Up to 34,000 African "refugees" to be deported...

...from Isarel. From Israel! Surely you didn't think it was going to be one of the AABC (America, Australia, Britain, Canada) countries, did you?
Only those champions of human rights, the Israelis, would have the chutzpah to send refugees and asylum-seekers back where they came from! And that's just what the government of (((Benjamin Netanyahu))) is going to do, starting this week.

On Sunday, the Israeli government started handing out notices to 20,000 male African migrants giving them two months to leave the country or risk being thrown in jail. They're being offered not just a plane ticket back to Africa, but the equivalent of $3500 in cash too. The message is clear -- take the money and go home!

There are some 34,000 African "refugees" and asylum-seekers in Israel, some of whom are seen in this picture saying "Hell no, we won't go!" [One of them seems to be upset that he didn't get his free bicycle. Ed.] Most of them came from veritable shitholes such as Sudan and Eritrea, and crossed into Israel through its porous border with Egypt prior to 2013 when Bibi erected... wait for it... a wall! (OK, it was more of a strong fence, but it did the trick. Donald Trump doubtless took note!) See "There goes the neighbourhood", WWW 10/8/12.

The Israeli government says the migrants not genuine refugees, but economic migrants, looking for work rather than asylum. Interior Minister (((Aryeh Deri))) said Israel's first obligation was to its own citizens, rather than the migrants. "They are not numbers, they are people, they are human and I am full of compassion and mercy," he told Army Radio. "But the small state of Israel cannot contain such a vast number of illegal infiltrators."

He was repeating what Prime Minister Netanyahu told his cabinet last September, that the tens of thousands of Africans who are living in Israel illegally "aren't refugees, or at least most of them aren't. Most of them are looking for jobs." He vowed, at that time, to "remove [the] illegal aliens who don’t belong here." See "All illegal aliens to be deported, government says", WWW 20/9/17.

The usual chorus of liberals and SJWs are whining that it's inhuman to send women and children to their death back in their homelands. The Israeli government insists that its deportationpolicy adheres to international law, and that people will not be sent back to Eritrea or Sudan, but to relatively safe places like Uganda. And, it adds, only men will be deported... at this time. Women, children and men with families in Israel will be allowed to stay for now, along with anyone having an unresolved claim for asylum. Nearly 15,000 asylum claims have been received. Of the 6800 requests reviewed so far, Israel has granted refugee status to 11 migrants.

Walt finds it hard to understand how so many American liberals and SJWs of the Jewish persuasion can be so vociferous in support of the DREAMers and other illegal immigrants, yet remain silent about Israel's treatment of those who have entered the Zionist entity illegally. I guess I just don't understand the principles and values of Judaism.

Schumer shutdown is about immigration; whose side are you on?

Note from Ed.: You know Walt was just kidding, yesterday, about WWW being a service of the US government. Walt [and Ed. Ed. ... oh ... this is my note already...] is fiercely independent of the government of any country anywhere. Moreover, although we recently started to allow advertising, which is placed by Google by the way, not by us, we're not in this for the money. We have yet to earn dollar one from over eight years of toil. [Get on with it! Walt] My point is that yesterday's post was meant to draw attention to the Schumer shutdown, about which Walt has something to say.

The shutdown of non-essential services resulting from the failure of Congress to agree on the temporary spending bill necessary to keep the government running and its snivel servants paid. The Democrats, led by Senate Minority Leader "Chuck" Schumer, refused to pass the bill (which had already cleared the House of Representatives) because it didn't include any measures to grant amnesty or otherwise protect the hundreds of thousands of DREAMers and others who are living in the USA without legal status as a result of the Obama DACA scheme.

The Democrats point the finger of blame in the other direction, saying the shutdown is President Trump's fault because he would not include in the temporary spending bill any measures to grant amnesty... Wait a minute! Isn't that the same thing? Why so it is. This fuss is all because the Democrats want all those "irregular", "undocumented" and just plain illegal immigrants who took advantage of American soft-heartedness (and soft-headedness) to stay here. Hey, they're all potential Democratic voters, if only their status can be "regularized".

So the fundamental issue here is immigration. President Trump wants to stop illegal immigration, and the Democrats want to keep the borders open and give a "path to citizenship" to anyone and everyone who can sneak in, regardless of their character or suitability for assimilation into American society. Donald Trump was elected President to close the porous border, to build the wall and keep American families safe from evil, illegal immigrants. Yet, one year after his Inauguration, Chuck Schumer and the Democrats continue to put the interests of illegal immigrants over those of Americans.

Here's a new campaign ad, released this weekend, which argues that Democrats are "complicit" in the murders and other violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants, as long as they continue to block funding for a wall along the US-Mexico border and hold up negotiations on pro-American immigration reforms. Political victory for Marine Le Pen: French deport migrants FAST

Marine Le Pen lost France's presidential election last year, but is now justified in claiming a moral victory as centrist (read: not quite socialist) President Emmanuel Macron adopts exactly the kind anti-migrant policies and tactics she advocated. The difference is nobody calls M Macron a racist or Islamophobe. They say only that he's being practical about cleaning the garbage off the streets of Paris.

While mouthing the usual liberal platitudes about brotherhood and diversity -- "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" and all that -- the French President has made clear he doesn't want economic migrants in France. As for the "refugees" and asylum-seekers, M Macron wants those who don't qualify for expelled, and quickly too!

M Macron has promised the French people, who are more than fed up with having to thread their way through hordes of bogus refugees -- mostly brown or black, mostly Muslim -- thronging the streets of the City of Light, that he will get migrants off France's streets and out of forest hideouts by the end of this year. With four days left, it's a safe bet that won't happen (lifetime pct .989) but the authorities are ramping up expulsions and allowing ID checks in emergency shelters. Can you imagine that happening in New York or Los Angeles or Toronto?!

The French president doesn't even want migrants to try to come to his country. He has been rolling out a multi-pronged approach that stretches to Africa (where most of the bogus claimants come from), with points set up in Chad and Niger to weed out potential economic migrants and preselect those certain of gaining asylum. Back at home, Interior Minister Gerard Collomb has ordered prefects to crack down on illegal immigration, "act quickly" to expel those who fail to gain asylum and report results within weeks.

That was in November. This month M Collomb went even farther, ordering regional authorities to set up mobile teams to run checks in emergency housing to ascertain the status of migrants. Emergency shelters are considered bedrocks of the French tradition of open arms to those in need and have been considered untouchable, even by security authorities, much like American "sanctuary cities".

Critics contend that Macron's increasingly tough policy on migrants contradicts his image as a humanist who defeated an anti-immigrant populist (Mme Le Pen) for the presidency, and has crossed a line passed by no other president in the land that prides itself as the cradle of human rights. And what does the leader of the Front National say? Probably the French equivalent of "I told you so."

Footnote: A learned professor at a French university tut-tutted that President Macron's policy was the toughest seen since World War II, and was really inconsistent with French respect for human rights, yada yada yada. He may have forgotten that just after WWII (before Mme Le Pen was born), the greatest French president of all time, Charles de Gaulle, warned that measures such as those now being employed would be necessary to keep France France! Canada braces for tsunami of DREAMers

Now that the flood of bogus refugees from Haïti has slowed to a trickle -- around 75 a day, down from 300 in July -- Canadian Prime Minister Justin "Junior" Trudeau and his alleged government were beginning to worry that there would be no more opportunities for virtue signalling. How fortunate for them that President Trump played right into their hands by announcing the end of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

DACA, which was accomplished by an executive order which Attorney General Jeff Sessions calls unconstitutional, has allowed young, undocumented immigrants (read: "illegal immigrants" or just "aliens") to remain in the US of A for years. The reprieve from deportation was supposed to be temporary, renewable every two years, while a "path to citizenship" was worked out. That path is to be found in the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM), a legislative proposal first introduced in the US Senate on 1 August 2001. It has been reintroduced several times since, but has failed to pass. Those who think it will ever become law are therefore rightly known as "DREAMers".

Now the DREAM has ended, and the DREAMers must wake up to the reality that they are in USA illegally and might be deported at any time. But, as the saying goes, when one door closes, God -- or in this case Justin Trudeau -- opens another. Unmindful (or downright heedless) of the anti-immigrant backlash engendered by his January tweet that Canada welcomes all those who are fleeing persecution in President Trump's America, M Trudeau has already let it be known that the door to Canada is open to DREAMers, tens of thousands of them. Hell, they don't even have to come in by the door. Just walk across the world's longest undefended border and no-one will stop you, except to carry your bags and give you directions to the welfare office.

The bearer of this good (for the DREAMers) news is none other than the Honourable Ratna Omidvar, a Canadian senator supposedly representing Ontario. In fact the sentiments she expressed today would not be shared by many outside of the Greater Toronto Area, but since that's where these "refugees from America" will wind up, that's OK.

Senator Omidvar is supposed to be an Independent senator -- not affiliated to any political party -- but she was nominated by Junior and is, in fact, rolling out the red carpet (geddit?) on behalf of the Liberal government. Presumably that's to avoid having the announcement made by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (seriously, that's his title), who is himself a refugee from Somalia, and a tad darker than the senator. And a (shudder) man. And a Muslim. Bad optics.

But I digress. What Senator Omidvar told the CBC (surprised?) today is that the DREAMers are precisely the kind of immigrants Canada should be pursuing for its economic migrant program. "These individuals are low-hanging fruit for us," she said. "They speak fluent English, they've been educated in the US, most of them have been to college or university, some of them have work experience. They understand the North American working culture. On top of that, in order to qualify to be a 'DREAMer' you have to have biometrics testing, you have to have a criminality check. So this is America's loss but it could be Canada's gain."

How many DREAMers should Canada take? The number of young people protected under President 0's DACA program is estimated at 800,000, give or take 25%. Even the most liberal of Canadian snowflakes would find that a rather large crowd to accommodate all at once, so Senator Omidvar proposes that Canada give "special consideration" to only 10,000 to 30,000. Since the Liberals don't want to tell Canucks they have to take in another 20,000 "refugees" (give or take 50%), the senator suggests the DREAMers by admitted either through the existing economic stream or as international students.

"We know that international students have already been identified by our system as priorities for permanent residency," said the solon. "And in truth, we have not done so well in turning an aspiration into a reality because most international students still choose to go back. So, here are people who could apply for international student programs. Universities and colleges could come up with some special initiative or special outreach — college-to-college, university-to-university — maybe even a special scholarship program. But over time, they would be top of the line for economic integration."

Senator Omidvar didn't say anything about cultural integration. Slipped her mind, no doubt. Nor did she say anything about the additional costs to Canuck taxpayers of providing accommodation and education for another 20,000 (give or take 50%) newcomers. What do you suppose Canadians will think of the honourable senator's dream? Canadian citizens won't have a chance to vote their approval or otherwise until the fall of 2019. And even then, since the Canadian Senate is appointed, not elected, it won't matter to Senator Omidvar.

Footnote and innocent question: Agent 3 suggests that I ask the archtypical Canadian question about Senator Omidvar's background: What is she, anyway? (Whenever one Canuck meets another for the first time, that's the second question he/she asks: What are you, really?)

Senator Omidvar's official biography, on the Parliament of Canada website, says she is "an internationally recognized voice on migration, diversity and inclusion. She came to Canada from Iran in 1981 and her own experiences of displacement, integration and citizen engagement have been the foundation of her work."

However, the Wikipedia version of her bio says the honourable senator was originally from Amritsar, in India's Punjab province. She was educated at the University of Delhi and (it goes on) "later moving to Canada, she became executive director of the Maytree Foundation, a charitable organization to combat poverty in Canada, before departing in 2014 to found the Global Diversity Exchange at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University where she is currently a distinguished visiting professor."

The Honourable Miriam Monsef, still a member of the Trudeau cabinet in spite of her demonstrated incompetence, was born in Iran but declared in her campaign for election that she was a refugee from Afghanistan. The Honourable Ratna Omidvar's narrative seems to go in the other direction -- an Indian who fled from the Ayatollah. Whatever she is, she's not an "old-stock Canadian", which, along with her SJW credentials, makes her perfect for Team Trudeau. "Independent"...HAH!
