Size DOES matter -- survey of what women think

Agent 6 has returned from sunnier climes and passes on the results of a women's survey on size. Here's how random ladies responded.

2 inches - I can't even hold it.
3 inches - Never been so unsatisfied.
4 inches - I've had bigger.
5 inches - Good, but I wish a bit bigger.
6 inches - Perfect.
7 inches - Love it.
8 inches - Wow! But can't have it all.
9 inches - A lot, but manageable.
10 inches - Too much pressure on stomach, fills me up.

These were actually (Agent 6 swears) the results of a customer feedback survey of... wait for it... different sizes of Subway sandwiches!

Canucks! Tell your government what you think about immigration!

Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship -- seriously, that's his title, in that order -- John McCallum visited the ghetto that is Brampton, Ontario recently to announce that the very progressive government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Himselfie is ready to introduce changes to the current immigration system. Top of their multiculti agenda, he said, is speeding up the process of "family class immigration". In Brampton, that means the south Asians who have flooded in will be able to bring even more of their elderly and sick parents, grandparents, uncles and aunties.

How do you feel about that? The minister's visit is supposed to be part of a "consultation process" to help the Gliberals understand how Canadians really feel about immigration. In Brampton, of course, all the turbanned citizens sitting at the table with Mr McCallum think opening the doors wider is a great idea. But what do Walt's readers in Otter Haunch, Saskatchewan and TROC think? Dear Canuck readers, your government doesn't want you to be able to say you weren't asked, so they've set up a web survey, with a short questionnaire which allows you to give your opinion. Watch your language, eh!

Majority of Americans think US should mind its own business overseas

The American government's interventionist foreign policies are wrong-headed, counter-productive and just plain stupid. Ron Paul told you so. Walt told you so. But the Bushes, pater et filius, the Clintons and Hussein Obama told you the opposite. Who ya gonna believe?

To judge by the results of the last election -- was it only a year ago? -- the Merkin people believed the politicians and the establishment. But today comes a sign that the scales are finally falling off the eyes of Joe the Plumber.

Today, for the first time in almost four decades of polling, a study by the Pew Research Center (in association with the Council on Foreign Relations) suggests that the majority of Americans believe the US plays a less important and powerful role in the world than it did ten years ago.

As the chart at the right shows, most people now believe America should “mind its own business internationally”.

The findings of the Pew poll suggest Americans think their country is now less respected abroad, bucking a trend in which Americans believed their reputation had recovered since the Prez Obama was elected. Funny how giving him a Nobel prize for doing nothing except being black would give that impression. But the penny has dropped, and impressions of how the US is perceived under Obama are now, broadly, as negative as they were in the final days of the administration of Bush the Younger.

Although there is a growing desire for the development of stronger trade and business links abroad, it seems that Americans want their leaders to adopt a less interventionist approach to solving the world's political and social problems. It's time, many people think, to stop trying to be the world's policeman and concentrate on fixing the many things that are broken in the Land of the Free Lunch.

But will America's political leaders listen? Is the Pope Catholic? [The answer to both questions is meant to be "NO". Ed.]

I'll say it again. The news travels slowly between the outside world and Walt's cabin in the woods. We've just learned of a survey which every Canadian reader of WWW ought to take. And you have only the rest of today -- AUGUST 31st -- to do it!

Since June -- we said the news travels slowly -- Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has had a "Public and Stakeholder Consultation" open on its website, asking for input from all you hosers on immigration levels for 2014 and beyond. Here's what they say they want to know.

We are seeking your feedback on immigration to Canada, specifically on the total number of new permanent residents Canada should welcome and how this overall total should be distributed among immigration categories. The consultation will explore a number of issues related to three main questions:

- What is the appropriate level of immigration for Canada, this year and beyond?

- What is the best ratio – or mix – between the number of economic immigrants, family class immigrants and the refugee/humanitarian class?

- Economic immigration is a key immigration goal for Canada’s long-term economic growth. What role can immigration play to support Canada’s economy?

When you read the questions, you'll see they ask only about how many and what kind of immigrants should be accepted. "None at all" is not an option! But there's a comments box at the end where you can say what you really think, just in case a real human being may be reading. (But don't be surprised if that's not the case.)

To be frank [I thought you were Len?! Ed.], I don't think anyone in the Harpoon government gives two shits (or even one) about what Canadians think. They're going to do the PC thing -- like admitting more Syrian and gay Russian "refugees" -- no matter what you tell them. But do the survey anyway. Give `em hell! It'll make you feel better!
