Sad tales from the Heart of Wokeness

In "Fearless predictions for 2023" (WWW 10/1/23), Walt predicted that at least one of the three following heads of government would be out of office by Christmas, as a result of resignation, revolution or death: "Pope" Francis,  Demented Joe Biden, and  Justin "F*ck" Trudeau. Lifetime pct .989.

My batting average would be higher had I foreseen the pleasant surprises of the resignations of not one but three authorities of the wokest kind, all of which have occurred in the last month. A big Nelson Muntz HA-ha has already gone out to New Zealand's Queen of the Lockdowns, Jacinda "Karen" Ardern. Today we add two "leaders" from the wokest country on earth, Canuckistan.

The first is Brenda Lucki, Commissioner (top cop) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, whose retirement was announced yesterday. HA-ha!

Ms Unlucki was appointed by Prime Minister Blackie McBlackface, the well-known "male feminist", because she's a woman. Oh, and she also happens to be married to Ray Gauthie, a relative of former finance minister Bill Morneau. That could explain why M Trudeau was never arrested for violating ethics laws in the SNC-Lavalin or numberous other affairs.

In a statement announcing what she called a "personal decision", Ms Unlucki said she has decided to retire ahead of reaching five years in the role. Her last day will be March 17th.

We are assured that the timing of her resignation has nothing to do with the impending (tomorrow!) release of the report of the Whitewash Rouleau Commission into the brutal repression of the Freedom Convoy, one year ago.

Brenda has been criticized for not speaking up in the cabinet meeting at which Mr Socks invoked the Emergencies Act to quash all dissent, although emails from Ms Lucki show that she thought there were other alternatives. This prompted Alberta's justice minister to call for her resignation, to which Ms Lucki responded by asserting she remained "fully committed to leading the RCMP."

March will see the release of the final report of the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission. They have been looking into how the RCMP handled the 2020 killing rampage in Nova Scotia that involved a gunman using a replica RCMP vehicle. Ms Unlucki has on several occasions denied accusations of political interference in the case.

But wait, there's more. In 2020, amid conversations around the woke hobby horse of defunding the police, Ms Lucki faced calls to resign after saying that she struggled with "five or six" definitions of systemic racism. She then quickly acknowledged what she called the national police service's "history of racial discrimination."

Looks from here as if Ms Unlucki has decided to fall on her sword to save PM McBlackface from the embarrassment of having to fire here. Further reading: "Hiring based on gender/workeness rather than merit: not a good idea", WWW 23/1/21.

We turn now to news from Toronto, aka The Wormy Apple -- a "world-class city" in the sense that it has world-class problems of crime, homelessness, crumbling infrastructure, and did I mention crime?

John Tory -- Tory by name, "progressive" by inclination -- ran for re-election in October on the "politics of hope", taken whole and unadulterated from the teachings of The Prez. He won in a landslide. Because Toronto.

This week, surprise surprise, he resigned in the wake of the revelation by the Toronto Red Star of his affair with a former staffer. HA-ha!
This is like Lori Lightfoot winning re-election on February 28th [Ya think? Ed.] and then resigning because she's been sleeping with Hunter Biden!

According to Hizzoner, the relationship began during the Covid-19 Dempanic, when he and his long-time wife were spending "lengthy periods apart." Honesty John, has always made much of his reputation for integrity, said he was stepping down so he can "reflect on my mistakes" and "do the work of rebuilding the trust of my family."

That's all? Errr, no. Mr Tory also said the relationship "ended by mutual consent" earlier this year, adding that the former staffer had also decided to pursue employment outside of city hall. The word on Bay Street is that she landed in the executive offices of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, with which, by virtue of being a trustee of the Rogers family trust, the now-ex-mayor has some connection.

The shadow of #MeToo looms in the background. Further reading: "Canada's top general latest victim of 'Me Too'", WWW 4/2/21.

VIDEO: What was Bill Burr doing on "Saturday Night Live"?

Walt doesn't watch Saturday Night Live for obvious reasons -- there's enough anti-Trump propaganda on the news -- so was mildly surprised that they had Bill Burr on this weekend. I wondered if BB would dilute the vitriol in his usual routine to suit the tastes (read: prejudices) of SNL's New York liberal producers... and audience. Here's what happened.

Seemed to me that Mr Burr stayed more or less true to form. But so did the audience. He was dying out there! The American people -- those on the coasts, anyway -- are so woke that nothing is funny any more. Everything must be taken seriously, so you can't rag on gay pride, white women, "wokeness" or any of the liberal shibboleths and expect to not be the next victim of the cancel culture.

One of our assiduous readers commented, "I find the whole drift into swearing, open sex, and incorrectness sad." Maybe our reader never listened to one of Bill Burr's monologues before, but I have to tell you, this wasn't your normal Big Balls Billy speaking. Compared with something like "The Philadelphia Incident", he toned his act down for lamestream TV.

Even so, the usual suspects dropped the shithammer on him for being insensitive, politically incorrect, yada yada yada. But "Being furious about Bill Burr's caustic comedy is a waste of time", as the Globe and Mail's John Doyle wrote yesterday. For those who can't or won't punch through the paywall, here's part of his review.

Bill Burr...opts for that old-fashioned stance of reason over passion. Some comics are enraged by what they call "cancel culture" and deliberately provoke in order to push boundaries and buttons. Burr simply takes the view that, as he sees it, sensitivity issues have gone too far. He's a 52-year-old white guy, married to a Black woman, he tells jokes and acts for a living, and he's skeptical about a lot of things.

It's easy to take Burr's jokes out of context, string them together and paint a picture of him as a misogynist jerk. In a recent interview, he said, "Comedy is a pastime. The pastime is making fun of something you're not supposed to make fun of because that gives you a mental break from all the taxing crap you have to do. Not everything has to be important."

Bill Burr: Paper Tiger, taped at the Royal Albert Hall in London, is the most recent and a fascinating example of Burr's tactics, and it's especially trenchant because he's not talking to an American audience in the venue. He gets busy mocking feminism, the #MeToo movement and Michelle Obama.

Paper Tiger is where he is now. He's like someone who shed the straitjacket of insecurity about his role and his humour. He's not aiming to demolish the current culture of outrage and sensitivity. He sees it for what it is, a movement that sometimes puts passion over reason and his lived experience tells him to be skeptical. He's nobody's enemy and he's no destroyer. He's just saying that everything is flawed, including him.

Couldn't have said it better myself. [You can say that again. Ed.] I hope Bill Burr keeps talking. It's so good to hear someone say what so many of us are thinking, and if the "woke" types don't like it, that't too [expletive deleted. Ed.] bad!

Tiger Woods "an unworthy recipient of a great honour?"

Speaking of liberal bias (see previous post), let us ask ourselves: What would it take to get the lamestream media to denounce the giving of a medal to an outstanding black athlete? You know the answer, right? If the medal is given by still-President Trump, then it's just so wrong on so many levels!

That's been the response of many in the (((controlled media))) to Monday's awarding by President Trump to Tiger Woods of America's highest civilian honour -- the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Mr Trump describing the 43-year-old black golfer as a "true legend" who transformed golf and then fought through years of injury to return to the sport's summit. Mr Woods is the fourth golfer to earn that distinction, and the youngest. He is one of the greatest to ever play his sport. To recover from multiple back surgeries and rehabs and knee surgeries and win as he did in Augusta is one of the truly amazing stories of this year. What could be wrong with that?

Well, lots, if you listen to or read the usual suspects in the lamestream media. One blogger writes that receiving a nation's highest civilian honour is supposed to be about the totality of a person. That goes to behaviour and contribution and impact outside of a sport. It goes to high moral character and comporting oneself with dignity and grace all the time. In his opinion, Mr Woods doesn't qualify because #MeToo, besides which he's just not a nice person. Nothing to do with being black of course.

If that's so, why did President Trump honour him? Isn't that obvious? It's just an example of Mr Trump's crass desire to take care of his friends! And for that reason, the award "diminishes what should be a grand, grand honour for others." Nothing to do with Mr Woods, really. It's all about Donald Trump.

Elsewhere, NBC Nightly News broadcast a clip of WaPo columnist Eugene Robinson suggesting that the award was diminished. (Apparently a memo has been circulated suggesting the use of that D-word.) "He gives this award, which was a hallow award, maybe someday it will be one again, to people he wants to associate himself with. And so, he likes golf," said Mr Robinson.

Over at the Clinton News Network, Jim Acosta told Wolf Blitzer, "The president’s company, the Trump Organization, hired Tiger Woods to design a golf course at the president's company's golf course in Dubai. That obviously shows that there are some business ties between these two men. And I suppose a critic could argue after watching all of this that there might be somewhat of an advertisement going on here, a TV ad going on here in handing out this Presidential Medal of Freedom to Tiger Woods. It is, in effect, publicizing one of the Trump golf courses there in Dubai that Tiger Woods had a hand in. Although we should point out that particular course has not opened yet." Oh. Yes. Only fair to point that out.

I'm running out of space here, and have room for only two more examples of Trump Derangement Syndrome. CBS News gave airtime to Armen Keteyian, who co-authored a biography about Woods, to say that, yes, Mr Woods deserved the award, but "there's no question there is a branding and a marketing opportunity through the eyes of the President."

And here's my favourite, from an editorial in the Baltimore Sun which managed to sideswipe both the President and Tiger Woods. "Mr Woods has made his choice," the Sun thundered, "and part of his legacy will be embracing a man who incited bigotry and racism," adding that the President "regularly demonizes minorities and emboldens those who hate."

Walt says... Tiger Woods is a great golfer and is still going strong. Donald Trump is still President and will still be President 18 months from now. (Lifetime pct .991.) Get over it!

VIDEOS: Snowflakes, #MeTooers silence this popular holiday song

Now that the season is upon us, Walt presents, for your "winter holiday" [sic] enjoyment, the "official" version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside", performed by Idina Menzel & Michael Bublé.

Mr. Herbert approves this video. Walt can't believe that the usual suspects haven't demanded its removal from YouTube for the "sexualization of pre-teens". Other than that, what could be wrong with it? Plenty, according to "some" #MeTooers, SJWs and other NPC snowflakes.

Cleveland radio station WDOK-FM announced earlier this week that it won't play the song any more, in response to listener feedback. "Some" people [Who? How many? Ed.] took issue with the words used by one singer trying to persuade the other to stay inside, including such inappropriate language as "Baby, don't hold out."

North of the World's Most Porous Border, the ultra-PC lamestream media -- the Canadian Broadcorping Castration, Bell Canada and Rogers -- have joined the chorus (pun intended) of disapproval, pulling the politically incorrect song from their holiday rotations. Don't listen for it on the Fireplace Channel, because it won't be there!

CBC public affairs head Chuck "Charles" Thompson said "Song lyrics are always open to interpretation, and we fully acknowledge there are two camps regarding this issue. While we consider both points of view, and in light of the times we are living in, we have chosen to remove the song, for the time being [Until spring? Ed.] from two of our holiday music streams."

Across the pond, feminist writer Daisy Buchanan a writer's calls for the holiday classic Baby it's Cold Outside to be banned caused a furore on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday.

The ITV show hosted a debate about the Christmas song following news that a US radio station had removed the track from its playlist because the lyrics have 'predatory undertones' it deems 'inappropriate'.

Writer and feminist Daisy Buchanan infuriated Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan when she claimed that the famous Christmas ["holiday", shurely! Ed.] song was offensive to women and, in the 1949 film Neptune's Daughter, was played during a scene that "amounted to sexual assault." Mr Moron angrily told his guest to shut up when she insisted that in the movie scene the song is played while the male singer is "invading her space, he's coming up next to her."

You be the judge. Ed. has found a clip of the scene which has triggered the feminist snowflakes. Here `tis.

For all you old movie buffs who weren't quite sure, that's Esther Williams with Ricardo Montalban and, yes indeed, Red Skelton. Keenan Wynn, Xavier Cugat and Mel Blanc also appeared. Shame on all of them, the writers, directors, producers and MGM for popularizing such unbridled sexual harrassment. Let us speak of such things no more!

Ontario conservatives! Vote Tanya Granic Allen for PC party leader

Walt finds it easy to make fun Canadian Conservatives (with a big "C") because the majority of them are so close to the centre of the political spectrum as to be virtually indistinguishable from the centrist "blue Liberals". They believe in statism, progressivism, secular humanism, and government intervention is just about every aspect of life. Nowhere is this more true than in Ontario, where the alternative to Kathleen Wynne's detestable and detested Liberal government is a party that calls itself "Progressive Conservative" -- an oxymoron if ever there was one.

When the Regressive Convertibles (as the late Dr Foth used to call them) chose a new leader, Patrick Brown, a couple of years ago, there were some social conservatives who hoped that the PCs (as they call themselves) would dare to embrace Christian family values, particularly as regards the Wynne government's pro-queer agenda, particularly their proposed new sex education curriculum, about which Walt has written before. See, for example, "Liberal government of Ontario plans further attack on parental rights", WWW 27/2/17.

It was not to be. Patrick Brown flip-flopped on the sex ed issue like a beached mackerel. During one by-election, a letter was sent out over his name saying he was against the new curriculum. Mere hours later he said he was for it, and the letter had been sent out "by mistake". He then became an enthusiastic supporter of the lesbian premier's agenda, when he said, "I strongly support the updated sex-ed curriculum. I will never support removing LGBT sensitivity or combating homophobia from schools." How's that for "progressive conservatism"?

With Patrick Brown, there was no room for social conservatives -- or sanity -- in the Ontario PC party. But Patrick Brown is gone now, a victim of #MeToo. And the PCs are scrambling to find a new leader. There are three candidates, none of whom has said flatly that he or she (there are two women, one man, running) will listen to social conservatives, let alone be a strong voice for family values and the importance of life.

So... Tanya Granic Allen has stepped forward. Mrs Granic Allen is the President of Parents As First Educators, and, as mentioned in the post referred to above, has been in the forefront of the campaign to stop Kathleen Wynne and all her works. Late last week, Mrs Granic Allen announced that she would enter the contest for the leadership of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives, if she can muster up the votes and the funds needed to do so.

Can Tanya Granic Allen win? Frankly, Walt doesn't think so, but that's not the point. The point is to show the "serious candidates" that there is significant support out there -- by which I mean outside of Toronto, the fons et origio of all that is evil -- for true conservative principles and the Christian values on which Western society was built.

You can help! The first thing you need to do -- by 5 PM EST this coming Friday, February 16th -- is become a member of the party. You need to be: (a) a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, (b) living in Ontario, and (c) 14 years of age or older. That's all. It costs just $10 to join, and you can do it online, at secure.ontariopc.com/Partyjoin. (Please leave the window asking who referred you blank!

If you need help getting your member, leave a phone message at 416-763-7233, and someone will call you back and help you to register. Once you've registered, please e-mail tanya@pafe.ca to let her know you've done so. Very soon, you'll receive more information about how you can vote. You don't need to attend a convention or any party meetings. Voting is going to be online and/or by snail-mail. (How's that for conservative?)

Then there's the money. The entrance fee for the race is $100,000. Until Mrs Granic Allen is officially registered as a candidate, donations aren't tax-deductible, but they are very necessary! If you can help, please say so in your e-mail, and once a campaign account is set up, Tanya's team will let you know.

If you live in Ontario and share the values and ideals that motivate Tanya, Walt urges you to get your membership in the PC party and lend her your support. Remember, the membership deadline is Friday, February 16th, at 5 PM EST! You don't even have to get out of your chair, but please act now!

Still thinking about it? Here's a very short (1:50) video of Dr Jordan Peterson talking with Tanya and one of Walt's favourite conservative activists, Queenie Yu, about gender ideology.
