The dog days of summer

Walt admits to falling into near-terminal lassitude during the "dog days of summer" -- the hot and humid days of summer. This phrase can be traced back thousands of years to the days of the Roman Empire. It refers to the dates from 3 July through 11 August -- 20 days before and 20 days after the star Sirius rises and falls in conjunction with the sun.

At this time, when it's an effort to punch out more than a couple of paragraphs on the keyboard, we here at WWW are very grateful for Patriot Post, a reliable source for stuff with which to fill this space.

Note from Agent 3: Look at the map carefully. See how the circle exclused part of the Aleutians, all of Newfoundland, and the southern part of Florida in which is located Mar-a-Lago. What can it all mean?

Canada to become 51st US state? No, eh!

President-Elect Donald Trump had a weekend visitor at Mar-a-Lago, none other than the Right Honourable Blackie McBlackface, Prime Minister of All Canuckistan. Following Junior's ceremonial kissing of POTUS's ring [Which one? Ed.], he and his entourage were offered a sumptuous state banquet of roasted crow, followed by a dessert of humble pie.

Then came the after-dinner surprise. The atmosphere was convivial, with the two leaders nibbling on crab cocktail and slurping down oysters as they discussed issues of tariffs, border security and trade deficits. But for all the superficial chumminess -- like Spike the bulldog and his little sycophant, in the old Warner Bros. cartoons -- President Trump remained focused on what he wanted from Canada.

What would that be? He's quoted as saying that "Canada has failed the U.S. border by allowing large amounts of drugs and people across the border, including illegal immigrants from over 70 different countries."

But wait, there's more.... Mr Trump reportedly became more animated when it came to the U.S. trade deficit with Canada, which he estimated to be more than $100 billion, and told the Canuck "leader" that if Canada cannot fix the border issues and trade deficit, he will levy a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods immediately on returning to office."

At that point, sources say, Junior started whining and playing the victim card. While shedding crocodile tears, he told POTUS that he just couldn't impose such a tariff "because it would kill the Canadian economy completely."

One would have thought that M Trudeau would have made some positive response, such as an offer to tighten up the World's Longest Undefended Border (TM), but he said nothing, at least not anything that could be heard, about doing anything to stop the cross-border flow of illegal aliens and drugs. He just wanted President Trump to withdraw his threat for nothing, out of concern for the well-being of Canada!

President Trump wasn't biting. "So," he said to Chief Walking Goose, "your country can't survive unless it's ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion?" If that's the case, he suggested, Canada should become become the 51st of the United (?) States of America. The very idea! Not knowing whether or not to take the President-Elect seriously, the Canuck PM and his entourage laughed nervously.

The Donald followed up with the quip that Trudeau could be governor of the new states, although, he said, "prime minister is a better title." According to Fox News, someone at the meeting, then warned Mr Trump that, as a state, Canada would be deep blue, whereupon he suggested it become "two states, a leftist one and a patriotic one." LOL?

OK, seriously... He may be smiling and laughing, but President Trump is making it clear that he is very serious about tackling the problems that beset the US of A, and intends to do everything he can to solve them.

That's why Canadians should be happy about President Trump's little jest. Walt's many Canadian agents and friends don't want to become Americans. They just want the American Sickness -- symptoms: wokeism, DEI, division, waste and enforced mediocrity -- to be stopped at the border.

Thanks to Blackie McBlackface, Canada already has more than enough of those things, plus the 1000s of bogus refugees who used first Trump victory as an excuse to enter Canada illegally, and are still squatting there. What Canadians want is the Trump Cure... without having to become Americans to get it.

Yes, Virginia, there IS a plan to retaliate against Iran

After reading "A sensible view of demands to retaliate against Iran" (WWW 1/2/24), a reader writes to note that Crooked Joe Biden announced a couple of days ago that he does have a plan to retaliate against Iran for the drone strike that killed three American troops.

However, the soon-to-be former POTUS was reluctant to share details of his alleged plan. He says the Excited States of America will respond in the time and manner of his (Biden's) own choosing. Swell.

Walt's mole in the White House has found some notes scribbled on rolling papers in a packet labelled "Hunter's", outlining the substance of the plan. Here, in cartoon form, is the gist of it.

UPDATED: DOJ attack foiled by Cannonade

Yesterday Walt opined that, if anything at all has come out of the FBI invasion of President Trump's Mar-a-Lago home,  it's that the Donald, like most of us, doesn't stay on top of his filing!

That, and only that. You would think that if Biden's Department of Injustice had anything more -- a smoking gun, a "threat to national ssecurity", anything at all -- to prove that they were right to violate the Fourth Amendment, they would be happy to show us. Right?

Errr, no. They have fought every step of the way to keep everything -- the search warrant, the affidavit on which it was bassed, the details of what was seized -- under wraps.

Today, the DOJ lost another round. Judge Aileen Cannon granted President Trump's request that a Special Master -- an officer of the court -- review the documents to weed out from the rest of the investigation any that might be protected by claims of attorney-client privilege or executive privilege.

Judge Cannon's order came despite the strenuous objections of the Justice Department, which said an outside legal expert was not necessary in part because officials had already completed their review of potentially privileged documents! In other words, "We've already looked at them, so you can't make us forget what we've seen."

In a clear win for President Trump's legal team, the judge said (in effect) "Oh yes, I can!" She temporarily halted the DOJ's use of the records for "investigative" (read: frame-up) purposes. Some of those records may ultimately be returned to Mr Trump, but Judge Cannon put off ruling on that question.

Meanwhile, we get closer and closer to the 2022 mid-term elections. When the Jan 6 Circus failed to sink the Trump Republicans in the polls, the Dumbocrats resported to the police state-style raid on Mar-a-Lago, hoping the FBI could do what the Congressional committee couldn't. As Nelson Muntz sez, HA-ha!

Further reading: "FBI Says The Documents In Trump’s Possession Were So Classified They Were Printed With Invisible Ink On Invisible Paper", Babylon Bee (natch!), 4/9/22.

UPDATE ADDED 8/9/22: In desperate damage control mode, the DOJ first tried planting a "leak" in WAPO (where else?) saying that amongst the seized documents there was one (1) detailing sensitive information about "an ally's" military capabilities.

That didn't work, so today the DOJ filed an appeal of Judge Cannon's ruling, asking her to let them continue fishing in the same pond -- about 100 classified documents -- because, they say, Mr Trump’s team "may not have returned all the classified records removed from the White House at the end of his presidency."

The prosecutors also asked the judge not to allow the Special Master to review the classified materials seized from the Trump home. Walt wonders, wasn't the whole purpose of the middle-of-the-night raid on Mar-a-Lago to recover the documents that allegedly were not returned? Does this appeal mean the DOJ admits that they might have missed some? Or does it mean that they didn't succeed in planting anything incriminating in the dozens of boxes they took away?

President Trump, in a posting on his Truth Social platform, described the request as a waste of money. Taxpayers, that's your money he's talking about! Keep that in mind in November.

Remember the opening of Al Capone's safe?

A non-news event on Friday reminded me of the big foofaraw on 21 April 1986 when Al Capone's vault, walled off for decades in the old Lexington Hotel in Chicago, was opened live on national TV. Remember that?

Millions of viewers watched as Geraldo Rivera (who else?) pioneered the "no-news news" format. Instead of reporting on news, he devoted entire programs to possible and hypothetical news. News channels like CNN (who else?) speculated on what would be found inside the safe. When the big day came, it turned out to be empty except for debris.

The Friday non-news event which reminded me of Geraldo's spectacular misfire was the FBI's forced disclosure of what they seized in their midnight raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Florida residence of President Donald Trump.

American presidents are required, on leaving office, to transfer all of their documents and emails to the National Archives. In an effort to keep the Dumbocrats from getting thrased in the 2022 mid-term elections, the Department of Justice is searching desperately for evidence that Mr Trump improperly handled records by taking them from the White House to Mar-a-Lago.

As nearly as we can infer -- the document was so heavily reacted that we can only guess -- the affidavit on the basis of which the raid was authorized by an Obama-appointed judge alleged that Mr Trump and his lawyers failed to provide relevant documents voluntarily, and "likely concealed or removed" records as part of an effort to obstruct the investigation.

On Friday, the FBI filed a list of what they found in the 33 boxes of papers etc -- note the "etc" -- they took away. They seized more than 11,000 government documents in total, including:
* 3 (count `em, three) documents marked "confidential"
* 17 documents marked "secret"
* 7 documents marked "top secret"
* 43 empty folders with "classified" banners
* 28 empty folders labelled "Return to staff secretary/military aide"

The court filing also confirms previous reports that many records were mixed with personal effects, including clothes -- Melania's underwear? -- books and newspapers.

A spokesman for President Trump, said the unsealed document showed the government's actions were "not some surgical, confined search and retrieval" but "a smash and grab." IMHO, if anything has been proven, it's just that the Donald, like most of us, doesn't stay on top of his filing!

Further reading: "After Using FBI To Suppress Son’s Crimes And Raid Political Rival’s Home, Biden Warns Democracy In Danger", in the Babylon Bee (where else?), 3/9/22. I can't resist sharing this excerpt:

President Biden went on to call for the expulsion from democratic society anyone who questioned the integrity of an American election. "If you question an election's fairness because our intel communities told media companies to bury damaging stories about me, or because COVID was used as an excuse to illegally change voting practices without legislative input, or because the FBI spied on Trump's campaign after Democrats gave them a bogus dossier - then you have no place in civil society," said Biden. "In fact, while we are at it, if you don't support abortion through nine months, or the genital mutilation of children, you are an enemy of the state. And we will foment violent protests and assassination attempts to intimidate you - to save democracy."

UPDATED: "A threat to national security!" - Deep State's excuse for doing whatever it likes, regardless of the Constitution or other laws

9/11 changed everything. Right? Everybody knows that. Until 9/11, America, having won WWII single-handed, was thought by its people to be impregnable. [= can't have children? Ed.] The idea of enemies, especially backward barbarians [= people with beards. Ed.] attacking and killing Americans on their own soil was inconceivable [= can't have children? Ed.]

Then 9/11 happened and the United States of America became what I call the Paranoid States of America. I am not alone in thinking that Americans panic easily. The late great George Carlin said those exact words in a bit about "germs", which he performed years before the Great Dempanic.

But this is not about the threat to the nation's wellbeing posed by the Wuhan flu or monkeypox or whatever health crisis comes along tomorrow. This is about how the Deep State used 9/11 to take control of the administration and take away Americans' freedoms, all in the name of "national security".

What follows is excerpted from The Greatest Story Ever Sold: The Decline and Fall of Truth in Bush's America, by Frank Rich (Penguin 2006). Talking about the Great Anthrax Scare -- remember that? -- which began just three weeks after 9/11, Mr Rich writes:

Bush said little about it, delegating the problem to ineffectual Cabinet members like [Tommy] Thompson, the secretaryof health and human services, and the attorney general, John Ashcroft.... They were Keystone Kops in the costumes of bureaucrats, ready at any time to slip on a banana peel....

Ashcroft often shook as if he'd just seen not only great Caesar's ghost, but perhaps John Mitchell's as well. In his disregard for the law, Ashcroft often did seem determined to emulate the Watergate-era attorney general, though on a grander scale.

It wasn't enough for Congress to enhance his antiterrorist legal arsenal legitimately by passing the USA Patriot Act before most of those on the Hill had taken the time or the trouble to read it; the attorney general changed other rules without consulting senators or congressmen of either party at all.

He abridged by decree the Freedom of Information Act, an esssential check on government misbehavior during peace and war alike, and discreetly slipped into the Federal Register a new directive allowing eavesdropping on conversaqtions between some lawyers and clients.

If the administration was really proud of grabbing "emergency" powers at wartime, why was it doing so in the dead of night? Ashcroft refused repeated requests to explain himself before congressional committees. At one House briefing where he did show up, he told congressmen they could call an 800 number if they had any questions about what his department was up to.

Remind you of anyone? Sounds to me like Merrick Garland, answering for the FBI raid on President's Trump's Florida home! Getting back to what Mr Ashcroft did, supposedly to protect national security, Mr Rich continues:

Ashcroft's Justice Department seemed to be squandering time and resources on wild goose chases that pumped up arrest numbers without making any progress on tracking down terrorists.... But Ashcreoft had been zealous and then some about warning of other terrorism attacks while the anthrax threat was proceeding under his nose.

The first alert of a probable new attack was issued two weeks after 9/11. On the first month anniversary of 9/11, the attorney general and the FBI warned again that new attacks by terrorists either in America or overseas might happen in the "next several days." Bush endorsed this alert, but neither he nor anyone in the government explained how serious the threat was or what form it might take or when it might happen.

Before you say "So what? That's ancient history... and Bush was a Republican," please consider that the DOJ and other organs of the Deep State never gave back the far-reaching and unconstitutional powers they arrogated [excellent word -- look it up. Ed] to themselves in the aftermath of 9/11.

The Deep State and their bought-and-paid-for media say now that President Trump's keeping certain unspecified "top secret documents" mixed in with other papers at Mar-a-Lago represents a "threat to national security". I would like to know from whence comes that threat?!

Who is threatening the Paranoid States of America, now that Saddam Hussein has been killed, along with Obama Bin Laden and their successors. Who hates America and Americans enough to wage jihad against the Land of the Somewhat Free?

OK, it's the Islamic extremists, right, the ones who pulled off 9/11 but haven't really done anything horrible on American soil since. Is the DOJ seriously suggesting that Mr Trump is somehow colluding with the mad mullahs and will reveal to them our plans to start the Gulf Wars again?

If not the Arabs, then how about the Russians? The Dumbocrats already tried without success to portray Messrs Trump and Putin as co-conspirators against Democracy with a capital D. It didn't work. China, then? Couldn't be. China only does business with Hunter Biden and Mr. Big.

So I repeat... where is the threat to national security? If, anywhere in the three dozen boxes of papers which have now been taken away from the Trump residence, there is one single iota, jot or tittle of evidence proving that President Trump was planning to sell out or otherwise harm the US of A, I'd like to see it.

UPDATE ADDED 28/8/22: A federal judge in Florida told the Justice Department on Saturday to provide her with more specific information about the classified records removed from President Donald Trump's Florida estate. and said it was her "preliminary intent" to appoint a special master in the case, as requested by the former president's lawyers, who complained that the Feds didn't disclose enough information about exactly what was seized when the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago on August 8th.

"You think because you're a celebrity you're above the law?!"

I was not a hundred miles from Bismark yesterday afternoon when the Department of Injustice released the founding affidavit which a Florida magistrate -- an Obama appointee and donor to the "Democratic" Party -- found sufficient to justify the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's Florida home

So I haven't had a chance to digest the steaming pile of horseshit shovelled out by the lamestream media. Nor have I been able to read the affidavit, since it appears that about 95% of it has been "redacted" -- read: censored -- since the judge and the DOJ don't want us to see "information" that was so shocking, so scandalous, so disturbing that it must be kept from the public. And from President Brandon, apparently, since his diversity hire spokesthingy says that all Sleep Joe knows is what's in the papers.

To me, it all comes to this. Some months ago, in response to a request from the Deep State, President Trump handed over to "the authorities", some 14 boxes of documents and files which had taken home from the White House over the course of his four years in office. After months of sifting through those documents, trying to find something incriminating and coming up with nothing, the President's Police decided to go back to the well.

"There's gotta be more than that!" is what they said in the affidavit, That's what the lickspittle media tell us was the gist of it. There might be something in there, they said, amongst the photos and comic books, which would endanger the Republic (read: Republicans) and it's our duty to find it. OK, said the judge, the Fourth Amendment doesn't protect ex-presidents any more than ordinary citizens. Not these days.

The whole fiasco reminds me of the famous Seinfeld episode in which Jerry is visited by Mr Bookman, the library copy, who is searching for a book Jerry borrowed during his high school years.

Mr Trump wasn't at home when the President's Police knocked at the door in the middle of the night. Had he been there, I imagine the conversation might have unfolded along these same lines. "You think because you're the ex-president you're above the law?! We'll give you all the rights that we'd give anyone else!"

The FIB came away with another 20 or so boxes of materiall which they will now pour through -- like lawyers picking through flyspecks while wearing boxing gloves -- look for something, anything they can use to convince a court (the public will never believe it) that the Orange Man is truly evil and should allowed to run for any office, anywhere, at any time. And yeah, his library card should be revoked too!

UPDATED: Raid on Mar-a-Lago: VIDEO + Latest from Breitbart News

This is turning into a really weird week. But Walt is ready with his weirdness waders and his BS meter, so let's have at it. We're talking about the FBI raid -- the lickspittle press are calling it a mere "search" now, even though it happened in the dead of night -- on Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's Floriday home.

There are lots of questions about this unprecedented use of the federal police powers against a private citizen. Who ordered the raid? Who authorized it? What were they looking for? What did they seize? What was the point of it all, if not to harrass the man the Deep State fears most?

Lots of questions, but a dire dearth of answers. When questions were asked at the White House, President Brandon's natural-haired press secretary said the Big Guy knew nothing. She hastened to add, "...about that. He heard about it on the TV, like everyone else."

Do you believe that neither Brandon nor anybody else in the White House knew that the FBI was about to stage a raid on the residence of a former occupant of the Oval Office? Here's what Liz Wheeler has to
say.

On Wednesday, the lickspittle media were pointing fingers at Christopher Wray, the Director of the FBI. If the Big Guy and his Attorney General, Merrick Garland, didn't know about it (they said), Mr Wray must have "gone rogue", ordering the search off his own bat. Why someone appointed by President Trump (!) would do that was not explained.

Walt thinks that, sometime Wednesday night, Mr Wray reached out to Mr Garland or one of his minions and promised that if he (Wray) was going to go down, others would go down with him. No surprise then that on Thursday morning it was announced that Mr Garland would make an Official Statement in the afternoon.

And so he did, taking responsibility for "authorizing" the search -- a word not totally synonymous with "ordering". In fact, as Dr Taylor Marshall pointed out, it was a Florida magistrate -- an Obama appointee and donor with connections to Jeffrey Epstein -- who actually signed the warrant.

Walt hesitates [but not for long! Ed.] to impute motive to anyone, but, as Liz Wheeler says, President Trump put the kibosh on the appointment of Mr Garland to SCOTUS, so revenge could be his reason for "authorizing" the raid. But he said there was a differentreason, which would be understood once the warrant was unsealed, as requested yesterday by the Department of Justice.

Mr Garland said he didn't make the decision lightly, and filed the motion to unseal was "given the substantial public interest in this matter." Hell yes! We really would like to know! And we don't want to wait for the reveal of what will surely be a highly redacted version of the document. Won't someone please tell us more?

Step forward the Washington Post -- who else -- who reported last night that the G-men were looking for "documents relating to nuclear weapons. Cazart! So that's it? The Orange Man is building an atomic bomb in his basement, for use in the impending insurrection!

Walt can hardly wait to find out exactly what documents were recovered. Could they include Nuclear Fission for Dummies or the August 1945 issue of Popular Science, which included an article headed "How to make your own A-bomb for fun and profit"? Seems to me there'd better be more than that... a lot more!

UPDATE ADDED at 1130: Breitbart News complete report on the warrant and list of what was seized. (Spoiler alert: Most of the listed are items are simply called "documents".) We now have even more questions than clear answers.

DOJ/FBI declares war on President Trump

If there was any doubt that the most vindictive president in the history of the Paranoid States of America -- worse, even, than Nixon or Johnson, is out to destroy President Trump, his malice is surely obvious now.

Last night, dozens of FBI agents raided the Donald's Mar-a-Lago home, ransacking the place and even breaking into his safe. No official statement has been made, but sources speaking "on background" say they were searching for "classified records" which Mr Trump might have taken with him when he was evicted from the White House.

The raid represents a dramatic and unprecedented escalation of law enforcement scrutiny of President Trump, which could only have been authorized at the highest levels, by which I mean Brandon himself.

In a lengthy statement, President Trump described the breal-and-enter operation, carried out when he was not at home, as an "unannounced raid> which he likened to "prosecutorial misconduct". Can you say "unreasonable search and seizure", boys and girls I know you can... but you don't dare! Right?
