MUSIC VIDEO: Theme for post-Mamdani New York City

Walt is grateful to live 1000s of miles from "Hymietown", as black statesman Jesse Jackson (D) famously called the Big Apple in 1984. He was using the slur "Hymie" to refer to people of the Jewish faith.

For whom will Jews, who traditionally support the Democratic Party, all its works and all its minions, vote today, as New Yorkers go to the polls to pick their new mayor. [How many times do I have to warn you about run-on sentences? Ed.]

Now that Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim Communist, has captured the Dimocrats, there's a three-cornered fight between him; Andrew Cuomo, erstwhile Dumbocrat now forced to run as an independent; and Curtis Sliwa, holding aloft the Rino banner.

Yesterday, President Trump held his nose and endorsed Mr Cuomo.* It won't make any difference. Opinion polls show Comrade Mamdani holding a clear lead over Mr Cuomo, with Mr Sliwa bringing up the rear.

When the crescent moon of Islam rises about 5 minutes after the polls close, and Mr Mamdani is declared Caliph of New York City (Walt's lifetime pct .987), the old "New York, New York" theme will be replaced by this more appropriate tune.

* President Trump in an interview with the BBC that he would be reluctant to send federal funding to his hometown of New York if radical leftist Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor today. "It’s gonna be hard for me as the president to give a lot of money to New York, because if you have a Communist running New York, all you’re doing is wasting the money you’re sending there."

Suspect in attempted murder of NY Hasidic Jews identified

Just a quick update on this morning's post about Saturday's stabbing of five Hasidic Jews at the home of a rabbi in Monsey NY, one of several in the Hudson Valley that has seen an influx of Hasidim in recent years.

The attack was the latest in a string of violent incidents targeting Jews in the region, including the massacre, on December 10th, at a kosher grocery store in New Jersey. Last month in Monsey, a man was stabbed while walking to a synagogue.

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo told the meeja that one of the five was very seriously wounded and remained in critical condition, the governor told reporters. The rabbi's son was one of those injured. His status and that of the other victims was not clear. Authorities have not provided a motive for the attack, but the Gov said it was an example of "larger problems".

Pictured here is Grafton E. Thomas, 37, of Greenwood Lake NY. He is presently in the custody of the Ramapo NJ police, facing five counts of attempted murder and one count of burglary. He was arraigned earlier today and pled not guilty to all charges. Bail was set at $5 million. According to an unnamed official, Mr Thomas's criminal history includes an arrest for assaulting a police horse [Ed., please check this!].

A lawyer representing Mr Thomas at the arraignment said he had no convictions. Whether he meant "convictions" in the criminal sense or in the sense of beliefs, a moral compass, is unclear. Also unclear is whether Mr Thomas, who appears to be a Person of Colour, has any connection with the Black Hebrew Israelites. Stay tuned.

NY Jews get swart gevaar

Swart gevaar. You can look it up. It's an expression I learned over my years in southern Africa. Oxford calls it "a threat perceived as being posed by black people to whites." Negrophobia. Or in the Jewish neighbourhoods of New York City, fear of the schwartzes, the shtarkes.

But (I hear you ask), why would the Jews be afraid of blacks... or African-Americans or whatever the PC term is this week? Surely what they're afraid of is anti-Semitic racists! After all, in metro New York, police have gotten at least six reports this week (and eight since the 13th of this month) of attacks possibly propelled by what the lamestream media are calling "anti-Jewish bias".

Just last night, the last day of Hanukkah, a man attacked a Hanukkah celebration at the home of a rabbi in Monsey NY, about an hour's drive north of NYC, one of several Hudson Valley towns that have seen an influx in large numbers of Hasidic Jews in recent years. The assailant, whose colour has not yet been disclosed by the police, stabbed and wounded five Jews before fleeing in a vehicle. The attack is the latest in a string of assaults targeting Jews in the New York area, including a massacre at a kosher grocery store in New Jersey earlier this month.

Top New York state officials, including Governor Andrew Cuomo, released statements condemning the attack. The Gov called the stabbings a "cowardly act", and directed the State Police hate crimes task force to investigate the attacks. "Let me be clear," he said. [Why do all politicians use that expression? It's been done to death! Ed.] "Anti-Semitism and bigotry of any kind are repugnant to our values of inclusion and diversity [Aaaaargh! Ed.] and we have absolutely zero tolerance for such acts of hate. In New York, we will always stand up and say with one voice to anyone who wishes to divide and spread fear: you do not represent New York and your actions will not go unpunished."

The Gov, responsible only for his state, not New Jersey, didn't refer to the Jersey City murders. The perpetrators in that case were themselves vizmins from the so-called African-American community. They were identified as coming from an extremist religious group called Black Hebrew Israelites, making them a minority of a minority. The attackers in that case were described as a "militant fringe" within that minority.

The authorities are now looking at the case as "domestic terrorism fueled by anti-Semitism". But that's not how the (((controlled media))) are playing it. They're dismiss the murders as "isolated incidents" and therefore unimportant. The New York Times described the Black Hebrew Israelites as being "known for their inflammatory sidewalk ministers who employ provocation as a form of gospel." Yeah, well, there's a bit more to it than that. The Black Hebrew Israelites describe Jews are described as "white" and "fake". The way they see it, the "real Jews", and all true prophets and religious figures, are black... black as the ace of spades.

According to the (((Anti-Defamation League))), this group views itself as the real "chosen people", and sees people of colour as the real descendants of the 12 tribes of Israel. They were in the media earlier in the year in Washington DC, when they shouted insults at Catholic high school students. The lamestream media wants to call BHI's actions "provocation", because if they admit that the BHI is part of a burgeoning violent movement targeting Jews, then they would have to confront it and ask tough questions of why it is tolerated in a community.

A self-proclaimed expert on racism told AP that in fact this group takes pride in "confronting Jewish people everywhere and explaining that they are evil." The trouble is that in American society only far-right white supremacists, Republicans and conservatives can be called "racist". Everyone else gets a pass. To keep the focus on the white supremacists, the (((controlled media))) rabbits on about how "right wing terrorists" have killed more than jihadists. Other types of terrorism are watered down a bit.

While the Prez was in office, Islamist-inspired terror was even rebranded as "violent extremism" so as not to mention the religion of the perpetrators. Even though Islamist terror is also a far-right ideology, it is portrayed as something else. For instance, when Jews were targeted at a kosher supermarket in France they were called "random folk in a deli". They weren't random! They were targeted, like the Jews in Jersey City, but they needed to be "random" or else we'd have to discuss the anti-Semitism that permeates Islamist terror.

Looking at the race and the ideology of the perpetrators of the attacks on Jews makes people, especially Jews, uncomfortable. The liberals and apologists for the Islamists want all the anti-Semites to be "far-right" and "white". Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) blamed "white supremacy" for the Jersey City attack, but her tweet was deleted when it was discovered that it wasn't "white supremacists" after all, therefore didn’t fit the narrative.

The fact is that it was the Jews themselves who orchestrated and funded the "civil rights" movement of the 60s, because, after all, the Jews, like "people of colour" were the victims of centuries of discrimination of persecution. Right? Now, it seems, the beneficiaries of all that enforced diversity and inclusivity are biting the hands that fed them. What a surprise.

Port Authority terminal bomber inspired by ISIS - "Allahu akbar!"

While I was writing the ppst about President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel -- scroll down -- Ed. has been following the breaking news of the bombing near the Port Authority terminal in New York City. We hope Fox News won't mind our reposting, almost verbatim, their latest report. (Hey! We're building up your readership here!)

Fox News says that a Bangladeshi national living in Brooklyn prematurely detonated his "low tech device" in an "attempted terrorist attack" inside New York City's Port Authority bus terminal Monday morning -- a blast that rocked the city during rush hour, causing chaos and halting several subway lines.

In a hastily called news conference, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo said that Akayed Ullah, 27, set off the "effectively low tech device" in a subway passageway just before 0730 EST. Mr Ullah suffered burns and wounds to his body and appeared to be the only person seriously injured in the pipe bomb explosion, authorities said. At least three other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Said the Gov, "This is New York, the reality is that we are a target by many who would like to make a statement against democracy, against freedom." New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio concurred, saying, "This was attempted terrorist attack." Neither Mr Cuomo nor Mr De Blasio mentioned the words "Islamist", "Muslim" or "ISIS".

However, law enforcement sources told the New York Post that Mr Ullah's attack was inspired by ISIS. The suspect allegedly packed the 5-inch metal pipe bomb and battery pack into the right side of his jacket, but the device exploded earlier than intended. The suspect told police he made the bomb at the electrical company where he works.

This is breaking news. We'll have more later, although to be honest, the only thing I'm waiting for is a statement from the perp that he did it to protest POTUS' recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Stay tuned.

NYC attack: "A statement consistent with terrorism"

For the last couple of hours I have been watching non-stop live coverage of the "terrorist attack" -- so called by Hizzoner the Mayor -- on New York City's West Side. My first question (to myself) was "What's wrong with this picture?" The answer [You admit you talk to yourself? Ed.] was "Nothing!"

I understood perfectly well what I was seeing. It was a remake, for American audiences, of the London Bridge massacre of last June. Van drives along sidewalk crowded with pedestrians, kills 8 (so far), injures 12 (so far). Driver jumps out brandishing what appear to be firearms, but which turn out to be a pellet gun and a paintball gun. Shots are heard, fired, as it turns out, by a heroic NYC cop who wounds, but does not kill the perp, who is now in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.

Yep, the picture is clear enough. What's wrong is the audio. In two hours of listening to assorted commentators, "analysts" and "experts", not to mention Mayor Bill De Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo [Thanks for not mentioning them. Ed.], I heard the words "terror", "terrorist" and "terrorism" countless times, but not once, not once did I hear the words "Islam", "Islamic" or "Muslim". The closest anyone came was one of the CBS "reporters" who said that, as he "exited the vehicle" (copspeak for "jumped outta the van"), the attacker "made a statement consistent with terrorism".

"A statement consistent with terrorism."
What do you suppose he might have said? What would "a statement consistent with terrorism" sound like? Like, "ALLAHU AKBAR!!!", maybe? Lifetime pct .990.

Another thing I didn't hear was any reference to the race, ethnicity or religion of the assailant, even though he could be seen, albeit from a distance, on a video shot by a witness. In the video, from the way he ran, zigzagging through the traffic like a tight end, I'd guess he was a gentleman of the coloured persuasion, but I could be wrong. The only reason that I can think the police might have for not revealing his identity would be that naming him as yet another Muslim terrorist would trigger more Islamophobia, which we now know is not a real "thing". That's right. As the Mayor and the Governor told us, there is no need to be afraid of Islamic terrorism, even in "sanctuary cities" like, errr, New York.

The embarrassing avoidance by the Authorities of any mention of the nature of this dastardly attack -- other than calling it an act of (unspecified) terrorism -- reminds me of the response of the British police to the London Bridge attack. See "British cops refuse to name London Bridge jihadis", WWW 5/6/17. But the truth will out, and you can bet that when it does, the lamestream media will lay the blame at the feet of President Trump. Perhaps (they will say) he would have done well to issue an executive order banning Muslims from entering the USA. Or he might have thought about making a list of all the potential Islamic terrorists already in America. Or something. Whatever. Anyway, it's all his fault. That's what they'll say. Lifetime pct .990.

UPDATED: NJ/NYC bombings the work of... guess who? (No prizes.)

It didn't take long for the other shoe to drop. After the Chelsea bombing "incident", NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said it was an intentional act -- DUH! -- and Governor Andrew Cuomo said any bombing is an act of terrorism. Neither of them said what we were all thinking, that it must be the work of TEWCBN -- The Enemy Which Cannot Be Named -- or at least its Islamic extremist supporters. All they told us was that there was no "evidence of any international connection."

Then this morning, just past midnight EDT, a bomb squad robot detonated an IED which had been left in a backpack at the train station in Elizabeth NJ. FBI agents and police swooped on a nearby apartment where they found more IEDs and all the fixins. It didn't take them very long to come up with the name of a suspect. To no-one's surprise, he turns out to be one of the usual suspects -- 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami.

Mr Rahami is a naturalized citizen of the Paranoid States of America, but hails from... wait for it... Afghanistan. He is also a follower of the Prophet -- a Muslim -- and (according to Hizzoner Bill de Blasio) armed and dangerous. "We need to get this guy in right away," Mr de Blasio said on CNN. "My experience is once the FBI zeroes in on someone, they will get them."

It wasn't immediately clear if there was a connection between the suspect and the Chelsea bombing, or the pipe bomb explosion at Seaside Park NJ on Saturday. It's quite possible, of course, that the IEDs which exploded at Seaside Park and Chelsea were made and planted by a non-Muslim who had no political or religious motive whatever. Yeah. Right.

Hellery warns against jumping to conclusions, then does so

Speaking to reporters on her campaign plane Saturday night, Mrs Bill Clinton cautioned against "rushing to conclusions" about the attacks and criticized Donald Trump for calling the Chelsea explosion a bomb that served as a reminder for that the USA needs to "get very tough." On Sunday, however, Hellery issued a statement saying she strongly condemns what she characterized as "apparent terrorist attacks" in Minnesota, New Jersey and New York. That's a pretty quick turnaround, even for a Clinton.

Further reading: "The Response to This Weekend’s Terror Attacks Showed Willful Blindness in Real Time", by Andrew C. McCarthy, National Review. "The ideology behind the attacks in New York, New Jersey, and Minnesota must be confronted forthrightly. In the all too familiar pattern, things are going boom, Americans are under attack, and the American political class is already busy playing the 'See No Jihad' minuet."

Who will defend the Church? New York Catholic leaders fail to respond to Cuomo attack - Radio interview with John Vennari

A month ago, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo -- a pro-abortion, LGBT-loving, womaniser who dares to call himself a Catholic -- declared, in his "state of the state" address, that New York is not big enough for those who want to defend the sanctity of human life against his abortion-expansion plans. See "Pro-Life? Now Welcome in Andrew Cuomo's New York", by Kathryn Jean Lopez in the National Review Online.

That's what Mr. Cuomo said. Here's the exact quote, only slightly edited by Walt: "Who are [the Republican candidates running aginst the SAFE Act]? Are they extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are...they have no place in the state of New York."

"They" would presumably include all good Catholics who accept the teaching of the Church that abortion is murder -- a mortal sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance. Another such sin is sodomy. Source: "Crying to Heaven for Vengeance", by Dr. Jeff Mirus in Catholic Culture.

Yet, a month later, the response of the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church in New York has been virtually inaudible. Why? Where are the Bishop Hubbards, the Cardinal Dolans, and others who should be defending the Faith with all their might? John Vennari, editor of Catholic Family News, discussed this in the context of the diabolical disorientation following Vatican II in a recent interview on Voice of Catholic Radio. Here it is -- audio only, running time 47:19.
