Hiring based on gender/wokeness rather than merit: not a good idea

Some people think that Justin Trudeau, aka Mr Socks/Blackie McBlackface/Emperor Trudeau II, is Canada's head of state. Except in his own mind, he is not. Under Canada's constitution, the head of state is the foreigner pictured on the left as she welcomes her diverse daughter-in-law to Buckingham Palace.

Since Her Royal Highness, Elizabeth II, Defender of the Faith, Queen of Great Britain etc etc -- for that is her name and part of her title -- does not live in the Great No-longer-white North [and who can blame her? Ed.], she appoints (in theory) a representative known as the Governor General/ gouverneur général. [In Canada, they say everything twice. Ed.]

Being "G-G" is a pretty good gig. You get a hefty salary, unlimited expense account, fancy uniforms, a nice car (with driver), and an RCMP security detail to follow you on horseback when you go jogging around Rideau Hall, the mini-castle in Ottawa which you get to live in, all paid for by the Canadian sheeple. Giggity! [Um... you're thinking of another fictional character. Ed.]

But how do you get to be Governor General? Do they advertise the job? Where do you send your résumé? That, dear reader, is the $64 ($50 in real money) question! The process by which a Governor General is chosen is cloaked in secrecy. Certain liberal elites talk in hushed tones at conclaves and  soirées at Ennui-on-the-Rideau (Canada's capital) until a name "emerges" which the Prime Minister (currently Mr Socks) then recommends to the Queen.

The previous PM, Steve Harpoon, thought the process should be a little more clear, if not totally transparent, so he put in place a selection committee whose recommendation he accepted. That was the Rt. Hon. David Johnston, who served for seven years until 2017, and was widely esteemed as courteous, courtly and bland enough to be perfect for the job.

When it came time to nominate a successor, the committee started to look at several possible candidates. The only constraint was that the new G-G be a francophone (French-speaking), since the tradition since 1952 has been to alternate between francophones and anglophones. And latterly, in the interests of diversity and gender parity, it was obvious that the next G-G had to be a woman.

While the committee was considering its options, the arch-feminist Blackie McBlackface, all by himself, came up with a candidate whose "wow factor" was such that no further search was required. Indeed, Julie Payette, a former astronaut, was so obviously the only one for the job that her other qualifications and employment history need not be checked... at all! What could go wrong?

The answer: plenty! Ms Payette was born into the liberal elite. She was raised in Montréal’s toney Ahuntsic neighborhood, where she attended private schools before being chosen to attend the prestigious United World College of the Atlantic in Wales. There, she completed an International Baccalaureate diploma.

On her return to Canada, Ms Payette studied engineering at McGill University, graduating with B.A.Sc. in electrical engineering in the mid-1980s before obtaining a M.A.Sc. in computer engineering at the University of Toronto in 1990. Just two years later, Payette was hand-picked by a committee -- which included former astronaut and current (Liberal) Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau -- to become an astronaut at the Canadian Space Agency. And go into orbit she did, with Americans, of course.

She spoke both French and English. She could get by in Spanish, Italian, Russian and German, and she was the recipient of a whopping 28 honourary degrees. She is also a member of the Order of Canada as well as the Ordre national du Québec. On top of all that, she plays piano and has sung in multiple orchestras. How's that for "wow factor"?!

But Julie Payette ran into trouble when she came down from heavens into the real world. The Queen's signature was barely dry on the parchment of her appointment as Governor General when reports began to emerge of incidents in her personal life and past that chipped away at the perfect image portrayed on paper.

In 2001, it was revealed, she had a second-degree assault charge expunged from her police record. The incident happened while she was living in Maryland. The "alleged" victim was her then-husband William "Billie" Flynn, a retired Air Force pilot. The couple became uncoupled shortly thereafter.

Just one day after news of the expunged assault charge emerged, the Toronto Red Star reported that Ms Payette was involved in a "no-fault" fatal car accident in July 2011, in which a woman -- a pedestrian -- was killed. Mr Socks wouldn't confirm whether the two incidents had come up during the so-called vetting process. Holding back a tear, M Trudeau told the meeja "Obviously, our heart goes out to the family affected by this tragic accident. It was a terrible and tragic thing and we know that Mme Payette actually personally reached out to share her condolences with the family subsequent to the accident."

But wait, there's more. In 2013 Ms Payette landed a plum job as Director of the National Science Centre in Montreal, in spite of never having worked for that organization or in any similar capacity. She left that position "voluntarily" in October of 2016, a fact reported at the time by the Montreal Gazoo, which surely must have been known to whoever vetted Ms Payette's nomination. What they may not have known is that she was given a golden parachute of roughly C$200,000 to go away, following complaints about her treatment of employees.

But wait, there's still more. After leaving the Science Centre, Ms Payette was named to the Canadian Olympic Committe. She lasted there just under a year, leaving in 2017, not long before her appointment as the Queen's surrogate, after two internal investigations into her imperious treatment of staff.

Apparently verbal harassment and general bitchiness is Ms Payette's style, for that's what led to her abrupt departure from Rideau Hall. In July of this year, a CBC News report quoted a dozen confidential public servants and former employees who claim the Governor General belittled, berated and publicly humiliated Rideau Hall staff.

She was also said to have been unhelpful to her RCMP security guards, running away from them while out jogging around the grounds. [Maybe she just needed to take a leak? Ed.] Maclean's magazine reported that, for two years in a row, Payette's office at Rideau Hall ranked among the worst in the public service for harassment complaints. An annual government survey conducted last year showed 22% of respondents working for Rideau Hall claimed to have experienced harassment. Of those employees, 74% attributed the harassment to individuals with authority over them.

M Trudeau is now facing renewed criticism over his approach to choosing Ms Payette for the job. He persists in saying that the "vetting process was followed", but won't answer questions about how the red flags outlined above were, errr, overlooked. Ms Payette blames her personal secretary, a "dear friend" who she brought with her to Rideau to supplant a professional snivel servant. And, says the ex-GG, "different people experience things differently."

Haven't Canadians heard that before? Do Canadians care? Will they punish Mr McBlackface for making yet another bad book club selection? Don't bet on it. Lifetime pct .981.

Warning! "Body-shaming" latest form of political incorrectness

For decades -- centuries, even -- "fat jokes" were staples in the routines of every comedian and comedian wannabe, right up there with mother-in-law jokes. Walt remembers one alleged comedian, Leonard Libitsky, who made fun of his own fatitude, calling himself "Fat Jack Leonard". In 1964 he did a record called "How to Lose Weight with Fat Jack". The premise was that fat people could change if they wanted to, for instance if they got tired of being the butt of "fat jokes".

Walt also remembers a regular bit on the Garry Moore Show in which Garry's sidekick Durward Kirby, in the role of Senator Claghorn, did a half-dozen or so fat jokes, along the lines of:
"She's so fat that the post office is going to give her her own zip code!"
"She's so fat that when she gets into the same elevator you're in, you'd better be going down!"
"She's so fat that when she takes off her girdle, you'd better stand back or you'll get flabbed to death!"
Badabing, badaboom!

And then there was Married with Children, in which Al Bundy constantly made fat jokes about and at the expense of large ladies who came into his shoe store. Here's a video mix.

Yes, there's a "skinny joke" in there too. And an ageist "ugly joke". Bad, bad Al! Bad, bad writers! And bad, bad audiences, to laugh at other people's "challenges". How lucky we are to live in the enlightened 21st century, when that type of low humour is forbidden.

That's right, folks. It's now politically incorrect to make mooing sounds as fat women in yoga pants waddle down the street. Why, that's "body-shaming", a type of "bullying" which you can expect to be added to the ever-lengthening list of behaviours prohibited by our ultra-PC human rights codes.

Nowadays, thanks to the suffocating political correctness spread over the land like a wet blanket by our lamestream media and politicians, everyone (except old, straight, religious white guys like us here at WWW) is entitled to the protection of the nanny state from any form of insult, offence or embarrassment. So the next time you see someone who looks as if she/he/it belongs on the People of Walmart website -- I've got that one bookmarked! -- keep your mouth shut. Don't say you weren't warned.

Note from Ed.: While looking for a picture to go with this post, I stumbled on a website called Girls In Yoga Pants. Some of you may find it of interest. Some may find it indecent. Whatever your opinion, please keep it to yourself. Don't risk the wrath of the PC police!

High schoolers sexting nude pix... involving fruit!

CBCNews has an interesting report today from the eastern Ontario town of Napanee. Seems the Old Bill is thinking about charging some local high school students with, errr, something, after nude photos of teenage girls were allegedly swapped online. Our Canadian legal beagle (aka Agent 3) says the difficulty in knowing what charges to lay may stem from the sexting activity being (apparently) quite voluntary.

The Ontario Provincial Police have interviewed a number of students at Napanee District Secondary School, and the Limestone District School Board has suspended "about 15" boys and girls. Neither the coppers nor school officials would talk about the nature of the "inappropriate images", but the students were not shy about going public with what they saw.

Said one Grade 11 student, "There's some nudes being sent around between different ages and grades. It's pretty hard core. There's been some very inappropriate gestures, and some fruit used."

Students said the exchange of images has been going on for a long time. One kid told the CBC, "Everybody is doing it!"

Cue the inevitable expert on cyberbullying, one Rena Bivens, a sociologist at Ottawa's Carleton University. If teens won't stop sexting, she said, they should at least use precautions. Like what, Rena? Well, "you can cut your head out of the picture. That's one way to try to prevent your identity from being matched to that photo and being spread around."

Forces for Good in the community are rushing to help. The school notified parents in a recorded voicemail that it plans to discuss "cyber safety, and issues of respect and dignity".

And Krishna Burra, the school board's head of the "Safe and Caring Schools Program" said all students involved will need counselling. "Students who made bad choices on either side of this issue, they are going to need support and there's going to be the need for healing through all of this."

Walt is puzzling over how this "issue" can have two sides. What's the choice -- to sext or not to sext? How does a kid make a "bad choice on either side..." Strange...

As for the other buzzwords, let's see... "respect", "dignity", "safety", "counselling", "healing"... anything missing? Can't see anything about kids with raging hormones being allowed to be kids, but hey, this is the 21st century.

Note from Ed.: Surely you don't think we'd publish any of the pictures...especially the ones involving fruit! We don't want to get our dear readers into any trouble. In this era of political correctness, the Thought Police would probably jail you for even thinking about such things!

Will the next pope be a Canadian? Vatican insider thinks so

Surprising speculation from the panting heart of Rome! Noted Vaticanista Sandro Magister has just published a "classroom exercise" in which he predicts the next pope will be a cardinal from the New World. In yesterday's Chiesa, he wrote:

The metamorphosis underway in Catholicism worldwide is such that, if one wished to do a classroom exercise, the candidate for pope who most corresponds to it today is without a doubt Canadian cardinal Marc Ouellet, 68, multilingual, the former archbishop of Québec, which is one of the most secularized regions of the planet, a talented theologian of the Ratzingerian school, now the prefect of the Vatican congregation that selects new bishops, and above all for many years a missionary in Latin America.

Sr Magister's argument, concluded by that paragraph, is that the Church in Europe is moribund -- no argument there -- but "coming back strong" in the United States and growing by leaps and bounds in Asia and Latin America.

Walt confesses to being surprised by Sr Magister's rose-tinted view of the state of the Church in the USA. Some of the most poisoned fruits of Vatican II have been harvested in the USA. I refer to "clown masses" and other liturgical abuses, the plague of perverted priests and bishops and the ensuing cover-ups, the ferocious feminism and the general prevalence of "cafeteria Catholicism" amongst those -- espeically poewr-hungry politicians -- who have the nerve to call themselves "practising Catholics".

It's enough to make you think that the mainstream Church in the USA -- the majority of Catholics who accept Vatican II and all its errors -- has surrendered completely to the philosophies and forces of secular humanism.

But then, just when a traditionalist might be on the brink of despair, along comes a true leader like Francis Cardinal George, the Archbishop of Chicago, who has the courage to stick his head above the parapet and stand up for the freedom of the Catholic Church to preach and practise Her Faith as guaranteed by the Constitution.

Just last month, Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, did the same thing, in the face of the Ontario government's forcing Catholics to make room in their schools for "gay-straight alliances", so called. The "anti-bullying" bill -- truly a bullying bill in disguise -- is now law, but the Cardinal made his stand and made his point. Catholic voters won't forget.

So, perhaps Sr Magister is right. Even in the namby-pamby mainstream Church, which tries so hard to be politically correct and not offend apostates, heretics and infidels, there are some who are beginning to say we have gone too far down the road to a secular, humanist, post-Christian society. If one of them is chosen to fill the shoes of St. Peter, so much the better for the Church and for the world.

"Catholic" Premier of Ontario caves, allows "hug-a-queer" clubs

Dalton McGuinty, the Premier of the Canadian province of Ontario, claims to be a practising Catholic. (About half of Ontarians who identify themselves as "Christians" are Catholic, at least in name.) He is obviously a heterosexual, with a beautiful wife and numerous kids, and never hesitates to proclaim his belief in "family values". But when it comes to following the teachings of Holy Mother Church, he constantly proves himself one of those "cafeteria Catholics" who takes a pass on any Catholic principles that might cost him votes.

Latest case in point: McGuinty's government's continued pushing of the LGBT agenda in the Ontario educational system. The proposal of former Education Minister Kathleen Wynne -- a proud lesbian -- to start teaching kids as young as 8 or 9 that it's OK to be queer was quietly shelved after cries of outrage from parents (i.e. voters) of all faiths.

But the "gay community" keeps pushing, while at the same time working to hide their agenda under the cloak of something more innocent-sounding. Like anti-bullying legislation. No-one can defend bullying in schools or workplaces, right? And who gets bullied more than homosexuals? Everyone knows that queer-baiting goes on all the time in playgrounds and locker rooms across the province...nay, the nation!

The solution? "Gay-straight alliances". That's what the LGBT crowd wants us to call "hug-a-queer" clubs. And they want every school to have one, with a dedicated space in which gay boys and girls (or those who haven't made up their minds yet) can meet to... errr... do whatever it is they do. [Didn't it used to be the washrooms? Ed.]

Ontario's public school boards, generally dominated by liberal humanitarian "educationists" had no problem with this latest wheeze, but some Catholic boards -- Ontario has a separate, tax-funded "Catholic" school system -- and Catholic school principals drew a line in the sand. They were spurred on by a rare reminder from their bishops of the Church's teaching that homosexuality is morally and physically disordered -- contrary to God's law and natural law. "No gay-straight alliances in Catholic schools!" they said.

You might expect a government led by a Catholic to say it's up to the schools, and they didn't have to have GSAs if they didn't want to. But nooooo... The McGuinty government is a minority government, which means it could fall at any time, precipitating an election. And the queers have a lot of money and a lot of votes. So, better not offend them.

Hence a sudden (but not unexpected) flip-flop on the issue. At a student conference yesterday, Education Minister Laurel Broten announced the Liberal government’s Accepting Schools Act (sic), which gave schools a veto on names for any student club, would be amended, so that all schools — including those in the Catholic system — will not be able to stop students from calling "anti-homophobia clubs" "gay-straight alliances".

"Let’s remember these are student clubs and student voices matter in the naming of a student club," Ms Broten told reporters. A Mississauga student activist was thrilled.
"Our school forced a name on us," said Leanne Iskander, a self-described "queer" who goes to St. Joseph Secondary School, and belongs to the "Open Arms Club" that members hope to re-name.

And you thought Walt was being homophobic to use a word like "queer". That's pretty much what the light-in-the-loafers crowd call themselves. So, no more hissy-fits please.

Will there be a court challenge to the amended legislation, if it passes? Tom Collins -- the cardinal, not the drink -- will make a statement Monday.

Pro-queer schools agenda returns as "anti-bullying" legislation

On August 6th Walt warned you that the Ontario government is still hell-bent [excellent choice of words! Ed.] on pushing former education minister Kathleen "Sensible Shoes" Wynne's LGBTQ-friendly agenda into Ontario's publicly-funded schools. Yes, even those that are laughingly called "Catholic" schools. (The real Catholic schools, realizing that he who pays the piper calls the tune, remained private when the Catholic boards drank the Kool-aid.)

Six days ago, in "'Don't confuse me! I'm a girl!' sparks homo hissy fit", I wrote about the advertising campaign being mounted by the Institute for Canadian Values. The point is to get the Liberal government of Dalton McGuinty to stop forcing "equity and inclusive education" down the throats (or other orifices) of Ontario students.

But I didn't talk about the Libs' latest tactic. Knowing that gay-friendly programmes -- particularly the "Gay-Straight Alliances" which are being mandated under the latest version of the legislation -- are facing strong opposition, the Queen's Park spinmeisters are now positioning the pro-queer campaign as an exercise in stamping out bullying [queer choice of words! Ed.] in Ontario schools.

How so? Well, today's party line is that the main reason why kids pick on other kids is not because the others are fat or stupid. It's because they're gay, silly! Some of them are openly gay, and others are really gay but just don't realize it yet. They need to be taught that they're gay so they'll know why they're being bullied, and then the Correct-Thinking People can put a stop to it. A stop to bullying, that is, not a stop to being gay.

ICV isn't the only group speaking out against this. A larger and older group, Campaign Life Coalition, comprised of (mostly) Catholics and (some) evangelical Protestants, is calling on concerned parents to lobby their school board trustees and other politicians to block this diabolical deception. Here's a summary of Campaign Life's position on the question.

The primary purpose of Catholic education is to assist Catholic parents in the task of forming their children in the image of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, it is to inculcate in children the knowledge of, love of, and fidelity to, Jesus and the official teachings of the Catholic faith.

Today there are many voices who claim that a primary objective of Catholic education (beyond simple academic knowledge) is to promote "diversity" and "equity". Unfortunately, those terms have been politically twisted. They no longer resemble their original meaning, and now conceal a subversive agenda to undermine Catholic moral and sexual teaching.

Unfortunately, many Canadian Catholic school boards have accepted curriculum, speakers and resources which contradict Catholic teaching, principally in the area of human sexuality.

And it's not just the Christians who are taking up the poliltically incorrect cause. Here, from the Toronto Star, is a picture of Mendel Kaplan, of the Council of Orthodox Rabbis, along with lay leaders from the Catholic and evangelical Protestant communities.

At a press conference on December 12th, they denounced Premier Dalton McGuinty’s anti-bullying legislation, calling it a front for his radical sex education agenda. The man in the middle, Rondo Thomas, said "The anti-bullying legislation that Mr. McGuinty is proposing constitutes a violation of our religious freedoms that are guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and further to that, it violates the common law of separation of church and state."

Mr. Thomas went so far as to quote the premier’s mother. "The premier’s mother said to him, 'Dalton, I didn’t raise you this way'", he said. Jack Fonseca, representing the Campaign Life Coalition, also attacked McGuinty’s faith, calling him a "convenient Catholic" who proclaims his faith only at election time when he needs Catholic votes.

"Dalton McGuinty is unfortunately not a great Catholic on the moral issues," Mr. Fonseca said. "He supports abortion on demand, taxpayer funding of abortion and he supports gay marriage."

Fonseca accused the premier of misleading Ontarians as to the real meaning of the anti-bullying legislation, which he called "an attack on faith-based schools". Rabbi Kaplan agreed, saying he believes "the legislation encroaches on our religious freedoms."

Final comment (for today) from Walt: Ontario is not the only place where the powerful LGBT lobby is pushing its let's-all-be-queer agenda. Nor is Ontario the only place where nominally Catholic politicians totally disregard the teachings of their religion when crunch-time comes. Believers, stand up for what you know is right!
