VIDEO: Tourism in Zimbabwe: visiting the ruins of Rhodesia

Earlier this month we posted "The truth about Rhodesia - a warning to liberals of the AABC", a video explaining how, in 1980, the British betrayed their kith and kin in Rhodesia, and gave the country, now renamed Zimbabwe over to the Marxist-oriented Comrade Robert Gabriel Mugabe, whose ZANU-PF party has ruled the unfortunate country ever since.

"Majority rule" has turned the once-prosperous (pre-1980) country into the sort of place characterized by President Trump as a "shithole". It has been ruined by ignorance, incompetence and corruption. John Edmonds, In the video, John Edmonds presents a potted history of Zimbabwe, then embarks on a tour to see for himself the ruins of Rhodesia and the reality of the failed state today.

 

This video too can well be described as a cautionary tale. This is what happens when you hand your country or state (Hello, California!) over to letting loony lefties whose "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" (DEI) agenda is driven by anti-white racism, gender ideology and a complete ignorance of economics. Swarthmore pseudo-Marxists disband because of "white privilege"

It's getting very hard, nowadays, to tell the difference between life and satire in the Excited States of America. Conservatives and other right-thinking people have been saying for decades that our universities are hotbeds of immorality, Communism and worse. See, for example, such fine satirical stories as The Zebra Derby and Barefoot Boy with Cheek, by Max Shulman.

The author makes great fun of the pseuds masquerading as Marxists and SJWs striving to uplift the masses. Over six decades later we have news of a self-styled Marxist student group at Swarthmore College, which recently disbanded itself after realizing that its members were too rich and too white to be real Commies.

According to screenshots confidentially provided to CampusReform by an individual with access to the group's private Facebook page, the demise of the Swarthmore Anti-Capitalist Collective (SACC) came in the wake of a farewell letter from a member who had decided the group could never be an effective proponent of "unproblematized anticapitalist politics" due to its "history of abuse, racism, and even classism."

"From my understanding SACC disbanded because they realized the makeup and tactics of their group was at odds with their espoused principles," Swarthmore Conservative Society President Gilbert Guerra told CampusReform. "Their main support base was middle-upper class white kids who enjoy jogging."

The farewell letter corroborates Mr Guerra's understanding, asserting that "SACC's fundamental failure" was that "at its formation, it was made up of entirely white, with the exception of one person of color*, students." To make matters worse, "not one of [the founding members] are [sic] from low-income and/or working class backgrounds." Walt gives that statement a failing grade because, apart from the typical US collegians tenuous grasp of English grammar, the writer failed to include the phrase "white privilege".

Arguing that "low-income people of color [i.e. poor blacks. Walt] should never be an afterthought in a group whose politics supposedly focus on their liberation," the author then went on to accuse SACC of having a "history of abuse, racism, and even classism that was never adequately addressed or recognized despite constantly being brought up as an issue."

British election too close to call?

I can work up but little interest -- and less excitement -- about the UK general election. Polling day is less than 24 hours off. I won't be voting, don't even know how to bet.

Theresa Maybe (as The Economist dubbed her) called the snap election after only two years in power, hoping to run a bare majority in the House of Commons up to awesome numbers. The thinking (?) behind doing so appears to have been that the UKIP had effectively disbanded itself after the Brexit referendum, and the Labour Party had all but committed suicide by choosing a leader -- Jeremy Corbyn -- from the loony left. [But he's on the right in the picture! LOL Ed.] The Liberal Democrats, the party of the mushy middle, look like being reduced to only a handful of seats, and the Green Party have yet to elect a member of parliament.

As recently as a couple of weeks ago, Mrs May looked to have the winning strategy. The polls had her Conservative Party well ahead, with most of the betting being on the spread. Then came the Manchester massacre. Then, just last weekend, the London Bridge terrorist attacks. As if those things weren't enough to shake one's faith in Mrs May's leadership, she flip-flopped on a pledge to end the cap on social care bills. The Reds [Labour, surely! Ed.] and even some of her own supporters said the financial impact on seniors -- very determined voters, that lot -- amounted to a "dementia tax". As for fighting back against Islamic terrorism, Mrs May is having trouble living down massive cuts to the police budget when she was Home Secretary, and her party's failure to cut immigration to under 100,000 per year, as they had promised.

So here we are, less than 24 hours out, and a projected Tory win by over 20% has dwindled to 6% or less, depending on which poll (if any) you believe. It's possible (but not probable) that Labour may win, making Mr Corbyn Prime Minister. That would really shake things up. Mr Corbyn appeals to the naïve young people who, in America, supported Bunny Sanders. But Mr Corby is way way to the left of Mr Sanders. He is an avowed Marxist, who, under previous leaders, defied the Labour whip 428 times. Among other things, he opposed anti-terrorist legislation (!) and the invasion of Iraq. His inner circle is even more hard-line. His shadow chancellor (= minister of finance) is an admirer not only of Marx but also of Lenin and Trotsky.

For many reasons, British politics has become almost as polarized (and polarizing) as that of the Excited States of America. Realistically, the choice for voters is between the right (Conservatives) and the hard left (Labour). There is no more "moderate centre". That means the real losers of tomorrow's election will be the "progressives" and liberals, and for that, much thanks.

Caritas International working with LGBT, abortion "rights" group

Thinking of giving money to the so-called Catholic charity Caritas International? If you're in favour of abortion, same-sex marriage, and the whole LGBT agenda, go right ahead. But if you think there's something outta whack about a "Catholic" charity helping to promote the sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, read this.

Caritas International is not actually one charity, but a consortium of "Catholic" relief agencies. And now they've gotten into bed with the Brazil-based World Social Forum, an organization that stands for everything but the moral order to which we are called by our Christian Faith.

According to the American Life League's Investigative Report, World Social Forum supports and promotes legal abortion and homosexuality, and is heavily influenced by Marxism. In its report, ALL provides numerous examples of the group’s references to work for "reproductive rights" and "decriminalized abortion". The group’s literature also has shown support for the campaign to promote "gender identity and sexual diversity". Events sponsored by the World Social Forum have featured displays in which images of pregnant women hang on crosses, identified as "victims of fundamentalism" in a clear reference to Christian prohibitions on abortion.

Caritas International is not alone in supporting the World Social Forum’s events. Catholic Relief Services, the international relief agency supported by the United States Conference of "Catholic" Bishops, has also joined in its secular humanist initiatives. Shame on these so-called "Catholic" agencies. May a just God give them the reward they richly deserve.
