Nazis in Canada? The truth behind the demonization of Yaroslav Hunka

I don't know Yaroslav Hunka personally, but I know... or knew... many like him. Most of them are dead, now. I know their stories. And I know where their bodies are buried.

Mr Hunka is a Canadian citizen, who lives near North Bay, Ontario. More specifically, he is a Ukrainian-Canadian, born 98 years ago in what was then a part of Poland known to some as "Galicia", but to its natives as Ukraine.

Last Friday, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was addressing the Canadian Parliament, the Hon. Anthony Rota, Speaker of the House of Commons, introduced Mr Hunka as "a Ukrainian hero, [and] a Canadian hero", prompting MPs and dignitaries in the House to offer a standing ovation.

Today, Mr Rota resigned from his lofty position, saving the already embarrassed Prime Minister McBlackface from having to fire him. Why? Because, the lickspittle Canuck media told a shocked nation over the weekend, Mr Hunka was actually a "Nazi" (add: racist, anti-Semite, monster, yada yada yada) who served in the First Ukrainian Division, also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis. [Don't say "Germans". Ed.]

The 14th Waffen-SS Galicia Division (also known as the 1st Ukrainian Division of the Ukrainian National Army) was formed in 1943/1944, when a determined group of young men and women in Galicia volunteered to serve in a combat division destined for eastern front combat. Their goal: to engage and destroy the Soviet hordes menacing their homeland and to counter Nazi Germany's subjugation of their country. 

Although initially Galicia's Volunteers would serve in a German sponsored military formation, in actuality the volunteers of the Galicia division wanted to engage all hostile ideologies -- from both the East and West -- in order to secure a free independent Ukraine. Why would Yaroslav Hunka have joined the Ukrainian National Army, voluntarily or otherwise? Doing so doesn't make him a Nazi or a German, any more than having been born in Poland makes him Polish. 

Consider the times, and the nature of the adversaries. For Ukrainians, the 1930s was the time of the Holodomor (Ukrainian for "death by hunger"), when millions of Ukrainians died of starvation (or, sometimes, execution) as a result of the Soviet Russian state's genocidal assault on the Ukrainian peasantry.

Mr Hunka and his compatriots lived through the Holodomor, only to be caught in the middle when the Russians decided to meet the invading Germans in the same land that is being fought over today. What should they do? Join the Russians who were determined to wipe them out, or with the Germans, who promised to liberate them from Soviet Communist oppression. It was a choice between the devil you know and the devil you don't know. Many, like Mr Hunka, chose the latter. But doing so didn't make him a Nazi!

After the fall of the Third Reich, 1000s of Ukrainians found themselves in Germany, in prison camps or, later, in refugee camps. Members of my own family, who had been taken to Germany as slave labourers, were forced to make another hard choice.

Many Ukrainian prisoners had no choice. They were handed over to the Russians, "repatriated" to the Soviet Union, where large numbers of them were shot for being "contaminated" by their experiences in the West. 

Those who wanted to live, and had the choice, asked to go instead to other countries with established Ukrainian communities, like Argentina, Australia, and (of course) Canada. I say "of course" because Canada had been welcoming "Galicians" since 1905, when the famous "men in sheepskin coats" had flocked to the fertile lands of western Canada as the Austro-Hungarian empire started to disintegrate.

That, I would guess, is why Yaroslav Hunka chose to come to Canada -- "a good place for Ukrainians", then and now. I would guess, too, that Mr Hunka didn't receive any government handouts -- housing, food, medical care or anything else. 

I imagine he got off the boat in Halifax with the clothes he stood up in and perhaps a few dollars in his pocket, and had to make his own way after that. That's how it was with people very near and dear to me. Some of them, like Mr Hunka, may have fought with the Germans against the Russians. Some of their descendants are in Ukraine right now, fighting against the Russians. But that's ot because they were or are Nazis. They were Ukrainians, and are now Ukrainian-Canadians. End of story!

Even Canada's lickspittle media couldn't ignore the "Million March for Children", held in cities across Canuckistan yesterday. 1000s of concerned Canadian parents, kids, and others -- including religious Catholics, Protestants and (yes!) Muslims -- showed up to protest LGBT indoctrination in the schools of the Great Woke North.

In the capital city, crowds of protesters and counter-protesters, believed to be in the hundreds on each side, yelled and chanted at each other from across Wellington Street, a large demonstration opposed to teaching LGBTQ2S+ issues in schools took over Parliament Hill. 

Yes, we have video! Maxime Bernier, erstwhile leader of the People's Party of Canada (Yes, he and they are still fighting the good fight!) answers the headline question. 

You'd think the answer would be obvious, but "Mad Max" is the only leader of a Canadian political party with the intestinal fortitude to say it out loud!

The stated goal of the protesters is to make schools -- Canadian school boards, particularly the Toronto District School Board, are notoriously "woke" -- stop teaching children about gay, lesbian and trans people, which the protesters claim runs counter to their rights as parents to control their children's moral and social upbringing. 

Protesters held signs with slogans that included "leave the kids alone" and "pride comes before destruction". Some people at the protest called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign, as the ever-popular "Fuck Trudeau" flags, first seen during the Freedom Convoy, fluttered in the wind.

The protesters complained about "intrusive elements of sexual orientation and gender ideology" (read: pro-queer agenda) in the school system. They said they don't hate the LGBTQ2S+ community, but they oppose the school systems promoting queer issues in ways that they believe go against the values and beliefs they want to raise their children with. 

The march comes on the heels of months of cultural battles in Canada as well as the US of A over "gay rights", particularly involving transgender people and "gender-affirming care" -- e.g. body mutilation -- for minors. 

Besides cutting off various appendages, "medical interventions" can include puberty blockers, and hormone treatments. Other parts of "gender-affirming care" (read: grooming!) can include accepting the use of a different name or preferred pronouns or dressing as the preferred gender, which we used to call "transvestism" (a psychological abnormality or perversion) or simply "cross-dressing".

The governments of the provinces of Saskatchewan and New Brunswick have tabled legislation that would require that educators obtain parental consent if a child wishes to use a different name at school or be addressed by different pronouns. Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Education Minister Stephen Lecce have discussed similar ideas but, so far, no legislation has been announced in Ontario.

The issue has also  raised its bewigged head in federal politics. At the recent Conservative Party of Canada convention, delegates voted in favour of a future Conservative government prohibiting "life-altering" medical and surgical interventions for "gender-diverse and transgender people" under the age of 18. But the new Tory leader, Pierre Poilievre, said that delegates can vote as they like, but he's the leader and willl go along with the liberals if that's what it takes to get elected.

Canadians should hope that, as Max Bernier said, common sense will prevail. But don't count on it.

"Our country is a mess!" And it's caused by the influx of foreigners

"Oh dear!" (Walt hears the libtards cry!) "How dare you, how dare you, give space to senophobic, racist, white supremacist, yada yada yada propaganda? Except it's not. It's the honest opinion of a black woman, Zandile Dabula, who last June was elected President of Operation Dudula, a movement set up in South Africa two years ago to formalise what had been sporadic waves of vigilante attacks against foreigners dating back to shortly after blacks took power in 1994.

Ms Dabula is calm, charismatic and emphatic about the group's message: Foreigners are the root cause of South Africa's economic hardship.

When a reporter for the BBC (Britain's very woke state broadcaster) argues that this campaign is based solely on hate, she tells her: "We must be realistic here that most of the problems that we have are caused by the influx of foreign nationals. 

"Our country is a mess. Foreign nationals are working on a 20-year plan of taking over South Africa."

When challenged, she admits the "20-year plan" was a rumour but says she believes it is true. "You see drugs everywhere and most of the drug addicts are South African rather than foreign nationals. So, what's happening? Are they feeding our own brothers and sisters so that it can be easy for them to take over?"

Operation Dudula calls itself a civic movement, running on an anti-migrant platform. "Dudula" is a Zulu word meaning "to force out". With one in three South Africans out of work in one of the most unequal societies in the world, foreigners in general have become an easy target. The South African Social Attitudes Survey for 2021 found that almost half of the population of 60 million people believed there were between 17 and 40 million immigrants in the country.

Current polling suggests support for the Communist-backed African National Congress (ANC), the party once led by Nelson Mandela which has governed South Africa since 1994, could fall below 50% for the first time. Operation Dudula has ambitions to fill that vacuum and has now transformed itself from a local anti-migrant group into a national political party, stating its aims to contest next year's general election.

Operation Dudula's most pressing complaint is the huge influx of drugs into South Africa's most deprived communities. With drugs comes crime. South Africa's justice minister says that immigrants made up 8.5% of all convicted cases in 2019 and 7.1% in 2020. The figures are lower than those for the US of A, but, unlike Americans, South Africans intend to fight back, and they mean "fight" literally.

In Diepkloof, in eastern Soweto, the BBC joins a so-called Dudula taskforce. Men in trucks are going to confront a Mozambican shopkeeper who a South African landlady alleges has not paid his rent. A confrontation ensures, in which one of the men, Mandla Lenkosi, threatens to beat up the foreigner. 

When the BBC asks, the Dudula group maintain they are enforcing the law. Mr Lenkosi, also from Soweto and out of work, takes part in raids on migrant homes and workplaces, people who are suspected of anything from drug dealing to remaining in the country past their visa date.

"We grew up in apartheid times, where things were much better than what it is now," he says, pointing to the drug problems. "The law was the law [then]." 

His fellow Dudula supporter, Cedric Stone, agrees: "South Africa needs to go back to the old South Africa that we know. "Our fathers started the tuck shops but today all those tuck shops are all foreigners, especially, Bangladeshis, Somali and Ethiopians. Why?"

Ms Dabula says critics of Operation Dudula who maintain it is a collective of violent vigilantes are wrong. "We don't promote violence and we don't want people to feel harassed," but adds, "We cannot be overtaken by foreign nationals and do nothing about it." 

Hundreds of supporters travelled to attend Dudula's first national conference in Johannesburg in May, where members voted to register the group as a political party. Waving South African flags, dancing and singing their way through the streets to the City Hall, it felt like a celebration. However, the songs they sang carry a threatening... and plain... message: "Burn the foreigner. We will go to the garage, buy some petrol and burn the foreigner."

At the same gathering, Isaac Lesole, Operation Dudula's technical adviser, posed a question to the cheering supporters: "Do we make peace with illegal foreigners?" In union, they shouted back, "No!"

When the progressive woke revolution took over traditional America, matters soon reached the level of the ridiculous. Take the following examples of woke craziness and hypocrisy, perhaps last best witnessed during Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution.

The Biden administration from its outset wished to neuter immigration law. It sought to alter radically the demography of the U.S. by stopping the border wall and allowing into the United States anyone who could walk across the southern border. Over seven million did just that. Meanwhile, Biden ignored the role of the Mexican cartels in causing nearly 100,000 ANNUAL American fentanyl deaths.

Then border states finally wised up. They grasped that the entire open-borders, “new Democratic majority” leftwing braggadocio was predicated on its hypocritical architects staying as far away as possible from their new constituents. So cash strapped border states started busing their illegal aliens to sanctuary blue-state jurisdictions.

Almost immediately, once magnanimous liberals, whether in Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, or Manhattan, stopped virtue-signaling their support for open borders. Instead, soon they went berserk over the influx.

So now an embarrassed Biden administration still wishes illegal aliens to keep coming but to stay far away from their advocates—by forcing them to remain in Texas. That means the president has redefined the US. border. It rests now apparently north of Texas, as Biden cedes sovereignty to Mexico. 

Precivilizational greens in California prefer blowing up dams to building them. They couldn’t care less that their targeted reservoirs help store water in drought, prevent flooding, enhance irrigation, offer recreation, and generate clean hydroelectric power.

Now an absurd green California is currently destroying four dams on the Klamath River. In adding insult to injury, it is paying the half-billion dollar demolition cost in part through a water bond that state voters once thought would build new—not explode existing—dams.

The Biden administration is mandating new dates when electric vehicles will be all but mandatory. To prove their current viability, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm led a performance art EV caravan on a long road trip. When she found insufficient charging stations to continue her media stunt, she sent a gas-powered car ahead to block open charging stations and deny them to other EVs ahead in line.

Only that way could Granholm ensure that her arriving energy-starved motorcade might find rare empty charger stalls. In some California charging stations, diesel generators are needed to produce enough “clean” electricity to power the stalls.

The state has steadily dismantled many of its nuclear, oil, and coal power plants. It refuses to build new natural gas generation plants. Naturally, California’s heavily subsidized solar and wind plants now produce too much energy during the day and almost nothing at night. So the state now begs residents to charge their EVs only during the day. 

Then at night, Californians may soon be asked to plug them in again to transfer what is left in their batteries into the state grid. Apparently only that way will there be enough expropriated “green” electricity for 41 million state residents after dark.

One of the loudest leftist voices to defund the police, and decriminalize violent crimes in the post-George Floyd era, was Shivanthi Sathanandan, the 2nd Vice Chairwoman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party./// She was recently not shy about defunding: “We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. Say it with me. DISMANTLE.” 

But recently the loud Sathanandan was a victim of the very crime wave she helped to spawn. Four armed thugs carjacked her automobile. They beat her up in front of her children at her own home, and sped off without fear of arrest. 

The reaction of the arch police dismantler and decriminalizer on her road to Damascus? The now bruised and bleeding activist for the first time became livid that criminals had taken over her Minneapolis: “Look at my face. REMEMBER ME when you are thinking about supporting letting juveniles and young people out of custody to roam our streets instead of HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.”

Andrea Smith was an ethnic studies professor at the University of California, Riverside. But now she has been forced out after getting caught lying that she was Native American. Prior to her outing, she was well known for damning “white women” (like herself) who opted to “become Indians” out of guilt, and (like her) for careerist advantage.

The common theme of these absurdities is how contrary to human nature, impractical, and destructive is utopian wokism, whether in matters of energy, race, crime, or illegal immigration. 

There are two other characteristics of the Woke Revolution. One, it depends solely on its advocates never having to experience firsthand any of the nonsense they inflict on others. And two, dangerous zealots with titles before, and letters after, their names prove to be quite stupid—and dangerous.

But wait, there's more: Speasking of Jennifer Granhold, who demonstrated the impracticality of long road trips in an EV, here's a video clip -- just seen on Forbes -- of Senile Joe's Energy Secretary defending herself during a House Science Committee hearing again an accusation by Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) of having lied about her ownership of Ford and other stocks.  

 

Not very convincing, was it. As Rep. Tenney said, admitting you lied under oath doesn't cure the admitted perjury. Why does Secretary Granholm not resign? Well, because Joe of course! 

If Ms Granholm resigns after being caught in a lie, then Brandon would have to resign since he utters three lies every day before breakfast! For example, his lie about being there, admist the wreckage of the Twin Towers, on 9/12! A stranger to the truth is he. There's not a lie he hasn't told.

In the Great No-longer-white North, the latest sin against political correctness and the progressive agenda is residential school denialism. "Wozzat?" (I hear you ask.) According to the Royal Society of Canada -- a club for the intelligentsia (read: liberal elites) -- it's "a strategy used to manipulate and undermine the realities of Indigenous Peoples' painful experiences under Canadian colonialism to protect the status quo."

Is that woke, or what? But wait, there's more. In the very next sentence, university professors (of course) Daniel Heath Justice [sic] and Sean Carleton go on to say: "An honest accounting of the past makes possible an honourable future — but only if Canadians have the courage to face it."

VIDEO: Catholics starting to say the S-word out loud

The S-word word is "schism". It means a split or division between strongly opposed sections or parties, caused by differences in opinion or belief.

Can you say "schism", boys and girls? If you're Catholic, you should know what it means, if only because you have heard about the Great Schism, which started in 1054 AD with the excommunication of Michazel Cerularius, the Patriarch of Constantinople. 

That created the split, the division between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox church. Catholics refer to Orthodox Christians as "our separated brethren" for that's what they are, good Christian people who have separated themselves from Rome.

Now Roman Catholics, from lay people up to and including Cardinals -- but not "Pope" Francis -- are starting to talk, not just whisper about the very really possibility of a new schism which may be provoked by Francis' "Synod on Synodality" which is set to start in October.

In this video, Dr Taylor Marshall talks about the de facto schism which has persisted since Vatican II. The synod puts the Church at risk of making that de facto schism "de jure"... official... as believers are forced to choose whether they wish to hold fast to the Faith of our fathers, or join the Francis' New Church of the World Order. 

My dear Catholic friends, be prepared to be asked "Which side are you on?" Dr Marshall says, and I repeat, "Do not leave the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church." Outside the Church there is no salvation, so stay in the boat! The Holy Spirit will sort it out. So let it be.
