A few well-chosen words about immigration

The controlled media* would have you believe that, four months out from the 2020 election, the majority of voters think the Excited States of America should be governed by the Democratic Party, the party of Barack Hussein Obama, Nervous Nancy Policy and and Chuck "Impeach Him Again" Schumer. And of course Sleepy Creepy Joe Biden, who, the meeja tell us, will beat Still-President Trump without even breaking a sweat. [Didn't we hear the same thing four years ago? Ed.]

Immigration, of course, will not be a major issue this time because everyone can see that the President's attempt to close the border is xenophobic and racist, while the Democrats' position on the issue is sensible, progressive and humane. Here's a sample.

"We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States. But those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law, and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law.

"We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, and lawfully to become immigrants into this country."**

Wait a minute. Isn't that something that President Trump said? Nope. It was then-Senator Obama, back in 2005, before he became the Prez. Didn't he change his mind later? Nope. Here's what he said in his 2013 State of the Union address.

"Real reform means strong border security, and we can build on the progress my administration has already made -- putting more boots on the southern border than at any time in our history and reducing illegal crossings to their lowest levels in forty years.

"Real reform means establishing a responsible pathway to earned citizenship -- a path that includes passing a background check, paying texes and a meaningful penalty, learning English, and going to the back of the line behind the folks trying to come here legally."**

This is a bit hard to believe. Anyway, Obama's not President any more. Real liberals like Chuch Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are the leaders now. Funny you should mention them. Here's what Mr Schumer said in a speech at Georgetown University in 2009.

"The American people are fundamentallyu pro-legal immigration and anti-illegal immigration. We will only pass comprehensive reform when we recognize this dunamental concept.

"First, illegal immigration is wrong. A primary goal of comprehensive immigration reform must be to dreamatically curtail future illegal immigration."**

As Ms Pelosi said, "We all agree we need to secure our borders, while honoring our values."**

So that's the Democratic position now? To me it sounds the same as what President Trump has been saying. My dear, that's exactly the problem. If Trump says it, it's wrong! Therefore, the position of the Democratic Party now is the polar opposite of what it was back in the day.

Recognizing that anti-immigrant backlash contributed greatly to the election of the Donald, the Dems now advocate open borders, amnesty for the illegals ["undocumented", shurely. Ed.] and more welfare for all. Can you say "hypocrisy", boys and girls? No? How about "flip-flop"? I knew you could.

Thomas Sowell destroys the arguments for multiculturalism

Thomas Sowell is an American economist and social theorist who is currently a senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He was born in North Carolina but grew up in Harlem. And he is... wait for it... black. [Aren't we supposed to capitalize that, now? Ed.]

You might expect him to be supportive of the liberal ideal of multiculturalism as shown above. You would be wrong. In an essay entitled "'Multicultural' Education", Prof. Sowell avers that most of the arguments for that concept are so flimsy, inconsistent, and downright silly that it is hard to imagine that they would have been taken seriously if they were not backed up by shrill rhetoric, character assassination, and the implied or open threat of organized disruption and violence on campus.

In this essay he tackles, one by one, four Big Questions raised by the multicultists:
- Why do we study Western civilization, to the neglect of other civilizations?
- Why are the traditional classics of Western civilization written by dead white males?
- Don't we need multiculturalism to get people to understand each other and get along with each other?
- How are we to be part of the global economy, or engage in all sorts of other international activities, without being multicultural?

VIDEO: Walt suggests a slight change to this patriotic song

Since no-one up to and including Still-President Trump seems willing or able to prevent anarchy's headlong descent into rioting, chaos and anarchy, Walt suggests the time has come to ask the Deity (not his Prophet!) for help.

It really doesn't seem that there's a whole lot to cheer about this Fourth of July. But if all Americans, or at least 50% + 1 (so to speak) will take this to heart and do the right thing in November, Walt and Poor Len [and Ed.! Ed.] hope to make up for our lack of enthusiasm on July 4, 2021.

Meanwhile... what is needed is a minor change to the lyrics of this song, made famous by Kate Smith. DEL "Bless" and INS "Save". That should do it.

A message from Walt to the anti-everything protesters

A Pew Research national survey released this week shows that more than 70% of Americans are "angry" about the "state of the country". Just 17% say they are "proud" when thinking about the present situation in the Excited States of America.

The survey also found "only minor demographic differences in reported emotional reactions about the state of the country." For instance, "two-thirds or more across all age groups" were "angry about the state of the nation." In addition, the poll found that identical shares of white and black adults (72% each) say they feel angry, while roughly as many Hispanic adults (67%) are "angry" as well.

To all those who will be tempted to take to the streets tomorrow, The Glorious Fourth, to vent their anger, Walt has this to say:

Footnote: The signing of the United States Declaration of Independence, authored by Thomas Jeffeerson and a committee of five, occurred primarily on August 2, 1776 at Independence Hall (the Pennsylvania State House) in Philadelphia. The 56 delegates to the Second Continental Congress represented the 13 former colonies which had declared themselves the "United States of America," and they endorsed the Declaration of Independence which the Congress had approved on July 4, 1776. All of the signatories were white males of European descent. Some of them were slave-owners. Get that in ya!

A Canuck replies: Canada has much to be proud of!

In response to our pre-Canada Day post, Agent 6 says that, although Canada someetimes feels like a third-world country [Canuckistan? Ed.], it has a lot to be proud of, to stand up for. Our agent refers us to "Standing up for Canada", an essay by Spencer Fernando of the National Citizens Coalition, which appeared on their site yesterday, Canada Day. It's worth reposting in full.

With Canadian Values & History Under Attack, Canadian Patriots Must Fight Back

Canada has much to be proud of.
We have built a technologically advanced nation. We have welcomed people from across the world into the Canadian family.

We have often lived up to the inheritance of western civilization and democracy that we were blessed with, building a country that offers a larger degree of freedom than almost any other nation.

We have fought on the side of freedom and justice in two world wars, and played a key role in the fight against fascism and communism.

For all those reasons and more, Canadians should feel proud of ourselves for the country we have built.

We should also feel proud of those who made all of this possible, including our first Prime Minister John A. Macdonald. If Canada is a great country today, then it couldn’t have happened without those who helped create the country in the first place. While no historical leaders look perfect in the context of the modern world, they must be judged relative to other world leaders, and in that regard, the Fathers of Confederation come out far ahead.

And yet, despite these obvious reasons to feel proud of Canada, the reality is that Canadian patriotism and history is under attack like never before.

This is an attack from within, pushed largely by radical far-left ‘academics’ who teach nothing but hatred for everything Canada stands for, demonize our history, promote communism, give a free pass to China, and seek to purposely divide everyone along race, gender, and tribe.

They have indoctrinated many, and the indoctrination continues. Many of those academics are outright communists and marxists, and are somehow allowed to push that horrendous agenda while working at public institutions largely funded by your tax dollars.

Their indoctrination creates the kind of thinking that leads a sitting PM to claim Canada is currently committing genocide, and pushes our elites to think that the brutal Chinese Communist Party is somehow a moral equivalent of our democratic allies.

It’s the kind of thinking that leads the Chronicle Herald to issue a disgraceful trigger warning about the Canadian flag, as if they should be concerned someone would be ‘upset’ by seeing the flag of our nation.

It’s the kind of thinking that leads the City of Calgary to have been fine with large protests earlier in June, while issuing a warning that Canada Day events will be “shut down.”

And it’s the kind of thinking that leads the City of Regina – in a province where Conservatives won 14 out of 14 seats, to talk about the Sir John A. Macdonald statue representing “a harmful legacy to members of our community,” and saying they are “reaching out for guidance on responding to harmful legacies.”

If a statue of John A. Macdonald can be on thin ice even in a deeply Conservative province, that tells us how far the radicals have gone in their infiltration of institutions and their growing control over the narrative.

As we watch all of this, it’s easy to think that it’s just some temporary craziness that will go away. But it won’t.

The radicals are seeking to rule by fear, pushing the most extreme agenda while denouncing anyone who disagrees as a ‘racist.’ They count on regular, good, patriotic Canadians like us to just hope it all disappears and ‘goes back to normal.’ While we wait, they push and push and push, seeking to overturn everything and replace it with the 'woke inquisition' of guilt, chaos, and violence.

They seek to turn patriotism into a taboo, and try to falsely convince people that Canada’s history is all bad with no redeeming qualities. Of course, if we lose our history, if our nation is demonized, and if patriotism is demolished, then Canada’s future will be disastrous.

A country that forgets its foundation, forgets its values, and stops defending itself will soon lose that which made it special, and all those things we are proud of will not endure.
That’s why those of us who are proud of Canada, those of us who are patriotic Canadians must fight back.

We need to stand against attempts to remove statues of our historic leaders.
We need to push back online and in person when we see people trying to divide Canada and demean our history with marxist rhetoric.

We must draw attention to the fact that all these groups pushing radical ideas don’t represent Canadian values, but in fact represent the same kind of radical leftist extremism that has led to so much destruction and violence around the world.
And we must be confident enough to recognize that we have every right to be proud of Canada and to be Canadian patriots.

On Canada Day, we must recognize that an ideological battle is underway, and rededicate ourselves to stopping the subversion of our nation. We must ensure that all we have built is not destroyed by those who hate our country.

Noam Chomsky on the "Crisis of Democracy" + VIDEO

Here is an excerpt from Matt Taibbi's interview with (((Noam Chomsky))), "Appendix B" to Hate Inc., which I reviewed last the weekend.

The Crisis of Democracy, which came out in 1975 [was] the first publication of the Trilateral Commission, which is a group of liberal internationalists from Europe, United States, and Japan, three main centers of capitalist democracy.

...The "Crisis of Democracy" is that in the 1960s, all kinds of sectors of the population that are supposed to be passive and apathetic begin to try to enter the political arena to press for their own interest and concerns, and that imposes too much of a burden on the state, which becomes ungovernable. So, what we need is "more moderation in democracy." That's their phrase. People should go back into their corners and leave it to us.

In fact, the American rapporteur Samuel Huntington looked back kind of nostalgically to the Truman years. He says Truman was able to govern the country politically with the aid of just a few Wall Street bankers.

Then we had democracy. But he goes after the media. he says the media have bcome too adversarial, too independent. We may even have to institute government controls to try to contain them, because of what they're doing.

That's the liberal position. The Trilateral Commission also went after what they called the de-legitimation of the universities. They said that the institutions -- and this is their phrase -- these institutions responsible for the "indoctrination of the young" -- are being de-legitimized.

We've got to have more indoctrination. Remember, that's the liberal end of the spectrum. Over to the right wing, you get much harsher things... but that's the intellectual background. We've got to stop "too much democracy," "too much freedom."

The 1960s were always called the "Time of Troubles". That was a time when all this started.

The emphasis is mine. I've been saying as much since the hippy-dippy `60s, which I remember well. Just because Prof. Chomsky is a leftie peacenik doesn't make him wrong. I'm putting Manufacturing Consent, recommended by Matt Taibbi, on my reading list. Oh... wait...



You can stop listening at 8:35 when the speaker starts talking about the Iowa primary (although it's a good example of the media manipulation under consideration.) What precedes that part pretty well sums up what both Noam Chomsky and Matt Taibbi are saying. It all has to do with money. Surprised?
