, as a precautionary measure.

Three suspects are in custody, according to Inspector Knacker. One of them -- the Australian -- has been charged with murder. Now it's time to ask the Big Question: Why did they do it? Is it simple Islamophobia -- fear and loathing of Islam and followers of the Prophet? Walt thinks there's more to it... and, at the same time, less.

What we are seeing, today in New Zealand previously in Québec and other Western countries, is the extreme expression of anti-immigrant backlash. It didn't have to be Muslim immigrants. It could have been Hindus (like the Sri Lankan Tamils) or Christians (like the mostly Catholic Venezuelans who are flooding into Colombia) or Jews (like the so-called "black Jews" who are migrating from Africa to their "homeland" in Israel).

People who are the majority population of any country don't like the feeling of being invaded by hordes of aliens from shitholes, particularly when those aliens seem intent on bring their shit -- shit culture, shit habits, shit work ethic, etc -- with them.

Think, for example, about Sharia law -- the Islamic "justice" that punishes adultery by stoning and homosexuality by castration or even execution. Think about the Islamic culture that not only allows but encourages husbands and fathers to murder their wives and daughters for bringing dishonour on the family, e.g. by wearing blue jeans or not wearing Islamic head-covers. It's not hard to understand why citizens of Western countries say, "If you want to live in a place where those customs are normal, why don't you go back where you came from?!"

I don't condone the killing of innocent people, no matter whether it's four dozen Muslims or the 1000s of Christians killed by Islamic jihadists in the Middle East as well as Europe and countries of the West. But I do understand where the killers are coming from, so to speak.

What I don't understand is why hordes of Muslims are flooding into New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA. I mean... I understand it in the sense of, if I lived in a shithole like Pakistan, I'd try to worm my way into the USA too, especially if I didn't have to give up my religion and way of life.

But I don't understand why people would go where they are obviously not welcome. The signs, like the one illustrating this post, are there to be seen. Maybe attacks like yesterday's are just some misguided people's way of making the message even more plain.

Footnote: Seems I'm not the only one who had these thoughts. Today's Telegraph quotes Australian senator Fraser Anning as blaming the Christchurch terror attack on the "increasing Muslim presence" in Australia and New Zealand. "I am utterly opposed to any form of violence within our community, and I totally condemn the actions of the gunman," he said. "However, while this kind of violent vigilantism can never be justified, what it highlights is the growing fear within our community, both in Australia and New Zealand, of the increasing Muslim presence. The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place."

VIDEO: Amazing wedding haka

Walt has posted videos of wedding dances in times past -- the Swazi girls doing the reed dance is a perennial favourite here, for some reason -- but never anything like this haka performed by the guests at a wedding reception in New Zealand. The bride seems quite moved. What do you suppose she's thinking?

Kiwi kid's fart speech blasts competition

12-year-old Victoria Grant's "Enslaved by our banks" speech, reported here last month, has drawn considerable readership and comment. Now, via Agent 6, comes word of a less serious, but still ripping speech by Sophie Paterson, apparently about the same age, a Grade 6 student in the Central Hawke’s Bay area of New Zealand. Here's the text of Sophie's prizewinning oration on the subject of... wait for it... farts.

Hi, today I am going to talk to you about farts. Some people think farts are rude and some people think farts are funny, like me. I think farts are hilarious.

Farting is a fact of life. Everybody farts. The Queen farts, superstars fart and I fart. We will fart until the day we die. And apparently a person can still fart after death!!

Do you know why we fart? Flatulence, wind or farts, whatever you like to call them, is the production of the mixture of gases in the digestive tract, that are by products of the digestive process. The average person farts about 14 times a day, which produces about half a litre of fart gas. (Personally, I think I fart more than 14 times a day).

Farts are made up of the following: Nitrogen, the main ingredient making up 59 percent; next behind is hydrogen at 21 percent; 9 percent carbon dioxide; 7 percent methane, 3 percent oxygen and 1 percent other stuff. But listen to this! Hydrogen sulphide is the compound that makes them stink!

Here are the top 10 farters:
1. Termites
2. Camels
3. Zebras and my pony Free
4. Sheep
5. Cows
6. Elephants
7. Labradors and retrievers
8. Humans (vegetarians)
9. Humans (non-vegetarians)
10. Gerbils (also known as the desert rat)

If If you are going to fart, do not sit by flames, because farts are very flammable. Also, they can come motoring out of your body at 10 kmh. No wonder some of you have holes in your undies!

Please do not panic if you find yourself trapped in a small space like a closet, as it is impossible to suffocate in your own farts. Unless Ben (my little brother) is in there with you!

Anyway next time you fart, don’t think it’s rude. Just know that everybottie, oops, I mean, everybody, farts. Thank you for listening to my fartastic speech.

Here’s a little poem that I’d like to share with you.
A fart can be useful
It gives the body ease
It warms the bed in winter
And suffocates the fleas.

Way to go Sophie! Keep `em flying!

And dear readers, please note that Walt is quoting from a report in the Napier (NZ) Mail. There's at least one other version of this speech extant on the Internet, with a couple of bogus limericks tacked on at the end, replacing the nice little poem Sophie recited. Trust Walt to give you the real article.
