Christmas clearance sale - 1980s NATIONAL LAMPOON

We pause now for a word from our esteemed sponsor. (We call  him that because he's really esteemed about the Canuck Freedom Convoy!)

He's just listed dozens of used copies of National Lampoon, the Adult Humor Magazine, from 1980 through 1985, in lots of three or four for only $5.00 or $6.00 plus S&H.

Click here for details of the package shown in the photo

When you buy, be sure to tell `em Walt sent ya! We don't get a commission, but every now and then CJ feeds Walt's kitty, if you know what we mean.

Amusing (?) footnote: Our sponsor reports that Facebook Marketplace won't take these listings, which they say violate their blue-stocking "community standards". Don't know which community they live in, but apparently nothing is funny there!

"They use too much energy!" Swiss to ban electric cars?

Switzerland has often seemed to me to be an oasis of sanity in the middle of the European desert of common sense. [You're torturing that metaphor! Ed.] They wisely stayed out of the European Union, and have tight border controls to ensure that the migrant hordes go around them to Germany and France. Very sensible.

The Swiss are likewise sensible about "going green" to save the Earth from the climate "crisis". They don't have a lot of flat land for sprawling solar power arrays, and they don't want to see their lovely mountain landscapes disfigured by forests of windmills. So they're not about to jump on the battery-powered bandwagon.

Instead, they plan to hold in check the demand for electricity generated by thermal (coal, oil, natural gas) stations. First to feel the power pinch will be the owners of Teslas, Volts and other EVs, as Switzerland considers a ban on the use of electric cars for non-essential purposes.

According to a report by Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten, the country's government has drawn up a raft of emergency measures aimed at reducing strain on the power grid for use in emergency scenarios. Besides the prohibition of the use of electric cars for non-essential purposes, measures such as limiting the total speed of cars, reducing the opening hours of shops as well as the amount of heating permitted at nightclubs are also planned.

What, then, is an "essential purpose"? The paper reports that necessary journeys include "professional practice, shopping, visiting the doctor, attending religious events, [and] attending court appointments." Walt wonders what "professions" will be exempted from the ban. Race-car drivers? Escorts doing out-calls? Welfare queens going to collect their cheques? [That only happens in America. Ed.]

The Swiss government appears to be hoping that such measures will allow it to avoid what Zimbabweans call  "load shedding: -- cutting off the power to certain customers or geographic areas for hours or even days when electricity becomes scarce. In the Philippines such periods of no electricity were called "brown-outs".

I don't know how to say "load shedding" in German ["Lastabwurf". Ed.] but the Germans had better get used to it, for the Fatherland appears to be in a very rough spot when it comes to the availability of both gas and electricity. German authorities [There's a loaded phrase! Ed.] are said to be actively preparing stages for potential blackouts should things deteriorate.

France too may be facing a hard winter. Its energy network tsar, Xavier Piechaczyk, [There's a real French name for you. Ed.] recently warned that there was a very real threat that blackouts could hit the country. Another government spokesthingy disagreed, saying there should not be a problem so long as the general public heed requests to save energy. However, the official reportedly said he could not rule out load shedding should savings not be made.

The only country where a dearth of electric power may not be a problem is Belgium, where people are expected to be able to warm themselves by bonfires of EVs started by Muslim soccer fans. Walt wonders how long a Tesla would burn.

Examine the photo closely; what you see is what you get

@ElijahSchaffer, "Reporter. Podcaster. Film Producer. Fact Checker" [and hockey fan, apparently - a good thing. Ed.], tweeted this recently.

It's comical at this point how global leaders demand a new world order in front of a swastika.

But its Kanye West we are supposed to be worried about.

Walt scraped this from Blazing Cat Fur. Thanks, Arnie!

BCF also has a photo allegedly taken during an anti-Covid-lockdown demonstration in Shanghai, where young people, born after Tienanmen Square, are fighting back against the ChiComms.

Why "Fuck Trudeau"? Because the Emperor of Canuckistan loves vaccine mandates, lockdowns, and police state measures to control the peasants.

It may be, though, that the Chinese protesters heard about Mr Socks' support of freedom of expression and the right to protest, mentioned here on Wednesday.

Walt sez, good luck to the Chinese protesters. They'll need it!

Voting in the Georgia run-off?

If you're a white resident of the not-so-great state of Georgia, and you're thinking of voting in the run-off election, here's your choice....

Geddit? No? Let me quote Lt-Gov Geoff Duncan (R), who went to vote yesterday. "I was one of those folks who got in line and spent about an hour waiting. It was the most disappointing ballot I've ever stared at in my entire life since I started voting. I had two candidates that I just couldn't find anything that made sense for me to put my vote behind. So, I walked out of that ballot box showing up to vote but not voting for either one of them."

In-car entertainment: not as trendy as you might think

As you drive to work this morning -- none of Walt's readers would take the bus, surely!  -- enjoying in-car entertainment on the latest electronic gadget, consider this. Before there were 8-track tapes, cassettes, CDs, Walkmans [Walkmen? Ed.] and MP3s, Laurel and Hardy had this... way back in 1933.

Hope that today, in Brandon's America, you too have a good job to go to -- not you at CNN! LOL -- and wish you a great day!

Thanks to Agent 5 for sending this along.

Poster-child for "gender fluidity" arrested for theft of designer duds

According to a statement from the US Department of Energy, "Sam Brinton is on leave from DOE."

"Who?" Walt hears you ask. And "So what?" Well... Brinton -- no "Mr" or "Ms" for this person -- is in charge of the DOE's nuclear waste disposal program. They (their preferred pronoun) was appointed in June at the tender age of 35, making them, making them the most prominent "gender-fluid" person in the Brandon administration.

"Why is they on leave?", Walt hears you ask. Because they has been charged with stealing, from the Minneapolist-St Paul airport baggage claims area, of a Vera Bradley suitcase which, including its contents, was worth $2325.

A criminal complaint filed on 27 October alleges that the theft occurred on September 16th. Police were alerted by a woman that her suitcase was missing from a carousel in the baggage claim area. The cops now say that Brinton then took the tag from the suitcase, put the tag in a handbag and then left with the case "at a quick pace". (Notice they didn't say "mincing".)

Brinton, who had not checked in a suitcase when flying from DCA to MSP, took the case to the InterContinental hotel, and then returned to Washington with it two days later. They allegedly took the case on a trip to Europe a few days later. Police eventually telephoned the diversity hire, who initially denied doing anything wrong.

Later, they admitted taking the case, but said it contained "my clothes when I opened the bag." They went on to say that it would have been "“weirder" to leave a bag than the clothes at the hotel. They have not yet commented publicly. And Walt certainly has no comment about the Alphabet people or diversity hiring or anything non-PC.

Footnote: Oh... You were wondering about the backdrop to the photo? Brinton was attending the premiere of Conversion, a movie which, according to its website, is "a story of survival and hope, [which] follows five survivors as they shed light on the secretive and often deadly practices of conversion therapy." Rush right out to your local cinema.

Trudeau speaks out for freedom of expression, right to protest

Testifying before the Whitewash Rouleau Commission on Friday, Trudeau II, Emperor of All Canuckistan, said he was "serene" and "confident" that he had done the right thing in invoking the Police State Emergencies Act to quash the peaceful Freedom Convoy that upset the Laurentian elites last winter.

Yesterday, speaking of the peaceful protests over Wuhan flu lockdowns that have rocked China in recent days, the same Trudeau said it's crucial that protesters be allowed to speak up. "Canadians are watching very closely," he said. "Obviously everyone in China should be allowed to express themselves (and) should be allowed to share their perspectives, and indeed protest."

But wait (as Vince Offer used to say), there's more. Mr Socks added, "We're going to continue to ensure that China knows we'll stand up for human rights. We'll stand with people who are expressing themselves. We also need to make sure that China, and places around the world, are respecting journalists and their ability to do their job."

Pretty rich, eh. But kudos to Blackie McBlackface for having learned that in politics you succeed by learning to speak out of both sides of your mouth at the same time. Sez Walt, "Bah!" And the ordinary people of Canada respond, "Baa baa."
