Some are mayors of big cities (Hello, New York!). Some are Congresspersons. Five Muslims served in hte 119th Congress, all in the House of Representatives, and all Democrats. Notable among them are such patriotic Americans as "Squad" members Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
There are currently no Muslim state governors. However, Ghazala Hashmi serves as the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, making her the first Muslima ever to be elected to statewide office. At present there are no Muslim US senators, but Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic nomination for the Senate in Michigan. If he wins, he will become the first Muslim senator in American history.
We are now just seven (count `em, 7) weeks away from the mid-term elections at which American voters -- hey! I'm talkin' to you! -- will have the opportunity to decide if they want more... or fewer... followers of the Prophet to guide the destinies of the nation. The franchise is there for you. Use it! And choose wisely!
