Meanwhile, at the Vatican

Warning to our Traditional Catholic readers: They came for the SSPX (including its lay supporters) this month. The FSSP is next. And then?

Pope Leo XIII laid the groundwork for the Oath Against Modernism (click here for complete text) which was promulgated by Pope St. Pius X in on 1 September 1910, via his Moto Proprio Sacrorum antistitum

At the core of the Oath are four key tenets of the Catholic Faith.
Reason and God: God's existence can be proven with certainty by human reason using the natural light of created things.
External Proofs: Divine revelation and miracles are real, historical, and valid signs of the Christian religion's origin.
Divine Institution: The Church was historically founded by the real Christ and built upon Saint Peter.
Immutable Dogma: Church dogmas possess absolute, unchanging meaning and do not evolve into entirely new concepts over time. [The emphasis is Walt's.]

Pope Paul VI presumably swore the Oath Against Modernism when he was ordained as a priest, since doing so was required at that time. Yet in 1967 he purported to abolish the Oath and replace it with a watered down "Profession of Faith".

That was only a foretaste of what was to come, a first step on the path to Francis' and Leo's New Church of the New World Order. Walt anticipates the promulgation of a new "Oath For Modernism", to which all who want to be in "full communion" with the Church will be required to subscribe. God save us! St. Thomas More, pray for us.

VIDEO: Every Traditional Catholic needs to watch this NOW!

Our regular readers will know that Walt is excited -- "incensed" would be a better word -- by the Vatican's purported "automatic excommunication" of the 6 bishops, >700 priests and 10s of 1000s of lay people who belong to and/or support the Society of St. Pius X.

The SSPX incurred the wrath of Pope Leo XIV and  his chief minion, Carndinal "Tuccio" Fernandez, by consecrating four new bishops on July 1st, without the approval or consent of the Holy See. According to Canon Law, that's illegal. BUT can you punish those involved -- including the innocent laypeople -- by cutting them off from the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church without a formal declaration or any kind of hearing?

Among those saying "NO!" is Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper and  host of Remnant Underground. See "Michael Matt reacts to the SSPX consecrations", WWW 1/7/26. In his latest video, dropped earlier today, Mr Matt argues that the real story isn't simply about excommunications or canon law. It's about whether the Vatican is at war with Catholic Tradition itself... and whether faithful Catholics will allow themselves to be divided while it happens.

Dear Catholic reader, whether you attend an SSPX chapel, an FSSP apostolate, the Institute of Christ the King, a diocesan Latin Mass, or none of the above, this message is for you. Watch now... and share it with every Catholic trying to understand what is really happening before the clans of Tradition are divided once again.

Open letter of the Society of St. Pius X to Pope Leo XIV

As promised (and as necessary given the current crisis in the Roman Catholic Church) the Society of St. Pius X, on June 30th, consecrated four new bishops without the approval of the Holy See. For background, see "Letter from Michael Matt re the Society of St. Pius X's intended consecration of new bishops", 30/6/26, includes video.

The Vatican responded with a decree signed not by Pope Leo XIV but by Cardinal Víctor Manuel "Tuccio" Fernández, the heretic and pervert who serves [serves whom? Ed.] as Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, to excommunicate all the bishops, priests, and religious of the Society of St. Pius X, as well as the faithful who attend SSPX Masses.

Here is the Society's response.

Letter to the Holy Father regarding the Decree of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith

The Superior General To His Holiness Pope Leo XIV
Ecône, 3 July 2026

Among yourselves, if a father is asked by his son for bread, will he give him a stone? Or for a fish, will he give him a snake instead of a fish? Or if he is asked for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? Why then, if you, evil as you are, know well enough how to give your children what is good for them, is not your Father much more ready to give, from heaven, his gracious Spirit to those who ask him? (Lk XI, 11-13)

Most Holy Father, The notification of the decision taken by the Holy See regarding the Society of Saint Pius X, signed by His Eminence Cardinal Fernández, has reached us and is now a matter of public knowledge.

It appears to us that this decision once more brings to light the profoundly tragic context in which the universal Church finds herself. What the Society of Saint Pius X has done, and will continue to do, is nothing other than an extraordinary initiative for the salvation of souls, amidst the doctrinal and moral confusion into which the Church is plunged. We in no way claim to substitute ourselves for the Church, and we have no ambition other than to remain faithful to her.

In conscience, we did not believe we could evade the moral duty we owe to souls, as we have already explained, both privately and publicly, to Your Holiness.

We had asked for bread, that is to say, a measure of understanding for a sincere case of conscience—an act of fatherhood directed not so much toward the Society of Saint Pius X as toward souls, promising You to form them into true sons of the Roman Church; unfortunately, we received a stone.

We had asked for a fish, that is to say, the possibility of temporarily obtaining the necessary means to continue forming good priests, so that they might pursue their mission of making Our Lord known to souls; unfortunately, we received a serpent.

We had asked for an egg, promising to return it as soon as possible. Indeed, the holy Tradition that we preserve within souls belongs to the Church, our Mother—and not to the Society of Saint Pius X—and we are certain that one day a Pope will wish to employ it for the good of the universal Church; unfortunately, we received a scorpion.

We had asked to be instructed and confirmed in the faith of all time; instead, we have been declared schismatic a second time.

Despite the sanctions levelled against us, the Society of Saint Pius X sincerely renews the promise it has already expressed to Your Holiness. Allow me, in this regard, to freely reiterate what I have previously stated:

"The Society promises You…to devote all its energies to preserving Tradition and placing it at the service of the Church. In doing so, the Society of Saint Pius X does not merely maintain ancient customs; it fosters and preserves priestly vocations, religious vocations, and large, deeply Christian families—in a word, everything that manifests the vitality of the Church, of grace, and of the Catholic faith. Our intention is not to offer the Church a museum of antiquities, but rather the entirety of Tradition: fruitful, a source of spiritual life, embodied and lived out within souls.

...I am certain that one day You yourself, or one of Your successors, will be able and willing to utilise this service, the offering of which, within the Church and for the Church, constitutes our sole reason for being." (Personal letter addressed to His Holiness on 21 November 2025)

But above all, the Society of Saint Pius X promises You today that it will not receive these new sanctions—objectively unjust and invalid—with bitterness or revolt.

These recent condemnations, like those of the past, strike at what we hold most dear: our attachment to our Mother, the Roman Church. Yet, even in this trial, all things must work together for the good of souls and of the Church herself. Therefore, these condemnations compel us to love Holy Church even more, and to provide for her needs with all our strength, now more than ever. For this very reason, the Society of Saint Pius X willingly offers up the suffering caused by these new sanctions for the good of the universal Church and of Your Holiness.

We are certain that one day You yourself, or one of Your successors, will wish to adopt the program of Saint Pius X: "To restore all things in Christ", Instaurare omnia in Christo.

On that day, the Holy Father will discover in the Society of Saint Pius X not a nest of serpents and scorpions, but a small army of loyal sons, ready to do anything to sustain Him in the restoration of all things in Our Lord, and to vindicate before all mankind the imprescriptible rights of Christ the King over all souls and over all nations.

On that day, the Holy Father will discover, with great joy and profound consolation, authentically Catholic souls whose bond with the Church was never founded upon the shifting sands of an ambiguous dialogue, but upon the rock of the faith of Peter.

We ask the Most Holy Virgin Mary to hasten the dawning of that day, and we pray, above all, that Your Holiness may experience this joy and consolation as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if You are able, despite Your recent decision, bless us as Your sons. For us, nothing has changed, and nothing ever will change.

Trusting in Divine Providence, from which nothing is hidden and which reads into the depths of every man's heart,
I remain, Most Holy Father, your most devoted son in the Lord.
Don Davide Pagliarani

VIDEO: Michael Matt reacts to the SSPX consecrations

This is a follow-up to "Letter from Michael Matt re the Society of St. Pius X's intended consecration of new bishops",WWW 30/6/26. The consecrations took place in Switzerland this morning, as promised. On the latest Remnant Underground, Mr Matt asks: What happens now?

Mr Matt, like the rest of us traditional Catholics, is waiting for Pope Leo's slipper to drop. Will he blink, or will he drop the excrement-mallet on all those who dare to be Catholic? Stay tuned!!!

VIDEO + Fw: Letter from Michael Matt re the Society of St. Pius X's intended consecration of new bishops, scheduled for tomorrow

Traditional Catholics like YVT are on the edge of their seats [on their knees in prayer, surely. Ed.] waiting to see if Pope Leo XIV will make good on the threat delivered by his minion, Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, to excommunicate all the bishops, priests, and religious of the Society of St. Pius X, as well as the faithful who attend SSPX Masses, if the Society goes ahead with the consecration of four new bishops without the approval of the Vatican.

The SSPX is doing this because the Catholic Church -- the church established by Our Lord Jesus Christ while He was here on Earth -- is in crisis. To understand the nature of the crisis, and why this consecration must be done, watch this Remnant Underground video, with Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper and author of the open letter which we received today and publish below.

Michael Matt writes:
The night before the SSPX has long-since planned to consecrate bishops and the very day that they have welcomed 30,000 faithful to Econe to witness the liturgical ceremony, Pope Leo – who has evidently refused to meet with the Superior General of the SSPX, despite multiple filial requests – is NOW suggesting he’s "open to dialogue".

Pope Leo’s letter reads in part: "I beg and implore you with all my heart: turn back! I urge you to carefully consider the spiritual good of the faithful, for the schismatic act you would commit would deprive them of the lawful -- and in some cases even valid -- reception of the sacraments they love and seek for their own sanctification. The Church is open to a path of dialogue and understanding that the Holy Spirit can make possible and fruitful. I pray for you, for tearing the seamless Tunic of Christ is a sin of the utmost gravity."

This is a wonderful example of pre-emptive damage control and papal hubris. But what about the Vatican's role in tearing the "seamless tunic" to shreds by throwing us out of our churches, depriving our children of the only Mass they've ever known, leaving the Catholic schools in such chaos that we are obliged to educate our children at home?

What about the clerical sex scandals that have rocked the Church ever since our children can remember? What has the Holy See actually done about that? Father Rupnick's "artwork" is still disfiguring the facades of cathedrals all over Europe, as if to announce that, once again, the Vatican cares nothing about the victims of priestly sexual abuse.

What about the liturgical insanity that first forced faithful Catholics to drive for hours on Sunday mornings in search of something that looks vaguely Catholic, and then ultimately led to empty pews and churches closing everywhere?

What about the millions of young people who have simply walked out of the Church forever, so tired are they of a largely homosexualized priesthood and a completely emasculated liturgy?

The nuns are mostly gone. The schools are mostly closed. The churches that are still open are mostly celebrating gay pride. And the crisis in the Church is so serious that even Pope John Paul called it the "silent apostasy". Surely, the Holy Father can't be serious that WE are to blame for the abuse we've endured at the hands of our spiritual fathers.

How badly does His Holiness think we're suffering from Stockholm Syndrome that just a couple of years after Traditionis Custodes – when the Vatican ruthlessly ripped the Latin Mass out of our lives and in effect told our kids to go to hell – we'd now be ready to hear a papal lecture about how the SSPX is responsible for tearing the seamless garment by establishing scattered oases of Catholic water and life in the middle of the spiritual desert that the Vatican has made out of our beloved Catholic Church?

No, Holy Father, we beg YOU – do not do this! Do not expel one of the few orders of faithful heterosexual priests left – priests who have remained true to the Faith of our fathers and who are far more concerned about the souls of our children than about celebrating LGBT outreach here in the Month of the Sacred Heart.

We have been abused by the Vatican long enough, Holy Father. We have had enough of Vatican abuse and apostasy scandalizing our children. Please, for God's sake and the sake of our children, stop this madness!
In Christo Rege,
Michael J. Matt

Yeah, sure, Holy Father... if such you are! Investigation under way!

Seriously? Is it possible even that the Wokest Pope Ever can be that naïve?

Or is it possible (as some "radtrad" Catholics argue) that Leo XIV is not really the Pope? In a post published a couple of days ago on his Return to Tradition vlog but since taken down, Anthony Stine repeated a story that originated with Italian journalist Andrea Cionci. John-Henry Westen's exclusive on LifeSite News is headlined thus:

This is the first time the Vatican’s criminal investigative office has put in writing that multi-year claims have triggered an active investigation file on the validity of Benedict’s renunciation.

In a letter dated 30 March 2026 (reproduced in the article), the authenticity of which has been proven, ), Professor Alessandro Diddi, the Vatican's Promoter of Justice, rejected a request for access to the investigative file. The rejection was made solely on procedural grounds during an ongoing inquiry, not because the petition was deemed without merit.

Cazart! If the court finds that Pope Benedict's resignation was made under durerss, and was therefore invalid, everything done by Francis the Talking Pope and his minions, is invalid! That would include the elevation of Father Robert Francis Prevost, who was named a bishop and then a cardinal by Francis, who his Leonine successor is now rushing to canonize.

The Vatican is doing all it can to deep six the fact of the investigation. Walt guesses that pressure was brought on Dr Stine, perhaps by the bishop of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, in which he resides. And, other than Mr Westen, no Catholic commentator that I follow has picked up the report. I'm waiting to hear from Dr Taylor Marshall and Michael Matt, but they have been silent so far.

Of course it could turn out to be nothing. Do we really think a Vatican court will rule that nothing said or done by anyone since 13 March 2013 [A numerologist might have some fun with this date. Ed.] is of any effect? Still... stay tuned!

VIDEO: Cardinal Zen speaks truth to his brother prelates

Warning: This video is addressed to Catholics, particularly those who hold to the Faith of our fathers, as passed down to us through the apostles and Doctors of the Church by Our Lord Jesus Christ when He walked among us.

Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-Kiun, the Bishop Emeritus of Hong Kong, is (IMHO) a martyr-in-waiting. He has been a prominent advocate for human rights and religious freedom in China, and a leading opponent of the Vatican’s 2018 secret agreement with the Communists on the appointment of bishops in China. He has been jailed for his beliefs, restricted from travelling, even restricted from speaking.

The Communist rulers of China wish that Cardinal Zen, who is now 93 years of age, would die. But God allows him to live for the purpose (it would seem) of being a thorn in the side of the new Church of Synodality founded by Francis the talking pope and now being promoted by his successor, Pope Leo XIV, of whom better things were hoped.

Cardinal Zen received permission from his keepers to attend the first consistory -- meeting of all the cardinals -- called by Pope Prevost, held in the Vatican this week. Many traditional Catholics were hoping and praying that the prelates would be allowed to discuss openly the crisis in the Roman Catholic Church and advocate a "reform of the reforms" of Vatican II and the "ultra-reforms" (read: heresies) of Francis.

Thus there was great disappointment when the long-awaited consistory -- Francis was notorious for not meeting with the Cardinals -- turned out to be nothing more than what Anthony Stine calls "a meeting about meetingality". Cardinal Zen called an exercise in "iron-clad manipulation."

In this video Mr Stine reads the statement given by Cardinal Zen following  his private meeting with Pope Leo, and explains why what did not happen at the consistory is far more important than what did happen.

Dear Catholic friends, now would be a good time -- it's always a good time -- to renew our prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. It is a powerful invocation for spiritual protection, recognizing Saint Michael as the leader of the heavenly hosts and a champion of God's people against spiritual darkness, especially during times of spiritual warfare. Let us pray:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Walt's predictions for 2026

Ready for New Year 2026? You'll go to bed tonight, and when you wake up in the morning (DV) everything will be new, improved and wonderful! Well... not everything.

That politicians will still be lying to us in 2026 is a prediction Walt can make with absolutely certainty of being correct. That some of those politicians will be assisted by the (((controlled media))) is another. And that there will be a deluge of AI-generated fake news is yet another.

Should we go beyond that? Why not just rest on our laurels? At the end of 2025 Walt predicted that at least two of Demented Joe Biden, Justin "Blackface" Trudeau, and Francis the Pope of the New World Order would be out of office by the end of the year. We hit the trifecta on that one, 3 for 3, lifetime pct .987.

Sadly, the successors to Trudeau and Francis have proved to be little better than their predecessors. Marx Carney and Pope Leo XIV are almost as liberal as their predecessors, and still leading their constituents down the path to One World and social, political and financial ruin. About POTUS, we can say only that his first year has been a disappointment.

A few things seem likely to happen in 2026 so we might as well list our fears, viz.:
* The AI bubble will not burst, but will start to deflate. (That's not a bad thing.)
* There will be some kind of deal to end (or suspend?) Russia's war against Ukraine. The Ukraine will get screwed. See "Selling out Ukraine to appease Putin would be a huge mistake", WWW 28/12/25.

* Attendance at mainstream Catholic churches will continue to fall freely as the Church gets gayer and gayer. Catholics who keep the Faith will turn in even greater numbers to chapels run by Traditional Latin Mass groups such as the FFSP and SSPX.

* "Trump tariffs" will be overturned by SCOTUS. President Trump will promise new and improved tariffs which will make Americans 1000% richer than they are now, if they vote Republican.
* The mid-term shit-hammer will fall hard on the Republicans, as Ukrainian-Americans and disaffected conservatives will stay home in drove.

* Venezuelan President Maduros will be out of office by this time next year.
* The mayors of at least two American cities will, without pushing from Washington, call on their police forces (and possibly the National Guard!) to tear down the verminous encampments and clean up the streets of their shit-hole cities.

* The world will not be a better place on 31 December 2026 than it is today. We can only hope and pray it will be not much worse.

Walt, that's enough gloom and doom for one day. Please don't write anything more until next year! Ed.
OK. Happy New Year anyway. Walt

"The hierarchy of the Catholic Church are just a bunch of weird perverts"

Cazart! Who said that?! None other than our old friend, Dr Taylor Marshall, one of the leading advocates for traditional Catholicism. But fear not. Dr Marshall has not converted to Francis' New Church of the World Order. In this video he is just discussing the optics of the appointment by Pope Leo XIV of  Ramón Bejarano as the new bishop of Monterey CA.

What's wrong with that? In this video, Dr Marshall discusses the new bishop's celebration of an “All are Welcome LGBT Pride” Mass, at which a drag kween activist was permitted to speak. What are we to think of a church in which "sin doesn't matter any more"?

How can we look to people like these to show us the path to salvation, when they, by their actions and blatant rejection of the teachings of Holy Mother Church and the Commandments of God, have condemned themselves to eternal separation from God, to hell!?

.

This is a long video, over an hour. Before you decide you haven't got time to listen, read a few lines from the transcript.

3:23: ...when you bring up to the pulpit or the ambo those who advocate 3:56 for teachings that are contrary to the Catholic Faith, you are featuring them. 4:03 You are promoting them and you are eroding Catholic belief, morality and 4:09 identity and we are done

Now that doesn't mean leave the Catholic 4:14 Church....  4:19 you stay in the Catholic Church. We've had troubles before. We have troubles 4:25 now. And the problem right now is there's this permissive attitude that we 4:30 can wink at sin and bring it into the pulpit and bring it into the mass and highlight it 4:38 and pretend that sin doesn't matter anymore

...I believe modernist heretical liberal 4:44 clergy, whatever you want to call them, I don't think they have supernatural faith. I don't think that they believe 4:51 that the grace of baptism and confirmation can transform a sinful person, 5:00 a person who is living a disordered lifestyle that the grace of Jesus Christ... can actually transform that person out of 5:11 their disordered habits and lifestyle....

...this person who 5:23 was in the pulpit during the mass, Nicole Murray Ramirez... I don't think people really realize who this person is. This is that person 5:34 at mass. This is that person in their drag outfit. Notice they got the cross on. 5:40 But if you go to Wikipedia and check that out here, here is also 5:46 the drag queen. Nicole Murray Ramirez is a Lmento [???] activist and frequent San Diego 5:55 city committee appointee known as Empress Nicole the Great. 6:01 Queen Mother of the Americas with the imperial court system of which 6:07 she is the titular leader....

This person 6:18 says that he or she is the queen mother 6:24 and the empress of Americas. 6:29 That's sacrilege. That's evil. Why? you know, let's just be Catholic 6:38 and just go off the truth. I knew it was offensive to pious ears 6:44 because my ears burned when I when I heard that....

Pope Pius XII 6:53 of blessed memory declared that Our Lady of Guadalupe was the empress of Americas in 1945, 6:59 not this person.... 7:19 Pope St. John Paul II in 1999 proclaimed Our Lady Guadalupe as 7:25 patroness of the Americas, empress of Latin America, and protector of unborn 7:31 children. And we know that if you watch my videos, the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Queen Mother.

So why is this person 7:41 dressing up in this way? Look over here. Look, born 1940. Other names, Empress 7:48 Nicole the Great. Queen Mother of the Americas, Empress, Queen Mother. What is 7:53 going on here?...  8:12 Nicole Marray Ramirez has been a Latino and gay activist for 45 years, serving in roles in the national chair of Leggo and the national 8:23 chair of Stonewall 25. Stonewall, if you're a Catholic, you need to look into that.

8:31 And and the only gay activist in the country who has been elected to all four national boards on the Marches on DC. He 8:39 was also elected chair of the Millennium March. He is the past state chair of the Equality California. 8:47 He served four-year term on the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. 8:53 He takes the title of Queen Mother. 8:59 It's been grand marshal for the parade for on its 30-year anniversary. 9:05 And he is the founder. Okay, this is the person that mass tall brought up [???] by the new bishop. All 9:11 right. Pope Leo just appointed this guy as a new bishop in Monterey and and this 9:18 is what he's this is what he's bringing into the Mass.

Warning from Ed.: When you watch this on YouTube, do not, repeat DO NOT look to their transcript to clarify something you hear Dr Marshall say but are not certain that you heard it correctly. The YouTube transcript is AI slop, generated by a machine that knows nothing about the Catholic Faith or the words we use to talk about our Church and our Faith. I have copied the few lines above just to give you the flavour of Dr Marshall's talk, and even so have had to indicate with [???] words or phrases that I think are incorrectly transcribed. Rewind the tape (so to speak) and listen for yourself.

Confessions of a Baptist

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!"
He said, "Nobody loves me."
I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes."

I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?"
He said, "A Christian."
I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?"
He said, "Protestant."
I said, "Me, too! What denomination?"
He said, "Baptist."

I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Baptist."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist."

I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region."
I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912."

I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him off the bridge.

From a comment by "Hog of Steel" on a Breitbart News story about the upcoming prayer meeting of two heretics (Pope Leo XIV and King Charles III) at the Vatican. According to Mr Steel, this was voted (he doesn't say by whom) the funniest religious joke of all time in 2005.

The ongoing "deculturation of Europe" can only result in the destruction of Western civilzation

Ray Oliver Dreher Jr, aka Rod Dreher, is an American conservative writer and editor living in Hungary. He is a critic of large-scale immigration to the US of A and Europe, and a staunch defender of  the concept of Western civilization.

Mr Dreher has been condemned by the usual suspects for his on Jean Raspail's 1973 novel The Camp of the Saints. To be fair, he strongly criticized the novel's use of derogatory language to describe non-Westerners and called the book bad, both aesthetically and morally. But he also referred to the "valuable" and "prophetic" lessons that can be drawn from the work, including from Raspail's argument, which Dreher presents as potentially correct, that "the only way to defend Western civilization from these invaders [non-Western immigrants] is to be willing to shed their blood."

He refers again to M Raspail's book in his diary entry published October 12th, headed Role Of Church Elites In Europe's Suicide. The subhead: "Christians Cannot Afford To Trust Ecclesial Leaders To Defend The Faith". A big thank-you to BCF for directing us to the Substack post, from which we take this excerpt:

...we all heard a speech by Thibault de Montbrial...[who] has a new book coming out in France next week, about what he regards as his country's "emergency" situation.... He warned that western Europeans should prepare themselves for mass violence at the level the continent...hasn’t seen since the end of World War II. That is to say (though he didn’t use this term), civil wars....

He explained that Islamists have managed to infiltrate both public and private institutions all over Europe, and are using it to their advantage. How did all this happen?

De Montbrial, a practicing Catholic, said that the core of the problem is cultural — namely, that France (and Europe) has lost all sense of who and what it is. It has forgotten its past, and any sense of connection to it, and has lost its identity. (This is what Renaud Camus calls “The Great Deculturation”).

How do you expect young people to resist people (Muslims) who are hostile to Western civilization, and who have a strong culture, if you have produced a generation, or generations, of people who have no culture?

[De Montbrial] said that in France, Muslim activists are even succeeding in winning over the hearts and minds of no small number of native-born French, by telling them, basically: "Look around you at what a nihilistic, pornified disaster modern Europe has become. Is that really what you want? Convert, join the ummah, and gain a story. Become part of the glorious march through history of the sons and daughters of the Prophet." It works, he said....

This, he went on, is why though France and other European countries have to use legal, political, and law enforcement means to fight this stuff, the core of the struggle is cultural. If Europe doesn’t recover its sense of history and culture, and in a meaningful way, such that its people are willing to fight to defend it, all will be lost.

A subsequent speaker made the point more explicit: at the heart of culture is cult, or religion. Either Europe re-Christianizes, or it Islamizes. There is no stable third option.

Worth reading: Suicide of the West, by James Burnham. The John Day Company, New York, 1964. An essay on the meaning and destiny of liberalism, even more relevant 60 years later than it was when published. You don't believe me? Look around you!

VIDEO: Michael Matt asks who's behind the gay invasion of St. Peter's

In our last post yesterday we promised to repost the latest Remnant TV video by Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper, on the topic of last weekend's gay invasion of St. Peter's Basilica.

This is a shortened version of the Remnant Underground video posted on Remnant TV, focusing on Mr Matt's commentary of the abomination of desolation in the holy place, in the holy year, and in the Holy See, as 1300 proud gay and lesbian "Catholics" are welcomed (by whom?) into the Basilica for a Jubilee Year celebration of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Even Fox News Channel covered The Remnant’s report from Rome on the most horrific scandal since Pachamama. But what does it mean? Is Pope Leo onboard, or are we looking at yet another pope who will flee for fear of the wolves?  Watch, listen and think!

The Big Question posed by Mr Matt is this: Would Father Robert Prevost -- the man who became Pope Leo XIV -- approve? Where is Father Prevost now? Where is the Father Prevost who said the media is trying to shame the Catholic Church for her strong stand on abortion and homosexual unions? Is the pope we are seeing now the real man, or the creation of the Mauve Mafia? And if Father Prevost has really become Francis II, what shall we traditional Catholics do? Mr Matt gives the answer.

VIDEO: Dr Taylor Marshall on Pope Leo's apparent endorsement of Father James Martin

Yesterday we posted a brief video by our old friend Michael Matt, as part of an update to "What about that 'Father James Martin'?". We also gave you, in "Walt's forecast on Leo XIV's papacy: no change expected", the link to another commentary by Anthony Stine. Both videos deal with what Mr Matt called "the nightmare in Minneapolis" and the connection with Father James Martin, the heretical priest who is the chief Catholic [not really Ed.] promoter of the LGBTQ agenda.

Today we want to share the thoughts of  Dr Taylor Marshall, another powerful voice of traditional Catholicism, and author of the just-released Christian Patriot! To get your copy,  hot off the press, follow the links in the YouTube feed.

In this video, live-streamed earlier today, Dr Marshall shows a photo of Pope Leo XIV meeting with the Queer Priest whose mission is to turn Catholics (and everyone else towards -- not away from, but towards beliefs and practices that are antithetical to the Gospel of Salvation.

Dr Marshall argues that the Holy Father should immediately issue a profound mea culpa, and reaffirm the Faith of our fathers. And if he doesn't? Is this the end of the "wait and see" period for Pope Leo? The video is long, but worth watching, at least the first 40 minutes or so. In the second half, Dr Marshall answers questions and comments from those watching the livestream.

Walt's forecast on Leo XIV's papacy: no change expected

Since May, Walt has said nothing much about Pope Leo XIV, whom many traditional Catholics had hoped (and prayed) would slow down, if not stop the descent of the Roman Catholic Church into wokeness, heresy and irrelevancy. "Give him time," said our old friend Michael Matt. Well, we did, and are saddened to report that the passage of nearly three months has revealed the new pope to be very little different from his predecessor, Francis the Talking Pope.

Pope Prevost's appointments to the Roman Curia, announced very quietly on Friday, have been mostly modernists, and protégés of Francis.

Nor has he stopped the crackdown on the Traditional Latin Mass, ordered by some bishops "in accordance with the wishes of Pope Francis", even though Francis had gone to his reward.

And today, we have news of a meeting between Pope Leo and Father James Martin, to whom we devoted an entire post just last week

Father Martin is as gay as 18 balloons, and found favour in the eyes of Francis as one of the most prominent advocates for "gay marriage" and "greater LGBTQ+ inclusion in the Catholic Church". Father Martin told the meeja that Leo "encouraged his ministry", just days before a planned Holy Year pilgrimage of LGBTQ+ Catholics to the Vatican, in a sign of "continued welcome in this new pontificate."

He said also that Leo told him he intended to continue Pope Francis’ policy of LGBTQ+ acceptance in the Church. "I heard the same message from Pope Leo that I heard from Pope Francis, which is the desire to welcome all people, including LGBTQ people," the objectively heretical priest told AP after the audience. "It was wonderful. It was very consoling and very encouraging and frankly a lot of fun."

The meeting, which lasted about half an hour, was officially announced by the Vatican in a sign that the new pope wanted it made public, to signal continuity with Francis, who more than any of Leo’s predecessors worked to make the Catholic Church more queer-friendly.

From his 2013 quip, "Who am I to judge?" about a purportedly gay priest, to his decision to allow priests to bless same-sex couples, Francis distinguished himself with his message of welcome. During his 12-year papacy, Francis met on several occasions with Fr Martin and named him an advisor in the Vatican's communications department and a member of his "Synod on synodality", a big multi-year meeting on the future of the Church.

Still, Francis never changed church teaching saying homosexual acts are "intrinsically disordered". Whether Leo will attempt to change dogma is something of a question. Soon after he was elected in May, remarks surfaced from 2012 in which Father Robert Prevost, as he then was, criticized the "homosexual lifestyle" and the role of mass media in promoting acceptance of same-sex relationships that conflicted with Catholic doctrine.

When he became a cardinal in 2023, Catholic News Service asked Prevost if his views had changed. He acknowledged Francis' call for a more inclusive church, saying Francis "made it very clear that he doesn’t want people to be excluded simply on the basis of choices that they make, whether it be lifestyle, work, way to dress, or whatever." The doctrine of the Church had not changed, Cardinal Prevost said, "but we are looking to be more welcoming and more open and to say all people are welcome in the church."

So where does the new Pope Prevost stand today? Fr Martin, who knew him from their time working together in the aforementioned synod, told AP he wasn't worried about Leo's views, and had always found him to be "a very open, welcoming, inclusive person.... But it's wonderful to hear this continuation."

What about that "Father James Martin"? - BONUS VIDEO ADDED

Some readers have expressed puzzlement over Walt's reference in "What made her/him do it?!", WWW 27/8/25, to "evil priests of the Father Hames Martin type". "Who he?", we hear them ask. That's him  on the right in the picture, giving his priestly blessing to a gay couple.

Father Martin is an American Jesuit priest and pro-queer activist. He was a great friend of the late Jorge Bergoglio (a Jesuit known by some as Pope Francis), and is now in the very good graces of Pope Leo XIV and members of the Mauve Mafia in the Vatican.

Father Martin is objectively a heretic in that he not only denies but openly advocates one of the mortal sins that deprive the soul of grace. They are serious transgressions of God's law, done freely and deliberately with a clear understanding of what they are. Their result is to deny a soul entrance to heaven.

There are particular mortal sins that are so evil that they cry to heaven for vengeance. They are (with Biblical references for our readers who insist that only what's in the Bible counts): murder (Genesis 4:10), sodomy (Genesis 18:20-21), oppression of the poor (Exodus 2:23), and defrauding workers of their just wages (St. James 5:4).

Sodomy and other "choices" of the liberal/libertine lifestyle are still regarded by Holy Mother Church as grave sins, even though modernists priests and bishops don't say the silent part out loud since the days of Pope Benedict XVI. Just one day before his election, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger delivered a homily in which he denounced modern trends he said were undermining Catholicism and Western civilization. "We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism," he said, "which does not recognize anything for certain and which has as its highest goal one's own ego and one's own desires."

As enforcer of Catholic dogma, Cardinal Ratzinger chastised dissident theologians, said no to female priests, no to married priests and no to gay marriage. He described homosexuality as an "objective disorder and an intrinsic moral evil."

One of the pontiff's most successful and most emotional trips was to the United States in 2008, where he tackled the most painful issue for the Catholic Church in America — clerical sex abuse — saying he was deeply ashamed. "It is in the context of this hope born of God's love and fidelity that I acknowledge the pain which the church in America has experienced as a result of the sexual abuse of minors," he said. "No words of mine could describe the pain and harm inflicted by such abuse ... nor can I adequately describe the damage that has occurred within the community of the Church."

Readers should now understand my wondering, yesterday, if Robin (formerly Robert) Westman might have been "influenced" by "evil priests of the Father James Martin type." If, indeed, the Minneapolis shooter was "influenced" by an evil priest, that does not excuse her/him. But it condemns the one who led the little one astray.

He that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea. (St. Matthew 18:6)

VIDEO: Dr Taylor Marshall on the possibility of Pope Leo XIV "unleashing" the Traditional Latin Mass

Traditional Catholics have been waiting (and praying) since May for Pope Leo XIV to do something to end the "liturgy wars" being waged by the Vatican on those who prefer the Traditional Latin Mass -- the Mass of All Time, established by Pope St. Pius V following the Council of Trent.

In his latest commentary on the crisis in the Roman Catholic Church, Dr Taylor Marshall explores three possibilities for whether Pope Leo XIV will "unleash" the TLM:
1) Leo overturns Traditiones Custodes
2) Leo gives the decision to bishops; or
3) Leo continues the strict measures of Pope Francis.

This is a long video, and probably of interest only to Catholics, but you'll hear some interesting things, including the latest on Vatican reporter Diane Montagna's revelation that Francis lied about his reasons for issuing Traditiones Custodes.

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and direct Pope Leo to do the right thing, and protect Holy Mother Church from Her enemies without... and within... And let us pray to Saint Michael the Archangel:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Pope Leo XIV echoes the looney left's call for "peaceful coexistence"

On Sundays I go my local church, where we still have the Mass of All Time, so failed to attend Pope Leo XIV's Mass in St. Peter's Square on Sunday.

ABC News reports that, in his homily, Pope Prevost criticized the surge of "nationalist political movements in the world" and called for "reconciliation and dialogue" with... well, he didn't say who we should "dialogue" with, but I would guess that he meant the people now mixing up the Molotov cocktails.

That would accord with the Pope's pledges to make the Catholic Church a symbol of peace. Last Sunday was Pentecost Sunday, so Leo asked the Holy Spirit to "break down barriers and tear down the walls of indifference and hatred." The leftist commentariat tell us he meant the Great Wall now abuilding between the USA and Mexico, not the other one.

"Where there is love, there is no room for prejudice," the Pontiff went on (and on) "for 'security’ zones separating us from our neighbours, for the exclusionary mindset that, tragically, we now see emerging also in political nationalisms." Again, he did not name any specific country or politician.

"First of all, peace in our hearts, for only a peaceful heart can spread peace in the family, society and international relations," Leo said, then prayed for reconciliation and dialogue wherever there is war in the world. He didn't say anything about Los Angeles.

VIDEO: Michael Matt dunks on Charlotte's "Bishop Boomer"

Walt is pleased to forward the following e-mail, received last night from Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper.

Hello James, It's all a lie. The Bishop of Charlotte, NC, is perpetuating a bald-faced lie – that the Latin Mass is divisive and needs to be canceled in the name of unity. In the new Underground (below), I offer 40 years' worth of evidence-based PROOF that the Latin Mass is, in fact, a great unifier in any diocese.

Four of the Bishop’s own priests have sent him a letter, begging him to reconsider his ban on the thriving Latin Mass centers in Charlotte. Thousands of his own faithful have done the same. But the cries of the sheep have fallen on the deaf ears of the angry shepherd.

So much for Synodality, right Bishop Michael Martin?

This coming weekend, ironically, another bishop – Mgr. Philippe Christory, Bishop of Chartres, France – will open the doors of his iconic cathedral to 25,000 traditional Catholics for the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass on Pentecost Monday. In this tale of two bishops, the American is obviously an embarrassment to Catholics all across the country.

The "listening Church?" Yeah, right!

Such hateful intolerance of faithful Catholics is unacceptable, and we call upon Pope Leo XIV to replace the Bishop of Charlotte with someone more akin to the Bishop of Chartres, who though not a Traditionalist, is nevertheless a pastor who is willing to listen to and accompany all of his sheep. . . even those who love the Latin Mass.

For the very best arguments against the Bishop of Charlotte’s pathetic witch hunt – including vintage Michael Davies on who is actually disobeying Vatican II (hint: it’s not the traditionalists) – please watch and share this with everyone you know. Enough is enough already!

In Christo Rege, Michael J. Matt
