Aussies foil Islamic terrorist plot to bring down an airliner

Walt takes off his hat -- the one with the corks dangling from the rim -- to the Australian rozzers (= police) and government for their candour in saying, right off the bat, that they believe "Islamic-inspired terrorism" is behind the plot to bring down an airplane, foiled by the arrest of four men in raids on Sydney homes this weekend.

Aussie Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said that security has been increased at Sydney Airport since Thursday because of the plot. "I can report last night that there has been a major joint counterterrorism operation to disrupt a terrorist plot to bring down an airplane," he told reporters. "The operation is continuing."

Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin said he didn't yet have a lot of detail on the specifics of the attack, the location and timing. He could say only that "in recent days, law enforcement has been become aware of information that suggested some people in Sydney were planning to commit a terrorist attack using an improvised device." But, when asked if ISIS was behind the plot, Mr Colvin was politically incorrect enough to say, "We believe it's Islamic-inspired terrorism."

AP quoted Greg Barton, a "security expert" with Deakin University in Melbourne, as saying that the first plot to target aircraft in Australia, which is the highest aspiration of many extremists, was a "pretty big threshold moment." He went on to say that the plotters were apparently making a peroxide-based explosive device rather than using nitrate-based chemicals that can be detected by airport security swab tests.

Islamic fanatic Salman Abedi used a peroxide-based explosive, triacetone triperoxide, better known as TATP, to kill 22 concert-goers in Manchester, UK, just over two months ago. According to Prof. Barton, "TATP is called 'Mother of Satan' because it often kills the bomb maker because it's very unstable as it's mixed. But if it's mixed well, it can be very potent and a small amount can be enough to bring an aircraft down if it's done very, very expertly."

The plan most likely was to take the explosive on board in carry-on luggage unless there was a baggage handler involved who could ensure that a stowed bomb exploded near the fuselage where it would be most damaging. This may be the method used to cause the crash of Egyptian Airlines flight MS804 in May of 2016. French investigators called it an accident, but Walt suggests taking their findings cum grano salis. See "MS804: Where there's smoke there's fire", WWW 21/5/16.

Names of the four Mohammeds ["men", shurely! Ed.] arrested (but not yet charged) have yet to be released. Walt presumes they are, at this very moment, "helping police with their investigations". May I suggest that before the coppers put the rubber hoses away, they ask the detainees what they know about MS804, and, while they're at it, MH370. Sooner or later, the pieces of the Islamic jigsaw puzzle must fit together!

Swarthmore pseudo-Marxists disband because of "white privilege"

It's getting very hard, nowadays, to tell the difference between life and satire in the Excited States of America. Conservatives and other right-thinking people have been saying for decades that our universities are hotbeds of immorality, Communism and worse. See, for example, such fine satirical stories as The Zebra Derby and Barefoot Boy with Cheek, by Max Shulman.

The author makes great fun of the pseuds masquerading as Marxists and SJWs striving to uplift the masses. Over six decades later we have news of a self-styled Marxist student group at Swarthmore College, which recently disbanded itself after realizing that its members were too rich and too white to be real Commies.

According to screenshots confidentially provided to CampusReform by an individual with access to the group's private Facebook page, the demise of the Swarthmore Anti-Capitalist Collective (SACC) came in the wake of a farewell letter from a member who had decided the group could never be an effective proponent of "unproblematized anticapitalist politics" due to its "history of abuse, racism, and even classism."

"From my understanding SACC disbanded because they realized the makeup and tactics of their group was at odds with their espoused principles," Swarthmore Conservative Society President Gilbert Guerra told CampusReform. "Their main support base was middle-upper class white kids who enjoy jogging."

The farewell letter corroborates Mr Guerra's understanding, asserting that "SACC's fundamental failure" was that "at its formation, it was made up of entirely white, with the exception of one person of color*, students." To make matters worse, "not one of [the founding members] are [sic] from low-income and/or working class backgrounds." Walt gives that statement a failing grade because, apart from the typical US collegians tenuous grasp of English grammar, the writer failed to include the phrase "white privilege".

Arguing that "low-income people of color [i.e. poor blacks. Walt] should never be an afterthought in a group whose politics supposedly focus on their liberation," the author then went on to accuse SACC of having a "history of abuse, racism, and even classism that was never adequately addressed or recognized despite constantly being brought up as an issue."

Book review: "What Happened" by Hillary Clinton

As a public service, Walt presents the entire text of the new book Hillary Clinton is writing, explaining what happened in the 2016 presidential election. Save yourself $39.95 (or whatever exorbitant price they're going to put on it). Here's the whole thing.

You're welcome.

VIDEO: "Allahu akbar!" - Muslim fanatic attacks Hamburgers

Having just got over three days and nights of riots coincident with the meeting of the G-20 talking shop, the police in the German city of Hamburg let down their guard (figuratively and literally) this week. Sure enough, today brought yet another attack on innocent "infidels" by a crazed Muslim fanatic.

One Hamburger -- that's what residents of Hamburg are called -- was killed and four others bloodied and wounded this afternoon in a rampage inside a supermarket in the Barmbek district. Yelling "Allahu akbar!", the attacker stabbed a 50-year-old man, killing him, then stabbed and wounded another six as he ran from the scene. Witnesses followed the man and alerted die Polizei, who quickly subdued the assailant and placed him under arrest. Here's one of the witnesses describing what he saw. (English subtitles. List of good websites at the end.)

Herr Inspektor Katzenjammer fed the meeja the usual PC line that "the motive is not yet known". What is known is that ISIS has been urging its followers to use knives or vehicles in order to facilitate more attacks and Germany has been the site of past Islamist incidents. The German newspaper Bild and an eye-witness to the assault said the man yelled "Allahu Akbar" during the bloody spree.

In keeping with recent custom, the attacker's name, nationality, ethnicity, religion and/or immigration status were not been immediately revealed by the German authorities. However, Reuters reported a few hours ago that the killer was a 26-year-old migrant, born in the United Arab Emirates, who was supposed to leave the country but could not be deported "because he did not have the necessary identification papers."

All in the family: Islamic honour = "barbaric cultural practices"

From the Islamic Republic of Pakistan comes news of what local police are calling an "honour crime" -- the "revenge rape" of a 16-year-old girl in retribution for her brother's rape of another girl. (Reuters) - Pakistani police have arrested 25 members of an informal village council accused of ordering the rape of a 16-year-old girl as revenge for her brother's alleged sexual assault of another girl. But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more. The first assailant's father is a brother of the second assailant's grandfather. So that's two rapes in two days, all in one extended family.

The rapes took place in a small village called Muzaffarabad, a suburb of the city of Multan, in Punjab province. Ahsan Younus, chief of Multan's police department, told the meeja, "They are victims and accused at the same time.... It’s barbaric."

As indeed it is. But the case is far from shocking. Such honour crimes still take place in some parts of Pakistan and India, and are not unknown in the USA and Canada, where "refugees" and other immigrants have brought the barbaric customs and practices of their native lands -- female genital mutilation, for example -- with them.

Earlier this month, a local council, known in local languages as a panchayat or jirga, was called after a family accused a 16-year-old boy of raping a 13-year-old neighbour. The council ruled that the sister of the boy should be handed over to the victim's brother to be raped. An eye for an eye, or in this case... well, never mind. The girl was duly handed over by her family, and the punishment was carried out on July 17th.

The case came to light a couple of days later, when both families filed criminal charges with police, each accusing the other family's son of rape. Questioning both sides in the cases soon revealed the role of the informal village council, according to Chief Younus. "All the village council elders who ordered the revenge rape have been arrested," he said. "A total of 29 people were involved in this ghastly crime, and we have 25 of them in our custody." Both the victims and their mothers have been sent to a women's protection center, he added, without explaining what would happen when the women eventually return to their village.

The Husband Store

Walt got this little piece of humour from his old friend Dr CZ, in Fairyland (aka Zimbabwe).

At long last, God answered the sisters' call. The Husband Store -- a store that sells husbands -- is open for business. There women can go in and freely choose their dream husbands. At the entrance is a description of how the store operates. One of the rules is that one can visit the store only once. There are six floors and the positive attributes of the men increases as the happy shopper ascends the staircase. However, the one strict rule is: "no reverse!" A woman can choose any man from a particular floor. If she can't make her pick from one floor, she can try the floor above, but she can't return to choose a husband from the floor she has previously passed. Shoppers are only allowed to come down to exit the building!

So... a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.
On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1: These men have jobs and love the Lord.
She passed.

The second floor sign reads:
Floor 2: These men have jobs, love the Lord and love kids.
She passed.

The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3: These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids and are extremely good looking.
“Wow!” she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:
Floor 4: These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are good looking and help with the housework.
"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 5: These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor. Here the sign says:

Floor 6: You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

VIDEO: Gavin McInnes previews upcoming movies releases

Spoiler alert: The YouTube title for Brother Gavin's latest video is "Stop Making Our Movies Politically Correct". Watch his mini-previews and find out why Walt hasn't been to the cineman (= movie theater, for Americans) since 2014.

I'm planning on going to see Dunkirk, though. I can't believe there's finally going to be a WWII movie in which the Allies do something great without the leadership of John Wayne.
