Nazis in Canada? The truth behind the demonization of Yaroslav Hunka

I don't know Yaroslav Hunka personally, but I know... or knew... many like him. Most of them are dead, now. I know their stories. And I know where their bodies are buried.

Mr Hunka is a Canadian citizen, who lives near North Bay, Ontario. More specifically, he is a Ukrainian-Canadian, born 98 years ago in what was then a part of Poland known to some as "Galicia", but to its natives as Ukraine.

Last Friday, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was addressing the Canadian Parliament, the Hon. Anthony Rota, Speaker of the House of Commons, introduced Mr Hunka as "a Ukrainian hero, [and] a Canadian hero", prompting MPs and dignitaries in the House to offer a standing ovation.

Today, Mr Rota resigned from his lofty position, saving the already embarrassed Prime Minister McBlackface from having to fire him. Why? Because, the lickspittle Canuck media told a shocked nation over the weekend, Mr Hunka was actually a "Nazi" (add: racist, anti-Semite, monster, yada yada yada) who served in the First Ukrainian Division, also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis. [Don't say "Germans". Ed.]

The 14th Waffen-SS Galicia Division (also known as the 1st Ukrainian Division of the Ukrainian National Army) was formed in 1943/1944, when a determined group of young men and women in Galicia volunteered to serve in a combat division destined for eastern front combat. Their goal: to engage and destroy the Soviet hordes menacing their homeland and to counter Nazi Germany's subjugation of their country. 

Although initially Galicia's Volunteers would serve in a German sponsored military formation, in actuality the volunteers of the Galicia division wanted to engage all hostile ideologies -- from both the East and West -- in order to secure a free independent Ukraine. Why would Yaroslav Hunka have joined the Ukrainian National Army, voluntarily or otherwise? Doing so doesn't make him a Nazi or a German, any more than having been born in Poland makes him Polish. 

Consider the times, and the nature of the adversaries. For Ukrainians, the 1930s was the time of the Holodomor (Ukrainian for "death by hunger"), when millions of Ukrainians died of starvation (or, sometimes, execution) as a result of the Soviet Russian state's genocidal assault on the Ukrainian peasantry.

Mr Hunka and his compatriots lived through the Holodomor, only to be caught in the middle when the Russians decided to meet the invading Germans in the same land that is being fought over today. What should they do? Join the Russians who were determined to wipe them out, or with the Germans, who promised to liberate them from Soviet Communist oppression. It was a choice between the devil you know and the devil you don't know. Many, like Mr Hunka, chose the latter. But doing so didn't make him a Nazi!

After the fall of the Third Reich, 1000s of Ukrainians found themselves in Germany, in prison camps or, later, in refugee camps. Members of my own family, who had been taken to Germany as slave labourers, were forced to make another hard choice.

Many Ukrainian prisoners had no choice. They were handed over to the Russians, "repatriated" to the Soviet Union, where large numbers of them were shot for being "contaminated" by their experiences in the West. 

Those who wanted to live, and had the choice, asked to go instead to other countries with established Ukrainian communities, like Argentina, Australia, and (of course) Canada. I say "of course" because Canada had been welcoming "Galicians" since 1905, when the famous "men in sheepskin coats" had flocked to the fertile lands of western Canada as the Austro-Hungarian empire started to disintegrate.

That, I would guess, is why Yaroslav Hunka chose to come to Canada -- "a good place for Ukrainians", then and now. I would guess, too, that Mr Hunka didn't receive any government handouts -- housing, food, medical care or anything else. 

I imagine he got off the boat in Halifax with the clothes he stood up in and perhaps a few dollars in his pocket, and had to make his own way after that. That's how it was with people very near and dear to me. Some of them, like Mr Hunka, may have fought with the Germans against the Russians. Some of their descendants are in Ukraine right now, fighting against the Russians. But that's ot because they were or are Nazis. They were Ukrainians, and are now Ukrainian-Canadians. End of story!

A case of mistaken identity, shurely

 I don't believe anyone will dispute my assertion that the liberal elites of Not-so-great Britain (aka the Disunited Kingdom) are even more nutso about political correctness than are those of Canuckistan and the Excited States of America. 

Nor will anyone argue that political correctness and freedom of speech are antithetical. All the same, it comes as a surprise that Internet censorship should  now be extended to the other side (as opposed to our side) of the political spectrum. But here's a headline that proves it, posted by the far left British Socialist Workers Party.

Did you check out that logo? The SWP is a charter member of the loonie left, for sure. And yet, the UK edition of rt.com reports, they were temporarily booted from Facebook, only to be restored hours later with no explanation given for what the Lefties called "silencing of political activists."

Dozens of related pages remain banned. The party said its main account, as well as its local pages, were deactivated on Friday, calling in an "attack", while demanding the profiles be "reinstated immediately." In a press release, the SWP said "Facebook has shut down the accounts of one of the biggest left wing organisations in Britain," adding that only racist conservative fascists deserve that kind of treatment. [Ed., please check the last clause. I'm not sure it's an accurate quote.]

While the SWP said Facebook provided no rationale for the move, it noted that its page often posts "in support of Palestine, Black Lives Matter and against Boris Johnson’s Covid policies," and was "silenced for speaking out on these issues."

How then, do they explain why they were shut down? Walt can reveal that it was a simple case of mistaken identity. Google "socialist workers party" and you'll eventually find an entry for the "National Socialist German Workers Party" (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP), aka the Nazi Party. And you know who they were, right? 

It's pretty easy, then, to see what happened. Still, it's amusing that the far left should now be bleating about the kind of attack on free speech which those even an RCH* to the right of centre have been experiencing since the daze of the Obama presidensity. Look good on `em!

Are ya ready for an all-American Reichstag fire?

"History repeats itself!" is bunk. It's an aphorism loosely based on an aphorism commonly attributed to George Santayana: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." 

Strictly speaking, history cannot repeat itself exactly, because there can never be an exactly similar situation involving exactly the same people in exactly the same place. And even if that could be so, you can't predict that the same people would act/react in exactly the same way a second time. Human beings are, if nothing else, unpredictable. 

The most we can say, then, is that certain events occurring now, or which may occur in the future, put us in mind of events that have occurred before, and prompt us to speculate that the outcomes might be similar. That's all. 

So it is with the dire warnings with which the FBI, the Dumbocrats and the lickspittle controlled media are assaulting us every bloody minute, regarding the possibility of armed protests on the occasion of Sleepy Joe Biden's almost-secret inauguration on January 20th. 

White nationalists, Trump supporters and neo-Nazis [they tell us] are preparing for bloody insurrection, not just in Washington DC but in all 50 state capitals! 

 Here's a sample of the steaming load of bullshit being shovelled out by the likes of Business Insider: "Biden's inauguration rehearsal has been postponed because of security threats, report says". And how about this, from the TDS sufferers at Yahoo!: "'Cowboys for Trump' leader plans to bring guns to DC on the day of Biden's inauguration".

Scary, isn't it? Imagine that guy -- Couy Griffin, a New Mexico county commissioner and founder of Cowboys for Trump -- bringing "multiple guns" to Washington! He'll even have one on the front seat of his car [Yahoo! sez], while reminding us that DC law prohibits keeping a firearm in the passenger compartment of a vehicle and has tight restrictions on guns in the capital! The horror! The horror!

I have yet to hear weather-forecast-like phrases such as "the mother of all protests" or "rebelliomageddon", but clearly the lamestream media are whipping up hysteria! 

Why? I am reminded [Coming to the point at last! Ed.] of the Reichstag fire of 1933. For those who don't remember the history of Germany and WWII, the fire was an arson attack on the building housing the Reichstag, the German parliament, four weeks after Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany. 

The Nazis blamed the fire on Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch Communist, saying it was the work of Communist agitators. The government used the fire as a pretext to claim that communists were plotting against the German government, and so it became pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.

After searching the still-smoldering building, die Polizei arrested Mhr Van der Lubbe, who was found inside, along with four Communist leaders. Within hours, Chancellor Hitler urged President von Hindenburg to issue an "emergency decree" to suspend civil liberties and pursue a "ruthless confrontation" with the Communist Party of Germany. The Reichstag Fire Decree was passed the following day.

After the decree was issued, the government instituted mass arrests of Communists, including all of the Communist Party's parliamentary delegates. With their bitter rivals gone and their seats empty, the Nazi Party went from having a plurality to a majority, thus enabling Hitler to consolidate his power. 

Although the Nazis accused the Comintern (Communist International) of the act, many historians now believe, based on archival evidence, that the arson had been planned and ordered by the Nazis as a false flag operation, intended to make absolute their hold on power. Which it did.

Getting back to the events planned for next week, we have already seen evidence that some of the protesters urging the occupation of the Capitol building were actually Antifa and anarchists who had infiltrated the ranks of Trump supporters. There is also the suggestion that some law enforcement personnel didn't try very hard to stop the protesters from running amok. 

Could the events of January 6th be repeated two weeks later? Who knows? History doesn't repeat itself... does it?

9/11: US version of the Reichstag Fire? What about MH370?

The Reichstag was the German parliament in the 1930s. The name also referred to the building which housed it. On 27 February 1933 the building was destroyed by an arson attack. Like subsequent events which changed history, it was initially blamed on "just one man, acting alone" -- Marinus van der Lubbe, a somewhat retarded Dutch bricklayer who was caught at the scene. He was also a card-carrying Communist. Thus the Nazis were able to claim that the Communists were plotting against the German government, which was true enough but hadn't been confirmed by any overt acts until then.

The burning of the Reichstag was a turning point in the rise of Nazi Germany. Hitler, who had become Chancellor of Germany just four weeks before the fire, talked President Paul von Hindenburg into passing an emergency decree to suspend civil liberties in order to counter the "ruthless confrontation of the Communist Party of Germany".

After passing the decree, the government instituted mass arrests of Communists, including all of the Communist parliamentary delegates. With their bitter rival Communists gone and their seats empty, the Nazis went from being a plurality party to the majority. Subsequent elections confirmed this position and thus allowed Hitler to establish his Third Reich.

Some historians suggest that the Mr van der Lubbe, a mildly retarded and suggestible person, was put up to the arson by the Nazis themselves, as what is now called a "false flag" operation. It's a movie which the world would see again... and again...

Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth is one of many groups of "truthers" who believe that the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 on 11 September 2001 was caused by a controlled demolition. (The official investigation says falling debris from the nearby Twin Towers ignited fires in Building 7 and ultimately caused its collapse.)

One of AE911's members, architect Richard Gage, is on a speaking tour, "raising a red flag" (his phrase) not just in the USA but in Canada. "We're not trying to upset anybody," says the self-styled patriotic American, [but] "if there’s any question about what happened on 9/11, which created two wars and the loss of our civil liberties and massive economic hardship...then we’ve got to get to a real investigation and answer these questions."

Who would have been behind this controlled demolition and perhaps the whole 9/11 outrage? Fingers were naturally pointed at Muslim terrorists. But there were those -- including the creators of South Park-- who painted a different picture. Could it not have been the government of Bush the younger, seeking to create a "casus belli" as an excuse to start Desert Storm II and create a police state in America?

Consider what followed in the aftermath of 9/11:
- legislation like the Patriot Act in the USA (and similar "security" laws in Canada, the UK, and elsewhere)
- a de facto police state where the power of the military and "security forces" is unquestioned
- the drastic curtailment of the freedoms we used to take for granted: to bear arms, to criticize the government, to travel in our countries
- the invasion and brutal occupation of Afghanistan by NATO of Iraq and Afghanistan, and
- a resurgence of American imperialism in the guise of being the world's policeman.

Which brings us to MH370, still unaccounted for as the guesses and theories multiply. The words "Muslims" and "terrorism" are on the tips of many tongues.

The pilot and co-pilot of the ill-fated plane were Muslims. (Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country.) MH370 might have been hijacked by Uighur (Muslim) terrorists as part of an attack on China. (Unlikely, but who knows.) Or the Taliban or al-Qaeda might have diverted the plane to a secret airstrip to turn it into a giant flying bomb!

Nothing can be ruled out! For Walt, "nothing" includes the possibility that the American military may have diverted MH370 to a location they control, like Diego Garcia, which should have been within range.

Why would they do this? To divert attention from the failure of Obama's foreign policy in the Crimea? Or -- far worse -- to set that stage for a catastrophe in Afghanistan -- not a long flight from Diego Garcia -- which would "require" the Americans to stay in the sandpit for another couple of years, even if the Afghans don't want them there. The meaning of Libya

Western-style liberal democracy finds no favour in the Middle East. Never has, and, Walt says, never will. (Lifetime pct .990.) It is repugnant to the Arab culture and the Muslim religion. Until the "Arab spring" you couldn't find one true democracy in the whole region. Some would say you still can't.

But that's OK, the great leaders of the free world said. We'll help you bring about régime change in the worst of your dictatorships -- Egypt and Libya -- because we know what's best for you. We'll fight for you, to give you the democracy we know you really want.

And so, as if Iraq and Afghanistan weren't enough, the West inserted its meddlesome self into the Libyan brouhaha. Obama, Sarkozy and Cameron told us we had to. Why? Because Daffy Gadhafi supported terrorists and posed a threat to world peace, even if he had been pretty well minding his own business of late. If that excuse ["reason", surely. Ed.] weren't enough, well, there was our "responsibility to protect" the Libyan people, since they were obviously unable to protect themselves from their own ruler.

So Western planes bombed the excrement out of Tripoli and the surrounding countryside, killing a few of the "good rebels" and hundreds of innocent bystanders along the way, but yet another altruistic mission was accomplished. The Mad Colonel was overthrown and, incidentally, an important source of oil for the West was made secure. The price of gas went down and all were happy once again.

Or maybe not. Questions were raised by Walt and others about who would fill the power vacuum which would be created by the overthrow of Gadhafi, Egypt's Mubarak and others. The "good rebels" seemed to be a rather ragtag lot of chancers, Islamic fundamentalists, criminals, Rambo wannabes, maybe even Al-Qaeda terrorists. Don't worry, our leaders told us, we can handle them, just like the Germans handled the Nazis in the dying days of the Weimar Republic.

Again, maybe not. This year, the anniversary of 9/11 was the occasion for anti-American demonstrations in Egypt (first) and Libya, now spreading to Tunisia and Yemen. US flags were burnt and American diplomats were killed. After all the US of A did for those people! Where's the gratitude?

Paul Heinbecker, former Canadian ambassador to the Disunited Nations, told the Globe and Mail, "I don’t think the mob in the street give a damn about what [we have] done." (Yes, the Canucks took part in the beating up of Libya too.)

According to Mr Heinbecker, two forces contributed to the violence against US missions in Cairo and Benghazi. The first is the so-called clash of civilizations multiplied by the speed of the Net. An Israeli-American posts a video calculated to insult and provoke Muslims. Social media amplify its effect, sending people into the streets.

A day later, more and more doubt is being expressed as to the identity of the film-maker, and whether a complete film actually exists. "Innocence of the Muslims" may well be a hoax, perpetrated by Islamic -- or Protestant Christian -- extremists to inflame passions and start riots which Al-Qaeda could then use as cover for planned attacks.

The second contributor to the violence, Mr. Heinbecker says, is the decline of the autocrat in the Muslim world. Whatever one could say about Colonel Gadhafi and President Mubarak, mobs didn’t burn embassies unless they wanted them burned.

It's worth noting that Egypt's new president, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, hasn't said a word about the attacks in Cairo. Walt suggests that either his government, like that of Libya, is unable to control the howling mobs, or... it approves of or at least acquiesces in their actions.

If I were President Obama -- and I was not born in the USA -- I would be wondering about the risks involved in getting in my country into another Middle Eastern imbroglio. Like Syria, for instance. Or Iran.

There's the risk of death to Americans who are sent into the middle of the maelstrom. And there's the risk of political death for those who send them. Unless, of course, American voters don't make the connection between their country's "good deeds" and the not-so-goodwill they are now reaping. "No good deed goes unpunished."

How can we be silent in the face of Islamization of our country?

Martin Niemöller was a Protestant pastor and theologian born in Lippstadt, Germany, in 1892. He was an anti-Communist and, frightened by the Bolshevik takeover of Russia, at first supported Hitler's rise to power. But when Hitler insisted on the supremacy of the state over religion, Niemöller became disillusioned, and led a group of German clergymen opposed to Hitler.

In 1937, Niemöller was arrested and eventually confined in Sachsenhausen and Dachau. His crime was "not being enthusiastic enough about the Nazi movement". You have probably seen a version of his famous statement, "First they came...", frequently quoted as a warning about the dangers of political apathy. Here's one version...

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Catholic
Then they came for me
And there was no one left to speak for me.

Walt was reminded of this by an article sent to me by Agent 17. It begins with a quote from an (apparently fictional) German psychiatrist, a survivor of World War II, who was asked how many German people were true Nazis. His answer should guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

"Very few people were true Nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, like the majority, I just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world as we knew it had come

Compare this with the Islamization of Europe and North America which is being perpetrated by Muslim extremists right now, while we, the silent majority of Western "Christians" -- like the three wise monkeys -- see nothing, hear nothing, and say nothing.

We are told again and again by "experts" and the talking heads of the lamestream media that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. This may be true, but so what? It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave.

It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The fact is that the peaceful majority of Muslims is a silent majority -- cowed and extraneous to the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic fundamentalists. The Soviet Union was populated by millions of Russians (and other nationalities) who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Soviet Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

The majority of China's 1.3 billion (and counting) people are peaceful too, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians -- most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget the more recent example of Rwanda, which collapsed into tribal butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace-loving"?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because -- like Pastor Niemöller -- they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the world as they knew it is at an end.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us Westerners, we must pay attention to the only group that counts -- the fanatics who threaten our way of life. We may be witnessing the beginning of the end, not just of their world, but of our own!

Footnote: The Afghan Taliban today launched a major spring offensive, with multiple attacks against Western embassies in the central diplomatic area and parliament in Kabul. Explosions, rockets and gunfire are rattling the city even as I write, and scores of casulaties are reported.

The peaceful majority: silence and passivity make us irrelevant

Thanks to Agent 38 for sending along "A German view of Islam", some comments attributed to Dr. Emanuel Tanay, "a well-known and respected German psychiatrist". Walt has done a little checking on this piece (which has been on the Internet for over four years) and suspects the real author is Paul Marek, a second-generation Canadian from Saskatchewan, whose grandparents fled Czechoslovakia just prior to the Nazi takeover.

"Why the peaceful majority is irrelevant" appeared on 18 March 2007 on Arutz Sheva, a website devoted to "Israel national news". It remains a clear and convincing explanation of the rise of and reasons for Muslim (and other) terrorism. The author's references to history are accurate and clear. Walt sees it as worth publishing again, in its entirety.

I used to know a man whose family were German aristocracy prior to World War II. They owned a number of large industries and estates. I asked him how many German people were true Nazis, and the answer he gave has stuck with me and guided my attitude toward fanaticism ever since.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a war-mongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across Southeast Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians - most killed by sword, shovel and bayonet.
And who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were “peace loving”?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt; yet, for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by the fanatics. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak up, because, like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Bosnians, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians and many others, have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us, watching it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts: the fanatics who threaten our way of life. [Again, my emphasis. Walt]

A lot of truth in that. Ignoring, or by our passivity and tolerance (in the name of diversity and understanding) supporting fanatics allows them to continue their destructive mission.

We have the same problem today with the small group of radical leftists and one-worlders who have wormed their way into positions of power here in North America. The majority of Americans and Canadians just don't have the will or the courage to take their countries back. Thus we are paying the price of our ignorance and lethargy in allowing this band of thieves, radicals and "social democrats" to promote their own brand of tyranny.

Anyone who doubts that the issue is serious, without at least speaking up and trying to do something to counter it, just feeds the passivity that allows this cancer in our society to grow and spread.
