Ed. answers questions from the mailbag

Ed. here. It's been a long time since we answered readers' questions, so let's dig into the mailbag...

From Wynot NE, Chris P. Bacon writes: Sometimes I feel I want to comment on Walt's bloviations, but I never see a window where I can write my own astute observations. How can I cast a few pearls in Walt's direction?

Dear Crisp: Where did you get that word "bloviations"? Are you reading some other alt-right blogger, like Krauthammer? Walt is jealous. But to answer your question, if you're on the WWW home page, just click on the headline of the post you're reading. A new tab will open showing that post only, with a window at the bottom for your comment, whether a stoot or any other kind of animal.

Joe Mamma, of Superior Bottom WV, wants to know if Poor Len Canayen is our resident hockey jock's real name.

Dear Joseph: His name is just as real as Walt's. Actually his parents called him "Rich Len" (short for "Richard Leonard") but his investments (Studebaker, shale oil futures, Yahoo and pretty horses) haven't worked out so well so he changed the first part about seven years ago.

Agnes Day, from Bowlegs OK, asks for Walt's e-mail address, so she can enter the contests we hold from time to time. And why not? First prize in our most recent contest was a weekend in Buffalo. Second prize was a week in Buffalo.

Dear Angus: Nice to know folks of Scottish descent are reading our blog. Walt has about a pint of Scotch in his veins. His e-mail address is frereuntel@yahoo.com. It would be Yahoo, wouldn't it. But don't worry. Your e-mails to Walt are just as secure as anything else you do on Yahoo.

And finally... Dawn Vallée of Dildo NL would like to know what's really wrong with Hillary Clinton. Why, with just three weeks to go until Election Day, has she gone into hiding?

Dear Red Dawn: Those are excellent questions, albeit somewhat off topic. My suggestion: use the search feature at the top right corner of the screen and/or the tags at the end of each post to get more information on Hellery's ill health or any other topics that interest you. Click on "health issues", for example, and you'll see all the posts in which that phrase is used.

Dear readers, I trust the foregoing has defogged your fuzzification. You're welcome. Ed.

Agents, comments and contacts

Ed. here with answers to three FAQ's about WWW and how you can communicate with Walt, Poor Len...and me!

AGENTS: "Who are all these numbered Agents you keep referring to?"
Although several of them seem to have congregated in Florida to ride out the winter, Walt normally has agents -- some of them normal -- on four continents. They speak three languages -- four if you count "Merkan" as a separate language. They contribute comments, leads (usually in the form of URLs of interesting sites or stories) and FWDs they think Walt (and you) might like.

How do you become an agent? Walt doesn't have a formal application process. If you contact Walt regularly with items just mentioned, you'll eventually find yourself referred to when we use one of your items. We never disclose numbers or identities. Indeed, it's all I can do to remember them myself, without the aid of my little black book!

CONTACTS: Simple! Click here to send an e-mail.
Yes, there's a spam filter. And I do recognize the 419 and other scams even if they slip through the filter. So if you're a spammer or scammer, you won't get a response, let alone Dollar One. But if you have a pearl to cast, knock yourself out.

COMMENTS: People who want to comment on one of our posts sometimes send an e-mail. You don't have to do that.
The problem seems to be that you can't comment directly from the landing/home page of our blog. What you do is click on the headline of the post you're reading. It will then open in a separate window, and you'll see the comments box open at the bottom. Submit your comment, which I [Ed.] will publish... or not... depending! Hey, that's my job...

You're welcome. Let's hear from you.

Don't be afraid to say something!

Walt here, after a much-needed break for some r'n'r. (To Michael Matt, I mean "rest and relaxation", not "rock 'n' roll"!) Thanks to Len for keeping WWW going in my absence, and Ed. for his carrying the hose the whole time. (Fans of Walt Kelly's Pogo will know what I mean.)

We had a delightful eyeball-to-eyeball at our cabin in the woods last week, with Agents 3, 9, 78 all in the same room with Walt, Len and Ed. Drink was taken and much discussion ensued, anent the dreadful state of the world in general, the Church in particular and other subjects of interest.

Agent 9 said he couldn't understand why we don't see more comments following our outrageous and quasi-outrageous posts. I suspect that it's because a lot of our readers are just looking at the pix. (You know the ones I mean.)

Ed. wondered if readers feel constrained by his policy of moderating all comments which are submitted. In reality, not that many comments come in, and most of those do get published, even if they're critical of our stand on (for example) homosexuality. Even if ye disagree with Walt, as long as ye keep a civil tongue in yer `ead, ye shall be heard... or read.

How to get the comments box open. If you're on the landing page -- the one with the latest half-dozen or so posts -- you need to click on the title of the post you wish to comment on. That post only will open up in a new window or new tab. The comments box will appear at the bottom. Knock yourself out.

If you want to give us feedback on anything at all, click here to e-mail Ed. The spam filter works, so don't bother. If you feel like writing nothing more than a suggestion that we perform an anatomical impossibility, go ahead. We know all those words and treat them with the respect they deserve.

One last thought... If you follow the links from WWW to other blogs and websites, and are moved to contact them, tell them Walt sent ya! Thanks for reading.

Linking WWW to the rest of the world

Ed. here. We got a note in the spam box today asking for permission to publish a link to Walt Whiteman's World in someone's blog. Assuming (as we do in our charity) that this was a legitimate request from someone who wanted to share one of Walt's posts with his/her readers, we say: please feel free!

There are two simple ways to pass on something you read here.

1. Copy the URL of the article and paste it into the "insert link" window in your Blogger or whatever platform you're using.

2. Copy the whole article and paste it into your blog or webpage.

It would be nice if you'd give Walt credit, but we won't be overly offended if you don't. What are we going to do? Sue you for plagiarism or copyright infringement? Nah!
Walt's motto used to be "Sue the bastards!" but that was long ago in a galaxy far away.

Finally, the Comments box at the end of each post is for comments... only. That's why it's labelled "Post a comment", not "Post any damn thing". If you have a question or want to ask permission or anything other than a comment, e-mail waltwhiteman@yahoo.com. You're welcome.

Word of advice from Ed. to spammers

Ed. here, with a cautionary note to people who send comments containing links to other blogs or sites.

The platform we use here is Blogger, which is part of Google. When you submit a comment, Blogger detects the presence of a link, and automatically blocks it. Walt doesn't even see it! So don't bother.

However... if you've got a worthy product or organization or blog or website that you think Walt should know about, you're welcome to e-mail us. If you send us something good, it'll find its way into this space. If you do so regularly, you might become one of Walt's agents!

By the way, there's a spam-blocker in the e-mail system too. But you already knew that...

SPAM ALERT: e-mail from "service@youtube.com"

For the last few days Walt has been getting e-mails from the address shown in the header telling me that my video is on the top of YouTube, or it's been approved, or similar BS. This one's pretty clever because it arrives in my inbox, rather than the spam box, about half the time. But it IS spam.

If you follow the links you'll eventually wind up at the "Canadian" Family Pharmacy, purveyor of dubious drugs for several years. According to MX Lab, there's no real threat, but if you open the link somewhere someone will capture your e-mail address, and après ça, le déluge!

If you get one of these in your in-box, just move it to the spam box. Don't open it. You're welcome.

PS - Walt's e-mail is walt.whiteman@yahoo.com. Feel free...

Freedom of comment

Ed. here, reminding you that Walt does accept comments on his posts. If you're on the home/landing page, click on the headline of the piece you want to add to, reply to or complain about. A comment box will open up at the bottom.

In addition to being chief cook and bottle-washer, it's my duty to "moderate" the comments. Just like the lamestream media, we reserve the right to not print comments we don't like! Calling Walt a racist bastard or a priest-ridden mick won't get you anywhere, but we will give voice to reasonable and reasoned dissent.

If you don't want to comment, but do have a suggestion, a tip, a lead or whatever, you're welcome to e-mail Walt. Just don't offer 50% of millions of dollars to help you move black money to America. Walt didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

Oooops... this just in! Walt's next post may be delayed for a day or two, as he's in hospital recovering from a tumble from a lorry loaded with tubrous vegetables.

Keeping in touch

First, apologies for my absence over the last couple of days. Blogger was down one day, and I was down the other other.

This might be a good time to remind you that you can send your comments, leads, what-have-you to me by e-mail: walt.whiteman@yahoo.com.

You can also comment on any post by using the box below. If you have something cogent to say and say it well, I'll publish it, even if I don't agree with it. But if all you can write is "This is racist" or "You're full of shit", or something similar, don't bother yourself...or me.

Thanks to all the Agents and others who contribute.

My kind of music

Readers will have noted my sympathy for listeners to CBC Radio whose ears are affronted by "black music". Agent 3 writes to ask what kind of music Walt would choose, were he in charge of programming for a supposedly mainstream radio network.

Obviously the question calls for an audio response. But here on the Inner Net audio without video is ... well ... unthinkable. I mean, it would be OK for Walt's blind readers, but ... errr ...
You get the picture. If not, here's the picture now, to go with the music.

Give it up for multiple Grammy winner, the polka king, St. Catharines' own Walter Ostanek! Say, folks, doesn't that bring back memories? Buffalo TV stations used to have live "polka party" shows every weekend! Yep, sandwiched in between the live bowling shows. Ah, those were the days.

Yes, Walt would definitely put some polkas on the playlist, along with some nice waltzes, and maybe the odd obarek. That would go a long way to satisfying the CBC's demand for multiculturalism too, eh.

Prefer some real down-home American music?

Stanley & Co. from beautiful downtown Townley, AL. Folks, that's what you call gospel bluegrass. When was the last time you heard anything like that on your effete big city rangdeedio? Got the "religious right" base covered too.

If you liked that -- and why wouldn't you? -- you'll find dozens of homespun versions of that fine old gospel song on YouTube. Just Google "I'll Fly Away".

Want to have some fun? Mix yourself up a CD of that kind of music -- the music of the silent majority -- and be silent no longer! Plug the CD in your car stereo, turn the volume up to "deafen" and drive through the `hood.
Don't stop. Have fun.

Footnote: This is post number 700. Had enough yet? Send an e-mail with "More!" or "No more!" in the subject line to walt.whiteman@yahoo.com. The wishes of the majority will be respected. Or maybe not... like the CBC!

Taking a break for a week

Dear reader, it's been nearly a year since I started this blog. I've written over 400 posts and my poor old fingers are getting tired from punching the keys. So I'm giving myself a week off to recharge the batteries, clear out the cobwebs and all the other clichés.

ed. has the password and will sling a few syllables in the event of any earth-shattering news. Otherwise you'll see me again on June 21st, D.V.

PS - Hope you like the new look! Your comments on this or anything are always welcome. You can e-mail me at walt.whiteman@yahoo.com.

Cheers...
"Walt"

Pope to visit Fatima next May - DO hold your breath!

Yesterday Associated Press broke the news that government officials in Portugal have announced that Pope Benedict XVI plans to visit the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima next year.

This major announcement has not yet been confirmed by the Vatican, which normally waits until a few weeks before a papal trip. But it's not likely that the Portuguese government would give out the news were plans not firm.

The AP report says the Holy Father will preside at celebrations marking the 93rd anniversary of the miraculous apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima on May 13, 1917.

Traditional Catholics, particularly Fatima scholars like Father Nicholas Gruner, are speculating that the Pope may use the occasion to reveal, at long last, the words Our Lady confided to Sister Lucy, in the Third Secret of Fatima.

Those words, indeed the very existence of the Third Secret, have long been the subject of extreme controversy in Catholic circles. The Vatican was supposed to divulge the Third Secret in 1960, according to the instructions of the Virgin, but it did the opposite, hiding Sister Lucy's handwritten notes deep in the Vatican Archives.

Why all the secrecy? Why has every Pope since Vatican II kept silent while princes of the Church tried to silence the voice of Our Lady? The Third Secret is widely believed to predict corruption and apostasy in the Church, and the loss of the traditional Catholic Faith which has followed on Vatican II. No wonder the Church doesn't want to talk about it!

But Benedict XVI has read the Secret and has called it the greatest prophecy of the 20th century. He knows what it says and what Our Lady wants him to do to avoid the loss of millions, even billions, of lives and souls.

The Holy Father faces opposition from powerful forces within the Vatican itself, notably Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the papal wannabe. But perhaps -- let us hope and pray -- the Pope has decided that at last he must act! Those who hold to the traditional Catholic Faith should be counting the days until May 13, 2010.

Most Catholics know little or nothing about Fatima and Our Lady's prophecies for these last times. If you would like further information, let me know how to contact you by snail-mail, and I'll send you The True Story of Fatima, by Father John DeMarchi. Knowing the truth about the Message of Fatima could save your soul!

"100th anniversary"

Hey! The previous post was no. 100! How about that...
It's said the average blog has about 20 readers and last about two months. Walt has done a little better than that.
If you're enjoying the blog, or getting provoked or finding food for thought, whatever, please let me know. Click on "contact" below to find out how easy it is to send a message to Walt!

Now you can e-mail Walt!

Fine. You read an article and you're wondering how to contact me without posting a comment. In response to upwards of two requests, I got a Yahoo! account, so...

Feel free to e-mail me at walt.whiteman@yahoo.com. I won't promise to answer, but I do read my messages assiduously. (Look it up.) Knock yourself out...

Welcome to Walt Whiteman's World

Greetings and salutations, dear readers. I'm tired of posting comments on mainstream media websites, only to have them censored. And I'm tired of copying and pasting into personal e-mails my comments on the news and the horrible state of the world. And I don't tweet or twitter! So I've decided to dip my pen in vitriol, as it were, and set up this blog.

Perhaps no-one will read it. I suspect very few blogs get much readership. But this one will be "out there" for those who care to read the other side of debates on politics, race, religion and other topics not fit to discuss at the dining table.

I am not trying to start a dialogue, only a monologue. My opinions are my own, not necessarily those of any party or organization to which I may belong. You are welcome to disagree. You won't be the first. You're also welcome to send me your comments. Unless they're incredibly stupid, intemperate or unhelpful, they'll appear in due course.

If you have something to say but don't want it published, you can e-mail me: walt.whiteman@yahoo.com.
