VIDEO: Keep the Faith! Michael Matt interviews Bishop Schneider

2020 has been a pretty awful year for traditional Catholics and political conservatives, not just because of the corona virus and the resultant economic challenges, but because of challenges to our faith in our political institutions and in the Church Herself. It would be easy to become disillusioned and downhearted. But we must not!

In this video, recorded at the recent Catholic Identity Conference Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant newspaper, interview Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Auxiliary Bishop of Astana (Kazakhstan), who encourages us to keep the Faith, and hold fast to our hope and trust in the Lord.

VIDEO: Fr. Ed Meeks: 5 things Catholics should know about Joe Biden

Father Ed Meeks is a Catholic priest of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, and the founding pastor of Christ the King Church in Towson MD. After many years as a priest of the Charismatic Episcopal Church, and then the Anglican Church in America, Fr. Meeks was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on 23 June 2012.

Excerpts from Fr Meeks' homily (11/10/20) on the issues of the 2020 election and Catholics' civic responsibilities are featured by Michael Matt in his video "The American Nightmare: Go Trump or go lockdown!", reposted here a few minutes ago.

 

It requires great courage for a Catholic priest to speak out against the liberal establishment, especially now when that liberal secular humanist establishment has, as its chaplain, none other than the Marixst Jorge Bergoglio, whom some still call "Pope Francis". Fr Meeks' warning should be taken to heart not just by Catholics, but by patriotic Americans of all faiths.

Catholics! Help stop "Synod on Young People"!

Some people, like your obdt. servant, write about problems in the Roman Catholic Church. Some people, like Michael J. Matt, editor of The Remnant, try to do something about them. I have just received a letter from Mr Matt concerning Synod 2018, a gathering of young people from around the world to meet with Pope Francis and the many gay bishops and priests of the Vatican's "mauve Mafia", scheduled for this October. Dear Friends in Christ the King:

I need your help with an important piece of Catholic action. We need to stop the Synod on Young People that is scheduled to take place in Rome this coming October.

Inviting young people from ages 16-29 to come to Rome to discuss vocations with bishops and cardinals who may have covered for predators or who may be predators themselves is offensive to the victims, dangerous to the young people, and a scandal to faithful Catholics.

The full extent of the clerical predation in the hierarchy will take years to uncover. This Synod must be cancelled while the civil authorities and law enforcement fully investigate the breadth and depth of the clerical predation.

Therefore, The Remnant has launched a petition demanding that the Synod be postponed indefinitely, and I'm hoping I can count on your help to spread this petition far and wide.

Two popes talk about peaceful coexistence with Muslims

Only a couple of days before Sandro Magister said in an interview he found the Pope's silence on Islam "a contradiction", the Head of the Church called for more careful instruction for seminarians on dealing with Muslims!

Meeting with African Bishops, Pope Francis said, "I think it is important that the clergy receive a more structured training in the seminary in order to carry out a constructive dialogue with Muslims, a dialogue ever more necessary to live a peaceful coexistence with them."

The Pope noted that Africa presents a special situation for Christians because Islam is "strongly majoritarian" -- whatever that means -- in many places. He added that there are great differences from place to place in the "conditions of reciprocal relations" with Islam. He made no apology for the gross understatement.

Walt wonders what the Pope is smoking. Or does he just make this stuff up as he goes along? He certainly can't have remembered -- if he ever knew them -- the teachings of St. Dominic and St. Thomas Aquinas, who said we must combat the heresies of Islam and all other false religions.


A commenter on the Jihad Watch blog writes:
"Does the Pope really think Boko Haram needs a heart-to-heart convo about tolerance? Is he nuts? Attacks, massacres, forced conversions of Christians, forced marriages and sharia: the protocol Boko Haram has been told in ghastly detail by the few fortunate survivors. Jihadists are slaughtering Christian children, kidnapping young girls and selling them in slave markets to Muslims, targeting teachers and doctors, and the Pope thinks it’s a lack of inter-faith dialogue?"

Indeed. But if any proof of the lunacy of the Party Pope's thoughts of coexistence was needed, it was offered within mere days by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who declared a jihad -- Islamic holy war -- on Rome, America and its "coalition", and all and sundry other infidels.

Calling on his followers to "erupt volcanoes of jihad everywhere", the Terrorist-in-Chief added, "The crusaders' missiles will not stop our advance on Rome." That would be the same Rome from which the Church -- in the days when it was Catholic -- launched the Crusades to recover the Holy Land from the Muslim infidels.

One must ask, with Antonio Socci (see reference in the Magister interview) if someone gives voice to such foolish (and anti-Christian) ideas can really be Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Francis wants to love the radical Islamists to death, while they want to, errr, kill us to death!

Contrast what Pope Francis is saying with the 1928 teaching of Pope Pius XI in Mortalium Animos, in which he ordered us not to sell out to the Muslim infidels, but to bring them to the Catholic Church!

Pius XI ordered the Dedication of the Human Race to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, to be made each year on the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, in these words: "Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism, and refuse not to draw them all into the light and kingdom of God."

But that was before Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born. Perhaps no-one ever told him about it. Or perhaps he forgot.

Rule by man triumphs over rule by God

In my last post, I tried to make the point that the rights and freedoms of individual Americans, Canadians and Britons are now -- more than ever -- under attack by the state. The governments of the free world are just as authoritarian, in their own way, as those of Russia, China or North Korea.

They pay lip service to freedom, but in practice have taken away or seriously circumscribed the rights and freedoms for which so many have died. An example is the right to free speech. Anyone who thinks they can tell the truth, as they see it, without fear has never had to face the wrath of a "human rights commission".

Another example, as any landlord can tell you, is the right to choose who's going to live under your roof. Say that you'd prefer a male tenant for your basement apartment, and expect a charge of "gender discrimination". [Good thing you didn't say "sex"! ed.]

Want more? What kind of person do you want to fill that vacancy in your little company or organization? Looking for a leader for the local boy scout troop? Can you specify a "straight male"? That's two offences in one phrase, you sexist homophobe!

And while we're at it...how come the Boy Scouts felt obliged to change their name to just "Scouts" but the Girl Guides are still the "Girl Guides"? That's not in the USA but in Canada, which has a "Charter of Rights and Freedoms" enshrined in its constitution. It is to laugh. But I digress...

My point is that since the hippy-dippy 60s, we have seen an exponential growth of the all-seeing, all-powerful "nanny state" and the concomitant decline of individual rights. Our governments have weakened or altogether ignored constitutional limits. And woe betide any libertarian who dares question their authority.

Why is this? Because God and His Church have been removed from any meaningful role in our post-secular Western society. It's a wonder that "In God we trust" still appears on US coins!

Instead of God, our society puts its faith in humanism, in the inherent goodness of man. That man is basically evil is one of the chief tenets of Christianity. It's called "original sin". So to trust men [you mean "humans", surely. ed] to do the right thing is rubbish.

Our governors must understand this because their restrictions on our freedom say to us, "You can't be trusted to do the right thing, so WE, your [sic] government, will tell you, and you'd better do what WE say...or else!"

The subordination of the rights of the individual to the rights of the state was foreseen by Father Denis Fahey (1883-1954), an Irish priest whose name will always be associated with the doctrine of the Social Kingship of Christ. Here's a quote from his book, The Mystical Body of Christ and the Reorganization of Society:

As the revolt against the Divine Plan for order in the world and the denial of God's Rights have spread, respect for man's personal rights has diminished. These rights are being denied and the world is threatened with the return of a slavery worse than that of ancient Rome, in proportion as rulers of states no longer see in their subjects members of Christ.

As the social organization of the world has been increasingly withdrawn from the rule of Christ the King, human beings are being treated more and more as mere individuals completely subject to the State, just as in the days before Christ.
