UPDATED: "Allahu Akbar!" in Europe... again???

Today is the Muslim sabbath, a day when followers of the Prophet go to the mosque... or into a crowded market to perpetrate another in a long line of attacks on innocent civilians who have welcomed them into their once-Christian countries.

This year alone, five people were injured in a violent spree in Amsterdam, while three months ago a teenage boy was killed in a similar attack in Austria. The authorities described the latter as "an Islamic incident".

The Netherlands, Austria, and today Germany. This evening at least 12 people were injured in a knife attack at Hamburg Central Station. What's unusual about this one is that, according to Bild, a woman was arrested at the scene. 

In keeping with official policies, in a country where the government thinks "right-wing extremism" is the greatest threat, die Polizei have yet to confirm that the suspect was woman, or to provide any information about her (?) citizenship, ethnicity, or religion.

Of course we shouldn't jump to the usual conclusion. Mustn't stoke the fires of Islamophobia. 

The perp might not have been a woman at all. "She" might have been a man hiding under a hijab, like the one pictured at left. And so far there have been no ear-witness reports of shouts of "Allahu akbar!"

Still, as far as Ed. can remember, we've only been wrong about this once. We'll let you know if further details disprove our assumption. Let's not forget that the Islamic terrorists are engaged in a jihad, a "holy war". They are out to kill us "infidels". All of us. 

UPDATE ADDED 24/5/25 @ 0701 FMT: Die Polizei are now describing the assailant as "Caucasian". So? There are many Caucasians -- people whose family or ancestors come from the Caucasus, e.g. Chechens in rebellion against Russia -- who are Muslims. You can be a Caucasian and still be an illegal immigrant or an asylum-seeker or bogus refugee.

There is so much on the Internet -- on YouTube alone -- that it's virtually impossible to search for something without stumbling onto something else. The surfeit of material -- some of which is immaterial [Geddit? Ed.] -- means, sadly, that some good stuff gets lost in the shuffle.

A Kardashian says something stupid, and millions of people bust their index fingers clicking on the video. But when an astoundingly beautiful woman tells the plain truth about the dangers of radical Islam, does anyone pay attention? Judging by the number of likes and dislikes for this one, apparently not. Mind you, it's only been on YouTube since June 27th, so maybe it just hasn't been much noticed.

Walt will help that out by directing your attention to Dom the Conservative, who has something to say that the liberals and "moderate Muslims" -- an oxymoron if ever there was one -- won't like. Excuse the crappy sound, please, and listen up!

"We are a ruined church": Patriarch Sako talks about Christianity in Iraq

Migration of Christians: Percussion of the Alarm Bells is a very sad commentary by Louis Raphaël I Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church, on the situation of Christians in Iraq.

Patriarch Sako blames the American invasion of Iraq for the demise of the Church in his country. "We are a ruined church", he said. "1400 years of Islam could not uproot us from our land and our churches, while the policies of the West [have] scattered us and distributed us all around the world."

The Chaldean Catholic Church is an Eastern Syriac particular church of the Catholic Church, maintaining full communion with the Bishop of Rome and the rest of the Catholic Church. Founded in the earliest days of Christianity (1st to 3rd centuries A.D.), it was originally a part of The Assyrian Church of the East, until in the 16th century Shimun VIII Yohannan Sulaqa entered communion with the Roman Catholic Church. It was renamed as the Chaldean Catholic Church by Rome in 1683.

The Chaldean Catholic Church presently comprises an estimated 500,000 believers, mostly ethnic Assyrians indigenous to northern Iraq, and areas bordering it in southeast Turkey, northeast Syria and northwest Iran. This is a troubled area, coinciding geographically with large parts of what is called "Kurdistan", where the Muslim majority are struggling to carve their own state out of parts of Iraq, Turkey and Syria. In central and south Iraq, fighting between Sunni and Shia Muslims goes on as usual, in spite of -- or because of -- the failure of the American "intervention".

According to Patriarch Sako, the West would have been better off leaving the local peoples to sort out their differences on their own. "Democracy and change come through upbringing and education rather than through conflict," he said. "Intervention by the West in the region did not solve the problems...but on the contrary, produced more chaos and conflict."

Referring to the régime of Saddam Hussein, the patriarch said that "in the Church of the Ascension, Al-Mashtal, for example, there were about 5000 families and over 240 students preparing for their First Holy Communion before the régime’s fall.... On 25 April 2014, I celebrated in this church the Holy Mass for First Holy Communion of 13 students only."

"[Iraqi] government authorities bear part of the responsibility of this migration for failing to restore security and stability," Patriarch Sako continued. He called upon Muslim clerics to issue "a joint statement denying all forms of violence, mistrust and considering others as 'infidels'" and calling "for peace and brotherhood among the people."

For all the goodwill exhibited by Patriarch Sako, Walt thinks the likelihood of any such statement coming out of Iraq is about the same as that of Pope Francis admitting that "we are a ruined church" applies in the larger sense to the Roman Catholic Church as a whole.

Traditional Good Friday prayers

Good Catholic friends... If you attend the Good Friday Liturgy at a mainstream Roman Catholic church today, you will hear only a "reformed", politically correct version of the Solemn Prayers which were said in all our churches, on every Good Friday for centuries, until the disorientation caused by Vatican II. VIDEO: Canuck politico sends season's greetings to infidel atheists

In this morning's piece about Zwarte Piet (see below) Walt wished all the PC types a Merry Christmas. But I wasn't the only one sending out seasonal greetings to those who think Western religion and culture have no place in our modern secular society.

Brian Pallister is leader of the Progressive Conservative [sic] Party of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Last week he got scrummed inside the legislature building by blogger Natalie Pollock. She had the ole camcorder on while Mr. Pallister expressed his feelings for those who feel excluded by all this Christian talk about Christmas. Here's the video.



Reaction from the usual gang of progressive thinkers, secular humanists, atheists and other infidels was as swift as it was predictable. Donna Harris, president of something that calls itself "Humanists, Atheists, and Agnostics of Manitoba" -- number of members unknown -- told the Winnipeg Free Press, "It was very judgmental. The use of the word 'infidels' is especially troubling and negative because there are many countries around the world where being a non-believer, or infidel, may possibly be a death sentence."

Fortunately for Ms Harris, Canada is not among those "many countries". [Which ones could she have meant? Ed.]

When challenged, Mr. Pallister stuck to his guns, defending his use of the word "infidel", which he said the dictionary defines as "non-believer." And so it does.

"I’m always disappointed when people misrepresent the meaning of the words. What I was trying to do there is include everyone in my best wishes over the holidays," he told a press conference this morning. He said he also regrets when his opponents misrepresent what he says. "That being said, I just ask that people in Manitoba ... forgive me at this time of year if they think that I have stepped on their toes, but I sincerely just meant to include everyone in my best wishes. That’s all."
