Did the Washington Post know in advance?

Look carefully at the dateline on the print edition of WAPO captured in this image shared by Donald Trump Jr. That's right. Saturday July 13th. And that's Saturday morning, not Saturday evening after the attempted assassination of President Trump.

To be fair to WAPO, the report was about Senile Joe's "fiery rally" in Michigan. Unfortunate choice of words for the headline. But it's just a coincidence. Right?

VIDEO: "Funny... he doesn't look like a Muslim..."

The answer to yesterday's hypothetical seems to be (d). I trust those who accuse Walt of always looking for the Mohammedan connection will notice that, this time, we refrained from jumping to the usual conclusion.

The person who attempted to assassinate President Trump at yesterday's rally in Butler County PA has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, age 20, from a nearby town.

Little is known about the late Mr Crooks, who was shot dead by a Secret Service sniper within seconds of having fires a hail of bullets towards the once and future POTUS.

The New York Times reports that an online recording of his graduation ceremony shows him walking the stage to minimal applause and briefly posing with a school official. A search by Fox News Digital revealed that he would have turned 21 years old this September. He had no reported criminal or traffic citations and no reported bankruptcies, liens or foreclosures.

Mr Crooks was a registered Republican, according to voting records, but he only participated in the 2022 state elections, having been too young previously. Records show he made a $15 donation to Progressive Turnout Project, a Chicago-based political action committee that supports Democrat candidates for public office and claims to advocate for "key Democratic constituencies: young people, minorities and low-income people."

What we don't know, and will likely never know, is why Mr Crooks did it. Was it  his own bunny-brained idea, or did someone put him up to it? Where did he get the assault rifle? Was he stoned or crazy or both? Walt guesses the Democratic government and their lickspittle media will tell us to conclude that he was just a "deranged lone wolf". QED.

Worth watching: Alex Stein tells Sky News Australia you won't get the truth  about this attempted assassination from US meeja.

Attempted assassination of President Trump: Who is responsible?

You've heard the news. You may be watching the news right now. About 75 minutes ago someone shot Donald J. Trump, the once and future POTUS, during a rally in Butler County PA.

Your immediate reaction, like mine, must surely have been: who did this? That's a question which may never be answered!

10 minutes ago I watched, on NBC, a live interview with a person who said she was sitting right in the front row. After she confirmed what we saw in the video, the interviewee said "Thank God they killed rthe shooter", who she said had fired from a tower somewhere to the right Mr Trump.

Strange, isn't it, that no official source had said anything about that. Immediately the interview concluded, Lester Holt said that this was just the account of one person which could not be confirmed. Has a cover-up already begun?

Let's suppose that the shooter was (a) an Islamic (or other) terrorist; (b) a looney leftist, antifa type; (c) an agent of the Deep State; or even (d) a sufferer from TDS, nuttier than squirrel shit and determined that there should be no second term for Trump. Would the Deep State, the Democrats and their lickspittle media want you to know this?

If they want to cover their sorry asses, how would they do so? Simple. By assassinating the would-be assassin. So far, what we're hearing from Official Sources is that the threat has been "contained". Whatever can that mean? Stay tuned... but don't hold your breath!

UPDATE ADDED at 1930: It is now four hours since the failed assassination attempt. The shooter is dead, having been shot by a Secret Service sniper within seconds of shooting at President Trump from "an elevated position" (read: tower) about 200 yards from the podium (yet somehow outside the secure perimeter).

The body of the shooter has been recovered, along with his AR-15 assault rifle, but he remains unidentified. More accurately, no-one is prepared to tell us what the government knows. Commentator on CBS to interviewee: "You've called this an 'attempted assassination'. Surely you're not implying that the government was somehow involved... are you?" Interviewee: "Oh no. No no."

"Gee, Walt! What happened after that?!"

...I hear you asking. Sorry, I can't tell you. Like everyone else, I didn't watch the entire Big Boy Press Conference. Apparently the only parts that anyone paid attention to were the gaffes. Here's a screen shot of the landing page from this morning's National Post
Sad, isn't it? Here's the Leader of the Free World (TM), the man whose shaky fingers rest on the Big Red Button, trying to convince us that there's no need to invoke the 25th Amendment, and everyone is paying attention only to the flubs and brainfarts.

Kind of scary, when you think about it. Suppose Senile Joe falls asleep at his desk -- he wouldn't be the first president so to do -- and his his head hits the BRB. There may be some kind of failsafe mechanism in the black box, something that requires a sentient human to confirm the "GO!" order, but... remember Doctor Strangelove? As the National Review opines: "Biden’s Fitness Is Not Just a Campaign Issue. It’s a National-Security Issue".

By all accounts, President Brandon didn't do that badly in the Big Boy Presser. He made it on and off the stage under his own power. He answered questions without straying off into the weeds too often. He showed that he could engage with reporters’ questions on a range of issues without losing focus.

There was still the coughing and throat clearing. (In the 19th century he might have had a spittoon  beside the podium.) And at times he lowered his voice to a hoarse whisper that evoked the rasp of his voice on debate night.

But so what? The presser was still a reminder that people are focused on now on Senile Joe's presentation, rather than its content, with an almost clinical eye toward possible slip-ups and mistakes.
House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) said afterwards that "one of the really kind of sick aspects of this moment is that we are watching every speech, every rally, every debate and saying, how did he do today? And that’s just not the way to think about the presidency of the United States."

Indeed. Ŧhat kind of pressure that is unlikely to go away for as long as President Biden insists he'll stay in the race. How much longer will the death watch continue?

VIDEO: "This is it! This is the one they'll remember!"

Just before the Big Boy Presser started, Senile Joe appeared for a bit of mutual admiration with... well, watch the introduction,

During the exchange that followed, President Brandon did his now-customary "Number 1, Number 2" shtick, reading slowly from notes to help him keep the numbers in the correct order. But the damage was done.

In a statement to Fox News, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) said."This is the person who has first-strike capabilities with our nuclear arsenal. We are continuing to send a powerfully dangerous signal to our adversaries that the commander-in-chief is not in control of his faculties. The emperor has no clothes, and if he won’t step aside other senior leaders in the Democratic Party need to stand up and make him – for the security of our nation."

VIDEO: Can the USA stand four more years of this?

Walt is on the Biden death watch. We're not talking physical death here. I wouldn't wish that on anyone [Well, hardly anyone. Ed.] And it appears from the video below that brain death may be imminent.

Today we're talking political death. I expect to see Crooked Joe in the last throes in about three hours, as he gives what may be his final "Big Boy Press Conference" at the close of the NATO summit in Washington.

Is Senile Joe capable of speaking ex tempore, without notes or cards or an autocue? As we see here, even the teleprompter can't save him when he's unable to distinguish between the text and the rubrics.

If he doesn't ace today's performance, the knives which have already been stuck in his back will be pulled out and stuck in his front. The first Black (and truly Black, LOL) vice-president is sharpening hers as we speak. How sad.
