Your Singhs today (Manitoba edition)

Meet Navjeet Singh, the subject of considerable discussion in the Manitoba legislature last week. Mr Singh is a Sikh -- they have to take off their turbans for mug shots -- who came to Canuckistan from India in 2020 as an international student. 

At the notorious Singh School of Truck Driving in Brampton ON, he learned how to shut off the cab data recorder (like an airplane's "black box") and to doctor driving logs. In 2022 he got a work permit, and, still residing in Brampton, went to work for Diversity Transport Lines.

Mr Singh was behind the wheel of a semi when, in November of 2024, it collided with a car near the rural Manitoba town of Altona, killing a mother and daughter coming home from shopping.

The truck had run through a stop sign on a clear evening. Witnesses and wreckage indicated that it had been travelling at high speed. The Mounties went to the hospital to talk to Mr Singh, who was unimjured but (he said) too shaken up to provide a statement. He promised to come to the station for an interview the next day, and the cops, fearful of being called "racist", opted at that point not to lay charges. 

Within a matter of hours Mr Singh had left both the hospital and, as it turns out, the Great No-longer-white North. He was charged in absentia with dangerous driving causing death, and was finally arrested last August at Toronto's Pearson International Airport after re-entering the country on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from India.  

Mr Singh's lawyer told a Manitoba provincial court that he returned voluntarily to face justice... after eluding it for nine months. Counsel for the Crown suggested that the accused be locked in a closet from which the air could be sucked out through a straw [Ed., please factcheck that] and argued his release would "endanger public confidence in the justice system."

The presiding judge, keeping in mind the Trudeau dictum that "diversity is Canada's strength", granted bail anyway, on the strength of a C$7500 (= $5400 in real money) provided by another Singh. The judge also required Mr Singh to surrender his passport and driver's licence, to obviate the risk he would take another Indian vacation or resume his career. 

Mr Singh faces other conditions, including a curfew and total ban on driving, the imposition of which gave rise to muffled guffaws in the well of the court, since it is well known that such orders are almost never enforced. Just last week Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a driver who had been driving at 144 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, only to find that his licence has been suspended for 40 years. The 60-year-old driver from Toronto had already been convicted of driving while suspended 20 times!

Just in case Mr Singh tries to do another bunk, airport personnel have been asked to be on the lookout for anyone named Singh, sporting a beard and a turban, trying to board a flight to India. Laughter is still echoing through the corridors of YWG and YYZ.

VIDEO: Remembering Christmases past

Those of us who follow the Julian calendar, the Christmas season is just ending. Things ain't what they used to be. A lot of the old customs and traditions have been lost, or (dare say it?) surpressed for reasons of political correctness. Even the word "Christmas" itself has been effectively banned. Note the title at the end of this video.

Agent 5 has been good enough to send along this vintage video, made by Canada's National Film Board, showing how the great Christian holy day was celebrated by the Ukrainian community in the province of Manitoba, 82 years ago.

VIDEO: PPC's Max Bernier will give it another shot

In spite of the ruination of their country "progressing" day after day of the Trudeau dicktatorship, the sheeple of Canuckistan don't think much about politics in May. Hey, the Stanley Cup playoff are on. But it's now officially spring, because the Leafs are out. So Canadians can now turn their attention to getting rid of the smarmy, smug and loathsome Blackie McBlackface.

The next federal election is not due until 2025, although it could come earlier if the pinko "New" Democratic Party gets tired of its role as Trudeau's bitch. However, there is a vacancy in the riding of Portage-Lisgar, a Manitoba seat previously held by Conservative Candice Bergen, who resigned in February. That means a byelection must be held not later than August. Yesterday, Maxime Bernier, erstwhile leader of the People's Party of Canada, became the first to throw his chapeau in the ring. "Mad Max" (as he is known affectionately, and Walt means that sincerely), says the vote in Portage-Lisgar will be a choice between him and what he called a "fake conservative". He told supporters in Portage la Prairie, that the area reminds him of his home riding, and urged them to make history by electing the first member of Parliament representing his party to "open the floodgates." "This byelection" he said "is the starting of a major turning point in Canadian politics!"

  

Portage-Lisgar, in rural Manitoba, is definitely conservative territory. In the last federal election, the PPC candidate there got 22% of the vote, a much better result than in most other ridings. The people of that area want a true conservative, M Bernier said, comparing his party to the former Reform Party. He has learned from that party's mistakes in previous elections, he said, and has no plans to merge with the federal Conservatives Cuckservatives. 

M Bernier urged supporters to join a political revolution and took shots at the Liberals, the NDP and especially the Conservatives, whom he accused of only caring about voters during elections. He also said Canada has changed dramatically for the worse in recent years, railing against what he called "the woke cult" and "moral and cultural degeneracy." He claimed that Canadian society has been overtaken by evil and "those who reject it are silenced and smeared as intolerant, racist and transphobic."

Canada badly needs a truly conservative voice in its politics and its Parliament. Walt wishes "Mad Max" all the best. 

VIDEO: Canuck politico sends season's greetings to infidel atheists

In this morning's piece about Zwarte Piet (see below) Walt wished all the PC types a Merry Christmas. But I wasn't the only one sending out seasonal greetings to those who think Western religion and culture have no place in our modern secular society.

Brian Pallister is leader of the Progressive Conservative [sic] Party of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Last week he got scrummed inside the legislature building by blogger Natalie Pollock. She had the ole camcorder on while Mr. Pallister expressed his feelings for those who feel excluded by all this Christian talk about Christmas. Here's the video.



Reaction from the usual gang of progressive thinkers, secular humanists, atheists and other infidels was as swift as it was predictable. Donna Harris, president of something that calls itself "Humanists, Atheists, and Agnostics of Manitoba" -- number of members unknown -- told the Winnipeg Free Press, "It was very judgmental. The use of the word 'infidels' is especially troubling and negative because there are many countries around the world where being a non-believer, or infidel, may possibly be a death sentence."

Fortunately for Ms Harris, Canada is not among those "many countries". [Which ones could she have meant? Ed.]

When challenged, Mr. Pallister stuck to his guns, defending his use of the word "infidel", which he said the dictionary defines as "non-believer." And so it does.

"I’m always disappointed when people misrepresent the meaning of the words. What I was trying to do there is include everyone in my best wishes over the holidays," he told a press conference this morning. He said he also regrets when his opponents misrepresent what he says. "That being said, I just ask that people in Manitoba ... forgive me at this time of year if they think that I have stepped on their toes, but I sincerely just meant to include everyone in my best wishes. That’s all."
