Ed. here with answers to three FAQ's about WWW and how you can communicate with Walt, Poor Len...and me!

AGENTS: "Who are all these numbered Agents you keep referring to?"
Although several of them seem to have congregated in Florida to ride out the winter, Walt normally has agents -- some of them normal -- on four continents. They speak three languages -- four if you count "Merkan" as a separate language. They contribute comments, leads (usually in the form of URLs of interesting sites or stories) and FWDs they think Walt (and you) might like.

How do you become an agent? Walt doesn't have a formal application process. If you contact Walt regularly with items just mentioned, you'll eventually find yourself referred to when we use one of your items. We never disclose numbers or identities. Indeed, it's all I can do to remember them myself, without the aid of my little black book!

CONTACTS: Simple! Click here to send an e-mail.
Yes, there's a spam filter. And I do recognize the 419 and other scams even if they slip through the filter. So if you're a spammer or scammer, you won't get a response, let alone Dollar One. But if you have a pearl to cast, knock yourself out.

COMMENTS: People who want to comment on one of our posts sometimes send an e-mail. You don't have to do that.
The problem seems to be that you can't comment directly from the landing/home page of our blog. What you do is click on the headline of the post you're reading. It will then open in a separate window, and you'll see the comments box open at the bottom. Submit your comment, which I [Ed.] will publish... or not... depending! Hey, that's my job...

Word of advice from Ed. to spammers

Ed. here, with a cautionary note to people who send comments containing links to other blogs or sites.

The platform we use here is Blogger, which is part of Google. When you submit a comment, Blogger detects the presence of a link, and automatically blocks it. Walt doesn't even see it! So don't bother.

However... if you've got a worthy product or organization or blog or website that you think Walt should know about, you're welcome to e-mail us. If you send us something good, it'll find its way into this space. If you do so regularly, you might become one of Walt's agents!

By the way, there's a spam-blocker in the e-mail system too. But you already knew that...

SPAM ALERT: e-mail from "service@youtube.com"

For the last few days Walt has been getting e-mails from the address shown in the header telling me that my video is on the top of YouTube, or it's been approved, or similar BS. This one's pretty clever because it arrives in my inbox, rather than the spam box, about half the time. But it IS spam.

If you follow the links you'll eventually wind up at the "Canadian" Family Pharmacy, purveyor of dubious drugs for several years. According to MX Lab, there's no real threat, but if you open the link somewhere someone will capture your e-mail address, and après ça, le déluge!

If you get one of these in your in-box, just move it to the spam box. Don't open it. You're welcome.
